and i have sooo many thoughts about this whole situation with skyfire/starscream that's been presented to me, if you dont mind anon im gonna use your ask to ramble a little

(disclaimer im sure nothing i have to say here is particularly new & has been said by those who've been deep into TF longer than myself but i need to get this out my system anyways. and also im still watching through g1 so if im horribly mistaken about anything #oops)

unless i missed something, i don't think it's specified in "fire in the sky" how long starscream looked for skyfire?? but just thinking about that line.... he obviously didn't immediately go back to cybertron, he didn't just give up on skyfire. starscream cared about skyfire enough to look for him, only leaving after (i assume) he realized he didn't have the resources to conduct a proper search for his companion. and i mean can you imagine being starscream in that situation???? your partner just disappears into a storm, and no matter how far and long you look you're unable to find them????????

i get starscream, man. i'd also become awful if that happened to me.

and here's the thing: i stumbled upon this post which posits that the decepticons happening to stumble across skyfire in the ice was no incident, but starscream's own doing, and i LOVE this theory/headcanon so much. when i first watched the episode yesterday i was thinking that it was funny they just happen to be mining right where skyfire was frozen so it's nice to see my suspicions affirmed LMAO

i honestly love that episode so much because as i learn more about starscream and transformers as a whole i think little tidbits like that offer a deeper look into who he is (or was, idk) beyond just megatron's second-in-command. he was a scientist, an explorer, a friend. "was" isn't even the proper word here, because he still is all of those things, he just...... applies them differently, i suppose. which is the real tragedy in who he is as a character.

beyond starscream and his search for skyfire, you wanna know what i've REALLY been thinking about a lot with these two? when skyfire becomes a decepticon (for like a day lol but still), starscream immediately declares that when he overthrows megatron, skyfire will become his second-in-command. not any of the other seekers, not either of the waves, not literally anyone else who's been a decepticon for more than an hour, but skyfire. his long-lost science partner. on starscream's end, virtually nothing about his relationship with skyfire has changed. he still trusts him as much as he did millions of years ago, to the point he'd be willing to have him at his side as leader of the decepticons.

but on skyfire's end... the starscream in front of him is different from the one he knew. war and being a decepticon changed starscream for the worst, something that unveils itself very quickly to skyfire. one of the first things he asks starscream after becoming a decepticon is if starscream is genuinely happy about being a decepticon warrior over the scientist he used to be. skyfire can't believe that the person standing in front of him could be the starscream he once knew before being frozen. still, it's starscream, so skyfire ends up going along with things up until he can't ignore his morals and deny that he's on the wrong side anymore.

that is where the second tragedy happens for starscream: betrayl, by the man he'd waited to get back for so long. he finally got skyfire back, only to lose him all over again.

if skyfire had never crashed that day -- if they'd never gone closer to explore the earth in the first place -- would starscream had gone down such a dark path? would he have taken countless lives, and become the ruthless decepticon he is now? does it eat at skyfire, knowing that in his absence starscream lost who he once was? or perhaps he'd still be the same starscream, but skyfire would be at his side serving the decepticon cause. maybe they both would've been so drastically changed by the years of cybertron's war together.

skyfire is a living, formerly frozen relic of the past before everything went wrong. starscream has aged far beyond that, to the point of no return. as much as they surely both want it, and regardless of what happens to them, their bond can never go back to what it once was.

god i just. i need more!!! i need to watch more transformers and read more of the comics and see more of these two!! i watched tfp + some of the live action movies as a kid but this is my first time learning about skyfire and this thing he's got going on with starscream and it's fascinating to me i can't believe i didn't know about this before!!!!! but it's also so fucked up oh my god!!!!!

You cringed as your eyes stared at the costume your best friend held up, the tiny pink body suit assaulting your eyes,

You shook your head and continued searching through her collection of costumes, hoping to find one a little less scandalous.

“You’d look so good in this! Josh won’t be able to take his eyes off you.”

A dark blush crept on your face as you tried ignoring Sam’s teasing. You were never the type to show skin, let alone this much. You felt like you had your place in the group already, you were timid and if you were to wear a costume it would be something nerdy.

Sure, a few jokes might be said but you felt comfortable which was your number one priority.

“Just try it on okay? If you really don’t like it you don’t have to wear it.”

You sighed and snatched the costume from her hands, side eyeing her as you slowly made your to bathroom to change. You strongly doubted you would like this, you didn’t want to. But you did like it.

Your eyes widened as you look in the mirror,

“Wow… I look hot.”

As the door to the Washington Lodge opened you took in your surroundings, the smell of sweat and alcohol hitting your senses. You hear a squeal of girls and turn to see your friends waving at you excitedly.

“You look amazing!”

Hannah and Beth were the first to comment on the outfit, giving you compliments for it. You were mentally preparing for what the boys would say, luckily they seemed preoccupied with their drinks.

You feel a warm embrace and smell sweet vanilla, immediately noticing it’s Jess in her tiny costume, not out of character for her.

As you continued to walk through the party you finally made your way to the kitchen, a loud wolf whistle making you sheepishly want to turn around and leave.

There you see two of your best friends, Josh and Chris fumbling over themselves to see you. They had to stop themselves from literally drooling at the sight of you.

“Trying something new?”

You rolled your eyes at them,

“Chris what are you even wearing, are you suppose to be a nun or something?”

