PSA:
Good Omens HQ is run by the Pratchett Estate team, not Amazon. I would kindly ask you to please direct any disappointment and/or frustration regarding the film to Amazon. The Pratchett team is why we’re getting an ending at all. Thank you.

For those who haven't heard this, this is a clip from the episode of David Tennant Does A Podcast With... featuring Olivia Colman, from 2019. In this clip, Olivia and David talk about people filming them without permission, the ubiquity of camera phones, and the idea of "home" as a sanctuary from loss of privacy. I thought it was something interesting to think about and consider, especially in the wake of recent events.
Transcript of notable bits below:
(Talking about a woman filming David on the set of Broadchurch) Olivia: "[...]And I was very defensive on your behalf, too." David: "I remem--Yes, there was that wonderful day on the pier at West Bay. Where I was having some microphone wire put down my trouser leg. It was very undignified." Olivia: "I think she was videoing you. From a table's distance away." David: "Yeah. I was very touched that you were furious, and you leapt at this woman. Although she sort of still didn't notice, did she? She sort of grinned and kept filming." --- Olivia: "I have friends that I adore and I like going to safe places with them--my home or their home or something." --- Olivia: "Now I noticed the world's changed. Everyone's got a fucking camera. And people are desensitized to fellow humans." David: "When you first lose that anonymity, it's quite threatening. It's much more threatening than you imagine it's going to be objectively. Cause you imagine that sort of--for want of a better word, celebrity--it somehow empowers you, but actually I think it's the opposite."

"He should be used to this by now."
Maybe, just maybe, this shouldn't be something that he has to get used to. Because you would think that if he even once expressed that he wasn’t comfortable being filmed, that would be enough to make her stop. The fact that it isn’t and hasn’t been up until now is not okay.
She is doing more than just annoying him here--she is humiliating him. A "love language" implies something shared and spoken by both people, and this feels entirely one-sided at this point. If you genuinely love someone, you don't repeatedly violate their trust and then laugh/brag about "breaking" them for others to see.
I shudder to think what the reaction would be if the situation was reversed. The outrage that would occur if he was filming her when she didn't want to be filmed, and the dramatic shift in reaction to the camera. It would not at all be seen as acceptable.
And yet, here we are...

Trigger and Content Warnings: Abuse
A little primer on how trauma affects the body, even if it's not physical.
The vagus nerve is what controls our parasympathetic nervous system. It is primarily responsible for fight, flight, and freeze.
Trauma rewires that nerve. It makes the vagus nerve go, "oh, this resembles the situation I was in before, I need to be on alert." Even when, reasonably, it doesn't always need to be.
Now, imagine for a second that you're subjected to something more constant and in your everyday life. Like, say, someone who constantly crosses your boundaries and betrays your trust. Someone who denigrates you and makes fun of your accomplishments. Someone who's constantly playing power games because they're insecure with themselves.
The vagus nerve is being constantly rewired in situations like this. Hypervigilance kicks in. "Oh, I can't let my guard down around this person." Sometimes that turns into "I can't let my guard down around anyone."
They also carry messages from the brain to the heart and digestive system. Everything in the body is connected in some way. You'll often find people with intestinal issues connected to their anxiety and depression. Having a constantly elevated heart rate isn't healthy for anyone, either.
I know some of this is coming out of genuine ignorance and lack of scientific research on trauma. But to suggest that abuse is only abuse if it's physical is entirely scientifically incorrect. And emotional abuse has an effect on the physical body.

🖤🤍
When Michael’s name was mentioned for the part of Aziraphale, I was immediately interested. We did Bright Young Things together 20 years ago but never had a scene together, and we’ve known each other since then. He is a hugely talented lovely man, and those are always the sort of people you want to work with. He’s delightful to work with, and it feels as though we have been playing these characters forever.

Even though they're opposite teams, Aziraphale's nature is to love, so he just loves Crowley. Maybe he's a little bit in love with Crowley. Or maybe that's just me and David!
