TLDR Headcanon that Corazon/Rosinante fought tooth and nail to keep his kindness.

Corazon fought his circumstances, first as a Celestial Dragon who was encouraged to be cruel, second as a child who was hunted and hurt for his people’s crimes, third as a freshly traumatized boy whose life was defined by the hatred and violence of the streets, fourth as an orphan taken in by a vice admiral, and fifth as Doflamingo’s right hand man.

I mean, I see a good amount of content pointing out the horrors Rosinante faced in his childhood as he was persecuted by the people who he held no ill will against, but so often I see people brush off the trauma he must have faced growing up in the marines.

Like, you snatch up some poor, scared, hurting child, and drop them in the center of a marine base? Imagine what he must have seen. Imagine the feeling of being on the edge of shipping out for battle, the feeling of returning from a buster call with fresh blood on your hands, imagine the feeling of seeing this as the background of your adolescent life.

Being a marine crushes soft hearts, and has little patience for anyone willing to question their violence. Corazon would have been in an environment where any perceived “weakness” was a fault to be exploited or destroyed. So it’s easy to imagine that it would have been a conscious decision to stay soft. To stay kind.

Hell, life as a marine, much less as a child raised by and around marines, would have necessitated leaving anything as “useless” as kindness behind for the majority of their time. And I know that marines can be kind, and that many of them are; it’s just that Rosinante would have been raised in the heart of an organization that runs on wars. There’s no way that their calloused, cruel almost, ideals wouldn’t have gotten internalized.

So with that context in place, Cora would have had to fight to keep his bleeding heart. Every circumstance demanded that he become cold, but instead, against everything that normally would have happened, he didn’t.

Like, this is a guy who is defined by his actions. We remember him as the man who died to save Law. We remember him as the man who acted as his brothers Corazon. But more than this, we remember him as the man who went out of his way to make a sad, angry, child smile; and who was fully committed to ensuring that Law lived, even at the expense of his own life.

Cora has undoubtedly done some horrible, violent, things in his lifetime, but throughout it all he remained, at his core, kind.

Headcanon, theory, prediction, whatever you want to call it,

but I think the reason that the universe Miquel hijacked collapsed, and not Miles, despite them both being “anomalies” is because Miquel was trying to change someone else’s story, as opposed to Miles who inspires other people to change their own stories.

Like, Miquel tried to force himself into a universe that wasn’t his. He took the place of his counterpart and pretended to be him, he was playing a part that wasn’t meant for him, he was changing a story that wasn’t his. And the universe rejected that.

Whereas Miles inspires people to change their own stories. His universe didn’t collapse because that’s HIS universe. It’s HIS story to tell, and sure the plot changed along the way, but he’s still telling it.

The same with 42-Miles. His story was drastically changed because he wasn’t bitten by that spider, but his universe isn’t collapsing because he’s the one still telling the story. He’s still shaping his own future.

And like how Miles inspired Peter B to have Mayday at all. Without Miles, Peter wouldn’t have gone back to his and he wouldn’t have had Mayday. But his universe isn’t collapsing because that’s a decision PETER made. No one forced him to make up with MJ and have Mayday. But Miles gave him faith and inspired him to go back and give life another try. (Don’t even get me started how Peter would have literally DIED if not for Miles. He was going to stay in Miles dimension. He was fully ready to deteriorate. He literally would have died if not for Miles saying “NO BITCH YOU GOTTA GO HOME” much less inspiring him to have Mayday, I’m just saying I’m just saying.)

And the thing is I don’t think Miquel realizes that. He’s so caught up in his grief and anger that he’s completely consumed with following canon and my never disrupting ANYTHING. He doesn’t realize that that universe collapsed because he tried to change someone ELSES story. He tried to become someone else to live their story. He didn’t try to make his own and that’s not how it works.

I've said it before but I'm gonna say it again - I'm sick and tired of seeing Shane being portrayed as this skinny, clean, twink. one of his dialogue options is him saying he's gaining weight, and he's an alcoholic and has been since before the farmer met him - he's not gonna be this perfect white boy. he's greasy, dirty, fat and all that jazz, yknow?

its all a key part of his character and it's so frustrating to see it be ignored just bcs ppl are so focused on what's conveniently attractive. fat guys are hot, messy guys are hot, like bfr.

with the obvious addendum that act 3 isn’t out yet and we can’t form true opinions until the show’s officially done, i’m still really feeling like it could have maybe benefited from a third season. they’re hitting all the right plot points and those moments are full of really intense emotion, but everything in the middle feels so underwhelming in comparison and so much of it still feels rushed to me. idk

hello i am once again thinking about grim, and by extension the heartslabyul duo because if there’s anything else that lives in my head rent-free it’s how the main four are as close as friends as they are throughout the entire game so far.

