*walks back into BATFAMILY fic fandom eleven months later, holding a Starbucks cup* I'm right on time, I don't know what you mean. AND I have returned with the fruits of a fandom that continues to be incredible at providing the good stuff! Sometimes it's still hard for me to grasp just how much fic has exploded onto the scene in the 10+ years I was away from DC, that there was some incredible fic back when I was into the fandom, but coming back to actual mountains of it has continued to blow my mind every time and made me love these characters even more than I already did.
It's almost overwhelming, honestly, how much good fic there is to read, so let me scream at you guys and shove links at you because I'm having a great time here and I want to drag all of you into it with me, COME HAVE FEELINGS ABOUT RIDICULOUSLY DRESSED SUPERHERO COMICS WITH ME, it's all fun and games, I swear! (Okay, but at least you'll have a good time crying about the Bats, I can give you that much at least.)
BATFAM FIC RECS - BABY DICK IS THE CUTEST GREMLIN ROBIN I'M NOT HEARING ANY ARGUMENTS: ā¦ sleepless, perfect duty by glassofwater, dick & bruce, 4.3k Ā Ā Ā The choice to forgo sleep, to forgo Dick Grayson, has never been easier. Not when the other option is Robin. ā¦ Parallels in Reverse by rosetteanon, dick & damian & bruce, time travel, 2.2k Ā Ā Ā Damian travels to a dimension that's a little bit behind his own. There, he meets a younger Dick Grayson, and a happier Bruce Wayne. ā¦ string theory by wingdingery, dick & bruce & damian, time travel, 8k Ā Ā Ā When Bruce and Dick get transported to an unfamiliar Gotham, it only takes running into a different Batman and Robin for Bruce to realize two things: one, theyāre in the future; and twoāin the future, Dick Grayson is dead. ā¦ Rooftop Meetings by orphan_account, dick & bruce & leslie & shrike & cast, 10.2k wip Ā Ā Ā When Two-Face almost beats a newly minted Robin to death, Bruce decides that the life of a vigilante is too dangerous for a kid. This becomes the catalyst for a series of events that leads twelve-year-old Dick Grayson down a darker path. ā¦ It Could Stay This Simple (Just Stay This Little) by coconuticecream (magspie), dick & bruce, 3k Ā Ā Ā Maybe claiming legal guardianship over a child at 22, and so soon after becoming Batman, spread Bruce thinner than he'd realized. Maybe Bruce was less equipped to parent a third grader than he'd thought. Maybe Bruce should do more to invite Dick into his life. Maybe Bruce should hug Dick, or promise he'll do better by Dick, or tell Dick that he loves Dick more than he thought himself capable. (or: bruce and dick practice self care together.) ā¦ No One Said Flying Was Easy by Wrtrmd2, dick & bruce & alfred, 51.1k Ā Ā Ā Eight year old Richard Grayson has just watched his parents fall to their deaths. Hurting and alone, he struggles to adjust to the new life he's thrown into. Bruce Wayne takes him in, but seems to have no idea what he's doing. Can they help each other put the pieces of their broken lives back together?
ā¦ Zitka by PechoraFlow, dick & bruce, 2.7k Ā Ā Ā After Dick's parents fall to their deaths, he is left clinging to the few things he has left: one of them being Zitka, his stuffed elephant. ā¦ your heart is the only place that i call home by emavee, dick & bruce, talon!dick, 6.3k Ā Ā Ā There shouldnāt be any Talons that are this small, this young, but thereās one standing right in front of him. And that shouldnāt be Bruceās soulmark blooming on his too-pale skin, but it isāthereās nothing else it could be. Batman really should know better than to bring a Talon home with him, but here he is, wrapping up the boy in a set of meta-cuffs and tucking him into the backseat of the car. ā¦ Hostage by EternalLife, dick & bruce & alfred, 3.9k Ā Ā Ā Dick Grayson is 10 years old. Batman is nowhere to be seen, and Robin has a gun to his head. ā¦ The Mother-Son Dance by cometoastop, bruce & dick, 1.8k Ā Ā Ā Dick is upset he doesnāt have a mother to bring him to his schoolās mother-son dance, so Bruce offers to bring him instead.
BATFAM FIC RECS - ADULT BATSON AND BATDAD ARE MY KRYPTONITE, I FOLD LIKE WET CARDBOARD FOR THEM: ā¦ Permission To Pause by farawayfiction (JJ_Thomas), dick & bruce, 1.9k Ā Ā Ā Bruce pulled the phone from his pocket. A text from Dick was waiting for him on the notification screen. ā¦ oathbreaker by one_step_closer_to_death, dick & bruce & cast, 2.3k Ā Ā Ā Stranded and on his last leg, Batman might be fighting his last battle yet. But Bruce promised he was coming back home and this was one promise he wasn't going to break yet. ā¦ Judge and Juror by CamsthiSky, dick & bruce & alfred, 6.6k Ā Ā Ā Anonymous asked: I was just wondering if you would like to write a story set during bvs and how Nightwing could be involved there? ā¦ When You Don't Have an Umbrella by TheSilencer, dick & bruce, read the tags, 1.2k Ā Ā Ā Dick Grayson and Batman talk about the rain. Except they're not actually talking about the rain. ā¦ riding the blues by TheResurrectionist, dick & bruce & oc, 3.9k Ā Ā Ā āWhatās in there, anyway?ā Charles asked, rolling down the window. āLooks heavy.ā āA few million dollars' worth of electroshock weapons,ā the kid said, dead-serious. After a moment, a grin stretched across his face. āNah, Iām just fucking with you. Itās old clothes, mostly.ā ā¦ Lexically Homeless by nighhtwing (divineauthor), dick & bruce, 1.1k Ā Ā Ā Dick, Bruce, and their relationship with language and each other.
BATFAM FIC RECS - EVERYBODY LOVES DICK: ā¦ One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by sElkieNight60, dick & jason & tim & damian & bruce & alfred, de-aged!dick, 17k wip Ā Ā Ā Dick was twenty-eight. The boy in the mirror most certainly was not. ā¦ Weight of Judgment by Dragonbat, dick & bruce & alfred, 1.6k Ā Ā Ā As leader of the Teen Titans, Dick had to make a difficult decision. Now he's dealing with the fallout. ā¦ Robins, titmice, and other spring birds by Fleur_de_Violette, dick & jason & bruce, 8.5k Ā Ā Ā There are a lot of things Jason doesnāt understand in the dynamic of the Wayne manor, despite being here for nine months. Maybe a rescue turning a little more dangerous than it should have been for Robin will help him see things clearly? ā¦ bachelor parties of different sorts by cedarcat, dick & jason & barbara & cass & bruce (& background dick/babs), read the tags, 4.4k Ā Ā Ā Dick and Barbara are engaged. There's just one complicating factor that Dick has to deal with. He'd rather avoid it. aka: the one where dick handles past trauma poorly, finds the support he needs in his family, and comes out better for it. ā¦ Kitchen Talk by Smitty, dick & alfred, 3.1k Ā Ā Ā Dick Grayson gets some good advice in the hours before Nightwing #45. ā¦ Teach Me to Dream by CamsthiSky, dick & bruce & alfred & leslie & cast, time travel, 29k wip Ā Ā Ā Dickās eleven. Not thirteen and eager to prove himself. Not seventeen and mourning a brother. Not nineteen and wishing his best friend wasnāt dead and Bruce would look him in the eyes. Heās only eleven. So why does he remember all of that? ā¦ like the back of my hand by Jo_B, dick & bruce & conner & dick/babs, 2k Ā Ā Ā āCut it out.ā āWould you stay still, please?ā Dick swats Bruceās hand away and starts pushing himself up. āYāknow, in the wild, bats eat their kids.ā āThatās not even a little bit true and you know it.ā ā¦ idea man by vaporeon_ninja, dick & bruce & jason & damian, 8.3k Ā Ā Ā Ask him. As if it were that easy. As if Damian hasnāt only just barely begun to respect him, and would immediately burn all the ground theyāve covered if Dick so much as implied he wanted to help him get through something. Yeah, fat chance. No, Dick canāt ask him. But he canāt just keep doing nothing, either. So he decides on a third option- just start trying anything. ā¦ One of His Own by DawnsEternalLight, dick & bruce & damian & alfred, 1.3k Ā Ā Ā Dick's freshly back from Spyral and apartment hunting. Little Does he know his dad has already got that covered. ā¦ Now That's a Lot of Damage by Sanctioned_Chaos, dick & bruce & jason & tim & cass & cast, 5k wip Ā Ā Ā On a joint operation with the Justice League, Dick's family falls victim to a particularly malignant curse and he's the only one who can free them. Consequently, it makes him the subject of their suffering.
BATFAM FIC RECS - JASON TODD IS AN ASSHOLE CAT, I'M GONNA THROW HIM AT DICK BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY (AND MAYBE SOME OF HIS OTHER SIBLINGS TOO): ā¦ All the Roofs of Uncertainty by Kieron_ODuibhir, dick & jason & bruce & leslie & cast, 70k Ā Ā Ā For all the blood on his hands, Red Hood was never just a villain. And Nightwing never gives up on family, not for good. (Or: The one where Dick bleeds a lot and Jason argues with everybody.) ā¦ Red In My Ledger by WordsAblaze, dick & jason, 1.1k Ā Ā Ā day five, where jason realises a little too late that dick isnāt an intruder breaking into his safehouse... ā¦ Fixed Points and Fluxes by i_am_the_imposter_syndrome, dick & jason (& bruce), 16.5k wip Ā Ā Ā When a mission involving a mysterious sorcerer goes wrong, Dick and Jason find themselves out of time and place in a Gotham thatās not quite their own. Protocol dictates they lie low and avoid unnecessary interactions as much as possible until they can get home, but their family here is fractured, and if thereās one thing thatās constant across universes, itās that Bats have each otherās backs. ā¦ Too Close to Call by Dragonbat, dick & jason & bruce, 5.8k Ā Ā Ā Summary: Things go horribly wrong when Robin thinks he can bring in Two-Face by himself. Now Nightwingās life is on the line and one bad decision might spell disaster!
