The Kissing Booth | E.M x G!N!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cw: flufffffff, mild angst on Eddie’s part. Smooching. Reader wears lipgloss. No use of pronouns.
Wc 1.4K
Eddie could not believe this was happening to him.
“Nope, nope, no way, man. Over my dead body-“
“What my boy means is he is grateful he is not being suspended and will graciously accept his punishment of volunteering at the school fair.” Wayne looks at his nephew with a glare in his eyes that Eddie hasn’t seen in a very long time.
“Great, then it’s settled,” Ms. Laughlin, the guidance councillor, smiles.
It was happening. Eddie was being served the most gruesome punishment, and all because he skipped P.E. of all classes.
Eddie Munson was being forced not only to participate in the school fair but to work the kissing booth, of all things.
How on earth would he survive this? Not only would he be the laughingstock of the school, but he would also have to endure the absolute embarrassment of having no one come up to his booth, and he would also have to be forced to participate in extracurricular activities.
“Just wait until Hellfire hears about this boy,” Wayne laughs as he drives him and Eddie back to the trailer.
All Eddie could do was roll his eyes; he could never show his face again.
Tumblr media
“You’re not going to believe the rumour I heard today.” Nancy looks at you from over her shoulder. She is sat at your vanity.
“What?” You asked, intrigued, as you got dressed and got ready for tonight’s festivities.
“A little birdy told me that a certain someone is working the kissing booth tonight.” She smirks.
“Who?” You challenge her back.
“Who, what?” Robin walks into the bedroom from the bathroom.
“Nancy knows who is working one of the kissing booths tonight, but who’s telling me” you pout.
“Ohhhhhhhh,” Robin smirks knowingly.
“Oh, not you, too! Come on, who is it!”
Robin and Nancy give one another a nod of the head before Nancy speaks.
“Eddie Munson.”
“Ha ha, very funny; you think I’m going to believe that? How gullible do you think I am?” You snort.
“No, it’s true! Shelly from the student council told me when we were working on the student paper! Instead of detention, this is his punishment, to help out at the fair tonight.” She wiggled her brows at you suggestively.
“Who else’s working it?” You try and ask casually.
Your friends knew about your crush on Eddie. It had been about a month since you confessed to one of your late-night sleepovers.
“Um, I’m not too sure what other guy, but I think Chrissy is working the girl's booth. Nancy shrugged.
“Cool…cool…” you turned to the closet, now faced with a sense of anxiety to find the perfect top.
Tumblr media
Eddie was actually dying on the inside. Ten minutes until his “shift” at the booth, and he wanted to book it.
Running away would solve his problems, right? He would much rather be suspended than have to endure this humiliation. This was a cruel and unusual punishment.
He watched from the sidelines as Josh was at the booth currently. He was the senior star quarterback on the football team. Everyone wanted him. He could just see now the long line disbursing once he stood there.
"Hey man, you're up next in 5." Eddie was snapped out of his internal monologue when he felt a hand resting on his shoulder. He wasn't sure how long he had been there stewing with his own thoughts. "Don't worry, it's not all bad. Some customers are cute," Josh smirks.
Oh god. What if he actually had to kiss someone tonight? He hadn’t thought of that option. Like, what if some actually came up? What would he do? Are they expecting tongue?
“You have some gum or something?” He asked quickly before Josh left.
He smirked and tossed him a pack of icy mint.
“Thanks.”
Eddie peaked around the corner to where the booth was set up. The fair was set up on the school football field. There was a small sign that said be back in 5 and no lineup to be seen.
That made Eddie feel a bit better; no one was there. That took some humility out of it.
Before Eddie could back out and run, he felt another hard hand on his shoulder.
“Come on, Munson, your time to shine.” Jeff and Gareth practically dragged Eddie to the booth, kicking and screaming.
“You’re the worst friends ever,” Eddie huffed as they backed away from the booth. Watching him so he won’t run away.
“You can't serve the time and shouldn’t do the crime.” Jeff laughed.
“That’s not-“ Eddie was cut off mid-sentence as he saw Robin and Nancy pushing you towards the booth just like he had been moments ago.
“Don’t make me do this,” you plead with your best friends.
“You have to do it,” “It’s now or never,” “He’s right there. Just have him your ticket and pucker your lisp. It’s not that hard,” Robin and Nancy whispered in your ear as they dragged you towards Eddie.
“You guys, please, I can’t!” You say a bit too loudly as you fight back your friends from pushing you up to the booth.
You can see the look on Eddie’s face as you are pushed up the step of the booth. He looks disappointed? Disgusted? You’re not too sure.
You let out an embarrassing squeal as you stumbled in front of Eddie. “Um hi”
Despite not being well-acquainted with Eddie, you couldn't help but notice him whenever he walked by. You only exchanged a few words in passing and learned about him through your friends. Although you never had the opportunity to spend time together, you found him to be irresistibly charming and incredibly good-looking. Whenever you caught a glimpse of him in the cafeteria, he never failed to bring a smile to your face with his silly antics and infectious laughter.
“Uh hey,” he spoke back, clearly uncomfortable.
“Busy night for you?” You ask, trying to delay the inevitable.
“Uh nope.”
“Good,” you smile; the thought of Eddie kissing anyone else made you want to vomit.
“Good?” He cocks a brow at you. “The thought of nobody wanting to come up to the freak of Hawkins High is good to you?”
“Oh I didn’t mean it like-“
“Why are you even here?”
“Oh- well- I um-"
“No, I get it. You’re just here on a dare, or you lost the bet, right? I really thought better of Nancy and Robin; I thought they were my friends… You know I heard you say you can’t do this. I understand the thought of kissing me is so terrible that-“
You couldn't help but cut off Eddei from his intrusive thoughts. You held his face with both hands and smushed your lips together. The thought of Eddie thinking that about you was far worse than the fear of kissing him.
It wasn't everything you had dreamed of. However, the kiss was still nice. You felt the eruption of butterflies fill your stomach as Eddie deepened this kiss himself. You kissed him until you could no longer breathe. Only then is when you pull away.
“Woah”
“I hope that was okay.” You shy away.
“Yeah.” Eddie sighed as he took you in.
As he gazed upon you, he was struck by how pretty you were, which he had overlooked until now. The sweet aroma of strawberries wafted from you as the strawberry lipgloss lingered on his lips, just below his nose.
“Um, here,” you jut out your hand with the crinkled ticket you hadn't yet paid with.
“Oh no, no, the house,” Eddie said without thinking and that made you giggle.
“Well, I really only bought a ticket for this, so I might as well cash it in.” you flirt.
“Ok, yeah, sure. Two for one.” Eddie took the ticket from your hand and brought it back to cup your cheek before kissing you again.
You could hear the giggles and cheers of your friends from behind you in the distance, but your main focus was on Eddie. His soft, plush lips. His minty taste, the way his soft hair tickled your cheeks.
“Ok, lovebirds, that’s enough.” the supervising teacher returned with an unimpressed huff.
You begrudgingly pulled away, but with a smile nonetheless.
“Can I get your number?” Eddie’s mouth was moving before his brain could catch up.
“Come find us later, lover boy.” Robin giggled while snatching your arm and pulled you away before you could answer.
