Ezra building a new lightsaber with the matching piece to Kanan’s! Huyang talking about Kanan! 😭❤️ (was really excited for a second that we were gonna get a new blaster-saber though. Call it gimmicky but that thing was genuinely useful!)
Ezra showing off his skills. Little enough as we got of him, it just reinforced his character journey in Rebels and how much he grew and progressed from being so annoying to ‘yes! That’s our boy!’ And the comm and the armor. Classic Ezra, only missing an air vent crawl. Love him.
And so does Hera! Her space son has returned! SO WHY NO HUG, DAVE???!!😭😤Come on! It’s a streaming show; there are no limits on runtime. Would another thirty seconds to a minute have been too much to ask? It’s gonna be years! We need to see him meet Jacen before that kid actor gets too old!
Also loved the trio fighting their way through, which just highlighted how great Ezra is at teamwork (those last two seasons of Rebels are just great with the way he and Kanan and also he and Sabine just work together like a well oiled machine). And the Force throw echo was great (although uh, Sabine? You just figured out how to pick up a lightsaber two seconds ago, so throwing a person might be a bit overly ambitious? I mean it worked out, and trust in the Force and all, but still)
Sad that Baylan’s story is really only just beginning. 😔 Was hoping for a full resolution for him this season. I guess they’ll have to recast bc I don’t see how they could abandon that plot line at this point.
I’d say that was an issue with the show itself, that it’s mostly all setup and moved very slowly in the first half without actually using that time to really give us information that we needed to know. Important backstory was revealed in vague shreds when there was really no reason for the mystery. Even in Rebels, Sabine has always suffered from delayed-backstory-itis, with the details of her family and her time at the Academy not being shared until the Darksaber arc in S3. That was even more true here. She seemed off to me, and we got only cryptic hints about everything that had happened post-Rebels until the VERY LAST EPISODE. Turns out she has a very good reason for being a different Sabine than we remembered! I get wanting to have Ezra hear it, but the audience needed to know first! And same goes for the whole master/apprentice thing with Ahsoka. They had barely interacted before and then we’re TOLD that there’s this whole relationship there that came sort of out of nowhere. Some things we need to SEE.
Episode 5 was definitely the highlight. Not perfect but hitting SO many of the right notes. Clone Wars, Rebels. *chef’s kiss*
Overall, there were lots of great individual moments in this show and the second half was much better than the first, but as a whole it could’ve been better.
A Hayden cameo is always a joy. Love that he’s getting to do this.

imma bombard you with questions for scientific research (don’t feel pressured to answer though)
what are your thoughts on ahsoka so far? how would you rate the show out of 10? what’s your favorite episode so far? what’s your least favorite? who’s your favorite character? what is your favorite scene? what are your thoughts on episode 6?
please tag me if you answer so i get the notification! <3
bonus: what’s your favorite star wars movie and character?
Hi @byler-is-endgame7 !
I’ll gladly answer your questions for scientific research.
First, what do I think of Ahsoka so far?
So far, I’ve been quite pleased with the story… it feels like a spiritual continuation of Rebels which I though was a lovely series. Once more, it primarily focuses on three of my favorite characters in all of Star Wars media (Ahsoka, Hera and Sabine)… with that being said, I may be bias.
I have really enjoyed the lightsaber battles. I have enjoyed the world building aspect of the show. I think, visually, they’ve done a great job. I like the fact that they brought back Huyang. He was an underutilized character in The Clone Wars, and it’s cool to see him in live action. A lot of folks have complained endlessly about the actors, but I think they’ve done a great job translating the characters into live action. If I had one complaint, it would be that the dialogue has come off as sort of clunky and awkward at times. It’s not terrible. It’s something that I can look over mostly.
How would I rate the show?
Eh. I kind of hate to do that. My friends often ask me to do this, and my answer has always been, “so far, I’ve really enjoyed it, but I’m going to hold off my final judgement because Filoni still has plenty of time to blow the whole story for me.” So, I’m going to hold off on rating it overall.
Favorite and least favorite episodes?