Chris was wearing a baggy dark cloak, he must’ve found it in the basement or something. Your eyes go over Josh’s costume, he’s wearing an unfitted overall set and has a fake knife in his hand.

“Want a drink?”

Josh hands you a red solo cup filled with a mix of drinks, you cringe as you down it. Hoping this will give you some more confidence.

As the night goes on the little comments and jokes don’t seem to stop, Josh coming towards you with another drink,

“Are you suppose to be a bunny? I can only tell by the ears.”

He then seems to get an idea and moves behind you, humming as if he was confirming something,

“And tail I guess. This type of thing isn’t really you huh?”

You turn to face him with a fake angry expression and hit his arm lightly as you tease back,

“Staring at my ass, Joshua?”

Josh steps closer to you making you shiver, his hand grazing over your lower back.

“How could I not?”

The air between the two of you seemingly changed, your mouth became dry as you looked up at him, but quickly turned away to avoid his stare.

“Anyway, let’s go join the group.”

He grabbed your arm and pulled you with him, completely ignoring the entire interaction.

More drinks and laughs are shared, the group now sitting in a circle in the living room. Sam and the twins look like they’re plotting something whispering before they yell out, ‘Spin the bottle!’

You let out a sigh knowing where this could end up for some people, but you quietly agree to play.

After a few founds and some giggles and pecks it’s your turn to spin, you curse yourself for agreeing to play this childish game.

Finally you spin the beer bottle watching it twirl deciding your fate against the hard wood floors, it slowing down and finally stopping directly across from you.

“Woo! My time to shine.”

Josh cracks his knuckles and motions you to come closer, your cheeks once again begin to heat up as you have to crawl across the circle to him.

A few cheers and whistles make you want to die inside, as you near him he smiles at you which gives you some peace in mind.

This has been your dream since middle school, always crushing on Josh through out all these years. This just wasn’t exactly the first kiss you had in mind though.

You lean in and your lips graze his, the smell his cologne and vodka overwhelm your head, your thoughts becoming fuzzy as you continue the kiss.

It was short and sweet but you felt on fire, your body buzzing with excitement. You’d lie if you weren’t saying you enjoyed it.

“Atta girl.”

After the game the party kept going on, drinks stilll going, but the energy was starting to go down. A slow song begins playing, you couldn’t help but sway your hips letting the alcohol take control.

You giggle as you continue with your dancing, slightly stumbling now and then until an arm steadys you.

“Never seen this side of you.”

Josh’s voice flows into your mind, his voice just above a whisper into your ear.

“Care to dance m’lady?”

He takes a goofy bow and extends his hand to yours, the song continues and you keep with your swaying, now with him.

“Have fun tonight, bunny?”

You snicker at this new found nickname but still nod, then letting your head rest on the warmth of his shirt,

“Felt good tonight.”

“You looked good too.”

You looked up at him expecting to see a hint of humor in his eyes but instead he looked at you with sincerity.

“Are you teasing me?”

He puts his hand on his heart in an act of playing out his words, letting you know he’s not. Even when he’s joking you can always tell with Josh how he’s thinking. Always except when it’s about you.

Through out the years Josh’s admiration for you has only grown, he loves how shy you are and how easy he can make you blush and stutter. Even if he’s teasing he knows just how far to push it, never wanting to hurt your feelings.

Being best friends was amazing, but it was killing you both not to be more. You didn’t want to ruin the friendship, and neither did he.

If it wasn’t for the amount of alcohol you had buzzing through you, your next move would have never even crossed your mind as something you’d do. But here you are, drunk and kissing Josh.

Everything drowned out as you stood on your tippy toes and pulled Josh into a kiss, all you could focus on was him. Your heart beated out of your chest as he continued to kiss you back, your lips brushing against each other.

Your hands held onto his overalls for support as he pulled you in to deepen the kiss, his tongue swiping over your lips. Your heart races as you feel one of his hands slide down your back.

“Get a room, love birds!”

Mike yells out, making you pull away quickly and turn to see some of the group watching. Sam smiles and gives you a big thumbs up. You pinch the bridge of your noise and see Josh wink at Chris.

Josh grabs your hand and pulls you away from the group, towards another room.

“Josh! where are we going?”

He doesn’t answer as he weaves around the maze of this home, finally resting on the door to one of the many rooms of the house.

“I thought you deserved some privacy, not that we have to do anything… but maybe we should, um, talk?”

Josh rubs the back of his neck as he motions for you to entire the bedroom. You feel yourself sobering up with anxiety, the night replaying in your head.

“Joshua, are you just joking with me tonight?”

You needed to know, if this was for real or if it’s just some drunken prank. You knew how you felt but you wouldn’t allow yourself to be hurt if the feelings weren’t truly mutual.

“Trust me, this wasn’t just some drunken kiss. I’ve liked you since like high school y’know?”

Your eyes widened and you hit his chest

“Why didn’t you tell me you dork?”

He chuckle and shrugged his shoulders,

“I didn’t really think you’d like me back.”

You furrowed your brows in shock, how could you not like him. All these years you thought he would never like you. You’re a little younger, everytime you’ve wanted to say something you stop yourself.

“Josh, how could I not?”

You use his same tone as earlier when he answered your question about staring at your ass, earning a laugh from him.

“Hey I was serious! How could I not stare? Acting all innocent then showing up to the party in this…”

He gestures to your tight bunny costume, which earns a spin from you. He steps closer to you and looks you up and down,

“Like what you see?”