BATFAM FIC RECS - DICK AND DAMIAN WERE THE BEST BATMAN & ROBIN, I'M NOT HEARING ARGUMENTS ABOUT THAT EITHER: ā¦ Won't You Stay A While? by fishfingersandjellybabies, dick & damian & tim, 2.8k Ā Ā Ā Ric did not expect to find a child sitting on the hood of his cab. Damian did expect to get his brother back. ā¦ The Universe Doesnāt Get to Take This by fishfingersandjellybabies, dick & damian & bruce, 1.9k Ā Ā Ā āAnd theyāre so important that you donāt come home to check on your recently un-amnesiac brother? And here, I thought I was your favorite.ā ā¦ Just a Little TLC by fishfingersandjellybabies, dick & damian, 1.7k Ā Ā Ā Dick was not sick. Really. He was fine. Fine!
BATFAM FIC RECS - BATKIDS ALL HAVE MANY SIBLINGS AND THEY'RE ALL PETTY ASSHOLES AND/OR WONDERFUL BABIES AND I LOVE THEM WITH MY WHOLE BEING: ā¦ The Long Way Home by itsnatalie, jason & tim & bruce & dick & damian & cast, 111.6k Ā Ā Ā With Jason tentatively back in the Batfamily, things are going pretty well for him--except for the whole thing with Tim. But who gives a shit about Tim Drake? But when Jason and Tim are pulled into a frightening race for their lives inside a labyrinth that's out to kill them, they may have to look past their differences just to stay alive. Maybe along the way, they'll discover they aren't as different as they thought, and family comes in many different forms. ā¦ IRIS Log #1548 by deadchannelradio, jason & cass & barbara & bruce & steph & tim & damian & roy & dick, 8.5k Ā Ā Ā A Disclaimer From Your Friendly Neighborhood Oracle: The following is a transcript of Patrol Communications Audio written by state of the art transcription technology, IRIS (Interpretation of Recorded Intelligence Software). IRIS was created to provide easily searchable records, automatically, and eliminate the need to transcribe each patrol audio log manually. That being said, IRIS is still experimental, and may not always be entirely accurate. ā¦ Real Housewives (sort of) of Gotham by brandywine421, dick & selina & bruce & damian & jason & roy & talia & dinah & harley/ivy & helena & cast, no powers au, 5.9k Ā Ā Ā Selina is curious to a fault but she has a twinge of concern at her almost-stepson's name popping up on her personal line. They were allies and frenemies, depending on who was Brucie's favorite pet at the moment but he usually texts birthday wishes and xoxo's instead of actual voice contact. "Is everyone okay?" ā¦ War! by Smitty, dick & barbara & tim & cast, 1.9k Ā Ā Ā What 'entertainment' was Nightwing talking about in Nightwing #44? Innuendo. ā¦ Nowhere Safer by lurkinglurkerwholurks, dick & jason & tim & bruce, 9.6k Ā Ā Ā What's a Robin to do when the nightmares don't stop? ā¦ Love like Cats by Laroyena, alfred & bruce & dick & jason & julia & cast, 20.7k Ā Ā Ā āThis takes crazy cat people to a whole new level,ā his old friend told him. āSo this old family your dad took care of, they left their fortune to a cat.ā Alfred Pennyworth, ex-special agent of the British Secret Intelligence Service, moves to America to become a butler. A cat butler. ā¦ Minimum Height Requirement by Drag0nst0rm, bruce & dick & jason & tim & damian & cass & steph, 66.4k Ā Ā Ā Somewhere in the multiverse, there's a universe where letting his children dress up in capes and follow him into vigilantism seems like a good idea. Bruce is determined that it isn't going to be this one . . . Despite his children's repeated attempts to convince him otherwise. (Or: "When you're eighteen, you can do what you want. Until then, no capes.")
ā¦ Family Crisis by librarylexicon, bruce & dick & jason & tim & cass & steph & leslie & cast, 85.8k Ā Ā Ā At the close of the gang war, Batman uncovers an attempted deception concerning the life of his former protĆ©gĆ© Stephanie Brown, and suddenly nothing is as important as his family. She was Oracle and Oracle couldnāt falter or be distracted by personal feelings, not when multiple lives depended on her coordinating teams across the city, the country, the globe. There was no time to worry about Nightwing or his radio silence. Too much going on to pester him. He got out, said he wasnāt majorly wounded, and she needed to trust him. After all he was Nightwing. Vigilante since he was ten. Dick didnāt need her worrying in his ear while trying to stay alive. They needed to be professional because anything else could end in death. ā¦ to my word now I'll be true by theragingstorm, dick/ babs, NSFW, 4.7k Ā Ā Ā A chance night becomes something more. ā¦ Scar Tissue by Smitty, dick/babs, 2k Ā Ā Ā Some scars heal more easily than others. ā¦ Time Enough by Smitty, dick/babs, 1k Ā Ā Ā Barbara asked him for time.

i keep saying i'm not going to pay this show any more attention and I keep coming back with more thoughts and i decided to inflict them on all of y'all so here goes
hot take: the brad/hotshots storyline isn't inherently bad. it was entertaining. it was fun and campy, classic 911. i love it when shows get a bit meta. we stay sillay.
however it all falls completely flat, and here's why:
they butchered the main storylines they had set up at the end of s7 ā Hen and Karen vs Ortiz (and Gerrard), the 118 vs Gerrard vs Tommy (don't play, they wrote it out with big block letters), Bobby's suicidal ideation, abrupt resignation and relationship conflict with Athena, not to mention NDE. the only storyline they seem to have spent any time on is Eddie and Chris ā thank fucking fuck, some good food for Eddie.
they have disregarded previously established side characters in favour of developing Brad Torrence. where the fuck is Ravi? where's Sue, where's Linda? why is Josh only there as a mouthpiece to deliver a cringeworthy self-congratulatory speech praising Ryan Murphy's previous ā and still DEEPLY biphobic ā work?
the hotshots storyline of 8x07 and 8x08 should have taken place WAY later in the season: only after spending time giving their existing characters and relationships the focus they so sorely need.
Hen and Karen and their struggles with Mara being with Chimney and Maddie ā where was the conflict between Hen and Chimney? blink and you miss it in 8x01. why was everything wrapped up so fucking quickly in 8x04? the pacing of that episode was INSANE. they could have drawn it out until the mid-season finale, and ended it on a positive note of Mara coming home.
Maddie and Chimney have had almost nothing all of 8a ā what looked like a conversation about family planning, addressing their past issues, deciding to stick together and make it work this time, it was building up to something so good ā and it crumbled before my eyes with the accidental pregnancy reveal. because we're dealing with teenagers who don't know how birth control works, not two grown adults in their 40s with a history of PPD. be so for fucking real.
and then: why bring back a homophobic, racist, sexist character, have him act EXACTLY like his old self ā including throwing a subtle slur at his old subordinate who's just come out of the closet ā and then reduce him to a cartoonish villain ā did they perhaps realise that bringing back Gerrard was a big mistake? that no one wants to see this type of villain anymore? that his return undercut the justice of him getting fired by the LAFD for his bigoted behaviour? much to ponder.
Athena and Bobby nearly died, they lost their house in a fire (hello? ptsd flashbacks? no? okay.), then Athena nearly died AGAIN, but we don't need to linger on any of this. back to work, you two. Bobby, you get your firehouse back. Athena, back to doing bad cop shit, i guess. (they had a nice relationship moment with the house hunting and deciding to build etc in 8x04, and that's about it).
Buck had a consistent storyline between 8x01 - 8x04: struggling being under Gerrard, getting to work with Bobby again, and finally getting his captain back on a permanent basis. then we got 8x05 with Tommy ā an episode dedicated on the intimacy and depth of their relationship ā which they then completely fucked it up in 8x06. yes, the "past connection" reveal was a terribly done messy retcon of the entirety of s1 if you ask me, and a disservice to all three characters: Buck, Tommy, and Abby. the backlash from the GA following the breakup speaks for itself. but they then went to make a big joke of Buck coping with the breakup in 8x07 and 8x08. because we can't be serious about anything, ever. and again ā I get it. it's the weewoo show. but don't tell me they haven't previously done well thought-out, touching storytelling. anyway, this got a little derailed because i'm still so fucking salty ā the bottom line is, however they butchered Buck's storyline, at least he's had something meaningful.
the only other main that has had a meaningful storyline in 8a is Eddie. they've shown him struggling with being away from Christopher in almost every episode. i can't say i'm a big fan of the way 8x06 went for him (literally. enough with the movie references. tim minear have a fucking original thought for once). but I'm loving where his storyline is headed. that was a good 'cliffhanger' if you will. go back to your roots baby! go reconcile with your son ā own up to your mistakes! talk to him about his mother! go to father-son therapy together! -> so much wishful thinking, y'all. we'd be lucky to get 1/10th of this on the show, but whatever.
tldr: no one gives a flying fuck about hotshots or brad because while we love the silly weewoo show, we need something to chew on before you toss us a half-baked dessert. to quote lou ferrigno jr, i am not satisfied.