“Dude!” Gareth clapped his hands, having witnessed the whole thing.
“Maybe we should sign up for this,” Jeff laughed. A little jealous of what he just witnessed.
After you, Eddie didn’t care if he got another customer for the rest of the night. Maybe this whole kissing booth thing wasn’t too bad after all.

Three Strikes and You're Out! - st fic
This is a follow up to: this - wc: 2.8k - cw: nothing to worry about I think!
enjoy! 💛
Eddie decides to talk to Robin first. He’s not sure what to expect when she swings her front door open and yells over her shoulder to Mrs. Buckley.
“I’ll be back in a bit, go ahead and eat!”
And then she’s stomping over to his van and looking at him expectantly from the passenger seat. He almost trips rushing to follow her, but is able to start his car in one piece.
“I was wondering when you were going to come by. Steve mentioned things didn’t go over well the other night.” She says it bluntly and Eddie flinches. He knows the other night could’ve gone better. Like a dog with a bone, he’s been dissecting the other night in great detail. Can’t stop thinking of how frustrated Steve seemed with himself, how the words ‘stupid’ and ‘bullshit’ dripped vitriol from his mouth, and how he let the other boy leave in such a hurry. He taps his hands against the steering wheel softly before answering.
“Yeah. It wasn’t good, Birdie. I really messed up.” Personally, he doesn’t think ‘messed up’ really covers it. He feels like he walked himself right off the edge of a pier into icy waters. Steve hasn’t answered the couple of times he’s called and the only reason why Eddie’s not searching town for him is knowing that Steve has at least been giving the brats rides to the arcade. Hearing his voice on the radio has been enough, but Eddie can’t take the closed off silence he’s getting now.
“So I’ve heard. Wanna tell me how things went from your perspective?”
He tells her the story once they get to the diner. There’s a plate of fries between them but Eddie just picks at them instead of actually eating. Robin’s blue eyes feel like daggers so he’s been more focused on watching the parking lot than looking at her.
“Like I said, I know I messed up.”
It’s quiet for a moment before Robin speaks up again, words calm.
“Do you even know how you did?”
And Eddie realizes, he doesn’t really. He knows Steve is upset but to be this upset over a D&D game? There’s something more under the surface – that’s why he was drawn to Robin. If anyone is going to know what the root of the problem is, it’s Steve’s own nerdy band soulmate. She has to know why Steve pulled away halfway through the session. Eddie had thought things were going well; Dustin had helped Steve with his character, Jeff let him borrow some of his dice, and Steve had been asking questions. But they all asked questions when they started! Sometimes Gareth even had to double check an action versus the rules during his turns.
The more Eddie thinks about it though, Steve had only asked a couple questions before Mike had made some comment under his breath. It wasn’t long after that that the ex-jock had said he’d be gone for a quick break but to continue without him. A quick break turned into him not coming back to the table at all and Eddie wrapping up the session early to everyone’s disappointment. After everyone went home is when things went downhill, but he still doesn’t know why it bothered Steve so much.
“Eddie.” Robin’s voice sounds pitying, like she’s sad he wasn’t able to make this connection on his own. “You said it yourself, you can’t be good at everything you try the first time. But this is Steve we’re talking about. He feels like he can’t mess up. If he ever slips up, you know what those kids of his do?”
Eddie does. He knows the kids, especially Mike and Dustin, tend to fixate on Steve’s slip ups. They’re just like siblings in that way, but Steve’s always been an only child. Eddie can imagine that the constant harping probably sits a little heavier on Steve’s shoulder than the kids realize. He pulls his gaze from the window and looks at Robin again.
Something like regret is crawling up his spine – he helped make a space where Steve felt bad for messing up, and then yelled at him for not trying.
“Oh Birdie, I really messed up. How do I fix this? I just wanted to share this with him. And I know all the kids did too. He’s their glorified big brother, whether he realizes it or not – they just want to have more in common with him.”
She’s nodding along to his words, plate now empty except for the last dredges of the ketchup she’d put there earlier. “Maybe it’s not so much that they need to share what they like with him, but that you guys need to share what he likes. I may not care about sports as much as he does, but I’ve played on bleachers long enough to follow a game. Sometimes that’s what our hang outs are: he puts on the latest game and I paint my nails or work on patches for my jacket. He’s got his own interests, you know? That’s what makes him who he is – he just goes along with what everyone else likes because no one really likes his stuff except for-”
“Lucas. Robin Buckley, you are a genius.”
~
That’s how Eddie finds himself at the Sinclair’s house a couple hours later. He’d radioed Lucas as soon as he dropped off Robin and was pleasantly surprised to find out he was free that afternoon. Things were rocky between them for a while, with Eddie replacing him with Erica while he played the championship game. Steve had been the one to get Eddie to apologize about it. Made Eddie see how important both games had been to Lucas, how unfair it was to force him to pick one over he other. Especially since one has a coach breathing down the players necks to make sure they’re at every game, unlike the Hellfire Club getting to pick their meeting days and times. Lucas forgave him as soon as he said sorry but Eddie vowed he’d do better in the future about re-scheduling to make sure there weren’t issues. He couldn’t imagine having a show and none of his friends showing up.
“Hey Eddie! Lucas mentioned you were coming by.” Mrs. Sinclair welcomed him in, gesturing for him to follow her into the kitchen. It was nice to be accepted so easily into their home, he’d worried when meeting all of the party's parents that they would decide he was the hell raiser people claimed him to be without giving him a real chance. Looking back, he should’ve known better – there’s no way his sheep would have parents that weren’t at least a little open minded.
He follows her to the kitchen and gets hit with a wave of warmth and the smell of brown sugar. Mrs. Sinclair slips on a faded blue oven mitt before pulling a tray of cookies from the oven.
“Are the cookies done yet?” Little Erica comes around the corner and raises an eyebrow at Eddie. “And when did you get here?”
“Just got here. Your mom just pulled the cookies out, so you’ve got impeccable timing as always Lady Applejack.” He grins down at her when she brightens at the promise of warm cookies. It’s nice to see the kids getting to be kids after everything.
“Lucas is in the backyard, will you bring him some of these before someone tries to eat them all.” Mrs. Sinclair smiles and nods her head towards Erica, who’s trying to save a cookie from the floor since it’s so warm it’s falling apart.
Lucas tosses the ball as soon as Eddie steps outside and lets out an excited ‘whoop!’ when it goes into the basket. “Nice one?” Eddiesounds less confident when he says it but he’s also very aware he wouldn’t be able to do the same thing no matter how hard he tried. The smile he gets from Lucas rids him of his nervousness though and he holds out the plate of cookies.
“I’ve been sent with snacks.” The plate’s taken from his hands quickly, cookie in Lucas’ mouth in seconds.
“Thanks. So what’d you wanna talk about? Not that I don’t like seeing you, we just don’t usually hang out one on one.”
Guilt fills Eddie’s stomach, especially since he’s here to ask a favor. But honestly, maybe this is good for him. To learn more about Lucas too.
“Well. I’m gonna level with you. I need you to teach me about sports.”
