It’s passed time to accept that transphobes who harass and misgender intersex people aren’t doing it out of misplaced transphobia, but because they will be cruel to anyone who doesn’t fit into their boxes. They’re happy to be intersexist. And yes, it does really reveals how full of shit all of their excuses about “choices” and what’s “natural” or “biology” are. They’re just hateful and believe so deeply in gender roles that they’ll harass anyone who falls outside of the lines in their mind - including intersex people.
We perisex trans folks and allies need to stop acting like intersex people are a gotcha argument or just collateral damage. When intersexist laws in sport are passed, it's not just because of transphobia. When intersex people are harassed, it's not just because of transphobia. Intersex people are another oppressed minority group that we need to be allies to, not tools or arguments. It's good to bring up the fact that intersex people exist and face their own struggles because we should acknowledge and support them, not as gatchas.
And we can't forget about intersex people when they complicate our arguments. There are children who undergo genital surgery and nonconsensual hormones: intersex children. Interphobes and transphobes won't support intersex children. Transphobic legislation is specifically written to also be intersexist and allow intersex children to keep undergoing these questionable medical interventions without even their knowledge. Bigots aren't suddenly reasonably simply because intersex people are (provably and obviously) naturally born that way. We need to be their allies and stand with them.

i really want to emphasize the fact that many of these recent bills aimed at denying trans minors gender-affirming care have special exceptions built in to allow for nonessential surgeries on intersex children. they want to make sure doctors can continue pressuring parents into putting their intersex kids through procedures that have no evidence of benefits and are well known to cause harm (cw on these articles for discussions of intersex medical abuse/trauma).
these bills are not designed to protect children, they're designed to eradicate sex and gender diversity. they want to force both trans and intersex people into their binary little boxes and it will do immense harm to both groups.

Okai intersex community, peer review me.
I'm putting this out there cause I wanted to acquire some perspective from intersex peeps.
For context, I am part of a transmasc/masc aligned trans group and we're going to be marching in manchester pride this august.
Would it be appropriate if I, a perisex trans man, to carry a sign that highlights our need to include intersex people in trans liberation?
Open for anyone to response (except you terfs, disrespectfully fuck off)

correct me if i’m wrong, but a lot of intersex people are some of the best examples of gender identity. they’re born with parts that correlate with both sexes, yet a lot of intersex people choose to identify as male or female during their life. their gender identity doesn’t always perfectly match their biology, but we accept them as women/men nonetheless. and of course there are also intersex people who might identify with neither male/female, and that’s okay too.
(sincerely, a cis woman who’s been studying gender theory lately because i was inspired by my MTF friend!)

Happy pride story 💛💜💛
I went to pride this weekend and for the first time in my life, after attending around 10 prides, saw actual intersex flags there.
Prior, I had only seen one tiny dime sized pin saying "this is me". But last weekend, I saw one normal sized flag on the back of a truck with a bunch others, which was a huge relief as I hadn't seen it anywhere. Like at all. The progress flag was the closest I'd see. Usually I only see intersex included on online infographs that list many others (we need to bring those back bc the baby queers don't know what the bear flag is).
Over a million people and I never saw anyone else flying our colors. But I did see this one booth, oh this one beautiful booth out of over 200, this one. This one had those little stick intersex flags (pictured below). I almost started crying. It was a hospital. They had 90% carpenter flags, n the rest were the striped one. I thanked them for acknowledging us and for being the first place that I could get a flag from 🥰 They told me to take two flags, one as a back up! I thanked them again I wanted to cry I was so psyched

The next day, I went to another pride. Small, but alright! Someone at the trans mutual aid booth asked me if I had gotten my intersex flag (showing from my crutch bag) at that event, or if I brought it in. I said I had just gotten it yesterday! He said something like "dang, bc my bf's been looking for things like flags or merch, it's so hard to find ):" before the sentence was finished, I was already pulling out my second one and handed it over. I could really see the bf's expression bc he was a bit too far away but he sounded very thankful 🥳 they also complimented my intersex crop (:
I decided to actually buy a small set of 10 flags, I'm going to another large pride this weekend so I'm planning to hand them out 💖 (car ears + forearm crutches, maybe you'll see me!)

all over the globe intersex people lack rights to our own bodies, only 15 countries have some sort of protection for us. things like igm (intersex gen¡tal mutil@tion) are legal all over too, I was a v¡ct¡m of this back in the early 2000s and it still happens to intersex babies today. it is important to uplift our voices and to learn our stories, so many people have no idea any of this happens. there are literally exceptions in the ant¡trans laws to keep allowing unnecessary surgeries on intersex babies which isn't ok bc a baby can not give consent. today I ask of you all to educate yourself about intersex people and our issues and stand with us in this fight for our own bodies and existence 💕
(please do not share my posts on other platforms without my permission)
if you like to support me💕, my shops are how I make money rn so I appreciate any type of support:

really truly wish there was more trans intersex solidarity cause goddamn we’re essentially cousins
like. it was black dresses/devi mccallion and ada rook that helped me realize that “huh maybe im not 100% cis. at least not in the traditional sense” not to mention all the trans guys of tumblr who just GET it
like i don’t think im cis or trans (sticking with cis-genderless for now but that’s extremely liable to change) but holy shit everything would just be 10x easier if we weren’t so caught up in tumblr bullshit
