A couple of days ago, I came across this post (that I reblogged I think) about how one of the tragedy of Bruce and Jason's relationship was that Jason doesnā€™t know/believe Bruce loves him while Bruce thinks Jason knows how much he loves him. And I have since realized it's the same with Dick during his earlier Nightwing years.
Bruce thinks Dick knows how much he loves him, so he doesn't try to prove it, because he thinks it's obvious. He doesn't reach out, because Dick needs space and he must already know how Bruce loves him anyway. However, Dick thinks Bruce doesn't love him, and he is waiting for Bruce to reach out to show that he does, and when he doesnā€™t, he thinks it means Bruce doesn't love him.
Bruce thinks he has communicated clearly to his kids that he loves them so much, but he actually hasn't. He communicated it in his way, but the message didn't translate to others. This is probably because he is neurodivergent and grew up secluded from others, with Alfred and Leslie who have learned to understand him, so he doesn't realize his way doesn't work with everyone.

thinking how Dick always finds ways to hang out with his brothers. but reality is that, they have grown with different schedules and locations and responsibilities. his brothers have partners now. Jason is a dad for goodness sake.
Dick finds himself often emotional. he is a man nearing his 30's, but he still often misses his younger brothers.
so Dick tries.
Dick, calls Jason, who is in Star City: Hey, Little Wing. You free this Saturday? There's a new action movie. Want to check it out?
Jason, pouts at the other end of the phone: Sorry, Dickie. I have to attend to Lian's reading playdate at her friend's house. Roy refuses to go.
Dick, feels a pang on his chest: Oh, of course, yeah. I'm glad you're there to teach Roy how to read.
Jason, laughs which makes Dick smile: Hey, lay off! But maybe we can watch another movie next month? My schedule is kinda booked this month-
Dick, doesn't mean to cut his brother off: No problem, Jay. Next time, yeah? Maybe me and Wally can visit soon.
Jason: You both should. Lian is asking for her favorite uncles. Please don't tell Tim and Conner I told you that.
Dick, laughs: I'll see you soon, Little Wing. Miss you. Say "hi" to Lian for me. And "fuck you" to Roy for me.
Jason, chuckles which makes Dick smile again: You got it, Goldie. See ya!
Dick keeps trying.
Dick knocks on the door of Tim's room and cherishes this moment, because Tim is barely at the Manor. Well, none of them mostly are at the Manor for years now. He enters when Tim says "come in".
Dick: Timmy!! Want to try this new coffee-
he closes his mouth when he sees Tim in front of the mirror, wearing a suit and fixing a tie.
Dick, frowns: Oh, you leaving already?
Tim bites his lip as he concentrates to fixing the tie. Dick chuckles and approaches Tim to do it for him.
Tim: Yes, going to Metropolis for a business meeting. Then off to New York after, booked that hotel for me and Kon.
Tim gestures to the packed bag on the floor.
Dick, feels a pang on his chest: Oh, right right. I almost forgot.
he backs up and smiles at his brother.
Dick: Well, looks like you're ready to go. You look handsome, Baby Bird.
Tim, smiles: Thank you, Dick.
he gives Dick a quick hug and Dick wishes it was longer.
Tim: See you next week, Dick!
Dick: Have fun! See you, Timmy!
before Tim exists his room, he turns around.
Tim: You were saying something a while ago? Sorry, I didn't catch it.
Dick: It's nothing.
Tim: You better tell me when I come back. Bye, Dick!
Dick, says to the empty room: Bye...
and Dick keeps trying.
Dick is barely with Damian during patrols anymore, so he's glad his brother called for back up, since Bruce was in another planet with the Justice League. Damian has grown so much, he's been using new suits, because he has outgrown a few of the older ones.
Nightwing: Hey, Robin. Want to catch some Big Belly burgers after we freshen up?
Robin: I think I'll have to pass, Nightwing. Superboy is picking me up in a few.
Nightwing, feels a pang on his chest: Right, right. He better not drop you.
Robin, snorts, but he smiles so Nightwing smiles also: He would never.
before Nightwing leaves Robin on the rooftop, he leans down to kiss the top of his head. it hits him that very long ago, he acted as his father figure when Batman was gone.
Nightwing: Take care, okay? Love you.
Nightwing thought he would not get a response, but as soon as he turns around to head for home, he hears Robin.
Robin: Love you, Akhi.
Dick has come to accept that his brothers are grown up now. that maybe he wasn't part of their lives anymore, he could honestly cry-
so when the door opens of their house, he expects to see Wally, bringing flowers and food like usual, but he sees his brothers instead. Jason has a box on his hand, which happens to be a copy of the movie they were supposed to watch. Tim has a bag of coffee from the new cafe place. Damian has a bag from Big Belly Burger. and if there tears on his eyes when they hang out that night, at least he's got his brothers to cuddle with on the couch.

Just how true do you think the sentiment of ā€œbruce was still a child who didnt get to grow up/move on until he met dickā€?
Very true! Actually-Alfred straight up says it-true!
This scene is when Dick was accepted by Batman to become robin.
I was actually going to use this for another Dick and Alfred post but let me just drop it here that Dick cares about Alfred so much!!
Like this boy is the sweetest, most caring person ever. He asks the butler if it's okay for him to become robin-who does that?! Who would think of doing that?! He's the most considerate, softest baby ever! The tiny, nervous, shy smile on his face in the second panel <33333
Tumblr media
Here's the answer: "And while he most certainly became a man...I don't think he ever became an adult."
But Alfred says it twice!
Tumblr media
"But Alfred always used to say Bruce would have self-destructed if he hadn't met me and learned some responsibility."
My other post about Bruce and Dick has a lot of images that talk about this idea too
That's why I love Bruce and Dick's relationship so much. They are so codependent on each other. While Bruce saved Dick (not from being angry. He wasn't an angry robin, istg.), Bruce also would have died without Dick.
Before Bruce met Dick, he was on a one way track to his own ending. He was reckless, didn't take precautions, and was on the verge of being consumed by the darkness of which he was fighting.
At this time, a boy came along that shined light down upon him (literally because of the circus stage lights lol) and he was taken by him instantly.
With a new partner-a child-by his side Bruce was forced to take precautions, learn how to operate as a human being, and was just happy to have someone who bright and cheerful. He used Dick as an emotional crutch from losing his mind.
Tumblr media
"Still, the addition of Dick Grayson into the Master's crusade has made a difference in him."
Tumblr media
"I do believe I saw him smile. There have even been occasions in the pantry when I could just discern the muffled sounds of laughter echoing up from the dreadful cavern beneath the manor."
There are so many occasions where Alfred talks about how extraordinarily important Dick is to Bruce.
Dick raised Bruce.
Tumblr media
To borrow a lyric line that explains this:
"Take a broken man right in my hands And then put back all his parts"
Dick's "i can fix him" issues which are a massive part of his relationship with Deathstroke come from acting as a child parent to Bruce.
But the greatest part?
He still is.
Again and again and again. Dick is the only person Bruce relies on. He never tells anyone his secrets or worries unless that person is Dick. And often he bears the brunt of the work by his family. Both Tim and Jason have gotten angry at him for taking Bruce's side or supporting Bruce but the thing is, he's the only one who can next to Alfred. Tim has accused and praised him of being too much like Batman sometimes but when you raise a kid (adult-sized) I think you're bound to forgive them while also admonishing them for their mistakes.
They also use Dick as the unofficial spokesperson to talk to Bruce
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hey. Tim told me about Zur. Are you alright?"
Side note: Tim tried talking to Bruce earlier but Bruce kept ignoring his concerns.
For each robin, Dick acts as the emotional go between Bruce and them.
Jason:
Tumblr media
Jason's sad face :'(
That moment meant so much to him
Tim:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another reason why Dick and Tim are so close is because Dick acted like the parent during Tim's robin era. It wasn't until recent comics that they had Bruce actually even caring about Tim.
Damian:
Tumblr media
Also Dick and Damian father and son moment <33
Tumblr media
Dick the fixer upper. Always fixing everyone's family issues. With each other or with Bruce.
Also the scene of Martha Wayne thanking Dick
Tumblr media
There's a comic panel where Bruce says "Dick is the glue that holds the family together."
Dick is literally the light of his life. Without him Bruce would've lost it. It was the perfect combination of Dick's cheerful personality, strong ethics, and tragic backstory that caused Bruce to take him in and it was these same traits that helped him grow. Because Dick's distinguishable trait is that he humanizes people. And Dick humanized and raised Bruce.

