Hi everyone, serious post!
If you've been following me for a while or you're a mutual of mine, you probably already know that I'm Native American, but I feel the need to expand a little bit.
I'm a member of the Chinook Indian Nation - I don't expect you to know that name. We've been fighting for recognition as long as I've been alive, even though we've been here since the beginning of European presence in the West Coast, and long before it.
We are constantly fighting. The vast majority of our population was killed by disease and colonization, and with that we lost our language. But after that hardship we are still here. We are still alive. The government has effectively spat in our faces and said that not only are we unworthy of their time - we are unworthy of respect. Of dignity. I'm asking you, the people who take the time to read this post to dedicate even a fraction of your time to signing our petitions, boosting this post, or using the ChinookJustice hashtag on any major social media platform.
We don't just want our land back, we want our home back. We want the bodies of our ancestors, which are routinely dug up during construction. We want the relics of our tribe that are hanging up in museums to be returned, but first there needs to be a home for them to return to. Our campaigns have shockingly low amounts of signatures, but I'm hoping that the good people I know are here can change that.
Here you can sign the petition to restore our federal recognition. Here residents of Washington and Oregon state can contact their legislators in support of federal recognition for the Chinook Nation. Here you can donate to help us continue fighting. Here you can find information about Chinook justice, and here is our official Instagram.
If you spent time reading this, thank you, but if you went out of your way to sign our petitions, donate, or spread awareness, I love you for it.
#chinook justice#native american#native american justice#chinook indian nation#activism#petition#social justice#if you see this and you're chinuk feel free to dm me if you'd like to confirm my identity or just chat#my dms are also open for anyone who has questions about chinook justice / how you can help etc

So my post on Oklahoma making it legal to take indigenous children from their parents without tribal consent is blowing up, and I'm glad people are horrified. But what I need people to know is that this might happen on a national level.
The Supreme Court is debating overturning the Indian Child Welfare Act.
What this act does is give Native American and Alaska Native tribes and nations control over the foster and adoption placement of their children. To overturn it would be to say tribes and nations aren't sovereign, and it would also allow the U.S. government to forcibly assimilate indigenous children into other cultures.
Please:
Spread the word about what is happening.
Read online news articles about this; the more traffic on those articles, the more likely the press is to write more articles.
If there are protests in your area, join them.
If there are indigenous nations or tribes in your area, ask them how you can help.
Donate to indigenous rights organizations like Native American Rights Fund.
Write to your representatives.
If ICWA falls, keep all of the above up. Don't just shrug and think it's over.

Why did I already see two posts talking about how weird it is that Pavitr and Hobie are besties despite Pavitr’s clear resentment towards the British?
Like what parallels do you people even conjure up between White monarch colonizers stealing Indian possessions vs a Black anarchist punk?
Y’all just stay calling Black people colonizers for no reason
#across the spiderverse#hobie brown#pavitr prabhakar#there are Black and Indian people living in Britain for a reason did y’all consider that?#anyways same energy as calling Black Americans colonizers

It was Indigenous People's Day so I made some intersex + Indigenous flags
Since I've been on a roll in making intersex flags. First: flags for the three major types of Indigenous groups whose lands were stolen to create the country I live in (Canada):
Left: intersex and First Nations (American Indian Movement) Middle: intersex and Inuit Right: intersex and Métis
Then I made some intersex flags for some specific First Nations whose cultures I have at least basic familiarity with: Left: Haida ................... Middle: Huu-ay-aht ......... Right: Musqueam
Left: Blackfoot ........... Middle: Anishinaabe ...... Right: Haudenosaunee
Note: The last three are confederacies of multiple nations. Order is based on geography, going west to east.
Personal Note: I am a settler and am not a member of any of these nations. I've moved many times in my life, and these nations are the rightful stewards of the lands that I personally feel I have the most connection to. 💜
Tagging for archival: @intersexflags @varsex-pride @radiomogai @beyond-mogai-pride-flags

So anyway -
The point is that Pizza Tower still has a racist, outdated stereotype of Indigenous people in the Oregano Desert level.
It even has a achievement for rain dancing around a totem pole (totem poles are a Pacific Northwest thing, not a Plains Tribe thing). They war cry at you and they throw tomahawks (because it's always tomahawks or spears).
Bellyache about the screencaps being 5 years old if you want, but the stereotype made it into the game, so he hasn't changed that much. He didn't change enough to have a shred of awareness about using a racist stereotype. And before anyone tries: that trope isn't a hallmark of Wario games or 90s animation, it's a hallmark of racism.
Even if he "doesn't" make bigoted jokes anymore (though I would consider the Tribe Cheese one such joke), he made an entire level based around that trope.
And like every other time there's an anti-Indigenous caricature in videogames or popular media, it doesn't get mentioned, or it gets glossed over because the creator went "Oopsie! That was cringe."
The exclusion of the Tribe Cheese from that salvo of screenshots undermines the entirety of it, because it's a solid example of him not having changed enough to be conscious beyond "that was unfunny," and everyone just focuses on what he said and when - without the connection to how that mindset still lingers in the final product of the game.
#mcpig#pizza tower#tribe cheese#indigenous people play games! we exist in modern society! we are not dead!#like not to be the mean indigenous person but i LIKE the game and it felt like shit to get to that level and that#and no i wasn't going to be able to move on until i said something about it#creators make western levels without being fucking racist challenge#also if you are american and played through this game and didn't even blink an eye at that but still went#''hm. gotta be critical of my media.'' like HOW critical are we talking#like you saw cheese indians and said ''yeah that's so normal.''
