also I was gonna say that the whovians being decked out in merch just to watch the episode wasn't really necessary but then I realized I was watching the episode on my desktop which means the van gogh exploding tardis poster AND a shoebox tardis like amy made were Right Behind Me, so....you win this round russell

Something about the Doctor viewing himself as godlike (less severely Time Lord Victorious) at all times. He's life span and experience is so vast, he holds privilege. He has authority over most of the species he has encountered. Playing with gods is fun and dandy until you realize that they won't die but you will. Doctor's hands are smeared with blood. The power imbalance is always there, so he doesn't even think to ask before invading someone's privacy in the most intimate way. He doesn't think he has to because he's just this brilliant scientist/traveller and he assumes everybody will love the life of adventure, everybody will be enthralled by him. And mostly, they are. That's why I love companions who stand their ground and don't let The Doctor's brilliance blind them, coerce them into things they don't want to do. We should have more companions who are critical of him not just smitten with him