He mumbles a ‘Hell yeah’ and grabs your waist pulling you closer, his lips soon on yours.

The kiss starts slow, almost scared that this wasn’t real, but it quickly turns into more. It’s needy and rough, he picks you up and puts you down onto a desk.

His bulge positioned right between your open legs which earns a soft whimper from you. He pushes himself closer to you and begins kissing down your face and neck.

Josh unbuttons his overalls and lets them fall down his frame, leaving him with his underwear and shirt left, quickly he pulls down his boxers and lets his cock spring free.

He rubs himself before lining up to your entrance which is coated and all ready for him. He slips in with ease, both of you releasing a string of curses and moans.

notes about making the digital drawing:

holy shit this took me forever -- I was not kidding about forgetting how to make digital art lmao. I forgot how much less forgiving digital lines are and genuinely lost the spoons to even attempt lineart, hence just a sketch below the colors.

some of you might've seen the original sketch I sent to prince, which the digital version diverges from just a little. it's mostly the halo which I'll explain later, and I finally caved and drew the sixth eye (you can tell I drew and erased it multiple times in the sketch lmao -- still don't know if I prefer it with or without)

here's the original color ref by the lovely @gendermeh! my color scheme ended up looking really different, so some notes about that:

I was looking at references for magpies like this

and I wanted to basically follow that color scheme while also being somewhat similar to the original -- dark head/shoulders --> dark top of the jacket, bright blue wings --> bright blue bottom of the jacket, greenish tailfeathers --> green pants, hints of purple --> purplish sleeve and pant ends

I also tried (and mostly failed, let's be real) to capture the iridescence of the feathers -- they look like oil spilled on the pavement or iridescent hematite to me! I think the key ended up being adding bright greens/purples and roughly blending them into the blues or vice versa but I didn't really figure that out until I got to the pants lol.

I'm gonna be honest; I don't remember why I went with this shape for the tailcoat. I just remember being unhappy with the sketch and then trying a bunch of different shapes that mostly looked worse lol -- I think I landed on this because a split tail kind of looks like wings?

KEPT the shoes -- absolutely magnifique. I wish I knew how to color gold better.

alright, time for some more design notes/explanations + draft sketches!

but first, a couple disclaimers:

I want to make it very clear that I LOVE everything about the original design. I made a lot of changes based on personal preference/the way I interpreted the character. I was actually planning on making a digital piece that was more faithful to the original design too, but I was just out of spoons for it cause of life stuff.

you probably shouldn't try to read the notes I made in the sketches I'm about to show you unless I say otherwise. most of it is incoherent brain vomit in illegible artist handwriting and I'll transcribe/explain the stuff I think is important :) (the stuff in quotes are direct transcriptions of my notes)

I know my sketches are very messy lol. I only draw for fun, so I usually don't force myself to make stuff any neater than necessary unless it's supposed to be a formal piece. try to bear with me.

1:

my first few sketches of them! (I think?) this was before I sent prince a laundry list of questions so I was still trying to get a vibe

"magpie -- beak lips?" -- you'll see this in a few sketches; I considered giving them the lipstick design that velvette has since it looks like a beak. I still kind of think it's cute, but 1) I'm pretty sure velvette is the only character that has them, so I didn't want to make it seem like they were related somehow and 2) I thought it might be distracting with how much other crazy stuff I ended up including in their head/face

also, sidenote since it's relevant to what I said about vel: something I realized was important is how one character's design relates to the designs of the rest of the cast. I wasn't sure how much I should've gone for what looked good in a vacuum, how much should be based on what other characters looked like canonically, or what other characters would look like if I also designed them. it ended up being mostly the second option, but it was honestly still a struggle. should I take away some of the tumblr-sexyman-ness (no shade to tumblr sexymen; I love them) because there are other characters that already have it? should I relate their design to sera's and emily's in the show or should I think about how I would've designed sera and emily? should I follow some of the design philosophy of the original show and just throw stuff on there because it looks cool (the answer is yes btw)? decisions, decisions ...

I don't think this showed up really well in most of the drawings, but they actually have a black line down their nose! let's take a look at sera:

since they're siblings, I wanted to include some similar facial markings. the nose line ended up being the only thing I kept though -- I was going to include freckles, but I have a compulsive need to give every character giant bottom lashes so there ended up being no room T.T I like that the magpie's hints of purple kind of match hers tho!

the wingification of the hair begins! I was still unsure of it at this point, but it was an idea I had since I was kind of struggling with how straight the feathers were in the original.

"maybe the ones on their head count as wings (so only one main pair)" -- I originally just had the 2 pairs of wings on their head, so I was thinking of just giving them 1 pair on their back so there would be still be 6 total. also this middle drawing of them is meant to be their exorcist outfit (I wanted it to be a cross between what the other exorcists wear and sera's outfit)

at this stage, I was thinking of giving them more magpie-like characteristics, so I looked at some references and tried to emulate them in a more human design. this ended up being really awkward so I scrapped it, but I still like the idea that their exorcist mask looks like a bird (kind of like a plague doctor's)

2:

peekaboo! I love the idea of them using the wing hair to cover their eyes lol. (ended up using that idea for my own seraph OC since that's their biblically accurate purpose: to cover their eyes/faces in reverence/humility -- doesn't really fit with tzafael tho lol, so they show their face most of the time)

an eyeball in the bowtie -- pretty self-explanatory. the eyeball motif is important.

