you had a knack of being a natural chiropractor in loosening up tense muscles instantly (for more fluid play) or easily putting in back dislocated joints

basically you have crackhands

in your free time as a hobby and a job as the “head manager” (that Akashi announced to the team himself), you’d often bury yourself in anatomy studies and gym plans on the internet and databases to review over Akashi’s team training routines to see if they were effective and safe; oftentimes, you’d return back with improved plans, and as time went on, Akashi entrusted you with creating the plans yourself completely

you took on the job so eagerly to impress the Teiko captain, if you were being honest to yourself

your enthusiasm even inspires Momoi, Teiko’s other manager, to work harder

no one in Teiko knows physiology better than you, and as expected, it was also your best subject along with health

Kise often looks at you in horror and respect at how you don’t cringe/flinch at the loud cracks resonating across the room or court when players come to you for instant relief (the origin story of how he came to call you (y/n)-cchi was the very fact that you manage to put back his dislocated shoulder in 3 seconds flat one game)

when Kuroko first joined the 1st-string, he was a walking magnet for injuries, and you ended up being there for him every single time… nosebleeds? check. sprained ankle? check. nausea from over exhaustion? check.

both you and Kuroko relish in the fact that everyone in the team can never understand how the both of you do some incredible things with your hands

both of you being quite dexterous, you both often teach each other your specialties for fun; it’s almost shocking to see Kuroko effortlessly loosening up a stress knot and you pulling off a well-done palm pass

you admit, you do juggle a lot of responsibilities… from being a makeshift nurse, to a chiropractor, to a budget gym coach, and even to being moral support

Momoi often reminds you to take breaks being the caring person that she is

you often showed her the ropes and tricks of being a manager, on top of your duties, and you find it really endearing that she’s so earnest in learning from you

even if you enjoyed doing what you do, part of the massive workload is to try to get into Akashi’s good graces

talking to him about basketball duties is easier to achieve than talking to him outside of the extracurricular

you might be a tad bit insecure about it; after all, what middle schooler is already so accomplished in academics, sports, and everything you could think of? wasn’t he also studying to take over his father’s company??

to you, who only starred as Teiko’s humble manager, it felt hard trying to establish common ground for conversation outside of basketball

so you stuck to working hard at your position, hoping that your work ethic would get his attention one day; you were a firm believer of actions over words, so you hoped your actions would come off as genuine

picture you and Momoi running across campus with stacks of papers for the team… it makes most of the teammates’ hearts melt at the sight

your work certainly got you praises from other teammates, but out of all players, Kise was the one who figured out your motive

you felt absolutely morbid; to think that Kise, of all people, would figure you out like the back of his hand

Kise being sweet as he is, offers to help you get with the captain but you merely prompted to threaten to break his arm if he spilled your crush to anyone else

“(y/n)-cchi… I’ve been thinking.”

“Yes, Kise?”

“It’s really cool that you’re working so tirelessly for the team, but I can’t help but wonder if there’s a reason why you work so hard.”

“O-Of course I do! I want to see you guys all succeed!”

“Then I’m curious as to why you always look at Akashicchi—o-ow, ow, ow!! (y/n)-cchi, I’m sorry! So can you please let go of my—ow!”

“H-How did you know?!”

“I-It was as obvious as day, (y/n)-cchi! I’m pretty sure even Kurokocchi found out about this before I did!”

“N-No way!!”

“Tell you what, I’m super duper knowledgeable in this stuff! You can count on me for this sort of advice—OW!”

spoiler alert: Kise was right in that Kuroko definitely noticed your attraction to Akashi before anyone else… he just never brought it up to you

one day, Kuroko comes up to you to whisper:

“(y/n)-san, have you realized that Akashi-kun has been observing you recently during practice?”

“W-Wait! Is he looking over here right now?”

“Not that I think. He’s occupied with the coach right now.”

“D-Do you think this is a good sign?”

Kuroko gives you a small smile before he replies, “I would like to think so. Keep working hard, (y/n)-san.”

and you do, you’re constantly on top of your game for the next season until Momoi suddenly gets more recognition for her “precognitive defense” skills

her newfound talent was extraordinary and never-before-seen, and her ability became more critical to Teiko’s victories than your own skills

you were happy and proud for her, because after all, her achievements were extremely deserving to be praised

it’s only when some 1st-string players started making offhand comments about how you weren’t really needed in the 1st-string and was more suited to the lower strings that placed seeds of doubt into you

these people would often compare you to Momoi in how she improved much more despite you being in the team for longer

there’s also talk about how your skills are more useful for 2nd-string and 3rd-string players because Momoi’s ability is already sufficient enough for Teiko’s starters

after all, how would a player even be injured if they can predict their opponents’ moves to avoid such incidents?

there’s also the fact that Akashi has been calling Momoi more frequently to research on upcoming teams for analytical data because her talent has become very useful to ensuring victory

the same peers and adults who gave you praise were the same people who began to ignore you or dismiss you; that being said, the collective change in attitude is definitely subtle enough that it would fly under most people’s radars

Kuroko was the first to notice and defend you against a small group of players who were bold enough to badmouth you in the gym

Kise would find out a little later about the somewhat unpleasant gossip about you and would pull the “no you” reverse card, returning back with MEANER underhanded comments that would send these shit talkers CRYING HOME (manga Kise strikes here unexpectedly eh?)

Murasakibara is someone who would be slightly uncomfortable with the gossip about you, especially since you’ve always been so helpful and kind to the team and himself; he’d either leave the room himself or easily scare them away with his looming height and presence without saying a single word when he enters the room “minding his own business”

Midorima is a bystander judging from how he’s reacted to the Teiko dynamic changes in the actual show // he, of course, wouldn’t like the nasty talk about you but would actually mind his own business, choosing to focus on himself and what he has to do to contribute to his team; he assumes that you would work hard the same way he is and let your contributions do the talking

now Akashi surprisingly wouldn’t hear much of the gossip, since his presence alone SHUTS them up and commit to their practices like normal; after all, it’s very clear that Akashi doesn’t tolerate this type of behavior in the team (example: Haizaki), and it’s more apparent that he wouldn’t hesitate to drop kick them out especially since he has a soft spot for you (which Kise never fails to bring this up to you, but you think he’s reaching too much into it) // TLDR; the teammates mostly have the common sense to not utter anything bad about you… maybe one kid would slip out and get punished for “bad sportsmanship,” but Akashi merely assumes that it’s just one bad apple and not necessarily… the many others as well

Aomine???? bro he ain’t even at practice wdym (HELPPP LMAOO) // jokes aside, if he catches wind of players shit-talking outside of the gym… say at the convenience store or when he’s walking home or something, well… they wouldn’t have a good time…

Momoi simply chastises the gossipers when they try to talk shit on you to make Momoi herself look good, and it leaves? such? a? horrible? taste? like, she wants to believe that they’re just really poor jokes and not what they really believe in, and the teammates merely reassure her that they’re just bad jokes and that they “wouldn’t do it again;” poor Momoi wholeheartedly believes them

the weird talks about Momoi being “the better manager” just signalled to you that you haven’t contributed enough to the team yet, and it motivated you to work even harder

oddly, you weren’t jealous of the fact that Momoi was receiving more positive attention than you

you were more afraid of the fact that you were going to get left behind, and this fear only tightened its hold on you when more teammates (who used to talk to you a lot) have changed their tunes when they speak with you now, compared to them talking to Momoi

and you felt that the Generation of Miracles would do the same too… including Akashi

it wasn’t an irrational fear for you because he’s already been calling Momoi a lot more frequently for help than you recently

so you even offered to mop the gym floors after practice, offered to stay later than usual to be the one to lock up the gym for anyone (cough, Kuroko) who wanted to practice whenever they wanted

at one point, you even tried to do what Momoi does: researching on upcoming teams and making your own predictions (that didn’t really work, and that cost you a few nights’ worth of sleep every single time)

not to mention that you still had regular school like any other student? you were the epitome of a mess

Kuroko was with you in the empty gym, you putting away the extra basketballs in the storage closet while he practiced his dribbling, until he heard a crash in there and a few basketballs rolled out the door

you collapsed right when you rolled in the basketball cart

POOR KUROKO HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO // he just tries to give you a piggyback ride as he abandons his plans of practice and tries to jog to the nearest local clinic

that’s where he bumped into Kise, who was heading home after an evening shoot when he saw the two of you

chaos ensue as Kise freaks out and Kuroko had to calm him down himself after answering the never-ending questions

at least the doctor there gave relieving news that you only collapsed from over-exhaustion and that the bruises from the fall were very faint

Kise makes a joke to Kuroko about, “What’s with you and (y/n)-cchi falling to the floor and fainting? You guys can’t be that alike.”

when you shortly regain consciousness, you were met with a… very stern Kuroko and Kise, who were both ready to hear your explanation and to scold you to oblivion

to your surprise, they were understanding; Kuroko understands the feeling of not being enough and working hard to meet other people’s expectations, and Kise understands the struggle of juggling multiple things in his schedule (come on, student, athlete, and model?)

they still scolded your ears off:

“(y/n)-san, you idiot. Why didn’t you ask anyone to help out?”

“That’s…”

“(y/n)-cchi, do you think we’re undependable?!”

“Er, no, that’s…”

you were still dizzy from the fall and the lack of proper sleep (and maybe nutrition if we’re being honest), and you were just a ball of stress

you kind of begged your best friends not to tell a SOUL to anyone about this incident, especially to Akashi… you didn’t want to look even more incapable in his eyes than you already were

they do agree on one condition: for you to take AT LEAST a day or two off school to completely recover and rest up (you reluctantly agree; besides how were you going to explain the bruises that can’t be covered to your peers?)

HELP WHY ARE KISE AND KUROKO THE BEST LIARS TOGETHER ON CAMPUS LITERALLY NO ONE SUSPECTS A THING… except Akashi, the ever sharp captain, felt something was amiss

especially since some Teiko players emanated a feeling of relief at the news of you not being here that day, or the next

Akashi would play detective sleuth and find out what’s really going on sooner or later

my 11th grade chemistry teacher had an associates degree in liberal arts.

you know how in virtually every class you’ve ever had since middle school, your teachers made a big stink about the syllabus? she didn’t have one. this was her first teaching job, which she got because of her length experience as a substitute, not by her licensing qualifications. we were, at first, excited to have her, because she was a “fun sub” and we were 17 years old and stupid as all shit. we were the “normal chem” class in a system where the only other options were ��honors chem” which was filled with children who actually know how to study (or cheat) and have an air of proper student activity, and “AP Chem”, which is clear enough if you’ve been an american student in the last 15 years.

she followed the mcgraw hill chemistry book in order of chapters, despite the fact that our state standardized tests did several of the chapters out of order. ever notice how you’ll suddenly be looking at chapter 11 when just last week you were on chapter 5, then the next week you’re on chapter 8? standardized testing is the reason. anyways by asking my friends in other classes who had chemistry teachers of relative competence, i was able to discern which chapters i should focus on, and while she was distracted with literally watching youtube videos all period, I was turning around in my seat and walking across the classroom helping my friends and enemies with the packets. (she was a two-packets-a-week kinda teacher.)

yes i said enemies too. the people i hated, i hated because they were sons of bitches i wouldnt piss on to put out a fire. i hated them so dearly i used to pray to god that they would bump into me so i could throw myself into the concrete and split my forehead open and get them expelled due to the blood-clause of our “zero-tolerance policy”. two of the kids in my class had, only the previous year, attempted to set my hair on fire.

i hated the teacher more.

it gave me extreme pleasure to see her fume and clench her fists when a student would say “i need help” across the classroom and she would move to get up and they would say “oh not you miss, im waiting for vicky.” jesus christ the only time ive ever felt a comparable high was when i was at a halloween party in college where i was literally so zooted i couldn’t move.

it got worse over time, her getting more and more angry, my ego growing larger and larger. i was a huge bitch in high school, i really thought i was the smartest bitch in the room at any given moment. severe main character syndrome. imagine that kind of person actually being right for 45 minutes out of every day. can you even comprehend the kind of frustration that would create? in a room full of little sociopaths who dont give a shit about anything but getting this joke of a class over with so they can graduate? your first real teaching job and they look right past you, the teacher, to this annoying little shit whose grades are completely abysmal? how are they managing to learn anything from a child who can barely speak in front of more than 10 people? who turns cherry red in the face of literally every authority figure in the building except you? who can’t concentrate and stay still in one spot for more than five minutes? all of your other classes behave! they listen! they sit down and shut up and do the packets! so what fucking gives!!!

so you say “fine, since you all HATE ME so much i just won’t teach then!!!” on literally week fucking ten of teaching. and instead of prostrating themselves before you, begging you to like... point at transparencies and read directly from powerpoints i guess.

and they all collectively say “okay” and let the chipmunk child flutter between desks and help them memorize formulas and mnemonic devices and shit. surely her grades will suffer if she’s constantly dealing with other people and you’ll have justification that her horseshit is “distracting” and “a detriment to her studies”. she got bored gave up on that after two days after nothing changed.

then we did the midterm.

except at the end of the exam packet was something we never learned because again, she was going through the book chronologically. because i actually enjoyed the chem book (so much that i stole it when the year was up lmao), i knew the material.

it was about lewis dots/structures. i couldn’t tell you a damn thing about it today but in december 2010 i absolutely knew that shit. i didnt have too much of a problem with it in the exam, but the students who had gotten to that point were complaining and at first she pulled that “you should have been studying independently uwu” shit but the class was about to get loud during exam period so she shushed us and said that when we get to that point, just stop, and she’ll mark it correct during grading, no harm no foul just keep it quiet. one of the more confrontational students called horseshit and said theres no way we’re trusting that and there’s definitely no way anyone will keep an entire classroom cheating at the instruction of the teacher quiet.

i offered to teach it.

she scoffed, rolled eyes, said “sure fine but you can’t get your exam back” and i said “okay.” so when everyone was to the point in the exam, we piled them all on her desk and i used the whiteboard to briefly and quietly explain lewis dots, used the book examples and problems, and helped the other kids understand. there were a couple exam questions that were lifted straight from the book problems so i skipped those. while teaching i realized i had gotten a couple wrong which sucked :( it was an incredibly stupid experience overall, and no teacher worth the paper their certification is printed on would have allowed that to happen. and fucking yet.

anyways everyone but me got their exams back and finished it and many of us passed, only a few of them did particularly well.

discussing the chem exam with friends who also took the chem exam, many students found their anecdote about the lewis dots to be confounding, for you see, the exam we took was not, in fact, the midterm, but the god damned final.

she had us taking the fucking final because she didnt read the fucking folders which read “midterm” and “final exam” on them

she was reprimanded severely and we all had to take the exam on different days, in different classrooms, sitting very far apart. after that she hated me even more. like girl it was your fault lmao i am literally a teenager grow up lol. anyways you can imagine how much more fucking insufferable i became, knowing how miserable she was.

it all came to a head in february when some students were giggling quietly following a minor fuck up on her part regarding bellwork. they were making fun of her like “are you sure thats not tomorrows bellwork lol” and a friend next to me did the “hey i need help wait no miss not you sorry” thing and when i answered him, she solidly snapped. blah blah YOURE SOOOO DISTRACTING blah blah YOU THINK YOURE SOOOO SMART DONT YOU blah blah blah and she was like demanding i leave the room and shouting at the top of her lungs at me “ YOU POISON THE MINDS OF EVERY OTHER STUDENT HERE. YOU’RE POISONOUS VICTORIA, YOU’RE A VIRUS IN THIS CLASSROOM.”

i will never forget that line as long as i live. it was like crack to me. i moved to open the door to leave and the vp opened it first. he escorted me to the office and asked me what happened, then told me to keep my head down in class from now on, and that if i wanted to help my friends i should give them my number and help them out on our own time. i was like “bro thats really stupid” and he was like “thats all we can do right now but i promise we’re working on it”

i lasted the rest of the year giving smug smiles as we did packet after fucking packet for the rest of the year. they were all take-home work. i wasnt comfy giving my number to my enemies. the class camaraderie ended.

the final was altered. my class took a different final than the rest of the normal chem classes.

i started 12th grade and got a solid case of senioritis. i told that story to anyone who would listen. while it was happening, i obviously told my favorite teacher everything as it happened. when i mentioned it senior year he was like “oh yeah i forgot about her,

she was fired over the summer.”

Pairing: Daisy Johnson x Daniel Sousa

Based on the prompt: “Can someone make a soulmark story with Daisysous where Daisy's soulmark is "Who the hell are you?" and Daisy, being someone that would always get herself into tight situations, was something that she heard a lot and has gotten kind of desensitized to it and while Daniel's soulmark is "Who I am is on a need to know basis", he had gotten into the habit of asking people who they are to get that kind of response. However, both of them are very focused on their respective missions (Daisy to fight the Chronicoms and Daniel to figure out who is trying to infiltrate his SHIELD base), they didn't realize they were each other's soulmates until he noticed his writing on her body while rescuing her from the barn and then they fall in love yay” from @magickgirl786 (lmk if you want me to untag you)

a/n: I was so inspired by the prompt that I literally pounded this out in like an hour last night. This is my first Daisel/Dousy/Sousy/DaisySous fic so lmk what you think!!

Daisy Johnson hadn’t exactly had a normal life and being born with the words “Who the hell are you?” tattooed on her wrist didn’t make it any better. It was a question she had asked and been asked many times throughout her life. She asked herself that very question constantly growing up as she fashioned a name and identity for herself since she had no family to do it for her. She created Skye, the hacker but then “Skye” was thrown out the window when she met her parents and learned her real name was Daisy Johnson and she started the entire process of creating an identity over again. At some point, Agent Johnson became Quake and Quake became Destroyer of Worlds, she’d had enough names and identities to make a person’s head spin.

Working as a field agent with SHIELD didn’t help much either. Her job ensured that she was asked: “Who the hell are you?” on nearly every assignment. She barely even registered the shock of hearing the words anymore. She certainly wasn’t listening for them in 1953, decades away from anyone who could possibly be a candidate for her soulmate.

Daniel Sousa wasn’t sure what kind of soulmate he’d be getting with a soulmark like “Who I am is on a need to know basis,” but boy did he try to find out. He had tried to elicit the response from every new person he met but it never hit. The words started to make more sense when he joined the SSR and later SHIELD. Surely his soulmate must be an agent, he thought, but soon enough that idea fell through too. The identity of his soulmate was far from his mind as he went about his job, especially when dealing with the added stress of a Peggy Carter imposter. That must’ve been why the words went right over his head.

“Who the hell are you?” His words were harsh as he stepped into his office only to find it occupied by some dame he’d never seen before.

“Who I am is on a need to know basis.” Her words were curt but she radiated power and authority. On a normal day Daniel might’ve shown a little more respect for the woman but today he was out of patience.

