If I had a nickel for every time I had some kind of relationship with a queer woman (dating, situationship, talking stage, etc) that got significantly negatively affected because I found out she was doing unethical backyard dog breeding as a hobby without taking the proper precautions or doing health clearances or registrations, I would have 3 nickels, which isn't a lot, but why the fuck does this keep happening??? This is such an amazing piece of writing! It makes me want to explore and think and take notes on all its lore drops. It really makes me want to think about how a D&D game would work for this kind of game world. Or even designing its own system since you have assigned stats based on colored roses. My brain is churning with game mechanics now and how to weave them into the lore why have you done this to me-

this is apropos of nothing but thinking about this interaction between luke and penelope made me think of another similar interaction between another pairing of mine, the doctor and donna. there's just something a lil special about frenemies to lovers and also there's something about this exact specific interaction that leaves me gnawing at the bars of my enclosure. if I had a nickel for every time my ship had one of them making out with the other through a phone I would have ten cents, which isn't a lot but it's weird (great) it happened to me twice

Their voice is noticably deeper/heavier as a 'bad guy' character

There's another storybeat where they go "i'm a monster" even though admission of such makes it so that isn't the case because it means they're aware of what's wrong and feel guilty about it

"The person you knew is gone" [LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER SOUND] (buzzer was pressed by their friends)

"They're not my friends; I don't care about them" (cares so much that they hesitate to leave them to die)

Eventually realizes that even if their life was a lie it was still true to them and others

Then proceeds to embrace that lie and the truth which resolves their crash out arc

At the end of the arc the place where everything happens starts falling apart because the person who maintained it is no longer present (either dead or gone)

The fandom ships them with a blue character with associations to uncanny knowledge and the moon and it is So gay

im listening to a podcast about 18th century politics and all the talk of kings and their different approaches to balancing exercise of power, reforms, pleasing the nobles, and so on, it reminded me of how funny the bg3 politics of gortash are. like :

1) spend years social climbing and acquiring a lot money, then manipulate the nobles into ceding power by creating an artificial threat and posing as the only protector against it, so that they will not only not oppose the takeover but wholeheartedly support it

2) immediately kill them all

this is a fantastic way to speedrun being crowned and executed on the same day, but i guess the sicko that he is might be into that sort of thing. but if you’re a king i would recommend a different approach
