It's interesting looking back on how the whole discourse of "You will eat the bugs and live in the pod" evolved. The firs I time I heard of people eating buts was on this tv show of some candy store selling fried crickets and crickets coated in honey. This was in the early 2000's and was treated as a novelty. It was kind of interesting back then.
Now you have scientists researching bugs as a food source for mass production and elites who want to shill it. The thing I notice about the criticism about the promotion of the bugs is that it's not so much about the bugs themselves but more about how the elites want to push social control over what you eat. It's about the elites trying to rob you of choice and agency.
The bugs are also probably not a sufficient source of protein anyway. You'd have to get a massive quantity of them to feed people and you would do that via factory farming. At that point you get all the problems that come with factory farming.
I guess my view is that eating bugs on an individual level is fine as long as it's voluntary. Not when it's some form of social engineering done by the elites trying to push some new trend onto the rest of us.

My personal least-favorite concept in "medicine" (psychiatry, which I refuse to consider real medicine) is "insight."
It goes something like this:
If they agree with you that they need "help," they're getting better
If they disagree, that means that they're sick and need to be treated against their will
It's just such a blatant attempt to undermine consent that it has no equivalent in medicine and is omnipresent in psych.
tired of medication positivity posts that assume everyone has a positive relationship with medication
here’s to people who don’t take medication that their doctors want them to take. here’s to people who get marked noncompliant. here’s to people who get sectioned or hospitalized bc they won’t take their meds. here’s to people who self-medicate w nonprescription drugs. here’s to the people in withdrawal. here’s to the people who would rather deal with their symptoms than medication side effects. here’s to the “treatment-resistant” people who have never found medication that helps at all. here’s to the people who are only on meds nonconsensually. here’s to people who refuse meds for “irrational” or “stupid” reasons. here’s to people for whom taking meds is a trauma trigger. here’s to people who are disabled from past medications. here’s to people who are constantly being pressured into taking meds they don’t want and having to defend their “no” over and over again
yes, lots of people need their meds. yes, meds can be important. but don’t forget us
fuck everyone who calls us anti-science or anti-recovery. who says we are hurting other ppl by talking about our choices. bodily autonomy includes the right to say NO. even to medical treatment.
#as queue like it#medication#meds#bodily autonomy#civil liberties#individual choice#yes I've seen this play out in real life#repeatedly#best was when an attending tried to force someone to get a procedure#and OB/Gyn full-on told him to fuck off when he gave his “reasoning”#“I'm all for a woman's right to choose. BUT...” is a terrible way to start an argument#don't get me wrong - real medicine has problems too#but at least real doctors aren't proud enough of that shit to make it a core part of their professional ideals

He was charged for publications on the “Protest MSU” channel about alleged Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, unlawful strikes on Ukrainian cities, war crimes in the Ukrainian towns of Bucha and Irpin, as well as using the officially proscribed term “war” instead of “special military operation.” On 2 June 2022, Dmitry Ivanov was about to be released after serving 35 days of administrative detention for breaching the repressive Russian law on public gatherings, but instead was charged and moved to pretrial detention On 20 January 2023, Dmitry Ivanov was reportedly beaten by the guards in the courthouse.

"Wyll is boring" he is the personification of daddy issues. he hides away at a beach TWICE and leaving the tav to go find him because he's not used to having people around who care abt him. he's been running around the sword coast for seven years just killing things and saving people because he got EXILED and chose to prove himself to his father and just help others. he spends his time training kids how to defend themselves. you find out his dad is the ARCHDUKE of Baldur's Gate. he almost drowned once trying to find mermaids. he has a literal devil haunting him that watches his every move. He managed to stop an entire cult of Tiamat AT AGE 17!!!!!!! he loves clowns.
Wyll isn't boring, ppl just haven't taken the time to explore his story and it SHOWS

Well the amazing news about wicked is that if you want to love it it’s genuinely objectively good enough that you can love it and if you want to hate it it’s genuinely objectively bad enough that you can hate it. This one’s gonna be crazy for the discourse machine and everyone wins