“I need to know.” He demanded and she smirked.

“Ah, no, you don’t.” She smiled coyly, “Because I don’t exist, and we’ve never met. Now, can you shut the door please?”

“Not to be rude, but it’s been one of those days,” he began, eying the woman with his signature no-nonsense look, “So produce some credentials or I’m gonna put you in handcuffs.”

She complied immediately and he nearly let out a sigh of relief. Today may have been stressful but at least everyone was being compliant, even the two imposters he caught had gone quietly and without a fuss.

“I should inform you, that’s not my real name,” she spoke evenly as she handed over her ID, “My initials are C-I-A, catch my drift?”

“Subtle.” He deadpanned but he was grateful. It seemed someone was finally taking his fears of Hydra sleeper cells in SHIELD seriously, maybe someone was finally here to make his day easier.

The next thing he knew he was locked up in the very cell he had been keeping the imposters in. So much for making his day easier.

Daisy was surprised by the flare of guilt that came from locking Sousa up in his own holding cell. She normally wouldn’t have thought twice, it was part of the job and she was saving her people and the world, but there was something about Daniel Sousa that gave her pause. Maybe it was because he was a nice guy, or because he was already catching onto Hydra’s presence more than fifty years before it would actually come to light. Either way, she had to shake off the feeling as she continued on her day.

An opportunity to redeem herself not long after. Daniel Sousa was going to die, killed by the Hydra sleeper cells he was trying to expose, but they didn’t have to let that happen. They wouldn’t let that happen if she had any say in it. She still couldn’t figure out why she felt so strongly about a man she had only interfaced with once but something was telling her she couldn’t just let this man die. So she didn’t.

Daniel Sousa was not having a good week. First Hydra, then his base is infiltrated, and now he’s been kidnapped. Except, it’s worse than a kidnapping really, because not only is he no longer in Los Angeles, he was no longer in 1953, and he was, apparently, no longer alive. Somehow Daniel Sousa, Agent of SHIELD and World War II veteran, had found himself in the 1970s without having aged a day. At least this new Future SHIELD still did fieldwork, he really needed the consistency.

He found himself paired up with the agent from his office who’s real identity he learned was Daisy Johnson. He wasn’t sure what it was about her, maybe the power she emanated or her bold attitude, but something drew him to her. Somehow, even with the looming threat of Hydra, he felt less worried with her by his side. Though, maybe it had something to do with her earthquake powers.

It wasn’t until the barn that he realized the true reasoning behind their inexplicable connection.

God, that barn. Daniel wasn’t sure if they’d ever make it out of that god-forsaken building alive. Sitting there listening to Agent Johnson be sliced apart was a torture in itself for him, though he knew his pain was nothing compared to the agony she was surely feeling if her screams were any indicator. She looked like she was on the verge of death when they deposited her back at his side.

“Stay with me,” he remembered begging. He remembered telling her about what happened to his leg. He remembered feeling like there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to make sure she made it out of there alive.

Then she lifted up her hand to show the piece of glass stuck under her skin and he realized why he felt so strongly about the woman lying in his lap. His own words, “Who the hell are you?” were tattooed along her wrist. There was no mistaking his handwriting and while all he wanted to do was replay their meeting back in his mind to find out if she had said his words, he knew he needed to keep his mind on task if he ever wanted a shot at this soulmates thing. So that’s what he did, he threw all of his strength, mind, and ability into getting them out of that terrible barn. It wasn’t until he was seated on the Zephyr with Daisy safe, sound, and healing in front of him that he let his mind wander to the possibilities.

Daisy wasn’t surprised that she wasn’t alone when she woke up, but she was surprised by her company. She had expected Jemma when she woke up in the med bay’s hospital bed with an IV in her arm, but instead she got Daniel Sousa, not that she was complaining. He looked equal parts relieved and nervous when she awoke though she couldn’t figure out why. He didn’t tell her either, though the nervousness remained throughout her recovery. Jemma informed him that he hadn’t left her side the entire time she was unconscious and her heart warmed at the fact. The sentimentality surprised her, she wasn’t one to grow attached so quickly but there was just something about Daniel Sousa. She didn’t find out what until she had been released from medical.

“Agent Johnson, I think we should talk,” he said in that calm but commanding way of his, though Daisy didn’t miss the nervousness in his voice and face.

She merely nodded, following him into the Zephyr’s kitchen. They sat across from each other at the table, Daisy starting up the coffee machine before sitting down.

“What is it, Agent Sousa?” She asked, a teasing smile on her face, “You look like you might vomit.”

“We’re soulmates,” he blurted before immediately cursing himself and Daisy froze in shock.

“Excuse me?” She finally spit out, subconsciously sliding her fingers over the words on her wrist.

She’d heard the words hundreds of times, surely it couldn’t be him.

“I didn’t realize until I saw my writing on your wrist in the barn, I-” he stopped suddenly, unsure of what to say next. He had dreamed about meeting his soulmate, but never had he thought it would go like this. In lieu of knowing what to say, he rolled up his sleeve instead, placing his wrist on the table with his soulmark on full display.

Daisy’s mind was screaming at her as she stared at the man’s wrist. The man was born decades before her, he was supposed to die before she was even born, and yet those were her words, in her handwriting, clearly displayed on his wrist.

“What the hell?” She heard herself mutter, though she didn’t feel like she was in control of her own body in that moment.

“I’m sorry,” Daniel panicked, interpreting her confusion for upset. “I shouldn’t have sprung this on you, especially so soon after recovery-” he rambled before Daisy cut him off by placing a gentle hand on his own that was still resting on the table.

“I’m not upset,” she reassured him, “I just- how is this possible?” She laughed slightly at her own question, soulmarks were an extremely unpredictable thing and even modern science didn’t have a good understanding of them, obviously the chain of events that brought them together were meant to happen.

“I don’t know,” Daniel smiled sadly, “But, as crazy as all this is, I’d like to give it a shot.”

Daisy smiled. She couldn’t help it even if she tried, the man sitting before her was so genuine and even if he wasn’t her soulmate she was sure she’d be feeling the same butterflies in her stomach.

“Me too,” she said softly and the butterflies only flapped harder at the smile that broke across his face.

“I’d like to take you on a date if any of this,” he gestured to the Zephyr and the commotion that came with it, “ever dies down.”

“I’d love that.”

a/n: okay before anyone questions me: yes, i get all of my romantic scenes from the sims because ive never experienced love. everything you read is because i fall in love so easily in the sims.

jungkook was, to put it simply, flabbergasted. yes, that's right, flabbergasted. shook, frazzled, flustered, whatever the word may be. his eyebrow had shot up, his eyes had narrowed into slits, his lips pursed into a thin line. he had to have sat there for a good minute or two, just staring at his two higher ups as if he misheard something. oh, he must've misheard something. they couldn't have said what he thought they just said.

"pardon?" he cleared his throat, his voice having raised a pitch higher than usual.

"it's unorthodox, I know," Nick held out his hands, as if about to begin a lecture. "but just listen." jungkook's head twitched to the side with an unintentional hint of attitude, awaiting for some plausible explanation to the bedlam just spoken. "you should've seen the faces on those people."

"truly, you two captured their attention more than any other footage we showed them." Thomas chimed in, hands planted on his desk with an obnoxiously bright grin trying to coax jungkook onto their side. "I still remember an elderly woman clutched her husband's hand the minute you dropped your camera and ran to (y/n)."

"a couple ladies awed after you bandaged her hands."

"and should I even read you some of the reviews they wrote down?" Thomas pulled out a few sheets from a Manila folder, scanning through them before jungkook sputtered out of his trance.

"no, no, really, I'm okay," he quickly spat out. he took a moment to gather himself, eyes closed whilst containing his panic. "really, I'm okay. I don't need to hear the reviews." something about the opinion of others seemed unnerving to jungkook, as if their words could sway his already conflicted mind.

"oh, okay," Thomas chuckled out, stacking the sheets again and tucking them into their folder. Nick took the opportunity to continue his speech.

"jungkook, you have the option to refuse this offer, but keep in mind the consequences. you will be the one at fault for any loss of reviews we may have. this is (y/n)'s opportunity, this could be her break." jungkook frowned his brows, his mind already betraying him with the inevitable tale of woe that will occur if jungkook refused. "if she doesn't get enough views, we're going to have to either transfer her, or fire her."

there it was. the words that would determine jungkook's answer. his heart thudded painfully against his chest, making his fears ever apparent to his conscious. not that it mattered, since his mind was going just as haywire. to make things worst, her smile seemed to have imprinted itself into his vision, reminding him of what he'd be tarnishing. what he'd be ruining.

god, that smile. what it did to him, how it affected him. he couldn't imagine ever making her frown, the thought was far more daunting than anything he could ever conjure in his mind. what he could imagine, however, was that gorgeous grin that'll occupy her face when she learns what he was willing to sacrifice to keep her happy. that damned smile directed at him, those captivating eyes glistening with adoration to him and him only.

"jungkook?" Nick's voice broke jungkook from his daydreaming, now realizing he was in fact staring off into nothingness with a dumbstruck grin adorning his face. "so is that a yes?"

jungkook blinked, trying to rationalize everything before answering, but his mind was too preoccupied with his chivalric hero arc that could preside over his life soon. what really hit the cherry on top for his decision, the piece de resistance that left his mind in a state of delusion, was the over exaggerated scene of (y/n) clinging to his arm, hands lying atop his biceps whilst she stared up longingly into him, whispering, "my hero," and peppering kisses on his shoulder, the scene itself reminding him of some paperback romance novel middle aged women would read and fawn over.

"yes."

"you can't be serious." jimin wheezed, one hand clamped over his mouth and the other wrapped around his convulsing stomach. hoseok bit down on his lip, coughing to disguise his own laughter. namjoon and taehyung remained emotionless, taehyung more so displaying slight intrigue compared to namjoon's shock. "you have to actually date the ice queen herself."

"don't call her that, idiot," namjoon grumbled, turning to face jungkook from across the table. "did they tell you anything else? like what you're to do when she denies you?"

just like that, jungkook's mind hit a dead end, a figurative record scratch signalling the end of his train of thought. after hours of envisioning what dating (y/n) would be like, he's finally hit a potential bump in the road: she may not like him.

you don't like her either, doofus, stay focused.

"well, it's not like she can reject an offer like that, she needs her job too much to deny jungkook." taehyung took a long sip from his coke, shrugging and leaning back into the booth seat afterwards. "it would just be a dumb move on her part if she actually does opt to transfer."

jungkook sat quietly, eyes averting to the other patrons of the diner.

"right, jungkook?" taehyung continued, but was met with silence. taehyung stared at jungkook blankly, fitting together the pieces of jungkook's broken story rather quickly. "jungkook."

the children consuming straight syrup from across the room seemed much more interesting than the conversation taking place as his eyes refused to stray from the scene. to ensure his distance from the topic, he stuffed a handful of fries into his mouth. sure he was already regretting the extra dosage of sodium in his system, just as long as he didn't have to face the disapproving looks of his associates. he could already feel taehyung's cold stare chipping away at his resolve, his own leg beginning to bounce anxiously once he caught a sliver of namjoon's realization in his peripheral vision.

"oh my god." namjoon groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance once he realized the issue at hand.

"you're not allowed to tell her." taehyung clarified aloud, in case there was any confusion that could be present at the table. hoseok whipped his head around to jungkook in disbelief, never expecting his friend to stoop this low for some god forsaken job.

"they said the footage would be too... artificial. to just leave it to me, instead."

jungkook wasn't stupid. he realized how deceitful the whole situation seemed. he realized that although he's preserving her job, he's also playing her like a ventriloquist, tugging at strings to work in his favor; coercing her into a false state of security. he could see she was only just beginning to grow comfortable around him, and he knew if she found out about this, she'd close herself off again for good.

wait.

if.

"if." jungkook finally met taehyung's hard gaze with his own wide eyed one. "if she finds out."

"you're not actually doing this," hoseok whispered out. the situation was becoming more and more real, and although he didn't know (y/n) very well, he knew she wasn't being respected in this way and didn't deserve this. "jungkook, you're insane if you actually do this."

"I don't know, guys," jimin wiped a stray tear from his eyes, shoulders still bouncing with silent laughter. "I think this is good for her."

even jungkook doubted jimin's words, his only follower so far.

"elaborate please?" namjoon asked, face still buried in his hands.

"she's probably so uptight because she's never had a relationship." jimin leaned over and snatched taehyung's soda, drinking a bit and then continuing his spiel. "never experienced that warmth from holding someone's hand." namjoon began peeling away his hands, now turning to look at jimin. "never experienced the excitement of a text message from someone." hoseok was gradually leaning further into the table, eyebrows curved in despair at (y/n)'s potential sad life. "never experienced love in general." hoseok awed to himself, hand resting atop his heart with his jaw agape at jimin's narrative.

"so you want jungkook to go in there, probably shatter her fragile little heart, and call it a day?" taehyung asked, leaning on to the table to look over namjoon at jimin. he digested taehyung's accusation, aerating like he's been given the finest wine of Italy.

"yes," he answered in a simple statement. before he took another swig of soda, he pointed at taehyung one last time. "for development."

"well, who's to say I will break her heart?" jungkook countered, eyebrows creased in worry at the aspect of him hurting her. "what if the break up is amicable?"

"well then she'll develop in maturity," jimin continued. "once again, for development."

jungkook could see taehyung's brow twitch, almost as if considering jimin's words. soon, the aerating travelled around the table, everyone taking a sip of jimin's figurative wine and reaching a conclusion.

"for development." namjoon sighed out, the first one to give in to jimin's ideology. a devilish grin creeped up onto jimin, a side glance to namjoon showing just how sure he was he'd get people on his side.

"for development," hoseok joined in, more sure of his answer than namjoon. he lifted his soda and leaned over, clinking the paper cup with jimin and tossing back whatever he had left in the cup.

"for development," taehyung rested his head on his hand, a glum expression taking place as if he was still doubting the validity of this predicament.

that being said, jungkook was once again at the decision point. all eyes on him. basically saying, he had to decide whether to tell (y/n) and screw up his bosses ploy for views, or he keeps this hidden and just offers (y/n) a first hand experience of relationships.

you don't like her, idiot. this will only benefit her, you don't have to feel guilty.

one brief pause for last minute decision changes... nothing.

"for development."

jungkook was leaning outside of accounting, his camera in hand pointing at his shoes. inside his head, he claimed to be checking the diagnostics of the camera, but really he was just delaying his reunion with (y/n). he didn't want to face her now knowing something she didn't. he felt like he was scheming against her, but he knew what he was doing was for the greater good... of her. he kept repeating in his head how this was all going to benefit her and only her in the end, but he still felt the tugs of guilt on his heart. she didn't deserve this mistreatment. she deserved all the good the earth had to offer.

you don't like her. focus.

swiveling around, he finally cracked open the door, peeking in briefly just to warm him up. his eyes naturally gravitated to her desk where she sat adjacent to namjoon. her eyes were rolled back and facing the ceiling, lips twitching as if mumbling an incoherent incantation. after a few seconds, she quickly went back to her computer and began typing.

jungkook grinned, his nerves melting away at the familiar quirk of her doing her mental math, and he slipped into the room with as little noise as possible. the other accountants paid no mind to him already used to his presence at this point. namjoon, however, stiffened when he heard the click of the door shutting and saw (y/n) glance up.

namjoon also saw the way the girl's eyes lit up upon spotting jungkook, something he's only ever seen when acquainted with someone, causing him to sit up and stare because she doesn't even look at him like that and he's her closest friend in the office.

"hi namjoon," jungkook greeted his friend before turning to (y/n). his stomach churned into knots as he racked his brain for anything he could say to her. somehow, everything felt different even though he hasn't even started on his task. "hi (y/n)."

"hi jungkook." she answered back softly, turning back to her computer to keep working.

well that was simple enough. maybe he could delay his task for one more day, instead work on his friendship with her for now. jungkook leaned against his usual filing cabinet, camera lifted and aimed at her. it took five minutes of their usual routine for namjoon to realize that jungkook wasn't going to say anything above a greeting. namjoon glared at his friend who assumed being friendly would win (y/n)'s heart; a rare feat no living person has ever accomplished. and here stands jungkook, all two braincells frolicking away in his head with his camera in place as if documenting her arithmetic was going to do anything for him and his mission.

"so, (y/n)," namjoon spoke cautiously, eyes trained on jungkook's ignorant self. "have you ever tried bubble tea?"

"bubble tea?" she asked, head tilted but eyes still focused on her work.

"yeah, it's really good." namjoon cleared his throat as if signalling for jungkook's attention. "the boys and I are planning on getting some after work, if you're interested."

"oh, that's so polite," she finally broke away from her computer to face her friend. offering a hand over her heart, she pouted her lips as if she just witnessed the cutest display of affections ever. then, with a cold and apathetic glare, she turned back to her computer. "no."

namjoon turned again to jungkook who looked back at him. namjoon raised his brow, as if challenging jungkook, and jungkook never backs down from a challenge.

"I didn't know we were getting bubble tea," jungkook fibbed, silently cursing himself for his horrible acting. this is one reason as to why he was behind the camera and not in front of it.

"yes, taehyung and I were going to tell you later." if jungkook was a bad actor, namjoon was the worst possible actor to ever walk the surface of the earth.

(y/n) side eyed the two of them, amused by their obvious attempts to get her out of the house. it was always a trial for namjoon to get her to do anything, but for some reason, she felt reasonably soft for her colleague today.

"alright namjoon," she sighed, lifting her coffee mug up to her lips. "what in God's good name is bubble tea?"

she snickered at his bewildered expression, sipping her warm beverage without even acknowledging jungkook's equally as shocked face.

"you have to do something big to get her attention," jimin explained in a low whisper so only the boys could hear him. it wasn't as if anyone else could, considering they were huddled conspicuously in the corner of the cafe away from any wandering ears. any sane person would believe they were conspiring against the establishment; instead, they were giving love advice to their youngest. "Will Smith said that is the first step to winning a girl's attention, and I don't think your whole act of valour was enough for her. she's kinda dense, not going to lie."

"alright first of all, she completed calculus 2 before she even got out of highschool, which is how she was able to get into her position so quickly." namjoon interjected, followed by an aggressive shush from taehyung. "meanwhile," he continued, voice hushed into a whisper-scream hybrid. "you can't even fucking measure two teaspoons of honey properly."

"wait, why Will Smith?" hoseok suddenly asked, just now processing jimin's guiding words.

"wow you're still on this shit, joon?" jimin stood straight, voice crescendoed into a regular speaking voice causing hoseok to grab the back of his head and yank him back down. "I'll have you know, an event about my measuring abilities, which happened a whole year ago, thank you very much, has nothing to do with my intellect."

