So I made another design in my series of Pride Norse designs, aka my "Fuck-off nazis, these symbols aren't for you!" designs, aka my "I hope we can make designs of them that are so blatantly gay they won't want to touch them anymore" designs. (Previous designs: Pride Loki Runes | Be Gay, Do Pride | Pride Yggdrasil with Runes | Pride Valknuts)

This time I drew Mjolnir and colored many versions with different Pride flags. I also made two versions of each design, one saying "You are Worthy" and another saying "I am Worthy," with the exception of a progress flag version that says "We are Worthy"

Here are some I've done so far:

I do have plans to do more with other flags, but if you see I maybe haven't done yours yet, feel free to send me an ask.

Like the previous sets, I've got the full-res designs hosted on my Ko-fi as free downloads for anyone who wishes to use them. Print them on a shirt, make yourself stickers, use on gifts for others- whatever.

(Note: I am completely aware that in the original Norse Mythology the "must be worthy" charm doesn't exist with Mjolnir. However, stories change and adapt over time, and people can find meaning in all interpretations of a story, including this popularized adaptation. So some months ago, I was minding my own business and encountered the following joke:

"Do not destroy that twink I have needs for his conniving eunuch ways."

I was like "this is loki-coded " and tagged it as loki. And then it kept haunting me...

as of now, I'm having unbidden thoughts that are all a variation of "Loki is a prince whose kingdom thinks of as a royal advisor rather than a heir." Lots of people in fandom that think of the brodinsons as platonic speculate and are even convinced that Loki was meant to be Thor's advisor after Thor took the throne. The following excerpt is from the Thor (2011) script. Why are they counting on their spare/supposedly younger son to reign in the heir to the throne? Why do they act like he'll always be at Thor's beck and call to provide advice? (It's also why I vehemently disagree with parentified!Thor HCs, but this is not the place for that rant...)

What's interesting is that it's a very common position/occupation for queer-coded villains in fantasy/monarchy settings. The royal advisor role is often associated with eunuchs who came from poor backgrounds and were coerced/forced into being mutilated and this dynamic is present with loki in a rather subtle way that is framed as merciful (loki was from a ravaged realm and his birthright was to die; he was found in a war zone).

Additionally, there is quite a lot of fic(some of rather questionable taste) that focuses on Loki's unusual alien "parts". Sometimes his alien parts in fic resemble intersex conditions or he happens to have both perfectly functioning and proportional sets of binary genitalia simultaneously. Regardless, in both of these cases, his genitals don't fall under the typical binary.

There's also fic where Odin changes Loki into an Asgardian form with genitalia that conform to the binary, but Loki discovers this was not the case in his Jotun form... Doesn't this have implications of intersexist medical sexual abuse?

not to mention, there is cannon genital torture in the series… and i went like "huh, this is surprisingly myth-accurate. what an odd choice..."

Genital injury(but it was Loki's idea; were they attempting to improvise an orchidectomy or did they not care bc shapeshifting heals them and or their balls are ridiculously durable?) is also present in the myths when Loki attaches their testes goat's beard to make Skadi laugh... It's noted as one of the events in which Loki "loses status" due to the emasculation they showcased in front of the rest of the Aesir.

I went in detail in the MCU!Sif=Sif + Skadi post I made some time ago where I cite Lindow mentioning that in for the Norse castration was a punishment associated with slaves...

I'm not saying that he is a eunuch, but there is coding. Probably because a lot of queer-coding may be based on perceptions (unfair) of eunuchs in royal courts.

if the people in charge of the MCU weren’t cowards they would acknowledge that “Laufey king” is actually Loki’s mother (in fact, Laufey is still a common female name in Iceland). they could have trans king Laufey to explain this or have the frost giants all be some form of intersex, which is a common trope I’ve seen in fic.

as of S1 of the series, Loki is canon bisexual, but in the mythology he is 100% canon genderfluid and can change sexes as well. he both fathers and mothers various children, he lives on Earth as a milkmaid for several years, he disguises himself as Thor’s bridesmaid and does all the talking while Thor is in bad bride drag with a veil over his face.

Thoughts on Loki's bio mother?

Omg. This is a good question.

So, a lot of people headcanon that Loki’s biological mother is non Jötun, (and that Loki is a bastard child) which is why he’s a runt, but I really don’t believe that at all. I believe that Loki is fully Jötun and just turned out to have a deformity which made him much smaller than the average Jötun. Not because he’s actually half Asgardian or half anything else. Though, the headcanon is pretty interesting.

Yeah… I believe his mother was another Jötun.

But I have realized that we only see male Jötnar in the MCU. WHERE ARE THE WOMEN?! Maybe they’re sort of intersex or they can change sexes? Or all the female ones are in hiding for some reason. I’m thinking all the female Jötnar were in hiding and were not allowed to be guards or soldiers, which is why we don’t see them.

I know there’s a lot more clarity about this in the Myths and in the comics, but clearly… the MCU doesn’t follow that. So… UNSERIOUS HEADCANON TIME!

I headcanon that she was another Jötun, of a lower status than Laufey. She was of course very gorgeous (Loki has to get it from someone…), and she was charmed by Laufey one way or another. They wed, and she becomes pregnant. They needed an heir soon because tensions were rising between the realms, and Laufey started doing some crazy shit (like in the opening scene of Thor 1 in Norway).

War continues to break out… it’s definitely an interesting time to be pregnant. The heir will be born soon, and he will be great! They hold onto that hope. But all continues failing for them.

… Okay so the baby is born, and he’s actually tiny af. They have been cursed. That’s a sign of a curse for the Jötnar, anyway. Hmm… how do they cover this up? If this got out to everyone, it would be… very disheartening. They still have a war to win, and this would discourage everyone. A cursed child born during the war that they were losing. This was bad.

Everyone was told that she died in childbirth, and so did the child. What a bummer…

But In reality, she was killed because she was “responsible” for the curse, and the child, who actually survived childbirth, was left out to die. Laufey and everyone else who knew (midwives, probably) needed to get rid of the evidence.

Laufey never remarried, and never tried to create another heir. Fearing another curse but also feeling down because of Jötunheim’s defeat in the war. His nephew or someone else will be the heir, probably..

But when Loki came down to Jötunheim… he recognized that he was his son.

“Your father is a murderer and a thief! He stole what was ours, and left our world in ruins. We have the right to reclaim the Casket��

The thief part was about more than just the Casket.

But, he could not acknowledge that Loki was his son in front of anyone else, because he “died” in childbirth 1000+ years ago. He couldn’t reveal that he was responsible for the cursed runt.

So, we’re left with the idea that Laufey had no idea that Loki was his son. But, deep down inside, he knew. He just couldn’t do anything about it. But he was okay with that, because he could get revenge on Odin now. The child was good for something..

… Oh no, Laufey is assassinated by his own son.

… Oh no, his own son attempts genocide against Jötunheim.

Yeah maybe Jötunheim has been cursed. This is Asgard’s doing!

“Am I cursed?” Perhaps, just not in the way you think you were.

Okay this is just an unserious/lighthearted headcanon I came up with idk maybe it can make a little sense
