Yeah >:( I agree with everything you said. Zahn does SUCH a good job on establishing why Thrawn is a morally grey character and is VERY expansive on why he picks the Empire, which is for a very selfless, admirable reason. But Filoni dismisses all that development and just paints him a villain. My favorite (Not) fact is Filoni didn't tell Zahn he was going to use Thrawn in Rebels until EVERYONE else knew too. Like, what?? Zahn has also expressed he would LOVE to write about those eight years Thrawn and Ezra spent on Peridea and even said Ezra and Thrawn would have worked together.
speaking of Thrawn...Filoni did him so dirty. He is so far divorced from his novel counterpart that it's ridiculous. Towards the last episode, the way he treated Ezra was very frustrating. Knowing how respectful book Thrawn is to his enemies, his complete dismissive attitude towards Ezra was very disappointing.
By extension even his treatment of Kallus is weird.
Thrawn's usual mo is to send anyone who can be an asset to him to the Chiss Ascendancy, and Kallus fits the bill. Additionally, Ezra was Nightswan 2.0.
I think Thrawn was just incredibly disrespectful to Ezra in a way that nearly mirrored Pryce and her distain. He becomes less of a strategist and more of a person who underestimates his enemies. Especially Ezra. Which book Thrawn would never do.
He even speaks negatively on the Jedi Order and the Jedi as a whole. The Jedi btw who've managed to escape him MULTIPLE times.
All in all Filoni fumbled Thrawn so badly. He is evil for the sake of being evil. He uses violence where he doesn't have to.
It's such a shit show.
I hope Timothy Zahn pulls a GRR Martin and gives it to Filoni

Frederick Wentworth taking time to comfort a grieving mother and indulging her to talk about her son... helping Anne with her nephew and making sure she gets a seat in his sister’s carriage because she’s clearly tired even though no one else noticed... going to see Captain Harville as soon as he hears from him because he (Harville) suffers from an old injury... breaking the news to Captain Benwick that his fiance had died bc Harville, the lady’s brother, couldn’t bring himself to do it... offering to accompany Henrietta home after Louisa’s accident and promising to look after her... spending the journey trying to comfort her and cheering her up... being the first to tell Mr. and Mrs. Musgrove about what happened to spare them the shock of seeing Henrietta so altered... taking care of Mrs. Smith and making sure she gets a property that will give her benefits because she is Anne’s friend...

Figuring out whos endgame is disturbingly easy when you think of it like this:
El “he’s my first boyfriend” Hopper
vs.
Will “we could just play dnd and nintendo for the rest of our lives” Byers
Will says that twice, once during a fight, and a second time after their second fight. Will has never imagined a life without Mike. Even at their worst. At milkvans worst, El was happily hanging out with Max and talking about boys.
I wonder who could possibly be endgame…

I never listen to men’s opinions in general but ESPECIALLY when it comes to movies. you’re going to tell, as a man, that the barbie movie was bad? you just can’t possible understand the complexities of the transition between girlhood and womanhood that happens before it should. you have no idea what it’s like to cling so desperately onto your own imagination as an adult after spending your pre-teen/teenage years pretending that playing with dolls and wearing pink was so beneath you. you don’t understand fighting with your mother only to one day realize she is living through you and doing all that she can to make sure you go leap and bounds further than her. men couldn’t possible grasp the impact watching Barbie herself cry and say she wasn’t perfect or pretty anymore, when your whole childhood was built around carrying her in your backpack and knowing that one day you’ll be the president, an astronaut, and a model because she was. because she was yours and you were her! yeah, the movie was silly and funny and self aware and maybe you don’t think it’s “that deep”, but as a woman you just get it. as someone growing up still in your childhood bedroom that no longer has a dream house but the dolls are still above you in the attic because you can’t throw them out, you get it