~
Sports are much more complicated than Eddie ever gave them credit for. Lucas spent the afternoon going over the different rules for basketball. He’d tried to follow as best he could, and while some stuff stuck, like what exactly a three-pointer was and why dribbling was so important – Eddie knows he’s far from being a sports fan. When Lucas had mentioned that Steve’s favorite had been baseball, he’d hoped to learn some there too. But baseball wasn’t Lucas’ passion so he’d put off that research for later.
Even if he didn’t get all of it, it was nice to see Lucas so excited. He’s seen the kid during campaigns, planning out different attacks with the group, but now he’s kind of excited to see him in action on the court. Kid’s got a good heart and with how strongly he adores the group, Eddie knows the passion has to show when he plays.
So he leaves with a smile on his face and his heart full. He really is lucky to have these people in his life.
~
“Uncle Wayne! Just the man I wanted to see!”
Just like he expected, Eddie walks in to the trailer to see Wayne watching a game on the couch. It’s his day off and usually that means Eddie lets him have the trailer to relax until dinner time and then they eat together. Eddie’s cut into a couple hours of what he likes to call ‘Wayne’s TV Time’ but he knows his uncle won’t mind.
After toeing off his shoes and hanging his vest, Eddie plops down next to Wayne. The older man jostles with the movement but doesn’t say anything as he turns the TV down. All of a sudden, Eddie is nervous. He knows Wayne won’t judge him for asking, especially once he knows why he needs to know all about baseball. But he also hates admitting he hurt someone, unintentional or not.
“Out with it, Ed.”
Eddie stops messing with his rings at his uncle’s voice. “I need your help with something.”
“You know I always have your back, what’s going on?”
And it all spills out. Trying to play D&D with Steve, the conversation after, his goal to understand Steve more before apologizing properly.
“Sounds like you’re already on track. Whatcha need me for?”
“Well, I’m so glad you asked. IneedyoutoteachmeallaboutbaseballsothatIcantalktoSteveaboutit.”
“How about you try that while breathing?”
“I need you to teach me about baseball so that I can talk to Steve about it.”
~
Thankfully Wayne has the patience of a saint because Eddie asks him a question nearly every time he goes to explain something.
“How do you know it’s in the strike zone?”
“There’s different ways to throw the ball? And it’s all based off of one guy’s hand code on which one to do?”
“So what you’re saying is that every player has different ability scores that make them better players in different positions?”
“You can steal bases?”
“How come a run isn’t a point?”
“A top and bottom inning? Kinky. Whose idea was that?”
~
Wayne’s been asleep for a couple of hours when Eddie hears a soft knock at the trailer door. He’d heard a car pull up a few minutes before but just figured it was one of the neighbors finally getting home. He definitely wasn’t expecting to see Steve on his doorstep.
“Steve?” “Eddie-”
“Come in -” “I just want to say-”
Steve huffs a laugh, eyes crinkling at the corners for a second before a small frown overtakes his face. The shadows of the porch make the expression deeper, somber almost.
“Come in for a minute?” He sounds pleading to his own ears, but it doesn’t stop Eddie from backing into the trailer – trusting Steve to follow him to his room. His room is a bit of a mess, clothes on the floor and a couple boxes still left unpacked from when they moved. There’s a a few notebooks laying open on his bed, notes he’d taken today and connections he’s tried to make. He wasn’t quite ready for this talk with Steve but he’s more prepared than he was the other day.
“So, Eddie...I just wanted to say I was sorry.”
Eddie whips around to face Steve, notebooks now in a stack in his hands.
“You’re unbelievable.”
Steve’s brows furrow at Eddie’s words, confusion and indignation filling his eyes.
“What?”
“Only you would apologize for something that’s not your fault. Unbelievable. Steve, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hut your feelings the other day. I was just so excited for you to be playing with us that I didn’t think about you being nervous about it.”
The indignation in Steve’s eyes fades and all he’s left with is the eyes of a sad puppy dog. He almost looks lost, shoulders hunched in slightly to make him appear smaller.
“What does that matter? I still ruined the fun.” Somehow, he makes himself even smaller. Eddie’s stomach turns at the sight. Steve shouldn’t be so practiced in making himself small and Eddie’s going to do everything he can to get him out of that habit.
“No you didn’t. Us being pig-headed ruined the fun. Stop looking at me like that, come here.” His mattress sinks when he sits and he pats the bedding next to him.
“I mean it, come here. I wanna show you something. It’s what I’ve been working on these couple of days.”
Finally, Steve comes to sit next to him. Unlike so many times before he’s stiff next to Eddie, not letting himself relax.
“So I’m gonna be honest here. I was really confused when you left the other night. Some of the stuff you said didn’t seem like it was really about me. But that doesn’t matter. You know, why?”
A shake of his head is the only response Eddie gets.
“Because at the end of the day, we made you feel like you couldn’t ask questions. I made you feel bad too. So I might’ve reached out to a couple of people for help. If it’s one thing that Wayne’s taught me, it’s to apologize. I talked to Buckley first.”
Finally, a small smile from Steve that stays there.
“She pointed out something I should’ve been able to figure out on my own. We all have our own interests and you always make space for it. But we don’t ever do the same for you.”
“Ed-”
“Don’t fight me on this. You always let us talk about what we want, you always host for us; you always look out for us. It’s about time more than one of us takes the time to do it for you too. Anyway, so then I talked with the other sports nerds in my life: Lucas and Wayne. And I came up with this!”
Steve hasn’t stopped smiling which is giving Eddie more confidence by the minute. He grabs at the notebooks he moved earlier, flipping back a couple of pages before leaning into Steve’s space. At the top of the page he’s written ‘D&D vs Baseball’. To Steve, the notes probably look crazy. There’s a couple doodles of dice and baseballs around the page and his writing is messy from where he tried connecting the two while laying in his bed.
“What is this?” Gently, Steve takes the notebook from Eddie’s hands, fingers tracing the rough sketch of a baseball field.
“If you want to give D&D another try, I think I found a better way of describing it.” Eddie’s full on grinning now, knows his dimples are exposed with his happiness. “But, if you never wanna play again I get that too.”
“Eddie.” Only five letters, but Steve still chokes on them slightly. His hazel eyes are filled with tears and the smile drops from Eddie’s face.
“Wait – no, I didn’t mean to make you cry! Was this a bad idea?” He goes to take the notebook back but Steve tightens his grip. Honey eyes lock with Eddie’s even as a tear falls.
“No, this is so nice.” Steve looks at the notes again and brushes at the tears on his cheeks. “I don’t know what all these notes mean, but it looks like you might be on to something.”
Steve smiles at Eddie and sets the notebook to the side. And then Eddie’s being hugged. Steve can’t be comfortable, twisted and leaning like he is – but Eddie hugs back anyway. Wraps his arms around Steve and rests a gentle hand on the back of Steve’s head where he’s tucked into Eddie’s neck. Steve squeezes around his middle once and then backs up, tears no longer falling but his smile remaining.
“Think you can try and explain these notes to me?”

(Imagine how that would be like.. 😭) Keep up the great work! You're doing the best! (I'll go back to my cave neow :3 I'll be 🦅-anon btw!!)
Hiii 🦅 anon! And tysm (#^.^#)
Tumblr media
Although Lynx would be more than happy to flaunt off his harpy darling to the world. If he senses that you’re uncomfortable in any shape or form. When going out to public events alongside him.
