A question he never really pondered before. The life of a Nameless was not one that included much leisure time, or a truly extended amount of time to form bonds of that intensity that such an event could be led up to. Memories in the form of dreams had long since been something he experienced on a semi regular basis, showing him days past of his previous incarnation spending intimate time alone with a man who clearly meant a certain way to him that no one else in his inner circle did, a man he was clearly in love with.

But those days for Dan Feng were not those of him in the present, and though Dan Heng had met many people during his time with the Express who had become allies for the Nameless, none had yet left such an impression on the Vidyadhara that he felt such a thing could be possible for him. The shrug of the noirs shoulders was so slight it could have been missed, the expression on his face not conveying much of a reaction when there wasn't much for him to say.

"With my life currently the way it is, it is very unlikely that such a thing is in the cards for me. Traveling the cosmos as a Nameless is a constant, and setting down roots somewhere for a bond like that to be found with someone else doesn't seem very likely. That's not to say it's impossible, but my place right now is on the Express with my friends and it's not something I'm really prioritizing for myself."

healing from my procedure has been an ache and a half but i finally got the energy to work on some sketches, the only thing really distracting me from all of this discomfort haha. i finished these exploration sketches of obasi today :)

despite obasi’s stoic, hard appearance, she’s got a soft interior. within, she’s got a gentle heart and a passion for something more than just her complex work as a vigilante organization leader in haderia. while she is most certainly dedicated to her her work, she sometimes dwells about a different kind of life that is forever out of reach.

One thing I love about nukani is that they keep finding ways to cameo non-focus characters in the events. The big one is the fact that in every event with 3 SSRs they manage to gather the whole clan in one place, with no exceptions. But even in the other events you get a couple of the others showing up for a scene or two. Garu and Kuya making a surprise visit to the maid cafe. Olivine being the priest that comes to pray with the prisoners, then Yakumo and Blade clinging to Eiden when it's all over. Dante just happening to be there when the spell on the mansion breaks and all the doors start leading to random places. Rei being consulted whenever research is involved, Edmond appearing any time a criminal gets arrested, Quincy showing up whenever something happens in the forest. And that's not to mention Aster and Morvay - they have to find every reason to bring them in because they're never the focus characters.

It's so good because it shows how intertwined their lives are, not just with Eiden but with each other. They're friends, so of course they'll just be around. Doesn't matter if they live together or if they're getting directly involved or whatever, they'll always be present in each other's lives. It's happening more often than it did in the past, too (it's basically every event now!), which shows how much closer everyone has gotten. Whether the focus characters are regaling a story, asking for help or just saying hi, they make a point of including the cameo characters. And I just think that's so neat.

I know I wrote the Would You Fall in Love With Me Again fic with Sunday already, but now I’m also thinking about the song with Blade in a much more tragic way.

In a way I didn’t see fitting Sunday, I think Blade fits Odysseus’ position of changing seemingly for the worse, especially that moment of rage he has when Penelope asks him to move the wedding bed.

Blade doesn’t have Yingxing’s memories of you. Maybe he hears about you when he returns to the Xianzhou as a Stellaron Hunter, picking up bits and pieces of his past, or he feels that innate tie to you like he does Dan Heng. Yet, he doesn’t know why you loved him. He doesn’t know why you still love him, and it makes him angry.

And after Yingxing was cursed with immortality and became Blade, you waited and waited to see him again. Even when he stands before you again, you will continue waiting because Blade doesn’t know you. You may wait forever because that “I love you” isn’t reciprocated.

If I see one more take about Orym being "secretive" in taking the sword, I swear I might start screaming. The dude walked up to Chet in front of everyone, asked for access to the Bag of Holding, took the sword out (in front of everyone) and left with it. Then he came back with the sword strapped to his back... IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. There was ample time for someone to speak up if they wanted to and Orym, quite frankly, didn't have reason to expect it would be an issue. Laudna may have used the lack of discussion as part of her cycle of justifications for her actions, but that doesn't mean it was 1) the main issue she was actually dealing with or 2) an unsolvable problem that required a rash response even if that had been Laudna's primary issue.