how do you feel about the whole "you always wanted more" line that got cut? at first i was wondering why they did that because adora didn't want more until it made me think "huh, what if prime was just running on catra's memories and didn't actually know adora?" but i'm curious as to what you think
OH MY GOD I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED THIS. i am such a sucker for the cut STC script. back in late 2020 & early 2021 i had a twitter layout based on āthat little spot on the roof that only they knew aboutā because S3 is my favorite:
even better, i have another old twitter fancam saved from around that time too that used that screenshot of the script in the beginning. it was by the username yoosene but is now long gone, so i reuploaded it to imgur here (the hands part, iām going insaneā¦)!
anyway, as for interpretations, it was absolutely to manipulate & guilt-trip adora. i recently saw someone say (i donāt remember where though, sorry) that he was torturing both of them by setting up that nasty fight against both of their wills and had planned to kill catra all along ā despite saying he wouldnāt right after she rescued glimmer and was imprisoned for it, in my opinion there was an unspoken āyetā even though he did technically say that word but you know what i mean; āyou will be of use to me, and then everyone from your blighted planet, including yourself, will be destroyed.ā
thatās the thing about what the show was trying to convey through her stay on primeās ship via glimmerās desperate pleas, isnāt it? her illusion of power was only ever temporary. once she no longer had anything of value to serve, what would she be worth? how could she have genuinely believed that he wanted to save her, of all living beings, from the curse of humanity & will of consciousness? what makes one individual different to an omnipotent god compared to countless others across the universe throughout space and time? i truly believe that he was subtly mocking her when he talked of her being āexalted, raised up above the other wretched creatures of [her] home world.ā
i was actually trying to find another five by five takes quote about this, because mentioning them is always an obligation for me, but surprisingly i didn't really find anything about how catra had worked her way up to prime's recognized single subordinate (only that moment of reflection afterward, which is just this entire short video), and was under the false impression with a cocky & confident attitude that her position meant something for her safety & survival; i'm mostly referring to this moment:
the horde's the horde...even in space. as long as i'm of value to horde prime, i've got a place in this world. i can work my way up here, just like i did before.
actually yāknow whatā¦ iām going to tag @horde-princess because this is starting to dive into religious meta which is likeā¦ her whole gimmick thingy. we would be blessed (pun intended) to see your take on this writing that never made it to the show, if you havenāt given it already!
now this is veering too far off from the original point after getting sidetracked. the tone of those quotes in the alternate script is (fake) pity, and horde prime was entertained by the struggles of mere mortals. to make adora a failure of what she represented would surely force her to give up she-ra to him, because what would even be the point anymore of living up to expectations if she couldnāt save catra first & foremost (thatās something that she struggled with since initially leaving the horde over three years ago due to how catra made her feel about supposedly breaking their childhood promiseā¦ but itās a story for another post)?
i donāt doubt that your thought process is at least partially right too though, anon. prime didnāt read adoraās mind thoroughly at any point, so itās entirely possible that he just read off catraās intense feelings of abandonment & betrayal. that being said, if he really did see all as he claimed, maybe he was able to recreate an objectively accurate collection of events and knows what really happened and what the intentions behind certain actions were. i also wonder if catra secretly knew deep down that adoraās defection wasnāt directly about her but just couldnāt admit it until she had time to deeply reflect on it during ācorridors.ā
iāll leave this messy, unorganized post with an amazingly relevant gif set made by an editor whose work on here i really enjoy:
as i said a long time ago, you just had to be there on november 19th 2020 when that excerpt was released because the hype was crazy!

Thank you so much for answering this! There's no need to apologize for a delay at all :) I know I'm late in responding myself, so I'm going to tag you here as well @asherlockstudy in the hopes you'll see this.
You've made some great points, so thank you for giving me the chance to think about all this again. I still think I have more thoughts and unanswered questions, though, so I tried to respond...and then wrote the below, which is basically an excessively long meta of my own thoughts on when John may or may not have realized. I'd be happy to hear what you think if you'd like to reply again, but there's no pressure :)
First, thank you for linking to your meta about "John's choices." It's been a while since I've read it, but I read through it again and I'm really glad you explained the scene between Sherlock and John in the entryway to 221B at the end of TEH. I'm intrigued by your point about how John tries to get Sherlock to open up in this scene. Relatedly, I agree with your comments on this meta about the train car scene. In that scene, Sherlock deliberately led John to believe that they were both about to die in the hopes that if John thought those were his last moments, he would finally open up about his feelings for Sherlock, admit that he was in love with Sherlock and not with Mary, and agree to leave Mary for Sherlock. But Sherlock misjudged the situation. John still wasn't prepared to face his feelings at that point. For John, the confrontation in the train car came too soon after Sherlock's return and before he'd had enough time to process how he truly felt about Sherlock being back. Sherlock was heartbroken when he realized that John wasn't prepared to open up and say more than he did at the graveyard, but when he saw this was the case, he revealed that he'd already turned off the bomb and used humor to diffuse the situation (which is a strategy Sherlock uses several times in S3 when he and John get themselves into emotional situations that he thinks they're unprepared to handle).
I especially appreciate your point about the entryway scene because your reading of this scene suggests that John might have only needed another day or two after that tense moment in the train car before he actually would be prepared to talk to Sherlock about his feelings. This fits so well with John's earlier behavior in TEH! When Sherlock first revealed himself to John at the Landmark, John was furious with him, and they clearly didn't part on good terms that evening. But the next day, less than 24 hours later, John had already cooled off and was counting down the hours until he could visit Sherlock after work. So perhaps John felt very similarly during and after the train car scene. At first everything happens too quickly for him, and he isn't prepared to reveal how he feels. But a day later, he's had time to process and he's ready to have a more honest conversation with Sherlock, if Sherlock seems receptive.
But of course, Sherlock doesn't understand this. Sherlock thinks that John gave him his answer in the train car and that John still isn't prepared to face his feelings for him and leave Mary. Part of the problem, I think, is that Sherlock never seems to have realized that John tried to visit him at 221B the day after he returned to London. John tried to visit Sherlock that day after his shift at the surgery, but he was kidnapped by Magnussen's men before he got up to the flat. And when John came to visit Sherlock after he rescued him from the bonfire, John didn't make any references to his earlier attempt to come to 221B. It seems like Sherlock was away from the flat and out with Molly when John came by anyway, so he couldn't have observed John on the pavement. So Sherlock never seems to know about this. He never realizes that all John needed was just one day to cool off. As a result, Sherlock closes himself off from John in the entryway scene, trying to mask how he feels as an act of self-preservation.
I am less convinced that John already knows about Sherlock's feelings by this point, though. After all, Moriarty kidnapped John to get to Sherlock back in TGG, and that didn't seem to prompt any epiphanies for John. John didn't seem to realize what Sherlock and Moriarty both had by the end of the pool sceneāthat Sherlock was in love with John, and that Moriarty could destroy Sherlock by either hurting John or damaging Sherlock and John's relationship.
I agree that by the time the stag night rolls around in TSOT, John has started to feel desperate and would be fully willing to cheat on Mary with Sherlock (or perhaps even leave her for him) if he felt that Sherlock gave him the go-ahead. During the stag night, Sherlock carefully tracks their alcohol intake because he believes that John truly wants to be with Mary and he's determined not to mess this up for John by allowing the two of them to cross their carefully-maintained boundaries with each other. John, however, has other ideas. John purposely spikes Sherlock's drink and takes extra shots himself in a deliberate effort to get them both drunk so that he can make a move on Sherlock. When they're back at 221B and playing the "forehead detectives" game, John does exactly that. But even though Sherlock seems relaxed and comfortable, John doesn't think Sherlock gives him enthusiastic encouragement, and he backs down. (LIST explains this in their meta here.)
To me, all of this indicates that John thinks there's hope that Sherlock might return his feelings, but he still has a lot of doubts. John has never gotten what he sees as a clear answer from Sherlock, so the fact that he thinks they both need to be drunk before he can try to make a move reveals that John doesn't feel completely confident about this. I think this likely demonstrates both that John isn't completely sure how Sherlock feels about him, and that John still isn't comfortable with what his love for Sherlock means for his own sexuality. John seems to have a lot of internalized biphobia in S3 (which is a whole other topic). And even though John knows that he isn't in love with Mary the way he is with Sherlock, and even though he might feel conflicted about settling down with her, he also seems reluctant to let go of his chance at a heteronormative lifestyle with Mary unless Sherlock is completely clear with him.
I've seen a few other people also point to that moment at the wedding reception, after Sherlock reveals that Mary is pregnant, as the moment when John finally realizes that Sherlock is in love with him. I think that's possible, but there's one thing that happens after this that really, really throws me off.
It's the scene between John and Lestrade at 221B in HLV after Sherlock escapes from the hospital. John says to Lestrade, "But why would he care? Heās Sherlock. Who would he bother protecting?" as he sits down in his own chair. And John looks genuinely confused when he say this. John!! In that moment, John still doesn't seem to realize that he is the most important person in the world to Sherlock and that Sherlock would do anything to protect him. Perhaps giving us even more evidence of this, Sherlock calls John's phone a few moments later, and John doesn't immediately answer. If we're following the phone = heart metaphor, then Sherlock is trying to reach out to John's heart, but John still doesn't get it and isn't immediately receptive. ("Answer your phone, I've been calling you!")
I agree that the scene between Sherlock, John, and Mary at 221B after they return from Leinster Gardens is an incredibly important Johnlock scene, but I read John's actions in this scene a little differently from how you do. It seems to me that John still doesn't realize that Sherlock is in love with him, and in this scene John feels furious at himself for being so in love with Sherlock when he believes that Sherlock will never feel the same way about him. John is angry at himself for never being able to let Sherlock go, no matter how hard he tries. Making things even worse, John thinks, when he tried to move on from Sherlock and find someone who wasn't like Sherlock, someone who could give him the safe, heteronormative lifestyle that he thinks he's supposed to want, the whole thing blew up in his face and led to this awful situation. So when John grits out "Always your way," to Sherlock, I think he's expressing his frustration that no matter what happens, he will always do things Sherlock's way. John is disgusted and angry at himself for being so hopelessly in love with Sherlock and unable to move on when he thinks that Sherlock will never love him back.