curses, like chickens by Kaekokat14, Tierfal. After the sudden death of his wife, Natsuo falls apart ā€“ and his two young sons end up with Enji.
My Hero Academia (Enji/Hawks). This is the best fic I read this year. It is an amazing study on the Natsuo and Enji's relationship. It also has some of the best (and most complex) depictions of grief and forgiveness I've read in a fanfiction.
Carry No Burden by RohanBerry. Katsuki and Touya have been talking online for months. When Katsuki Presents as an Omega and triggers Touyaā€™s Rut they are forced to admit they are drawn to each other. But as they try to navigate their complicated relationship they are forced to deal with outside issues.
Katsuki is evicted from Pack 1A when they find out the true extent of his middle school bullying and heā€™s too busy trying to hide his motherā€™s abuse to fix anything. Touya is helpless to do anything as his Omega is forced to face foe after foe.
Follow Katsuki and Touya, as they go from a hero and a villain, to a power couple the rest of Japan idolises, one slow step at a fucking time.
My Hero Academia (Bakugou/Dabi). Reading this fic felt self indulgent in the best way. It has all of my favorite ABO tropes and some great smut. There are some interesting background pairings and (some) LOV redemption if you enjoy that. Also, super long so it will keep you busy.
Lessons Learned by Sif (Rosae). Rather than the police station, Katsuki's friends bring him to a hospital after rescuing him from the villains. His wounds were minor, but it didn't make having them treated any less important. As it would so happen, Best Jeanist was also brought to this hospital after the attack.
Sometimes, small choices have a big impact on how a story plays out.
--------------- Aka: Best Jeanist Acquires A Son. Featuring: Serious talks regarding abuse and emotional scars, one adult finally stepping the hell up and trying to help Katsuki, me going off about the sports festival because I'm still not over it, pro-heros having a group chat, and Katsuki finally getting a chance to learn how to be good.
My Hero Academia (Gen). The worst part about this fic is that made me crave Dad Jeanist with Bakugou and it isn't as popular to write about as Dadwaza. This was also my most reread fic this year.
A Sad Song With Nothing To Say by WakingNightmares. It starts with the Make A Wish foundation, and ends with a funeral.
Which, Bruce supposes, is unfortunately how things involving the Make A Wish foundation usually work. But what happens in-between catches him completely off-guard.
DC (Gen). This is a wonderfully painful character study of Jason Todd. It will make you cry but its worth it.
Malfoy Home for Lost Children by Craftybadger1234. After the war, Draco accidentally becomes responsible for a whole passel of children. Along the way, he has to dodge Harry Potter nosing around in his business.
Harry Potter (Draco/Malfoy). This is the first HP fic I've loved enough to bookmark. I enjoyed the focus on Slytherins and their friendships. Plus, cute kids.
Lightning's End by evils. Sanji thinks heā€™s finally in the clear after escaping Whole Cake Island, until the Thousand Sunny encounters a freak storm that sweeps him and Luffy overboard.
Stranded, they face new trials that force them to confront truths about the strange island theyā€™re on, and about each other.
One Piece (Sanji/Luffy). This fic made me love this ship. I really enjoyed how the writer wrote Luffy. It also had a fun bit of mystery as well.
Salvage by MuffinLance. Mid-Season-One Zuko is held for ransom by Chief Hakoda. Ozai's replies to the Water Tribe's demands are A+ Parenting. Hakoda isā€¦ deeply concerned, for this son that isn't his, and who might be safer among enemies than with his own father.
Avatar The Last Airbender (Gen). There is a reason this fic has so many comments and kudos. Muffinlance manages to create a whole cast of interesting characters. If you love found family like me, this is the fic for you.
Tracing a Sparrow on Snow-Crested Ground by whisperedstory. Tied up and left to die at the hands of a monster, Jaskier is sure his life is overā€”but then he's rescued by a group of witchers, led by none other than the White Wolf himself. The witchers offer Jaskier shelter with their group as they travel to Tretogor to negotiate with Redania, and a new home once they return to Kaer Morhen.
Jaskier is hopeful that he will be able to start over in Kaedwen. What he doesn't expect is to end up being married to Geralt as part of the treaty.
The Witcher (Jaskier/Geralt). This fic has all the best Witcher fanfic tropes. Warlord Geralt, arranged marriages, non-human Jaskier. With the smut and hurt/comfort, it was everything I wanted.
The Kids Will Be Alright, Eventually by NotWithThatAttitude. Bakugou is spiraling in the aftermath of Kamino and his friends are starting to notice. He's stubborn, aggressively independent, and less than willing to dig into his past, but after a breakdown that ends with a painfull secret revealed, he starts to get help.
Whether he likes it or not.
Meanwhile, a new kind of villain threatens an uneasy peace following the loss of Allmight. Whispers build as a new narrative slowly takes shape: Hero society needs to change.
Feat. Therapy, Dadzawa, best boy Kirishima, dysfunctional families, healing, growing up, and the mortifying ordeal of being known.
My Hero Academia (Bakugou/Kirishima). The subject matter in this fic can make it a challenge to read. But it is a fantastic exploration of trauma. It has a great amount of Dadwaza and Bakugou growing as a person as well.
Butterfly Effect by Frecklefrog. ā€œGo, Mob, melt it!ā€ screeches Reigen, and Mob extends his hand, already coated with the swirling blue discs of his aura. Only-
Only he canā€™t exorcise the spirit, because there isnā€™t one, and the boy is staring at him with wide blue eyes. His hand is glowing the same yellow as the basket.
(in which Teruki meets Mob much, much earlier.)
Mob Psycho 100 (Gen). This was the first MP100 fic I read after finishing the show. I love found family and this one was great. I loved seeing Teru learning to accept help from others and Reigen was a delight.

