He desperately needed to speak to his friends, consequences be damned. He had to make sure that he’s not glitched in a processor. That what he got himself into was a right course of action for any good-natured Bot.

Hence why, after making a deep inhale, a minibot finally forced the dreaded words out of his intake:

Hello everyone, long time no see). Can hardly believe it's been a whole year since the last @blitzbee-week event and man, was I glad to participate in it once more. All of works were submitted on time to an event chat, but, unfortunately, I am uploading them here only now (full-time job drains me up).

Anyways, here is my first drawing from BlitzBeeWeek event Promts List. I think it will be fair to mention that this and next couple of my works will be dedicated to my fanfic called "TFA: Icarus". I will leave a link [here] for anyone interested to give it (and an existing teaser) a try. And yes, I am, in fact, going to finally upload first chapters pretty soon, it's happening, guys))). Thanks a ton for everyone who left their kudos there throughout a year, you have given me courage to put this behemoth of a story on paper and actually work it through.

As for the current entry for an event, I will provide part of a draft to one of chapters which is related to a depicted scene. It'll be "hidden" under a cut line for anyone wishing to get a more... fleshed out picture of what's going on here. Hope you'll enjoy reading it)

“Bumblebee… are you listening to me?”

It was beyond confusing for Ratchet to see a younger Bot acting so out of touch with reality. He’s hunched over a console, helm resting in one servo while a wielding tool was twirled slowly in digits of another. Bumblebee looked so tired, clearly not caring about a task at servo, nor about an advice coming from his elder friend.

White and red Autobot knew how cheerful Bumblebee got each time they met via video calls, clearly waiting for a chance to talk to old teammates, even if these calls didn’t last long. That’s why him being so silent and lost in own thoughts was that much more worrying to witness. 

Upon being prompted again, the young bot finally raised his optics, the weight of his gaze almost making Ratchet flinch in surprise - to think that a recently promoted Prime was capable of behaving so out of character was indeed an alarming sign of change. 

The truth was, the minibot couldn’t help but to act all secretive, as if he’s done something wrong. 

Because, all things considered, he has. 

Minibot was well aware of what his actions could lead up to. All those rendezvous and revelations were such a dangerous subject to talk about, something that surely could lead him to being court marshaled if he’s caught by anybot. And what’s even worse - Bumblebee wasn’t certain whether telling friends what’s been troubling him was a good idea. 

Surely they’d not rat him out… but would they continue interacting with a yellow Autobot if he shared said secret with them? Wouldn't it be more mature of him to leave mechs oblivious (in order to protect them) and let his fears to silently fester in his processor?

... yet, to his shame, a minibot felt his resolve to keep his intake shut breaking upon seeing a haunted expression on Ratchet’s faceplates. Bumblebee wished he hadn’t looked up into the wise optics of his, those that seemed to read him as an unlocked datapad. How could he play it cool when a medic was looking at him in such a manner?

“…kid?” Now Ratchet was truly worried for his companion. He wasn’t even certain he’s ready to hear an explanation, but knew in his spark that he had to get to the bottom of a problem for minibot's sake.

… a fleeting moment or relief at voicing his concerns instantly evaporated, changed to regret once he saw Racthet’s optics widening beyond usual capacity and heard Optimus sputtering and coughing on his energon ration off the camera. 

Such reaction made Bumblebee hide his helm between shoulder pauldrons in a clear sign of dread - so much for the support coming from teammates it seemed. 

“What?” Optimus asked after standing up from a table he’s sitting next to, the stool screeching audibly after a mech span in it. “Help them? What do you mean by that, Bumblebee? Are you alright? Do they… force you to do something for them or..?”

Minibot didn’t answer any of those questions. Wasn’t able to do it under the searching gaze of an elder mech’s optics which seemed to pin him to his own stool. Bumblebee felt like energon was going to freeze in his lines and tubes from a rising horror. Time seemed to stop for him, not unlike inner mechanisms in a frame of his. He couldn't utter a single sound, words swimming in a jumbled mess that was his processor.

What could he possibly say in his defense, now that his teammates knew of his secret? That there was a proper reason for him to feel pity for the inmates? That he was the only one to keep those mechs alive because nobody else did? That perhaps, Primus help him, all this time they were held in prison, somebot tried to take them out of game by starving them to their deaths?

A yellow Bot clearly hasn’t thought the conversation through, just as he always did, hasn't prepared himself for such a reaction even, and now that mistake was biting his aft. 