(help this ramble became longer than i intended)

-> i know it's a pattern that the previous dorms help out in the next book which means once book 7 ends, we’re assuming book 8 would be about ramshackle(?). which means it’s diasomnia’s turn to have a big role in the following dorm. -> but it got me thinking. throughout the books, heartslabyul (specifically adeuce) is always present somehow. no matter how much screen time they actually have and how relevant they are to the conflict at that time. (actually i think something similar could be said with diasomnia but i want to focus mainly on adeuce) -> throughout the books, we're just set up with how good of friends the four are. the prologue, books 1 and 2 start to develop the four's chemistry together, and by book 3 we get one of the first signs that yuu cares about these three to the point they're willing to risk it because their dumbasses decided to sign a deal with azul. -> in book 4, while adeuce didn't have much involvement, i believe twst JUST hammers home that all four of them are friends friends. we are shown how ace and deuce went through all the trouble of transportation DURING THE HOLIDAYS because they thought yuu and grim were in trouble. like they could've easily just went "hey it must have been nothing" but they were worried enough to go check on them, not even thinking that someone else could've had handled it already.

-> since the pattern was that the previous dorm helps the next dorm, why does it seem like in book 5 it seems that heartslabyul, or at least, adeuce has as much of a big role as scarabia? the scarabia duo was there to notice the signs with vil but it was deuce who dealt the last blow to him. (honestly i don't remember much but i don't know how much help scarabia even helped pomefiore other than being in vdc hhh) -> so then it made me think, huh. it's like twst is setting up that these two will be more important than we think and will definitely not be going away soon. -> and then THE END OF BOOK 6. ouughh the end of book 6. their reunion just solidified for me how much they all care about each other. adeuce were not prompted by a direct "we're in trouble, help us" text this time. they just found out yuu and grim were somewhere in danger and it agonized them that they could do nothing about it but wait and hope they're safe. -> book 7 finally we're back to finding out ways to help yuu get home. and since they're all admittedly close friends (dare i say found family) at this point without explicitly stating it, i get the vibes of "we'll help you get home because we care about you but we're not going to think about the depressing possibility we might never see each other ever again".

-> so very abrupt transition;;; this led me to thinking about the overall “alice in wonderland” theme throughout twst. -> is that why adeuce has been with us this entire time? to remind us of that theme? we are in twisted wonderland after all. (I'm not really sure about the thought of yuu being alice but it's an interesting one to consider too) -> to tie in more with the alice in wonderland theme, i'm briefly going to go back to diasomnia. in book 7, there's like a theme of dreams. in fact, throughout the game it was all about dreams and visions and stuff. and in book 7 we're just diving into it. -> and in the story of alice in wonderland, there seems to be the implication that everything that happened in wonderland was just based on a crazy dream that alice had. like we don't know if anything was ever real. (i'm not really a fan of the "it's all a dream" twist but the connections got the gears in my brain turning) (also mickey must be relevant too but i have no thoughts about the implications of his existence at the moment 💀) -> i know we're not done with diasomnia's book but it seems to be set up as a catalyst for something bigger along the line (thinking about the possibility that there is even something bigger than a malleus overblot is very wild to say the least)

-> SO ANOTHER abrupt transition but still related, i thought about the parallel between the "overblot grim" in the beginning of the game and the "jabberwock(y)" in alice in wonderland. they're both chimera-like creatures that are like the final bosses or something. -> and what if a way for yuu to "go home" is to "slay" the jabberwocky (or in this case the overblot grim) just like in the story of alice in wonderland / through the looking glass. -> there's theories i believe that ace is set up to be some kind of "trump card" based on his name and the fact his unique magic isn't revealed yet. but also i want to add deuce in there too remembering how he held a big role in stopping vil in book 4 like some kind of foreshadowing. -> maybe the main role diasomnia will have is only about all these dream shenanigans. and i'd like to think instead that at the end of the day, this conflict with an overblotted grim is ultimately between our main four. some representations based off alice in wonderland. -> going full circle, is this why we have been shown so much of the friendship between all four of them? to establish this possible eventual conflict? and to make it harder for us to choose about "going home"? do we even get the choice?

do we "slay" the jabberwocky or will we decide to stay in this seemingly dreamlike fantasy wonderland instead?

I need to go deep dive Ultrakill's lore again. Because not only humans go to hell but their creations of war is also in hell. Why are they down there? Its not like they can comprehend the torture hell put them through. Did they 'die' and got sent there? How do they 'die' then? Did they go down to hell themselves? Why? What made them leave Earth for hell?

Are they the real remaining machines from the War Era? Or are they just what hell conjured up for torture? Because Earthmovers were supposed to be dead, they're supposed to need sunlight to work aswell, but they're alive and well in hell.

Why do they bleed like humans do? Why do they have guts and organs in them like humans do?

Is it because humanity has stooped so low, so cruel, that they've lost their humanity? So low that they are equal to the war machines they've created in the eyes of hell? Because they put their own blood and guts in machines for the sake of war that they've indirectly given their humanities away to robots?