jlaire reverse au! more under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is yet another AU i’ve imagined… Reverse Aged-Up Trollhunter AU ✨ whoozie
It’s her senior year at Arcadia Oaks High when suddenly Claire finds the Amulet of Daylight becoming the first human trollhunter.
In this AU, think of Claire as the gorgeous punk introvert and Jim as the golden retriever extrovert.. he can cook, do first aid, super kind, tall and handsome?! every girls dream right? and Claire’s (not so) secret crush.
She’s friends with Toby early on because of their amazing sibling chemistry and Toby’s natural charisma— he likes to help (and tease) her with her little crush on Jim.
Eventually you can imagine our iconic trio together fighting stony crime: trollhunter claire, warhammer toby, and shadow magic jimmy jam
I have lots of ideas for this fic and I’d get all into the nitty gritty but I’ll spare you haha, hope you enjoy this snippet 🤪

it confuses me when ppl say “joel doomed the world” bc are we being fucking fr? the world was already doomed (if some serious changes weren’t made). the fireflies didn’t care about humanity. they cared about seizing power from fedra. the qz’s were run by dictators and living conditions were horrible. the infrastructure was falling apart. there were raiders cannibals rapists etc. humans were a bigger problem than the infected. tommy’s commune was proof that you could survive and thrive post apocalypse but powerful groups like the fireflies and fedra refused to explore that option. circling back to ellie & joel, the fireflies took the one immune person they ever found and were rushing a lethal surgery on a non consenting 14 year old. they didn’t do any tests on her / biopsy / explore any options. they were just going to take out her brain. the doctor preforming the procedure had a bachelors in biology (lol). the chances of successfully developing a cure from this hack job surgery was impossibly low. ellie would probably die for nothing. and if the cure was created, then what? how would they mass produce it? how would they distribute it? WHO would they distribute it to? surely no one under fedra rule. the cure would solve so little on the 1% chance it worked. “joel believed the cure would work he was being selfish” ok and ? we know it wouldn’t

Instys are cowards for not giving a muscular build to at least Edelgard and Hilda. I’m talking the body of Karlach from BG3 at the bare minimum.
F!Byleth, Petra, Leonie, Bernie, Shamir, and Catherine also deserve lean muscle and somewhat defined abs. I’m willing to excuse Rhea on account of how much time she has spent not fighting, but Serios!!!
Every time someone makes fan art that gives any of them actual muscle, an angel gets their wings.
Muscular women. That’s the post.

The Point of no Return
Tumblr media
Because I will never shut up about the Hardeen arc- I really need to emphasize the importance of this moment right here. When we think of the Hardeen arc, we only ever think about the aftermath, after the lie and after the pain. But I have never thought about the before. The moments right before.
Obi-Wan takes a deep breath, he brings his lightsaber to his chest and he gathers himself. He has to take a moment to think about what he's about to do.
This is a complete turn of feelings from when we see him wittingly ask how his funeral was, it's that simple and easy commentary that makes them all think this was easy for him to do. He shoves down what he's feeling right here and instead he jokes and laughs. He's fun and easy, he's funny, he's great, but he's not, he's not, he's in a lot of pain and he hurt everyone close to him in the worst way. Obi-Wan would never hurt them, but he has, and he'll never be forgiven.
He made this choice for the greater good, but the greater good is seldom so. It's in this moment we understand his full awareness of the deception he is about to undergo, how there is no forgiveness for the action he is about to commit, how after all this is over, Obi-Wan cannot expect forgiveness and understanding because this is for the greater good, this is for the Jedi and all they protect.
This isn't a choice for Obi-Wan. It is an assignment to a Jedi Master. Attachment is forbidden, become a part of the cosmic force, and the galaxy will benefit from your sacrifice. But the undercurrent of remorse is there, and all the people he left behind will never forgive Obi-Wan for dying.
So, Obi-Wan holds his lightsaber to his chest because it is his life, it's a silent goodbye to who he is because of what he is. He chooses the Jedi and that choice kills him. It's in that moment that he says goodbye to Anakin and Ahsoka, to Cody and himself. His identity, his lightsaber, are about to no longer exist. Obi-Wan would willingly sacrifice who he is for the sake of the Jedi but that doesn't mean it is easy for him to do. So he holds his lightsaber close because he's not becoming a part of the cosmic force, he's becoming something much worse.