People are mad at innie Mark. How. Why. I understand being upset bc the choice he made was impossible and tragic, but what did you expect?? he didn't believe that Mark Scout planned on integrating him, so leaving through that door would have essentially been suicide. You wanted him to KILL HIMSELF just to give a man he doesn't know (who created him and left him in office hell) a chance with a woman he has little-to-no attachment to?? Of course he chose Helly. Like. Of course. He's IN LOVE WITH HER. His life might be short, but she is the absolute best part of it. Mark Scout is in love with Gemma, totally, completely, to the point that losing her drove him to split his brain in half, but to Mark S that's pretty much just Miss Casey. He'll save her life, obviously, but he doesn't owe her anything more than that. He CERTAINLY doesn't owe Mark Scout SHIT.
This absolutely is not hate to Gemma or outie Mark, nor is it distaste for markgemma (this is not a ship war. Why are we treating it like a ship war). But people are MAD at him. Some people are mad at HELLY (arguably Helena) for... idk I guess not begging her boyfriend to abandon her forever, even though she's literally the person who convinced him to complete Cold Harbour in the first place. She's Gemma's biggest innie ride or die!!! WHATEVER!! Whatever.
#mark s has had no agency his entire life and youre gonna get mad the first time he makes a real choice?? okay#idk i just think that if you consider the innies as individual people any other choice makes no sense#mark s is a kind person#but he's no ones sacrificial goat#anyways its late and im probably being dramatic#severance#severance spoilers#gemma scout#mark scout#helly r

Day 2: Timeloop / Xiao Qi and Jiu Ge
I am cringe and I am not even free
Feel free to reuse this idea but 24 hours are not enough for me to finish an entire comic. I could have taken the simpler prompt but nOOOOOO timeloop is too tempting. Past me why are we like this
#svsss#shen jiu#yue qingyuan#qijiu#qijiuweek2024#the basic idea for this was that both yqy and sj remember each loop#the loop started after their individual deaths in PIDW and resets them to close to disciple era#aka the time Yue Qi was in the caves and SJ presumably got away from the Qiu household or was already with Wu Yanzi#I imagine the first few loops they qi deviated so hard from the shock that they didnt even make it like 1 hour in the loop before beingrese#and then had a few loops just fucking around and finding out#eventually they realise that the other has the memories of all loops and so begins the talks and figuring how tf they can get out of this#maybe they resolve their issues with the promise or not your choice tbh#they try different plans and methods#but they keep dying (read: SJ keeps dying first and YQY either dies or sewerslides not soon after) and getting reset with no end in sight#until the last pages where the svsss timeline begins#SJ got replaced with SY and the system isn't letting YQY join him in death or smth nor letting him do anything about SY being there instead#And due to their closeness from being immensily tired from all the loops#YQY notices it immediately but can't do anything about it#the bonus for SY is that this timeline was very kind to LBH & co - 79 figured by now that keeping him in the sect and happy was their best#bet at staying alive - or well at least for longer#I'll continue this storyline in one of the future prompts of this qijiu week#btw the one with the cliff is just the whoopsie daisy timeline where SJ accidentally falls into the Abyss trying to keep LBH from falling i#79 had a bit of a good laugh about that one#cw death#cw violence#cw blood#cw angst

''the morning light, when it comes to me, it was there but I could not see''
Arthur’s life was profoundly shaped by his self-hatred, lack of self-worth and disbelief in the existence of kindness in a seemingly dark and cruel world.
I strongly disagree with the statement that Arthur only became a ‘’better’’ man after being diagnosed with tb. His struggle with his true/inner self is apparent as early as chapter one. ‘’You are not who you think you are, sir… which is lucky’’
He has lived a rough life, raised by criminals and surrounded by violence ever since he was born. It was installed in him early that his value lied within being a violent enforcer and he has lived this life since, knowing nothing else. As a highly aware person, Arthur's actions weight heavy on his soul. He accepts that his actions have consequences. He knows that a person who has caused so much suffering is not meant to have happiness in life. His way of life has caused him to believe that he is not worthy of love or redemption. He doesn’t want to believe that a person like him could be capable of any good. (a thing to note here is that imo, Arthur’s actions near his death weren’t attempts at redemption but rather a strong desire to do right and possibly be his true self.) This is why he keeps living as he does as it’s the only thing he’s ever known, it’s the thing that brings him profit, praise from the person he looks up to and he is already damned so he might as well continue living this life anyway.
The internal problem Arthur faces is that this violent, cruel way of life doesn’t align with what I’d call his true self/ideals. He is torn between the harsh reality he has known and an unconscious yearning for righteousness/love. To be able to carry on with his actions he must enforce certain ideals within himself, such as: I am bad, ugly, nasty, ignorant, mean etc. He also decides to see the dark side of reality, telling himself that the world is a grim dark place and this is just as things were meant to be. This is why he feels so uncomfortable being complimented for his good deeds, because a bad rotten person like him should not be able to do good. It breaks the image he has built for himself and he doesn’t want that happening. This can be seen a lot during the ‘’Money Lending and Other Sins’’ missions where he is unusually mean (even for his standards) to each of the debtors. Imo, he acts this way because he must truly convince himself of being a terrible man to be able to carry out a job which revolts him so badly. In the last debt collecting mission with J. John Weathers, it can be seen in his face/expressions how much he is struggling to put on a tough, uncaring, heartless act. He needs to maintain a ruthless persona to survive in the world he knows. He must convince himself of his own cruelty.
''Forgive me, but that's the problem. You don't know you.''
Contrary to Arthur’s beliefs, he is a naturally kind-hearted person who is unconsciously drawn towards kindness. And yes, even before he was diagnosed with tb. This can be seen in the people he respects the most and, in his willingness to help strangers (notice how he often does unnecessary acts of service for total strangers such as: carrying their things, holding out hands etc. even though they had already troubled him). Despite the life he has lived, Arthur does not enjoy violence, he does not enjoy hurting people. He doesn’t want to dominate over others. He thinks mostly about others and not about himself. This fact alone is very telling of his character.
He writes about Charles, a man who he truly respects: ‘’He’s a better man than me. He does not need to think to be good. It comes naturally to him, like right is deep within as opposed to this conflict between GOOD↔EVIL that rages within me.’’ A man who is not struggling with his inner self would not have written this. To me this clearly implies an inner desire to be a better man. He writes about his mentors: ‘’I love Dutch like a father, but in many ways, I love Hosea even more. He’s kind and fair and like a human being. Dutch is something else.’’ Clearly showing a preference for Hosea who is of a more gentle nature and shows genuine kindness. Unsurprisingly, these are the people who see through his dumb/though act and encourage him to drop it.
When he comes across Brother Dorkins for the first time, he writes: ‘’(he)was one of those innocent people who make you feel better about human beings and about yourself a little. Must be odd to see all that goodness in the world. Place always seemed dark and brutal to me.’’ Expressing how he does not see goodness in the world, implying lack of good examples/kindness/good experiences in his life. Yet, the monk leaves an impression and imo, this encounter (seeing genuine goodness) disrupts Arthur’s perception of what the world truly is. ‘’Just as evil begat evil your whole life long, so good may begat good’’ (what strengthens my belief in this, is the following, symbolic scene of Arthur realising the consequences of his actions right after picking up a crucifix. He was aware of them before sure, but is unable to truly ignore them now having seen it right in front of his eyes). If only Arthur was presented with more examples of goodness in his life.

