I know I need to stop. But, sometimes, I only catch myself doing it after it's been going on for several minutes. Today, I'm sure both Bulivia and some of the kids noticed the staring.

No matter how many times I tell myself it doesn't matter if I bore that child or not--and it is very likely I didn't--I still find myself staring a little too long at some of the kids that are around the right age when I check in on classes. Searching for my features, or his, or a mixture of both of them. Does she have Ganondorf's eyes? My nose or lips?Today, I tricked myself into believing one girl looked a little like me. But reason kicked in eventually, reminding me that young Illi belonged to Taji. And I probably just made this poor girl feel as though her chieftain had it out for her or something. I tried to make sure I cheered her on a little extra after her spar.

I know I should talk to Zana about it. She's the only person who knew I was pregnant before I was brainwashed, and, I imagine, she would have delivered that baby if there was a delivery to be done. I just...can't bring myself to do it. It feels pointless because I'm sure she would have told me. Even if Twinrova or Ganondorf himself told her to keep it quiet, she would have no reason to keep it from me. REASONABLY, I know I lost the child, either naturally or perhaps to Twinrova's spite.

And yet...I still can't help but look. To, perhaps, hope. I cannot deny that, when my mind wanders to what could have been, there is occasionally a daughter in the picture.

But, as it were, it was not meant to be.

Entry Four: Date December 13th 1898

I managed to hire a black smith to gain the tools I needed for the dissection, or would it be a vivisection? For the creature is certainly not alive, but nor is he full dead either. Alas, I get ahead of myself, the tools I ordered arrived just this morning and I am excited to try them out on the creature, see what exactly makes it tick.

The flesh reacts oddly when cut with silver, burning and slicing at the same time, though holy water is needed in order to keep the flesh from coming back together, though it is thankfully far slower than when I was simply using steel. Still, it does have the unfortunate side effect of my laboratory smelling of burning flesh which lingers horribly. I will have to find a way to correct that, or at the very least to make certain that I take numerous showers before returning to the upper levels for it offends my Amelia's delicate senses quite fervently.

I do not mind it much, for it is but a small price to pay in order to discover Dracula's secrets such as the fact he does indeed have a beating heart, which surprises me greatly. I thought vampires would have had a still unbeating heart, yet it seems that I have been mistaken, for Dracula's is still very much beating, albeit I'm not sure if it has blood to pump or if it is merely doing it because that's what it did in life. Whatever the case may be this is a fascinating discovery and opens so many avenues for scientific theory. Does the heart beat because being undead is still a state of living? Can Dracula and subsequently other vampires be considered technically alive if this is the case?

Vampires are not warm like living beings are, and that fact cannot be more well represented than the feeling of cold blood running across my hands as I try and study the organs within. It is a strange feeling and if I closed my eyes, I would have thought it to be merely water going across my hands. The blood is colder than that of corpse, and perhaps this is the true source of the vampire's icy exterior. I have the feeling that Dracula will prove to be a very interesting study, and I may die without knowing everything. Which saddens me, but that means I still have much to learn, which likewise excites me beyond measure.

"I know, I know!" Chad yelled back at J.D., his words only fueling the onset of panic in his anxiety-ridden mind. He knew was screwing up, he didn't need to be reminded! But oh, he didn't blame J.D., or any of his teammates when they got a little testy about his tenuous hold on his composure sometimes. This was just about the worst situation they'd ever been in, and he knew he wasn't measuring up to the task, already. Half his team was dead because he couldn't do his job well, after all.

Chad's empathy didn't stop with the loss of his friends and teammates. He couldn't have helped himself when he asked about the others, not wanting to lose anybody else no matter who they might be working for. But when J.D. reminded him that half their team was gone, the tightness in his chest and the way his stomach bottomed out for a second was always too much to bear.

"I know..." he repeated, feeling like total shit. "I'm sorry." The priority now is getting the rest of us outta here alive! J.D.'s words sank in and made Chad feel like he was going to cry from sheer stress and survivor's guilt alone. "Okay..." he said, his voice trembling. "I'm not gonna get anyone else killed..." he added quickly after, his wording already giving away that he was taking full responsibility for their deaths.