okay but Wayne!sibling!Reader being a villain?? one day she steals Wayne Enterprises from Bruce when he gets too caught up in Batman stuffs hoping it would garner his attention but he happily signs off on it and it irritates her cause she just wants his attention she wonā€™t admit it but she feels Bruce put her on the back burner in favour of Batman and that burner only got colder with every child he adopted so she becomes a straight up villain just to spend time with him. not doing anything super illegal that the company couldnā€™t shell out some money to fix but enough to garner his attention. and he has absolutely no idea itā€™s his baby sister beating his ass on a weekly basis. all the Bat Kids know though and are just grinning like madmen in the background.
I love the idea of Wayne!Sister!Reader taking up being a villain but sheā€™s a baddie who does good. Like she steals from bigger more corporate businesses only to give to smaller and harder working businesses, especially local family owned ones. Or she goes after people and places that are pretty terrible themselves whether it be a testing facility that does its testing strictly on animals or an abusive parent/foster home/orphanage.
It would also be kind of funny if the Reader fully divulged themself into villainy only to just mildly inconvenience Batman/her brother. Like she doesnā€™t really mean to do good, itā€™s not their #1 intention, she just wants to put a damper in Bruce being Batman but instead they inadvertently do really good and beneficial things in the process. Like, oops she accidentally destroyed an entire apartment complex, luckily no one was harmed in the process but fortunately it was also not up to living standards to begin with and is now being completely rebuilt with everything being like and working how it should have from the start.
Bruce actually finds this new up and coming villain quite amusing and dare he say that he enjoys their interactions with each other. At first he wouldnā€™t be any the wiser to his new foe being his sister because of course that would be in no way, shape, or form a thought in his mind that his own beloved baby sister would be out causing ā€˜havocā€™ on the city, on their home. Hell, he probably doesnā€™t even think his sister has any idea about him being Batman. He didnā€™t even think twice when they took Wayne Enterprises right from under him, he didnā€™t see it like that at all. I could even see Bruce being delusional unsuspecting enough to believe that the Reader was only taking up the company as to give him a break and allow him to do more of his own thing (i.e be able to protect the city and do his Batman responsibilities without much more to hold him back or take up his attention). So of course he wouldnā€™t think much about his own baby sister taking on the company from him, if anything he kinda thought it was cute. Especially seeing his precious baby sister taking on the role of CEO. Heā€™d totally have Lucius take discreet photos or videos of the Reader being a girlboss in meetings and whatever business dealings, all just to see his sister be a strong businesswoman and run the company all on her own.
I also really love the idea that even though the Reader felt left out on the back burner she was still a prominent figure in the kids lives and adored them to no end. Of course she loved seeing her brother be as much of a father to the kids as he could be, putting much necessary time and attention into them that was taken away from her. Like, she didnā€™t resent them or anything like that for coming into the picture and ā€˜stealingā€™ her brother from her but instead helped be something the kids needed and could trust when they felt they couldnā€™t go to Bruce. But as much as she loves and cares for her nieces and nephew and vice verse that did that keep her from still feeling abandoned by Bruce.
I could definitely see after becoming Batman that Bruce and the Readerā€™s relationship changed. The Reader certainly felt the change, the two used to be inseparable and so close but now it felt like there was a void between them. At least thatā€™s how the Reader felt. Bruce doesnā€™t think anything is any different, he hasnā€™t picked up on any change. When the Reader does try to spend time with him and he turns them down in favor of crime fighting or something else, he always promises to make it up but he never does, probably due to forgetting but the Reader remembers and it weighs them down each and every time he turns them away for something or someone else. Sheā€™s kept her hurt to herself but it only got worse until she decided to move out of the manor, away from the kids and away from Bruce. She didnā€™t even tell Bruce, she just up and left without breathing a word of it to him. Hell, she may not have told anyone except Alfred that she was moving out. Alfred was only told because the Reader didnā€™t want to worry him, out of everyone in the family he was the one she didnā€™t want to be concerned about her. I also donā€™t doubt that Alfred is very well aware of the Readerā€™s feelings of being unwanted or uncared for regarding Bruce and heā€™s tried to help the Reader in his own way to get Bruce to spend some kind of time with his sister only for him too to end up waved off or turned away.
I could also see the kids having started paying less attention to the Reader once they took up fighting crime with Bruce, especially the older ones who moved out and were doing their own thing now. It would only add to the Readerā€™s feeling of being abandoned and left behind leading them to just leaving the manor and everyone else altogether.
If things werenā€™t so serious and this whole thing wasnā€™t a detrimental way to try and save/rekindle the Reader and Bruceā€™s brother-sister relationship in itself own way, then I could see the kids finding some amusement in it. But they would all still be very worried about the Reader, sure Bruce as Batman isnā€™t going off on her like he does with his rogue gallery or other criminals but that doesnā€™t mean that the Reader still canā€™t end up hurt or in real peril. The kids would try their best to help the Reader in their own ways but I think eventually someone would just crack and tell Bruce that heā€™s been fighting his own sister this whole time and giving her reason for it too. Bruce needs some time to process it but then he puts thing together himself and it all makes sense. He feels awful knowing that his baby sister felt like this was the only way she could spend time with him or have more of an interaction with him then heā€™s given her outside of this. He honestly feels like complete shit and a terrible brother, especially when heā€™s reminded of a promise he made her when they were younger after their parents died about always being there for each other and that she could count on him over anyone else. And heā€™s gone and fucked it all up.
I canā€™t help but have the idea that Bruce was slowly pulling back from his sister because he caught on to his obsessive tendencies and he didnā€™t want to turn into something much darker when it came to his beloved baby sister. He wanted her to be able to exist and thrive in the world without him holding her back, but now that he knows his baby sister went to these lengths for his time and attention he feels justified in indulging in his yandere behavior. And leave it to the kids to follow suit, especially after finding out the Reader felt abandoned by them too.

WIP Fanfic - Of Spiders & Birds
Of Spiders & Birds
By: gildedlady on AO3
Rating: M for light/referenced sexual content and violence
Summary:
If Peter had been fifteen or so years younger, a newly minted Spider-Man with everything to prove and no one to prove it to, and he had been flung across universes to Gotham, he might have found himself in a different situation. Dick would have done his damnedest to take him in, would have pulled his family in to help. Jason would have been pulled into protecting yet another street rat, Tim would have bonded with him over technology and nerdy shit, Damian would have been wary and unimpressed, and if Bruce were there, he would have taken this kid under his wing, like he did every stray orphan that showed promise that had nowhere to go and no one to call home. Peter, at fifteen, had been reckless, and stupid, and impetuous, and desperate to please. He wanted to make up for his mistakes, take responsibility for his city, and prove to everyone that he could do it.Ā
He wouldā€™ve hidden himself from the Bats, done everything he could to fix what he could in Gotham while he tried to find a way back home. He wouldā€™ve gotten himself hurt, and they would have taken him in. He would have found himself in their giant penthouse or manor or wherever the hell rich people lived, and they would have taken care of him until he found a way to get home to his city. Thirty year old Peter? Who had a daughter to take care of, a husband and daughter to get home to? Peter knew Gotham was a shit hole. Peter knew there was no way to get home without magic, or science, or some weird convoluted mixture of both. Peter needed to get home so he could go back to his life, where May wasnā€™t forced into becoming some fucked up child soldier like Damian and the rest of the Bats. Where she and Ellie could squabble and hug it out, where she could grow up semi peacefully. Peter wanted to curl up with Wade at the end of a long day of work, wanted to have their movie nights and read the girls Percy Jackson and kiss their foreheads before turning off the lights. He wanted to pat Miles on the back, drag the kid into a hug when he graduated college. He wanted to put fresh flowers on Aunt May and MJā€™s graves, and sit with them for a little bit while he gushed about how well Mayday and Ellie were doing in school. He wanted to go home, and not because he had some convoluted sense of duty or honor, but because he had people to love, to care for, to protect.Ā
Batman and his birds could deal with Gotham, and all itsā€™ fucked up rogues. Peter was going to get his fucking daughter home if it killed him.Ā  Mayday was his responsibility. Getting home was his mission. Anything else was superficial.Ā