''You have it in you... I can tell!''
His desire to do as much good as possible after realising he won’t live long is instant. This would not be the mindset of someone who did not already possess kindness in his heart. ‘’Know glory and forget about shame.’’ Arthur’s shame and self-loathing caused by his previous actions were what was holding him back from allowing kindness into his life. Knowing that he has limited time left has not made him into someone he wasn’t before. The diagnosis was a catalyst, allowing him to embrace that love/goodness truly does exist and accelerate the process of chipping away from the persona he has made for himself. This was a newfound understanding for him as in the past he was rejecting any notion of kindess. In himself and perhaps the whole existence of it. ‘’You keep hidden all that matters, even from yourself.’’
After being diagnosed, he writes: ‘’What kind of a man have I been? What kind of a man am I? What world is this we live in? A land of fury or a place of love? Am I being prepared for eternal damnation? Am I past any kind of saving? Is that all fairytales? Man ain’t got much good in him. I ain’t got no good in me… I don’t think and yet I see goodness. I see it. If not in me, in good folk. In Abigail and her love for Jack. In that silly monk. In Downes, I guess. Begging not for himself but for the poor, even though he was near starving himself. Maybe I don’t want salvation. Part of me has always longed for death.’’ This entry perfectly shows how deep Arthur’s self-loathing goes and just how much it has damaged him. As his journal allows a look into his true feelings, he truly does not see a single good thing about himself. He knew for a long time that the way he lives is detestable but he could not let go of it. Not because he didn’t want to, but because it’s all that he has ever known. He didn’t believe in anything else. This sudden acceptance of goodness has allowed him to see clearly, which was obscured from him before, and for the first time, enabled him to act free of past regrets for what is right.

Arthur’s redemption is not about becoming a good man. It is about finding the strength to change and recognise your true self despite a lifetime of self-loathing and breaking free from destructive beliefs of the past.
In Arthurian legends a stag is a symbol of the unending quest of spiritual knowledge/enligtenment
#this is my own personal interpretation of arthur's redemption#i could expand so much more on this#the orange quotes are by blind man cassidy#please don’t even interact if you think arthur was just a killer incapable of goodness before he was diagnosed#the ironic thing is that so many people could see behind arthur’s front but he was blind to it#arthur morgan#red dead redemption 2#rdr2#this analysis is based purely on high-honor choices#i don't care if your arthur shoots up entire towns this analysis does not take individual open-world gameplay decisions into account#i did almost cry thinking about this#text post