But then… then minibot heard something that immediately tore him from a panicking state he got stuck in. 

“I’ll take care of it, Prime.” Ratchet announced in a calm tone, breaking the tense silence which settled over the video call. Bumblebee was so stunned that he didn’t register those words right away, looking dumbly at warm optics of a mech on the other side of a call line. 

“But-“ 

“Optimus.” Medic cut off his commanding officer in a stern but good-natured manner, showing that he knew what he’s doing. Trusting the judgement of an older Bot, red and blue mech nodded to him and stepped away from a console, giving both of his friends some room to talk to each other. 

Young Prime could hardly believe what he’s been witnessing in front of him. Afraid to hope that his situation might’ve not been so dire after all. Baiting his breath, he watched red and white Bot turning to him again and leaning closer to a screen.

“Bumblebee, tell me, what’s happening back on Cybertron.” Ratchet asked his young friend, trying to look as non-threatening as possible, ready to tentatively listen to everything minibot’s about to say. 

And that’s when Bumblebee understood, felt it in his spark which gleefully thrummed in his chest that his old teammates were not mad at him - only worried for his well-being. Said realization made the built up over orbital cycles tension leave his frame and gave him courage to answer as honestly as he could.  

“You don’t know even half of what's going on, guys,” He stated after a breath moment of silence, then scooted on his chair closer to a screen as well and continued speaking in a hushed tone as to not to be heard by anyone else on his side of a video call. 

While retelling the recent events, which took place in Tripticon Prison, young Prime couldn’t help but periodically glance at a screen to his right side, a list of main convicts taking up most of its surface. 

Their stern gazes seemed to burn a viewer with hostility. Evil, cold, sparkless optics on unsightly faceplates. That’s what fellow guards always tended to whisper to each other either in fear or in bold mockery while walking down the hallways.

But to Bumblebee the very same pairs of optics, those he'd looked into more times then any of the local mechs, more then his friends even, told another story. Each time he saw Decepticons, bound and stripped of their weapons, there was no rage in their expressions, nor malice or contempt - only an eternal tiredness, hopelessness... and resignation with Fate.

Warframes. Mighty mechs being brought to their knees and stripped of their pride. Truly a sight which made minibot feel more miserable then three inmates he tried to take care of.

“Bossbot… Ratchet… please, come back here as soon as you can," Recently promoted Prime finally said as a conclusion to his speech. "I… I am afraid I won’t be able to handle this situation on my own anymore.”

The New Kids On The Block

While I am still on hiatus with the New X-men show, that doesn't stop me from coming up with ideas inspired by recent X-Comics. And my best one is for Season 4 featuring the newest mutants in Exceptional and Uncanny X-men.

The premise is that this new squad, The Outliers, will be tutored by our main cast, sort of like Season 3 of Young Justice.

Becca Constance Simon-Pinette (Calico) will be advised by Wind Dancer, Sophie Yong (Jitter) (Sofia in the comics) will be advised by Blink, Valentin Correa (Ransom) will be paired with Hellion, Hotoru (Deathdream) is with X-23, Trista Marshall (Bronze) is paired with Mercury, squad leader Thao Tran (Melee) is with Bling!, and Alex Luna (Axo) is with Icarus.

"Not many do - even some of my coworkers aren't privy to this information. I just happen to read a lot." There was comfort in the old - in the past, in what had been already done; there was also unease, discomfort - but it hung in a delicate balance. A pattern Icarus followed closely - box plots and linear graphs replacing the thoughts in his mind. "Both - I've only been working here for a few months but - it's all fascinating. I like reading up on the places I live, getting to know their history... having a more innate understanding of the ground I'm stepping on - you know? I like feeling... in - tune."

Greetings! Welcome to my 2024 reading wrap up! Or my awards ceremony for books (and bookish media) I enjoyed the most. Looking back to my introduction to this post last year, I wrote that I'd try to write better reviews. I didn't do that. And I'd try to better remember what I read. I didn't to that either. Hmmm ... New year, new luck or something. Nevertheless, thank you to everyone who took time to look at my posts and read some of them! May the good books find you!

The one goal I accomplished 2024 was to read less (reading is fun but I have other things that need doing unfortunately), though it was not necessarily out of my own free will. I was just tired (work was annoying). I read a total of 64 books, including two graphic novels (not counting any manga), four non-fiction books and three audiobooks. 13 were borrowed from the library and 18 were sequels or spin-offs. I only DNFed one book and disliked two more (as if not to say, I hated them with a passion~).