Reverse Robins AU - Outline
Sorry but this is a long one and a sum of my current ideas. A lot has changed from my first post.
Batman = Battinson or Brucie (either way Bruce is a good if not mid dad because I said so and I get to decide)
Damian starts off with the League until the recently formed Justice League makes a move against them. The mission is barely successful and Damian gets hit in the crossfire. The JL is horrified that the League would have a kid there and they take him to be fixed up. DNA tests are run to figure out who this kidā€™s parents are and they learn heā€™s Bruce and Taliaā€™s son. Bruce has to step up and be a father for this small, violent, traumatized child and does so by letting him be his sidekick. Damian decides to go by Nighthawk. Eventually Dami wants to become his own hero and he becomes JadeWing. When Batman dies he takes up the cowl as a sense of duty but is seen constantly shirking his responsibilities.Ā
Duke (he does not have meta powers) sees that Riddler has control of the city so he decides to study up on riddles to free them. This is how he meets Bruce for the first time. Dukeā€™s parents have recently been jokerified and Bruce feels bad because he should have defeated Joker ages ago. Bruce decides to foster Duke until he grows close to the boy and adopts him. Bruce lets him be Nighthawk which angers Dami and Dami tries to kill him. Joker kidnaps his parents and Duke dies. He comes back to life to find out heā€™s been replaced and Joker is still around so he becomes Blue Veil. (I need more suggestions to flesh this out more.)
Cass had recently met Dami when the JL attacked the League base. She had become very protective of the boy and she snuck on Dianaā€™s invisible jet to make sure he was taken care of. Once she realized he was safe, she tried to leave but she had nowhere to go and ended up roaming Gothamā€™s streets until she was put into the foster system. She ends up running into Nighthawk and sees him perform a move only Damian knew how to do (using katannas of course) and she figures out their secret identities. Damian leaves and Duke dies so Bruce becomes more violent. Cass hates this so she steals the Nighthawk costume and just shows up to a fight that Batmanā€™s losing. Bruce is appalled by this and tries to get rid of her but she just keeps on showing up. Eventually Cass is made Nighthawk and later adopted. Duke shows up and is upset that he was replaced but heā€™s not angry at Cass so he really just breaks in (I donā€™t know where heā€™s breaking into because I have yet to do my superhero team research. I am begging for an assist). They end up having a heart to heart. Bruce dies (gets lost in the time stream???) and Cass tries to convince Damian to search for him but Damian quits being a hero altogether during this time. Cass single handedly brings Bruce back and stays nighthawk until Spoiler starts showing up. Cass feels betrayed by her family since they didnā€™t believe her about Bruce but sheā€™s also concerned they just didnā€™t understand her. She decides to seek help to be fluent in more than body language. (It might be unrealistic that she never picked up English since she was only five years old at the time she left the League but Iā€™m struggling. Either cut me some slack or offer me a solution at this point. Also this reason for her abandoning nighthawk doesnā€™t seem to fit well so please help.) ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ
Anyway, she ends up returning as Nightingale (for now because I do want to expand on this. She will end up becoming her own separate hero.)
Tim has been stalking the vigilantes for a while. He figured out their secret identities because he followed them back to the cave and hacked his way into not being picked up by scanners and not setting off the boundary alarm (RIP quadruple flip or whatever it was). A couple years later he finds out his parents run one of the largest child trafficking rings in the world. He tells Batman and Janet and Jake lose all of their work and are supposed to go to jail (they're not insane so not to Arkham) but they pay their way out of it. They trace a call Tim made to the Oracle hotline and he gets beaten near death because of it. Tim realizes Batman will never truly defeat his parents as they were already rebuilding their empire. Tim becomes Spoiler (I am in desperate need of a better name) to spoil his parentsā€™ nefarious plans. Batman only sees Tim as the spoiled kid from next door. A rich kid with a cushy life thatā€™s trying to play at being a hero. Batman tries to tell Tim heā€™s not allowed to fight. Tim says heā€™s going to fight anyway so Batman decides to make him Nighthawk and train him while Cass is gone. Timā€™s father finds out that Tim is Nighthawk so he kills him. Or did he? Tim is not dead but was recovering far away from his father. When he comes back to Gotham he tries to kill his parents. Steph understands his anger and offers to train him to be batlad. Eventually Tim does kill his parents and he abandons batlad for his own anti-hero persona (stray tim mayhaps and possible catwoman adoption).
Steph (I know that canonically she is the C-list villain Cluemasters child but thatā€™s not going to work here partially because itā€™s not angsty enough) is the Joker and Harleyā€™s child but Harley put her up for adoption. Somehow (please give me ideas for how) the Joker finds out that Steph is his kid so he, in a stroke of genius rather unlike him (possibly someone else's idea???), he hires some thugs to kidnap her and make it look like a random kidnapping gone wrong (as in fake her death). He sends her off to learn how to fight as well as Batman but also to keep Harley from knowing about her. She grew up with villains but the Joker only visited occasionally. Joker thought Batman was too concerned with the Penguin and thought that Bruce ought to be paying him more attention so he decided to test out Steph by sending her to kill Penguin. Steph succeeds but she is so disgusted by what she did that she runs away and Joker isnā€™t able to find her (again I could really use reasons why). Joker decides to draw her out by threatening to kill Commissioner Gordon. Joker decides to kill two birds with one stone by having Batman bring Steph to him. Steph saves Gordonā€™s life so Oracle and Batman decide to make her Batgirl.(I need ideas for a big reveal where Steph realizes Bruce is Batman.) After Batman dies Steph slowly distances herself from being Batgirl and focuses more on trying to meet her bio mom and getting back with the Browns (her adoptive family). Steph decided to pass the title on to Tim (as batboy or batlad) so heā€™d be taken more seriously by the bats. She finds out her adoptive father, Arthur Brown, is Cluemaster so she runs away and decides to become Black Bat. She uses this name until Joker is killed (by Duke or a joint effort. She finally settles on the name Orphan.
Jason discovers heā€™s a meta at age 10. He decides to hide this information because his dad is desperate to save Catherine from cancer but he canā€™t afford chemo. (I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me more about Jasonā€™s parents.) Jasonā€™s worried his dad would use him to aid his goon life. Catherine dies and Willis becomes a raging drunk to cope with the loss. Willis neglects his work for two-face so heā€™s killed. Cue tiny tire thief Jason. Batman finds out Jason is an orphan and he means to adopt him but he dies before that can happen. Jason joins We Are Nighthawk to help the city and escape Sheila. Sheila wants the Joker to leave her alone so she tells him about her meta son (I donā€™t know how she knows). The Joker wants to make Jason his Joker Junior. We Are Nighthawk offers both family and protection for Jason. When Bruce comes back he doesnā€™t want to be Batman anymore but a talk with Jason convinced him otherwise. Bruce then adopts Jason who decides he doesnā€™t want to be Nighthawk. He becomes Daybreak (unless someone gives me a different idea for his meta powers).
Dickā€™s parentsā€™ die and he decides to go after Tony Zucco. Bruce was not there the night of their death. Instead he runs into Dick while heā€™s on the hunt for Zucco. Bruce decides to adopt Dick and help him move on from his revenge. (I canā€™t decide if I want Dick to kill Zucco anyway or not.) Dick ends up becoming Nighthawk.
Also if you can't tell I am desperate for help so please answer my many questions in the comments. (Yes I did make one tiny edit. Try to find it. :D)

I donā€™t think itā€™s very fair for you to try and knock others from reading Miguelā€™s OG run because truthfully thatā€™s the only place youā€™re going to get his full character since every run after that is just ā€œLetā€™s place him in different time scenarios to fix other peopleā€™s problemsā€. Iā€™ve read ur reasonings and some of the issues I just donā€™t see and thatā€™s coming from someone whoā€™s ALSO half Hispanic and had similar family experiences. Idk I guess comic Miguel is rlly important and relatable to me and you shouldnā€™t turn others away from having that potential connection too. :/
NAH LOL it is *not* the only place to get his character truthfully -- his character is not consistent between runs, or between comic and movie! Not even Pdavid's runs have an unified version of Miguel since he just becomes an author self-insert after one point. The way Pdavid writes '92 Miguel - Gabriel is also shamelessly almost the same as he wrote Bruce Banner - Rick Jones. (another series where he ended up being pushed off the book after he started making really weird decisions; and notice these last two are white guys, which is how pdavid depicts Miguel all the time.)
I haven't even told people to not read them. In multiple posts i say 'read the first ones to see how it is, stop when you get annoyed, look up summaries, don't feel obligated to treat it as canon because it isn't.' If anyone feels threatened by this they should examine where that defensiveness is coming from.
I'm gonna be real with you that's like saying "the only way to REALLY understand Miles Morales is to read his ultimates run." You know, the one where his mother gets eaten alive by Venom, his dad thinks he's at fault for killing her and nearly beats him with a cane, where the closest thing he has to peter is a clone named jessica drew, and that eventually gets completely retconned in a universe explosion so main universe Miles can be rewritten. Do you remember seeing any of the things above in ITSV? Would you call them *the only real way to fundamentally understand Miles as a character?*
I keep seeing the rhetoric that 'real fans' have to subscribe to the very first script of these characters and that somehow enjoying their ATSV versions is fake-stanning and that is just... not true. That's not how comics work. Our most iconic, definitive, memorable traits for MANY of these superheroes have come from subsequent comic runs, rewrites, feats of adaptation and the interaction between fanwork-becoming-canon. Even uncle Ben's 'power and responsibility' schtick is NOT an original part of Peter's first draft. That came from re-imaginings and rewrites.
I'm really, truly not a fan of the argument that 'relating to parts of a character' completely absolves the text from criticism. It's not a good comic. It barely tries to be latino rep and frankly, I'm not going to praise it for just placing a label on him and doing nothing with it. I don't care for this white man's truth. It's racist and creepy and I should be paid reparations for having to read a storyline where the same girl gets paired up with two different brothers and then their father just to end up getting killed for a sexier token love interest. I am constantly frustrated by the argument that new fans should be forced to read it and potentially get turned away from comics forever; it's one of the worst offerings you could give them. 90's Marvel and DC are a public fandom joke and nearly led the market into bankruptcy!!!!! (Marvel filled for loss in 1996. IT WAS BAD. That's part of why the whole 2099 line went up in flames! The money was going down the drain.)
I've been a comic reader for a long time and I just can't give them blissful innocence passes like that. The current editor-in-chief at Marvel did yellowface and pretended to be a japanese man for years to write some shitty superhero weeb comics with no accountability whatsoever. He still has a job. RUNNING the company!
And here's the thing: I like Miguel too. I have a shitty family and I empathize with that but I KNOW he deserves much better than to be confined by white people's scripts and fetishes. I *want* him to have a chance, multiple chances even, to be completely rewritten and remolded by latine voices without the need for them to constantly refer or tie back into that white man's work; It is our right just as any other.
ATSV throws away most of Miguel's baggage, and straight up refuses to refer to the weird indepth sludge pdavid had going on; the artbook doesn't mention these first comics or most of his runs, they actually talk about other groundbreaking sci-fi concept work and the idea of basically rebuilding the landscape from scratch, and I am deeply thankful they do that. One of the biggest themes of the movie *is* that the idea of comic canon is fraught and full of holes, and that we should subvert it into joyful and honest expressions of these characters' cultures. These are movies that begin with the Comics Code Authority stamp, a censorship marker that among other things explicitly prohibited the positive depiction of pro-civil rights narratives and homosexual relationships, and actively turned their nose at protagonist black characters ā€” & proceed to rip it to shreds. That's what we should be doing!