Tell you what, I’ll rank the episodes out of 10 for you:
Episode 1: 9.0.
Episode 2: 9.0.
Episode 3: 8.0.
Episode 4: 10.
Episode 5: 10.
Episode 6: 8.5.
With that being said, four or five are probably my favorites thus far (I would probably lean towards five). The action sequences were fantastic, and I love that Ahsoka has turned a corner emotionally. Three was probably my least favorite. It wasn’t bad. The space battle was awesome.
My favorite character?
Ahsoka. Absolutely Ahsoka. I’m a self-proclaimed simp.
Favorite scene?
I honestly liked the entire sequence post-pulling Ahsoka out of the water in episode five. If I could chose only one scene though, it would be the moment Ahsoka hugs Jacen, and has the conversation with Hera about where she thinks Sabine has gone. Ahsoka’s really soft with both of them, and I think it’s sweet. I also like that Ahsoka is wearing those ragged jammies with that white shawl.
Thoughts on Episode 6?
It was okay, but not my favorite. I didn’t like that there wasn’t much Ahsoka in it. I do get why. I did think it was cute that Ahsoka had Huyang tell her a children’s story to try and get her mind off of everything. I’m honestly also sort of mad at Sabine. I wanted them to find Ezra too, but not like this. Once worse, I’m anxious because I’m starting to think that the heroes may end up getting stranded out there because how TF are they going to get home without the whales and without the hyperspace coordinates to jump back? I did like the fact that we got a little more character development surrounding Shin and Baylan. I think that they’re fascinating characters, and I want to know more. I liked the Noti. And, ultimately, I was happy to see Ezra again. It’s been a while.
Bonus:
Favorite Star Wars move?
Definitely the Empire Strikes Back. That’s actually my comfort film (despite it ending badly for the good guys which I don’t typically like).
Favorite Star Wars character?
My most favorite is Ahsoka Tano, but Obi-Wan Kenobi is a very, VERY close second.

‼️‼️AHSOKA EP 5 SPOILERS‼️‼️‼️‼️
You have been warned
I have WAYYY too many feelings about this episode. Like omg??
I will try to make this as comprehensible as possible but it’s 11:30 and I’ve been up since 6 and I’m REALLY EXCITED
Okay RAPID FIRE
Huyang holding Sabines helmet was so sad and it felt like he was kind of mourning her and I swear I almost cried
(Technically last episode) Hera getting there BARELY too late made me so sad
THE WHOLE AHSOKA AND ANAKIN THING
THE BANTER “You look the same” “You look old” “Well that happens”
I LOVE THEMMMMM
Them fighting, Anakin sending her back to their first battle to go through everything
ALL THE CLONES
HER HOLDING THE HAND OF THE CLONE AND HIM HOLDING HER HAND BACK
I saw Rex in the corner of the screen and I was like OH MY GOD ITS REX LET HIM TALK PLEASEEEEE
I retained very little of that scene I was so focused on Rex
He had like 5 words BUT HE TALKED
HE DID IT
He didn’t take his helmet off BUT WE HEARD HIM TALK TO AHSOKA
AND IN THE CREDITS IT WAS CAPTAIN/COMMANDER REX
I actually had such an emotionally reaction to him being called commander. I was for a week but IT STILL HAPPENED
And most importantly Temuera Morrison as Rex FINALLY 😭
I CANNOT get over how young she looks. Like obviously we could tell in the animation in the first few seasons that she was young but she looked soooo much younger live action Mandolore compared to animated Mandolore. It hurt me. She’s so young.
AND THE FACT THAT WE GOT TO SEE LIVE ACTION MANDOLORE AND AHSOKA DESTORYING GROWN WARRIORS AT 17 😭😭
I love her
And the young Ahsoka actress (Ariana Greenblatt) was amazing all the love in the world to her ❤️❤️
THE FUCKING
SWITCHES
BETWEEN ANAKIN AND VADER
THAT LOOKED SO COOL
AND TERRIFYING
And Jacen. Being able to hear Ahsoka fighting??? AMAZING
The fact that Jacen saved her? I will never get over that.
