PRACTICE PAGES FT. ANKETHIA ! :D ( character is butch, she/her! )

here is some recent practice pages i did with my old gal ankethia as my muse! XD

ankethia has rather light armor crafted from various bleached xenomorph bones and the remains of other creatures. she’s already got some super tough, leathery skin that’s difficult to tear into. now that she’s a retired hunter turned ancient clan leader, there isn’t much need for this armor anymore. it currently stands on a custom armor stand that one of her clanmates made for her some time ago. every now and again, though, she likes to put her armor on and drink up the nostalgia.

a moody sketching from last night, inspired by a silly post i saw. but then it turned serious because i started reflecting on obasi as a character, so i then i ended up drawing her musing at 3 am over a glass of cheap whiskey

would have pushed the rendering and colors more but i think the partial render was quite satisfying as is

oh, also, few of these will have speedpaints to accompany them once they’re completed!

after many months, i've finished this huge piece! pierre rampages through a city after awakening from what had allegedly been his demise. this is no life for him, yet now he is cursed to roam in this horrid body that bleeds rot across the land. whatever he's become now, he is beyond death...when death is all that he ever wanted.

if you aren't already familiar with pierre, he is a character from my body horror short story "PALE SKIN", which you can read H E R E ! one day i hope to do an extended version of the story.

these pages of noctis have been sitting around in my WIP pile for a bit, so between working i decided to finish them up!

noctis is so much fun to draw and i’ve finally nailed a consistent look for how i want her scars to have healed, especially when connecting them to her prosthetic arm. and honestly? she’s just got some mad vibes all around and i really wanted to nail that here >:)

in honor of almost being done with "BITC: bitter medicine" chapter 1, i drew this silly comic of noctis and obasi that's not supposed to be serious. but honestly considering how unserious noctis is, i wouldn't put it past her to say something stupid like she does in the last panel

OF BLOOD AND WIRES What a loathsome sound; the sound of machinery turning in on itself, computers exchanging encrypted words of the unknown. This too she had grown used to. Yet, as the days passed, as the machines clattered against one another and the computers chanted their rituals, she was reminded of everything she once was and will never be again. Day by day, data-laced words become more comprehensible. Nadia began to understand why the machines partook in this never ending battle. Olympus made them this way, just as they had made her this way. Now, Nadia was no different from the machines and computers. Nadia wondered, do the machines and computers feel the same way as she did? She pondered if they too sit in stagnant solitude, watching the world pass them by, wanting to reach out and greet the men and women that stared down at them everyday. Nadia had the privilege of experiencing the world before the Automaton was conceived, Nadia drank the riches of mortality. Whilst now, combined as one, the Automaton was cursed, knowing that as long as the machines turned their cogs, she too would turn, immortally, with them.

an illustration i drew in a livestream last night, accompanied by a drabble that's been rotating in my mind for a while. nadia's story is rooted in digital transhumanism and the emotions-- or lack thereof-- that accompany technological enhancement. one day i'll get around to a full short story about nadia and her tragedy...

CHAINSAW THE BASTARD, BLOODSTAINED APE ( chainsaw is a woman, she/her! )

There wasn't much left to do for him. He was gone anyway. Zuron had hoped the surgery would be successful, but it seemed that nature had other plans. Though mother nature would not reclaim this body just yet. Zuron knew that Chainsaw would find purpose for the patient, even in death. He would make a fine addition to her collection... At least until he'd make an even better meal.

a fun experimental piece with chainsaw (with bonus doodles!) because i was itching to give her some love. i tried out some new techniques with this and it was a blast to work on. chainsaw is definitely a bit of her mind but hey, she's thriving. chainsaw is one of the more macabre characters of “blade in the city”. after all BITC is a psychological horror story after all, so it’s not like she doesn’t fit into the crowd. i really wanna draw her more, even if she doesn’t have a huge role in the overall narrative :P

for context: chainsaw is a special ally to the phantoms and she is a somewhat reformed practicing cannibal (despite variants, all animans are considered the same “species” because of base variant DNA, so yes, it is technically cannibalism) that works for my orangutan animan, zuron as surgical assistant. she owns her own moturary as well! whatever zuron can't salvage in surgery, he often gives it to chainsaw to make something out of it. usually that something is a meal or taxidermy...

on the bright side she isn't hunting any animans anymore. she also helps zuron with organ harvesting and dealing. organ dealing is very important in a world were most of the population are biomachines, especially in a city like haderia.