"he's referencing the movie Hitch, hobi," taehyung answered the question from before. hoseok gave a low "ah" in acknowledgement, reminiscing on the movie night the boys had a few weeks back.

"I think the whole bandaging thing was kinda cute," hoseok added, trying to direct the conversation back to jungkook's predicament. "I mean, if I were a girl, I would remember that."

"thank you, that's where I was heading." namjoon nodded to hoseok in gratitude. "secondly, I saw how she looked at you today." at that, jungkook felt his heart flutter. perhaps just from having a girl like him, like a highschool secret admirer, but nothing more. he doesn't like her, as he's reminded himself many times already. this was purely to benefit her. he kept reminding himself of this, whenever he felt his emotions spiraling into something remotely deeper than camaraderie. namjoon's slight scoff drew jungkook back to reality. "I've never seen that girl admire something more than you, not even her friends receive that same glint."

and there he goes. jungkook's heart stuttered as he took a sharp inhale, unheard by the boys who drowned out his shock with a chorus of "ooh."

"admiration isn't love," taehyung warned. jungkook blinked away his ardor, a whole new sense of confusion taking place at taehyung's newfound pessimism. "admiration is watching your favorite movie after a long day, or nursing a flower into adulthood; it's temporary, and not very big." just as quickly as he had bloomed with joy, he deflated with taehyung's words. his friend was always one for looking at the brighter side of things, ever the sanguine soul, yet here he was showing rationale? this taehyung was completely foreign to jungkook, the usual glimmer in his friend's eye now dissipated in favor of a more stern look.

"wow," namjoon sighed, jutting his jaw out to the side in thought. "you're kind of right."

it seemed jungkook's rollercoaster of emotions plummeted as he mulled over the discussion. maybe taehyung's rarity was needed to ground himself back to reality; to remind him that this was an awful idea. for development? yeah, she'll be getting experience in relationships, but was he willing to be the one to break her? to be her first heartbreak? he couldn't even tell her what was going on. this was all far too cunning on his part. never would he have imagined he would be dating for his job... as a cameraman. maybe back in his highschool days when he was just one failed quiz away from dropping out and pursuing the career of a stripper, but not now when everything was just falling into place for him.

"that's close enough," jimin broke the silence, a thumbs up from him appearing in the center of their circle. "you're in there, dude, you just have to dig in deeper."

"guys, I'm not so sure about this anymore–"

at that moment, the door to the tea shop opened, a faint ringing carrying through the establishment as the boys all turned to see who had entered. as expected, it was (y/n) finally arriving, scanning the area for her promised associates. jungkook always thought it intriguing how apparent she became once one got to know her. to an outsider's perspective, she may have appeared to be a confident patron here for tea, a sense of dominion with every step she took. past that stone facade of hers, however, lied a nervous girl who was constantly unsure of where she was, questioning whether she should've come at all. this, however, was not what had jungkook frozen in his place.

he could not tear his gaze from the ever hypnotizing being before him. from her cold glare which called for the attention of everyone around her to the way her usual pinned hair now lied loose over her shoulders, she had him completely under her spell– unintentional at that. like an arrow to his heart, she just had to grin their way and shuffle over to the group; a juxtaposing shy act exuding from her nearly suffocating aura of preeminence.

a familiar jarring sensation in his gut sunk him even deeper in his train of thoughts, taking him back to the overwhelming comfort he felt from her casual attire in her apartment. here she stands in a sweater and loose jeans, stealing away jungkook's breath without even acknowledging the power she holds over him. it absolutely didn't help that the short length of the sweater revealed a sliver of stomach, and that small area of skin completely threw jungkook off as he was so accustomed to most of her skin being hidden away for work.

"I'm sorry for being late," she bowed her head in embarrassment, face already showing hints of a rosy hue. "had I known you would all be here by now, I would've arrived earlier."

"no need to apologize," jimin answered, waving her off with a smile. "we just showed up unreasonably early."

jungkook couldn't process anything that was happening as his eyes were trained solely on her. his feet carried him off with the group as they all entered the line to order, all the while his mind worked double time to memorize every small detail about her.

jungkook was completely at a loss. never before has he ever wanted to memorize something for himself. he always depended on his beloved /physical/ memory storage, but the moment at hand seemed inappropriate for documenting as she was always before a camera. if he were to take a picture of her lovely profile or record the pushing back of hair behind her ear, it would have to be on his phone, which seemed drastically unworthy of filming such a surreal deity like herself.

his fingers itched by his side, begging to capture at least one blurry picture of her, but his conscious held him back. she deserved a moment of peace without cameras directed at her.

"what are you getting?" his jaw fell open as the apple of his eye spun around, question directed to him of all people.

"I'm not sure yet," he chuckled out, voice having turned slightly scratchy from his mouth devoid of saliva. "perhaps just some... bubble milk tea." what was he talking about, he only ever drank the fruity bubble tea. right now, his mind was on auto pilot, and apparently coasting a rather bumpy ride.

"I was thinking peach." she turned back to the board displaying all of the options, head tilting in thought. "I love peaches." the tilt of her head was unbearably close to his shoulder and he was forced to resist the many soft thoughts coursing through his head. God, he just wanted to pull her head into his chest and let her rest her worries away.

"peach is good," he sighed out, biting down on his cheek to resist the urge of resting his chin on her crown. "you'll like it." she will like it, he was sure of that. again, having recorded her for many weeks now, he's grown to know quite a bit about her, such as her active sweet tooth which left her secretly slipping out fruity sticks of gum from her bag to ease away the urges of treats. she glanced over to him again, an oblivious smile forming.

"how do you think so?" she inquired, and as if blessed by the mighty archangel himself, the cashier called for (y/n) to order before he was obligated to answer her inquiry. jungkook faintly heard the words 'peach boba' leave her mouth, but he was too far gone thinking about her.

the initial get together went off without a hitch, everyone having bonded over their bubble tea and getting to know the newcomer. as predicted, jungkook was seated beside (y/n), silent encouragement passed over to him throughout the encounter without her noticing. although he was grateful for the motivation, he never wanted to murder a group of people more than his friends when (y/n) offered a sip of her tea to him, having noticed him gag at his drink. he knew he wouldn't hear the end of it from his friends, at least until the next sickeningly sweet moment shared between the two.

currently, the group made their way down the main street of their town, storefronts and light posts illuminating their path as they walked without any care in the world. jungkook and (y/n) stuck to the back of the gang, whether intentional or not, beside each other. his thoughts were far too fogged to process whatever the boys were saying ahead and also to strike up a conversation with the obscenely silent woman beside him.

I mean, I don't think I have to try to make conversation right now. I think the boba incident was enough for one night, right?

his thoughts were halted by the arrival of two girls intercepting their travels.

"hello," one of them shyly muttered out. "w-we're big fans of the office, and we were just wondering if we could get a picture with you guys?"

jungkook almost forgot that the office was an actual documentary seen by actual people and not just a figment of his own cameraman fantasy. this was quite possibly the first time he's ever witnessed a fan and he was, to put it simply, startled. more so when he saw one of the girls blush at namjoon holding her shoulder and lifting her camera up. actual girls like this loser of an accountant.

speaking of accountants.

he finally took note of (y/n)'s retreating figure, taking refuge behind him and clinging to his sleeve softly. oh, how his heart ached at that simple gesture. two occurrences in one night, he was definitely on a roll. though his mind refused to celebrate his accomplishment, opting instead for sympathizing with the apparently invisible girl. she was only just beginning to make her presence known this season, so it was understandable that these girls wouldn't want pictures of her.

"excuse me?" a voice broke jungkook from his thoughts and he instead focused on one of the girls from before who was now standing in front of him. "I'm sorry to intrude, but are you (y/n) (l/n)?"

silence. (y/n) was tongue tied, not expecting such a development when she had agreed to come out for tea this night. someone is actually asking her for her identification. someone she's never met before. this girl knows her, and she has no idea who this person is. the concept was unnerving, but nonetheless... slightly flattering.

"she is," jungkook responded, free hand slipping over one of her own, still gripping his sleeve.

"may I have a picture with you?"

and just like that, (y/n) was borderline about to faint. someone wants her picture. they could've very well gone ahead and neglected her, but thought she was important enough to waste some time on. with that encouraging thought in her head, she nodded and scuffled over to the fan.

"wait for me!" the other girl groaned in annoyance, leaping over to her friend who's phone was already raised and shimmying into the frame. (y/n)'s heart swelled with validation, grinning impossibly wide for the two expectant girls.

meanwhile, jungkook admired the scene before him. these two girls wanting to forever remember the day they met (y/n), a simple accountant from some documentary turned comedy. he felt the urge to laugh in his manager's face, show him how she racked in a fan base from doing nothing. oh, how he could only imagine what the result of this third season would be, now having more attention directed to her; to be validated as she deserves.

just like clockwork, jungkook's breathe faltered at her smile, eyes falling to his for just a brief moment as the girls pulled the others in for a group photo. reminding him of his first day meeting her, how she called for the attention of everyone in the room by just walking in, he was once again reminded of how breathtaking her natural beauty is. how could he have been so ignorant all these years, so absorbed in his camera that he couldn't realize that there are just some things a camera can't capture to it's full extent– she's one of them.

"excuse me?" jungkook looked down to find one of the girls holding her phone out to him with a courteous smile. "could you take a picture of us for me?"

"yeah, of course," jungkook took the phone and held it up, waiting for the group to gather together as the girls instructed. as jimin chastised the girls, supposedly about how they wanted him in the front because of his height, taehyung waltzed over to jungkook, a cocky grin on his face.

"so how's it going?" he asked, his voice laced with a teasing tone.

"what do you mean?" jungkook asked, eyes trained on the screen rather than his friend.

"you know what I mean." taehyung chuckled, although namjoon's laughter from a meter away was far louder than the one next to his ear. "I see how you look at her." jungkook gulped, hands squeezing tighter around the phone as the group counted down for him. with one last statement from taehyung, jungkook took the photo, eyes now focused on one subject of the photo. "you actually like her, don't you?"

it had been a week since the group went on their bubble tea outing, and it had been a week since jungkook's last move on (y/n). following the event of taehyung's acknowledgement, jungkook found himself completely flustered upon any encounter with said girl. it didn't help his case that he was also always around her for his profession.

he kept his eyes focused on the screen at all times, never daring to peek at her real form, knowing he'd become a blushing mess upon the resurfacing of his conflicted emotions. he knew he shouldn't like her, he knew that liking her would only cause heartache for not only him, but also for her. he knew he had to keep things distant, and to let her off easy, but he feared his nearing "relationship" with her, and the inevitable fallout. while her meer presence filled him with dread and anxiety, there were also the softest ebbs of warmth and comfort whenever he captured her smiling or fiddling around with the items on her desk.

it was as if the polar opposite applied for (y/n), however, as she found herself growing more comfortable around the cameraman constantly filming her. she's grown more adjusted to being filmed these past few weeks than she ever had these past few years, and she likes to believe it was because of jungkook. her heart always seemed to ease into a state of serenity whenever she gazed upon him. his curly locks which fell over his eyes like a curtain always calmed her during her most fretful of times, his soft, boyish charms awakening something within her which she believed to be dead at times. yet with all of these emotions stirring within, there was always a small voice whispering to her far in the recesses of her mind; a constant reminder to her that this bond she wished to be real was strictly taboo, and knowing jungkook, he would never risk his job for the likings of her.

and to namjoon, he experienced immense pain everyday as he had to watch the exchanges between the two. at this point, he didn't know who liked who, if not both of them liking the other. he knew ever since the knife incident, something altered between the pair, but he couldn't pinpoint what exactly it was.

all he was sure about was that he was growing tired of the subtle, nervous glances and the soft sighs that were passed by the others in the room but him. he just had to put an end to this somehow, knowing the both of them are far too shy and oblivious for their own good.

devising a plan was much harder than namjoon could've ever imagined, as he wanted to keep everything natural and allow for a smooth execution. however, he already had one in mind before noon even hit, deciding it be best to initiate his scheme during their lunch hour.

namjoon and (y/n) usually decided to eat at their desks as it served as an easier (and lazier) route to get back to work. so as they ate and conversed, jungkook sat and filmed, barely paying attention to their words as his eyes zeroed in on (y/n)'s awkward grin at namjoon's cheesy joke, her cheeks rounded by the food in her mouth.

"alright, alright, enough," namjoon chuckled out, taking a sip of his water to wash down his food, deciding it best to change the topic at hand to better steer his ploy in the right direction. "I am not looking forward to this weekend."

"why not?" she asked, turning back to her lunch.

"my mom is deciding to visit, so I have to go grocery shopping to cook for her since she always expects a meal from me. I'm not even a chef, as you can clearly see." he raised his half eaten sandwich in the air, taking another bite and dropping it back onto it's respective napkin.

"speak for yourself." (y/n) raised her salad to him, before shaking her head and shoveling more lettuce into her mouth, mumbling out her next sentence. "I didn't even make this, my roommate made it for me."

"I wish I had a roommate to make me lunch," namjoon grumbled, side eyeing jungkook and taking note of his dazed expression. "but yeah, busy weekend. you?"

"I never really do anything on the weekends." she explained, tilting her head in thought. "I would like to go window shopping, just for fun, but I probably won't go."

"why not?" namjoon pressed, his interest now piqued at the smooth progression of his plan. "why not take your roommate?"

"I don't know, Macy usually spends her days with either her boyfriend or her other friends. Cindi is usually the exact same." (y/n) casted her gaze down to the gray surface of her desk, mood dropping at the reminder of how alone she was. meanwhile, namjoon had to bite back the smile threatening to break his temperament.

"well, you've got the guys to take you." namjoon turned over again to jungkook who hadn't processed one word of the exchange. rolling his eyes to himself, namjoon coughed obnoxiously loud in jungkook's direction, clearing his throat and sipping more water to keep the illusion of having choked. meanwhile, jungkook blinked away his disorient and looked to namjoon in concern. "pardon my... dysfunctional esophagus which can't swallow food apparently." the breathy laugh coming from (y/n) truly grounded jungkook as he was now very aware of his surroundings. "I'm sure one of them would be more than happy to take you out."

"it feels..." she paused for a moment, eyes upturned in thought as she considered her words, filing through her emotions for a valid explanation. "unfulfilling... to take one of the boys with me."

"well, just consider the offer," namjoon didn't have to turn to jungkook this time around, knowing that he had caught on and was ever grateful to his elder for the opportunity.

it was a few minutes past five now, everyone packing up for the day and ready to head out. jungkook had been buzzing in his seat all day, waiting for the perfect moment to ask her. technically, he was asking her out on their first date, or at least hoping this rendezvous would escalate into a date. if this didn't work out, he wouldn't know what else to do. he was stubborn, though, and willing to keep pushing for however long before she completely cut him off.

with that one last determined thought in his mind, he puffed out a heavy sigh and made his way over to accounting.

by now, the route to the department was second nature to jungkook, as if his feet would carry him directly to there even if he hadn't been thinking it. so it was natural for jungkook to have floundered rather obviously as he now stood before her desk, his thoughts too consumed with how to ask her out that he didn't even realize he had reached his destination.

"hello, jungkook," she greeted, eyes trained on her computer as she logged out for the day. "I thought you were heading home."

"I was," he hesitated, cursing how out of breathe he sounded. just focus on the task at hand, idiot. you have to ask her out eventually, might as well do it now. "I just... remembered something."

"and what would that be?" she stared at the blue screen of her desktop, eyeing his reflection secretly. she could tell he wasn't his usual self, head down casted to his twiddling thumbs as he racked his brain for the simplest of words to begin his ploy.

"I..." his voice was barely audible, barely a breathe, and yet she could pinpoint the nerves that must be going haywire within him, and so she finally turned around to give him the benefit of the doubt. when jungkook met her stare, he froze for a moment. she was just as beautiful as the day he first saw her, except maybe even more so today, for he has grown rather acquainted with her and her eyes which spoke to him so clearly and thoughtfully like the most expressive of sonnets. those hypnotizing eyes which shone with such intrigue and kindness that he couldn't believe he ever thought she were stuck up. with these thoughts, he took in a huff of breathe and clenched his jaw, persevering through his anxieties and announcing his inquiry. "I was wondering if you would be interested in maybe going out with me. maybe this weekend if you're not busy."

jungkook stood silently as she blinked up at him, eyebrows risen up a fraction in surprise. to anyone else, it may have looked like jungkook was but moments away from rejection; jungkook knew otherwise as his mouth began twitching into a smile. he blessed those dazzling eyes of hers for being windows into her soul which he found himself becoming rather fluent in. he could just see the mirth kindling in her, growing rapidly as she fully processed his words.

what started as slow nods morphed into rapid ones, a smile blossoming across her face. jungkook laughed at her glee, arms gravitating to her midsection in a loose grasp. she held his shoulders just as softly, giggles bubbling within her once her giddiness reached an all time high. for the briefest of moments, jungkook allowed himself to soak in her happiness before he was reminded of his scheme. he was only doing his job.

clearing his throat, he pulled away hesitantly, still smiling as he bowed his head.

"I'll pick you up this Saturday?" he asked, biting the inside of his lip to straighten out his face.

"yeah, that sounds like a plan."

"focus," jungkook muttered to himself as he stepped foot into the elevator. "you're doing your job." he rolled his shoulders, the action doing nothing to ease his tense muscles. he jerked his head to the side, successfully cracking his neck and alleviating some stiffness, albeit not a lot. as the elevator reached her floor, he steadied his breathing, striding out and smoothing out his yellow button up. "it's a professional date, nothing more." he silently counted the door numbers up to hers, sighing out before knocking gently. "nothing less."

in the few moments that jungkook waited outside the door, he rehearsed everything he learned in his training course with jimin, eye twitching at how jimin's main source of knowledge still came from Hitch with Will Smith. memories of jimin forcing him to sit in his living room for a second time, pausing every few minutes as they watched Hitch to discuss something said or done. jungkook was now seeing why he should never get advice from his friends.

his thoughts were disrupted by the swinging open door in front of him, revealing a girl he had yet to meet.

"you must be jungkook!" jungkook internally cringed at her overly cheery tone this early in the morning. without another word, she grabbed his forearm and dragged him into the apartment. "I'm Macy, I'm (y/n)'s roommate!" jungkook nodded, his shy nature appearing as he hadn't any clue to what to say next, although it seemed like he needn't worry as Macy continued to speak. "(y/n) will be out any minute! I've been helping her get ready for today. you know, you're the first date I've seen (y/n) go out with since I've been her roommate for the past few years."

jungkook furrowed his brows as he listened to her. he knew (y/n) wasn't one for dating or social interactions at all, but hearing that this was the first time in probably ages that she's gone on a date or an outing was a surprise to him; someone with her looks must be sought out by many, surely.

"oh, I should probably stop talking." Macy laughed, covering her mouth and turning back to the hall of (y/n)'s room. "I'm sorry, I'm just so excited for her. I love seeing her happy."