He’ll be on the offensive since he’s a territorial birdy after all. The usual friendly charming face will turn downright cold and icy towards anyone who tries to get too close.
At fancy gatherings The birdman will be threatening the paparazzi with their jobs. And then some if they can’t keep their cameras off of his muse’s face. Since he’d hate for them to get stunned with the amount of flashing lights they’d be exposed to. Since he’s a famous singer and all.
If shove comes to shove Lynx will call in his bodyguards to form a meat shield around you both. As he cuddles you to his chest with his wings spayed out so that it can act as a veil over your entire being.

Supe Busters - Soldier Boy x female reader
Chapter one
Summary : Vought has many secrets, project W is one of them. What happens when said project turns against them?
Tumblr media
You dealt with supes on the daily. I mean, it was truly your only job. Vought called you a villain, a criminal, Atomeris they called you. A supe who has been brainwashed all of her childhood by both her parents and an anti-supe cult.
They made up fake stories about you. Built a whole new you. You weren’t the kind nurse anymore, no, you were this evil witch who should be burned at the stake according to them.
Each time they called you evil, criminal, an animal, you wanted to cry. You just wanted to help people by bringing justice to those who felt superior to the law. Those who could hurt people without consequences.
Your very first supe was Icy BABY. An ice controlling woman who caused multiple deaths by making huge and shampooing spickes of ice everywhere. Vought said it was to stop a robber, or a murderer, you couldn’t remember what they came up with.
But you knew why she truly did that. She just thought it was fun. Simple as that. The cunt thought it was funny to see inferior beings die so easily. So you did what you had to.
During one night, you and your team of other fucked up supes tracked her down and beat her up down before you did what you do best.
Months ago, you got your hands on compound V. You studied it days and nights to be able to control it. The blue liquid was a weirdo really. It had so many different molecules it took you almost two months to finally crack it's nature. And with it's formula now printed in your brain, you could now separate it from blood. So to put it simply; you could unsupe supes.
And that's exactly what you did to the Elsa wannabe. It was truly a sight for sore eyes to see her try to attack us with her now weak force and speed.
That night wasn’t just to serve justice. No. It was to prove a point, to warn Vought that from now on, their toys weren’t as invicible as they once were.

“Fucking cunt I can tell ya” said the black haired man to Hughie. “Yeah well Soldier Boy did scared the living shit out of him. Can't blame him for running away right?” Butcher looked at him like he grew a second head. The other man started to feel anxious under his hard stare and could feel himself starting to sweat.”The only thing I did was telling him what I would do to him if he wouldn't give us their damn locations” “Oi for fuck's sake. You threatened him to punch a hole where his dick was and to use it like a fleshlight”
“And I meant it” said the tall, green-eyed man before leaving the room to smoke a good ol’ joint.
“We lost our only suspect linked to this shit hole and we have yet to find any like places where those people could be hiding and the both of you are fighting for shit” Hughie was now not only anxieuse but angry at the situation. I mean, they’ve been looking for weeks for those people and the one guy who could have helped them get a connection left in the middle of the night. “He’s gonna act right from now on I can tell you that much.”
“Oh yeah? How do you fucking know Butcher?” said Hughie “It’s either that or he's going back to being the sleeping beauty
waiting for his bloody prince. I'll contain him from now on, like a god damn mommy birdy” Butcher said with his signature smirk
“Your words not mine” said Hughie, pointing at him while leaving the room.

“There was an explosion today at Times Square Ashley. It allegedly happened when two unidentified people attacked our New-York mayor out of nowhere. Many are injured and even worse, there have been fourteen deaths. Now, some say it was a terrorist attack, others some sort of uprising super abled villains. What do you have to say to those people?”
“Well Cameron, we are scared to announce it was in fact some sort of twisted version of supes who caused  those deaths and injuries. Now, if supes were included as part of the US military, those tragic events wouldn’t have been. You see, the American government made an atrocious decision three years ago. He decided that supes were just entertainment, and not valuable defense assets. So now we are facing situations like this. Where criminals think they can do whatever they want and not risking anything because well, no ones gonna stop them they’re super abled!”
“That’s tragic Ashley. Now, what can us patriots do to change this situation?”
“Thank you for asking Cameron. Well, you can join the “Supes are our best defence” protest this friday at 2 pm in front of the White House. For our watchers outside of Washington, Vought is ready to give away plane tickets at a low rate price for those who wanna join. We thank you for your support.”
“Thank you Ashley for this strong speech.”
Tumblr media
“Alright who did this.” Said Florence, a woman part of your team who could control airwaves like light and sound and all of that.
“I don't think it was any of us Flo, why would we attack the mayor? It's against our own values” Orleta, fastes woman in the world, said with an anxious laugh.
“Oh you think it's all a fucking joke now uh don't ya Orleta? You know, you might be physically fast but mentally you're fucking sl-”
“Alright, alright let's all calm down,  I'm sure if someone here did this they had a reason. Now, whoever did this please come forward and explain to us the reasons behind such violent actions” said the group leader, Evangeline. Evangeline was kinda like homelander, minus the maniac part. She wasn't as strong nor as fast as him but she could still fly, laser people and all that. A magnificent woman. She was like a patient leader to all of you. Evangeline used to be a preschool teacher before this whole mess. None of you really know much about her except that. Magnificient, but mysterious.
“As anyone thought that maybe it’s Vought who’s trying to make us look bad once again? I mean they do it all the time and we did in fact get a rise in popularity with the whole Silver man mess…” you said, unsure of your theory. You weren’t sure of it but it would make more sense then one of you to kill innocents. Something you straight up fight agaisnt.
“Yeah I agree now that would be way more plausible then one of us doing it. I mean we kill supes, not civilians” that was Florence. She was your best friend. Together, the both of you could take down 5 supes at the same time. You were one of the deadly duos in the team.
“Yeah exactly, that’s their job not ours,” said Oletra now relieved that everyone calmed down.
“Alright then. It’s settled. It was once again Vought. Like usually.” Evangeline then left the room her heels clicking on her way out.
Tumblr media
“We found something,” said Annie entering the living room of her appartment with Hughie.
“Oh thank God cause we lost the guy”
“What guy?”
“You know the with like metal powers and all?” Said Hughie with a nervous smile
“You lost the fucking silver man?” she said, in disbelief that under three hours The Boys could lose such a valuable asset.
“Yeah but you know now we have a new track, yayyyy” the man tried to loosen the tension
“Yeah ok anyway. We think the team, oh what's their name again”
“Illusion?”
“Yeah them, me and Kimiko found one of their guys entering some weird facility. When we entered there was only a locked door. We didn't try to force it open or anything we were only two. They're probably like thousands there.”
“Oh that’s good, that's really good Annie. Butcher's gonna want to Kiss you” said Hughie while laughing and kissing his girlfriend. They finally found something and this time it couldn’t escape.

