it's crazy that we don't invoke it more bc aside from it being this iconic, overarching theme, it is so so insanely applicable???? for one, it's the perfect encapsulation of their relationship so far, such as it is: miles spending so much of atsv watching hobie's mouth, figuratively - for the damning proof of his relationship with gwen, for the disregard he expected, for all the references and slang and talk in general going over his head - when hobie actually showed him his hand almost as soon as they met. when he kept on doing it; when he was shaking miles' shoulders in mumbattan, when hobie was doing magic tricks for him and filching parts from hq to make his own watch, when he showed him he could break free. when miles wasn't even there to watch hobie throw off his ties to the society and walk out rather than join the hunt for him

and idk maybe other ppl disagree, but as far as i'm concerned: of course miles didn't see it. bc he's been taught to distrust the hands, from the get-go. from itsv to atsv - from kingpin's fists beating peter parker to death right in front of him to the prowler's gauntlets to miguel's claws tearing holes in his suit and the go-home machine's forcefield alike to the prowler's gauntlets--

(the prowler's gauntlets that another hobie brown wears in another universe. that connect them even when they represent the opposite of connection, for miles)

with all that in mind, is it any wonder he wouldn't see what hobie was showing him, at first? with all that in mind, isn't it amazing that hobie says "palms" and miles trusts him enough to listen? to try?

no no no you're onto something-

There's so many Peter in Gotham Fics that nobody has touched the untapped Goldmine that is Miles in Gotham Fics. Even better if they're both transported to Gotham.

Because with the Peter in Gotham Fics, you have Dick as either that universes Peter (it's rare but it happens) or more commonly that He is that Universes Richard Parker (Add in Jason being that universes Uncle Ben and Peter's Mom being either Babs or Alfred's Niece) and the Batfam either recognizes Peter's from another universe, think he's a Clone of Dick, or that he's a Time Traveler.

But nobody has Touched on Miles being a perfect Variant/Son of Duke Thomas.

Aside from the Spider based powers Miles can Turn Invisible and generate Electric Shocks/Venom Blasts. You wanna know what that sounds like a variant of? Duke's Meta ability. His Photo-Kinesis and Umbra-Kinesis allow for the manipulation of Light and Shadow respectively, with Duke able to manipulate them both with extreme precision. And what does Miles powers seem to do? Manipulate light and shadow to make him invisible, and release built up Light by converting that energy into Electric Blasts. If Miles Appeared in Gotham, they would all assume that Miles was Duke's Kid/Clone/Variant, and he'd have no evidence to refute any of it.

Duke does technically have a Cousin called Jay, so having his full name be "Jay Aaron Thomas" would give Miles his Uncle Aaron, but we could also have Duke have an Uncle Aaron of his own.

Now picture this:

It's a MCU Miles and MCU Peter who got brought to Gotham at Different Times, with them both being 17 (or Miles Being 15 and him having taken up the Spider-Man role just a month before and being mentored by Peter) and crashing together. Miles knows Peter as Peter is his Mentor/Died and Miles Took up the Mantle of Spider-Man, but Peter can vaguely remember his search for the Vulture meeting an Aaron with a kid Nephew named Miles. And so, they both decide to work together to find a way back, go to the Gotham Library to search up the best way to get Miles or Peter back to their own times and back to New York, and Babs is just sitting there shocked because she can clearly see Duke is on patrol on her Monitor and halfway across the City, so how is there a second Duke with a Mini-Dick next to him walking into her library looking like they're beat to hell and back?

Well, now as both Peter and Miles are panicking because they're in a new universe, Babs is trying to get Dick and Duke down to her Library stat because she is absolutely not letting whoever hurt her, well (Family?/Cloned Family Members?/Time Traveling Nephew's???), let's just say Her Spider's, and not get them DNA Tested and medically checked. And both Miles and Peter are panicking because, oh my God, why the fuck are their DAD'S HERE?!?!?!

And of course they bolt, and all the usual shenanigans ensue with the Batfam now having to track down 2 new possible family members (Clones are Family Too) AND see if these new Spider Themed Vigilante's, who both call themselves Spider-Man, are trustworthy and are trained enough.

Champions (2016) is actually a really sweet series being a team-up of most of the popular solo teen heroes of the 2010s, and it really delves into the friendships between them. All of the dynamics are so fun. Okay no one is paying attention anymore, it's time to talk about Cyclops getting a support system! That was so cute. (Scott and Amadeus dynamic is best dynamic).

I would've genuinely loved seeing Gwen recruiting the rest of the Spider-Gang at the end of ATSV. You think she just showed up at Spider-Ham or Noir's dimension, and since neither of them were at HQ (were those two even part of the Spider-Society?) and likely didn't know what happened the situation was like "Oh hey Gwen how are yo--" "Miles is in trouble and we need to help him and save his dad and the multiverse from being destroyed so get in the portal" "What"

No but really I would've loved seeing the rest of the team getting together. She most likely didn't go ask everyone but instead Peter or Hobie helped them get the others lmao. Deep admiration for Pav, Margo and Hobie for joining the band because while Gwen and Peter B were the closest to him and Ham, Noir and Peni were also there in ITSV, those other three had known Miles for only a few hours and still joined in. In Pavitr's case Miles helped him, so of course he's gonna help him back the moment they tell him Miles is in trouble, and Hobie had already helped him escape before, and Margo had only interacted with him like twice and she still joined the band. Deep respect for those two boys and that girl lmao.