BUT AHSOKA BEING UPSET THAT ANAKIN IS COMPARING HER TO HIM BECAUSE LOOK HOW HE TURNED OUT AND THEN HER HAVING THE YELLOW EYES??? AHHH
I can’t be 100% sure but I’m pretty sure the way she defeated Anakin is very similar to how she defeated the inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi. I could be reaching tho idk
And I have to mention it. Ahsoka without the headband in live action was a massive jump scare. I made like an actual noise and recoiled a bit lmao 😭😭
But her being like Jacen is here?? And the way he ran up to her and hugged her and she hugged him back you KNOW she’s auntie Ahsoka. She spent enough time around that kid to be that cool aunt that’s also a Jedi.
Her being ohhhh you heard me fighting huh? I know she already knew he was force sensitive (I mean come on he’s Kanans son) it she was like 😏😌😃
ALSO THAT KANAN FULL NAME DROP. I LOVE IT. THANK YOU
So the New Republic is like “yo you did a bad thing we’re coming to pick you up” and Hera’s like “aw shit really?”
Then AHSOKAS like “hey what if we used the thing that Ezra used to get IN THIS SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE” amd Hera’s like “damn u right” so Ahsoka does her Jedi communication thing
AND JUST GOES IN THE MOUTH OF THE SPACE WHALE??? CAUSE WHY NOT I GUESS???
But yea
I love Carson with my whole heart he is everything to me
He’s like “I’m so ducking done with this but I know it’s the right thing so imma lie even tho I might get fired. Cause this new gov is kiiinda bs but it’s still okay. U go Hera u got this and I’ll always back u up” AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT HIM!! I love Ahsoka but he’s #2 especially in this episode
So he’s like “lol look I wasn’t lying”
And I just have one lil question.
What happened to that whole thing where the purrgil were ship destroyers? Like that’s their whole introduction was in Rebels where everyone’s like “These things are dangerous they just wander and destroy ships don’t go near them that’s all they do”
And then Ezra (I think I don’t exactly remember) is like “actually they’re pretty smart. Also they use hidden hyperspace lanes to travel. So they’re actually pretty cool” and THAT was just a thing in like season 2 or something wayyy before the finale.
But now they’re just weaving their way through the ships??
I guess you could argue that Ahsoka was like “hey could you not” and/or the captains were moving the ships around the purrgil but still they’re known to be super destructive even if the ships try to avoid them?
Idk whatever not that important
I CANNOT PHYSICALLY WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK IM SO HYPED THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE BEST EPISODE SO FAR
I can’t wait to get an update on Sabine thooo
WE STILL HAVE 3 EPISODES LEFT THO THEY BETTER NOT DO THE FINALE EPISODE FLOP THAT KEEPS HAPPENING.
I SWEAR.
Anyways overall amazing episode I love seeing Ahsoka and Anakin banter and also fight and Jacen being force sensitive and Huyang and Carson AND HERA OF COURSE!! LOVE HER
Can’t wait for next week aaaaaaa

Summary: The Jedi throw an engagement party that Kanan and Hera in particular find very... engaging
Hera couldn’t believe how fast the next two weeks slipped by. Maybe it was because of all the work that needed to be done in preparation-- many of the guests invited were Imperial, so they had to make sure there were no signs of Mace, Depa and Kanan’s work with the Rebellion. There was also a lot of cleaning, cooking and various preparations to be done in general. Hera and Kanan had their own way to get ready, going over their story repeatedly to make sure they didn’t forget it, memorizing key details and producing answers for any possible questions that could be asked.
Of course, there was also the fact that Hera had started working with the cell on Lothal, alongside Kanan. She was usually the getaway pilot, but she’d gone on a couple of actual ops as well. After the first mission, Kanan relaxed significantly about her being out in the field, although Hera still wasn’t sure why he’d gotten so jumpy. She didn’t have much time to think about it, though.