the one in the middle is just me practicing drawing the original design, and the one on the right is another exorcist outfit I think. I wanted to include the diamond motif/points that sera has on her dress (the diamonds on the bottom turn into eyeballs, which is why the final design also has eyeballs on tzafael's sleeves/pants)

"localized omniscience (power of sight) -- cool + ironic that their sight was supposed to serve God but made them see Heaven for what it really is instead"

another exorcist outfit, this time including the feathers

I was also experimenting with the halo; I was trying to make it look sort of like sera's crown, but that didn't feel right ...

some practice with eyes -- my style is pretty flexible with eye shapes, so I try to make them suit the character. I drew lute's eye and also an actual magpie's as references -- lute's because of the exorcist background and also because they looked appropriately sharp, magpie's for obvious reasons. once again, my compulsive need for giant bottom lashes strikes

there was honestly a lot to balance with the eyes -- I wanted them to look condescending/bored (lowered top lid) but also amused (raised bottom lid) and like a magpie (round) but also harsh/mischievous (sharp, maybe slit pupils like a snake) and similar to sera's (but not too decorated -- also does it make sense for them to look like sera's if emily's don't even look like sera's?)

considered having wings on the shoulders -- the magpie pattern is super cool, so it would've been nice to have that somewhere more explicitly in the design. I still think that might fit in an outfit they would wear in heaven (maybe for formal occasions)

the introduction of the sweatervest! honestly I kind of love this for the way it captures more of the preppy, spoiled old-money upper-class vibe some heaven residents have, but it was scrapped since I couldn't imagine them wearing that while trying to scare the denizens of hell. maybe something they wear casually though.

"yes nictating membrane (on every eye!)" -- AHH I'm so sad I didn't end up putting this to use. I just feel like the whole effect is based on actually seeing them blink, and I don't animate lol.

4:

ugh, the nefarious laughter one ... don't worry I tried harder on a sketch later on lol.

"like the diamonds on Sera + Em" + "diamonds turn into eyes?" -- I draw the diamonds on the sweatervest turning into eyes later.

tried an actual bow instead of a bowtie -- very cute but didn't fit the vibe.

a skirt! I think they would wear a skirt sometimes.

5:

"FUCK ASS BOB" -- asghdk the wingification of the hair continues. unfortunately, I'm realizing at this point that the silhouette of the hair is starting to look a lot like alastor's. I gave a very half-hearted attempt at mitigating this, but it goes back to the thing of how much I am obligated to the original show's designs and what looks cool to me -- I think the wing hair fits them and I didn't want to change it because of alastor, plus my alastor design actually has completely different hair anyway. I did add a third pair to the back to look like a ponytail though.

introduction of the scarf! I was actually going to include this in the final design but uh,,, I forgor. are you starting to see a pattern.

the reason for the scarf is that the "tzafael going to places they know they'll draw attention/can incite chaos" reminded me of that scene in avengers where loki walks into a fancy building looking pretentious af and just casually stabs a guy's eye out. not really the same thing but I felt like the vibe matched. hence, loki's funny little scarf fit.

6:

uaoughdfjh it was SO FUN to draw the wing hair, and it was at this point that I realized they had to stay even though I wasn't sure if it was too different from the original.

gossiping with rosie cause that's the first person I thought of -- tzafael also summoned a pearl necklace to clutch because of the sheer drama of it all (your ex-husband did what??)

also started drawing the rings on their hands. magpie like shiny.

7:

lots of notes cause I was trying to compile the things I still needed to think about/incorporate into the final (I thought this was gonna be the last draft ... haha)

trying to include more bird/eye motifs

"fish ... purse?" -- ha! I forgot I was gonna give them a fish purse. I think I drew that in a later sketch, but not them wearing it.

"picked up Hellish traits bc of extended stay -- existential crisis?" -- I asked prince about the sharp teeth, and their answer implied that they became sharp as they stayed in hell longer, which got me thinking ... I feel like that's actually a great body horror concept. lucifer falling and looking like a normal angel at first, eventually waking up to more and more devilish features and feeling more and more like he's lost his home and his past self ... spooky.

another exorcist outfit -- I actually really like the eyes on the ribs! I never made a final draft for the exorcist uniform, but it would probably look close to what I drew here.

the one on the bottom was meant to be similar to the feathered shoulder pad idea, but this time with the whole magpie (with giant eyes). tried putting the "freckles" (really just dots in this case) over their brows, but that ended up looking kinda weird.

the one on the right was supposed to be the full final design, but I was totally off lol -- the long trench coat really doesn't give off the right vibe at all

I never got happy with the design of the back of the coat -- I think it should probably just be blank at this point. but the sketch here is meant to look like wings/tailfeathers.

yet another exorcist outfit, this time with more magpie motifs. I actually like this one a lot, but I probably should've added the eyes on the ribs from the last sketch. I think I also considered giving them actual tailfeathers at this point.

this is after I finished the sketch for the final piece and realized I didn't like the halo design. I drew lute's, sera's, em's, and adam's as refs. (honestly I love the show's idea that each person/people of each rank have a different kind of halo -- I wonder if they can switch them out?)

my main inspiration ended up being the exorcist halo, but I made it look more like an eyeball -- since it always points toward heaven, we can say it's always "looking" at heaven.

