This reblog probably won't reach as far but one of the thoughts relating to this is like... you ever wonder how Pacifist!Martlet getting Jevil's carousel attack (arguably one of his hardest bullet patterns) was greenlit in 7 years of development? Like, an abnormally hard bullet attack compared most of her attack patterns (second hardest, imo, being her junk toss pattern, which, while annoying, is nowhere near as hard) and it's taken direct inspiration from a secret boss?

Notice how some of Kitsune!Ceroba's attack patterns (specifically the phase 3 opener, where she twirls her staff around and causes fireballs to rain from the sky) need you to memorize the attack instead of observing and reacting, how some of her telegraphs tend to not be clear enough in paths when compared to... say, Asriel? You could argue that Asriel has his bullet barrage attacks in phase 2, but those attacks don't last for too many turns and they're all generally uniform enough to treat them as one very big projectile in most cases

In fact, most of Ceroba's (pre-mother's love) attacks in general very much feel like you need to memorize them, or have a very high skill requirement (i.e. the Cherry Blossom Pile pattern requiring you to make tight movements)

The thing is, most of Yellow's attack patterns tend to have strong openers and not be an easy opener -> ramped up second turn like in base UT (best example: Undyne - pacifist turn 1 starts with 3 up arrows as a tutorial, before upping it with different patterns; Undying puts the 'tutorial' and the first 'true' bullet pattern into the same attack)

I think that's part of the "sans effect" I'm referring to, as Sans himself explicitly states that his opener is completely out of the norm. ("Huh. Always wondered why people never use their strongest attack first.") But because that jumpscare attack was so iconic, it's the kind of fight we remember the most, so it becomes our baseline perception for Undertale's difficulty

what is your favorite and least favorite id of ghost?

so. I really like all of ghost’s ids. theyre all incredibly interesting and fun to explain the intricacies of, especially when it comes to the concept of “mirror world constants”, but if i had to choose what my favorite was it would undeniably be their Bad end.

Bad End Ghost, proper name “Vessel of the Radiance”, commonly referred to by me as just “Vessel Ghost”, is a doozy when compared to all the other IDs because��

Ghost is not in control.

to put it simply: Ghost is in the backseat, the Radiance�� and yes I mean the Sun Herself— is in the driver’s. Ghost willingly relinquished its body to the Radiance, and although they do gain back control occasionally, they’re still heavily influenced by her. did i mention the radiance is an entity similar to carmen in my lore? no? well now you know

To sum up the story, after who knows how long of staying strung up in the dark as a living prison, Ghost just went “fuck this” and made a deal with the Radiance. Bloodshed ensues.

It’s also incredibly uncanny to everyone else on the bus, because 1. Why are their eyes like that 2. Why is it emoting so much and 3. Why is it a moth.

Funnily enough Vessel Ghost is also my least favorite ID. On the account that it takes up so much of my brain space and because I can’t figure out how their build would work for the life of me.

My calc classmate (who is on this server) offered himself as a live target practice

He had a totem.

This is not an exaggeration i have a sword that can one shot the wither, the ender dragon, and several modded bosses that Aren't L_Ender's Cataclysm bosses (because they're boring and have a damage cap) up to mobs with 5k hp........ and I can make infinitr copies of said sword.

And I can also slot The Sword into a bow that shoots tools.

Or use The Sword with a gauntlet that can randomly chuck swords from wherever Sakuya Touhou Style

And that's not even mentioning my other sword that can bring every disease upon you if it doesn't kill you first (it can kill the Wither in a single hit)
