Thanks so much for the mention!! Especially since your blog is definitely an inspiration to me, both regarding vibes and your Mirkwood lore!
Are there any other blogs like yours? I love to read about ocs and people's headcanons and world bulding you know? Like people adding their own thoughts to the story, but i don't think i have Ever seen another like this one..
Okay first of all, I want to hug you, shake your hand, and put you on a pedestal, because people who "love to read about ocs and people's headcanons and world building" are a rare treasure! <3
What probably makes my blog different from others you've seen is that I'm a little more extensive and intense (for lack of a better word) with my worldbuilding and AU formation. For the most part, I stick to ONE consistent timeline, history, and universe across the board, for all my Tolkien writing. I might occasionally deviate for the sake of fic requests, but for the most part, I'm keen on consistency and everything tying together neatly.
For example, I will only ever have one same OC wife for canon characters like Eomer, Boromir, or Elendil. In my AU, Boromir will never die. Thranduil has only ever loved Maereth. Legolas will never be an only child. These facts will always hold true in the Tolkien fics I write, unless a request asks for otherwise and I am willing to be flexible.
The upside to this is that Readers will know what to expect from my blog and my writing--everything is focused towards the SotWK AU. The downside is, if you don't like my AU concept, I probably won't have much to offer you on the Tolkien front since I don't practice that creative flexibility.
Which is why I'm so grateful there are people like you who appreciate that sort of thing and can be an audience for it!
But BACK TO YOUR QUESTION! (I apologize for going off-topic.)
I have some writer friends who also do a considerable amount of worldbuilding, headcanon writing, and OC creation for their fics! Please check their blogs out:
@meluiloth - Mirkwood/Silvan headcanons and OCs
@fishing4stars - Eryn Galen, young Thranduil, 4th Age Legolas
@toasterdrake - has their own Mirkwood AU, @acornsandoaktrees
@from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras - Rohan worldbuilding, some Rohan OCs but specializing in "obscure canons."
These are the blogs who write out their headcanons similar to the way that I do, but there are probably others out there I am just not Mutuals with.
Thank you again for this Ask, and bless you for your support of OCs and writers' worldbuilding!

hellooo :) just here to ask if you have a link to the original, non AI fucked up version of this drawing?
https://www.tumblr.com/disorganisedautodidact/767123525822726144
i’d like to reblog the actual art instead of whatever that nonsense is, but can’t seem to find it on silmaspens’ blog. would love some help here. thanks <3
(unless it was actually AI generated in which case. still unforgivable)
I do!
It's among these drawings. Thank you for bringing this up - it's good to have a link to the original on-hand (which I do because I searched for it last time this whole debacle came up just so I could be sure the art was stolen) so that the thief doesn't get away with it. But, just in case anyone wasn't aware,
THIS IMAGE WAS STOLEN.
The original creator is @silmaspens, a wonderful Silmarillion artist; all credit for the piece should go to them and not the thief who stole it and fed it through an AI filter. I believe that the blog did take the original post down (along with their other AI-altered posts), but there were a few reblogs. To anyone who reblogged it, please take it down so the AI-altered artwork is permanently removed - and reblog @silmaspen's original piece!

Hi!! For the https://www.tumblr.com/flowerandblood/759420341433122816/ask-game-for-readers-who-would-like-to-tell-their
🧠🧩💧
I will never get over the lovely epilogue of Healing Hands and the way you connected all the plots in the story so amazingly. You make the journey of reading very immersive and connected, your pacing is meticulous and carries on the emotions very well from one to the next. Your fics make me cry of the emotional intelligence and roundness of characters so close to my heart. It’s truly like reading the stories of friends, witnessing their journeys through trials, and a warm embrace at the end of each day.

I can't express my joy and gratitude for you sending me this - it still blows my mind that you love my story so much!
You've made my entire week, Snow!

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to answer this - you've done so many trick-or-treat asks, all of which are so cool and unique, so thank you for doing so!!
Second, WOW. This gave me chills. It's something I'd never thought of before, somehow, even though it's literally right up Sauron's alley - and undead are more than canon in Middle-Earth - so this theory blew my mind. It adds a whole new layer to the Necromancer's corruption: not only would Mirkwood's ecosystem be decayed and its civilizations disrupted, but the very sanctity of the Elves' lives ruined as well, it's so twisted. And I am here for it.
I'm here for your trick or treat!! Give me whatever strikes your fancy, whether that's a trick or a treat!
Tumblr media
SotWK AU Headcanon:
Undead creatures (a.k.a. zombies) were the worst weapon devised by the Necromancer that finally forced Thranduil and his family to abandon their home.
When the Necromancer first took over Dol Guldur in c.TA 1050 and his shadow began spreading through the forest, it began with corruption and poisons. Plants and animals grew sick and rapidly died from the black sorcery. Then came assaults from foul creatures, namely orcs, spiders, and other dangerous beasts never before seen in the Greenwood.
Thranduil and his family, working together, had the power ("magic") and strength to counter these evils. But even with constant attempts to flush out and "cleanse" Dol Guldur and the infested areas, they could not keep the beasts from respawning, or eliminate the shadow, as the mysterious Necromancer eluded them.
In TA 1195, when danger to his people grew too great and to preserve their quality of life, Thranduil ordered the evacuation of all Elves residing south of the Old Forest Road. Nearly the entire population moved to the north, and the regencies of Princes Gelir and Legolas (Dant-en-Aras and Galadal, respectively) were abandoned.
Tumblr media
Original Map credit to The Encyclopedia of Arda. Edits by @sotwk.
For nearly another century, Thranduil and Maereth themselves continued to reside in their palace of Bar Lasgalen, and with the help of their sons and some of their most valiant warriors, pushed back against the Necromancer's influence. They themselves served as a shield to prevent the corruption from conquering the entire forest, and from obliterating the south.
However, the Necromancer began to employ his most abominable magic: reanimating dying Elves (and other creatures) as his own slaves, essentially "zombies" that had the ability to further infect other living things. This desecration was too horrifying to the Elvenking and Elvenqueen, who could not find an immediate counter to it, and refused to let any of their "children" fall to such a fate. In TA 1350, they made the difficult choice to abandon their beloved home as well, and retreat to the north-east.
Tumblr media
Thus the entire southern forests of Eryn Galen, now Mirkwood, was abandoned, and future attempts to retake it failed. Thranduil and Maereth focused their powers on maintaining protective enchantments on the Lúthir, which flowed from the mountains, which then became the "Enchanted River" or Rhachló, the "Cursed River". The river barrier was powerful enough to prevent much of the Necromancer's filth and influence from even approaching its waters, keeping the Silvans safe.
The effectiveness of these protective enchantments decreased significantly after the death of the Elvenqueen in TA 2793, which was why Thorin's Company's experience was as bad as it was during their journey through Mirkwood. But without Thranduil's magic still holding the line, it could have been much worse!
Tumblr media
(VERY BELATED) HAPPY HALLOWEEN, @meluiloth! THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!
Sorry for geeking out and going too long here, but I know you appreciate a good spooky Mirkwood story! :)

