Seeing another persons post about how they want an offspring with their drifter and said hex member makes me feel more comfortable with my own delulu little world I’ve got going on for myself.

Lately I’ve been hc’ing coming up with my own lore about my drifter with Amir. Having 1 child that’s also a first of their kind. A void touched being who also has partial Volt aspects, electrical abilities but not as strong as Amirs’ and slight metal skin.

I’ve been wanting to draw out this thought for a few days now but I feel scared to do so. 😭

Analyzing a little snippet of Jayce and Viktor’s conversation in s2e8

Spoilers for Arcane season 2 below the cut, SPECIFICALLY FOR EPISODES 8 AND 9

Some notes:

I am not a LoL player and haven’t cross referenced the wider lore. I’m coming at this with the information available from the show

I am going to be referring to the spacey spirit realm/mind palace/ hexsoup Viktor spends s2 in as the astral plane. Prolly not what it’s actually called, but this is my yap session so I make the rules

the timestamp for the whole convo im gonna be talking about is s2e8 ~16:23 and the specific moment I want to point out is at ~16:48

For those who don’t want to pop open Netflix, a summary:

Viktor has come to Jayce as a mannequin to talk to him, asking Jayce to help pursue their shared goals with hextech once more.

Then the following words are exchanged:

J: “Everything you've done to these people, you did alone.”

V: “Perhaps. But I'm alone no longer. I now speak with all their voices.”

Viktor is lying.

While Jayce might think this last statement is true, he saw the cult and talked to Viktor/Salo, it’s blatantly false. Viktor even admits to it outright later during the finale, “I thought I could bring an end to the world's suffering. But when every equation was solved... all that remained... were fields of dreamless solitude.”

But it’s not the finale yet. So why do I claim Vik’s bullshitting?

Because as he makes his claim of being backed by many, the camera gives us this shot.

A full body zoom out of Viktor standing *alone*.

But I think Viktor *believes* in this. I think the framing is chosen to fit the narrative he wants to tell here, it even mirrors ascended Viktor, who gets the same framing.

But in the latter image, Viktor has evidence. Viktor has thousands of souls all around him.

So it’s not as if they can’t be ensnared in the astral plane. It’s not as if Viktor during e8 can’t have evidence. It’s that he simply *doesn’t* have any.

Because Viktor is lying.

And Viktor is alone.

Bree wants to go to a concert and Sel is quite frankly appalled at the idea (think almost comical look of horror on his face)

Sel’s ears are so sensitive, he can’t get closer than a block from the venue (and that’s pushing it) or he’ll as Alice puts it, “start tweakin’ ”

Seeing his face, Bree tries to reassure him that they have metal detectors and they check bags in the venue (with a completely deadpan expression he crafts a crossbow of aether with one hand, did you forget aether is a thing???? Briana???? Demons don’t need metal)

Bree suggests he could put in some earplugs and come with her? “Briana please be serious,” he’s even more outraged.

But the thought of Sel wearing earplugs or ear muffs and scowling in a corner is so funny to me

I propose to the azris council tonight that up until the official announcement of Cassian and Nesta's mating ceremony- Eris and the IC decided to continue the charade of Eris' courtship of Nesta as a cover for the exchange of intelligence between the Autumn and Night courts. Intercepted by any other party, it seems that Eris sends heartfelt confessions of love, declarations and promises from a place of kindness he thought he had lost. But to the discerning eye- there is code in the poetry Eris writes to impart the time and place of his father's secret meetings, promises to take a lover to beautiful Spring Court fields where Beron happens to be testing borders and innuendo of an empty, lonely bed as to hide conspiracies vesting for autumn's seat of power.

And who receives these letters, stamped and sent to the House of the Wind? Surely not Nesta who wants nothing to do with Eris- she has allowed him to use her name but draws the line at anymore. Absolutely not Cassian who detests the situation in the first place. Well, there's one other resident of the House. One in need of reading material to distract himself, one trained in infiltration, intelligence-gathering and code.

Why not Azriel? At first he's frustrated- because it's fucking Eris. Azriel would very much prefer to never have to be in contact with Eris. He rolls his eyes at the superfluous poetry "You remind me of the star of the blue sky, the world will end when you leave." and scoffs at the unnecessary adjectives "My most adored lady". He takes on the habit of a weekly, a monthly letter- scratching out the fluff and jotting down the intelligence and then, before he writes his response to every correspondence, he thinks about how he should burn the letters in the fireplace and then is too reminded of Eris that he just begins a pile of buried letters in his drawer. One day, Azriel catches a line which he swears references a queer fey poet and the shadow-singer spends all day in the library to be sure. What could he mean? What could Eris have possibly meant by that?

And why does Azriel care? Why does he get excited for a new letter? Why is there a pang of his heart when he reads Nesta's name but can practically hear Eris say Azriel's name in the words? Why does Azriel start pouring over poetry books? Why does he keep forgetting that each word is meant to be code, a disguise for intelligence? When did the cruel Eris, ugly to the heart, learn how to write so elegantly? Why does Azriel see a lovely line of poetry and think of Eris? Why does Azriel, in his spare time, keep going over old letters just in case he's missed something?

Why does, when Azriel's eyes meet Eris' across the ballroom of Nesta and Cassian's mating ceremony, does he feel like he's lost something? There's no longer a need to keep the charade but when Eris walks away with a drunk smirk (it's an ugly thing. it's a pretty thing)- Azriel needs to something, he needs to say something but where are the words-

Oh also there is just something about Sevika leaving Jinx to fight alone ONLY when she was told to. Prior to that she joined just about EVERY altercation Jinx got into in season 2. Stood by her and protected her and she only left when Jinx explicitly told her to for Isha’s sake.

Also yes I AM just now getting through season 2. I’ve watched up to ep 5.

the thing i loved the most about thk is the sound work, all the sound effects, the songs to introduce the characters, the song playing in kantbison nc scene is just so precisely good and on point!! the song that plays in that one scene of kant in his fathers car is so him omg im really really loving everything about this series

Anon, I’m with you 100%. I love all the songs/soundtracks in the first episode so far. And like you say, the sound effects are also good

My one tiny criticism - the sound can be a tad too loud sometimes that it drowns the conversation of the characters (it should really be on the background/lower down while our boys are saying their lines)

But otherwise, I adore every single thing about the show so far - and even that tiny critic I just said, well…it didn’t stop me watching 3 times in the last 48 hours! (And I’m gearing up for my 4th round this weekend 😉)