Binah catching you asleep at your desk again and starting to carry you away to somewhere more comfortable only to hear you mumble your confession of love in your sleep
at first she doesn't believe it. certainly, she must have misheard. that is the only possible assumption. so that is what she believes as she continues carrying you, cradling your body in her arms, as gently as an ex-Arbiter could manage. something incoherent you said in a dream, or perhaps nothing at all
then you say it again, a mere whisper yet clear as day, and Binah's stone heart beats, once
her pace slows to a stop as she looks down at you. there's someone beautiful, someone precious. someone asleep and at peace, murmuring about how much you love her. her, Binah. her, an Arbiter who once was. her, called heartless, cold, and sadistic. and yet, you love her. a shining star loves a raven made of icy feathers and eyes
she stares as you yawn in your slumber and mumble it again, a hand coming up almost instinctively to graze over your cheeks. carefully Binah sets you down on her bed- it's much quieter here than where you normally sleep- and draws the covers over you. for a good while she simply sits and watches the steady rise and fall of your chest. it reminds her that you're alive. you haven't always been alive, before. her knuckles gently press against your temple, stroking your skin with a delicate touch.
"Sweet birdie... you soften my heart."

Suggestion for Yn in the story Apex polarity.
Hehe, what if YN was actually a penguin hybrid? (let's imagine that they are in the same zone)
What would be Eclipse's reaction to that since he hasn't seen a penguin better yet a human mix.
Are we talking about a harpy because I'm thinking of a harpy but a flightless harpy because it is penguin style. You tobogganing around on your belly and using your flipper arms to cut across the icy flat lands of the polar ice cap and dipping into the sea to snag some tasty fish then whoop—that's a big siren with too many teeth!!!
He thinks you are so beautiful and strange—he's never seen a bird like you, not with those color markers, and not with the almost humanness to your body nor the way you move across the ice by sliding on it. He would be very eager to get you into the water with him and stroke your beautiful fluff. Of course, he's already calling you 'birdie.'
You're going to be in for a surprise when you try to hop out of the water only to have your hindlimb snatched above your talons by a large hand and pulled back in.

it’s winter and the air is cold in Gotham, but that doesn’t stop Tim.
... I'm gonna take this opportunity to play around in my Sentient Gotham AU because I can and I need to delve into the weird cryptid energy.
Cold and Gotham were synonyms in Tim's mind. She was a frigid bitch on a good day and she hated him so that's why he specifically got directed to Freezes new hideout on the coldest day on record so far. He talked him down! With no backup! Yay!He's on his way back, with no casualties or damage except Tim's core temperature. The problem is he's cold his skin is pulling where his scars are, and he wanted to be warm so bad.
Oh, and he's mad at Gotham. But he's usually irritated with her for some reason or another. But nowadays, he doesn't have to feel her as deeply as he used to. No more icy claws digging in his skin, reminding him that she kept him close, not out of love. But out of fear. He doesn't feel it anymore, though. All he feels is Jason's heartbeat and sometimes very strong emotions. He sat beside a frost covered gargoyle, feeling similarly to it in many ways, closed his eyes, and let himself.. expand. It was hard to explain to the others, except Jason and Cass, how it worked or felt. It felt like he was losing part of himself, but gaining so much more. His eyes burned, and he knew distantly they were burning white, Jason told him once, but he wasn't Tim, not Red Robin. Right now, he was the ghost.
The only part of him reminding him he was Tim, was the burning, constant thrum that was Jason. Tim followed the bond, wanting to make sure Jason wasn't too busy before he hunted him down.
Jason was cataloging his weapons, seeing what he needed restock of, writing it down to give to Tim later. He was deep in the Nest where Tim made him his weapons room, where him and Roy sometimes tinkered.
It's when he felt it. The feeling was similar to when Gotham and him talked, the cool phantom touch, but it wasn't parental or.. distant in the way she was. This touch was visceral, feeling like ice curled around his heart, cupping it gently. Tim was playing ghost.
"Cmon Birdie, come back to the Nest," Jason said to the 'empty' room. He felt fingers in his hair and ice on his cheek before the feeling vanished. Leaving naught but goosebumps in its wake.
Jason left the room to go up to the shared apartment. Not sure what to be expecting from his bird but knowing Tim needed him right now.
Tim climbed into the Nest blindly. He could probably navigate the entire city blind if he wanted to. He shut the window and redit the traps. Following the only thing keeping him going, the warm heartbeat that wasn't his. He peeled off his suit, leaving it scattered behind him until frigid fingers curled into a soft worn shirt. Jason nearly jumped when Timmy plastered himself bodily against Jason. Tim was freezing. Jason turned and wrapped his arms around him cooing softly.
"Oh Birdie," he breathed into his hair. "Let's get you warmed up and you can yell at me about what happened later."
Tim just gripped him tighter. Jason his last lifeline to humanity love of his life, the only thing keeping him from losing himself to the cold and the city.
Jason his heart.
He was warming back up.

all my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity
a Tim Drake-centric age regression fic, main characters bruce wayne and cassandra cain, minor dick grayson and barbara gordon, mentioned alfred pennyworth. Hurt/comfort. TW: wetting/accidents, diapers! Don’t like? Don’t read! (This is completely sfw, do not sexualize.) not proofread!
word count: 2,247 (one curse word!)
Tumblr media
Even with communication devices and his cowl covering his ears, all he hears is ringing after the soul resonating booms of gunshots fired sliding by his head. He faintly recognizes the bullets hitting a wall behind him with a metallic clang, but it’s hard to concentrate. Did he get shot? What’s happening?
“—bin. Red Robin, report.” Batman’s deep voice cuts through the crowded silence in his head, he blinks the blurriness from his eyes only to see the people he was chasing are long gone. Tim opens his mouth to respond to Bruce, but only a crackle comes out.
“Baby Bird, I’m gonna need more than a noise to know that you’re okay.” Nightwing fills in as Tim’s eyes drift down to his body in a lousy scan to make sure he wasn’t shot, which thankfully he came out of that clean. “Mm..” He tries, his mouth not wanting to cooperate with his thoughts. He’s fine— Well, not fine, but he’s unscathed, which is lucky considering.
He feels stuck in place, nothing in his body responding the way he wants, and thoughts are getting harder to form, like a brain fog. Did he get drugged? Is he dying?
“I’m coming.” Batgirl states, stomping down some of Tim’s anxiety that swells in his chest. He feels too vulnerable to be out here right now, especially in this suit that admittedly just feels way too heavy for his body right now.
“ETA is 15 minutes, Red.” Oracle speaks with a static-y click in his ears following. “We’re on a private line now, Red. I have eyes on you, and you don’t look great. Are you sure you’re okay?” The concern in her voice makes Tim a bit antsy, but he shrugs because there’s no use in lying when there’s help being sent your way already.
Oracle hums. “I’ll stay on with you until Batgirl gets.. there…” She trails off, speedy typing on her keyboard sounds out quietly. “Ori?” Tim says anxiously as he leans back against the metal wall, legs weakening with a wobble as he slides down till he’s sat on the damp concrete.
“I’m here, Baby bird.” Baby bird? He… He isn’t…
Oh…
“7 minutes, bird. You’re okay, I’m still here.” Her voice reassures him and quells the anxiety he didn’t realize was building up. That explains a lot. But… why? Why is he regressed? The.. the gunshots, he remembers the gunshots, and chasing after some guys for… something.