That J.D. had to yell yet again to get him to snap out of it was only making Chad feel worse. God, why couldn't he focus and calm the hell down?! He never really wanted to be a soldier, but he'd gone down that path and here he was, so now was not the time to let down even more of his team.

As he fought with his own brain to produce the elevator code for a while before turning to his computer for answers, Chad's hands trembled terribly. Hearing J.D.'s voice again, Chad looked up. "I'm trying! I-... Just gimme a second!" He hit the wrong key and the wrong file opened. "Shit!" he said, his voice cracking as he backed out and tried again. J.D. prodded him again and he yelled back, breathing hard and about ready to completely panic. "I know!"

Rain yanking back J.D.'s attention from him did wonders to help Chad focus. Once the spotlight and pressure - that part of it, anyway - were off of him, he could take a breath and concentrate on what he was doing. When he finally had the code, he went to the elevator and punched it in. But his relief at doing so was short-lived.

"Okay, I-!" he started to yell but then a couple of hands reached out from between the opened doors at him. "Woah!" Chad yelled, backing away and tripping, falling to the floor. "Oh, shit!" he said, scrambling with his gun, but it was too late. The crazed people were already grabbing his legs to pull him closer. "Get off of me!" he spat at them, frantically kicking and scrambling to back away from them. "Help!" he called out, his voice high-pitched and nearly squeaking in terror.

"I don't think they have any sense to retreat with," Chad said. "Do we just keep firing, or do we look for a way out?" he then asked, continuing to shoot, for now. It didn't always work. Sometimes they didn't stay down. In the midst of this nightmare, Chad was glad he had someone as solid as J.D. with him. He always seemed to know what to do in Chad's opinion, or at least he approached things with a lot more confidence than Chad could ever hope to have in a lifetime.

"At this rate, we're gonna run out of ammo. Fast." And then what would happen? Was it too much to ask that he suddenly develop quick-thinking skills and a whole lot of bravery on the spot? Chad had a feeling he was going to need it.

i wanted to take a quick beat to remind all of you that this time of year can be especially hectic for a LOT of people. schools are back up and running, college has begun, the summer has come to an end and introduced a new routine that many of us will find challenging and possibly overwhelming.

this post is meant to remind you of a few key facts for our self-awareness! including:

you are not a bad person in any capacity for deleting your inbox. i just deleted mine and it had 348 ish in there. you might want to delete yours with fifty. honestly? none of that is something that reflects on your character. you have a real life to tend to, don't be stressing over your prompts, your friends will understand and likely do the exact same thing!

same as above, you're not a bad person for deleting your drafts. listen to me. spring cleaning just happens in september on tumblr. it's okay! you are doing so well! look at you, prioritising your own mental health! super proud of you, have a sticker, don't be losing sleep over this.

spring cleaning might also include going through your followers, now this is IMPORTANT: you are not a bad person for making your mutual count smaller, you are similarly not a bad person if someone removes you from their mutuals via soft or hard blocking. the thing is that 200 mutuals is maybe manageable for some people in the summer, but once you have finals and deadlines in the mix? forget about it. it doesn't mean a single thing beyond "i'm stressed and i feel like that might change if i have less people to write with".

anyway, i love you all, drink some water, eat that snack, be a snack, snacks are amazing and so are you. stop beating yourself up for having limits. nobody is paying you to be here. this is your hobby. imagine if your friend was stressing out over painting? exactly. stop stressing out over tumblr rp. love you all! <3

hello, i am here to ask you about your clown yaoi hcs <3

a lot of these are based on an rp i did with a buddy of mine but here are some of my faves:

shanks has a box of letters he's never sent because buggy never answered his first one and shanks doesn't want to be a bother :(

(they're both idiots because buggy absolutely read it and wrote a reply but then ripped it up bc no!! he won't let shanks get the better of him!!)

toki taught them how to dance while they were on the oro jackson and after they finally get together post-timeskip, one of the first things they do is dance together the way toki taught them

buggy is immune to and from shanks' haki and always thought this was normal bc they were practically inseparable as kids so why tf would he be scared of shanks (it is not normal. no one can explain it)