Agreed, I had a lot of issues with GW. One being the characters (esp Jason) two being the dialogue, three being the premise of the War, four being the vague annoyance I have at another DC event, 5 being everything else that I can't remember and don't care to look back on.Ā
I'm not sure if Bruce apologized initially, maybe that's why people were mad? Or maybe they were mad at him abandoning ship and letting Nightwing deal with what remained of the family (again, my memory may not be correct, I can't find the issue it's driving me crazy). Regardless, point is there were consequences, he realized he was wrong and made amends.Ā
Also, I don't know about you or anybody, but personally I think that in the event of a mental break after significant trauma, while there should be consequences, there is also the insanity defense for a reason. They can only be held culpable up to a point. Not excusing or defending his actions, just, my sibling has schizophrenia and while their actions during their episodes sometimes piss me off because they do shitty things, I'm also not too hard on them and try to be forgiving because I know it's awful and I know they're trying. Everyone says he purposely made Zur so therefore everything he does is squarely on Bruce, which is true, but also he purposely made Zur because he was traumatized after Hurt/Milo (RIP/I Am a Gun respectively) hijacked his brain. He didn't do it out of malice, it was out of fear.
The Good Dad/Bad Dad shit drives me batty, pun intended. I feel like, after the initial Good Bat Dad storm subsided and people realized that Batman is not always a good father, they blew off to the opposite end of the spectrum and now believe that Bruce is a Bad Bat Dad all the time (because that's how relationships work, especially parenthood, and you are permanently stuck in one side of that dichotomy forever) and that means that he is irredeemable and any and all punishments should be bestowed upon him because he deserves it.Ā
God I'm so embarrassed for defending rich boy.Ā  What has my life come to. He's not even my fav
Agreed with you on all of these points. The idea that Bruce should be culpable for Zur because he "made Zur" is - kind of funny to me? Personal responsibility when you have DID is a very complicated thing. It isn't that one alter or part is responsible for another, regardless of whether they're the "original" or not. It's that all must learn to be collectively accountable as a group.
Bruce is culpable for Zur's actions because they share a body and life, and actually I think it's interesting that Zur himself also considers himself responsible for Bruce's and Batman's actions (or inactions) and that's one of his motivations in what he does. Their internal back and forth over who or what's to blame and who's more responsible and trying to "fix" each other's mistakes is really interesting.
Anyway. I think you hit the forgiveness issue on the head with "I know they're trying". Imo it's really clear that's why the others are willing to forgive him at all, it's obvious to them that he IS trying. And yeah it's really frustrating when he's just reduced to "Good Dad" or "Bad Dad" like. It's just not that simple.

Literally... none of that is true lmao. Dick had beef with Bruce and mostly tried to keep Jason out of it, and let Jason know he was there for him if he needed it. They went skiing together. Dick had a complete breakdown after Jason's death.
Where do I even start on the next bit. ALFRED originally gave the Robin mantle to Damian. "Worst year of Tim's life" It was the worst year of DICK'S life. His father of like 15 years died, his city got blown up, his best friend died, etc etc. And he STILL pulled it together and took on the burden of becoming Batman, sacrificed his independence, moved to Gotham to raise Bruce's deeply traumatized son.
Also he NEVER tried to put Tim in Arkham. And god forbid he not listen to Tim who had NO EVIDENCE Bruce was alive, instead of taking care of all back-breaking responsibilities on his shoulders while still grieving
Anyway. Please don't use fanon Tim stan nonsense to slander Dick thank you <3
ask 1 ^
ask 2:
i know it doesnt actually matter but that second-to-last ask abt dick grayson is literally just straight up lies. this person has not read any of the comics they are referencing. they are just quoting incorrect fanon as if its facts. dick had a complicated relationship with jason, yes, but wasn't particularly unkind to him, just distant, and is shown to have regretted that and grieved him hard; i'm not even gonna begin to get into the damian bashing but literally at no point did dick ever try to get tim committed to arkham. he suggested tim get therapy, because their adoptive father was dead (as far as they knew) and tim was convinced he wasn't but had no evidence. this is not an unreasonable thing to suggest to your grieving brother who appears stuck in denial! and he didn't "replace tim with damian and not even tell him". damian literally interrupted the conversation where he was trying to tell tim about it (where his rationale was that damian, a child literally raised in a cult of assassins, needed to be given a role to fill in bc he needed structure while being deprogrammed from being a child soldier, and dick wanted to see tim as his equal, not a subordinate.) tim himself completely reconciled with dick by the end of this comic. that anon was just making up a guy to be mad at, not actually talking about dick grayson šŸ’€
ask 3:
Hi Iā€™m the dick grayson shouldnā€™t win anon, the people thirst voting one etc etc but saw some propaganda thatā€™s based on bald faces lies and I gotta correct it bc itā€™s my pet peeve. DICK DID NOT THREATEN TIM WITH ARKHAM. HE SUGGESTED A THERAPIST IN METROPOLIS like okay he fucked up there but he made the best decision he could during the red robin run (which is a dumpster fire) and like itā€™s been a minute since I read battle for the cowl era but didnā€™t Alfred give Damian the robin suit. And Jason was literally in dickā€™s family colours which got taken away from dick by Bruce which he had no right to do so I mean he justifiably didnā€™t like him. And yeah okay dick did put Jason in Arkham but need I remind you that Jason went on a killing spree as Batman and almost killed tim. And letā€™s be real him and him are brothers. He didnā€™t ditch him. That relationship was never fixed in comics bc they reset the universe but at the end of red Robin they were okay. And like you have over 10 years of comics but the important thing is that Arkham was NEVER what dick suggested to Tim holy shit but uh also donā€™t vote for dick in the next round (vote for him against supernatural guy tho) I just donā€™t appreciate the slander but Iā€™ll be putting out my anti dick grayson propaganda next thanks
Adding to my other ask, Tim literally sounded like he was losing it. Like I wouldnā€™t believe him either. In the nightwing comics not too long ago he tried to bring his dad, Steph, and Conner back to life with the Lazarus pit. Tim willingly cut himself and started to use self destructive behaviours (LoA) and like his entire internal monologue supports that and bc grim dark era justifiably fucked him up okay Iā€™m done
ok thank you! glad you're clearing this up