"me too," jungkook sighed out, clamping his mouth shut after realizing his subconscious words. before Macy could respond, a door opening ended the conversation and the both of them stood at attention, peering at the figure emerging. jungkook's breath caught at his throat, nearly causing him to choke if he didn't clear his throat in time. if he thought she looked beautiful before, at this very moment, she was very nearly ethereal– angelic, even.

rather than sporting her usual mute and neutral tones of grays and tans, she wore a mini white dress which seemed to be the epitome of summer in heaven. the slight puff to her sleeves reminded him that of a princess of sorts, and he suddenly felt the urge to recite poetry to her, professing his undying love for the noblewoman before him. he had to remind himself that he is indeed a man of the 21st century and not a simple peasant living off his lute's tunes whilst battling a plague. a simple gold necklace adorned her neck, resting beneath her collarbones and adding to her overall aura of elegance. she looked untouchable, as if he would be scolded if he were to even breathe next to her, like the most treasured of diamonds stood before him in human form. beautiful, pure, glowing–

"look at you!" Macy squealed loudly, rushing over to her friend and engulfing her in a hug. "my beautiful friend! aren't you just perfect!"

"thank you," (y/n) whispered out, her face turning redder by the minute, but her smile growing tenfold. she was released by Macy and pushed towards jungkook, the former girl still giggling away in the background. "hi." (y/n) still spoke in a low volume, her inner panic increasing even more so as she took in jungkook's appearance. it was as simple as ever, something she'd find him wearing at work often when he ran out of shirts and sweaters, but it was much more endearing when he hadn't a camera placed atop his shoulder.

"hello," he replied, grinning as he saw how nervous she was. from this proximity, he could see the light makeup highlighting her features, culprit most likely the female behind her. it was soft and natural with natural glimmers here and there, just adding to her already breathtaking appearance. jungkook didn't know if he could survive after today, knowing he'd have to eventually stop looking at her for good when... when?

when would he have to break up with her?

"alright you two," Macy clapped loudly, snapping jungkook out of his thoughts with a fright. "be home by 10– it's still girl's night, remember?" she pointed at (y/n) in an accusatory manner as if knowing she'd forget. "and you." she shifted her finger to jungkook. "take care of her please. I really don't want to file any police reports of sorts if you wind up being a serial killer." jungkook snickered and turned back to (y/n), his prior worries fading away into the white noise of the recesses of his mind.

"come on, pretty girl." he tilted his head towards the door, allowing her to step forward first and for him to trail behind, a hesitant hand hovering near hers, but opting to remain by his side.

"I like this one," (y/n) whined, stretching her arm over to jungkook as he parked in front of her apartment complex. he reached up to turn the interior lights on, squinting down at her hand which held one of the many photo booth strips they had obtained. upon analysis of the photo, however, jungkook began shaking his head.

"no, that one's mine." he began to unbuckle his seatbelt, signalling his decision was cemented and he was not going to fight her on the matter. she stomped her foot in dismay, pressing her lips together and whining some more.

"I like your smile here, though," she pointed to one of the pictures, which just so happened to also be one of his favorites consisting of her pouting with an angry expression and him laughing at her as she tried to convince him to join her before the timer ran out. "you look cute, I like your nose when it's all scrunched up like that." jungkook fought back a smile, taking a moment to admire her once more. even in the dim lighting of his car, she still held the beauty that of Aphrodite. just like the picture being discussed, she pouted cutely. oh, if only she knew how much she had affected him this day.

from the moment he took her out to breakfast, where she had let him take pictures of her and her breakfast, he was already struggling to keep his composure. he had tried to keep to mundane activities like window shopping downtown, but failed as he saw a fair in town and insisted they go. his set line of professionalism was blurring rapidly with every second he spent with her. he didn't even regret winning her that stuffed penguin she had fawned over at the baseball toss booth, just glad he didn't fumble and make a fool of himself that night like he usually does. it seems to him that his competitiveness has finally come to use as he is now practiced in every fair game possible.

"no," he stated again, blinking away his delirium and shifting his gaze back to the picture. he lifted his hand to settle beneath hers, thumb tapping against her face on the film. "I don't have a pouty you yet. it's mine." he plucked it out of her hands and slipped it into the center console of his car.

"if you're so insistent on collecting pictures of me like pokemon cards, I can just pout for you right now." he raised a brow, glancing over to her as she grumbled to herself.

"okay." he pulled out his phone, never one to back out of a potential photo op. as he held up his phone, focused on her sudden pouty face, he reddened at the realization of the many pictures he took of her today. he couldn't resist, especially with such a subject as her at his will. with a slide of his thumb, he pressed record, still holding up his phone like he was taking a picture of her still pouty face. "but I'm not giving you the picture." and with that, her jaw dropped and her eyes narrowed, causing him to start laughing away at his new video.

"you know what, I don't need this. I don't need this, I'm leaving." she jokingly grabbed all of her stuff and opened the door, marching over to her apartment complex with her chin held high.

"(y/n)!" he continued to laugh as he turned off his car, rushing over to her ever persistent form. "(y/n), baby." he held her bicep, sighing out his last snicker as she finally halted, turning around to face him. "thank you for the picture."

"I can promise you, I'm getting that picture. it's going to be mine." she turned around again, entering the elevator with him right behind her, his hand sliding down her arm to her own. the hand holding became a quick habit, thankfully, as she kept lagging behind in the crowds of downtown, inevitably leading to jungkook having to maneuver her through and finding it easiest to guide her by holding her.

"I'll be sure to hide it then, thank you very much."

the elevator ride was short, but it gave him enough time to think everything over. how perfect his day was, how perfect /she/ was. he couldn't deny the giddiness he felt with the slightest touch shared, and he knew he was falling dangerously close to liking her, but he couldn't find it within himself to restrain his affections. he was becoming addicted to holding her, any part of her he could. his heart was betraying him, as if it were never a part of whatever plan him and his friends had come up with and only wanted (y/n). wherever she went, it seemed to follow.

he didn't even realize when the elevator had stopped and she had begun to lead him over to her apartment. he only acknowledged his settings when she released him, his hand falling slowly back to it's original position at his hip as she turned over to face him.

he gazed down upon her, eyes glazed over with such intense admiration towards the subject of his attention; a ferocity akin to a victim of cupid. the desire to hold her against him was ever apparent as he felt his arms twitching by his sides, aching to just be near her. his heart throbbed almost painfully as she shyly dropped her head to face the floor. nevertheless, jungkook could see a bashful grin stretching across her face. she twiddled her fingers, keys jingling in her loose grip – just as hitch had warned him.

"I had one of the most... amazing days of my life today, jungkook," she spoke quietly, barely above a whisper as if afraid of shattering the tranquil bubble formed between the two. her words brought an even wider smile to jungkook, and he was thankful that her gaze wasn't on his embarrassingly joyful expression at the validation given to him. "I don't know how to thank you."

"hey," struck by a sudden pang of confidence, he tamed the joker like smile he once had, opting for a smirk, yet his happiness was still transparent through it. his finger rose to rest under chin, tilting her head up to meet his stare. naturally, his finger slid up her jawline, soon becoming his whole hand now against her cheek as she leaned more so into his touch. how endearing. "why would you ever need to thank me when you gave me an equally, if not more, lovely day."

she blushed, lips tightening into a line to hold back her own wide smile. her hand now lied upon his, pushing her face more so into his touch. jungkook didn't think it was possible, but his heart melted at the gesture, and he could feel the warmth from his ever weak vascular organ dripping into his fluttering stomach, coating his innards with a sweet warmth like freshly baked bread.

truly, this was what love was. it had to be, as he could not imagine a greater feeling than this very moment. with will smith's words ringing in his ears, encouraging him to go forward, he bumped his forehead gently against hers, giving her plenty of time to pull away, but she never did. instead, she slowly rose to her toes and pressed her lips against his.

and just like that, jungkook was gone. all of his muscles loosened, practically sagging as he fell victim to the sickeningly sweet sensation which came with kissing (y/n). he was actually kissing her, something he now cursed himself for not imagining more so before, but also thanking as this was better than anything he could've wasted his time imagining.

the taste of her cherry lipgloss and strawberry icecream hit him like a tsunami, pushing him further and further into this state of blissful unconsciousness he found himself spiraling into, much like his feelings falling more and more in love with the woman in his arms. pulling her flush against chest, he deepened the kiss, head tilting naturally as she buried a hand into his hair.

love. pure, unadulterated, head-over-heels, over-the-moon love. that's what he was feeling. nothing else could describe that addicting, adrenaline like feeling plaguing his thudding heart, even after they pulled away from their kiss. her hand loosened from his hair, about to drop when he shot his own hand up to keep hers there, pushing his head into her touch like she had done to him.

this was paradise. standing here, outside her apartment in the hallway of her building, faded beige walls as the only witness to the nearly Disney movie sort of kiss just shared. all he could do was stand there, holding her hand so delicately, like the most fragile of porcelain.

"I should go," she giggled, scratching her nails gently against his scalp. with one last dreamy sigh, jungkook dragged her hand down his cheek to his lips, pressing the gentlest of kisses against her palm. he held her there against his lips for just a brief moment, trying to memorize the silk like skin which sparked flames beneath his own. pulling away, he brushed his nose against her knuckles, eyes sealing shut in his intense emotions.

"I adore you." it was barely a whisper, coming straight from his aching heart as he tried to regain his sense of reason, but it was just loud enough for her to hear. loud enough for her to completely crumble any last walls that blocked off her heart before, and she was already diving headfirst into her love for jungkook.

she pulled him closer to her, pressing another, doting kiss to his lips before quickly turning to unlock her door. the sooner she was away from him, the sooner her palpitating heart could ease away its excitement. as she slipped in, she spared one last glance to jungkook who stood mesmerized in the middle of the hallway, a dopey grin slapped across his handsome features.

"I adore you," she whispered back to him, closing the door before his starstruck expression could hit her. she pressed her back against the wood, biting her lip for probably the hundredth time that day, trying to calm herself down. she loved him. she loved jungkook.

so i binged all of 911 over the span of like four days and now i can’t stop thinking about paramedic/firefighter jackson (whichever you prefer, both are Very Good) and police sergeant stiles help me

leave it to @jacksonstilinskis to come up with the truly transcendent asks. Because as much as you KNOW I love a paramedic (or any medical field) Jackson, I actually bought a 2020 Firefighters Holding Kittens calendar (that’s a link, I really hope it worked). So you know that’s all I’m picturing.

Whats even funnier, though, is the fact that Stiles (who would look damn good in his LAPD uniform) absolutely fucking HATE Jackson in the beginning, in a way that would go way past the typical “police vs fire” rivalry.

It would have started with an attempt at a friendly greeting, a smooth dismissal, something about a fire bug, Jackson’s offhand comments about cops and doughnuts, but that would all have been fine. It would have taken one offhand comment about Stiles’ father (”back in Beacon County? how has he not been shot yet?”) and that would have been it—Stiles would have had an enemy for life.

Their first post-hatred, on the job interaction would be at the scene of a pretty violent assault—Stiles would have the victim curled up on the front steps of her building, a shock blanket over her shoulders, sitting beside her as Scott finishes taping the area off, while Kira and her team took pictures of everything they could inside—the dents in the walls, the broken window, overturned furniture, everything.

Stiles would have called for some paramedic assistance—the girl had cuts over her palms and a pretty deep laceration on her shoulder, but it was nothing compared to the corpse in the living room. He would be doing his best to try and comfort her, but there was no easy way to say “hey, it’s okay, I’m a great shot, so your abusive husband didn’t suffer when I blew his brains out!”.

Fire would have been on scene before any ambulance or paramedics, which made sense—they were all trained in first aid anyway—and Stiles would have felt his heart fucking sink when Whittemore stepped out of the truck, because the last thing he needed was this asshole with a jaw made of marble and a heart made of coal fucking with this poor girl.

But then Whittemore is crouched down, and he’s speaking slowly to her, softly, and suddenly she’s letting him stitch up her arm, and Stiles is almost dizzy with how quick things have snapped around.

So Whittemore could be nice to civilians. That was.... decent of him.

Their next on the job interaction isn’t on the job at all, which is almost funny. Stiles walks into the bank in his civvies and gets in line behind a very, very nice ass.

It’s wiggling, for fucks sake, as the owner moves his hips ever so slightly to whatever music is playing through a white pair of earbuds. Stiles allows himself all of three minutes to stare before he realizes that that ass is attached to a nearly perfect V of a gorgeous torso... clad in an LAFD tee shirt.

All beneath a blond, cropped haircut, that—unfortunately—Stiles would recognize anywhere.

Stiles isn’t sure what he hates more—the fact that he’s been blatantly ogling a fireman, or the fact that he was ogling Whittemore, for fucks sake—but, thankfully (unfortunately?) his attention doesn’t linger for long.

At the front of the line, there’s a man standing in a dark coat and jeans, rolling on the balls of his feet—and if the anxious motions weren’t enough to give him away, the panicked smile on the tellers face was enough to set him on high alert.

Sure enough, he only had a half minute to wait before there was a flash of metal, and he pushed back from his heels as he let out a shout. The distraction worked, thankfully—the would-be robber spun on his heel, the teller dove beneath the counter, and Stiles had his arms around Whittemore’s shoulders, throwing him to the floor as a bullet rang out above them.

His heel may have dug into the firemans leg as he sprung forward, but he’d apologize for that later—his shoulder connected with the mans abdomen and they were both down on the ground in a tussle of arms and legs, Stiles gripping at his wrist, forcing him to unload the gun into the marble flooring of the bank.

It felt like the struggle lasted an hour, but in less than a second Stiles had the man pinned, gun knocked far from his hand, and Whittemore—fucking finally—had his earbuds out, speaking in rapid fire tones to what Stiles assumed was the local Los Angeles dispatchers.

The good news, no one was hurt. That was the only good news, he decided, as he started to take stock of things when the on-duty officers took over the scene.

The bad news, it was Stiles day off, and now he had about a ton of paperwork to fill out. He fucking hated paperwork.

Plus his arm hurt.

Plus, he was still mad at himself for spending a chunk of his morning staring at Whittemore’s ass.

So, needless to say, when he felt eyes drilling into his head, he didn’t have the most pleased expression on his face as he turned.

Whittemore was smirking at him from across the room, eyes dragging over Stiles now-rumpled form, and somehow that made Stiles even more grumpy.

Somehow, knowing that the fire fighting dickwad was checking him out after taking down an armed robber did little to boost his mood.

Their third encounter was somehow the most dangerous.

Which was ironic, considering their last encounter had involved a fully loaded gun fired at them.

Stiles, being the great person that he was, had offered to switch duties with Scott for a week so Scott could spend time with Allison (in all reality, he did anything that he could in order to get Scott to shut the fuck up about his perfect love life).

No good deed went unpunished, though, because Stiles was now stuck on evidence duty.

No good deed definitely went unpunished, because less than twenty minutes after he logged “attache case, locked, recovered from Union Station” and he had slid it on the shelf next to “axe, bloody” and “Argent, bank records” when the case started to smoke.

The evidence hall was cramped—it was this tiny, narrow space, full of clothing, papers, baggage, weapons, and it didn’t take long for a huge portion of it to go up in flame. Stiles, bless his heart, was a fucking idiot, because immediately threw himself over the smoking suitcase to try and save some of the evidence in the shelving behind it. The Argent dossier had taken he and his team months to fully compile, and while most of the data was backed up on several servers brought the district, these bank records were the latchkey to the entire case—and he would be damned if a suddenly incendiary briefcase took that work away from them.

Stiles was almost thankful when he heard the fire alarm go off... and was less thankful when he beat the flame off of a folder of paper, kicked open the door to the bullpen, and—

—immediately came face to flame with a wall of fire.

It was probably foolish to assume that his own little firebox was the only incendiary device left in the building—anyone desperate enough to burn some evidence certainly wouldn’t leave it all to one briefcase—and he would have been really upset with himself if he wasn’t launched straight into panic.

Shoving the file into his shirt, he threw himself to the floor, ducking low beneath the smoke that was quickly filling the floor. He could go for one of the extinguishers along the far wall of the building, but new fires were popping up everywhere he looked—through the vents in the floor, from a desk in the pen, and Stiles could already feel his lungs heavy with smoke as he made his way to a stairwell.

The handle was hot, but the stairs were his only option—and he tried to keep himself as low as he could as the smoke pooled into the stairwell, his chest tightening as he suppressed a coughing fit.

As he descended the first flight, he only had a moment to be thankful that he had switched shifts with Scott—with his asthma, Scott would have been unconscious five minutes ago... and wasn’t that a terrifying thought.

Not that Stiles was faring much better. He was less than halfway down to the main floor when his head started to swim, smoke clinging to his clothing and soot singed to his flesh. He had tears streaming down his face as he finally burst through the main floor door, and was thankful that he was already crawling on the ground, because he couldn't have stood if he tried.

Even crawling was hard.

His eyes were completely blurred, burning, and he still had two rooms and the main hall to go through before he was home free, and he didn’t even know if he could make it to the doorframe, and suddenly, his body was swung into the air, a pair of arms tight beneath his knees, moving incredibly fast—seriously, what the fuck—out of the building.

He clung to what felt like a brick wall, somehow knowing exactly who was beneath the helmet, coat, respirator, mask, and other loads of gear. He was honestly thankful that Whittemore was wearing so many layers, because as soon as they hit the cool air, Stiles took a huge, greedy breath in, and immediately retched. His lips were stained with soot and bile as he tried to prop himself up, the world swimming in and out of focus as he was unceremoniously dropped down onto a gurney, an oxygen mask fitted over his face.

By the time the world was clear again, Stiles had some soot cleaned off of his arm where an IV was stuck into his arm, he was gulping down oxygen like it was going out of style, and if he hadn’t just come dangerously close to being a human marshmallow he would have laughed when he finally found Jackson in the crowd.

He was standing at attention, looking as perfect as ever, but had an expression that was very alike to a kicked puppy—standing stock straight as his fire chief (a truly terrifying man named Hale) shouted at him. Stiles couldn’t be too upset, really—Jackson had just saved his life, after all (and huh, when had Whittemore become Jackson?), but his lungs were still charred and his chest was too heavy to laugh.

His chest was really, heavy, actually.

And just like that, the files stuffed into his shirts burst forth into his mind.

The poor medic (a beautiful man with beautiful dimples that Stiles would have been flirting with, helplessly, if he could catch his breath) probably thought he was having a seizure as he started smacking him in the arm, but thankfully the desperation in his eyes must have translated universally, because Danny (even his name was cute) was waving Jackson, Hale, and Stiles�� captain over.

