It absolutely baffles me that there are people who genuinely disliked “The Prisoner” episode.

Like, we got Din hunting down those motherfuckers one by one in the most badass way possible. He went full on Batman disappearing in the flickering lights. The competence. The skill.

We got a glimpse of what his life was like before we were even introduced to him in the show. We got to meet people who worked with him, who know how skilled he is. You could see their insecurity a mile away with how they were treating him.

We got Bill Bur saying he wants to see Din’s eyes in the softest, most homo manner possible.

We got Din breaking out of a prison cell barely even 5 minutes after he was shoved in there.

We got Din taking out an entire group of security droids by himself.

And people didn’t like it??? Baffling. Truly baffling.

So Hoopla tells me I’m 50% of the way through oathbringer and also I know some spoilers (many spoilers) so aside from the best character in the entire series (Shallan) and the main character for this book (Dalinar), it is pretty fun for me that my two favorite characters so far are Moash and Elhokar. One is the moral North Star of this book so far (Moash) and the other is like a pitiful wet golden retriever who desperately wants to learn to roll over but is just flopping around on his back, which also makes me suspect of his actual desire to roll over because that isn’t a difficult thing to do (Elhokar). Incredible stuff. Very excited to see when I’m supposed to start hating Moash. Kinda doubting that will happen.

Vale forcing himself to be physically close to Marc when he can (arms around him in parc fermé, hand at the small of his back on podiums, tucking Marc to him after they've knocked champagne bottles, etc etc) and someone (Alex? GEORGE: I've found it really peaceful, when you're down in the water, and totally disconnected with the world. We live life at a thousand miles an hour, and when you get back home, you almost need something to help you lift your foot off the accelerator pedal, otherwise you'll just totally burn yourself out. And that's what I've found with doing a bit of freediving, getting into the water, outside of my comfort zone, but when I was there, focusing on my breathing, on the diving, on the fish around - came into contact with a barracuda last week, in the Carribbean! But you're not thinking about the racing, and I think finding that balance is really important.

Didn't felt like mentioning it immediately but shoutout to my sick and twisted brain for getting so triggered by an unexpected Christmas parade that I ended up havin the absolute worst panic attack of my entire life (potentially the only real one? I've had a couple other episodes I thought of as panic attacks but they were not even close to that so who knows) to the point where I spent the very last day of my 30th year on this earth in the ER, good times, good times 😊

Yes THANK YOU!!! Lestat is polar opposite of manipulative. He's too in the moment impulsive to manipulate anything. Okay, fine, he can be a tiny bit manipulative but it's such basic shit. Like orchestrating his first meeting with Louis and their first time. But he basically blows his manipulative wad on that. Next time he tries to manipulate Louis, he ends up in an unwanted open relationship with Louis still refusing to feed on humans. 😂🤣 Armand and Louis are totally projecting on someone who is essentially an evil himbo.

I don't know if I'd say he's the polar opposite of manipulative, haha, I think he can definitely try to manuever situations in his favour - like cutting off Antoinette's finger to give to Claudia under the guise that he's killed her when he's actually turned her / is about to turn her - but he's definitely too impulsive, volatile and bad at hiding his emotions to really manipulate characters or situations in the way almost every other character in the show is capable of (Armand, Louis and Daniel especially).

Lestat's power is felt in brute force, and that tends to be how he wields it more so than through strategising and manipulation. Like, they're all playing 4D chess with strategies to checkmate each other, and Lestat's just going to knock the board over when he starts to lose, haha.