I do think it's possible that John finally figures things out at some point in HLV, though, and that's because of the waterfall scene in TAB. In that scene, we get this exchange:
Sherlock: Thank you, John. John: Since when do you call me āJohnā? Sherlock: (smiling tenderly) Youād be surprised. John: (smiling back at him) No, I wouldnāt.
As you and @ivyblossom said here, this is the moment when John reveals that he knows Sherlock is in love with him. And I also think that the way John delivers this dialogue and the tender shared smiles between him and Sherlock indicate that John is completely at peace with this. So if we read this scene as one of the many scenes in TAB that tell us something about the parts of the show that we've already seen, then this seems to give us proof that by the time Sherlock got on the plane in HLV, John had already realized that Sherlock was in love with himāand had perhaps even made peace with that.
If that's the case, but John still didn't know by the time of the scene between him and Greg in 221B, then I think it's most likely that John figured it out after Sherlock shot Magnussen. That was an incredible act of love and self-sacrifice on Sherlock's part, and even though John doesn't seem to immediately realize this in the moment, his behavior during the tarmac scene suggests that he might have figured it out afterwards. During the tarmac scene, John clearly telegraphs through his body language that he isn't prepared for an emotional goodbye with Sherlock. Sherlock picks up on this, and because Sherlock is so incredibly selfless and loves John so much, he backs down from his initial plan of finally telling John that he loves him. Sherlock realizes that John can't handle hearing that, so he once again switches to humor to try to diffuse the situation and to make John more comfortable. So, I think it's possible that John realized Sherlock was in love with him after he shot Magnussen, and that's part of why he's so upset and so unprepared for an emotional goodbye on the tarmac.
But...I say this mostly because of the waterfall scene in TAB, and I don't think the tarmac scene alone gives us definitive proof. It would still be entirely reasonable for John to feel and act the way he does on the tarmac because of his own feelings for Sherlock, without knowing that Sherlock is in love with him.
Ultimately, I think TAB still leaves things murky. There are two other possible readings of the waterfall scene, as I see it. First, all of this happens in Sherlock's head, so it's possible that this is simply what Sherlock wants desperately. Sherlock longs for John to realize that he's in love with him, to finally overcome his internalized biphobia, and to accept both his feelings for Sherlock and Sherlock's feelings for him wholeheartedly. So this could all be Sherlock's dream, but not his and John's reality at this point in the show. Alternatively, I also think the waterfall scene was initially intended to foreshadow a different ending to the show (one where Moriarty was actually still alive) that the creators abandoned for some unknown reason when they made S4. I know you've written about this scene as foreshadowing in your TAB metas! So perhaps we could also read the dialogue between John and Sherlock here as foreshadowing, indicating that John would eventually come to realize that Sherlock was in love with him and accept this. But he hadn't yet.
So in the end, I'm not sure that we have an answer as to whether or not John ever realizes that Sherlock is in love with him. The big thing that really throws things off for me is that one scene between John and Greg in HLV, because it really seems to indicate that John hadn't figured things out before that point. (If you or anyone else reading this has another explanation for that scene, though, I'd love to hear it!) If it weren't for John's dialogue in that scene, I could definitely see a lot of the other scenes in HLV as evidence that Sherlock and John both know about each other's feelings. And I also totally agree with you that something seems to have gone terribly wrong behind the scenes after S3, and the creators scrapped their original plans for the show's ending. To me, that's a big reason why TAB leaves things feeling so ambiguous. Since we'll never know exactly what the creators were planning for the rest of the show when they made TAB, it's hard to know if the waterfall scene was meant to provide commentary on events that had already happened, to reflect Sherlock's desires and nothing more, or foreshadow what was yet to come. And if it was intended to do some mixture of all three, then we don't know what that means for the Johnlock moment in that scene.
Anyway, thanks again for replying to my ask! I'm sorry I wrote something so long right back at you, but this post just got longer and longer the more I thought about everything! A big thank you to anyone else who might have stumbled upon this and read it š
Hi! If you're still open to answering Sherlock-related asks, I was wondering when you think John realized Sherlock was in love with him? I know you've said you think they both know about each other's feelings, and I'm with you on when Sherlock figures out about John. But I've never been able to quite figure out when John recognizes Sherlock's feelings. I think the waterfall scene in TAB implies that John knows, and I think he might know by the time of the tarmac scene. But I'm not sure. Thanks!
Hello! I am so sorry for this huge delay. I was busy IRL and at the same time a lot of stuff was happening in another fandom which is very active rn, so the ask was kinda staying behind. I know answered asks get a notification however I will tag you here too @winterdaphne2 to make sure you see this after all this time.
Yes, I strongly believe John knows by HLV. I talk about it a little in the meta "Why did Sherlock push John and Mary back together?" . The key phrase "Your way. Always your way" and the context within which it was uttered, John's confession that Mary was never supposed to be someone he would truly fall in love with (as opposed to Sherlock who was ticking all John's boxes, adventurous people living in danger etc) and Sherlock understanding it but pretending he didnāt and thus failing John and provoking more anger in him ("Why is everything...always... MY FAULT?!"), all those things make me conclude John knew by that point that Sherlock loved him and yet he was insisting on doing nothing about it. In other words, John knew the truth.
As to when he first realised, well we should keep in mind that John suspects Sherlock is gay from the very first day they moved in together because everybody who knows Sherlock insinuates it, Mycroft, Mrs Hudson, Donovan... The fact that from the Blind Banker onwards John suddenly becomes very heteronormative and defensive shows he feels a "threat" in the atmosphere, both due to his own impulses but also due to Sherlock's flamboyant demeanour, his habits, including casually walking around him naked (see Johnās blog). In fact, when John starts suspecting Sherlock might be into the Woman, he's equal parts angry and startled. I suppose there was no way to know before the third season because Sherlock was so emotionally guarded, however he did hope, given his suspicions that Sherlock was gay and that their bond was unique and he was visibly an exception in how Sherlock treated people in his life.
At the wedding night John sees the sorrow on Sherlock's face and nearly has a heart attack. I think everything was confirmed there for him. However, I think the time he started landing on the conclusion for good was in TEH. This is the episode in which, after John is kidnapped and thrown into the fire, John keeps pressing Sherlock for an answer regarding why one would choose to harm him if it's Sherlock they are after. He is not truly wondering though. He lingers in the pavement (always a romantic affair, Sherlock tells us in the next episode) and then goes up and asks this with a very knowing look. Then again towards the end of the episode, in the staircase. His face screams suspicion, it screams tease, it screams expectation to finally hear Sherlock say it. Alas, Sherlock doesn't. Met with Sherlock's stubborness and with a wedding proposal looming over his head, John has no choice but to open up himself so he starts telling Sherlock that he went to his grave and "spoke" to him. Sherlock acknowelges this but again chooses to avoid the conversation John tries to start multiple times. John gives up and resumes his proposal to Mary. I think at this episode John finally knew for sure but he also realised that Sherlock was determined to not act on his feelings. I have made a more detailed analysis of this with pictures in the meta "John's Choices (from TEH to TLD)".
Besides, the next episode, TSOT, is the only time John actually makes a physical advance on Sherlock. Sure he was inebriated but I think John had SO many inhibitions anyway that even when drunk he would not be so bold if he wasnāt getting all the green lights of the world from Sherlock at that moment. So, he knew. He knew that if Sherlock dropped his fascade, he would want this.

Things I noticed/thought while watching GO S2 (again) Episode 4
Episode 1
Episode 2
Episode 3
Ziraās wings make a noise in the beginning of the intro, so cute!
Crowley saying there needs to be a real miracle for his friend and him to survive it is new, he says the same words, but it is different from season 1.
One of the naziās isnāt dead, but he does show up in hell. So does he die shortly after heās shown, or is there sth else going on?
Iām watching this with the dialogue enhanced (itās feature on Prime), and Iām noticing so many new things! If you have ADHD like me, I highly recommend.
Crowley says sorry to Furfur for not remembering him.
Furfur says heās been working for hundreds of millennia, so the fall must be quite a long time before the creation of earth. Or heās just exaggerating.
Crowley snoring is hilarious, really guys turn up the sound of the dialogue.
I like the way the finger on the arm thatās fallen off still points for the exit.
Zira, why are you not telling Crowley about Shax aaaaagh!

My two cents on Aziraphale's "I forgive you" is that he was straightforwardly lashing out. He knows how little Crowley wants to be forgiven. He knows because Crowley just told him. Crowley rejects forgiveness so absolutely that he rejects Aziraphale right along with it. It's the whole fight in a microcosm: Aziraphale standing there offering forgiveness and Crowley saying, I don't want it.
So maybe the words are Aziraphale showing he finally understands Crowley. He knows now that "I forgive you" is the very worst thing he could say to Crowley. That's why he says it. That's how he means it.
#good omens#good omens meta#there might be different nuances to this if you assume there was something more going on in their fight#but i think this is the face value reading of the line#and any alternative explanations have to start here#look it's just if you watch his face he settles on ANGRY before he says it#he says i forgive you but he doesn't mean i forgive you#he means *fuck you*#i also think this ties in very well to his opening image of forgiving Maggie's rent#in an opening and closing image you want to show change you want to dramatically contrast where the character is at#we open with Aziraphale forgiving thousands of pounds without a thought#saying 'I'm very good at forgiveness'#and we close on him facing something he cannot forgive#(in that moment. obviously he and crowley will reconcile.)#fable talks good omens

Kudo is actually such a kind, soft-hearted guy that had to toughen up because he cared too much
He looked at AFO's rule, and even though he was weak, he had that glint in his eye that has been referred to as the "will of a hero" to oppose him. A hopeful glint shared with Midoriya, Bakugo, and Hawks
He even parallels Hawks when they talk about that particular look in their eye
From a glimmer in the eye, to which eye is shown, how much of the face, a similar angle of the face, and placement of text questioning the existence of that light,
He stormed to kill Yoichi with Bruce, but couldn't, once he saw the state Yoichi was in. Even knowing he was the enemy, he still reached out his hand and never let go, even when they were running
When Yoichi died, even though they'd only been together for two months, Kudo still cried and froze up.
