another reason i think that xie lian felt an instant connection on the ox cart is because he and hua cheng both grew up in xianle.

there are maybe 4 people still alive that grew up in that culture. based on my own experience, you can pick up on things like accent, cadence, references, and humor that suggest a person is from the same place as you without consciously noticing it. that sense of comfort and similarity probably played into their instant chemistry.

i think that for moshang bathing time is one of the most important times of the day for them because it's the only time they can be with each other and just. be calm and chill out

like both of them all day always have so much work deal with and so many people to deal with (and in qinghuas case, paperwork as well) that i think that besides waking up together (shang qinghua probably has to go to sleep way later than mobei coz he has so much work - but this is probably reconciled) they don't really get to spend much time together where they can just. Be. ykwim....

like there's something so cute about them taking turns to brush each others hair and the only sounds are the rhythmic pattering of water and the bristles going through their locks and then they just chill together and qinghua maybe complains about day and mobei just listens and if only for that small period the only people in the world are them ... no attendants, no nothing.... but i think it would be a really sacred time for them AUGHHHHH THEYRE SO CUTE