Seriously, Lydia managed to look beautiful, even in her pajamas, her captain’s badge draped on a chain around her neck. She was the first to yell at Stiles for trying to take his mask off—with Jackson right behind her—but thankfully, they all shut up once Stiles slapped the folder from his shirt into her hands, the red “ARGENT” across the charred manilla getting everyone’s attention.

The last thing that Stiles sees is Lydia’s shocked expression, Hale’s muted fury, and... Jacksons cool, grey eyes.

Except they’re electric blue.

Blue?

He passes out.

When Stiles regains consciousness in the hospital, Jackson is there. Jackson asks why Stiles saved that file in particular, and Stiles fires back, asking what the fuck was going on with Jackson’s eyes, and they’re both silent for the rest of the night as Stiles swims back in and out of sleep.

Stiles is immediately pulled off the case, and put onto desk work, stuck at the 43rd Precinct while their building is getting cleared by the fire marshal.

The plus side—the only plus side—is that Jackson hovers. If he didn’t know any better, he might have suspected foul play—Stiles was the only officer reassigned to the 43rd, which happened to be painfully close to Jackson’s fire house.

Weirdly enough, he wasn’t complaining.

Jackson keeps dancing around him, giving him exaggerated looks, like he thinks Stiles is in on some big secret, and Stiles normally would have been absolutely livid about it—but somehow, Jackson makes it adorable.

Subtlety may not usually be Stiles’ strong point, but he can make it work when he needs to, and his interactions with Jackson proved that. Hale was a good topic, he learns—Jackson lights up when Stiles asks how his team is doing, and brings in lunch for them both the next day. Stiles takes note.

Work is a good topic. Stiles mentions that they caught a mole—a janitor named Daehler, who was caught on camera planting a few of the firebombs in their building, and had financial ties to Argent out the asshole. They’re finally, finally moving to prosecute—and Jackson looks like he’s so happy he could cry, even though Jackson really has no... reason to be.

At least, not that Stiles knows.

He’s still watching, processing paperwork, and he’s proud of his detective work, okay? So he’s almost embarrassed when he’s totally blindsided by Jackson one Tuesday afternoon.

“Stiles, what are you doing on Saturday the 28th?”

“Hmm? Nothing, Lyds gave me weekends off—”

“You know she hates it when you call her Lyds.”

“—to make up for taking me off the case. Why?”

“I want to invite you to the Firemen's Ball.”

“You—what?”

Holy fuck, was Jackson actually asking him out?

“The Fireman's Ball.” Jackson says, slower, rolling his eyes like he was explaining it to a child. “Chief Hale wants you there, as a guest.”

Stiles feels his heart slow a little, his face flushing red, the embarrassment of his immediate assumption just an afterthought in the next few seconds. “Oh, uh, sure, I can do that. You know inter departmental unity and all. Sounds fun!” he said, forcing a smile, and Jackson just grinned back at him lazily. Stiles distracted himself by taking a far too big bite of the sandwiches Jackson had brought up for lunch.

Fucker.

“Good.” Jackson said, still wearing the same shit eating grin. He stood and swung his coat over his shoulder—free of soot, Stiles was pleased to note (and hated how happy he was)—and started walking backwards out of the precinct. “And for the record, if Chief didn’t ask me to ask you, I would have asked you myself. Just so you know.” he said, winking as he turned and pushed through the door, leaving Stiles to choke on his sandwich.

He actually winked.

Fucker.

Decked out in his dress blues, pins and insignia tacked proudly to his chest, Stiles was actually a little proud of himself for feeling so proud, even as he parked his cruiser in-between several fire and rescue SUV’s.

He looked damn fine in his dress uniform, if he did say so himself, and Lydia had helped him style his hair and even talked him into a neutral lip and a darker brow (she was more excited than he was, and she wasn’t even going). Point is, he looked damned good, and felt a small thrill of excitement when Jackson met him at the entrance to the hall.

“Hang on, we... we can’t go in yet, I have to wait for.... Stilinski, you look amazing.” Jackson almost purred, and Stiles felt pride pool in his belly—and no small amount of arousal—as he did a quick turn, letting Jackson take in every angle. The low thrill only grew when Jackson offered him his arm, checking his watch as Stiles slipped his arm into Jackson’s own, letting Jackson push the door open for them... and apparently, right in the middle of a speech, because—

“...thanks to his brave work, putting the people before his own wellbeing, we now have a family of serial arsonists behind bars. Give it up for our guest of honor, Detective Mieczysław Stilinski!”

And then people were clapping, and Stiles was honestly too shocked to move—thankfully, Jackson was beaming bright enough for the both of them steering Stiles effortlessly across the floor.

“Breathe, dipshit.”

Stiles sucked in a breath as Jackson guided them to their seats, which was VERY near the front of the hall, a nervous smile finally making its way onto his face as Jackson pulled out a chair for him.

“I didn’t tell you because I didn’t think you would come—” which, fair point, “—and you don't have to give a speech or anything—” another very fair point, “—and the Chief and the Argents have had bad blood since one of them burned Derek’s family alive in his childhood home, so he wanted to express his gratitude.”

Which... holy fuck. Stiles did his best to keep his expression under control as his eyes snapped to Derek, but he must have failed, because Derek’s press-smile slipped into one of actual gratitude, tilting his head as he rose a drink in Stiles’ direction.

The night went by in a blur. Jackson introduced him to the rest of his company, Stiles got a very fancy piece of glass with his name on it (spelled correctly, even!), the dinner was superb. He told some of his better work stories, including the one where he and Jackson had almost been involved in a bank robbery—and pretended he didn’t love the feeling of Jackson squeezing his arm at the table while he laughed.

Eventually, the night died down, until it was just Jackson’s company left, crowded around the last set table in the hallway, laughing and cheering as they swapped stories and compared scars (a busty firefighter named Erica was, by far, the champion there, with a wickedly impressive burn on full display in a gorgeous, backless dress).

At some point in the evening, Derek had joined them at the table, laughing along with everyone else as he sat. When he stood, though, the rest of them immediately quieted down—it was like a switch had been flipped—and Stiles felt that laser like focus aimed to him when Derek caught his eyes.

“Stiles...” and god, what a relief that it had taken next to no time to talk them all out of calling him Mieczysław, fucking seriously. “... I know that this was all... a little unexpected for you, but I want to thank you personally, for how well you are doing with all of this.” he said, gesturing to the table at large, and Jackson was fucking preening next to him, even as Stiles was a bit clueless. After all, it was just a dinner, right?

He waved Derek’s thanks aside, smiling himself, feeling a little more comfortable as he shrugged it off. “I don’t need thanks, you know that. Any good person would have acted the same. The only hardship for me has been hanging out with Jackson.” he said offhandedly, and Derek laughed again, even as Jackson pouted.

“You’re modest, and that’s okay. But still—it only seems right that given the circumstances, we show our gratitude. Stiles...” and suddenly Derek’s gaze was almost hypnotic, burning into him. “...we wanted to give you the opportunity to join us. It’s rare we find someone so worthy so quickly, and it would be an absolute honor to have you.” he said, and something.... felt off.

He loved being a cop. He always loved being a cop—and while he couldn’t certainly understand the appeal of being a firefighter, he would never leave his precinct. Not willingly, at least. He stumbled over his words when he tried to explain this to Derek—well, more to Jackson, really, but the look of confused humor on Jackson’s face was not the expected result.

“Stilinski...” he started, in the same tone he used whenever he was describing an incredibly simple task to a brick-brained Stiles over lunch, “...we’re not asking you to become a firefighter. We’re asking you if you want to be able to join... us.” he said, and Stiles would have been frustrated if he didn’t give him a slow blink, his eyes suddenly an electric blue once again.

Uh.

“Jackson...”

Stiles turned away, trying to confirm what he was seeing—and Erica stared back at him with golden eyes. And she wasn’t the only one. There were a few more golds, a few more blue, and Derek, with burning, intense red eyes.

“What the fuck is going on?”

—

Werewolves.

Derek had immediately pulled him aside, out of the main hall, and Jackson was close behind. He had explained everything—or, “as much as he could”, when they were safely away from any hall staff, and Stiles felt his head swimming with new information.

Fucking werewolves.

And, apparently, hunters. And kanimas. And magic, and rituals, and more than Stiles could even begin to process.

And then Derek said he would give them some time to talk, and just... left them.

Jackson, for his credit, looked like a kicked puppy. He had explained that he thought Stiles knew from the very beginning, and just hadn’t bothered to confirm it—they were usually in public, around sensitive ears and prying eyes, and Jackson thought he had confirmed it all as well as he could nonverbally.

He was still a wreck, though, and Stiles decided to finally just head that off at the pass.

“Jackson, if you apologize again, I’m going to punch you in the face.” he said, and Jackson’s—still blue—eyes widened in surprise. “So you’re a werewolf. I can... work with that. All in all, this is not the worst first date I’ve been on.” he said as he kept pacing, and Jackson’s jaw dropped.

Stiles had been trying to go for levity, but as Jackson stared at him, he felt his own nerves start to bubble up. “Well, if you don't want, I mean—”

“Stiles, this is our third date.”

“What?”

“First date was when you moved me out of the way of a fucking bullet, which I now realize you didn’t know I would heal from immediately. Second date... well, pick any of the lunches I brought for you, even though I now realize you didn’t know I was kind of... providing for you. This is the third date. At least. Maybe fourth.”

It was Stiles turn to gape, and he did his best to ignore the fluttering in his stomach. He took a steadying breath and slouched down next to where Jackson was sitting on the floor.

“Look, we still have a lot to talk about. Like, for one, I’m going to be keeping my humanity” Stile started, and that was the understatement of the century. “...but, if this is our third date, does that mean you're finally going to kiss me goodnight?” he asks, and Jackson laughs, letting his hand tangle with Stiles as they sit on the floor.

When they finally rejoin the rest of the team, Derek looks cautious around him, but Stiles doesn’t care. They’re probably going to have to have their own long talk later, but for the moment, Jackson is smiling at him, and that’s all that he cares about.

(When they walk back to Stiles’ cruiser, Jackson kisses him goodnight.

With tongue. And fangs.

Everything really was going to be alright.)

Title: Appeal to Logic

Summary: /Jikook/ Two-shot/ Canon/ Where Jimin tries to convince Yoongi why he was positive Jungkook likes him and Yoongi asks him, “What would you do with that information?”

Indeed, Jimin wonders what the point was to all this.

Notes: I wanted to post on Valentine’s but I guess my calendar is ten days late hhhhh Anyway, I lurk a lot in Jikook tags (like I’m here everyday) and I’ve read long discourses regarding the legitimacy of their relationship. I thought it’d be interesting if one of them begins to share his proofs too and joins the hot pot of convo his own way. TLDR; enter this fic lol I promise it won’t be 20 chapters this time.

Chapter 1: Points Were Made

It was an on and off thing.

Like a passion project that you know you just would figure how to complete someday but needed time because life would get in the way.

Today though marked the moment Park Jimin was ready to lay out his cards and tell someone that definitely… maybe… with a little more sprinkle of confidence that --

“Hyung, I think Jungkook likes me.”

There was silence in Min Yoongi’s room when the statement was pronounced. It made Jimin squirm on his seat as he tried to understand the non-committal stare directed at him, right behind the bond paper that held Jimin’s scribbled notes for lyrics.

Ah, that was right.

His initial purpose was to hear Yoongi’s feedback on a thing he'd been working on. Somewhere along the way, his thoughts drifted to another which inevitably led to his bold declaration of Jungkook’s far from familial, alleged infatuation for him.

Yoongi reached out to his left where his mug of coffee sat.

“I don't know what you want me to say. Of course, Jungkook likes you.”

Jimin frowned, wrapping his head around how he should explain himself. “No, hyung. I mean Jungkook likes me.”

Yoongi’s mouth was slightly gaped and his eyes were blank. His hyung looked lost while he attempted to blink his confusion away.

Well, his observations go way way back, two years worth of evidence. Right in the hallway of their home, an evening in October.

“Jungkook treats me differently,” he told Yoongi, legs crossed and under him as he put up a finger and discussed his first point.

It wasn't as if it was only him who questioned it. Jungkook only gave Jimin a birthday present in the span of the past years, no one else and that got to mean something.

They were all tired from shoot that most of them were tempted not to shower. Hoseok was pushing him around and urging him to a quick bath before lying on his bed because that was what Hoseok was. He liked things clean and perfect and that same rule applied for his roommate. But then Jeon Jungkook, his beloved dongsaeng, appeared out of nowhere and blocked him from his merry way to the bathroom. A little awkwardly might he add because he stood there, hand fiddling with his fringes and eyes searching the floor in trepidation. At that point, both Jimin and Hoseok unlatched themselves from each other's grip to attend to the youngest who seemed to need some attention.

To his surprise, and perhaps his hyung’s too, Jungkook held out his hand and shoved Jimin a paper bag. Hoseok curiously peeked from his shoulder as Jimin tried to open it while muttering, “What's this?”

Jungkook answered with a shrug and he waited. He waited there and watched Jimin opened his present.

It wasn't even anything grand. In this stage of their career, they were just beginning to gain traction from their first win and as Namjoon had put it, at breakeven, to finally enjoy the fruits of their hard labor. Knowing how their earnings were distributed based on performance and royalty fees, Jimin was pretty sure Jungkook received the same profit he did. To be honest, it wasn't exactly much. The only difference was that Jimin was prone to lavish it on people while Jungkook would save it for practical and grander things.

The practical, grander things in Jungkook’s head was Jimin. Bought him a sweatshirt which costed around 44,000 krw. Jimin researched the price because he was curious how much the maknae was willing to spend on him.

No greeting cards. Not a high end brand. Just plain white paper bag from the department store where he bought his first gift for a Bangtan member.

Needless to say, Jimin was ecstatic and made sure to rub it on everyone's face.

“Jimin-ah,” Yoongi tried to interrupt him but he shushed the older with an afterthought.

“It wasn't the gift that's strange. Jungkook's face was really weird when I thanked him.”

Jimin knew Jungkook well enough to know when he was happy. Whatever gratefulness he saw on Jimin’s face translated on how satisfied Jungkook was on what he did. There was a sense of pride and innocent glee in Jungkook’s eyes similar to the way they would twinkle when he was offered cheesecake or lamb skewers. It was odd how he was comparing himself to food but Yoongi would probably understand the reference. He would bring Jungkook to lamb skewers so often that the maknae even vowed to stay with him forever if he would agree to become business partners.

That was beside the point.

Back then, Jimin thought he was onto something but the idea didn't linger because it was indeed a special occasion. Jungkook was a good dongsaeng and treated his hyung well even outside their birthdays so, on a second thought, it wasn't really much of an evidence.

The hand that held Jimin’s lyrics now dangled limply over the office chair’s armrest.

“Jimin-ah, just get to the point.”

Jimin pursed his lips. As far as he was concerned, he was straightforward from the get-go. He thought Jungkook likes him and he stated the fact right on, now presenting his evidence.

“Number two,” he said after lifting another finger. Perhaps Yoongi wanted him to speed things up and he should. He certainly didn't have all day with their comeback looming around the corner. “Jungkook thinks I'm beautiful.”

Yoongi’s confusion had more color to it this time. Beyond his blinking eyes that questioned where this conversation was headed, his brows met when he spoke, “Should this really be coming out of your own mouth?”

“It didn't come from me. Jungkook told me,” he replied, voice defensive.

“Jungkook thinks you're cute. But so do I. Might as well tell me that all members like you.”

“No,” Jimin answered, tucking his arm in and across his chest. His eyes narrowed, teeth worrying his lips, trying to recall the exact moment that prompted him to ask the youngest. “Ah, that's right,” he muttered when the epiphany came. He searched his pockets for his phone and scrolled through countless and countless of albums of selcas and videos of him with Bangtan.

It was somewhere in there.

“Hyung… this,” he finally said after almost five minutes of sifting through his files.

Yoongi’s back was facing him after he stopped talking to look for his proof. He really should've prepared it beforehand. Now his hyung seemed to have completely lost his interest. He was typically patient to listen, but Jimin interrupted him when he was in the midst of editing a melody submission.

Though Yoongi said it was fine. Jimin would be his breath of fresh air because the team would so rarely go out during crucial period right before their comeback. He knew better not to push the limit but it was tempting and he needed someone to listen to him.

He pulled the bean bag next to his hyung’s leg, lifted his phone so that Yoongi would be able to see what he was referencing to.

His hair was pink, the clip a mere six- seconder. He was staring at the camera, trying to appeal to ARMY. He needed it. There was this greedy part of him that wanted to know how they would react to his flirting. Tell people, ‘Hey, Jimin is right here and this is how he looks right now. His hair changed.’ That kind of drill right before their comeback and their response would in a way boost his confidence. A conscious tactic to keep his fans interested in him perhaps?

“What do you think?”

Yoongi made a face and pulled back to a cringe as he'd expected. Highly likely, he would've done the same thing if any other member showed him a video of themselves. So he merely nodded in agreement. Bangtan wasn't the audience for this video. ARMY was.

“Do you know how Jungkookie reacted when I showed this to him?”

Yoongi sighed. “Would I want to know?”

“He replayed it, hyung,” he said as a matter-of-factly. “He told me I should post it because our fans would love it. Which I did, if you remember.”

“I don't,” Yoongi admitted and turned his chair so that he was facing Jimin, a leg over the other while he waited for him to continue.

“I posted it on Twitter and do you know who posted afterwards?”

“Jungkook?”

It wasn't a wild guess.

“Yeah,” Jimin confirmed the obvious. “After 10 minutes, he posted something and you know what it said?”

No response.

“He posted a song.”

The title was right on the hashtag #ILYSB by Lany.

When it came to music that wasn't in their own language, Jimin would seldom take efforts to find translation. So long as he understood bits and pieces of what little English he knew, he could work around it. Namjoon said to be careful of listening to artists that might cause uproar by association, so he would still have to check it out if he'd want to share it with the fans. But for as much as he believed that lyricism was a key ingredient to any good music, Jimin preferred to feel rather than completely understand and analyze. That job was for their leader.

However, he decided that he wanted to fathom the youngest’s thoughts that night.

The noob part of him thought the title was some secret internet code popular in the west so he searched naver only to be greeted by a simple yet telling I love you so bad. His mouth formed an ‘oh’ when he realized that it might've been an intense confession. It invariably piqued his curious mind so that later he would be listening on loop to… and you need to know that I'm hella obsessed with your face.

“You're reading into it too much,” Yoongi told him with a shake of his head as he reached again for his coffee. “I'm not one to judge who you want to date, but think how this appears to other people.” Yoongi paused, seemingly debating what he should and shouldn't say next. “Jimin-ah, a lot could happen in ten minutes. Like you, Jungkook might be sending that message to the fans. Namjoon recommends a lot of songs. It wouldn't be about us.”

“I know, so I asked him directly.”