This is a reaction from a man who repeatedly used lives as a stepping stone for his own goal.
Kudo said himself, that victory was life, and defeat was death. He had killed and seen his friends killed over and over, but still cries when it happens again. And to someone he only knew for two months, at that.
Kudo gathered allies under his cause, and they were loyal enough to die for him. Bruce cries (still smiling tho) facing AFO, tried protecting Kudo when he froze up at Yoichi's death, and we see all Kudo's comrades dead in the end. Maybe Bruce was suicidal when he went to face AFO, knowing he'd die, but most of his comrades (and Kudo) were already gone. Their cause was snuffed out, but the will persisted.
Kudo is a bit like Aizawa.
A bit crass and blunt, doesn't like beating around the bush, but he can clearly see what kind of person you are. He's not openly kind, but you know he cares so much, but has also lost too much once. He's seen his friend(s) die, and shouldn't it have been him in that spot? Shouldn't he have died instead, but was forced to continue living for that dead person's sake?
His speech about why we call Abilities "Quirks", recognizing people's intent over raw power is the real power. (Ch 369)
He's blunt and goes straight to the results rather than beat around the bush, but it doesn't mean his heart is frozen and he doesn't care about you. (Ch 408)
He cares so much, and that's why he has to do so much. (His whole Resistance thing, figuring out how Yoichi's Factor works to make sure Yoichi and his will can live on in some way)
He recognizes that Midoriya isn't driven by duty, but that he genuinely adores Quirks too much. (Ch 414) He could look at Midoriya, read that immediately, and even though he looked through his memories, Midoriya's character was his takeaway. Not that Midoriya is an idiot for letting himself be stepped on, or that this kid was bullied, but that Midoriya could see the goodness in others.
Like how Aizawa saw that Midoriya was relying on the reason [It can't be helped] whenever OFA broke his bones and told him he can't always break himself just because he could be fixed (Midoriya's recklessness that showed itself on the first day of school). He called out something that was an underlying, innate belief to Midoriya, that was so normal to the teen, and no one else had brought up as wrong to him.
The first thing they perceive is a person's character.
When Aizawa tied up Midoriya on the first day of school, he wasn't telling him off over his Quirk destroying him being a PR thing or too gruesome for the public. It was out of the fact that his Quirk shouldn't destroy him, because it's dangerous for Midoriya.
Aizawa came off antagonistic, but he was looking out for Midoriya. He didn't want him to keep breaking his whole arm, he didn't want him to get stuck in the mindset that he had to get hurt to use his Quirk, he was looking out for his wellbeing from the start. A kid he didn't know personally until that day.
Kudo did a similar thing. He turned his back, and refused to help, because they were putting their hopes in a delusional boy who would go too far. When the vestiges realized their gathered Abilities and Quirks were letting Midoriya have the freedom to do as he wished, Kudo already knew, only saying "His path is the right one". He could relate to having to run full-sprint to see your goal realized, even if everything opposed him, but didn't want Midoriya to go through that same path alone.
If he were alone, he'd be like Nagant. He had to have comrades to be like Kudo, able to continue and stand for their beliefs, but having comrades to fall back on, or pull him back when it's too much. That's why he follows up in that moment with, "But, if there's something Midoriya does need..."
Kudo and Aizawa could see themselves or their comrades in others, and knew how to approach those character flaws that were normalized to others and said person.
Kudo could see others for who they were, and I think it's this, and his caring nature, that he gathered so many allies with him. He knew when to be blunt, when to show kindness, that the truth hurts but needs to be seen, was actually very logical and witty, and when to step aside and let people do their thing, even if it wasn't the best move (like saving All Might). Because that was what was best for that person.
It's not like people would join someone so wholeheartedly without conviction and being left unseen by that person. So many people were willing to die with and for Kudo, and Bruce believes in him so much.
When All Might's vestige was fading and becoming more solid, Kudo had to look away. They knew it meant All Might was dying in the real world.
Kudo was telling Midoriya not to intervene with Gearshift there. But once he saw All Might genuinely dying out, he couldn't look at him, and kept quiet. He stopped hanging onto battlefield logic of necessity, shut up, let Midoriya do his thing, and it saved All Might. It saved Midoriya from seeing his idol die in front of him, and Kudo didn't have to see another ally die beside him.
The chapter is literally called [We Love You All Might!!]. Even if it's just meant to focus in Bakugo and Midoriya, and only has 2 exclamation marks, it can't discount the world is watching. The vestiges care about All Might too.
When the vestiges come up with the plan to forcibly transfer themselves to deal damage, Kudo volunteers himself as the test dummy. Sure, he backs it with a lot of reason too, but he didn't want anyone else to go first as a test drive
He, with a Gearshift Ability that resembled a manual car, was the test drive. Ha ha pun- *gets shot*
En tried going first. Kudo rejected him, saying he would go first.
"Part ways with Gearshift [me], and you'll be free of the crippling recoil too."
Too. TOO.
KUDO JUST WANTED TO GO AND BE DESTROYED FIRST. HE PUT THE FREEDOM OF RECOIL DOWN AS AN EXTRA BONUS SO THEY'D AGREE WITH HIS CHOICE.
I'd cut the image so it looks better, and I can use Bruce's words elsewhere, but this is an image limit, so,
- Kudo refused to let anyone else go first. This was before giving reasons to convince them he should leave first
- En gives reason to why it can't be Kudo. Kudo just says, "Listen." and reminds them of now.
- Look at Kudo's face when he says that. The guy knows what he's doing when he cuts off En, and would probably be a horrible liar. He might as well be pulling this out of his ass.
He's said "The world will end" "You have to or else" "Five minutes" "You're going to die" a few times in this fight already. DUDE STOPPP
(Terrible liar and a guy who purposely eggs you to torment? What a great friend he would be [yknow, when u make ur friends freak out by being ominous or reminding them of stuff. Like Toast to Lilypichu in a game of Observation Duty])
- "Too."
- Bruce's trust in him, but knowing when to pull Kudo back from going too far
Also, when he's transferred, he smiles to Midoriya. He knows he's about to die again, but the last thing he does for Midoriya is
1) Take away the recoil of his existence as a Factor on the boy
2) Reassure him that it's okay, so it doesn't weigh on his conscience
Even if only in thought, STILL!
KUDO LOOKED SO PROUD OF MIDORIYA!
I bet Kudo is suuuch a sentimental fool
> [Be me and watch your new friend die]
> [I have Yoichi's Factor]
> [It's like I carry his will now]
> [Have a glint of opposition in my eye that drives the Demon Lord and my comrades (Bruce) crazy]
> [Hey Bruce, let's figure out how it transfers]
> [Bruce's common sense VS my rabid ideas]
> [I win]
> [Bruce was unwilling the whole time and still ends up with the Factor]
> [The Factor is named One For All, after something in Yoichi's favorite comic book series]
> [We pass it on to the future to carry forward]
> [Even as everyone else and me dies, I make sure Yoichi and his will are safe from his Demon Lord brother that locked him up]
> [Decades later, my sweet vaulted friend reminds me of when we met]
> [I turn around and give my whole-hearted support to believe in some 15-year old boy because Yoichi believes in him too]
SEN - TIM - ENT - AL!
When Shinomori was stolen by AFO, Shinomori pushed everyone away before they could really notice the invader. Kudo called out for him.
Everyone is in shock, but I don't think it's a mistake that the text bubble calling out for Shinomori is pointing from Kudo.
All For One made it through and is ready to steal them, but the first thing Kudo did was call out for the one at the very front.
[On the post I made that mentions Shinomori pushing everyone away] What if Kudo wasn't pushed away? What if this was him at the front, realizing the danger and turning around, but being unable to do anything for Shinomori when he saw?
Like Bruce, Kudo communicates. He doesn't expect you to just follow or understand him. He actually lays it out and makes sure you keep up.
He explains
- the transfer of vestiges, and why he should go first
- his Quirk
- why Quirks are Quirks
- reports to Midoriya what's happening and what's next
- to Yoichi why they couldn't trust in a delusional boy. In a way that wasn't Bruce's roundabout "we lived in a terrible era and a leader gathered us"
When En panics, he barks at En to keep up. By barking at him, rather than any other way he could've used his tone, it shuts up En in his frantic babbling. Kudo also lets Vestige Might put in his thoughts to understand better, and uses it.
Eye reflection. Kudo can really see people for who they are, and understands others, and himself.
I can't repeat the pics cuz image limit, but look at previous panels here. For example, Kudo saying Yoichi's will lives in him, and when AFO reflected in his eyes
It's something I learned from Re:Zero. When a person in reflected in one's eye, something something that person can see the true core of you, of what you really are underneath everything. The eyes are the window and mirror [glass] of the soul. I finally see the true you.
AFO never reflected anyone.
But Kudo reflected AFO when the man accidentally killed Yoichi. He saw that AFO wasn't seeing anything, so later, Kudo smiled and mocked AFO at his own death.
"Yoichi?"
"He's gone."
"You killed him, Demon Lord."
And AFO hated that reminder.
Kudo was reminding him of what the truth was. Kudo saw it himself, and AFO blocked it out from the get-go. Kudo already knew what AFO was, what he was seeing, what he was doing to himself by blaming Kudo instead of himself.