Most of the guests would be arriving the day of the party, but a few arrived a couple days before. Kanan and Hera went down to meet some of them at the front door, the first of which was a tall Kalleran. The moment the Kalleran spotted Kanan he all but crushed him in a hug. “Kid! Since when are you getting married?”
“Kriff, Kasmir-- can’t breathe-- Kanan gasped.
Releasing him, the Kalleran turned to Hera and gave her a gentlemanly bow. “Janus Kasmir at your service. A pleasure to meet the young woman who caught Kanan’s heart. I have to know everything. How’d you two meet?”
“Believe it or not, it was only a month or two ago,” Hera said, slipping her arm through Kanan’s. “I was having… a little trouble with a street gang, and Kanan stepped in to give me a hand. By which I mean he handled one of them, and I took out the rest.”
“Give me a little credit,” Kanan protested. “I handled at least two.”
“Uh-huh. Sure, dear,” Hera said, unable to prevent the smile crossing her face at Kanan’s fake chagrin.
Chuckling, Kasmir said, “She’s good for you, kid. I like her.”
“Don’t call me kid,” Kanan grumbled. “But I like her, too.”
“I should hope so, you are marrying her,” Kasmir said with a dramatic roll of his eyes. “Excuse me, I’m gonna go say hi to your Jedi mom and your kid who’s cooler than you.”
As the Kalleran strode into the house, Hera turned to Kanan, trying not to laugh. “So, he’s… interesting. I like him, I will say.”
“I can’t imagine why,” Kanan said with some drama, and Hera smirked.
“Well, I kept you around, didn’t I?”
The next guest was an older man, mostly bald with a fringe of white hair, and a white beard. Directing a warm smile at them, he said, “Well, isn’t this a lovely surprise? Two of my favorite people are getting married.”
“What-- Okadiah?” Kanan said, and Hera’s gaze snapped to him.
“Wait, you know Okadiah?”
“YOU know Okadiah?” Kanan countered.
“Indeed,” Okadiah said with a chuckle. “I met Hera when she was just starting out on her own. Gave her a place to stay for a while and helped her on her way.”
“And how did you meet Kanan?” Hera asked curiously.
“It’s a long story,” Kanan cut in hastily. “That we don’t have time for right now. Suffice to say there was a moon that was about to be blown up, actually a few crazy cyborgs, and a couple barroom brawls involved.”
“I’ll regale you with the full tale another time,” Okadiah assured Hera. “In the meantime, let me just say I couldn’t have chosen better for you two if I had chosen myself. I congratulate you both deeply.
“Thanks, Oke,” Kanan said, shooting the older man a smile as he headed inside.
Next, they found themselves facing the third group, which was an eclectic group Hera had not expected-- a Mandalorian woman in green-blue armor, a Mirialan woman with purple skin, curly hair and exceptional fashion, and a human man holding hands with her. In their free hands, both of the latter two carried hefty suitcases, and the Mandalorian was lugging two more.
Grinning, Kanan stepped forward. “Cinya! How are you?”
“Still very willing to punch you out again,” the Mandalorian said tartly.
“But you won’t because he’s only got a week until his big party,” the Mirialan reminded her. Turning to Hera, she smiled warmly. “I’m Hadassah, and this is Lanter.” She nodded at the man next to her, who shot Hera a friendly smile.
“They’re dating,” Cinya said, and Kanan’s eyes lit up.
“About time-- congratulations, you two.”
“Thanks,” Lanter said, grinning. “Congratulations to you-- I can’t believe you’re getting married! Seems like only yesterday Cinya tried to kill you in Hadassah’s juice bar.”
“Good times,” Kanan said remiscently.
“I take it there’s something of a story here,” Hera remarked, and Hadassah laughed.
“You have no idea. Luckily, we'll have plenty of time to tell you. Lanter and I are your stylists for the party.”
“Really?” Kanan said, surprised. “I didn't know Mace and Depa asked you guys to do that.”
“You bet your life, you tall string bean,” Lanter said with a grin. “Lanter and Hadassah are here to save the day.”
Kanan looked at him for a moment, then turned to Cinya. “He watched “The Princess Diaries” on the way here, didn't he?”