“3 minutes, Red. You’re doing fantastic.” He’s not sure what he’s doing fantastic at, but he appreciates it. A cold wind sweeps across the alley he sits in, running over his cheeks and nipping at them until the skin is red. A chill runs down his spine as he recognizes a different icy feeling across his lap.
Oracle sucks in a breath as Tim looks down and sees that his suit pants are wet. Not damp, wet. Did he.. Did he actually have a fucking accident? A breath gets caught in his throat at the realization as a motorcycle's headlamp lights up the alleyway with a roaring engine that quiets as it rolls in, he can’t seem to drag his eyes away from the shiny fabric to look at the potential danger.
“It’s just Batgirl, you did such a good job, birdie. Such a great job. Let her help you back to the cave.” Oracle says to him in a gentle commanding tone. A black gloved hand tears his eyes away to see Cass in her suit, but rid of the full face mask. “We can go home now.” She says softly with a smile, to which Tim takes her hand with his own shaky one. The vulnerable situation he put himself in leaves him in a sort of shock of what could’ve happened, but Cass is here now. He’s safe.
“You are safe.” She hums as she helps him onto the bike, he cringes as his pants stick to his skin in a sickening way as he sits down, but he’s quickly distracted by Cass pulling back his cowl and replacing it with a helmet. “You did a good job, I promise. Nobody is upset at you.” She says as she secures the helmet on his head.
He ingests the words as she pulls on her mask and hops on the bike in front of him, wrapping his arms around her midsection before pulling out of the alleyway carefully. Tim watches as she grips at the handlebars anxiously, wanting to zoom off and get him home faster, he assumes.
Nobody is upset with him though? He almost got shot because his brain short circuited. He could’ve gotten seriously injured or- or a lot worse, those people could have ripped off his mask and reveal practically everything because of this, this— mistake.
He laid his helmeted cheek on Cass’s back, looking at the bright lights of cars and the city passing by in blurs, though it doesn’t distract him from the uncomfortable reality of his wet pants as much as he’d hoped. He’s ecstatic to be going home and getting changed out of these, but he’s not so ecstatic to be seeing people in the cave when he’s like this. He really doesn’t care to be seen by anybody right now, to be frank.
Tim sniffles at the thought of Bruce or Dick finding out, their disappointed looks are already etched into his brain, he can practically hear them talking about how to make Tim stop regressing to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Maybe they won’t have to find out though.
They pull into the cave slowly, coming to a stop with a click of the engine. Cass has already pulled her mask back by the time Tim summons the courage to sit up, wiping the tears that corralled at his waterline once Cass removes his helmet. The familiar coldness of the cave brings displeasure instead of its usual adrenaline rush, looking around with unease to gauge who all was present.
Alfred was putting some clothes in a warming bin, (a request by Stephanie when she came back to the cave for a debriefing after fighting with freeze during a cold rainy night. It proved to be a very loved addition with everyone.) and Bruce was at the computer, tabs open on the others out right now.
Cass taps his cheekbone, tugging his drifting attention to her. “I need to shower, do you want help cleaning?” She asks as if this isn’t a one in a million scenario for Tim, the casualness throws him off guard a bit. “Uh,” He stumbles over his words, “maybe..?”
She hums, nodding as he unlatches his cape from his shoulders, putting it with the helmet she placed on the vehicle workbench. “Alfred or Bruce?” And wasn’t that just a question that stumps Tim. He wishes nobody was an option, but still got help in some way. He really cannot do this himself, but he really does not want Bruce or Alfred to help him.
“Bruce is nice with this.” Cassandra says as she twirls a long strand of his hair between her fingers, sensing his inner turmoil and frustration. “He’s slow and careful. Alfred is quick, well experienced.” She adds.
“B..ruce.” He sounds out carefully. Being cared for with gentleness sounds a little bit better right now, though being done with this quicker sounds appealing too considering his itchy he feels.
The man perks up and turns in his seat, Cass nodding with a gentle smile down at Tim, pressing a kiss to his hairline before turning to Bruce with a look he can’t quite make out, but Bruce seems to know as he gives a reassuring nod to her as she heads off to the showers.
“Oh, bud.” Bruce starts quietly, standing in front of Tim to where he has to crane his head back to see his face. “I’m sorry for the night you’ve had.” He hums in a gentle tone, running a hand through Tim’s hair. He leans into the touch and words.
His emotions hit the lid and overspill. Anxiety and paranoia of people’s reaction clouded his judgment so much that he couldn’t believe that Bruce was real right now. So much has happened tonight, it’s been so scary and new— it’s too much for his body to contain.
Tears cascade down his cheeks with a soft sob, the fuzziness of regression consuming entirely with the knowledge that he’s safe. Bruce clicks his tongue and picks up Tim with ease, even as he whines at the discomfort of his pants still sticking. “I’m sorry, you’re okay now. We’ll get you cleaned up and then you can be sleeping with Aurora, yeah?”
Tim nods with a hiccup, squirming in Bruce’s hold at just how uncomfortable the suit is now. How did he wear this for so long? Thankfully, Bruce is quick and was able to reach the upstairs bathroom since the cave had no comfortable tubs. Tim gets set down on his feet with a whine that Bruce quickly quells by continuing to hold his hand as he begins to fill the bath.
Bruce helps and instructs Tim on every step of undressing, making sure he was okay through every part, then helping him ease into the warm water after tossing the dirty suit to the corner of the room— a problem for future Bruce.
Tim washes himself off while Bruce gets his hair, rinsing it carefully so as to not get soap or water in his eyes. They would’ve gone more eccentric with the bath, but it was more urgent and necessary than just a regular cleaning.
“Boo?” Tim murmurs as Bruce lifts him out of the growing cold water, wrapping a fluffy and warmed towel around him then setting him on the edge of the bathtub while it drains. “Yeah sweetheart?” Bruce hums as he grabs another towel, squeezing Tim’s dripping locks of hair to track less of a mess around.
“Am.. Am I gonna hav’ta wear..” He loses the word and pats his hip with a hand, to which Bruce chuckles. “I’d rather be safer than sorry tonight, but it’s your call, bud.”
Tim nods, wearing a diaper doesn't sound bad— it never has, but he’s never needed one before. It sounds more comforting than anything to know there wouldn’t be a repeat of tonight in the morning, too.
“Alright, bud.” Bruce says as he brushes out Tim’s half dried hair, then picking him up once it’s deemed good enough to sleep with. He carries Tim to his bedroom, laying him on the bed. Tim makes a fuss at the loss of Bruce’s presence, but he returns quicker than the flash, this time with a few things in hand.
Once again, Tim’s guided through everything that Bruce is doing, but now he’s tired, and he wants to be with Aurora and Bruce and Dick and— Cass! Just as Bruce is taping up the diaper, Cass comes in with a familiar white plush.
“‘Rora!” He says giddily, reaching out for his dragon friend to whom Cass passes over wordlessly, beginning to help Bruce dress and ready Tim for bed. With Aurora in his hands, her soft fur running over his skin, and her glittery wings reflecting the soft yellow glow of the bedroom lamps, everything becomes quiet.