I think anybody who thinks autism is more "accepted" nowadays is either in denial or can't see outside themselves. What we actually did is just popularize a really weird infantilized perception of autism that focuses on the symptoms that can be repackaged as "cute" or "quirky," and are continuing to treat people with inconvenient or even upsetting symptoms like garbage. And no I'm not talking about bigots who pull the "I'm literally neurodivergent" bs I'm talking about supposed allies telling me I'm acting like a child for getting too emotional when I literally have "Can't Regulate My Emotions" disorder, or that I'm moving weird, or that my voice never has the right tone to it. Sorry my autism doesn't stop and end at hand flapping and dinosaurs lmao I can gaurantee I'm not enjoying my meltdown any more than you are, buddy! In fact, I'd say I'm having a far worse time than you! I do not make a choice to be emotionally volatile nor do I feel good when I get upset. It's not my fault that emoting "properly" is a performance that takes energy and I really can't do it 100% of the time. Like idk it honestly feels like I still have to mask in supposedly progressive spaces just in a different way.

And of course this doesn't even start to get into people with higher support needs than me who are rarely acknowledged unless they themselves are doing it. It's one of the reasons those posts that are like "Do you think neurodivergence is just autism/adhd, and not (heavily stigmatized other disorder)?" rub me the wrong way. They always seem to be addressing the most sanitized version of autism possible which strikes me as counter intuitive to the point being made. And don't get me wrong, as a system I understand why it's being said but it just really frustrates me because the people these posts are about don't actually think severe cases of autism or adhd are neurodivergence either! They treat higher support needs people with the same disorders like shit!

No I do not think anyone who's ever made a post like that is a bad person nor do I expect every post to have a disclaimer containing every possible nuance but I do think a lot of them are not written with the existence of high support needs or "weird" autism symptoms in mind, which inadvertently feeds into this "palatable autism" thing people keep doing

for some reason i'm interested the idea of poke!ren beginning our friendship with that like... unintentional infantilization a lot of people do with disabled people when they're trying not to be actively ableist? not because i enjoy that LMAO ABSOLUTELY NOT -- and my pokesona is prideful as hell and would DESPISE it -- but i think it would make sense.

[cw casual ableism, infantilism of disabled ppl. also, disclaimer: i'm basing some of this loosely on my own health issues so it may not 100% apply to all disabled people. just want to keep that straight LMAO.]

most many doctors are SUPREMELY ableist, but doc!ren went into his field SPECIFICALLY to help disabled people and so focused on how best to treat each individual person according to their personalities and disabilities. sure, poke!ren's also technically both a clinical doc and researcher, but if doc!ren is like 80% clinical 20% research, poke!ren is like 10% clinical 90% research.

so poke!ren... doesn't have that knowledge. he does mostly field work and some lab work, with the rare "what do you think about this specific medical case?" appointment. he's the kind of person who hates the more vocal brands of ableism, but is consistently overbearing with his treatment of disabled people in a way that's inadvertently exhausting to deal with because "what happens if i tell him this is also ableist? will he have a fit? will he get angry or upset? will he decide disabled people are too picky if i'm not the Perfect Disabled Little Meow Meow?" so you just end up suffering through it.

therefore, he goes full "paper skin, glass bones," with me, very, "oh i can get that for you! no don't stand up, i can do that. can i cook something for you? no no no, i mean, i know you COULD, but wouldn't it be /easier/ for me to make it for you? you might hurt yourself!". 🙄

we have an evening outing in another city. it gets dark, we're not at the point where we're comfortable staying at his place together, he offers to maybe help me find a hotel, and i say "nope i've got this!" and fly away home on a Fucking Lugia.

and then he has to sit with that and realize some things.

like the fact that he has no idea who the fuck i am beyond surface level. after all, i've been carrying a legendary bird around in my back pocket and he didn't know until now, months after we first met.

like the fact that i can take care of SOME things by myself with the right "tools" or pkmn. i SOMETIMES need help, but i don't ALWAYS need help, and if i DO need help i have the option to tell him myself.

like the fact that he simply saw me as Disabled. as though i didn't have a life before or outside of Disability. i was simply the pitiable, lonely, disabled vn nerd he talks about games with.

and then he has to relearn Me from square one, and it makes our relationship so much stronger. we're able to work on our perfect balance together and build the trust that HE won't take things over for ME when I'M capable of something, and that I will let HIM know when i need HIM to do something I can't do. he has to trust that i'll let him be more doting on the days when i'm having flare-ups, but simultaneously has to respect when there are things i still want to do myself even on those worst days.

.........idk. this is a lot of words to say "god i want to be taken care of, but in a way where the other person sees me as an adult with a personality and decision-making ability and a life that's deeply AFFECTED by disability in many ways but isn't JUST disability." yk?

tbch, after writing it all out, this maaaay end up as canon..... OR it might remain a theoretical offshoot depending on how comfy i am when the Mental Movies (tm) of us finding that trust come together. poke!ren's supposed to be like. PURE escapism, so something like this honestly might hit too close to home to feel good fdhfghfg. like at least he'd end up learning that balance, which is nice... but everything leading up to it? 😬 Maybe A Bit Too Painful....

