I think Loop was the one who ingrained in king the habit to tie up the hair that cover his face. King technically can navigate the world without needing to see but their bright star kept insisting and so it became a habit

The only reason that Loop insisted so much is because seeing kings eyes just make them realise that things are different and time is linear (and maybe stop them from throttling him every once in while)