Cinya nodded. “Both of them, and he cried twice during the second one.”
“I won't apologize for my love for Clarisse and Joe,” Lanter said dramatically. “They're the ultimate couple goals. Hadassah is my Clarisse.”
“You are so sweet,” Hadassah said, kissing him on the cheek.
Cinya let out a dramatic sigh. "You guys are so ridiculously sappy. Let's get moving.”
The five of them headed into the house and up to a suite that had clearly been prepared for this very reason-- a table was set up with a mirror on it, a swivel chair in front of it. At one end of the room Hera spotted a folding screen set up to change behind.
Lanter and Hadassah instantly started unpacking from their suitcases-- hairbrushes, makeup containers, ear cone pendants, perfumes, and a thousand other things that could be useful. “You… really came prepared,” Hera said, staring as Lanter pulled out a curling iron. “However, I doubt I’m going to need that.”
“Oh, that’s for Dassah,” Lanter assured her. “But if Kanan could just let me do his hair--”
“Absolutely not,” Kanan said immediately. “I already told Sabine she could.”
“But Kanan, I have the perfect--”
“Under no circumstances are you giving me the moose hairdo from “The Princess Diaries”, Lanter.”
Smirking, Lanter said, “But you would be a handsome moose. Make all the girl moose go WHUA!”
Kanan groaned, but Hera couldn’t help but laugh. “I think I’m going to like you,” she told Lanter, who beamed.
“Why thank you, Ms. Syndulla, I like you very much, too!”
Grinning, Hadassah said, “Alright, we have work to do, and I'm sure that you two do, as well. But before you go-- color preferences for your outfits? Keep in mind that they have to be somewhat coordinated.”
“Nah, I trust you not to put me in anything too reprehensible,” Kanan said jokingly.
Rolling her eyes, Hadassah said, “Immeasurably unhelpful. Fine-- I'm thinking of a blue and green color scheme for the two of you. Lanter, what do you think?”
“Perfect,” Lanter immediately agreed. “We'll get to work straight away.”
“And we'll leave you to it,” Hera said. Looping her arm through Kanan's, she tugged him forward, and they headed out.
As they made their way down the hall, Kanan murmured, “Nice job with Kasmir earlier. He can be a little too nosy for his own good.”
“No worries-- he seems nice,” Hera commented. “Very excited about us.”
A slight smile pulled at the corner of Kanan's mouth. “He's an old friend. I'm not surprised he's so excited, frankly. It's kind of who he is.”
Hera nodded without speaking, but felt an internal twinge. Part of her couldn't help but dislike the fact they were deceiving so many people, good people. They didn't deserve to be lied to like this.
And there was also another part of her. A part that found herself noticing Kanan's quiet determination and his kindness around Ezra and the grin he'd give her sometimes-- and she'd be lying if she said she hadn't noticed the fact that she was engaged to an extremely handsome man. There was a part of her that felt a flutter in her chest at his touch.
And that part of her wished that this whole thing wasn't based on a lie.
“Hera?” Kanan's concerned voice broke through her thoughts, and she glanced up to see him frowning at her. “You okay?”
Hera gave her head a quick shake, like the motion would send those thoughts flying. But they’d been there too long for that. “Fine, sorry-- were you saying something?”
A slight furrow in Kanan’s brow hinted that he wasn’t quite satisfied with her response, but all he said was, “I was wondering if you still think your father won’t accept his invitation.”
“Oh.” Hera shook her head. “No, he won’t come. Especially since you’re inviting Imperials to keep our cover. He doesn’t know that-- he’ll probably assume I’m all but colluding with them. So either he won’t come, or I’ll wish he hadn’t.” Releasing a sigh, she said, “I guess I always assumed he and my mother would be here for this.”
Kanan slipped his arm from around hers long enough to catch hold of her hand, and Hera felt her heartbeat stutter as his fingers laced through hers. “I’m sorry,” he said quietly, giving her hand a quick squeeze.