And then, Kudo's eyes reflected his own hand when he realized Yoichi's Factor was in him.
Kudo clearly saw himself, and in himself, Yoichi. Nothing distorted it. It really was a clear mirror.
He really perceived Yoichi's will was living on, and was right. Otherwise, his eyes wouldn't have shown it.
Kudo was right about AFO. It's even implied back when he and Bruce had their backs turned; Kudo knew what AFO's real goal was. That was back when AFO preached unity and division under him.
Kudo could always see right through AFO. He really understood people from the start. And he never tried making up truths to justify what he was seeing, facing it head-on.
Kudo's lying about the world being black and white.
Kudo and Bruce saw the world as black and white. This was mentioned in the void.
Kudo also says, "Victory meant life. Defeat meant death."
But it's the Resistance. It's when Japan and the world was at their lowest. The world wasn't black and white; there's lots of gray.
Kudo and Bruce would've seen this. Kudo even admits that there's gray, just not directly.
Kudo says Yoichi knows, how he killed and trampled so many lives, to get back at AFO. He knows it wasn't right, or an amazing choice. Later, he says that when your back is against the wall, you have to make callous judgements. These hint at gray moments.
Kudo and Bruce have faced and been in the gray. But it's too hard to make the right choices, and there are times there is no right answer.
Historically, soldiers would convince themselves the enemy were monsters. They wouldn't be able to fight and kill them otherwise. They wouldn't be able to live with themselves without believing in this so badly.
Kudo and Bruce had to have been the same way. They were Meta Humans [Monsters] in a time they were viewed as diseased humans. The monsters were real. And they had a Demon Lord. Kudo and Bruce literally dressed up as soldiers.
Even if they were monsters to society, being Meta, Kudo and Bruce were still human. They knew this. The ones who tried believing in only black and white were inhabitants of the gray itself.
But they have to protect themselves. Kudo is so adamant that the world is only black and white, because he can't stand the gray. What it makes him do, what it means, that he's too weak to do anything.
Yoichi is an example of that gray area. The mortal enemy's younger brother, was actually locked up and sickly. He's just a comic book nerd. And it humanized the other side Kudo opposed so vehemently.
Kudo says victory is life and defeat is death. And Yoichi asked why he reached out to him then. He reminded Kudo of that gray area, and Kudo opened up.
Kudo might avoid the gray area because it's a matter of the heart and a moral dilemma, but it's what makes him human. When there's no right answer in the battlefield, he decides on his feelings instead.
He wishes the world was black and white, because it'd be so easy. But it's not.
Yoichi reminded him of how entering that gray area led to OFA ("when you reached out your hand to me"), and it had been the best choice in the end. The gray area is real, and Kudo's left a bare man with only his emotions when he's there.
Kudo is actually really kind and understanding. He's too soft for his own good. Thanks if you made it this far, I hope it makes sense (tag and image limit)
#KUDO IS UNDERRATED NEEDS MORE CONTENT RECOGNITION HES THE KINDEST WITTLE BOY EVER#my thoughts#i think ppl who write resistance stuff should also consider that not everything was black and white#there will be moral arguments where you cant decide. and the resistance has faced those sorts of things where There Is No Right Answer.#kudo is really kind tho. exactly because he cares so much he does all these things and tries to harden himself#but like exoskeletons work - its only an armor to protect the soft squishy insides and keep them from drying out#i woke up and had to put this stuff down#me: *picks up a sentence note in my fic notes* *puts it down here and elaborates*#the line was in relation to putting down stuff about the vestiges to remember dynamics#[Kudo is the kindest despite appearances]#kudo seems like he would be fiercely protective over ppl he cares about. exactly because hes seen so many of his comrades die over and over#kudo#bnha#mha#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#spoilers#ofa#one for all#bruce#bruce is the meme of ā*chuckles* I'm in dangerā and its just. Nightwing: Brothers In Blood is such a fucking hilarious comic for DickJay content, given the bulk of the plot is Jason deciding to dress up as Nightwing and kill people which, Dick predictably is not fond of, as a concept.
There's so much in that arc that makes me unwell. Dick straight up saying he wishes Jason had died. The way they instantly banter when they run into each other before Dick gets mad at Jason for dressing up as Nightwing, then Jason begs Dick to work with him.
But what I think gets me the most is the outright confirmation of how even now, Jason still has a serious case of hero worship for Dick and just wants to be like him and get his approval.
nightwing (1996) #120
There's such a complex Jason has over Dick and it makes me Unwell. Jason identifying with Dick, wanting his attention, his approval. His love, even. I mean, later on when Jason gets kidnapped, in his mind he hallucinates Dick talking to him and it outright confirms he wants Dick to save him and Jason has a doomsday spiral about Dick not saving him, through his mental image of Dick.
nightwing (1996) #121
Jason wants Dick in his life, there's so much unrequited love and weirdness between them. They're so not normal about each other. Later on he sends Dick a note saying he just wishes they could be family again and I think it's so unhinged of Jason. Dressing up as Dick, just because of how much he loves and respects Dick. So much potential in that.
Also aside from all of that complex this comic is also hilarious for the bit it has where Dick accidentally takes a job as a model and has to dress up as Nightwing, specifically Jason!Nightwing because of the sex appeal Cheyenne (the woman Dick is seeing) thinks it has. And when he's on the runway and sees Jason in the audience he just jumps at Jason, in front of everyone, to beat the shit out of him, while dressed as Nightwing. Which the public thinks is a planned stunt to bank on the weird Sexy Rivalry between the two Nightwings currently running around. It's the most unhinged thing and I think it's so funny. Dick's sort-of-girlfriend makes him dress up as Nightwing!Jason because she thinks it's hot and it'll sell, then Dick beats Jason up in front of everyone, still dressed as Nightwing (specifically Jason), and it reads as a sexy performance modeling piece.
nightwing (1996) #120
Imagine being so weirdly homoerotic about your sort of kind of brother figure that you can't hesitate fighting him when you're supposed to be modeling and everyone thinks the tension is so good it's a part of the show. These two cannot leave each other alone with their weird tangled feelings for each other. I love it dearly.
#dickjay#jaydick#dick grayson x jason todd#jason todd x dick grayson#batcest#necrotic festerings#also funny is cheyenne *also* dresses up as nightwing at one point to join the fight which is so damn funny.#dick stuck between two people wearing his mantle and he's currently sleeping with one of them. and then the other is in love with him.#this was going to be much longer but the original version of this meta was just me showing panels and then mansplaining them#and that felt pointless so this is the shorter but more janky version.#this comic is so weird if you think about it for longer than two seconds.#i skipped over the part where jason becomes a monster and eats a guy.#comics are strange. love 'em tho#yes i will be weird and make any canon interaction between these two batcesty. who's to stop me. I'll do it with all the damn robins.#the main point of this post was supposed to be let jason have a hero worship complex over dick#i got distracted#this is not of the quality of my timjay thoughts but tbh i don't care sometimes you just gotta ramble pointlessly#low effort shitpost

Guys I have a confession to make. In spite of all my PLA posting and especially Reiposting... I have not actually played PLA.
Until now!!!
Armed with my new Switch Lite I now possess infinite power and will be able to Reipost to a degree heretofore unfathomable
There he is!
Objectively the best starter Rowlet /lh
So far I have been having a blast catching 'mons, dodge-roll climbing my way up unreasonably tall places, and not doing the plot. I have been assured this is part of the experience.
I forgot to take a screenshot so I had to yoink this from someone's YouTube playthrough but darn. Kamado. Did you really have to say it like that
(Haha isn't it funny that Rei does do that and yet he's not fully accepted and trusted in the end. Haha. Maybe he didn't work hard enough...)
This line stuck out to me. On one hand it's cautionary - in context, it's meant to warn Rei that he should be careful in how he behaves around the Diamond and Pearl clans, since the Galaxy Team is in a tenuous position here in Hisui. But from another view, it sort of suggests that "we are all equally outsiders here. You belong" which is more explicitly stated in lines like this one:
And so I see this narrative that's building up of "Rei can earn a place for himself where he is trusted and accepted if he works hard enough", which is reinforced time and time again as he gets more star ranks, and takes more requests from the villagers, who gradually become friendlier towards him, at varying rates. (I've been making a point to talk to all the NPCs every time I return to Jubilife Village.)
Which I'm sure you all know already, and which I also knew, to a point, but it hits different actually seeing its gradual progression in game.
Anyway. Next episode, we fight a Noble Pokemon and I'll see if all my dodge-rolling experience to climb tall heights will translate to being good at dodge-rolling away from murderously angry super-powered Pokemon. Wish Rei luck, he's being piloted by me and my decidedly lacking gamer reflexes XDD
I'll tag all my PLA posting "// tik plays PLA"
#breaking news: local serial rei overanalyser has not in fact played PLA#this will all change soon XD but i like to think i did a good job blending in#where a metric ton of fic pokemas characterisation crumbs and sheer willpower will get you#but anyway I've fallen so far down the rabbithole that I figured it was high time I actually played the game#blorbo beloved now more real than ever#(another confession: i have not really played any mainline games either. I've played a little of Pokemon White on an emulator and that's It#strange for a self proclaimed Pokemon fan i know but hey it's worked so far XD#legends arceus#trainer rei#rei pokemon#rei#// tikposting#// character meta#i wonder what my thoughts would have been if i were not doing this with retrospective knowledge of what happens in the end#anyway you all get to see (sort of) new thoughts on a game that's two years old#// tik plays PLA

ok wait i need to hear more of your thoughts on peeta owning a bakery....
This is one of those rare times where Iām pretty sure this anon isnāt someone I know personally bc Iāve subjected anyone who will listen to my rant about the Peeta Bakery Headcanon. Anyway, youāre gonna regret asking this anon bc there are fucking Layers here.
