Goretober in Review!!

i went and actually did an art all 31 days in october, and you know what that means?

31 data points with which to make unnecessary graphs!!!!

first off: shoutout to @crisis-arts for making the prompt list. i kinda did whatever i felt like but the inspirational power of a good prompt list cannot be understated. now look at my graphs.

first off: how much time i spent on these fuckers. over the month i decreased in average time spent on each art, which makes sense lol. the red for days 3, 5, and 18 were because i did the initial sketches in pencil and simply colored over them, but day 31 was because it took an hour and a half to do all that zombie makeup and that counts. the green days are from when i spent a significant amount of time working on ideas i eventually ended up scrapping. you can find them here!!

notable stats:

longest time : Day 8, x-ray - 5 hr 44 min.

shortest time: Days 12, burning, and 13, headache - 20 min.

average time: 1 hr 35 min.

next up: when did i post these motherfuckers. also unsurprisingly, i started posting them later in the day as the month progressed. also, i was only late for one day, and it was by one minute! i'm proud of that, actually.

earliest post: Day 31, trick or treat - 9:17am

latest post: Day 12, burning - 12:00am

average posting time: 1:34pm

also, its interesting to note the connection between the amount of time i spent on each art and the time i posted them. the three latest posting times, days 8, 12, and 26, correspond with the longest, shortest, and a fairly average amount of work time. WHAT DOES IT MEAN...

you may have noticed i didn't do gore for every prompt. this is because i couldn't come up with any gory idea that actually felt good enough to post. so here's what i did instead. have fun figuring out which arts i classified as which, or whatever

oooo artsy graphs!!! theres definitely correlation between these three factors and the amount of time it took to "finish" each art. but i spent too much time on these graphs already im not doing that.

not TECHNICALLY a fic but i have a nukani modern AU going in rp threads, we have a cast-wide polycule with a focus on quincy, kuya, blade, rei, and it's been SO FUN

i wrote for a handful of new fandoms: coffee talk, qsmp, genloss, and ordem paranormal! with genloss i tried a new genre in horror, which i never expected to enjoy TBH. also just juggling multiple fandoms at a time was never My Thing but i love it now i understand i've changed

ummM i'm very proud of finishing not quite anointed but i did write most of it in 2022 so. maybe be not afraid bc it was waaay out of my comfort zone (hero/villain AU) and i did a lot of worldbuilding for it (that i wanna write more about later)

our first coffee talk fanweek, i didn't end up making anything for it but i did organize it

running the nu: carnival flash fic challenges has been fun even tho it's on a bit of a break rn

various exchanges/gift boxes on dreamwidth, those are lovely

multifandom match was crazy, i had so much fun and i'm so excited to do it again next time

i also reopened sweet & spicy bingo which has been a good time

there's probably more but those are the HIGHLIGHTS that come to mind

your most written fandom, character, and/or ship fandom: nu: carnival (50) character: quincy (28) ship: technically variants of the ot4 kuya + quincy + blade + rei bc that's like 20+ fics, but kuya/quincy is the one i tagged most at 9

the fic you had the most fun writing this year it's my small bang fic i can't talk about yet 😭 but ALSO holding out for a hero, my nukani x dangerverse crack ship crossover fic

a time you tried something new (character ship, fandom, style, trope, etc) the aforementioned crack ships fic, but also new fandoms in deadpool, stardew valley, hazbin, dangerverse, alexa & katie, i was a teenage exocolonist, and others. new fandoms are the result of ANOTHER new thing which is all the flash exchanges i did

the fic you're most proud of this year ad libitum (nukani, superpowers AU) was a very New Thing for me and also uncharacteristically long for my fic, i remember writing like 2k of it in a day and just generally being feral about it

any challenges/events/etc you participated in this year (or your favorites if you don't want to list them all) my first battleship was SO fun, i also enjoyed doing all the nu flash fic stuff throughout the year. and i love running @sweetspicybingo as always, particularly hurt/comfort bingo was really fun. and of course the "let me introduce you to my fandom" exchange which led me into iwatex hell

the last fic you wrote/posted this year I'M WORKING ON IT..... but it's an indirect sequel to the previous thing i posted, your hand in mine (the realm, clown & ros)

your writing goals(s) for next year i'm doing the same pledge for get your words out (120 days) bc it worked well enough for me this year. my main project is the small fandom bang which posts in april(?) but otherwise i'm just excited to go where the realm muse takes me