(they swore a literal blood oath when they were like 10 that they would always be there for each other. shanks' haki recognizes a piece of itself in buggy. neither one of them is aware of this)

this also means shanks has never been able to sense buggy with observation haki, which absolutely terrified him when he first awakened it as a kid because he could feel everyone and everything too much too loud but not buggy, why couldn't he feel buggy

shanks' observation awakening also happened during the whole shiki shitshow at edd war so not only was there a HUGE STORM and buggy possibly drowning to worry about but so much death and anger and fear and he couldn't sense buggy in any of it

roger had to separate these wet kittens bc shanks was having a mild mental breakdown and buggy was not helping bc buggy has never understood the whole haki thing and shanks was so afraid buggy didn't feel anything about him bc buggy was the only quiet part of the storm but buggy was also safe and it was just a mess and a half until shanks' brain stopped exploding

so much of their miscommunication stems from the fact that shanks is absolutely garbage at reading buggy (and he can't even cheat with haki) and the fact that buggy always assumes shanks means something he doesn't (king of catastrophizing everything shanks says) — especially when he does actually know what shanks meant and can't deal with shanks being so brutally honest

eventually, once they're more established as an Actual Couple (or something close to it) they sort of stumble their way into experimenting with buggy's devil fruit power which results in what i like to call armsharing

buggy lets shanks borrow his arm and through a combination of like deliberately giving his will over to shanks and inexplicable haki nonsense (the intimacy of literally giving a piece of yourself to another person wholly and freely), shanks is able to control the arm, but buggy can still feel it as an extension of his body

while shanks is in control of the arm, he can also use haki on it (like hardening or what have you), but for the first time buggy can also feel shanks' haki (which feels so much like roger buggy almost loses it) and shanks, for the first time, can sense buggy's feelings

he still can't see buggy's aura tho bc it is, in fact, too enormous to be seen by looking directly at it but is radiating every feeling he's ever felt about shanks at full capacity

the first time they armshare shanks cries bc it's like he's seeing buggy for the first time with his eyes wide open and he can finally finally feel the immensely overwhelming love pouring off buggy in waves (that he always wanted to believe was there but never knew for sure)

it only works when shanks is borrowing the arm tho so as soon as buggy takes it back, haki immunity is reinstated :(

they get married post-canon and fuck off to live on a houseboat together until they have a kid and shanks panics bc he can't live at sea with two drowning risks who are also THEE most important ppl in his life

so they move back to karai bari and establish a real town there that isn't just circus tents and it's very cute and domestic but also mildly annoying for shanks bc croc and mihawk just never left and now croc is mayor i guess bc no one else wanted the job

their kid is named giacomo who they call their little jackpot or just jack for short

jack grows up and wants to be just like his dads and granddads and eventually apprentices in shipbuilding so he can build his own ship in homage to the oro jackson that he calls the oro jackpot

shanks and buggy and the rest of roger's surviving crew all have small pieces of the oro jackson that they've held onto all this time and they donate these pieces to the oro jackpot so roger will live on in that ship too

also if you do Steve as autistic, do you think he'd ever seek a diagnosis? what would his reaction be? my bff finally got her diagnoses for autism and ADHD earlier this week and she was so relieved and happy to finally have doctors listen to her. idk something about her happiness made me think of steve because he makes me happy too.

you just unlocked my most precious and dead headcanon, oh anon. i do, in fact, headcanon steve as autistic. part of it is self-indulgent projection, and i certainly expand on traits that are already there in a direct way to maintain that headcanon, but i do also feel like it's not entirely out of the ballpark for him as a character!

the second part of your question is really interesting, and my answer is... maybe? i have an ongoing RP with a friend where he was diagnosed by a therapist, not because he sought a diagnosis, but because this particular therapist saw the traits within him and recommended he seek one, and honestly, i feel like that is probably most accurate to how it would go for him seeing as autism wasn't a prevalent or talked about thing in any casual capacity before the ice, so he wouldn't really... know to seek out a diagnosis/connect that certain perspectives, ways he views the world, and struggles he may have align with autism. but i love the thought that once he is diagnosed, so many personal questions are answered, and he is able to go on a journey to recontextualize things for himself and begin to accommodate and celebrate himself! so yes, relief is a very strong result of that for him, i'm sure

In the wake of there not being much to update the Compendium with, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to promote the project broadly again. ✨

Hi! My name is Sea, and I have an unhealthy obsession with taking on large community projects! This is my Final Fantasy XIV Community Compendium, focusing on linking as many XIV writing/roleplaying discords, forums, events, free companies and resources as I can get my hands on. While the inspired by and predominately tailored for role-players, it should have something for anyone looking to engage creatively with the game in some capacity.

