You know…call me crazy but if all Azriel wanted from Elain was sex, maybe the books would just show us that…like, we wouldn’t read about them chilling in the garden together so much, or her calling his biggest insecurity “beautiful”, or him being the only one to discover what’s wrong with her when “If anyone can sense if something is amiss, it’s a mate”, or her clinging to him for peace, or him literally only ever giving his personal blade to one person in his entire lifetime and that person being Elain, or her accepting a weapon because he is the one to give it to her, or him going to save her while knowing he was likely to die but not caring because she was in danger, or her giving him presents when she specifically never gave one to her mate, or him looking at headache powder every night because she’s the one that gave it to him, or him getting her a piece of jewelry that was perfectly tailored to her, or her asking for him to immediately put it on her because she loves it so much, or them almost kissing despite all that is at risk if they do…

Idk, I kind of feel like SJM could have just said they want to fuck if that’s what she meant. But maybe that’s just me. 🫶🏼

From my next series, Ivy (WIP)

Mor was everything she wasn’t. Strong, flirtatious, confident. A warrior. A fighter.

She had walked through hell and emerged laughing, powerful, unshaken. She could drink Cassian under the table, could put anyone in their place with a single sharp smile, could command a room without even trying.

Elain had seen the way others looked at her, the way males and females alike vied for her attention, drawn to her like moths to a flame.

And Azriel… Azriel loved her. That's what everyone told her.

Elain tried to tell herself it didn’t matter. That it had nothing to do with her. But something in her chest twisted, low and deep and unfamiliar. Because what did she have, in comparison?

She was soft where Mor was steel. She was quiet where Mor was loud. She had spent most of her life in the background, watching rather than acting, tending rather than fighting.

And Azriel....surely someone like him would want a female like Mor.

Surely someone like him would need a female who could stand at his side in battle, who could match his fire, who wouldn’t flinch at the blood staining his hands. Not a gardener. Not a seer who still feared her own power.

Elain swallowed, looking away, trying to shake the strange weight pressing down on her chest. Mor laughed at something Cassian said, tossing her golden hair over her shoulder.

Azriel wasn’t laughing. His face was unreadable, but his eyes—his eyes weren’t on Mor. They were on Elain.

And something about that made her heartbeat quicken, made her fingers tighten around the stem of her wine glass. She didn’t understand why. Didn’t understand what it meant.

So she drained the last of her wine and forced herself to stand. "I should get to bed. I have an early morning," she murmured to Feyre.

"Are you sure? It’s not even ten!" Feyre said, half-draped across Rhys, her mate’s arm securely wrapped around her.

"Yes, I’m a bit tired. Goodnight, everyone."

She slipped away, before Cassian would start complaining and telling her to stay, climbing the stairs, her heart unsettled for reasons she couldn’t quite name. And as she reached the landing, she swore she felt a shadow brush against her wrist.

Love the dissecting with all the evidence laid out in acosf... while there weren't very many Elain centric references in silver flames, you make the wonderful point of how important they are to move the plot along. The text does a lot to hint at where the next book may go, with how Elain has grown and come more into her own...

Spoilers for acosf ... duh.

I have to make this post because I haven't seen any connections made like the ones I'm about to make. Lots of quotes.. ACOSF is Nesta's arc but Elain's plot builds with it (if you noticed it)

Elain starts the book agreeing to Nesta's intervention and not being present during the ultimatium given to Nesta by Rhys and Feyre.. Elain insteads packs Nesta's belongings to be transported to house of wind. I assume Mor or Azriel take her belongings there because they are the only IC members not present at the intervention..

In SF, Nesta mentions often Elain in the past, which allows Archeron character development, but I want to speak on current plot points. This is the only time from the past I'll mention because Feyre's POV never saw Elain as this dark or desperate. ACOTAR 6 will we find out about Elain's darkest days?? Let there be light!

Finally Elain and Nesta interact *200* pages into Nesta's story. A long time for sister's who were inseperable from Feyre's POV. It's a significant momement for these two. In fact, all their interactions are significant plot points!

Elain is over Graysen and doesn't breakdown like Nesta expected at her mention of him. BECAUSE Elain does not need a male!

Nesta KNOWS the hurt she causes Elain will make her cry. SJM eludes someone will witness the tears. Elain!!! tell me whose shoulder you cry on??

*Not Rhys* .. Nesta anticipated Elain to fall apart on the way home, but she also thought mentioning Grayson would make her sob. Elain is stronger than Nesta thinks. But that doesnt mean she still wont cry at some point...