The only pieces related to literature I hated more were two plays I saw: adaptions of Oscar Wildes's The Importance of Being Earnest and Eugène Ionesco's The Bald Soprano. I like both pieces but the adaptions had atrocious endings (The Importance of Being Earnest suddenly had vampires out of nowhere and The Bald Soprano had its final scene edited to 20 minutes of telling us how important love is ...) I didn't think I could walk out of a theatre that appalled and filled with hatred.

I get asked a lot if people can draw my ocs. YES! I usually draw something back if I have the chance too (no promises). I do ask that you do not whitewash my OC's, especially Mzamaki. It's incredibly awkward as it has happened way too many times for me to be comfortable with. His coloration is based on what I think is most aesthetically pleasing, and very intentional. It kills my excitement to see a free work of art get it wrong, and y'know. I can't really complain because it's free, so it just sucks... I don't believe it's an intentional message of whiteness being better, I will always give the benefit of the doubt. I strongly don't like it though

So! Apparently we have subsystems lol? I think, at least. That's my theory. It changes our previous dichotomy of "fragments vs alters" if we consider these fragments never went away, they're just living somewhere else in the headspace and function differently regarding communication and fronting

What I'm speculating right now is that it's divided in:

The cottage: originally Mari's house, now also home to Boo, Ilya, Florence, Seraphim, Belle and possibly JD. They have high integration and can communicate clearly if they try to, and communicate mostly in the headspace. They tend to front for a long time without breaks

The city: a single street filled with houses and shops that everyone used to go to, now home to "fragments". Spamton, Mike & Marshall, Jewel & Najuma, Icarus, Rayzor and Ilona. They rarely front and when they do it's not for a long time and depends heavily on triggers. They can't really communicate anymore

The cliff & the zones: home to Viper, Smiley and Mikey. They have good communication between each other, even if they don't want to, and mostly communicate through text. They also front for long times but switch with each other. The zones is specifically for when they feel like their danger days selves and can't be entered otherwise

The cottage (funny enough, it IS a total coincidence that it looks exactly like Portia's cottage)

The cliff (the cottage is at the other side of the forest)

SilverVixen: We would have been shot down immediately. Too obvious an approach.

HIMBO: YEAH, I KNOW.

Icarus: Almost as annoying as your whining.

Icarus: Yes, I simply don't see the need to practice it on children.

ADMIN [Zo]: I think this means he's starting to like us.

MARSHAL Kotallo: That will be a first.

HIMBO: YOU HUSH.

HIMBO: BUT DO THE SPECTRES SEEM... WEAK TO ANYONE ELSE?

HIMBO: I MEAN, SURE, THEY'RE SOME OF THE MOST DANGEROUS MACHINES I'VE EVER FOUGHT. BUT IS THIS REALLY THE BEST THAT THE ZENITHS COULD COME UP WITH AFTER A THOUSAND YEARS?

DIVINER: I've been meaning to ask that too! They're not even networked together, so they can't call for help! That just seems... bizarre!

MARSHAL Kotallo: They also don't have the infamous Zenith shields. I'll admit, their design and behavior seems curiously lacking for combat machines.

SilverVixen: These aren't combat machines. In fact, they aren't even utility machines. They were designed purely for the purpose of keeping the colony clean, cutting back overgrowing plant life and chasing off native animals, while we were in our VR simulations.

SilverVixen: They're basically hyper-advanced roombas.

HIMBO: YOU KNOW NONE OF US KNOW WHAT THOSE ARE.

DIVINER: Roombas were one of the earliest personal-use robots! They were first manufactured before Ted Faro was even born! They were nothing but a small platform with wheels and some cleaning devices on the underside. They traveled in a random direction, cleaning as they went, until they hit something, at which point they picked a new random direction and continued. They were slow and inefficient, and completely lacking in any sort of intelligence, but they worked!

SilverVixen: ...wow. I'm not sure anybody from my time would even know all that.

DIVINER: One of the first data caches my people found contained fifty thousand Amazon user reviews for various models of roombas!

DIVINER: No, we don't know why either.

Icarus: Stop using audio chat for a moment. I need to concentrate.

Icarus: If you must bother me, use the text function.

HIMBO: HYPOCRITE.

DIVINER: Multitasking is the sign of a flexible mind!

SilverVixen: You just blew the regulator on the printers.

DIVINER: Yep!

SilverVixen: WHY? All that did was attract attention!

