When did the Dance Marathon take place exactly? Based on the color of the leaves and the fact that Thanksgiving is too episodes later I assumed at the beginning/middle November but why does Lorelai say that Rory is 17 the episode after? People never round other people's ages down, like okay in the pilot she said Rory was 16 when Rory was short of her 16th birthday, but you almost never see this happen in reverse. It is also highly unlikely that Lorelai would make a mistake in her only child's age! So did the Dance Marathon take place at the beginning of October, before Rory's birthday?

Which leads me to my next question - did Jess and Rory celebrate each other's 18th birthdays together? Just two episodes before that Jess needed Luke to sign a paper for him because he's a minor. So did they celebrate both of their birthdays together and we didn't get to see it?

I do think the point of the 🫚 anon is a throw to Tree. Not because it is her, but because she runs the PR plan. Those anons seem to come in as a set of steps (presented as poems), steps related to how this plan is being laid out.

On the other hand, the 🌋 anon is more the behind the scenes, the feelings and occurrences happening behind the steps that are being taken. All of it building up to an explosion.

You know, this might be kinda why I've never felt drawn to the overall aesthetic. When I think of being a homemaker, I'm thinking grit, courage, sleeves rolled up, lots of work and beauty. Much more a pioneer woman thing. Not a he works, and I sit around. (Not that the mom in Leave it to Bever sat around. She was pretty busy and engaged.) But as a homemaker, I believe in being productive, not just consuming.

But, you might be onto something here.

one thing about 1950s obsessed "trads" is that they aren't even traditional. their ideal way of life is based on a specific set of fragile, unsustainable circumstances. it was arguably one of the least natural, much less traditional, states of humanity.

i could go on for paragraphs about why they do this, or point out the issues in the ideology. but for now i just want to impart how blatantly stupid the concept is.

Clark is taking Kon and Jon out for a classic, super-style bonding flight. Just a quick jaunt around the US and back!

They don’t get far. Somewhere in Illinois airpace, they run across another family.

The three (a hulking man, a snarky teenage boy, and a cackling youngest girl, each a grayscale blur in the blue, blue sky) throw neon-lit beams of energy at one another, quips and insults flying almost as fast as they do. It looks like training. It looks like fun!

The boy of them looks like a younger version of the man. Exactly like, even. Clark is familiar with clones.

The youngest, a girl, looks like both of them, but not quite. Perhaps she will, age sharpening her childish features, but it’s hard to say. More likely, she’s the man’s daughter.

Interested, Clark introduces himself to Dan. He seems to be a hero in his own right, even if Superman’s yet to see him in action. And it’s not often Clark sees a family so like his own!

Watching the final episode again, it's obvious that Cooper is observing the exchange between Hank and Lucy, waiting for her move. And it's not until she wavers that he shoots. Then he asks her to join him and waits for her decision. It's interesting compared to Max's entrance in the scene minutes earlier when he blasted open the cage with little grasp of the scene before him and grabbed her hand eager to ride to the sunset. It's a testament to his character and nicely showcases the contrast between the two. Of course, Max is not aware of all the family drama. Yet, he pays his surroundings little mind, acts on impulse and morals alone, and plays the hero. In a way, he reacts as Lucy would have once.