This is such a beautiful poem - it's bittersweet but hopeful, I love the theme of finding anticipation in times of fading (and I find it interesting it ends on the darker note)! Thank you so much!

For the fashion designers: Green-elves (the guys who lived in Ossiriand during the first age) years of the trees? (Pre-Noldor influence).
Tumblr media
I don´t think the fashion of elvers changed as much as humans but I think especially the Nandor and Silvan´s (green elvers) kept their fashion stable - as you can see in my Legolas and Galion, who are both green elvers of the third age. - most noticeable difference with years of the tree and third age fashion for them is that less cleavage is shown less and there´s usually a decorate cape on third age fashion. - neither do I think they have a gendered fashion like some other groups, they pretty much wear what they want.
Their jewelry is usually made out of tree or hunting trophies but sometimes, if very fancy, bronze - mostly because it´s a soft metal and easier to work with than other kinds of metal.
For armor they use leather and reed vests - don't underestimate a well made reed vests they are warm and might just work better than plate armor at times - both because it´s what their resources permit but also because it´s good armor without slowing them down the way metal would.
Depicted: a wooden necklace tied with ribbons, a bronze earing, a charm with a clip to hold things (goes on the belt)

Oohh I think this is such a great idea and unique challenge!!
Could you do a heraldic for the House of Mirkwood (Oropher, Thranduil, Legolas?)
Tumblr media
lord of forest = Tauron: Sindarin
Purpure (purple) represents royalty, justice, sovereignty, and dignity.
Gules (red) represents warriors, martyrs, and military Strength.
Argent (silver/white) symbolizes generosity and peace.
The Stags represent wisdom and long life strength, courage, grace, nobility, harmony, and healing. When the stag is shown “at gaze” it becomes an emblem of one who will fight if provoked.
While three crowns can symbolize the Kalmar Union or Christianity, non of these things are relevant here so I choose it to symbolise the three only kings Mirkwood had
The unicorn represents both strength and courage, as well as virtuous dispositions. - also my design for Nahar is a unicorn and I HC that Oromë is the most prayed for Vala in Mirkwood.
The Falcon represents loyalty, courage, and hope.
Oropher is the first and biggest crown, and then down to Thranduil, and Legolas gets the smaller one as the last king.

Thranduil - Trick
Tumblr media
…And so the King of Autumn exchanged his fine wine for a far darker and richer drink.
I know it’s been a while since you asked this, but I finally found the time to sketch this out! It was difficult thinking of a costume befitting the elegant and serious King Thranduil, but eventually I decided that he’d do very well as a vampire. So, I gave him a beautiful lace shirt, some fangs, and a fair amount of decorative blood, as well as altering his crown to more resemble blood vessels. I hope you like it!

Trick!!!
merhaps a bilbo and a Frodo dressed up for Halloween?
( I don’t have a request for costumes go crazy)
Tumblr media
“Uncle, you don’t need that sheet,” Frodo pointed out. “You can turn invisible!”
“But that’s our little secret, laddie,” Bilbo said with a wink.
Thank you so much for this request - it was so fun to draw!! I ended up giving it some color just because I felt like it needed some, and I really love the way the fall palette turned out. Bilbo dressing up as a ghost was what came to my mind immediately (I think he’d enjoy the irony of the idea), but Frodo’s was a little trickier to pin down; I almost had him dress up as a cat, but I decided to be clever and have him do Wirt from Over The Garden Wall instead (I haven’t seen the show yet, but I plan to this year and know Elijah Wood voices Wirt!) I also couldn’t help sneaking my hobbits with tails headcanon in there :3
I hope you like it!

This story is wonderful! I love this universe you're building, and the stories you've written so far - they're dystopian, heartfelt, engaging, and haunting all at the same time, and your writing style really breathes life into everything. And I definitely get attached to the characters!
I got The Heart ending!
so, here's the second short story! set in the same world as passenger9027, but not directly connected to it : )