SilverVixen: Look, there is an entire army of spectres heading for Aloy!

FlameHairSavior: They were going to notice us eventually.

SilverVixen: So you decided to just get yourself killed early and save them the trouble?

SilverVixen: Oh.

SilverVixen: Oh, my.

FlameHairSavior: It worked.

Icarus: Clever. Risky, and you might regret it later, but clever.

DIVINER: Okay, we'll be in position soon! Right now we're running away from the army of machines!

MARSHAL Kotallo: At least they're not focused on us any more.

FlameHairSavior: Alva, Kotallo, we've met up with the others.

SilverVixen: Except me.

FlameHairSavior: Right. Anyway, we're almost to the tower.

MARSHAL Kotallo: Understood.

SilverVixen: Expect either more spectres or the Zeniths themselves. Maybe both.

FlameHairSavior: Tilda, later you're going to have to tell me why you people followed this idiot.

FlameHairSavior: Did the old world have classes on bad guy speeches?

ADMIN [Zo]: PLEASE focus on the task at hand.

HIMBO: WELL, THAT WORKED.

HIMBO: NEVER THOUGHT I'D ENJOY WATCHING A MACHINE KILL SOMEONE SO MUCH.

FlameHairSavior: It can be pretty satisfying, yeah.

ADMIN [Zo]: PLEASE FOCUS.

DIVINER: Oh! One more thing! Tilda, your shield is still working, right?

SilverVixen: No, the range on the device was larger than expected.

DIVINER: Oh, that's too bad. How long will it take you to fix it?

SilverVixen: At least a few days with the printers. The shields were designed to be constantly active and never need maintenance.

DIVINER: Ooh, does that mean we could get shields like that??

SilverVixen: Of course. How do you feel about weeks of surgery implanting highly specialized cybernetic devices into your body? The pain only lasts a year or two after that.

ADMIN [Zo]: Please talk LATER.

FlameHairSavior: Found Erik.

ADMIN [Zo]: Erik?

SilverVixen: No one distract her. Even without his shield, Erik is a killer.

FlameHairSavior: Still talks too much, though.

ADMIN [Zo]: Erik Visser is down. Aloy is heading to the top of the tower.

SilverVixen: Forgive my paranoia: You mean Erik is dead, correct?

ADMIN [Zo]: Yes.

SilverVixen: Good. He's not an enemy you want to leave alive behind you.

SilverVixen: I'm dealing with Gerard now.

MARSHAL Kotallo: The rest of us should regroup.

ADMIN [Zo]: My thoughts exactly.

FlameHairSavior: See you at the top.

SilverVixen: Gerard has always been petty.

DIVINER: We could have used that!

The Sypher Trilogy Masterlist

The Sypher Trilogy is a Story made up of three different main story lines. For the majority of the Series, this is just an excuse to write about all three characters/storylines, but it will become important/necessary eventually.

My Masterlist! And the Infopost for the entire series!

Things you need to know about all three stories

Number 1: In this universe, there are different planets, species, etc. but about 99% of the people on earth are both human and don’t know about the other civilised planets. The first two Stories play on earth, while the third plays on another planet, which is very earth like, but isn’t earth.

Number 2: none of these characters know about any other character from the other two stories. Neither the three Azriels, nor any other character know that someone from the other stories exist… well, ✨most✨ characters don’t know ;)

Number 3: most people will say something like ‘The Overs knew’, ‘Overs please’ or ‘in the name of the Overs’ etc. This is because instead one god, or any god in particular, the beings people worship are called (who would have guessed) Overs. These are kinda like gods, but also no. Will be explained further.

Number 4: there are a few Story independent Characters/characters not bound to one story/extra Characters. These include but are not restricted to: The Unknown (my beloved), The Empress/Empress Interitus/Mistress Interitus (from chapter 0) and more.

A Forever Caged Bird/Sypher Story three

Story: born as the result of a failed experiment, Azriel’s life didn’t start good. When the lab exploded, everything got worse, and a 7 year old boy had to live in the ruins of the world he knew. When he got picked up by Malvik, that changes. Well, for ten years, before the bastard starts a war and sends Azriel to die in a military base closest to enemy lines.

Sorry to put this on the body of the post but MY TIME HAS COME!

