Saving my long winded rambles for the last part, I feel like I have more to say about the backstory of this comic than the actual comic. This one's supposed to be cathartic for me and kinda take real life events but use my blorbos to fix things that were out of my control, just saying that so the leshy freakout hopefully doesn't seem edgy or like I did it for shock value. That plays out a lot better than it did irl, shoutout to the bishop siblings for being evil villain guys yet still knowing how to coax their brother out of a meltdown :')

I wish I had more to say about this one but it's a head empty kind of day, I'm working on some more lighthearted stuff as responses to other people's art so I'll just let this one speak for itself. The tags/comments I get on angst stuff are TOP TIER so I always just hover and watch what people are saying anyway hahaha

I get very sad every single time I think about the fact that when I watched Gravity Falls, when it was still coming out, I was just as blissfully unaware as Dipper and Mabel. And that now that I'm older, I'm seeing it through Stan's lens.

All that time. All that work. And hiding it from them, too. Being the best parental figure you can he when you barely had your own parents. When you've lost all of your family. When you're searching day in and day out for a way to get your brother back home. And fuck, he did a good job too.

Dipper and Mabel were loved and cared for. Stan went through so much, and now that I'm older, maybe not his age but older than the twins, I see it.

No one saw it.

Just the idea of Stan being so alone for so long..I think Mabel and Dipper were just what he needed. Both in the sense of finally getting Ford back when he gets the third journal, and needing family. Needing love. Needing family.

Grover looks so uncomfortable with being seen and that breaks my heart. Annabeth knows him well enough to know that he picks at his horns when he's anxious, and she makes an effort to help him manage his anxiety in a less harmful way, he looks so disgruntled at the fact that she noticed that about him, and did something about it. His sole purpose as a protector is to take care of demigods, and he's not really sure what to do or whether he's failed when one notices he's struggling and tries to take care of him. Annabeth and Grover love each other so much.

consider an au where sylus is still a powerful figure and the unnamed ruler of onichynus but also a single father to young twin boys, kieran and luke.

he hesitates at first at the idea of taking in two children who were stranded in the n109 zone, debating on whether or not this was just another ploy of one of his many enemies. yet, with how beat down and shaken they were in that alley... that weary heart of gold spoke to him after his keen senses assured this was a matter that involved nothing but sympathy.

gaining their trust was a challenge, more so than when he first realized the power he wielded and how to use it to his advantage. but over time, his heart stirred knowing that he had an additional purpose to his life. if ruling onichynus and being the fearsome figure his stomping grounds saw him as would do him this good in being able to protect them, he would continue to do so.

then in comes you — the one he has been looking over for time now, the one who shares the unique prowess of holding an aether core in your body. the both of you are alike in many ways, only that you've yet to realize your true potential and wield your evol properly.

the resentment and hesitation you feel towards being able to trust sylus is mediated in a smoother manner, when you're introduced to the two young souls under sylus' care. while in other situations you would take advantage of this vulnerability to bargain intel, your keen assessment of the bond sylus has with his sons is genuine and true.

in kieran and luke's perspective, upon warming up to your presence and noticing the fond look in their father's eyes when he gazes at you... they wouldn't mind trying to play matchmaker. they wouldn't mind if you decided to stay around, to accompany sylus and them for the rest of their days.
