Reasons I would never be in a fantasy novel:

I have two parents, both of them very much alive, and I look exactly like them.

Prophecies--girl, HOW am I supposed to hear a very important something or other ONE TIME and then remember if exactly in italics

Actually short term memory and slow sound processing in general definitely wouldn't help me out

Dreams--I fear I'm only capable of the 'mildly inconvenient nonsense' type of dream and not the 'evil one spelling out certain doom to me while I sleep' variety

I have the reflexes of an aged sea turtle

I have no friends

People would probably peg me as the smart one (I get good grades, have nerdy hobbies, and like spouting randon facts), but in fact I suck at riddles as well as at thinking under pressure, thinking outside the box, and recalling information that's actually important to a situation at any convenient time, so that wouldn't go well

I love "eating monsters as normal food" in dungeon meshi as a concept because at some point you get used to it and just go "hm oh yeah they're having kelpie today... giant parasite... that's nice". But as soon as a different party interacts with them and their eating habits it's like Oh Yeah. That is kind of strange isn't it? Huh.

i haint watched the dang chibisode and idk if ill actually watch it with sound on sdfjk but i have a hurt feeling about them casually imbuing perry with speech for a one off gag because the idea that he needs to talk to communicate is fake. we had 4 seasons of wacky magic hijinks cartoon where perry never needed verbal speech to communicate. they couldve done this gag at any point in the show but they didn't, and the fact that they didn't felt significant. perry's muteness is such a core part of his character, to me, to the way i conceive of him/write him. i don't wanna overreact to a goofy little side cartoon (even tho i'm doing it anyway) but it's still the characters, and it still upsets me! ok that's it i've said my piece

Charles and Edwin go to a magical forest for a case. They talk and have fun collecting weird paranormal plants, so Edwin is distracted enough to trip over a protruding root. He can't keep his balance and slides down into a small valley in the forest floor, falling right into an ominous looking bush of black flowers.

Charles dashes after him for a rescue but sees his best mate crawl out of the plant before he can reach him. The sight calms him down but only momentarily - Edwin is gasping and coughing, so much so he's unable to stand up steadily.

"Edwin? Oi, what's wrong?" Charles inquires in a fast-spreading panic.

Edwin tries his hardest to concentrate on his best friend's voice to answer him. Still gasping and clutching his chest, he turns around to look at his place of landing.

His eyes widen in fear and he looks wildly at Charles.

"Don't -" he's interrupted by a harsh-sounding cough. "Don't touch the plant..."

By the end of the sentence, his voice gets weaker than a whisper. Charles sees Edwin's eyes roll back into his skull right before he collapses onto his hands and knees.

"Edwin!" The younger ghost leaps forward, mindful of the advice not to come in contact with the black flowers.

Charles grabs Edwin's face to lift it, he has to make sure Edwin is still with him. Bleary and pained eyes meet his.

"What is it? What bloody plant is it?! How do I fix you?"

Edwin tries to say something but is too breathless to get any words out. Desperately, he grabs onto Charles’s forearms as if urging him to listen closely. As if Charles wasn't already hanging onto his every word.

"I- " Edwin gasps out, body trembling. "I love you."

Stunned with a terror colder than a winter lake's waters, Charles watches as Edwin's body goes limp, his green eyes fluttering shut.

i know for a fact i have made this post before but for me it's very important that bbc merlin is a pointless tragedy. it wouldn't be good (it's frequently not good anyway but it would be a lot further away from good) if it wasn't a pointless tragedy! it's simply not arthuriana if it doesn't go past the high point of the heroic/legendary/high medieval romance stuff and end with detailed rundowns of exactly how everybody got betrayed and died like that is what makes it real arthuriana to me and not just a silly show about a wizard
