I’ll be honest, I’m mostly writing this because I’m trying to come up with codex entries for my ocs and this gives me a good way to think about what kinds there are.  but hey, reblog, ask for a number and an OC?  or add your own.  whatever floats your boat.  written with Dragon Age OCs in mind.

what she means: sebastian vael deserved better. he was warmhearted and genuinely cared about other people and their well-being but the fandom demonized him because he showed an emotional reaction to the death of a person he was close with and whom he loved and bioware just went along with it

thinking about that Solas-Sera banter where Solas is like “our elven people fought and died here….” and Sera tries to get Solas’ goat like “Ew, we’re stepping on dead elves, gross,” and he snaps in elven, “You wanna be dead like our people? we can make that happen!” in like the most deadly scary voice he uses in the entire game. 

Solas: “Our people used to be here.” Sera: “Pfft, you say that everywhere.” Solas: “It is more true than you want to believe.” Sera: “I bet, right? Who wants to think about stepping on dead elves.” Solas: “Din elvhen emma him?” Sera: “Oh, you felt that one.”

Solas says “Din elvhen emma him?” WITH SUCH A DEADLY VOICE. It means something like “Our people are dead, do you want to be dead too?” (lit. “Dead our people, your become?”)

Like… Sera tries to get his goat SO much in this game, and the only time she really succeeds is by making Dead Elf Jokes. Everything is so hurtful and nothing is good or fine.

Hey full offense but can we stop acting like canon is some horrible story line that never gets its own characters right and accept that it’s canon that gave us the characters we love in the first place and appreciate that the writers aren’t getting their own characters wrong and fanon infact changes them to fit into headcanons and fics so we can all shut up and stop calling writers not conforming to fanon ideologies ‘bad writing’

Questions I have about sex with Cullen Rutherford…

How long does it take to just remove all of his fucking armor?

THIS is why people like Cullen, THIS is why having characters like him is important.

When people mindlessly hate on his development in such an egregiously ableist way, it hurts those of us with PTSD deeply. When you ignore or flat out refuse to acknowledge his obvious symptoms, his word-of-god confirmation of his mental illnesses, you’re telling people like those above, and myself, that you will not believe us nor our experiences. You are telling developers and creators that you do not care about having such basic representation for us, that you would have preferred him an “evil murder-crazed villain” than a victim with PTSD who is actively trying to recover.

Every bit of Cullen hate (or “critical”) I’ve seen is ableist, completely ignoring how he is a victim of trauma and how his mental illnesses that have been gone untreated for more than a decade. It’s extremely transparent that you hate people with PTSD, you find us ‘scary’ and wish to perpetuate such harmful stigmas to further hurt us. You can dislike him all you want, but first thoroughly consider your words/thoughts to make sure they are not ableist against people struggling with PTSD, and let’s not forget the addiction as well. Bioware did right to retcon those DAO slides because they were horribly ableist to begin with.

Somehow the fandom has made it a fad to hate on Cullen and his fans particularly–ignoring the fact that we find versions of ourselves in his development to instead insist that we just like ‘a pretty white boy.’ It’s incredibly diminutive of Cullen fans, and it’s insulting to simplify his complex, mentally ill character to the point that you ignore the parts of ourselves we see in him.

Edit: this doesn’t mean I’m calling you ableist if you dislike him or have differing opinions, because apparently this needed to be said

So people with an extremely ableist Cullen-hate tag? People who have entire fucking pages devoted to slamming his recovery arc and his fans–many of whom are going through similar things?? Y’all can go fuck yourselves. Know that you are hurting countless mentally ill people, not helping. You know who you are, and I hope you know that you are the worst.

DA2 desrved at least half the effort that went into Inquisition’s forests, pretty waterfalls and wild rams running around, because according to the concept artist and some codex entries, Kirkwall was supposed to be a literal maze, a heavy, confusing city with an endless number of alleys, secret passages, chambers, some streets literally being built in the shape of magical glyphs. To the point of Merrill getting lost is not an indication of her being bad at navigating human cities, it’s just that the city itself is a goddamn mess.

At least it could have served some story purpose, and there could have been some interesting stuff to be found in all these secret places you may found in 7 years. Instead of, you know, huge empty deserts where nothing is happening.