I know this is probably a controversial take based on the number of fics where Iāve seen it, but I simply do not think that Peeta would open a commercial bakery after Mockingjay!! Like on a metatextual level, I donāt think it really fits with the point of the ending of the series. It actually sort of fascinates me that itās just such a common headcanon because the ending of Mockingjay is exceedingly vague. I think that vagueness invites us, as readers, to imagine a better world post-revolution. A world where Katniss would feel confident that her children would be safe from injustice, where sheād feel confident that her children would never know want the way she did as a child. A just world. A kinder world. Can a capitalist society ever be just? Is a capitalist society where a disabled teenager has no other means to subsist himself (or feels like thereās no other way he can be a contributing member of his community) really the post-revolution world we dream of? Is that really the best we can imagine?
(This got so insanely long Iām adding a read more lmao)
I get that showing a better world is not always the point of post-mockingjay headcanons/fics. Like there are plenty of really great post-mockingjay fics Iāve seen where, yeah, part of the fic is that society like ISNāT all that different or all that much better. Iāve seen that really well done! Hell, Iāve written them myself! Itās easy to imagine how a lot of aspects of society would not get an overhaul, a lot of the same structural inequalities would continue to exist. One headcanon that really stuck with me (I canāt remember which fic it was from) was that Peeta sells basically mail order baked goods to people on the Capitol, sending them iced cakes and pastries by train, because there are still people who were āfansā of theirs during the Games. And idk this doesnāt actually have much to do with my point lol but I liked it because itās kind of fucked up and like! Yeah! It makes sense! If he needed money that would be a good way to make it! War often makes people rich, often for horrible reasons, and often itās people who already have capital in the first place.
Anyway, more about the hypothetical bakery because alright. I bring up the fact that āyeah society not being all that different post-revolution and still being an unjust capitalist hellscapeā could be a reason why Peeta re-opens a bakery because thatās actually never the types of fics where I see the bakery headcanon. Fics where Peeta opens a bakery are usually trying to make the exact opposite point. Like. Things are getting better, now he can open a bakery! Look at how much better the world is now, plus heās got a bakery! Peeta is healing, thatās why he can open a bakery now! And I am so, so sorry to inform everyone whoās never had the grave misfortune of owning a family business, but there is truly nothing further from the truth lmao. Like just putting aside the immense amount of emotional baggage that Peeta has about his family, running a small business is an insane amount of work in any context and being a baker especially is physically grueling and involves early hours (and long hours) that arenāt really the best fit with the multiple ways that Peeta is disabled now. (I could go into this more because I have a lot of thoughts. But I will spare you.). I also think itās seen throughout the books that Peeta is someone who needs time to pursue creative outlets to process his feelings and someone who values leisure and values quality time with his loved ones. And having grown up in his familyās bakery, I think heād understand the reality that running a bakery wouldnāt leave much space of those pursuits and wouldnāt leave much space for him to have the things that keep him healthy and stable. I think heād know that the way he is nowā after two Games and the war and unspeakable torture at the hands of a dictatorāisnāt compatible with the lifestyle necessary for running a commercial bakery.
And tbh with that in mind, I donāt think heād push himself to re-open a business (one that would be a constant reminder of his dead family and his complicated relationships with them that got no closure) that would require him to sacrifice his physical and emotional well-being. Like I think he might look into the possibility, I think he might even start trying to open a bakery out of a sense of obligation/duty, maybe harboring some idea that this is who he was supposed to be, who he would've been without the Games, or that itās this last piece of his family that can live on, or that itās this last connection to his family so he canāt let it die too. But ultimately, I think any attempt to open a bakery wouldnāt get very far. Maybe he'd start wading into the logistical nightmare that is small business ownership and realize it's not for him (because it's probably also true that as much as him and his brothers were involved in the business, there's almost certainly parts they weren't involved with and didn't see, i.e., filing taxes). Or maybe looking into opening a bakeryā how triggering it is, the stress of itā causes a downward spiral. Maybe he hates how much he's worrying everyone by unraveling. Maybe having a breakdown from the stress of just trying to open a bakery makes him realize, yeah, maybe in another life he would have ran his familyās bakery but the way he is now just doesnāt work with running a bakery, not without great sacrifices he's not willing to make. I just canāt see a bakery coming to fruition.
I know a lot of fics include Peeta deciding to reopen a bakery as a big step in his healing or include him rebuilding a bakery as part of his healing process but honestly, I think the opposite would be more true: I think Peeta either trying/failing to open a bakery or ultimately deciding not to open a bakery would be hugely healing for him. I think it would be a huge part of him accepting the way he is now as a person, his new limitations but also his strengths. I think it would be a huge part of him accepting the way his life his now and accepting that he likes his life the way it is, that heās satisfied with his life without needing to own a bakery. I think it would be an important part of him coming to terms with the loss of his family. I think he knows he can never have things back as they were and I donāt think he would try to recreate them, especially because his familyās legacy isnāt a business. I think heās emotionally intelligent enough and self reflective enough to realize that what mattered to him about the bakeryā taking care of others by feeding them, being integrated into his community and being actively involved in it, brightening peopleās days with delightful things whether thatās beautiful cakes or hearty food or delicious treatsā and the things he learned from his family through the bakery, are things that he can carry on in other meaningful ways.
(Do you regret sending this ask yet, anon? Because if not, you will soon. Iām not done yet. Thereās more.)
I wasnāt really sure where to put this next part in what is rapidly becoming an essay because it sort of combines the points about like āwhat do we imagine a post-mockingjay society to look likeā with the practical difficulties of starting this bakery but hereās another thing: do people really think that the Mellarks owned the land the bakery was on?? Like, sure, the merchants are the petit bourgeois of Twelve but I still donāt imagine they really own anything. In a society where houses are assigned to people upon marriage, where property ownership and capital are so closely interconnected with citizenship (as shown by the Plinths who, by having immense capital, are able to leave their District and become citizens of the Capitol) do people really think the Mellarks would be allowed to own the land their bakery is on?? I always imagined it sort of like a tenant farming situation: the Capitol gives them the raw materials for the bakery and in return the bakery give them some absurdly high portion of their profits, or the Capitol sells them a yearās supply of raw materials at a premium on credit and at the end of the year the Mellarks have to use the money they made with those materials to pay it back, except itās never enough to turn a profit so they always have to buy next yearās materials on credit and the cycle continues.
We (understandably) get a really skewed view of the merchant class through Katnissās perspective so I can see why people come to the conclusion that his family owned the property and, as the last surviving member, he wouldāve inherited it. Iāve seen the inheritance thing in fics a lot or a hand wavey āwell Twelve was decimated to no one owns anything anymore so it can be hisā or even like an almost sort of reparations type situation where heās entitled to the land as a surviving refugee of Twelve. But I donāt know. I guess I donāt think it fits with everything else we know about Panem that the Mellarks wouldāve owned that land and I think the question of whether the government wouldāve let him take ownership of the land post-revolution brings up a lot of issues about the structure of society post-Mockingjay that I find more interesting to explore in other ways, especially when, from an emotional perspective, 1) I find the idea of Peeta not opening a bakery more compelling and 2) I donāt think it really fits his character arc by the end of Mockingjay to reopen a bakery, as I went on about at length above lol.
On the flip side: literally who cares!! Do whatever you want!! Headcanon whatever you want!! I get why people go for the bakery!! Itās fun, itās wholesome, itās a built in bakery AU that isnāt even an AU. It doesnāt matter if itās practical or realistic!! It doesnāt need to be practical or realistic!! Itās fanfic of a dystopian YA series!! My unfortunate affliction is that I grew up in a family that owned a restaurant and that I have multiple degrees in the social sciences so I canāt see the bakery without being like āWhat about the overheard? What about the start up costs? Whoās spending long nights balancing the books? Is Peeta covering shifts when an employee calls in sick? Is Peeta the sole person working there until the bakery is open long enough (often a year or more) to start turning a profit? How does that sleep schedule work with his nightmares? How does that work with Katnissās nightmares? What happens when he has an episode and suddenly needs to take the day off before he has any employees? Does the bakery just remain closed for the day? Can the profit margins withstand regular unexpected closures? Can the supplies withstand regular unexpected closures?ā And if the answer is āElliott none of those things matter heās not doing the bakery because he needs the money but because he wants toā, then my question is why does he want to? Does he not get the same sort of satisfaction out of feeding his loved ones? Doesnāt Peeta seem like someone who would rather give away baked goods than sell them?? Doesnāt Peeta seem like someone who would prefer to make cakes for peopleās special occasions upon and then when they insist on paying him for it, he only lets them āpay for the ingredientsā which actually cost significantly more than he says they did??
So yeah my point is that itās a matter of personal taste! It doesnāt fit the way I see the series but that doesnāt mean itās like wrong, Iām not an authority on Peeta lmao.
Itās also a matter of personal taste in the sense that I find the themes that most resonate with me at the end of Mockingjay (and the end of Peetaās arc specifically) more interesting to explore in other ways. Grief, living with loss, relearning yourself, finding hope, figuring out your place in a dramatically different world when you donāt even know who you are anymore, healing, building a new life after such complete and total destruction of your old lifeā those are all things I find compelling about the end of Mockingjay but for me the bakery isnāt the most compelling way to explore them.