Yoongi almost spat his drink on him. He tapped his chest as he drowned out his cough to reaffirm. “Ya, you what?”

“I asked him if the lyrics were about me.”

“And?”

“He laughed,” Jimin confessed.

Truth be told, his ego was slightly hurt to see Jungkook’s initial response to his question. He was serious about it because he was just about more than a quarter sure about his theory. It didn't feel good to have this kid finding amusement to something he pored over. He could've just said ‘no’ outrightly and Jimin wouldn't have minded.

Jungkook’s laughter died down when he saw Jimin’s expression transform and he was reaching out for his hand in apology before he knew it.

Jimin let him hold him.

“It was…” he almost sounded uncertain. “Hyung, why are you being like this?” Sounded almost helpless and then relenting, “Yeah, it was about you. I was nervous so I laughed.” Instinctively, his free hand reached for his fringes like the night of Jimin’s birthday.

When he saw the younger fidget, Jimin felt relieved. Ah, he still knew Jungkook better than anyone. Mindful to see every little shift in the air, Jimin wasn't wrong in reading the situation.

He ruffled Jungkook's head and returned the wide staring with his own curled eyes in amusement. “I knew it,” mumbled to himself and turned once he got the confirmation that he wanted.

“You just left?” Yoongi asked him, tone surprised that it nudged some bafflement at the back of Jimin’s head.

He bobbed his head yes because, well, what else was he supposed to do? He already proved he was right. Yoongi hadn't even heard the rest of his evidences yet.

“Three,” he said to share what was left in his folder.

“Stop,” Yoongi said, planting a foot on Jimin's thigh to emphasize the urgency of his demand.

Jimin slapped the foot away and dusted off his pants.

“Do you even like Jungkook?”

He tilted his head sideways. “Of course,” Jimin answered simply, wondering why it was even a question in the first place. He liked Jungkook. Jungkook was and still is his favorite dongsaeng and BTS member. He'd take care of him even if he grew his muscles and grew taller than him.

Yoongi shook his head. “I don't think we're talking about the same thing.”

“For the third one… ” Jimin took in the opportunity of minute lag on Yoongi’s response to divert the conversation back to the task at hand. He really didn't understand what Yoongi meant but better to finish this off before his momentum dried and faltered.

He picked up his phone again and browsed through his apps. It was quite a long memory lane down Vapp’s timeline until he found the correct reference. He slid the video right on the important moment, him in his bathrobe with Taehyung’s voice singing in the background. The camera was on with Jungkook in his white shirt’s glory, sitting for all ARMY to see.

“That's right… Jimin-hyung is bad at playing games,” Jungkook said to echo his claim.

Back then, the staff berated them silently to turn off vapp. Jungkook was too loud. Jimin wasn't kidding when he said he was hearing him across the hallway. They were only given five hours to eat, take a bath, and nap before they reconvene for post-con review and plan out the adjustments in their set list but this kid chose to do an hour of live for the fans.

Jimin was out his room because Sungdeuk wanted to talk to Hoseok. They needed to work on spacing for Not Today. Their hyung thought they didn't maximize the stage well enough and he was also keen to give feedback on blockings for medley so they could properly execute group choreography for Bultaoreune.

Hoseok was too tired to get up his bed so he texted Jimin if he could get the notes in his place. Which Jimin was happy to do. He loved the fact that Hoseok trusted him and it gave him a sense of pride.

He and Sungdeuk were just about done talking when the older guy stopped him from his tracks by grabbing his arm.

“Can you tell Jungkook to tone it down a little? I heard he opened vapp but everyone's tired.”

Jimin honestly didn't want to deal with it. He was wearing his bathrobe without any make-up and only rushed out in the middle of his evening skin care routine because he wanted to be a useful dongsaeng to Hosoek and let him have an early rest. If he so much as spoke, audible for fans to hear, people were going to ask and he'd have to show himself on camera. Jeon Jungkook, really this kid should know when to stop.

“You know Jungkook listens to you well.”

Jimin jutted out his lower lip, “He doesn't.”

He could already imagine the maknae turning the volume up further for the sake of raising his hackles. Sungdeuk knew this but he was asking Jimin to do it because he knew Jimin couldn't say no when it came to Jungkook.

“Alright, alright,” he said, bobbing his head weakly and dragging his feet towards Jungkook’s room.

Across the end of the floor, he saw Taehyung towing right behind their leader who whispered him something. It made his friend glance at his direction and the next thing he knew, Namjoon was off his room and Taehyung was walking the opposite direction.

Taehyung got hold up by Sungdeuk who was midway his own room and right then, Jimin pressed on Jungkook’s room’s bell and twisted the knob open.

“I heard you from the neighboring room. Let me sleep,” he said, trying to keep his tone annoyed and nagging even when Jungkook was beaming at him so widely. “Stop singing in the middle of the night. Go to sleep.”

“You're losing me here, Jimin-ah. This is just you trying to discipline Jungkook. I would've scolded him the same.”

“Hyung,” Jimin replied sternly, eyes determined and a hand squeezing Yoongi’s thigh. “Did you watch it? Jungkook wanted my attention.”

Yoongi leaned back on his chair, challenging.

“Well, it wasn't even about that.”

His proof went beyond Jungkook's childish yet so endearing attempts to make Jimin come back and join his live. He slid the video right back to the moment and handed his phone in Yoongi’s hand.

When he crashed Jungkook's live that evening, Jimin had every intention to make an impression. After how people disregarded his precious, scant hours of work reprieve, he believed he deserved the screen time. It was tempting to test the waters to say the least. Not just with Jungkook. He wasn't dumb, well aware of his effect when he tried to appeal to someone.

“I don't know why you go to those lengths. They like you already,” Yoongi interrupted him mid-explanation, referencing to their fans. “What's more to prove?”

Jimin wondered to himself why but decided against it. “That's not the point, hyung,” he offered, not wanting to divert from the case at hand. They could ramble on about his insecurities later.

After confiscating the speaker that agitated Namjoon down to coordi noona who just finished fixing damaged buttons of their Blood, Sweat and Tears stage costumes, he went back in Jungkook’s room to greet their fans. A hand comb through his blond hair, cute sounds, zoom the bare face closer to the camera when he knew he just applied mask so he'd look good.

More important than that though was to stare at someone far longer than what was necessary that he’d be conscious to repay the attention. So he did what he knew would work, lure Jungkook's eyes to him and whisper. Mumble because that required someone to pay better heed and read his lips.

“That's not right, I was good at playing games a year ago.”

Then Jungkook would nod absentmindedly and whip his head towards his direction as Taehyung sang Chandelier in the background. Jimin wouldn't say it was the perfect song for the moment but it was good to have a song. Cause Jimin was aware they were recorded. He could go back to this, a song would help with epiphany and drama.

“What do you think?” he asked Yoongi who was squinting at his phone. Doubtful but probably a lot more convinced than he was five minutes ago. “I can be convincing if I want to.” He extended an arm to retrieve his phone.

He fell forward when his hyung suddenly pulled back to keep the small device out of reach. “I don't know if you're being serious about this.”

Jimin titled his head. “I am,” he said. “I am serious. Jungkook really likes me.”

He wasn't unreasonable. The kid had a habit of staring when someone would talk. He observed these things, sometimes obsessively, because it helped him understand the maknae better. So he knew why Jungkook would do it. He found it difficult to focus and physically directing his attention to someone would help him catch what they were trying to say better. It wouldn't be a deal then if Jimin was talking.

But when it was Namjoon who was put on spot to answer an English interview, their leader who still strove to speak a foreign language to represent the group, Jimin quite expected for Jungkook to listen… ogle.

“The korean teacher asked me a question, ‘What are the hardships of being a leader?’”

It wasn’t the first time Jungkook was caught. There was one at a fansign, then at the backstage of a music show, also during that one gayo episode and probably instances he wasn’t aware or the others he couldn’t remember. If Jimin wasn’t so busy overthinking things, he would have found it funny how Jungkook would play it cool and avert his gaze elsewhere.

“There are hardships when we take positions, specifically being a leader...”

Namjoon continued his answer in the background while Jimin thought to himself what actually goes through the maknae’s head when he would look at him. Was the need so compelling that he’d do it or was Jimin really just that. Beautiful?

“Ya, do you hear yourself?”

Jimin giggled, his head falling back to comfortably rest on the loveseat. It was funny to call himself beautiful. Even he wouldn’t be that shameless.

The point still stands though. Jungkook would stare at him, and he would call him beautiful.

“It has to mean something right?”

He wanted to confirm the motivations behind the not-so-subtle attention. However, he didn’t want to do a repeat of the last time when he confronted Jungkook about the song. It made the air between them strained and the youngest would agonize in his presence. Jimin thought he was being shy so he’d hold back.

But then what about his own curiosity?

“You’re curious, that’s it,” Yoongi said plainly. “What would you do with that information?”

Jimin pursed his lips as he thought about it.

Good point. Where was he leading with all these? He didn’t think that far enough. He wasn’t even done with his final proof.

“What do you think, hyung? What should I do about it?”

Dear 2018,

thank you, next!

I may have been doing a mini tradition with myself, a so called year-end self reflection.

Whenever I flip over my November calendar page, I can’t help but feel the rush vibrating through my body. Not the rush of Christmas shopping but the kind of rush like “where the frickin’ time go?” This pushed me to look back on the things that happened over the year.

My 2018 did not go as planned but I’m still grateful for this year. Even if I didn’t put my A game, I certainly put up a B minus. HAHAHA

The one goal I had this year was to find a new job. I thought it was easy but it wasn’t. I thought applying for a higher position outside my current office was easy because of my gained experience in my field but hell no. It was really tough out there. I thought I was good enough based from the interviews Ive had. I thought I was nailing them but no, I wasn’t. I never felt so rejected in my entire life.

Still here I am spending the last days of my 2018 not getting what I really wanted. I’m pretty bum about it. I still imagine myself getting that position I am eyeing at. I kept on asking God why. Why didn’t I get that job? Am I not good enough for that job? Why do you want me to stay in my current company? I hope I’ll find the answers soon. But 2018 was not all failures and rejections, I also had room for awesome experiences and small victories. I achieved some of my medium-term life goals. It’s not much but I’m proud for achieving mini milestones. This year, I started paying government bills for my own sakes. Getting cautions on what I eat. Taking my vitamins as prompt as possible. I’m also having lesser asthma attacks (compared to my previous record). I’m taking care (some) of the bills (barely). I also started managing my savings account. I’m paying my insurance on time. And even though I am gastosera in nature, I can stand a pretty good chance against my wants (sometimes). Betrayals and disppointments also passed by. They came as a shock that literally pulled me at my lowest. This year challenged my faith and trust on some people I have in my life. This gave me a rough time sorting out the good from the bad in me and it took a lot of courage to win over my demons. Luckily, I came through. Thank God! I’m still thankful for it woke me from a fairytale-like dream. This experience taught me so many things. It changed me and my perspective in life. I learned that people can really smash you into pieces and only you can bring yourself back again with bloody hands and a scratched heart. It may sound cliche but I must say I am stronger now. I started to accept the fact the people can grow together but they can also grow apart in this big strange world. This year opened up my eyes to things I thought (before) will never happen to me (but it did). This taught me to fight back for my happiness and to be responsible for my own happiness. I learned how to be better in what I do every single day. I learned how to take care of myself and invest on the things I feel beautiful and enough (just for myself). This wasn’t my best year really, but it brought me to far places I never thought I could be. It opened a lot of opportunities for me to meet interesting people, experience things that made me feel like invincible, blessed and humbled, see places and God’s creations that really took my breath away and discover a lot of things about myself. I realized that I am really a work in progress and time is a friend and an enemy. But it’s okay. I started to develop this mantra that everything is meant to happen at their own time at their own pace and I’m part of this beautiful process. I started to understand that life is not a race, it’s a journey. I should trust Him in every step of the way. Lastly, age is just a number (I just turned 26 recently and I went ballistic) but as day passes by I started to be calmer and little by little I’ve started to accept that everyone had to go through their own process to be able to bloom no matter what age it took them. I shouldn’t be on a rush on jumping from one life stage to another. Just trust the process and keep on swimming. It’s been a challenging year and I will keep on patting my back for I am learning and opening my self for more. Thank you, next!

Chapter IV: Work

Author’s Notes: A little reprieve, and a peek into Propmto’s personal life. Plus, a small shock, and a connection is made. Word Count: 2391 Warnings: None for this chapter. Rating: Teen for this chapter.

“We live in an age where everything is staged.”-Jon Bellion, Woke The F*ck Up

“So, listen…” Dino began, making Prompto freeze and look down at his keyboard, suddenly overwhelm with guilt. “Look, I ain’t mad at ya or anythin’, but… I gotta know, did ya manage to get any pictures? I know you were all cooped up in a hospital room an’ all but…” Dino trailed off, leaning his hip against Prompto’s desk. Dino wasn’t a really imposing man, not really, but he could be unnerving when he wanted to be. Especially with how light his eyes were. They were almost unearthly, if he were being honest.

Oh, right. Photographs.

“Yeah! Yeah, I got some- hang on…” Pushing his glasses up his nose, he quickly turned his attention to his computer, pulling up the file with a nervous grin. He hadn’t even had the time to look through the photographs yet, let alone retouch any of them. In fact, ever since his accidental meeting with Regis and then being threatened by Gladiolus, all he’d done was sleep. Then again, considering how he had still been healing, that wasn’t very shocking.

“Lemme just…” Tongue poking out from between his lips, he double clicked and brought up the first picture of the cars arriving before the Citadel. The next was a close-up shot of the bodyguard whose name he knew now to be Nyx Ulric- actually, the next few shots were of him. He could hear Dino whistling softly in surprise behind him, making him sit up straighter, pride swelling up within his chest. “Told ya I’d get them,” he teased, looking up at his boss as the next picture came up, this one of Sylva, Lunafreya, Ravus, and his fiancée, Aurora. “The girl’s name is Aurora; family’s upper class Tenebraen, fiancée to Ravus Nox Fleuret.”

“Ya did good, kid. I’m impressed. Go in and retouch some of ‘em, and then send t’me.” Dino praised with a grin, reaching down to ruffle Prompto’s hair before leaving Prompto’s office, pulling his phone out. Prompto leaned back in his chair, a bright grin on his face as he nodded to himself.

“Hell yes I did good. There ain’t a better photographer in Insomnia than me!” He whispered, doing a little dance in his chair before accidentally pushing his chair back, prompting a squeak to escape him as he spun quickly. “NONONONO- Aw, man. I just got those magazines organized!” He whined, watching as the pile fell to the floor.

“Aurora’s her name. Didn’t get much else outta him, but I’ve got pictures. That is, if you got money…”

“Don’t you worry, you’ll get your money. As soon as I have those pictures…”

“Right, right. Whattya want wit’ him anyways? He ain’t no one, not that I can tell. Family ain’t rich and he ain’t a looker…”

“Don’t worry yourself with what I want. You just send those images along to me, pet.”

“Yessir.” Dino sighed, ending the call with a frown as he pocketed his phone. He rubbed the back of his neck, looking over his shoulder at the blond. Oh, well. It wasn’t his problem. Not now, anyways. Maybe later. Maybe not. He’d decide when he got his money.

“So, then I sort of… Fumbled my words? And it was just- they were so intense, Cindy! So. Fricken. Intense.” Prompto whined, collapsing down onto the red leather couch beside the mechanic, who let out a soft laugh.

“Well, whaddya expect? They ain’t your run of the mill folk, now.” She replied with a shrug as she reached over, grabbing a container of fried rice. “But I’on want you t’go near ‘em anymore, y’hear? Vamps and shifters- they ain’t good news, Prom.” Sighing, she shrugged, reaching over Prompto’s leg to grab hold of a separate container containing lamb in black pepper sauce. “I’m jus’ tryin’ ta look out for you, you know that.”

“I know, I know…” Prompto muttered, grabbing a container of Chow Fun and dumping the contents of his own General Tsao’s Chicken and ginger beef into, quickly mixing the contents together. “But- Cindy, you wouldn’t believe the way these guys look! Like, ho my god. Noctis’ eyes are so… Pretty? And the girl- Aurora- was so nice and gentle! She even petted my head, Cindy!” He whined, leaning over to all but rest majority of his weight on the blond.

“Buddy, I ain’t gonna argue with you. They are very pretty, even I can’t deny that. But I still want you t’be careful.” Sighing, she leaned over and pressed a kiss to his temple, making Prompto freeze up, cheeks flushing as he quickly sat up and reached for the remote. “Oh, oh! My favorite show is on! Amber’s Anatomy!” She squealed, hunkering down into the couch with a bright grin. “I wanna know if Amber White is gonna go with McDreary or if she gonna leave him behind!”

“I have no idea what you just said but okay,” Prompto shrugged, stuffing his face with noodles and chicken and beef, groaning at the taste. Gods above, he loved takeout more than anything. Though, Galahdian takeout was far better, he’d settle for classic Insomnian. “Okay, so who’s who?”

“Okay, so, Amber is the lead character, righ’? And she’s a doctor who gets all tangled up in a messy love triangle with Doctor Terrier and this other lady, and her mother was a doctor, too! And then there’s…”

He’d ended up crashing on Cindy’s couch, Cindy falling asleep in the recliner, the sounds of Amber’s Anatomy in the background. By the time morning came, Cindy was already in the shower singing along to some old country song, and Prompto was left to throw out all their trash from the night before. They’d fallen asleep before they could manage to save any of the takeout, sadly.

Humming, he went to work cleaning, picking up the boxes and tossing them into the trash bag. The sound of the bathroom door opening made him look up, only to catch Cindy shuffling out in a bright blue, fuzzy robe, her hair hanging in damp ringlets around her face. Wow, she looked like an angel…

“Aw, shuga! You don’ gotta go an’ clean up all this by yourself!” Cindy cooed, a grin spreading across her lips as she leaned against the bathroom door. “But it is most definitely a welcome gesture.” Yawning, she made her way over to her bedroom the door falling shut behind her. “I can whip us up some grub after I get dressed!” She hollered, making Prompto pause, box of rice almost tipping over.

“Sure, sounds great!” He yelled back, going back to his job of lifting the trash bag out of the trash and tying it closed. Lifting it up with a grunt, he walked over to the trash chute and let it fall down before turning and leaning against the wall with a yawn. Normally, he’d go for a run now, but the promise of Cindy’s cooking kept him here. A skip day wouldn’t hurt, right? Right. At least, that was his reasoning.

“Now, what’re we feelin’ this mornin’? Personally, I wanna scarf down some omlettes…”

Breakfast done, kitchen cleaned, Prompto was about to head out when a knock on the door made him pause. “C’n ya get that?” Cindy called from her bedroom. “I would but I got half a face of makeup on and I don’ wanna scare no ones!” Snorting, the blond rolled his eyes and set his bag down, walking over to the front door. He looked through the peephole, only to be greeted with the sight of a red and black sweater. And a rather… Ample. Chest. Coughing, he quickly unlatched the lock and swung the door open, cornflower blue hues widening at the sight.