Anything by KM Shea (I recommend starting with her Magiford or Timeless Fairy Tale series, if you want something big, or her King Arthurs or Elves of Lessa if you want something smaller. Also, her rgp lit under AM Sohma is great)

Kyle Robert Shultz's Afterverse books. Best of the best. 10/10. Highly recommended if you want chaos and heart

Kate Stradling if you want "one-shot" stories but in novel format. She does mostly fantasy but her Altair books are dystopian but…in the light sense, if that's anything to you?

Celeste Baxendell if you want something that'll rip your heart to shreds but still give a happy ending

Tales of Goldstone Wood for some hauntingly beautiful Christian fantasy (in my opinion, the first book is sliiiightly the weakest but still worth a read)

Blades of Acktar for non-magical but not of this world Christian fantasy. So good. This author KNOWS what she's talking about, isn't afraid to namedrop God/Jesus, but never makes it preachy

Beyond the Tales (same author as above, Tricia Mingerink) but Christian allegorical fractured fairy tales with Native American inspired kingdoms

Tara Grayce is Mingerink's alt who writes more general fantasy. Still clean and so fun

Okay, sue me but I like Paul McCusker and Chuck Black. The former wrote the Passages series, and it's probably been over a decade since I've read them...but they're basically bible stories set in another world. Chuck Black has…questionable theology to me (a bit too…pro America, I guess?) but his Knights books have interesting symbolism that compels me

Gail Carson Levine and Jessica Day George are two awesome fractured fairy tale and fantasy writers. Big recommend

T. Kingfisher has some amazing books, but I've only read two (Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking and The Seventh Bride)

Where the Mountain Meets the Moon (Grace Lin) is a really love tale in a Chinese setting that has a lovely mythological feel to it, diving on stories and such

WR Gingell's books are ALWAYS fun (Lady of Dreams series and City Between will always be my favorites of hers)

The Ascendance trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen has some amazing twisty fantasy political drama but made to be palatable

AG Marshall has great fairy tale retellings that are just fun to read. Her characters are chaotic and it's so much fun

I'm very fond of Allison Tebo's books. Shorter novellas, for the most part and also fractured fairy tales (can you see a thread?)

Melanie Cellier has fun fractured fairy tales and fantasies. For me, they can be hit or miss but they're all generally nicely written

Sarah K. Wilson has so many fantasies. I've only really read her Dragon school books and they're all SO incredible (bonus points for the protagonist who uses a cane)

Britain Kalai Soderquist is also a fairy tale writer. Her two books I've read, though, operate in a regency world and take the epistolary form. Basically two women living two fairy tales writing to each other the chaos they're experiencing

Arielle Baily has a fun novel called the Icarus Aftermath which is a sci-fi and Greek mythology blend (I say fun but it's also devastating)

Kendra Merritt also has an amazing series of disabled fairy tales and a dnd-inspired book series (under KM Merritt). Heads up for lgbtq implications since I know that's not for some people

On that note, I'd also recommend Legends and Lattes but (again) lgbt pairing

Patricia C Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles

CB Cook has a really fun superhero series following twins; a little too light sometimes for me but still really fun

I recommend anything by Alydia Rackham, period. If you want fantasy, Baldur's Tears or her fairy tale books are incredible. If you want something shorter, the sherlock-adjacent Mute of Pendywick Place books are a delight

Intisar Kanani, again fairy tales, is amazing I love Wingfeather Saga. It was one of my obsessions. I am ALWAYS a fan of humor that can be spun into depth

Finley Aaron - I love her fairy tales and would have started on her dragon books, except I think she stopped publishing

James Riley's books are a riot. The ones I read were his fairy-tale based ones which are amazing! Chaotic gremlin duo who should not be trusted but somehow are the most qualified for the job

Suzanne Collins' Underland Chronicles will always be a favorite of mine (ironically, I've only read one of her Hunger Games books)

Also highly recommend George MacDonald. Light Princess, Princess and the Goblin, and some of his short stories are a great place to start.

Other authors I recommend/have heard good things about that are clean: Kirsten Fichter, Deborah Grace White, Camille Peters, Kenley Davidson, Patrick W Carr, Shannon Hale, SD Smith, HL Burke, Diana Wynne Jones, Lea Doue, Christopher Healy, I don't know anymore

Actually, in general, I recommend looking at the goodreads pages of authors you like and see what they've read, too. Some of them leave reviews and the clean-writers author indie group is a web with easily followable threads. I've also found good authors by looking at general reviews and seeing authors they're compared to.

Anyway, excuse the dump of words, OP! But I wish you luck reading!

Self-published or Christian works welcome but only if they're high quality (i.e. not worse than general market fiction).