“It’s okay,” Hera told him, returning the gesture. “I may not have my father and mother, but I have you, and everyone else here. And at this point, they feel like family almost more than my father does.”
The smile Kanan gave her was a soft one with that unusual warmth shining around the edges, the light that she saw in his eyes more and more these days. Hera couldn’t bring herself to look away, despite the flush she knew was growing on her cheeks. Time to get out of here, she decided. Before I do something truly stupid.
“I should probably--” she started.
“Do you ever--” Kanan began at the same time. They both stopped short, and Hera laughed, feeling a flash of self-consciousness.
“Sorry, you go ahead,” Kanan said, giving her the crooked grin, the one that was Hera’s favorite. For just a second, her gaze lingered on it, and she found herself wondering what it would be like to close the distance, to drop a kiss against the upturned corner of his mouth--
What are you THINKING, Hera? She scolded herself. You can’t just start thinking about kissing Kanan, not now. Clearing her throat, she said, “I was just going to say that I’d better get going-- plenty to do before our party.”
“Right, yeah,” Kanan said, and was Hera imagining it or was there something a little strained about his voice? “Same here. See you later?”
“Yes-- but didn’t you want to tell me something?” Hera asked.
Kanan opened his mouth to speak, and stopped for a moment. Closing it, he finally shook his head. “Doesn’t matter. I’d better get going.”
Releasing Hera’s hand, he headed off down the hall, leaving Hera staring after him. Well, that was… strange. But she really didn’t have time to spend thinking about why Kanan was acting so strangely.
So of course, over the next three days leading up to their engagement party, that was all she thought about. Especially since Kanan seemed to be avoiding her. He was always out on some sort of business of some kind or in a fitting with Lanter or working to help clean out the ballroom.
And Hera didn’t feel hurt by that. That would be ridiculous. They were both busy, she didn’t exactly have time to spend with him either.
Or maybe she was avoiding him, too. Either way, it didn’t matter. Much.
Alright, it definitely did matter, but some part of Hera didn’t want to bring it up. Maybe she was afraid of the answer, maybe she was afraid she’d lose what she had with Kanan, maybe she was afraid that she was falling in love with a man she wasn’t supposed to technically fall for.
So she kept pushing aside the thoughts, and threw herself into working for the engagement party. And before she knew it, it was the evening of the party, and she was heading up to Hadassah’s suite to get her dress.
The Mirialan was waiting with excitement stamped across her face, and a companion-- Depa Billaba. Throwing her a smile, Depa said, “Don’t mind me, I’m just here to see my future daughter in law get ready. It’s my prerogative.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Hera said, giving Depa a smile and pretending like the “daughter in law” part didn’t throw her for a loop. “Okay-- where’s my dress?”
“Here,” Hadassah said, darting over to the changing screen and pulling a dress on a hanger from behind it. She held it up, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. “What do you think?”
Hera’s eyes widened at the sight-- a sleeveless dress with a high neckline, made of fluttery fabric, the color shading from teal into a deep cobalt blue. It was stunning-- Hera knew just by looking at it that she’d never owned anything so expensive and beautiful in her life, other than the Ghost.
“It’s beautiful,” she breathed, brushing a hand across the smooth cloth. “I-- I don’t know how to thank you.”
“Well, Depa paid us,” Hadassah said with a shrug. “But you can repay us by going out and having a good time with your fiance tonight. Speaking of which, I’d better get going-- Lanter’s waiting for me downstairs.”
Giving them a quick wave, Hadassah slipped out of the room, leaving Hera with Depa. Glancing at the Jedi, Hera said, “Thank you. I don’t know how I can repay you--”
“No repayment necessary,” Depa said firmly. “I’m happy to do it.” As Hera admired the dress for a moment longer, she added, “However, I do have a question for you.”
Hera glanced at Depa curiously, and saw the Jedi wearing a patiently curious expression. “I’ve noticed you and Kanan have been avoiding each other lately. Did something happen?”
“No, I-- we’re not-- what makes you think--” Hera stammered, and Depa held up a hand.
