It is apparently canon (or as canon as the books can be) that should Tosh, Owen and Ianto have all survived, Tosh and Owen would bring Torchwood into the public eye with her as CEO. They do this by wiring jack into the building and using his life force to run the Torchwood Empire. Anyway, Gwen is on board (though absent for the time being) but Ianto comes barging through the grand opening with a pistol, demanding they give Jack back to him. He then proceeds to kill Owen, injure Tosh and get shot to a semblance of strawberry jam.

EDIT: Potential canon** would be more accurate. It is a future that may have come to pass had the team not intervened and prevented it in this book. It would not happen in the current state of canon.

I love Tosh too much, she's so gentle and cute and relatable. so was definitely my favourite character when I started watching Torchwood, and remains a top favourite of all time <3

Jack and Gwen when left alone are just those unsupervised adhd besties. They have no impulse control. Ianto can only do so much to keep them in line