If you'd like to simply check out what the Compendium is all about and miss my waffling below, any of the links on this post will take you there — but this is a handy one! A reblog also goes a huge way to increase my reach and find communities/resources. You're also welcome to share this post with people not on Tumblr who might be looking for communities/resources, or have something to add.

What is the Compendium?

In my opinion, the way people engage with fandom and communities has changed. It was once extremely common for people to hop onto the XIV Roleplaying Forum or find people looking for contact on Tumblr, but most of these resources have shifted to Discord. While Discord is great for keeping a community when you have it, the isolation of these communities into hidden, secular spaces doesn’t do a lot to help people find them in the first place and creates an air of loneliness/disconnect for new players or people looking to find specific communities.

I don’t believe that a person should necessarily be a part of x amount of servers to find the one that suits them, nor that all communities should necessarily be on Discord — or just plain hard to find.

However, while this is currently the standard, I’d like to try and help these communities be fostered and seen in a place accessible to basically anyone with an internet connection. If one community has benefited from this document, then I have done my part.

What's on the Compendium?

Large-scale community discords such as the XIV Reddit Discord, Hunts, GPOSE promotions and broad-space roleplay servers that harbour a large number of people and are publicly available to all. These may not have an RP focus but will assist in other aspects of the game.

Free Company & community-focused servers. E.G. an Ishgardian Roleplay server whose mission is to foster a community for Ishgardian characters; an EU server created to help players struggling with timezones. This also includes event discords such as fight clubs, markets, cafes, etc.

Friend/casual servers that have a roleplay element but may be just a group of people looking to find others to hang out and do content with.

Miscellaneous. Likely to be less community servers and more resources such as lore compilations, how-to guides, gposing techniques, boosting blogs, etc. These may get their own dedicated section later.

Is my space suitable for the Compendium? Most of the time, yes! Below the read more is some more information/stipulations. Again, all accessible on the document! 🪸

Content intended for or can be used for bullying, harassment and OOC gossip. E.g. ‘Secrets’ blogs, receipts, callout posts, etc. This does not include in-character tabloid blogs used to generate RP.

Communities that do not have an RP/writing element (large-scale exempt).

Anything I find personally distasteful or goes against the spirit of this project.

FAQ.

I want to put my community on the compendium but we have an application process. Is this okay?

Yes! Just note somewhere in your application that's a requirement. The only thing that is mandatory for the Compendium is that you must be open to new members or have a public-facing/accessible facet. There's no point advertising a community if no one can join it in some way!

I want to put my community on the compendium but I only have x number of members —

Also totally okay! People don't start with large communities. Activity is a must but, whether your server has two or two thousand members, if you're looking for new people to join, I'd love to help you find people.

I want to put my community on the compendium but I worry its too niche?

Okay, and? If your Eorzean Fishing Alliance has four members but you roleplay every second weekend, I still want to know about it.

What resources/communities can I add if I'm not the owner of them?

Mutual consent is extremely important to me, so anything that isn't a large-scale community OR a publicly accessible resource must be endorsed by the owner/admin/moderators in order to be added to the compendium. I operate under the assumption that a resource posted to a public space (tumblr, googledocs, youtube, etc) is open to all. A large-scale community is one with a significant member count or openly advertises itself as being accessible to everyone for whatever purpose it serves. If in doubt, please get in touch with me. I'm happy to contact your community owners for you!

How active does a community need to be?

Communities have ebbs and flows, especially event spaces that may take hiatuses depending on member interest/life events. I'm not strict in my implementation provided a space isn't dead.