“Is Cindy home?” The woman asked, jade hues sizing him up. Prompto suddenly felt incredibly small compared to this woman- her piercing gaze, the silver hair that was tied up in a high pony tail, the menacing motorcycle boots… “Hey, kid. If Cindy isn’t home, just tell me instead of staring at me like you’ve never seen a woman before.”

Startling, Prompto quickly took a step back. “Ye-yeah, she’s in her room…” He trailed off, watching as the woman stepped past him with a smirk, throwing a wink in his direction. Squeaking in a rather unmanly way, he quickly shut the door and watched her poke her head into Cindy’s bedroom, prompting a squeal of delight.

“Aranea! I didn’t know you’d be in today!” Cindy exclaimed, and threw her arms around Aranea’s shoulders. Oh. Oh. So this was Cindy’s girlfriend- the motorcycle girl. The one who worked as a battlefield photographer. The one that Prompto may or may not have been extremely jealous over when he first found out that Cindy wasn’t interested in men at all. “Prompto, c’mere! I wan’ ya t’meet Aranea!” Cindy yelled, and without realizing it, he was moving towards the pair.

“Aranea, meet Prompto! He’s my buddy- I’ve known him for over six years now!” Cindy introduced with a grin, winking at Prompto. “Prompto, meet Aranea. Y’know we’ve been dating for over a year now- the light of my life.” She flushed, leaning into Aranea. “I’ve been wantin’ y’all to meet for a while now! But with Aranea’s crazy schedulin’ and yer crazy schedulin’… At least y’all getta meet now!”

Prompto shifted, flashing a small smile before holding his hand out. “Nice to meet you!” He managed to get out before Aranea took hold of his hand in a strong grip.

“Like wise.” She replied in a smooth voice that sent chills across his skin. Something seemed… Familiar about her. He couldn’t place it, though. Oh, well. It wasn’t important. “Anyway, I was in the neighborhood and thought I’d drop by to see my favorite girl.” She explained, leaning over to peck Cindy’s cheek.

Clearing his throat, Prompto rubbed the back of his head and began backing away. “I’ll just leave you guys alone…” With that, he quickly grabbed his bag and quickly left the apartment, the sound of Cindy hollering ‘bye’ echoing in the hallway. He couldn’t shake the feeling of familiarity from his conscience- that woman, Aranea… He knew he had seen her before. Her voice, her eyes… They were so familiar.

Maybe he was just imagining things. Maybe he’d seen her in a crowd once, or maybe at a party. Yeah, that was it.

… Hopefully.

The rest of his day was uneventful, what with it being Saturday and all, he hadn’t needed to go into work. Though, he could have spent it going through all the pictures he’d taken before the accident, but… Nah. Instead, he’d gone out and treated himself to a sushi dinner, making sure to stop by the market on the way home to pick up food for breakfast (and some spare fish for the cats at the apartment complex).

Being home now, with Insolo curled up against him, was comforting. To be surrounded with familiarity. He was warm, and comfortable, and his bed was comfortable and the rain hitting against the glass of his window was perfect…

He fell asleep.

Or, at least, he thought he was asleep. But he was… Outside? And there was snow on the ground, and all around him. This wasn’t the park- or, well, anywhere he was familiar with. At least, not personally. Was this Niflheim? The layout looked the same form the pictures he’d seen in high school. But he wasn’t cold- shouldn’t he be cold? It was snowy, the wind was blowing- he could hear it howling.

Wait…

That wasn��t the wind.

Spinning around, he came face to face with a large black wolf, eyes as black as it’s fur. He tried to scream, but no noise came out. No noise, even as the light began to fade and the wolf began to lurk closer and closer. He fell to his knees, ready to accept his fate when a new sound ripped through the air. A cry. A baby’s cry. He pushed himself up, spinning around, looking for the wolf but not finding him. Brows furrowing, he turned, and stilled. Two babies, swaddled up, were left on a large flat stone.

He walked closer to them, snow crunching beneath his feet, a hand outstretched. But something wasn’t right- they weren’t moving. They weren’t making any noise. It wasn’t right. When he reached them, he leaned closer, and quickly moved back, eyes widening in surprise. They were babies, yes- but their throats were… Their throats were ripped out. Blood stained their blankets, and the stone around them. A growl sounded over his shoulder, making him turn. “You were never supposed to leave.” The jaws came down, closing around his throat-

Prompto jolted awake, sitting up in bed with the remnants of a yell leaving his lips. He quickly slipped from his head and ran to the bathroom, doubling over the toilet to dry heave. His heart was pounding in his chest- was he having a heart attack? Or just an anxiety attack? He didn’t know, he didn’t care. But it hurt.

Pushing up from the toilet, he stepped over to the sink and ran the tap cold, cupping the water in his hands and splashing his face with it. Looking up at his reflection, he startled, surprised at the… Lilac? Hues that stared back at him. Blinking, he leaned forward, only to see that his eyes were back to their normal blue…

Shaking his head, he shuffled back to his bed, calling Insolo back to cuddle. Maybe he was just… Sleep deprived. Yeah. That would make sense- people started to hallucinate when they were sleep deprived! That’s what was wrong.

“It’s him. I’m certain of it.” The woman spoke into the phone quietly, black coat pulled tight around her, cloaking her in the shadows. “Blond hair, blue eyes, freckles… What do you want me to do?”

“Nothing. Do nothing. Raise no suspicion. We got what we wanted.” The voice replied, sounding relieved and stressed at the same time. The woman nodded and ended the call, slipping her phone back into a pocket in her coat.

“Come back to bed,” the voice of her lover called, pulling her back into the apartment with a smile curling her lips, jade hues dancing in amusement.

Here she was again in front of the Marshal’s office. She had agreed to his dinner – date, and now was waiting for him. In fact, she would have already walked in, if it wasn’t for the voices she heard coming from inside. Ada could barely hear Cor, or make up the words in this conversation. Occasionally she could hear ‘yes’ or ‘no’ coming from the Marshal, but the other voice, which sounded like old man nagging, was doing most of the talking.

“You will never learn, Cor.” The old man opened the office door in anger, and Ada could see the old man. That was Cid, Iris had shown her his workshop. The Marshal was leaning on his desk, staring completely blank at the man.

“Bad time?” Ada waited for Cid to walk out and invited herself in.

“There doesn’t seem to be such thing as good time.” Cor looked tired, not physically but as if his mind was way too weary. “He just treats everyone as if they are twelve.”

“We can cancel tonight?” She didn’t like the thought since she spent most of her afternoon preparing mentally, but also didn’t want to be bother.

“No, I need the distraction.” He grabbed his jacket and walked with her out of the office. “We need to stop at the hotel’s kitchen, Monica has prepared something for us.”

“Monica?” suddenly she got worries that someone else knew about their so-called date. Not that it was a secret or she wanted to keep it a secret, she had already told Libertus, but the idea that Cor had told anybody just sent wave of anxiety through her spine.

“Yeah I have no mind for stuff like that. She is my friend, assistant and and brain when needed.” He opened the kitchen door for her. Ada waited for him to walk to one of the counters and picked up a big plate cover with foil. “Let’s go.”

She didn’t ask where just followed him in silence, her heart beating faster than it should.

‘What’s wrong with me, it’s just dinner.’

Cor on the other hand looked himself. Calm, not showing much emotions. Eventually he led her to the roof of the hotel, which Ada thought at some point might have been a romantic spot being allowing you to see the stars, but now the sky was dark and the only light was coming from the city below them.

“We should be undisturbed here. It’s my favourite spot when I want to think in peace.” He explained and sat on the ground. Ada followed him, her heart still trying to break a hole in her ribcage.

‘I have faced demons and remained calmer.’

He opened whatever Monica had prepared and both made disgusting sound at the same time. The dish was literary a tentacle on a plate.

“It’s probably not that bad…” Ada decided to be brave and try it, grabbing one of the forks Cor had brought. It wasn’t that bad, but if she had a choice, she would have eaten something else.

Ignoring most of the questionable dish they spent the first hour or so talking about very general stuff. Weapons, magic, demons, how were stuff in Lestallum. Nothing specific and nothing personal. Ada wanted to learn more about him, about the man he was not just what everybody knew, Cor the Immortal, but that meant she probably had to open up herself which was the real danger. There were things she wasn’t sure she could explain if she was asked about and she certainly didn’t feel like lying to him.

“Tell me something.” He started after they decided they will never again ask Monica for culinary help. “Why did you join the glaive?”

“Seemed like the right thing?” she realized that’s not much of an answer, a bit of personal information wasn’t going to hurt anyone. “My family moved out of Galahd when I was fourteen. We travelled around for couple of years until eventually we ended in Insomnia. When I was eighteen someone spotted I had talent for magic, passed the whole recruitment and basic training process and at nineteen I was one of the glaives.”

“That’s terribly young.” He sounded impressed which stroke her ego.

“You were fifteen when you joined the Crownsguard, I was old compared to you.” Ada realized she has been staring at his eyes, not just looking but staring, and damn even in the dark they were bright blue.

“I was a brat prone to mischief with no talents but the talent to kill. You on the other hand are pretty, you have a good heart and you are not stupid.”

“That’s not true.” She liked the compliment but instead of saying thank you she just deflected it. “People love you, Marshal. You served two kings and a prince, you sat with them on council meetings you led people in battle and they loved you. That’s more than just talent for killing.”

“Don’t call me Marshal, my name is Cor.” He said that almost as if he was giving her an order. “And I might have counseled two kings and a prince, but two of them are death and the last one is missing. I’m not doing a great job.”

“You are doing better than any of us.” She wanted to reach and touch him, but somehow felt too intimidated to do it. Was it even appropriate to do it? Maybe too soon?

“Do you have any family left?” he changed the topic very quickly and Ada decided not to push. Better than anyone she understood that there were things that were difficult to talk about.

“Libertus.” Ada laughed. “My mother died before we moved to Insomnia, my father shortly after I joined the glaive. I had a brother but for some reason we fell out after I joined the glaive. He also passed away, shortly after my father. The Kingsglaive became my family. Made the loss of my real family significantly easier if that even could be the right word. Libertus is the closest thing I have to a family.” On the other hand, losing the glaive had destroyed her.

“I can relate to that.” Again, no expression on his face. Ada was sure she was doing something wrong.

“Tell me something nobody knows about you Ma..Cor.” she smiled as she corrected herself.

“I’m terrible at dates.” He smiled and Ada could feel herself skipping a breath at how handsome his face was with smile on his lips. “Regis and Clarus always used to make fun of me when I would go and ask them for advice. Clarus used to say that I can master any weapon in matter of hours but cannot master that ‘feelings’ thing. Thirty years later, he is still right.”

“You asked me out, it cannot be that bad.” He sounded so different talking about the king and his shield. There was nostalgia, pain and happiness in his voice at the same time.

“I know how to ask people out, I know how to make my assistant cook terrible dinner, I have another trick or two that I still haven’t pulled out of my sleeves, but somehow it all ends as one big disappointment eventually.”

“Let me guess, you are terrible at saying what you feel and have the tendency of surprising emotions.” She said it lightly enough so it would sound partially as joke but she was serious.

“Have we met before?” and there it was, genuine smile. And what a smile! Ada wanted to smile with him, but she just couldn’t. She was looking at him and remembering what Libertus told her.

‘He is perfect.’

“It was just a guess.” Technically it wasn’t just a guess but something she could relate to now. A year ago, she wouldn’t even be able to imagine something like that for herself, now she understood what he meant. “Now I know your secret.”

“Now you need to tell me something of equal value.” Just in these past couple of minutes both of them have moved closer to each other without even realizing. If she moved an inch she could touch him.

“I don’t have anything of equal value…”

“That’s a lie.” He leaned closer towards her. “Come on, could be even some silly childish mischief.”

There were of course of number of things she could tell him, but she was worried where that might lead. She had decided that everything Luche related will be off topic tonight unless for some reason Cor led the conversation there, she didn’t need to fall in a grim mood today.

“Fine.” She decided she was going to be completely honest with him even if that was going to ruin everything. “I have been terrified about today and that’s why I told you I needed time to think. I wanted to say yes the moment you asked me out, but part of me was terrified, I have been on my own, in every sense, for a year now, and just the thought of spending time with someone and being close to someone terrified me.”

“Two people having issues with their emotions going out on a date.” He smirked. “That is like the beginning of one of these romance novels Gladio constantly reads.”

“He reads romance novels?” Ada almost shouted in surprise. “He doesn’t look the type.”

“Where do you think he gets all his pick-up lines from?” for a second Ada thought the Marshal was serious about the pick-up lines, but just looking at his eyes made her realize he was joking even if his face was still completely serious.

At that time the guards at the wall changed and both of them realized it was getting pretty late. They decided to call it a night since Cor had to go out of town in the morning and Ada still had to work on getting more power for the outposts in order to have enough for Ignis’ restaurant.

“Thank you for not being too terrified and agreeing to spend some time with me.” He gave her a warm smile which made her legs feel extremely weak.

“Thank you for making time for me, even if you are probable the busiest person in Lestallum.” She responded but in fact all she wanted was to kiss him.

“You are the prettiest thing around, I’m known to have many issues, missing my chances is not one of them.” He smirked and she realized she was lost.

‘Fuck it.’ She had to step on her toes in order to be tall enough to reach his lips, but doing that also helped her get closer to him. It wasn’t the best kiss she had ever given, it was quick, just pressing her lips against his, but it was certainly better than nothing. Once she pulled away and opened her eyes he was staring at her, and for parts of the second she thought she messed up and that it was a mistake.

Cor, however, proved her wrong very quickly, not leaving her too long to wonder what was happening.

He leaned forward and kissed her, but this time was different, one of his hands was quickly placed on her lower back and the other reached for her chin pulling it down gently to open her mouth for his tongue. He was a good kisser, she gave him that, the way his tongue caressed hers made her moan and wanting more of him.

“That one of the ticks up your sleeves?” she asked him when he pulled his mouth away for both of them to take a breath, his hand was still holding her lower back, his body leaning over her making her feel even smaller.

“That would remain a secret.” He smiled and kissed her again, making a step forward which made Ada step backwards. Then another step followed, and another one, his mouth moved to her neck, his arms wrapped around her holding her firm, almost carrying her. He finally stopped as her butt hit something, it was the desk in his office. They were both breathing heavy and looking at each other.

“You should probably close the door.” Ada finally told him realizing she wanted him right now more than anything.

Cor didn’t need more clarifications on what or how to do it. He made a very small step back, kicking the door shut and taking his jacket off at the same time. He was back to her, his hands at her ass, lifting her up and placing her on the desk. Ada ran her hands under his shirt, feeling the muscles on his back. The Marshal pulled his arms away from her for a second allowing her to pull his top, only for her to realize that wasn’t one top but three.

“How many…” but before she could finish her sentence her eyes had stopped on his body. He was perfect. She could see every muscle on his upper body, lean and clearly defined his skin was covered in scars but that was just adding to his charm. She ran her fingers down his chest, touching his abs and stopping at the belt of his pants. Has breathing heavy making it difficult for her to think about anything else but his body on top of hers. He grabbed her hand in his just as she was about to undo his belt, kissing her fingers.

“Not so fast.” He pushed her on his desk, leaning over her giving her a soft kiss on the lips but then quickly moved down. He pulled her shirt up and kissed her belly, slowly moving up, his hands touching the sides of her body while pushing her top all the way over her head. Once that was gone his lips moved to her breasts, kissing the skin just where her bra was staring. For a second she panicked, the scar over her collarbones was within his sight, and true enough he probably had seen it as soon as he pulled her shirt off, but suddenly she had to fight the urge to just push him away and cover that part of her body.

It was all forgotten very quickly as he reached behind her and undid her bra with a swift move, throwing it somewhere in his office. His kisses continued, his lips moving to her nipple. She moaned loud, arching her body toward his, feeling the hardness in his pants. Cor didn’t seem fazed by any of that, he ran his hand down her body and as skillful as he had taken her bra off, unbuttoned her pants. Ada tried to do the same for him, even if from her position was a bit harder to reach for his belt, but he just grabbed her hands and pinned them over her head.

“I said not so fast.” He whispered in her ear and placed a kiss on her neck. His fingers had already found their way in her underwear and he was very slowly started rubbing on and around her nub. He had stopped with his kisses, but his face was almost touching hers, his eyes not moving away from hers. Ada knew she could lose herself in that pale blue storm that was his gaze.

He moved one finger inside her making her bite her lower lip and pushed her lower body towards him wanting him to do more. Cor had other intentions, he was going slowly and he was so damn good at that. With every with every measured move of his hand she could feel herself getting wetter than she even thought possible, her legs wrapped around his pulling him closer wanting to feel every part of him on her skin. Cor pushed second finger in her making her moan louder. She suddenly realized they might not be alone around and attempted to pull one of her hands to silence the sounds she was making but he was still holding them firm over her head. His other hand was moving faster making her body arch and twist under him, the moans coming from her mouth were harder to control.

“Marshal…” She whispered between heavy breaths feeling herself being very close to coming.

“My name is Cor.” Just as she was sure that would be it he pulled his hand away from her making her stare at him in confusion. He let go of her hands so he could undo his belt, Ada just watched him admiring his body and subconsciously memorizing every little detail.

He might have been very slowly and patient with teasing her earlier, but he got rid of his pants and underwear with incredible speed. Soon he was on top of her again kissing her lips and slowly pushing in her.

“You are terrible tease.” She smiled between kisses, feeling his length going deeper and deeper in her.

“I just like taking my time.” As soon as he said that he pushed in her harder, making her almost scream from pleasure.

Similar to his previous actions he started very slowly, looking her in the eyes and caressing her face with his fingers. He was gentle in a way that surprised her. He had the reputation of a hard man but right now he was gentle, loving and attentive.

As he picked up the pace he moved one hand between her legs and starred rubbing where she was feeling most sensitive. Ada almost screamed feeling his fingers there, but Cor kissed her passionately, pressing his hard chest against hers.

“Cor…” she bit her lower lip trying again not to scream but he was pushing faster and harder in her and his fingers were making her lose whatever little control she had over her body. He either didn’t hear her or pretended not to, since all he did was just look at her with a very alluring grin on his lips. Her fingers were digging into the skin of his back, her legs were wrapped around his urging him to go deeper into her. Couple more minutes and she could feel familiar pleasant sensation crawling through her body, her muscles contracting in pleasure, her mind absolutely blank but for the amazing feeling between her legs.

Somewhere within that mist of pleasure she heard him saying ‘fuck’ his controlled and rhythmic moves became more erethic and spontaneous until he finally came as well, his body almost limp on top of hers, his breathing heaving.