“Hera. I’m not the blind one. You two used to spend every day together, but I haven’t seen you with my apprentice in days. What’s going on?”
Hera bit her lip, her eyes flicking from Depa to the floor and then back again. Part of her felt that saying how she felt out loud would make it far too real. But the sympathy and understanding in Depa’s eyes pulled the words out of her. “I don’t want to avoid him. But things are just… complicated right now.”
Narrowing her eyes, Depa said, “Did he make a move on you?”
“What? No, of course not.” Hera felt herself flush at her next words. “Do you think-- would he-- never mind.”
“Ahhh.” A knowing smile grew on Depa’s face. “I see.”
“See… what?” Frustration boiled through Hera at the almost desperate curiosity in her words. She felt so irritatingly petty about this whole thing.
“That you’re in love with my apprentice,” Depa said matter of factly.
Oh. Oh, dear. But she wasn’t wrong. “I… I didn’t expect this to happen,” Hera said softly. “I had no idea that Kanan would be…” Handsome? Charming? So incredibly caring and kind? The kind of man I could spend my life with?
“I know,” Depa said, her tone soft and sympathetic. “It can’t be easy to be in a relationship without actually being in a relationship. Hera-- if I may give you some advice?”
“Okay,” Hera said hesitantly.
“You don’t seem to be the kind of woman who would give her heart easily. But if Kanan’s the one who’s earned it, don’t give up on that. Both of you deserve better than that.”
“He does, you’re right,” Hera agreed, her voice low. “I just don’t want to ruin what Kanan and I have by--”
“Telling him that you love him?” Depa reached out and touched her hand, her eyes kind. “You don’t have to. But honesty is important in any relationship, whether it’s romantic or not. And will you regret it if you don’t? Just think about it, please.”
“I-- I will,” Hera promised, unsure whether it was fear or determination swelling in her chest. Depa smiled and gave her hand a quick squeeze.
“Good. Now, get dressed. You have a party to get to.”
Half an hour later, Hera was wearing the amazing dress Hadassah had given her, along with a set of silver ear cone pendants set with teal gems and a matching bracelet. She waited by the door of the ballroom for Kanan, who still hadn’t arrived. Is he even coming? She wondered with a flash of worry-- silly worry, really. Kanan wouldn’t just stand her up, and it was his party, too.
Seconds after she thought the words, she heard footsteps behind her, and Kanna’s voice. “Sorry I’m late,” he called. “Ezra needed something before I left.”
“Don’t worry about it--”
Hera’s words stuttered to a halt in her mouth as she stared at Kanan, who gaped right back at her. She usually saw him in his casual every-day wear, or occasionally Jedi robes. What he wore now was nothing like that.
He wore a crisp white shirt with long sleeves and dark trousers. Over the shirt, he had on a navy blue jerkin with teal embroidery that brought out the vibrant color in his eyes. At his hip hung his lightsaber, which Hera had only rarely seen him with.
“Wow,” he breathed as he stared at her. “You’re… wow.”
“You… you look incredible,” Hera managed. And it was the truth. A small smile lifted the corner of Kanan’s mouth.
“Thanks,” he said, closing the distance between them and capturing her hand in his. Hera felt her heart start pounding as he gazed at her, seeming to drink in the sight of her. “But trust me,” he murmured. “No one’s going to be looking at me when you’re standing next to me.”
“I will be.” Hera felt her face warm the minute the words slipped out of her mouth, because it sounded like flirting. It was flirting, she knew. But she really couldn’t help herself, especially with him standing inches away from her, looking at her the way he was.
A crooked grin danced across Kanan’s face. “Really, Captain Syndulla? Flirting at a time like this?”
“Well, it is our engagement party,” Hera pointed out, feeling a ridiculous sense of relief. Kanan was here with her, and even his presence made this whole thing a little easier to deal with. Well, except for the fact that she was incredibly caught off guard by how handsome he looked tonight.
Offering her his arm, Kanan said, “That’s true. And we should probably head in. Are you ready?”
Looping her arm around his, Hera replied, “Not remotely. Let’s do this.”