So with Phaidei being basically married what are your overall thoughts on them?
Give me a little bit; I'M COOKING.
#star answers#this isn't a full breakdown of all their interactions#but I wanted to examine specifically how Hoyo queer-codes their modern male characters#and how they pushed their own boundaries by A LOT with 3.1 and#Phaidei#like it's not even a competition guys#it's a bit of an unfair situation because Haikaveh has been around for so long#and Star Rail's story moves on from individual characters faster than Genshin's does#but I would argue that Phaidei is already#to a certain extent#past Haikaveh in terms of “legitimacy”#because the devs made some choices with Phaidei that they've literally never made before#so I'm going to talk about that!#just need a bit more time to write it all up!

trying not to start an online fight in a comically inappropriate venue, but people also have some genuinely concerning misconceptions about this, so: if someone tells you that they can't go vegan because of dietary restrictions, you do not know more than they do about those restrictions in question. and they are under no obligation to share personal medical details in order to prove that you are wrong.
moreover, a world in which anyone has to "prove" their need for dietary accommodations to any authority — to say nothing of being denied them a priori because of a refusal to engage with even small scale, ethical animal husbandry — is enacting ableist violence on our bodies. personally, I want nothing more than for for-profit animal agriculture to burn with the rest of capitalism — but you have to understand that telling people like me to "just stop being selfish and stop eating animals" can only be translated as either "only eat things that make you violently ill," or "stop eating even the minimum amount of protein that a human can survive off of."
if you have an impulse to accuse me of overreacting, consider that the refusal of actual medical institutions to take legume and grain allergies seriously has caused me bodily harm throughout my life and to this day — with consequences for my overall lifespan that have yet to be revealed. I am not overreacting.
#as always i feel the need to say that to the vegans who Aren't Like This (especially the disabled vegans)#i'm so fucking sorry for putting this on your dashes because i know you all deal with so much unwarranted shit#wholeheartedly i think veganism is one of the most amazing individual choices a person can make#it's just. the things that *certain people* will say to me about it.#ableism#allergyposting#i JUST made a dietary restriction positivity post where i expressed my sympathies to people dealing with this bullshit#and within 24 hours i was subjected to the bullshit myself. sad#this is why i can't just engage in discussions about food ethics#because a vocal minority of people just refuse to listen#or to envision a future that doesn't just replicate modern-day ableism and food injustice in an environmentally friendly guise

The Point of no Return
Because I will never shut up about the Hardeen arc- I really need to emphasize the importance of this moment right here. When we think of the Hardeen arc, we only ever think about the aftermath, after the lie and after the pain. But I have never thought about the before. The moments right before.
Obi-Wan takes a deep breath, he brings his lightsaber to his chest and he gathers himself. He has to take a moment to think about what he's about to do.
This is a complete turn of feelings from when we see him wittingly ask how his funeral was, it's that simple and easy commentary that makes them all think this was easy for him to do. He shoves down what he's feeling right here and instead he jokes and laughs. He's fun and easy, he's funny, he's great, but he's not, he's not, he's in a lot of pain and he hurt everyone close to him in the worst way. Obi-Wan would never hurt them, but he has, and he'll never be forgiven.
He made this choice for the greater good, but the greater good is seldom so. It's in this moment we understand his full awareness of the deception he is about to undergo, how there is no forgiveness for the action he is about to commit, how after all this is over, Obi-Wan cannot expect forgiveness and understanding because this is for the greater good, this is for the Jedi and all they protect.
This isn't a choice for Obi-Wan. It is an assignment to a Jedi Master. Attachment is forbidden, become a part of the cosmic force, and the galaxy will benefit from your sacrifice. But the undercurrent of remorse is there, and all the people he left behind will never forgive Obi-Wan for dying.
So, Obi-Wan holds his lightsaber to his chest because it is his life, it's a silent goodbye to who he is because of what he is. He chooses the Jedi and that choice kills him. It's in that moment that he says goodbye to Anakin and Ahsoka, to Cody and himself. His identity, his lightsaber, are about to no longer exist. Obi-Wan would willingly sacrifice who he is for the sake of the Jedi but that doesn't mean it is easy for him to do. So he holds his lightsaber close because he's not becoming a part of the cosmic force, he's becoming something much worse.
#we see him do this so willingly#but this moment makes it clear that it's not something HE'S doing#it's his oath that binds him to do this#there is no choice for Obi-Wan#he is a Jedi so his life is never his to decide#he never had a choice#I could go ON AND ON#I WILL NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT THIS#this arc perfectly explains the title of Jedi and the individual#and shows you the cracks in Anakin and his faith in the Jedi#because Obi-Wan did this but Anakin would never be able to#star wars#clone wars#obi wan kenobi#commander cody#anakin skywalker#ahsoka tano#rako hardeen#Hardeen arc