I can't wait to see more of them next season, and I hope Fresh doesn't fuck around with them like they've done with other ships 🤞

emwayne (emma x wayne): while I understand where the zemma shippers are coming from, I'm gonna have to say that I can see them as a pairing, but mostly I see zee and emma as friends than lovers. moving onto wayne and emma, I've seen a couple of rlly cute fanart abt them that roped me into rooting for them; also, I saw this tumblr post that talked abt wayne helping emma see that her and chase aren't right for each other bc of the break between bowie and emma's friendship; I thought it'd be cute that emma realizes what an actual relationship is supposed to be like based on the way wayne treats her and the two grow closer as he helps her come into herself more. overall, really cute pairing!!

chazee (chase x zee): okay, hear me out on this one. before the season came out, when all I knew abt everyone were those random pics of episodes, I remember wishing chase to be gay (or bi or smth that isn't straight or he realizes he's not straight while in the show) bc it'd break that stereotype which I thought would be cool--and I shipped him with zee like offhandedly, nothing extreme, just lowkey. like I thought their shipname was cute (chazee?? hello?? literally adorable?? and I've found out that ppl are calling them cheese now too and fdhdjf that just makes it cuter). then I started watching the season and got to know chase's whole personality, I was like 'ehhhh' and this pairing just...got shunted to the far corners of my mind. THEN I came across this freaking adorable fic of these two (it's this one!) that somehow converted me back to shipping these two??? then I started thinking up random scenarios involving the two and yeah imma say I adore these two. idk I feel like zee would be good for chase, like their way of viewing the world would be pretty helpful for someone like chase?? (plus the whole sexuality crisis can still exist on chase's end bc imo zee is the kinda person to already be aware of a lot of things abt him (their gender, their sexuality, etc) but not put much emphasis on it, y'feel?), and maybe chase's way of expressing himself would balance out zee's??? who knows?? idk I feel like this ship has a lot of potential and it's worth exploring-

YES I felt so bad for kid aemond you can tell he wanted to be friends with nyras kids, like when he smiled at them at the funeral, but they were such dicks to him. One of the things that made me love him was how he did a 1080 on his personality and went fuck it idc if nobody likes me, im doing me. I literally love you so much literally my top favorites of season one are aemond and alicent. AND I LOVE YOU for hating rhaenyra, her kids, and especially daemon I HATE THEM (I really fucking hate daemon with a passion) BUT NOBODY EVER AGREES WITH ME. They’re the fan favorites and people are so insufferable about them. So for some quick book lore neither side is supposed to be the clear “good guys”, yes of course nyra is the heir and should inherit but there’s so many things in the book that makes her not a good guy just like people on the greens side. But instead the show runners decided to make team black the “good guys” that do no wrong and team green the “bad guys” that have no redeeming qualities. They took away most of nyras bad qualities and made people on team green way worse than they were in the books. I could go on and on about this because it pisses me off 🙄 and honestly I hate them all even more in season 2. I feel like I have to give you a disclaimer I really really didn’t like season 2 as much as season 1, they changed a lot of things from the book and even changed a lot from season 1. But I’ll get into that once you finish season 2 lol. Unfortunately my favs for season 2 are aemond and aegon and I hate alicent, which I never thought I would say 😔

The dragons are my favorite too, I’ve always been obsessed with dragons since I was a kid! I love vhagar so so much I have like 3 different tshirts of her, stickers, paintings, and a model statue of her 🥲 people on social media were so mad at her when she ate luke saying she needed to die like how the fuck are you gonna blame a dragon for eating the dragon that attacked her lmao. Quick lore too I can’t remember if this is mentioned? But because vhagar is the oldest dragon and the only one that was alive during the conqueror’s reign she’s the only “war dragon” basically, she’s the only one that’s been in wars and is experienced. All the other dragons are relatively new and lived during times of peace. So vhagar is really that girl, she’s a badass, she takes no shit lol.

the size kink was fun to see. w the way the story was written it kinda felt like it was steering towards monster fucking territory w how mammon was acting

it was also giving "if only mc were more emotionally closer to mammon they would eat his ass" kinda vibes (yes there is a line in his butt story that says that). big disclaimer i've pretty much only read all of mammon's and juno's card stories (if this isnt a clear sign that im into submissive and breedable men idk what is LOL /hj), and there seems to be a bit of an emotional disconnect btwn mc and the devils? mammon was right on calling them out for having a perverted mind, which makes me inclined to wonder if mc actually loves one of the devils outside of what they can provide physically. it could also be a lack of context tbh, considering there has to be some sort of timeskip if mc is able to somewhat properly channel solomon's abilities compared to ch1 or ch4. idk, from the get-go the sole reason this story happened in the first place was bc mc was willing to protect mammon, and the thought process of that idea is what turned mammon on. he loves mc unconditionally and he hopes that one day mc would love him back, but it feels like mc is more lustful than anything

imma be real i have no idea how dating sims are supposed to work, i normally play sci-fi arpgs/roguelike strategy games and i sense more love btwn the chars and mc there than in an actual dating game HJGKDFHG

disclaimer: i intend on finishing these fics so what im going to be talking about is inspirations and unfinished / abandoned ideas and other ideas i have for the works instead of anything relating to the plots themselves

for svadd, sj is a lot more complicated than he appears to be on the surface. im not so sure if what i have written currently is what i /want/ exactly because i know i want his character to go a certain way. the relationships between him and his modern-day friends is one meant to parallel the in-game "shen qingqiu" sj compares himself to and in much the same way, mirror the way that sy contrasts himself with sqq in canon: but instead of being condescending and viewing sqq as a one dimensional character, sj is able to appreciate his nuance while still being rightfully angry over his actions

to me, sj is supposed to be an unreliable narrator who constantly enforces his own thoughts. he tells himself over and over that he misses his home and that he wants to go back, that he absolutely needs to- but then, he turns the other way and finds himself being sucked even deeper into this different one.