hiii (ā‰§ā–½ā‰¦)/, sorry for bothering you i just aaa, im normally a silent reader type (bc talking to ppl makes me anxious) but smth bout that last chapter got me like akjsdhfakjsflh (im def gonna like regret this later when im overthinking b4 bed lmao)
Ī£(Ā°ćƒĀ°)I was NOT expecting that to happen at all like the plot twist ajsdfhasljkfa, i was so ready to cry my heart out for that angst T^T </3 (i'm srry but i love angst sm, like. it just hits different ya know?) and omg bentley's call for help,,, when jason's life was in the hands of the joker ajsdfhkjasdhfka
ą¶ž amongus askjdfhasjf im so srry, the game's ruined the word imposter for me lol u got me imagining scenarios n shii bro (ā„ ā„>ā„ ā–½ ā„<ā„ ā„) bro, jason being the first one to find bentley and trying to save bentley bc no one saved him</3 and he's trying and trying to put pressure on bentley's wounds but blood is still like pouring out, bentley slowly losing conciousness. jason telling bentley to focus on him bc he's not going to die today and he's trying to keep bentley awake (ā•„ļ¹ā•„) telling bentley that help is coming soon, that he's going to be okay, and maybe having a conversation to try and keep bentley awake
brooo i could see like that one meme when batman finds them bentley: was i a good son? bruce: no. bruce: you were the best :,)
and like bentley dying in his arms w a smile on his face because's he's finally found his found family and has people that love him for once in his life bruce losing another son and him feeling like a failure of a father for not protecting bentley :< but i could also see him having like a dilemma w like bentley breaking his one rule: no killing even though that's what saved everyone in the end and like the loss of another son and he doesn't know what to feel (b isn't v good w dealing w his emotions)
aaa and after bentley's death, dick hides his emotions behind a mask, trying to cheer up everyone one (ć£ įµ”ā—”įµ”)ć£ and like making the atmosphere less sadge :( bc he feels like that's what bentley would have wanted(?) bc he's always looking out for the fam and trying to make things better? srry i suck at explaing aaa
then damien, oh damien, just right after they fixed things between them :( i feel like his griefing process = anger. he's just a little bottle of anger that's filled to the very top and any little thing sets him off. he's angry at himself, he's angry at black and white hair mans, he's angry at like,,, everything ćƒ½( `Š“Ā“*)惎
:( timmy going through like shock, denial(?maybe), anger, depression and goes into a state where he's neglecting his health because he's so focused on avenging bentley's death by trying to find everyone responsible and putting them behind bars
srry for bothering u. gosh, i just. i love ur writing sm, the way u write,,, like it's so, i can practically see the scenes happening in my mind. i reread both books twice while waiting for chap 43 to drop lol
(ļ¾‰>Ļ‰<)ļ¾‰ :ļ½”ļ½„::ļ½„ļ¾Ÿā€™ā˜…,ļ½”ļ½„::ļ½„ļ¾Ÿā€™ā˜†I hope u have a great day/night! and that both sides of ur pillow r cold, ur charger to work at every single angle, and never ever stub your toe again<3 ( Ā“ āˆ€ `)惎ļ½ž ā™” [hope this didn't sound/look too cringe. i luv emoticons lol >:3]
omg this made me so happyšŸ„¹šŸ„¹šŸ„¹šŸ„¹ I canā€™t even. I love how you talked about the family after Bentleyā€™s deathšŸ’”
thank you so much for your love and support it means the absolute world, also donā€™t be afraid to talk to me haha! Iā€™m about as scary as a marshmallow lmao

Fics In Which Tony Is The Team Dad/Mom Masterlist
A Place to Call Our OwnĀ (ao3) -Ā MusicalLuna pepper/tony T, 2k
Summary: After their face off with Ultron destroys the tower (again), the Avengers have to find somewhere else to live, and maybe even call their home.
Apple and Cinnamon (ao3) - DancingForRain steve/tony G, 2k
Summary: As a kid, Tony discovers the therapy of baking. As an Avenger, he shares this method with his team.
But Who Takes Care of You?Ā (ao3) -Ā anxious_soul G, 4k
Summary: In which Tony is the team's mum and he takes the role very seriously, but sadly no one appreciates or notices it until he goes away on a 3-week business trip.
AKA the team falls apart without Tony and then he returns and fixes things at his own expense.
Cracked Hearts Under Iron Ribs (ao3) - XtaticPearl steve/tony M, 14k
Summary: Rhodey is away for almost six months now and comes to meet Tony after the mission. He doesn't understand the domesticity of the whole Tower and unknowingly sets off a whole truck of insecurities which make Tony crawl back into being a Stark instead of just Tony. The team is not at all happy and Rhodey joins them in trying to figure out a way to help their resident genius feel better in his skin.
Don't Call Me Mom (Unless You're My Family)Ā (ao3) - XtaticPearl steve/tony M/T+, 29k
Summary: Tony Stark is sarcastic, occasionally obnoxious and eternally wearing a mask over his insecurities. His complicated and cold childhood combined with his inherent genius mind make him less likely to play well with others. None of these though stop him from holding his team together, whatever way he can. The team in return gives him the one thing money can't buy : a family. These are the stories and memories of how the Avengers became a family with Tony unconsciously taking on the role of being the mom of the group.
If I Could Hold Your HandĀ (ao3) - Im_Angry_and_Smol pepper/tony G, 26k
Summary: ā€œClint, get out of the dumpster and go take a shower.ā€ He ordered.
ā€œBut my hearing aids Tony.ā€
ā€œWill be fine, Iā€™ll take care of it. Go take a shower, don't use the vents until you do.ā€
ā€œYou canā€™t do that,ā€ Clint grumbled, seeming to not agree with him, though Tony noticed with satisfaction that he could hear rustling that probably meant he was getting out of the dumpster, ā€œThatā€™s like grounding me, youā€™re not my mom.ā€
ā€œMy tower, my rules.ā€ Tony insisted, ā€œIā€™ll get JARVIS to lock them.ā€
ā€œWhatever, mom.ā€ Clint scoffed.
ā€œTake a shower, tweety bird.ā€ Tony quipped before hanging up.
or
A bunch of interconnected oneshots detailing how the team becomes more like family and Tony distinguishes himself as the Team Mom.
Signs of Life (ao3) - aven_garde steve/tony, bruce/natasha, bucky/clint M, 40k
Summary: Tony Stark gets thrown into a new world when a one- night stand ends with him having a son. When it's discovered that Peter is deaf due to his mother's mistakes while pregnant, Tony vows to become the father he never had. Fortunately, he's got the Avengers to step up as a teamā€” and a family.
Some Things Shouldn't Be a ChoreĀ (ao3) -Ā scifigrl47 steve/tony, clint/phil T, 22k
Summary: Steve takes things like personal responsibility and respect seriously. Tony's got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he's pretty sure that he's going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy's still a little spotty about what is 'clean' enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick.
And some things shouldn't be a chore.
Tender Instincts & Panicked Measures (ao3) - Thementalistlover2013 steve/tony N/R, 9k
Summary: Tony Stark: Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist, Team Mom?
It wasn't like Tony had set out to mother the Avengers.
No, it wasn't like that at all, but it had surely ended in that fashion. Someway, somehow, his life had turned from depressive workaholic, alcoholic, everything-that-was-especially-harmful-holic to packing paper brown bag lunches and personally sending out clothes to the cleaners.
Personally - he hadn't even sent his own laundry out pre-Avengers.
He had just become the proud owner of five superheroes; they hadn't even come with care kits or manuals or blueprints.
Tony couldn't breathe.
There's A History Between Us (and people think it's mine) (ao3) - IamShadow21 steve/tony T, 4k
Summary:Ā A moment is all it takes to open up the box and confirm his suspicion.
ā€œI think you're right, Cap,ā€ Tony says. ā€œThis isn't my area.ā€
They Call Me Dad (ao3) - fandomfrolics steve/tony T, 4k
Summary: The team's taken to calling Tony by a very strange nickname and he's a little afraid to find out why.
Three Men And The Babies (ao3) - XtaticPearl steve/tony T, 1k
Summary: ā€œIf you fly away with my baby one more time, Thor, I will steal your hairbrushes,ā€ Tony warned as he scooped up Bruce with a scowl directed at the way too amused Asgardian. ā€œYour baby?ā€ Steve asked dryly as he bounced Clint in his arms with an unbeatable rhythm.
Tony Stark Advises The Avengers (ao3) - copperbadge T, 1k
Summary: Somehow, Tony Stark ended up Team Dad.
You Know How to Give (ao3) - brandnewfashion steve/tony G, 6k
Summary: Steve was one of very few people who knew that the real Tony Stark was thoughtful and selfless, and genuinely cared about others.
The problem? The man was absolute shit at showing it.

