excuse me for stating the obvious but like. james gunn outright calling superman an immigrant and doubling down on it when he got backlash (because he IS an immigrant, that's the point of superman) + the in-movie dialogue of "aren't you going to read me my rights?" "you're an extraterrestrial, son. you haven't got any rights to read." + the violence of his arrest and how they torture and mistreat him unapologetically, all under the guise of "protecting america", in a film releasing during the onslaught of violent ICE kidnappings and abuse... yeah it's really no wonder right-wing knobheads are crying about this being woke. they're being forced to look directly at the reasons one of the most well-known and beloved heroes of all time would not be on their side. and that's only ONE of the reasons this movie covers

SHIVERS [formidable: success] — It’s finally the end of the week. Jamrock is slowly coming to life. Some unlucky fools spill out onto the streets, heading for their early jobs. In one of the old, unremarkable in appearance apartment complexes two men lie in a shared bed and smile at each other. They have just awoken. There is… something in the air. Electric and orange. Smelling of disco and tobacco smoke. Of motor oil and terrible fashion choices. Is that… that dreaded word… love?

Harry's gender

Harry is extremely burdened by performing a man's role. He is deep in internalised homophobia and misogynistic/patriarchal ideas of masculinity + all of this facilitated by capitalim as he never managed to provide enough for his fiancée who was much wealthier than him in the first place, he failed his role as a man

Even though he was good at his job, working in a male dominated environment which promotes violence and bigotry made him deeply unhappy. He had to deal with his disabilities, addiction, exhaustion, depression, repressed sexuality and all the expectations he had to abide as a man and a cop for many years

Not long ago before his big breakdown, Harry couldn't handle it anymore, and at the expense of his job, plunged more into partying, drinking and most importantly disco. It started off small, with Harry buying a fun multi-colored disco tie, and soon changed his whole outfit to match it better, as it didnt fit cop attire

He started to wear a green blazer, flare-cut trousers and crocodile leather shoes with high heels. Even though heels look average on the actual drawing of his shoes (I assume it's because the artist was referencing how real men's loafers look like), the writers clearly intended for them to have high heels as they are mentioned three times in their descriptions

Disco was the time when Harry was younger, happier. As disco seems to have ties with queer community, we can assume it also allowed for a more fluid gender expression

This is the time where Harry wants to return to. Disco is not just a fun gimmick but a slight break from the traditional masculinity, and for Harry too feel like a person, not a cop

Additionally there are several moments when Harry's brain seem to use unprompted feminine terms, like "disco mother", "pixie girl", "fairie queen", possible showing his desire to experiment with his gender

Ancient Reptilian Brain also call Limbic System "sister". Worth mentioning that Limbic System is unique as it has a higher voice in comparison to other parts of his brain

And his reaction to a silky leopard bodysuit, which are the only clothes from which Harry receives so much pleasure and euphoria

Where I was going with it? Harry is really complicated guy(?) with a lot of complicated and repressed feelings about his gender. And that I think he will look really good in dresses <3