His eyes feel heavy as Aurora’s wide black eyes stare down at him. She probably feels sleepy too, he thinks. Bruce grabs at one of his hands gently, prying it away from Aurora’s stuffed body to reach his arm through a sleeve, then doing the same with the other before popping his head through the shirt hole.
“There’s a little birdie!” Bruce gleams down at Tim who hides bashfully behind Aurora at the attention, Cass pulls socks onto his feet so he doesn’t get cold during the night.
“Goodnight, baby bird. Sleep well.” She says as she rounds the bed, leaning over to press a kiss to the tip of his nose with a boop from her finger, then saying her farewell to Bruce before leaving the room with a soft close of the door.
Bruce sighs and stretches his back once Tim is all set for bed— brushing his teeth right now seems a bit troublesome, not that he encourages skipping it, but they’re both very tired, and he doubts Tim would be up for such an activity. He places his hands underneath Tim’s arms to adjust where the boy lays, placing his head on a plush pillow and folding the gentle fabrics of his covers back, then laying them atop of Tim.
Bruce says something, but Tim’s trying his hardest to stay awake, so he can’t focus on the words. He flops over to lay on his stomach rather than his back, squirming around at the new feeling of a diaper on. Not an unwelcome feeling, just different.
“Boo…” Tim murmurs sleepily with his face squished against the pillow, holding Aurora close underneath his arm, he feels a body lay beside him, running a hand through his hair. “I’m right here, you and Aurora can sleep.” Bruce hums above him, nails scratching against his scalp in a way that makes him feel like purring.
He wants to thank Bruce, tell him he loves him, tell Bruce that he appreciates everything he’s done tonight, but.. it’s too hard to form that into words right now.
Tim supposes that’s just something for him to do in the morning.

This Reply by @neil-gaiman reminded me of two things:
(1) How much I despised doing, and avoiding, compulsory Games / Sports / Gym / PE / PT / Whatever.
(2) That I never, ever have to do, or avoid, compulsory Whatever again in my life.
*****
I spent my whole school career avoiding them, and forged sick notes which helped that avoidance were the first really successful fiction-writing of my life.
I also learned that when acting the part of someone with a sprained ankle, a tiny stone in the appropriate shoe was a good reminder of which ankle to limp on, while an air of suffering bravely borne was always more convincing if that air was scented with a faint hint of the embrocation rubbed into one sock.
*****
Neil didn't mention the effects of time of year or weather, but both were frequent entries in My List Of Unpleasing Things About Games.
Leaving out PT / Gym / PE or whatever, which was indoors and - thanks to the solidity of the equipment - a weekly source of sprains, strains, bruises, mild concussion and deep loathing, my old school used to observe Ye Olde Academic terms and their associated sporting pleasures.
This says something about which I'm not quite sure, and I see it's replaced them with plain old Autumn-Spring-Summer Term, which says something else about which I'm even less sure.
*****
So there was Michaelmas Term (August to Christmas), and rugby.
A soggy school rugby pitch in Northern Ireland in November, halfway through the game with the pitch well churned up, the daylight fading, the rain turning to sleet and every other member of both teams still (a) Too Large and (b) Too Keen, was a reluctant 12-year-old's equivalent of Flanders Fields on the Western Front ca. 1916.
(No artillery or machine-guns, but (a) and (b) were quite enough.)
I was also a skinny reluctant 12-year-old - those who know me now can believe that or not as you please - and the icy breezes which whistled unimpeded up, across and down the legs of my too-baggy-now-but-he'll-grow-into-them shorts were at least one cause of a lifelong fondness for saunas, hot tubs and steam baths.
*****
Then there was Hilary Term (January to Easter) and field hockey.
That was when the School Armoury issued hockey sticks and sent us forth onto the Artificial Pitch, which wasn't as muddy as the grass-covered rugby one but could produce amazing scabby knees and elbows after a tumble at speed, either after the ball or more often away from the opposition's bloody-minded front row.
Being artificial, rainwater didn't soak in but just sat there in puddles, and sometimes in early term they froze hard enough that field hockey could become ice hockey in the space of a couple of strides, cue another tumble and more scabs. Oh yes, and my shorts were still too baggy, so icy breezes in unwanted places continued to be an ongoing delight.
*****
And then there was Trinity Term (post-Easter to July) and field athletics then cricket, AKA liveliness meets somnolence.
That was when the sky became increasingly blue, the birdies sang tweet-tweet, the sun shone more often, the air became noticeably warmer and anyone with sense enjoyed as much of the soon-to-be-summer days as worries about impending End-Of-Term exams allowed.
It was also a time for field athletics until Half-Term, featuring long-jumps, high-jumps and runs of various speed and duration.
We re-learned every year that it was possible to get a nasty sunburn even in a Northern Ireland May, that unless the groundskeeper raked the sand in the long-jump pit properly there would be at least one souvenir from a local cat, that sweat could break out with the least exertion because sunny and humid were frequently simultaneous, and that horseflies were always ready to sample new blood and the way they got that blood was a painful process.
It still is.
Bastards.
*****
After Half-Term it was cricket, which combined disinterested boredom and pointless intermittent activity at a nearly Zen level with me being very, very bad at it.
I was no good as a bowler, I could throw straight or I could throw hard, but throwing hard and straight at the same time was something I never seemed to master.
Oh dear.
I was no good as a batsman, I tended to step out and slosh so the ball went in all directions, including on a couple of occasions straight up and straight down again, though not high enough or for long enough to get any runs.
What a shame.
I was no good as a wicketkeeper because I was more butterfingered than a clumsy dairymaid, and what I didn't drop I would handle wrongly, like that time I made what would have been a perfect catch except I fumbled it and knocked the stumps down before, not after.
Oops.
My incompetence at everything up close was Really Quite Remarkable, so I was invariably sent out to one of the deep field positions where, unless something Silly happened, I could be safely ignored and - if the grass was long enough - I would be ignored whatever happened.
I read a lot of good books that way.
Not a single one was about sport.

My Dearest Gentle Giftee,
This Author must admit to feeling rather distraught by recent developments in the world we currently inhabit and thought, perhaps, a brief trip to a better one might be welcome. His Majesty’s welcome ball was quite the event, and one of my little birdies overheard the most interesting interaction between the newly christened Duke of Illyria and one Miss Nesta Archeron.
This Author of course remains neutral on all items she reports, but well … I will let you judge for yourself.
✨ ✨ ✨
Friends of his Majesty, I presume?" It was an insult. Cassian wasn't quite sure how, but if there was one thing a bastard always knew, it was when he was being insulted.
"Brothers, really," Rhys said, a serious clip in his usually calm voice. Picking up on Cassian’s clear interest, Rhys inclined his head towards the taller man. "Cassian saved my life in France."
"I should laud you for your bravery, Your Grace. And thank you for protecting our king and country." She should, but she notably didn't.
Cassian felt the grin split across his face."I would consider the effort spent vanquishing the little frenchman to be entirely worth it if you would agree to a dance, Miss Archeron?"
"And I should hate to disappoint one of our heroes, I am sure." She didn't look the least bit sure of that. She looked rather thrilled to disappoint him, actually. Full lips curling up into a falsely sweet smile, "Alas. My card is full."
"The dancing only just began," he pointed out.