Not to say I find the concept of the bakery totally uninteresting. I have this fic about Johanna that Iāll probably never finish where the point sort of is that, yeah, her life really isnāt all that much better after the war. Itās been years at this point and sheās still miserable and she doesnāt know how to be a person but by the end sheās trying to figure it out. And towards the end, Peeta tells her that heās spent years sort of passively, half-heartedly trying to figure out how to inherit the land his familyās bakery was on, only to find out it was never theirs in the first place. Theyād been renting it the whole time and heād never even known as a kid. So he sort of passively, half-heartedly went on another wild goose chase to find the owner and now, finally, after years of writing to various government agencies and being sent in circles and things being barely functional, heās managed to track down the owner. Now itās owned by the daughter of the man who owned it when he was a kid because the original owner (who was likely up to some sketchy war crime shit) died during the war and she inherited it (the ironyā¦). He got in contact with her and asked how much it would take for her to sell it and she told him sheās not interested in selling but in light of the situation, in light of the fact that heād have to build a new building in order to operate a bakery, that sheād cut him a dealā sheād only require 50% of the bakeryās profits as rent instead of the 80% his family used to pay. And of course Johanna is outraged, thatās not right, the owner shouldnāt be allowed to do that, they should do something about it, they should fight back. And Peeta is like. Not interested. He was actually sort of relieved that opening wasnāt very feasible. Getting the answer was a lightbulb moment where he saw that over the years of trying to look into this, heās built a life that he likesā one where heās stable, where his loved ones are stable, where heās cared for and can care for othersā and he doesnāt really want to change it drastically by opening a bakery anyway. He just needed an answer, one way or another, before he could get some closure and move on. (And the point of the conversation is Johanna is having her own lightbulb moment that itās okay to move on, itās okay to change, itās not a betrayal of the people and things sheās lost but thatās not my point here!!).
But anyway. Thatās obviously not about running the bakeryā itās about the choice to not run one.
Anyway!! Anywayā¦ are you satisfied anon? Is this what you wanted?
Lastly, here is my most important qualm with the bakery headcanon: must Peeta be gainfully employed? Is it not enough for him to be Katnissās boytoy? Canāt he just paint and garden and bake and hang out with his girlfriend all day? Is that really too much to ask?
#peeta mellark#thg#the hunger games#the hunger games meta#anyway wow this got so long and I literally read it through one (1) time so uhhh sorry if this makes no sense!!#as I was doing my one read through and realized that one of my other thoughts on this is that yeah I can much more easily see the#headcanon that peeta like sells baked goods (probably at cost with no profit) out of his kitchen because thatās much more flexible#and I think that would work a lot better with what like I guess Iād call his psychiatric disability post mockingjay#and how heād certainly want to take care of Katniss too#like that sort of flexibility makes a lot more sense for him and itās like. if he doesnāt bake for a few days or however long then itās fin#itās not a formal brick and mortar business#itās just something heās doing because itās a way to be involved with people and a way to do something heās passionate about#without there being waste and while covering some of the costs#and he doesnāt have to like keep books or do payroll or any of the things I canāt see him being very passionate about#as far as like bakery management goes Lmao he can just bake!!#but then I started getting into this whole thing about how that quote-unquote ārunning a businessā like that (informally from your house)#is actually a really common practice for people living in poverty so probably something that Katniss and peeta wouldāve been familiar wirh#anyway and then this whole rant about how the emphasis on the brick and mortar bakery often goes hand in hand with#this widespread fandom thing of having a fundamental misunderstanding of how rural poverty works and what it looks like#but then I was too deep into it and said you know what? never mind! and deleted it lmao

The Seraphim & The Concept of Self
I wonder who picked the Seraphim's outfits cause at first glance when you only look at S-Hawk and S-Snake it feels like there's a standard uniform. then you see the whole group and there's definitely some individuality going on; like S-Bear just wearing a mini kuma outfit, S-Shark with the gi, my man Moria got a little suspender situation going on over there. S-mingo wearing a whole ass hawain shirt. So there's definitely some variety though they all incorporate white in some way. And I wonder if maybe they got some input into what they wore one of the only acts of "free will" they were allowed was choosing whether they wore shorts or long pants which is as adorable as it is sad.
Because think about the implications that they are dressed to the taste of their adult counterparts, right down to how doffy and mihawk like to open their shirts (except for S-Snake which thank god) but yeah what if it wasn't an allowance of free will but a test to see just how deep DNA ran. If it could influence something as simple as choice of clothing, just another fact for Vega punk to marvel at.
Or maybe the clothes were chosen by one of the Vega punks (I can imagine Shaka doing it) or one of the other various lab assistants. And it's just another way to get them to embody the warlords, to reinforce who they were cloned to be, impressing on them that they are not their own people, their lives are not their own. They are already predetermined; from what powers they get, to what weapons they use, even down to what clothes they wear. Everything reinforces that they are not people, just "better" "stronger" versions of someone else.
Either way, and It might have not have been purposely meant that way because I'm pretty sure Vega punk doesn't really register them as human (which is weird cause he treats stussy very humanly and a whole other can of worms seeing as they seem to be aware and possess a personality to some capacity) it's another way of dehumanizing them, reducing them to the people they are meant to become. They have no "free will" no illusion of choice; they have a predetermined destiny, a pre-determined order, there was never any room for choice even down to the shirts on their back.
#even though i do think it would be objectively funnier and more adorable if they got to pick their outfits#and there was no trauma attached to it at all but we all know that's not what we do here#This was inspired by me finding S-Hawks little rolled up sleeves button down tucked into his little shorts the most adorable thing ever#they give me very umbrella academy vibes but you know they're basically the same difference#and I swear I don't hate vegapunk it's just been shown he sometimes forgets to put humaity before science but he atleast tries to be good#it's a good flaw for a genius scientist character to have he's just a 1960s psychologist#a little part of me knows the seraphim and all their implications beyond being nuclear weapons is never going to be explored#I'll be suprised if any other warlord besides Jimbe ever meet their seraphim never mind king#but god knows oda might just shock me but given that all the fights with them have been cut short or skipped over I highly doubt#the concept of self#one piece seraphim#seraphim#s hawk#s snake#s flamingo#s bear#s shark#seven warlords#s crocodile#warlords of the sea#boa hancock#dracule mihawk#donquixote doflamingo#s gecko#vegapunk#one piece thoughts#one piece meta#throwing thoughts to the void#one piece#one piece analysis

i love the small moment during sympathy for the duke where the duke puts satine's sheer robe back on her shoulders. you can kind of see the beginning of it in the last gif of this post by ashleyslorens.
satine, knowing exactly what the duke wants, decides to push her and the duke forward by taking her robe off her shoulders and posing in a way she knows he'll find enticing. she's the one to take that first step forwardāwhich is crucial, considering she knows she's going to have to relinquish control to him in mere moments. satine being the one to initiate is her trying to set the pace they move at, instead of just letting the duke call the shots.
the duke sees and recognizes this, and so he puts his hands on her shoulders and then slips the robe back up her arms and on her body. he then establishes what he wants from herāeverythingāand thus establishes the full control he'll have over her.
we can also see him use the robe to strip her of her control in other moments throughout the number. about halfway through, the duke grabs satine's shoulders and tears the robe off of her rather suddenly. she plays along, and then follows his lead (a beckoning "come here" motion with his finger). he's telling her where to go; he's the one making the decisions. she still has the robe in hand, and does some flirty choreography with it. the duke then violently rips it from her hands, to satine's visible shock, which she then has to mask in order to keep him happy as 'the sparkling diamond'.
there is definitely more to be said about how the duke uses clothing as a means of controlling satine, but i just wanted to highlight this one instance, especially that particular moment with him putting the robe back on her that i found really interesting.
#gonna imagine him getting hit by a bus now who wants to join!!!! girl's night (gender neutral) <3#IVE BEEN WANTING TO MAKE THIS POST FOR FIVE DAYS LITERALLY EVER SINCE I SAW THE MOMENT IN PERSON !!!!!!!!!!#i hope this all makes sense and of course PLEASE feel free to contribute if any of you have more thoughts on this!!#i would love to hear them!!#TY TO BEA AND MAYA MY BELOVEDS FOR REMINDING ME TO POST THIS BTW!!! <3 MWAH#moulin rouge#moulin rouge meta#my posts

Things I noticed/thought while watching GO S2 (again) Episode 3
Episode 1
Episode 2
6:28 I see you Zira, and I couldnāt agree more. Donāt mind me looking with heart eyes at the famous thin dark duke <3
What I would give to read all 603 volumes of Ziraās diaries. Half of it is probably him talking about Crowley.
Jealous Zira when Crowley says Gabriel is beautiful is so cute.
I do love a Scottish accent, especially Davidās. And Iām convinced Elspeth said āEnglishā off script, because look at David/Crowleyās face.
Beelzebub not feeling themselvesā¦
Crowley, what are you doing with those books? And why are you looking so damn gorgeous doing whatever youāre doing? And then he just YEETS those books š
The resurrectionists minisode is very special to me. Iām a medical student, and I too have spend hours and hours cutting and dissecting human kadavers to study and learn about the human body. Without it, we would never be so advanced as we are now. It is also fascinating, I would like to thank everyone who has donated or will be donating their body to science. We will take good care of you I promise, and are eternally grateful. It also does a great job at showing the moral conundrums about this subject , but also in general. What is good and bad, and does it change according to who it is and the circumstances? And shows that no matter how much Zira thinks he is still fully Good, he is going more and more towards the grey area.
Ziraās been on earth for a while, but he still has some trouble blending in though doesnāt he?
Crowley again being more powerful than even he himself knows, it seems, when he makes the watchmen disappear. Maybe because he was emotionally connected to the cause and the love/affection/emotions he felt made his miracle more powerful?
29:27 what are those arrows in the back of shot? Would they mean anything?
āThe awning of a new ageā badum tss
āAnd twitter and grindr whatever they happen to beā sure, love, tell me again you donāt know what they are
37:35 this is a weird shot to me, as if this person has never seen rain before, it is London England ffs
I like that shax is dressed in all red with dark hair and Crowley is dressed in all black with red hair
'Itās always too lateā I have an inkling we will be hearing more of that phrase in future.
Episode 4