Basically is a yandere mess. To put it simple, Bruce and Diana have a daughter together, however, Diana and Bruce barely spend any time with her, but where the parents lak, Alfred and Hyppolita step in and soon they become her parents and that's where the whole mess begins because now Hipollyta and Alfred are fighting for the title of favorite grandparent, all the while Diana and Bruce, noticeing their failure, try to fix things and miserable failing, since op no longer is a little child.
Broken Truth: A Daughter between Bruce and Diana - I always thought the two of them would end up together but he ended up with Catwoman - still a good ship in my opinion. Alfred and Hippolyta becoming the grandparents/adoptive parents sound like an interesting concept. Let the worlds weave together!!
The Butler of Wayne Manor was disappointed at his Master for ignoring his youngest child and only daughter but it was his place to pick up where Bruce left off. Alfred took care of [Name] - picking her up and dropping her off at school, making her delicious cookies and talking with her about her problems, reading her bedtime stories, and telling her about her late grandparents; [Name] once made the comment of calling Alfred 'Grandfather' and he told her about her real grandfather, but [Name] still called the butler Grandfather and spent her time with him long after entering high school. When [Name] grew into a young woman, Bruce realized just how much he missed out on his daughter's life and tried to make her accept him as her father but her response was always: "Not interested, Bruce. I'm hanging out with Grandpa this afternoon."; he knew by now that Alfred had replaced his place in his daughter's heart but that wasn't going to stop him from trying to get his daughter back.
On the Weekends, [Name] was sent to Themyscira to spend time with her mother - or rather - her grandmother because that's the only person she enjoyed talking to on the island. Hippolyta would shower her granddaughter with gems and love, training, and fine silks of Themyscira but that never interested [Name]; all she wanted was her grandmother's love and happiness. Diana would watch her daughter walk past her every time she came to the island and walk over to Hippolyta before the queen glared at Diana and walked away with [Name] to do something; Artemis would tell Diana that she was in the wrong for ignoring her daughter for as long as she did and now she lost her child to her own mother. Diana didn't like the sound of that and tried to get in [Name's] Good Graces, but failed due to her daughter's mature age and cold heart towards her.

Headcanons : Trauma
Warning
Sensitive content for some people
Childhood trauma, trauma responses.
Damian when he came under Bruce guard I still had a lot of consequences from past traumas in the league, some of these traumas led to certain behaviors that I think would be:
Always having an answer on the tip of his tongue, because he always needed to explain himself.
Violent attack reaction to anyone who brought their hands close to vital areas of his body
Insecurities coming from insults to his culture and ethnicity, which he ended up hearing on missions
His insecurity got worse when he saw the looks of his brothers and father, or even when people at parties pointed out the differences in their appearance.
He doesn't cry often, since he always was always scolded when he did.
He also hides his emotions and desires out of fear of hurting others or simply giving his opinion.
His body, used to protecting itself, responds violently when it feels threatened or hurt.
Also because of being forced to train from a very young age, Damian's body releases adrenaline until the end, but when that passes the body collapses, Damian passes out with some frequency.
Damian's body is small for his age from poor diet when he was in the care of only Ra's or others in the league, as Talia needed to go out on missions even though she avoided it.
His voice is very low since is rarely used
dark rooms remind him of the room he had in the league, it gives him nightmares, So he has a lot of lights in his room, some have the shape of Christmas lights
has absolute terror of becoming like Ra's someday, and once lost his mind when someone compared him to Ra's, he had a panic attack.
He had to mature quickly, but even then there was something left of his childish way, sometimes this is awakened with anesthesia or when he is around animals.
Damian is constantly on guard around him, afraid of something that might happen.
He doubts himself sometimes, as some memories were forgotten by himself due to certain traumas.
He is terrified in some really small moments like when he hears a child crying, everyone thought it was hilarious, but over time they started to worry and they were left feeling guilty afterwards.
He knows very well how to hide injuries, as he would hide some from Talia when she returned from missions.
Phrases he may have said at some point:
Alert : Phrases that can seriously hurt below
After hearing children cry and others
"I told myself I wouldn't cry about it anymore..but does every little thing remind me of that?!"
"Everything is wrong with me, Everyone deserves someone better than..this"
"I had no choice! I had no choice right? I don't like to kill? answer me Dick"
"I'm just a big mistake...I know"
"I don't know how to fix this! I don't even know how to fix myself!"
"grandfather should be dead, he is dead! But...I can't stop seeing and everywhere, everytime I look in the mirror"
"please please please...just be a bad dream..please"
"I was..I spent all my childhood praying for someone anyone to take me away, no one ever came for me"
"I don't want do this anymore Father"
"can't I just rest a little? Just for some years...and mom can bring me back someday"
" I'm a strong person! I can beat that.. right?"
"Do you really hate me, Drake?"
"Was I not enough?"
" I didn't think that... Seriously RICHARD I DIDN'T THINK YOU WOULD HIT ME was a reflex Dick! No no don't look at me that way"
"Are you crying?"
"I'm sorry...I really sorry"

Hi! Itā€™s been years since I discovered your Reverse!Batfam fics and even now Iā€™m still rereading them because they have to be the best written fics on both ff.net and AO3. So, thank you very much for your service.
I was wondering, if possible, would you perhaps be able to write a fic/shot of Dick and Bruce, and a close call (either on YJ mission or usual patrol) which has everyone (as in the Batsiblings) freaked out and ends up somewhat smothering Dick with their mother-henning? (I need my angst fix heheā€¦) Dick eventually crawling into Bruceā€™s bed and/or Bruce admitting heā€™s scared of losing Dick would also be very nice touches :)
No pressure at all if you donā€™t feel like it, just a plot bunny that has mildly taken over my brain.
I literally went "Awww!" out loud when I read this so thank you! This is actually perfect too because I just finished my semester, so I have some time to write now.
I hope this is what you were looking for!

It was never easy when one of them got hurt on patrol.
It was always a reminder that in this world of crime and super-powered beings and aliens, they were just human. They weren't invincible, no matter how good they were at their job. Even men like Batman and Shadowbat, despite their decades of training, were still fallible.
Watching Dick as he lay unconscious in the medbay, practically a mummy with the way he was wrapped up in bandages, was probably the hardest of all. Seeing their youngest lie so still was unnatural. The boy was always movingā€”always full of life.
Even Damian, who frequently complained about Dick's endless energy and enthusiasm, could not find peace in the silence. He sat by Dick's bedside, keeping watch over the boy as he slept. The others would join him sometimes, but it was Damian that was always by the boy's side. The only time he left when Alfred forced him to shower and rest.
Though Richard was legally Father's, Damian felt responsible for the boy. Perhaps it was because Richard always managed to get through whatever walls Damian put up, or maybe it was because Damian was the one Richard went to when Father was unavailable. Perhaps it was because the boy was the youngest in the family, so everyone, including Damian, felt extra protective of him. Whatever the reason, Damian was furious with himself for allowing Richard to be hurt, and as soon as Richard was better, he would add in extra training for both of them.
"Dami...?" Dick slurred, bringing Damian out of his thoughts. Damian immediately dropped the sketch he had absently been working on and leaned forward.
"Richard?"
The boy's eyes cracked open before slamming shut again
"Too bright..." the boy whined.
Damian got up to dim the lights some before returning to Dick's side. "Is that better?"
Dick hummed and peered up at Damian with heavy lids. He let out a sigh. "'M tired..."
"Go back to sleep, Richard. I'll be here."
Dick hummed again with a smile and was out immediately.
Damian settled back into his chair and pulled out his phone to update the others on Richard's condition.
He would let the boy sleep some more, and he would be by his side when Richard woke up again, as he always would be.

Dick had been moved to his bedroom as soon as he could stay awake for more than a few minutes. Stephanie and Cass had been quick to kick Damian out so they could spend some time with their youngest brother alone. Currently, Dick was curled up between the two of them as they watched cartoons on Stephanie's laptop. Dick had his head leaned against Cass, who was gently running her fingers through his hair. Dick yawned and snuggled closer to his sister.
"You getting tired?" Stephanie asked.
"No..." Dick protested, but he was cut off by another yawn.
Stephanie smirked and closed her laptop. She and Cass moved to get out of the bed but were stopped by small hands gripping their shirt sleeves tightly.
"Please don't go."
Stephanie looked at Cass, partially to avoid the wide-eyed pout sent her way, but Cass just shrugged and snuggled back down, apparently content to nap. Stephanie sighed but wasn't particularly bothered. A nap sounded pretty good to be honest.
She gently tugged Dick's hand from her sleeve. "I'm not going anywhere. Let me just tuck you in first, okay?"
Dick narrowed his eyes. "Promise?"
Stephanie chuckled. "Promise." She tucked the blanket around Dick, nudging Cass out of the way when she needed to, and pressed a kiss to the boy's forehead. Carefully, she settled beside him. "Is that better?"
"Much better," Dick replied, smiling. He shifted from cuddling with Cass to cuddling with Stephanie. Cass didn't seem too bothered and simply laid an arm across his body.
"Good night, Dick."
"Night, Steph. Cass."
Stephanie wasn't expecting to fall asleep so quickly, but it wasn't long after that Tim found them, carrying a book that he was planning on reading to Dick. He grinned at the sight of all of them asleep and pulled out his phone to snap a picture. He closed the door quietly and walked off to find Alfred.
Dick would later wake up with Stephanie's hair in his mouth and an ache in his bruised ribs from Cass's arm lying across them, but he wouldn't mind. It would be the best sleep he had gotten in ages.

