The Torchwood crew's names are all kind of sucky for making ship names out of but Gwen and Owen almost feel like a deliberate attempt to nip that kind of thing in the bud before it even starts.

Their first names are only 4 letters long and identical aside from their first letter. You can't do the traditional "swap the first couple of letters" thing because you'd just end up with the same names you started with. Their last names aren't much better, 6 letters, both ending in "-per". At a pinch you could get Hooper or Carper out of it. The best you can maybe manage as something distinct is "Gowen".

I don't think it was actually deliberate but it amuses me.

i’m aware that sutekh has to be anthropomorphic sometimes, to some extent (because he’s an existing egyptian god), but i’m always thinking about how instead of sutekh *always* being anthropomorphic, modern who could’ve played with the classic who ‘man with a mask’ idea. sutekh could’ve at some points had the jackal face under his mask, but there could’ve also been moments where sutekh removed the mask and burn gorman was underneath it – because owen harper, the dead man still walking, would be the perfect ‘human disguise’ for the god of death to wear.

owen technically being a conscious, unrotting, y'know, corpse, do you think tosh or gwen or ianto or jack would look at him and feel a chill crawl up their spine? and were just too polite or too guilty to say anything about it, they did just stand by as jack used the glove (granted they didnt know why owen stayed conscious for as long as he did, but guilt is rarely logical)

would they flinch when they get too close to owen and feel just how cold a corpse can get? would they look into his too-dilated eyes and a joke would catch in their throat before remembering why?

how many quips and jests did they have to tamp down, or choke on because owen was pricklier about it when they forget why, why he hasn't had an appetite, why he looks tired, why he's being more of a twat

would they forget he was dead and nearly make a comment about how pale he's become? or is his unlivingness is too loud, too prominent to forget? and which one would owen prefer?

Okay so at the mental health place I went to for four weeks in like February/March, there was a fishtank in the corner I used to sit next to every time I went because I liked to watch the fish

I named them after Torchwood characters (obviously) and checked in on them every week

Now it's been about five weeks since I've seen them, and my parents had to go in today (without me), so I asked them to send me a picture of the fish...

AND IANTO. IANTO IS FREAKING GONE. AT SOME POINT IN THE LAST FIVE WEEKS, IANTO HAS DIED!!!!

(For context, Ianto looked like Jack with some different markings next to his head, because they swam alongside eachother at first and I thought it would be funny for them to be a pair)

So yeah, I'm now mourning for Ianto (the fish).

i’ve been tossing gwen and owen around in my mind since i started my rewatch. i keep thinking about these little bits in particular rn. kind of wanted to gif them for myself.

i like their relationship a lot, faults and all. i think there’s lots you can say about them, it’s just disappointing no one really cares.
