can i be fr for a minute?? sending abuse to people online for holding different views than you is not activism and in fact actively hurts your cause. most people are not extreme in their viewpoints, you can give them a new perspective if you're willing to spend some time explaining shit. if someone is saying something you disagree with and you rush in there to condescend to them and call them disgusting and subhuman and dont even TRY to explain calmly why their views are harmful, they're going to shut you out instantly and double down on their views.

most people are simply genuinely ignorant to the issues they're talking about - they just pick their views up from the news and the world around them and express opinions because that's what every person does. if you run in there and tell them they're scum for it, what then? if someone does that to you, are you going to think "maybe i should do some research" or are you going to think "this person is an asshole, im blocking them." a lot of you think you're activists and then refuse to do any kind of actual WORK to support your cause.

Say what you want about tiktok but holy shit ppl there have been so on top of debunking israeli propaganda and sharing news from loved ones and discussing political actions you can take. My fyp is nothing but support and news for palestine - and i know that my algorithm is more a reflection of me and my behavior, but these videos all have 20k to 1b worth of likes alone. That gives me hope that more and more people are going to learn and try to do what they can.

i had a meeting w a really cool activist group today and i was worried what to wear bc i wasnt sure if the meeting was like formal but i also had a normal day of labwork and also wanted to look cool. so i was feeling self conscious about the end result of this internal conflict all day, and then i showed up to the meeting and one of the people was wearing a like gnc pirate fit. so there was nothing to fear

recently, my phone has lost it's ability to make phone calls. this is a pretty big issue cause i kinda need to make calls for work/school.

all support has to offer is a setting that doesn't show up in the menu.

I'm left with two options, either buy a new phone (fuck that expensive shit) or root the phone to install an opensource OS and hopefully find the option.

now i'm fairly skilled technically, and i'm fairly confident i can figure out how to root the phone which would be great given that it would save quite a bit of money.

I find a guide, which tells me that the manufacturer of my phone supports this. great! that should make this much easier! i check the site, and sure enough, it's there. I put off this 5 hour or so project for a week or two, cause that's what i do.

today I come back, check the same resource, and find that all trace of support has been erased. the same link still shows up in search, but just leads to a 404, meaning the manufacturers completely removed support in the matter of 2 weeks at most.

now there is another way. an "unofficial" method. however, upon checking this out, it requires another setting to be enabled. Looking into the settings, I find that the necessary setting is grayed out, unusable.

As far as I know, as someone with little experience with mobile OS and software in general, this means that to the best of my knowledge my only option now is to get a new phone.

Right to repair is a necessary right. It should come with owning a product. Upon buying something, anything, you should know that you will be able to use that item beyond when its parts break down and it's years out of date.

If manufacturers don't want to support their own products in the everlasting hunt for more profit, they should be required to make it accessible for people to fix, upgrade, and generally support their owned products in place of the manufacturer.
