With a scoff, Aloy turns back to staring at the Zenith base, silhouetted against the vibrant sunset. “I’m not ‘feeling poorly,’” she says. “I’m just…unsettled. There’s nothing we can do about Nemesis right now, but I feel like maybe there’s something we missed inside that base, and I just…I can’t bring myself to explore it. Too many bad things happened inside.”

Kotallo crouches down beside her, looking out at the base, then turns to look her in the eyes. “Would it be a presumption to think you might not want to explore alone?” he says.

She blinks after a moment, breaking the stare. “Not a presumption,” she says.

Random personal headcanon, but I absolutely believe that once he had children, dad!tallo/grandpa!tallo would mess with them when they ask how he lost the arm.

Every time they ask, it's a different answer. Just deadpan saying things like: "I flew on the wings of the Ten and touched the sun, at great cost." "I was so hungry during one very lean winter that I was forced to eat it." "I learned the hard way why one must never try to pet a sleeping Bellowback."

By the time he does eventually tell them the real story, they're just like, "Yeah, okay. Suuure, Dad. 😒" Hekarro has to step in and corroborate it before they'll finally believe him.

(My great grandfather had to have his arm amputated above the elbow in the '50s, after getting it caught in one of the machines at the manufacturing plant where he worked, and he would pull pranks like that. He was awesome. 😆)

avad excited to finally ditch the crown to join aloy and leave the sundom, arriving at her mysterious base for his first adventure just to be greeted by a glowing machine that immediately knows his name and entire history, his missing vanguard captain and missing sunhawk, a tenakth marshal from the clan that nearly jeopardized his embassy, the first utaru brave enough to fight the carja in the red raids, and a bizarre person from an advanced imperialist nation across the world all sitting in a lounge archiving apollo and blasting jackson five while aloy is in the corner playing space invaders with one hand and coding hephaestus with the other next to her apparent fucking twin and the asshole who founded the eclipse threat that kept his brother prisoner and nearly ended the world

My favorite thing about Kotallo is how reserved he is in conversations with Aloy, but once you get him out in battle, he screams his brains out like a 12yr old COD player.