TBH Imma cry . I have a feeling SJM is gonna destroy my heart and soul... and yall are fighting about who f***s who 😭 Remember these as the good ol days...

Azriel knows Elain better than Nesta at this point in time.. A day after the sisters' fall out and after *learning* pivotal information about the Trove, can we assume he's concerned about Elain? YES with that vibes change, check YES

Elain joins the IC conversation only to get *slammed* by Nesta. We know Nes can dish the burns but Elain's dialogue brings boss babe vibes. Even when hurt, she doesn't resort to demeaning language but instead slaps with the truth and leaves. MIC DROP! Girl has emotional intelligence.

Throwing this in for the *SPICE*

So why mention Elain in the middle of Nesta mentally putting herself as the fixings of a bat boy sandwich?? Human Elain may have fainted, Fae Elain HAS to share her thoughts in her book after this sentence...

Immediately after the IC discussion about scrying, Cas is even suspicous about what Elain and Feyre are up to in the morning. I agree Cas, they likely are not in a garden..

As I mentioned Azriel knows Elain at this point... Also may or may not have been the off page shoulder for Elain to cry on but thats headcanon for another time... He has FEELINGS about Elain being exposed to the Dread Trove.. Let's reflect quietly about this man's temper in ACOWAR ....... Watch how you talk about my High lady & amen.

This Chapter is Elain heavy dialogue. I dont think we've ever heard this woman speak this much, and you know none of it is without purpose! She moves the plot with this dance conversation and the way she speaks makes you know she knows what she is doing! Girl brings the plot!

Ope- Didnt forget!- Gotta go back and drop these lines in. Elain is shy around Azriel and he smiles at her. Are all the *private* moments they've shared making the public ones awkward? I'm puzzled too, Cas. SJM piece it together for us!

Didn't mention Hewn City but that just made her look boss af. She showed up, she played her part, and she let Nesta out shine her on purpose, as noticed by Eris!

But yall .. SOLSTICE CHANGES EVERYTHING

The sister's get their first private moment since the fight! "You came for me?" oh nay nay..

The sister's make their peace and enjoy the presence of another again. Elain laughs at Nesta's exclamation which isn't new Nesta banter in this story but is new for their relationship! Oh, how the Fae times have changed!

But then... dun dun dun!!! who hovers at the sound of Elain's laugh? OH maybe just the male who actually knows what's going on with both sisters. Our ever observant Spy Master! Headcannon time is now!

HC: The well known gaze is CHARGED because Azriel was there for Elain after her last conversation with Nesta. She knows that he knows that she cried and he is here. for. her! Ugh. my breath catches too, babe.

No quotes but Elain is then mentioned during Nyx's birth. She is supportive but doesn't have any dialogue. She is also FROZEN crying when Nesta is using the harp. But any one else wondering if Elain uses any powers during this emotional moment? Mother's prayers be heard 🙏

Happy first official week of fall everyone! In this commission, I wanted to show Elain and Azriel having a sweet moment together after sneaking off to an empty room. I imagine them having many little moments like this in Elain’s book and I can't wait to see how their relationship deepens once they finally act on their feelings for each other (please free them SJM).

I'm still learning the functions, so don't be too hard on me 🙈❤️. I would like to draw more Elriel in the future too since I had too much fun ♡. I might also try different artstyles since I'm not that experienced yet.

I like the way Elain would fit in his coat, given the size difference and how adorable that sight would look 🥹

The fact that Azriel kept that present on display on his night stand for a year.

The fact that exactly one year later, they had to exchange Solstice gifts privately in the dead of night because the tone had shifted that much between them, and they couldn’t stop touching each other while her mate was sleeping upstairs.

There’s truly nothing more poetic than the boy who was deprived of sunshine marrying the girl who shines like the sun 🥲 I would love to see Elain have a second chance at a wedding in her book, but this time with someone who’s worthy of her heart. Azriel is someone who has been there for Elain time and time again and I think he could be that special person for her.

This is one of my favorite Elriel scenes. It’s just so simple and sweet.

I love how Elain stands immediately as the words leave Azriel’s mouth and he takes a step towards her. Like maybe she was already planning to stand and greet him? Or she’s just that eager for him to escort her out.

Also, another thing I love about this scene? She’s already risen from her seat, meaning Azriel doesn’t need to offer her a hand at all. He didn’t need to touch her at all. And he could have offered her his arm. But no. He offers his hands to her.

And they walk outside, hand in hand. Even though it’s clearly not uneven terrain that he needs to offer his hand for. Even though Elain clearly knows where the garden is. Even though there’s absolutely no reason for them to touch each other. Other than them wanting to.