i also really wanted to explore how sjs dynamic with a lot of the characters would be affected knowing that they were "based off" his real friends, but again im not very confident with how it came off lol

there was a lot of points in the story where i attempted to add in foreshadowing for the ending i want the story to take... in any case, it definitely wont go the same way as vadd, though i did toy with the idea of a "version" of sy being the main villain haha

as for the roxanna au there are a lot of things ive wanted to do with this au and its good that i havent posted because it means i can keep revising til i come up with something good lol

its a liujiu au with some bingyuan / cumplane thrown into the mix (the cumplane is overwhelmingly toxic btw bingyuan is the healthy one out of the two here 😭) where yes sj is xana !!! he really just makes such a good manhwa villainess haha

i had been puzzling over what i wanted his motif to be-- after all, sj is typically associated with the simplicity and calming bamboo so the glittering butterflies wouldnt work with him- but after some deliberation i decided with using moths for him :3c still subject to change ofc but i think im happy with this as is

the story is somewhat similar to how roxanna goes but surprise sj isnt the transmigrator here! (and honestly, roxanna wouldve been sm better if xana hadnt been a transmigrator... or maybe i just think that because it was only used as a convenient plot point for her to know crucial info. sigh.)

my outline of how the roxanna au goes is basically this:

sj who has been seeing dreams of the "book" sy read knows what will happen to his family if lqg dies

etc

at the same time: sy, transmigrator, attempts to make sure his only surviving older brother lives to a long happy life and the only way he can secure this is by fucking up that hack author

also i killed off qi-ge and idk if i want him to come back. he'll be like the stereotypical dead anime mother for this au lmao

I imagined Philip as looking more like Philza Minecraft, to be completely honest. So tell me why they made him kinda..???

THEY FUCKED UP HIS CHARACTERIZATION (imo). In the book, he’s just a victim of what he was born into as well. He’s rigid & kinda a dick because it was what he was taught to be to survive, the movie completely took that away, giving him literally two scenes.

AND THEN THEY GIVE GOOD GRACE TO THE KING? Bro. No. Stop it.

I feel as though they were afraid to criticize the British monarchy too hard, which is why they gave the king the good grace they did (plus other changes done, I don’t think they included the cliticization of the British Museum stealing all those artifacts either)

Frothing at the mouth over the fact they not only took away Luna, but completely got rid of the fucking sex abuse scandal in favor of a jealousy plot. Explodes you with my mind.

Going back to my point above that one, I feel they might not have wanted to add that seeing how many Richards are out there. Can’t fan too many flames, huh?

They also gave Bea way less screen time, & took away the whole “Powder Princess” thing, I think the way they talked about their dad passing & how it effects the family was kind of cheap.

AND they fucked up Henry’s moms characterization. She just straight up wasn’t in it, only mentioned, & in a negative light. Again, they really didn’t give the dad passing the attention it deserved.

The beginning went by pretty damn fast. But in all fairness for that & I suppose a lot of points, the movies already two hours long with all that missing, so I suppose I can give some leniency on some of these points.

June obviously wasn’t there either, but it at least doesn’t feel like anybody’s missing. I guess they managed the Nora & June merge well. THEY DID NOT MANAGE THE LIAM & LUNA MERGE WELL.

Seriously fuck them for taking away Luna & subsequently his character arc

Really liked how they did the phone calls, with them appearing in front & them as though they’re in the same room, together. Great touch.

Edit to add this bullet point because it’s really important to me. Alex says he’s bisexual, Henry says he’s gay. Ellen asks if Alex is gay, fluid, bi, pan. Ellen references transgender people. They talk about the LGBT+ community. They say all these words, they don’t whisper them, or talk around them. They say them loud & clear as day. Idk, this just makes me really happy because of how often you’ll see people talk around these words like they’re bad or dirty words (yes I’m aware this is a movie where they have gay sex multiple times on screen but it’s still important to me shut up)

FINAL THOUGHTS.

It was alright. I don’t regret watching it. It was entertaining, but admittedly not the type of movie I’d usually watch, so I think other people could enjoy it way more then I did. But I definitely still enjoyed it despite all my criticisms.

Definitely not as good as the book, but not bad at all. I’d say it’s absolutely worth the watch.

I’m sure you can also find posts that can better articulate why this movie is so groundbreaking & important as well, which is something I didn’t particularly touch on in this post.

I have had the WEIRDEST dream... not that I'm complaining and you'll see why in a sec. I think for this dream i was my wasp-human-like OC named Andrena, if you don't know her story it's basically that she goes around different time periods and universes to change their history with her husband, but she usually doesn't stick around to see HOW she changed it. that's for other people to live through. when she goes to the 17th century, which is when presumably the dream was, she dresses up as a man. so that's how I was, which was... weirdly affirming.

anyway, the whole story is under the cut, in which I give William III a concussion (??). disclaimer I would not do any of this irl my mind was just acting up... but it was kinda fun ngl

there was some kind of situation going on with the king, I don't remember exactly what it was, but I remember the fucking way my heart JUMPED at hearing that there was a king. logically Andrena would have known that there was one and that was why she was here, but the me inside of her was like OH SHIT??? SHIT??? WELL WHO IS IT??