Dick was thriving from the attention his family was giving him. He had spent the last few weeks rotating between watching TV with Steph and Cass to drawing with Damian to playing video games with Jason to being read to by Tim. It was absolute heaven for the boy, reminding him of his time at Haly's where he was always surrounded by people.
There was just one thing missing.
Dick had spent so much time with his siblings that it felt like he had barely seen Bruce. After Dick had gotten hurt, Bruce had thrown himself into taking down the rest of Bane's operation. Bane had already been apprehended and sent to Arkham, but Bruce still had to deal with dismantling the labs still producing Venom.
His siblings had told Dick not to take it personally. It was how Bruce dealt with his emotions. Dick understood, but he still missed Bruce. One night weeks later, when he had mostly healed, Dick found himself limping towards Bruce's room. He pushed the door open gently and found Bruce asleep in bed. Dick padded his way over and nudged the man.
"Bruce?" Dick whispered.
"Hn."
Dick nudged him harder and whispered louder, "Bruce."
"Hnn." Bruce groaned and cracked his eyes open. He stared blearily at Dick. "Chum? Did you have a nightmare?"
Dick bit his lip. "No...but can I sleep with you? I miss you."
Bruce sat up and rubbed a hand down his face to wake himself up. "Of course. You know you're always welcome."
Dick beamed and scrambled up into the bed, settling into Bruce's side. He closed his eyes and sighed happily.
Bruce looked down at his youngest with a smile before frowning. "Dick?"
"Hm?"
"What did you mean by you missed me?"
Dick opened his eyes. He glanced at Bruce briefly before focusing his gaze on Bruce's shirt. He picked at a stray thread as he spoke. "It's just...you've been really busy taking down Bane's Venom operation. I feel like I haven't seen you in forever."
Bruce sighed and wrapped an arm around Dick. "I'm...I'm sorry, Dick." Dick's head shot up in surprise, and he stared at Bruce with wide eyes as the man continued. "I should have been around more while you were recovering. But when I saw you lying on the ground like that..." Bruce smiled ruefully. "I think you've realized by now that I don't like it when any of you get hurt. No matter how much I train you or how much experience you have, there's always the thought in the back of my head that I will lose one of you. Something will be out of my control, and it will cost me everything. So I throw myself into cleaning up Gotham to make it safer for you."
Bruce sighed and ran a hand through Dick's hair. "I became Batman because I didn't want anyone else to experience what I did. I continue to be Batman because I have so much more to lose now." He moved his hand down to cup Dick's cheek, rubbing it softly with his thumb. "If anything were to happen, I can't bear the thought that I could have done something to prevent it."
Bruce was cut off as Dick threw himself into Bruce's chest, wrapping his arms tightly around the man. Bruce could feel tears soaking into his shirt.
"I-I'm s-sorry I got hurt!" Dick cried. "I don't wanna make you worried!"
Had this been years ago, Bruce probably would have tried to take Robin away from Dick to ease his worries. He had tried that once with Damian a few years after the boy had come to the Manor. Damian had been badly hurt by the Joker, and the sight of the boy unconscious, looking more innocent and vulnerable in his sleep than Bruce had ever seen him, sent Bruce into a spiral. He had tried to send Damian back to his mother, but the boy had run into Gotham and got tangled up in a human trafficking ring. After watching Damian march out with 30 kids relatively unharmed, his son had made a point that he would never stop being a hero, and there was nothing Bruce could do to stop him. He could either stay at the Manor and let Batman watch his back, reducing the likelihood of getting injured, or he would venture out into Gotham on his own, and they wouldn't speak again.
It hadn't taken long for Bruce to concede.
Years of experience and a conga line of kids had taught Bruce that he would never be able to control his kids, no matter how hard he tried. The best he could do was support them to the best of his ability and know that his children had each other's back.
Bruce sighed and wrapped his arms around his youngest. "I'm always going to worry. I worry every time you all go out because anything could happen. We all make mistakes, Dick, even me. I just have to hope that everything will work out fine."
Bruce adjusted them so that they were lying down again. He carded his hand through Dick's hair as the boy's eyelids grew heavy. "I'm sorry again that I haven't been around, but I'm going to make it up to you. What do you say about going to the arcade tomorrow?"
"Can we get ice cream after?"
Bruce chuckled. "We can do whatever you want."
Dick hummed. "Sounds nice..." His eyes closed.
"Good night, chum."
"Nigh', Bruce..."
Bruce listened as Dick's breathing evened out before closing his own eyes. His children were safe in the Manor, alive and breathing as they slept.
That was all Bruce needed to fall asleep easily.

Okay Nightwing rant time cus like idk itā€™s been on my mind
I really donā€™t understand why fanon so badly wants Dick to be like theļæ¼ ultimate caretaker of the family when like heā€™s expressed serval times he doesnā€™t want to do that. Like there is a reason why Dick lives in BlĆ¼dhaven instead of Gotham, why heā€™s put a lot of effort into building an independent life for himself. Yes heā€™s a supportive older brother and will drop anything to come help if the bats need him, but it doesnā€™t go further than that and I find it weird that so many people want it to.
Like Dick has learned from growing up with Bruce that itā€™s not his job to carry the emotional burdens of others, itā€™s not his job to fix others, Dick honestly has a lot of his own shit going on and honestly doesnā€™t have the mental wherewithal to be that emotionally ļæ¼cateringļæ¼ to others.
I guess the thing that really gets me about this is that Dickā€™s whole thing is that he does not want to be like Bruce or end up like Bruce. He talks about it constantly. He loves Bruce to hell and back, but he does not want to be Batman, and with all these ā€œoh Dick is the mother hen!ā€ type headcanons and fics, in a way you are making him batman. Youā€™re making him the ļæ¼ caretaker and the mentor, which is Batmanā€™s role, a role that Dick doesnā€™t really want. Yes Dick is a mentor in many different ways, but not to the sameļæ¼ responsibility level that Bruce is.
Think what you want about Bruce, I donā€™t care, but heā€™s the one whoā€™s really theļæ¼ nurturing soul here. Heā€™s the one whoā€™s taken on theļæ¼ responsibility of training theses kids so they donā€™t get themselves killed. Heā€™s the one that hugs them when they cry and gives them advice when they needļæ¼ guidance. Heā€™s not a perfect mentor, but he is a mentor and he tries his best to show up for his family. Erasing that to make Dick the one to do all the emotional labor is literally missing the point of what Dick is all about. ļæ¼
Because like you wanna know something crazy, the one time he was a full on mentor figure he had to literally become batman. The one person we was a father figure to was Damian, and it was a situation where he had to literally become batman to do it. And anytime Dick has dawned the cape heā€™s talked about how the weight of it is crushing, and how he made a bunch of misteps. If you want to really know what Dick is like when he has to be the solely responsible one just look at his time as Batman. Heā€™s honestly really bad atļæ¼ juggling the emotional needs of others and made a lot of bad mistakes and hurt the people around him. Painting him as beingļæ¼ flawlessly being able to take care of others is just erasing so muchļæ¼ interesting flavor of the character and why would you want to do that? Dick being aļæ¼ difficult man that shrugsļæ¼ responsibility, and can often be crushed by the weight of it is so much more interesting than ā€œuwu soft boy mother henā€ (while ya know also needlessly throwing Bruce ļæ¼under the bus which is also really annoying)
This post and long and mostly very ranty but what Iā€™m really trying to get at is that Dick is a very caring andļæ¼ nurturing person, heā€™s a great teammate and a great older brother, but there is a line. A line that Dickļæ¼ explicitly drew in the sand when he became Nightwing. And making him always the most emotionally mature and always being the one to take care of everyone around him is really missing the point of Dick and it just a really bothers me okay????