They both stood like that for few moments. Cor was still collecting himself, Ada was lazily running her fingers through the skin of his shoulder blades.

Slowly he lifted himself up, his eyes still fixed on her.

“I can offer you a cold shower and a warm bed.” He pointed toward a door at the back which she assumed was leading to where his bedroom was.

Shower was quick and not very pleasant considering the water was freezing, but once they both dried themselves being in bed turned out to really compensate for it, Cor was lying on his back, his arm wrapped around her body, Ada’s head resting in his chest.

“Where did you got that?” the tip of his fingers traced the scar crossing her collarbones.

“A boyfriend.” She knew that question would come. It wasn’t a small scar and it has been in front of his eyes for most of the night.

“You don’t strike me as the type of girl who will let a guy do that.”

“It’s complicated.” How was she supposed to explain that? “I did try to kill him as well.”

“So, what happened?” he moved his fingers away from the scar at started caressing her shoulder.

“He…” she really didn’t want to talk about Luche, not now, but on the other hand he had to know. “He happened to be one of the glaives that betrayed the king. The glaive to start the thing, not taking the captain into consideration. He sent email to everyone pretty much saying how much he is done with the king and what he plans to do. I confronted him, we had verbal disagreement, it grew into physical disagreement. He almost killed me.”

“What happened with him.” To his credit Cor didn’t seem disturbed or angry at any of that. Part of Ada actually expected he would kick her out of his bed and Lestallum.

“I didn’t know for very long time, according to Libertus, he tried to put the ring of the king and died. I guess we all get what we deserve at the end.” Thing is she still wasn’t sure Luche got what he deserved. Sure, he betrayed the king and her, but was that worth his death. Then again Nyx certainly didn’t deserve to die either but here they were. “Your scars make far better story I guess.” She smiled, and ran a finger through one of his scars close to his abdomen, it was a viscous looking reminder of a deep wound.

“Not as much. Most of them are courtesy of Gilgamesh. Some of them I even deserved.”

Sleep had come to her shortly after and she found herself in another dream, another memory that was surly going to be ruined by her mind.

It was getting late, they were celebrating another victory and mourning their losses. Most of the Glaives had gone home with handful exceptions who were mostly sitting around the tables alone or in very small groups. Luche sat next to her, way too close. He was obviously drunk.

“Come I will take you home, you cannot drive like that.” Ada tried to pull him up but instead he gripped her arm and prevented her from getting up.

“Your hair reminds me of home” he completely ignored her and clumsily grabbed few locks between his fingers.

“You are too drunk.” She tried to get up but he leaned against her.

“You smell of home.” He insisted. “Like the sea and the woods.”

“Come on, I’m driving you home.” She finally managed to pull his limp body up. She had never seen him like that. Tipsy, yes, but never drunk to a degree where he seemed unaware of his surroundings.

“You cannot drive me home, Galahd is too far away to drive me there now.”

“The other home.” She walked him out of the building and as expected at that point her dream went crazy. They were on the street in Insomnia, she couldn’t recall which street or where in Insomnia but she could swear it was there. Luche was standing in front f her, burning.

“You should have followed me.” Even if his whole body was covered in flames, his clothes and armor melting into his skin, he didn’t seem in pain. Luche made step toward her and grabbed her wrist twisting it so hard she could hear it break, the flames started burning her and the pain was intolerable.

“Please let me go” Ada tried to pull away but he was inhumanly strong. “Luche, please, let me go.”

“You betrayed me! I thought you will follow me, but you betrayed me for what? The Marshal? We could have gone back to Galahd together!” he pulled his gun with his free hand.

“No, Luche, please..” the pain from the flames was getting too much, it was all over her arm and it was crawling toward her chest and face. “Please kill me.”

“No, you have to suffer.”

She opened her eyes, staring into the darkness. Cor’s arm was wrapped around her body and she could feel his breath on her neck. She couldn’t fall asleep again and just spent the time thinking about her dreams and would they ever leave her in peace.

How we used geographic arbitrage to pursue our dreams (and enrich our lives)

Howdy. My name is Michael Robinson. While J.D. is visiting Europe with his cousins, I volunteered to share how my wife and I have leveraged the power of geographic arbitrage to pursue our dreams and to build our wealth. Geographic arbitrage means taking advantage of the differences in prices between various locations. You earn money in a stronger economy (San Francisco, maybe, or the U.S. in general) and spend it in a weaker economy (South Dakota or Ecuador, for instance). Geographic arbitrage is a powerful tactic worth considering if you want to increase your saving rate so that you can better pursue your financial goals. Several times over the course of our lives together so far, my wife and I have managed to unwittingly stumble upon the benefits of geographic arbitrage. If you've ever chosen your vacation destination based on how strong the country's currency is opting to visit England when the pound was weak, maybe then you've practiced geographic arbitrage. Today, I'm going to share three examples of how the concept has impacted our lives and helped us to achieve financial independence at 33. I hope these examples will spark some ideas for how you might be able to leverage geographic arbitrage along your financial journey as well. About Us I met my wife Ellen in Cuernavaca, Mexico in 2004. We were both studying Spanish at the same language school. I was there to earn the last few credits I needed to complete a minor in Spanish. Ellen hoped the months of Spanish immersion would help her land a job as a bilingual elementary teacher in the Pacific Northwest. Despite Ellens intention to avoid befriending any native English-speaking gringos like me, we hit it off right away and quickly became close friends. As our months together in Mexico wound down, Ellens efforts paid off and she was hired by a bilingual elementary school in Shelton, Washington. I graduated and was offered a position as an international sales manager. Ellen and I started a long-distance relationship that summer and I moved out to Washington to join her as soon as I could.

Losing One Income Without Noticing It Our first experience with geographic arbitrage was unintentional. We didn't even realize what we were doing at the time. After Ellens first two years as a bilingual teacher, she asked her principal for a one-year leave of absence so she could return to Mexico and further improve her Spanish proficiency. Her principal agreed and we packed up and headed to Guadalajara for the 2007-2008 school year. Although we lost Ellens annual $30,000 salary, we didnt feel it much because our cost of living was considerably lower during that year in Mexico. Our apartments in Washington had each cost us $800-$900 per month. In Mexico, we were able to find a suitable apartment to share for around $400 per month. Groceries and other goods and services were all also considerably cheaper. Geographic arbitrage allowed us to maintain our standard of living in Mexico despite the loss of one income. Taking Advantage of Taxes During all of our highest-earning years, Ellen and I happened to live in Nevada, Washington, and Texas all locations without state income tax. While avoiding state income tax is obviously appealing, these states make up for that lost revenue by increasing taxes in other areas. Nevada: There is no personal or corporate income tax because the state collects billions of dollars each year in the form of gambling taxes and fees. While we lived there, I gambled with exactly $0 of my money, avoiding this tax altogether.Washington: Here we had one of the highest sales tax rates in the country (8.88%) and high gas prices on account of higher gasoline taxes. While we lived there, we didnt consume a lot compared to most households, which lowered our sales tax burden. I also worked from a home office and Ellen taught at a nearby school so we didnt really use inordinate amounts of gasoline either.Texas: Here we also had a high sales tax rate (8.25%) and lived in the state with the fourth-highest property tax rate in the country incredibly, we owed over 2% of our homes value every year in property taxes! In Texas, we maintained our relatively frugal lifestyle, again reducing our exposure to the higher sales tax burden. And although we were pre-approved for an inexplicably high $750,000 mortgage in 2007 (on our two five-figure incomes no less!), we chose to instead take on a $100,000 mortgage and buy a starter home less than a mile from the office where we knew Id be working. We moved to Colorado in 2016, the same year we both stopped working full-time. This is the first state weve lived in together where weve been charged state income tax (a middling 4.63%, the 23rd-lowest in the country). But we have low property taxes and the lowest state sales tax in the country (out of states collecting sales tax). Although we're now paying state income tax in Colorado, our earned income as early retirees is predictably the lowest its been in our fourteen-year relationship. And although weve bought a home that cost us almost three times as much as what we paid for our Texas home, were actually paying less each year in property taxes. Bonus fact for money nerds! For anyone curious, heres the complete list of states with no state income tax: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. Note, however, that while New Hampshire currently charges no state income tax on earned income, it does tax investment income. Also, Tennessee currently charges no state income tax on earned income, but does tax some dividends and interest income. However, Tennessee has announced plans to phase out state income taxes altogether by 2022. Making Money with Airbnb Our most recent experience with geographic arbitrage was more deliberate. When we learned that 31 October 2016 was going to be my last day of full-time work, it didnt take us long to devise a plan to return to Latin America, this time with our two young children. In our research, we quickly discovered The Earth Awaits, a useful tool for comparing the crime statistics, pollution levels, and cost of living of various cities around the world. At the time, Cuenca, Ecuador was the only Latin American city in their database that had earned the designations low crime and low pollution. Since we were traveling there with a nine-month-old and a two-year-old, those seemed like great characteristics to us! We did some additional research on similar tools and local expat forums, and only became more and more interested in visiting the city. Heres a short promo video showcasing Cuenca and the surrounding Andean mountain region. [embedded content] Shortly after we decided to spend our first winter in Cuenca, I had another ambitious idea. I felt it would be wasteful for our house to sit empty for three months while we were traveling, so I proposed to Ellen that we experiment with hosting our home on Airbnb while we were away. She was resistant at first, and rightly so. It was going to take a lot of work to get our home ready and sort out who would manage everything while we were away, among other things. But she came around to the idea and we gave it a go. We've discussed our Airbnb hosting experience in more detail in the following articles at our website, and we've done a fair amount of Airbnb hosting since. We were very impressed with the success of our Airbnb experiment. Our homes first ever booking was $1,890 for 8 nights! While we choose not to publish our net worth and our monthly expenses in dollars for personal reasons, Ive prepared the following chart to illustrate the impact Airbnb had on our financial picture while we were traveling.

Let's look at these numbers: Expenses: Our standard monthly expenses are represented on the chart as 100%. Weve been tracking our expenses in Mint since 2008 and Personal Capital since 2013. Before that, I tracked another decade of our expenses in desktop budgeting software. So we feel pretty confident in our understanding and control of our monthly expenses.Traveling Expenses: This shows approximately how much our monthly expenses dropped during our 6 months (two winters) in Cuenca.Potential Portfolio Income: This shows our safe monthly spending level should we live solely off of our investment portfolio per the 4% rule.Uncommon Dream Income: Although neither of us work full-time, I enjoy doing a day or two each week of consulting and we earn a small amount of income from our blog.Rental Income: This represents the monthly income weve been able to earn through Airbnb while were traveling. In case you missed it, let me draw your attention to an important point: Our monthly expenses while we were living in Cuenca were actually lower than our monthly Airbnb income. So, if we hadnt spent over a decade accumulating a portfolio of assets that could cover our living expenses, and if we werent continuing to earn any income, our Airbnb rental income alone still could have covered our cost of living abroad! This actually exceeded my own expectations for our Airbnb experiment. I also need to point out that we prioritized paying off our first home during the 2008-2009 recession. And we havent carried a mortgage since. The potential is certainly magnified by the absence of a mortgage. But even homeowners with a mortgage or renters may very well be able to cover their housing related bills this way, freeing them up to more affordably slow travel. Closing Thoughts When I ask people what they would do if money weren't a factor, traveling abroad often makes the list. While travel is a common desire, everyones specific motivations vary. Some dream of learning another language while others are drawn to an areas unique geographical features. Still others seek to experience life in a radically different culture. For most of us though, money is a factor. But thats no reason to give up on the dream of traveling abroad. Living costs around the world vary tremendously and many great destinations are quite affordable. Weve met a number of people living abroad who fund their overseas lifestyles in creative ways. Some live on personal savings while others rely on income from rental properties back home. Some work remotely while others find local work. A few of our expat friends have even started companies abroad. If travel is a priority for you, don't let your current financial situation act as a barrier. Get creative. Use tools like The Earth Awaits to discover affordable places to live. Leverage the power of geographic arbitrage to pursue your dreams!

ok so i watched love simon for the first time last night & i was too tired to make a ‘final thoughts’ post then, so here it is now! lol

obviously this is gonna be long as hell so im putting it under a read more for ur convenience lmfao

im actually gonna start with what i didnt like bc it was just one thing.

obviously, if uve seen the movie (as many ppl hated this too), or read my liveblogging posts, u know what it is lol

ill be honest, as a gay person, im incredibly biased towards simon. ill admit that. that being said, how his friends treated him after he got outed was fucking disgusting.

here’s the thing: the actions simon did that his friends got upset over were motivated by the threat of him being outed. now, if this movie was just some fluffy, fantastical movie, the threat would just be ppl knowing he’s gay and that’s it. no repercussions, just ppl gaining the knowledge that he’s not straight. not that big a deal.

however, since this movie tries its best to be accurate and realistic to things, it’s not that simple in the movie, and it’s not the simple in real life.

the risk of being outed is not just ‘ppl knowing ur gay’ and that’s it.

the risk of being outed involves the risk of getting bullied (which does happen in the movie, twice. once to ethan on screen, once to simon after he comes out.), getting abandoned by ur friends (which also does happen in the movie), getting expelled from school or fired from ur job if either of them find out & are lgbtphobic, getting kicked out of ur house if ur parents/whoever u live w find out & theyre lgbtphobic, and, at worst, it can come with the risk of getting beaten or even killed.

and no, this isnt me blowing this up to be more serious than it should be. bc unfortunately, in the world we live in, these things can happen as a result of someone being lgbt, whether they came out themselves or were outed by someone else.

the worst thing simon did was hurt his friends’ feelings a bit.

he didnt notice leah’s feelings for him (which. why would he? he’s not interested in her, or any girl for that matter, so obviously he’s not looking for the signs of interest. why would he notice that, and why was it his responsibility to know anyway??). he tried to set nick up with her because he genuinely thought she had feelings for nick, and that’s the main reason why he didn’t realize that she liked him.

yes, part of the motive was trying to get nick out the way so he could set abby up with martin, but ffs. let me reiterate that his life, and potential future, were on the line. having the possibility of all the aforementioned things potentially happening to him should make his actions at least understandable.

like falling for someone that doesnt like u back bc theyre not attracted to ur gender (which like.. hello. gay ppl fucking experience that shit all the time too & we have to learn to deal w it.), or being put in a game of matchmaker bc ur friend was trying to save their own fucking life is rly not that big a deal compared to said friend’s situation of trying to save their own fucking life.

one situation hurts, but can eventually be healed from (which clearly they do in the movie since abby and nick got together anyway in spite of simon’s actions, and leah’s fine). the other situation has the chance of resulting in a fucking future/life being ruined or taken. i think that one is much more fucking important.

all in all, i just wish they wouldve fucking apologized. bc they screamed at him after he got outed.

abby saw how fucking terrified he was when he came out to her, but she’s not gonna have a single ounce of sympathy when he was outed to the entire school against his will?? like what the fuck!

also wish they wouldve stood up for him when he got bullied. they just sat there with guilty expressions, but none of them did anything. it was really rough to watch.

as much as all this seriously pissed me off, though, especially as a person who has been outed against my will so all of simon’s heartache as a result rly resonated with me..

i appreciate that they put that shit in.

bc u know what unfortunately that is how cishet ppl react sometimes. guilting u for being lgbt, guilting u for not coming out to them despite knowing how scary it can be, etc etc etc.

and getting apologizes from cishet ppl for that kinda shit is rare. so, as much as i was annoyed that they didnt apologize, that is unfortunately realistic. as much as i wish they wouldve stood up for him, that was also unfortunately realistic. so im still glad it’s in there even if it did piss me off.

simon’s speech to martin was nice at least, and i hope that it taught some cishet ppl that have outed ppl, or threatened to out ppl, or wanted to out ppl, why u just dont fucking do that shit.

the fact that this is not only a mainstream lgbt rom-com, but also a mainstream movie abt a gay kid learning to love himself and be confident with himself and his sexuality

simon’s journey to being able to proudly proclaim that he’s gay.

the speech he has near the end is so fucking powerful bc we see him struggle throughout the movie to say it.

first he cant say it at all, then he can only say it quietly, but by the end of the movie, he’s proclaiming to the entire school, loud and proud, that yes. he is gay. and he’s not going to feel wrong for that anymore.

i feel like that entire journey is one that can really resonate with a lot of ppl, including myself. so im so fucking happy that this movie included that progression, and ended it with him having such an exuberant amount of confidence. it was honestly really beautiful, and im glad i got to witness it.

like i seriously appreciate how real this movie is. and it doesnt have lines like this, or plots like the blackmailing/outing just for drama.

it’s to show that this is how being lgbt can be sometimes, this shit rly happens. and i just rly appreciated seeing all that in a way that didnt even try to pull any punches. it was so clear they seriously cared abt making this an accurate movie, and that meant a lot

GETTING TO SEE TWO BOYS KISSING ON SCREEN MULTIPLE TIMES, AND NOT JUST THAT, BUT GETTING TO SEE THEM GET A HAPPY ENDING!!!!!

i seriously cried for like 20 minutes starting from when bram showed up at the ferris wheel to well after the credits had ended.

i cannot even begin to express how fucking incredible it was to get to see two boys kissing, getting cheered on, and getting to be happy.

especially in the scene where simon picks up everyone, and leah moves so bram can get in the front seat and he kisses simon when he gets in. IT WAS SO SWEET.. AND BEAUTIFUL I LOVED/APPRECIATED IT SO MUCH IT MEANT SOOOO FUCKING MUCH TO ME GOSH

my thoughts of the movie can be boiled down to this: im so fucking happy this movie exists.

im so fucking happy that a movie abt a gay kid learning to be confident in his sexuality, falling in love and getting to have a happy ending with his boyfriend exists.

ive never cried more at a movie than i did at this movie, and ive especially never cried harder out of sheer happiness for a movie.

knowing that this movie was in theaters, and that gay kids/teens have a movie that lets them know early on that not only is gonna be ok, but they do have a chance at a happy ending, and they deserve it, was so goddamn amazing.

this movie is so, so important. and im so happy that it, and the book its based off of, exist.

and it’s a prime example of why representation matters so much. it was so fucking amazing to see myself, as a gay person, represented so well, so thoughtfully, so respectfully.

i just... i love this movie so much. and im so glad it exists. and im so happy i finally got to see it.

i hope it inspires more movies/stories like it to be made.

i hope that it results in lgbt stories being happy, uplifting stories.

i hope that it results in lgbt characters getting to be the main characters.

i hope it results in coming out stories being about the lgbt characters, and not how them coming out affects the cishet characters around them.

and i hope it results in less tragic endings for lgbt characters, and more happy endings for lgbt characters.

for a long time, a future where we get the stories just mentioned has seemed bleak. but this movie changed that. and im excited for the road i hope it’s started us on.