She blinked once, slowly. Dragging that icy stare up to meet his eyes properly for the first time. Still. Everything in the room went entirely still. “I am very popular.”
He didn’t doubt it.
That snippet???? SANTA I AM SCREAMING! I love when Nesta drags Cassian and he's just there giggling and kicking his feet and simping! I hope he gets that dance!

lili-loves-whump presents, a 'whump: the musical!' snippet,
Heathers
previous first next
(a tw!! implied/ attempted non-con. be advised)
Whumpee coughs. Their thoughts are sluggish, their head wobbly and too large for their body.
The man across from the bar smiles. His teeth are rotten and yellow. Whumpee takes another sip of they drink, smiling when the warmth of alcohol runs through their bloodstream.
The man scratches at his balding head. A clump of fuzzy blonde hair comes away at his fingertips, but he brushes it away without a second thought.
Whumpee runs the tip of their finger across their drink. The glass gleams in the low light of the bar, and Whumpee can see their reflection.
They look frazzled, headphones still on, but music no longer playing. The time of their nose is pink and their brow is furrowed. The drink burns their throat as they lift it to their lips.
"You're a pretty little thing, aren't you?" The man says. He doesn't sound friendly, or kind, and Whumpee's mental blocks rise as he speaks.
His eyes gleam with something like malice, and he hasn't taken another sip of his own glass in front of him.
Whumpee feels warm again, despite not wearing their sweater. The door behind them opens, and a gust of frigid air blows into the air, but still, Whumpee relishes the chill of the cool air.
It is dark now. Whumpee frowns. How will they get home?
The man is talking again. He has reached forward and is running a thumb over Whumpee's knuckles. They frown.
"You really are a beauty. Don't worry, the high will kick in soon."
Whumpee sobers.
"High?" they choke out, voice catching.
The man looks sorrowful. Almost.
"It'll be okay, little birdie. Don't worry your pretty little head."
The world spins, and Whumpee feels violently ill. The man has walked around the side of the bar, and wears a name tag that says Wilton.
Wilton places a warm hand on Whumpee's shoulder. Their stomach rolls, and they stay planted in their seat. The world is fuzzy, and Whumpee goes to flinch, but the movements are sluggish and too slow for their liking.
A hand on their thigh. Are they crying? It feels like Whumper all over again. Poison of some description courses through their veins.
Hands everywhere. They were alone.
A breath of icy winter air.
Whumpee's sweater is still inside. It is beginning to snow. The tears on their cheeks dry. Someone is calling out. They walk away from the warmth and fear of the bar.

Begging for Mercy
Pennae Volatus Masterlist
Augusnippets 2024 Day 10: execution/fake execution/begging for mercy
CW: capture, slavery, net, dehumanization, mentioned colonization, winged whumpee
Zem looked at their sheep and daydreamed about their future child. Xel would be giving birth soon. Zem couldn't wait to meet the chick, teach them how to tend the flocks, how to find the best berries, how to fly. They looked out at the sheep, who were happily munching away at the grass, and sighed in contentment.
A rumble filled the air. Zem's muscles tensed and they grabbed their crook. Zem launched themself into the air, but suddenly the ship emerged from the clouds, diving down and forcing them back to the ground. Then something hit them from behind. They fell as the net tightened around them. Of course, a distraction.
"We've got them!" The dialect was that of the foreigners, the ones who had started outposts all over the planet. The slavers.
Hands and legs pressed against Zem, pinning them to the ground. Zem struggled, their breaths ragged with panic.
"Let go of me!" they yelled. The words were harsh on their tongue, sharp and jagged. A knee dug painfully into their back and they grunted.
"Be careful!" a slaver snapped. "The bones are hollow."
Zem couldn't move, could only watch in horror as the ship landed. Their flock was long gone, scattered by the commotion.
The slavers picked Zem up, net and all, and carried them toward the waiting ship.
Icy fear flooded Zem's body. "Please! I have a spouse. We're expecting our first child. Please, don't do this!"
"Stop screaming, birdy, you should be grateful. You're getting a free ride off this rock."
Zem struggled against the net, but all they succeeded at doing was getting more tangled.
I should have stayed closer to the village, I shouldn't have taken the flock so far-
-I should have told Xel I love them.
"Please!" Zem screamed. "Please! I have a family, please have mercy!"
The slavers carried Zem onto the ship and Zem sobbed. Zem's stomach sank as the ship roared to life.
"Please," they whispered.

PROMPTS : POSITIVITY.
as i am looking through my blogroll, i am now realizing that reblogging this meme might have been a mistake if only because of my indecisiveness and inability to choose ... nevertheless, we must persist.
this got long so we're putting it under the cut!
send ✨ and i'll recommend a multimuse blog.
starting off strong, i am going to say birdie @entriprises! while i'm not familiar with every single character on their roster, i really enjoy how much depth and thought they put into their portrayals. it doesn't always feel necessary for me to know the source material because they're just exceptional at weaving a scene that feels both vibrant and descriptive. i also really appreciate dedication to taking a side character such as cathy and giving her nuance and interest, while also seamlessly integrating with the universe she originates from! i think that can sometimes be hard to do so smoothly (in my own experience, it can often feel clumsy or forced if it doesn't flow naturally with the rest of canon) but birdie does this so well!
send 🌼 and i'll recommend a blog with beautiful writing.
there are many of these to choose from, but i think saying "everyone i follow" is a real cop out answer so i won't do that. but i am a big admirer of laney over at @guttersniper / @tellwolves / @choicescreen. we haven't written a whole lot together, but i love reading her threads whenever they pop up. laney writes with so much realism and grit, and paints it all with intrigue, but it never feels sugar coated or glossy to me. i always feel that creating interest can sometimes toe the line into romanticism and it's extremely tricky to keep a balance, but laney definitely has such a handle on maintaining interest without wandering into an unjust territory. her writing very much reflects the reality of which her characters live in, which is something i truly love in any situation — like when a more whimsical/fantastical character is written in a flowery or poetic prose, or a monstrous character's pov is more visceral. with her oc mutt in particular, i see a lot of grit, a harshness, which very much reflects the environment in which he exists. i could go on for a very long time analyzing all the aspects i like about laney's writing but oh boy. let's carry on!
send 🍄 and i'll recommend a blog with incredible graphics.
also a very difficult question because i think everyone i know does a really beautiful job with creating something that suits their muse. @endurehim / @velourya / @catchfire some incredibly beautiful work! i'm a big fan of how ink uses colour palettes that are tailored to the characters she writes. i have the tendency to visualize what i read or write a lot and often have colour associations to stories/themes/characters/etc, so this is something i greatly appreciate. bobby is an obvious example with all shades of icy blues (appropriate and fitting!) but what i really love is ink's choice to give joe a palette of greens and yellows. not just because it looks so visually interesting, but also because of the symbolism (no idea if this was intentional on ink's part but a really nice coincidence if it wasn't!). green being symbolic of money but also being representative of renewal, growth, and regeneration — something that heavily ties to joe as a man who is constantly at odds with his identity. i think it's all very beautiful work beyond just having something that looks cool and fun (which would also great anyways because i think we should just do some things because they're cool and fun) and it really speaks to ink's dedication and thought behind her characters. love, love, love.