it was William! I still don't know exactly how I came to know that, I think I caught a glimpse of him walking by with a few others following him. I tell you seeing him in the flesh (obv in my head and all) hit some kinda way

much of that from there is kind of a weird blur, I think it was night, and I just walked around the place, might have been a palace, but it was weirdly dark and confining so it didn't feel like one. shadows were EVERYWHERE, and I noticed this weird one with wings that the moon's light fell through and antennae....that was me!!! it was such a thrill to find LMAO

then William walked past, this time alone, and what I remember most abt that was that he was yawning. and I was like YES and I follow him, asking him how was his day and all that, trying to make conversation, and the way my heart is just SNAPPING bc he seems rlly annoyed. maybe not with me, idk what it is, but yeah he was rlly brief with his answers, so I get annoyed too. I remember thinking, in this weird completely uncharacteristic way for me but I suppose characteristic for Andrena, that Kowloon (her husband) wouldn't have waited this long.

so I just kinda wiggle my tail (which I didn't even notice I had up until then!!) and then pounce at him, fucking pin his arms behind him and cover his mouth with my hand. that was the most vivid part, I distinctly remember the warm breaths from his nose hitting my hand, how uneven they were, how they quickened when he realized what was happening. another thing I noticed was that he was noticeably smaller than me....I think irl I'm about his height but Andrena is actually pretty tall, so it was weird seeing the height difference!! I remember thinking that this would be easy, then.

he struggled like a real BITCH in my arms, glaring back at me with just the most beautiful expression of defiance I've ever seen, and I just started laughing bc I was so happy. idk why. i pin him to the wall and I laugh even harder at the fierce way hes looking at me, and I start asking him "waar is zij, baby, waar is zij?" that means 'where is she.' I think I was referring to Mary, and tbh idk if she was dead at this time or if she just wasn't there. but yeah it made him even angrier, he thrashed around like crazy, and I was like, "awww" and laughing bc idk. it was funny to me or maybe to Andrena idk irl I would not have the balls to do this I promise. and I kept saying "het is goed" (which may or may not be influenced by smth I read once, HMM.) to him while I flicked the stinger in my tail out and OUGHHH. the fear in his eyes when he saw it. it was beautiful. I could feel his mouth trying to open under my hand but I just dug my claws in (Andrena has claws yes next question) and warned him to shut up.

so I sting him in his thigh, and he makes this sweet little grunt bc hi it probably hurts and his body jolts for a second there. but this BITCH keeps on fighting, trying to kick out at me, so I sting him a few more times, and he kinda starts slowing down, his eyes get ADORABLY blinky and sleepy, and I was like "awwhaha see you're prettier when you're quiet" and he STILL attempts to glare at me. I sting him one last time and then start slamming his head against the wall repeatedly, and fuck man it sounded like it HURT. like I remember being slightly alarmed but having no intention of stopping, not until he stopped moving. he gave me this fun little ditzy look, like he was confused or exhausted or rlly in pain I'm not sure, and I kinda bring him closer to me so he falls limp against me and I say "there's just a king across the water that really wants you dead, do you know him? yesss I think you know him"

which like. holy shit it fits perfectly well with Andrena's story bc she's canonically a Jacobite. so good on my brain for being consistent!

then I lifted him up in my arms, he was REALLY fucking light, and I was like. I need to go show my husband

AND THEN I WOKE UP!! which was so disappointing bc I was rlly looking forward to manhandling him while he was conked out :(( but well I can't complain... I got my whumpy dream with him and it got pretty far

I have to admit my questions are mostly rather technical, so I hope that's not too boring - or too convoluted or finnicky for something that was only meant to be a fun bit of what if. So I suppose I'm just wondering about the logistical details, things like, for example: What would the mechanics of the time travel be? Is present day Crowley hopping into the past and/or future to find stuff out or is future Crowley visiting the present to change things? Considering I've seen some people say there might be three sideburn lengths and the fact that there are changes in the minisodes too, could past Crowley also be getting involved? Which Crowley is which and how do concepts like doubling yourself up or changing vs diverging timelines fit in? I think the theory might change based on what kind of time travel you're using because that affects how much agency Crowley and of course, depending on whether past, present or future Crowley is doing the travelling to the past, present or future, the motivation and available knowledge changes, which is why I started thinking about it, but feel free to ignore this if I'm being excessively complicated!

oh gosh no dw, questions make me look at stuff from different angles and consider holes in it etc., so always welcome them!!!✨

i definitely didn't notice the job hair length changing, so that's something that i need to rewatch and mark out scene-for-scene where the lengths change and whether it's particularly crucial scenes etc., the dialogue said/actions taken by crowley in those scenes etc., and try to work out the specific motive.

i think - again, struggling to take myself seriously here - that present crowley might not be in on the whole thing, but then again if we consider that present crowley was off doing Tactical Turtleneck things, then future crowley would know how to work around him... idk im just spitballing now.

originally, i had thought it might him working to try and save aziraphale (ie prevent him going to heaven) bc Something Terrible happens to him in s3... but unfortunately aziraphale goes anyway bc it's part of the Great or Ineffable Plan (latter being that aziraphale actively chooses to go to heaven in any eventuality, possibly because of the threat that metatron poses?) and crowley is - essentially - always Too Late.

but the spanner in the works is that he might have gone further back than i thought, which would indicate that there may be a bigger threat or purpose to it? hmmm...