“That’s the spirit.”
They moved into the ballroom subtly, but somehow everyone noticed them the moment they set foot inside. Hera could feel the eyes on her, and she stiffened, trying not to panic. Kanan’s thumb brushed against her bare upper arm, sending a quick shiver down her spine. “It’s okay,” he said, his voice too low for anyone else to hear. “Take a deep breath. I’m here.”
Somehow, that was more comforting than anything else he could have said. Hera took a quick deep breath as Mace and Depa headed their way. Depa was clad in a lavender dress, while Mace looked majestically elegant in formal Jedi robes, the dark scar across his eyes totally unhidden.
Giving both of them a warm smile, Depa said, “You both look wonderful, although you are a little late.”
“Sorry-- Ezra was trying to convince me to smuggle him cake in my pockets,” Kanan apologized.
“I’m sure that’s what the guests will think happened,” Mace muttered with a small smirk that looked a little too much like his grand Padawan’s.
“Manners, Mace,” Depa said. “And I can’t believe I’m saying that to you instead of the other way around. Okay, here’s what you two need to do-- mingle a little bit, say hello to the guests. Make sure to greet Governor Pryce--”
“Absolutely not,” Kanan said flatly. “She’s the reason Ezra’s parents are--”
“I know that, but we have to be careful, Kanan,” Depa said, her voice firm.
“What-- Pryce isn’t some invincible succubus,” Kanan protested. “She’s a regular succubus, who can be defeated.”
Releasing a sigh, Depa turned to Hera. “When Pryce comes over-- she’s the one with the short black hair, Imperial uniform--”
“Don’t look straight into her eyes, though,” Kanan muttered.
“Why, because she’ll turn you to stone?” Mace asked.
“No, because her eyes are ugly.”
Letting out a sigh, Depa said, “Perhaps it’s better if Hera does the talking.”
“Perhaps,” Hera agreed.
“Fine,” Kanan said, not looking upset. “Anything else?”
Nodding, Depa said, “Yes. Actually try to have a good time. And don’t forget to have at least one dance.”
“Finally, something I can get behind,” Kanan said with a grin, and Hera was suddenly very aware of how close they were standing, of his arm brushing against hers.
She saw a slight smile flicker across Depa's face, but all the Jedi said was, “Have fun, you two.”
Turning, she led Mace away as the music began and a few couples started to move out onto the dance floor. One in particular caught Hera’s eye--- a man with dark hair and a scar across one eye, dressed in all black, including a long black coat embroidered in gold. At his side was a slight woman, her long curly hair hanging loose and free. She was dressed in a floor length golden silk gown, with a decorative aqua panel along the bodice and a matching sash. Slim straps hung the gown from her shoulders, which were bare except for a gauzy aqua veil that was clasped to her wrists with cuffs made of the same golden silk.
“Is that Senator Amidala?” she asked Kanan quietly.
“Yeah-- as it turns out, giant engagement parties are a really good way to get your Rebellion contacts in close proximity so you can exchange information. There’ll probably be a meeting tonight with some of the leaders-- including them.”
Hera followed Kanan’s discreet nod to a dark haired woman wearing dark blue, dancing with a man in a matching cape who Hera suddenly recognized. “Wait-- Senator Organa’s here, too?”
Nodding, Kann said, “As is Senator Mothma, the Duchess of Mandalore, and about a dozen others. The Jedi aren’t submitting. We’re just waiting for the right moment to strike.” Flashing her a teasing grin, he added, “And to think, you thought we were just sitting around letting the Empire walk all over us.”
“Well, you were acting that way very convincingly,” Hera pointed out.
“Glad to hear it.”
Spotting a tall woman in Imperial greys making her way through the crowd towards them. Hera muttered, “I think I spotted your friend, Governor Pryce.”
“What? Kriff.” Kanan grimaced. “Time to pretend to be polite.”
“Unless you didn’t see her, and you had something else very pressing to address,” Hera pointed out. “After all, you do owe me at least one dance. Probably more.”
A grin slowly crossed Kanan’s face. “I do, don’t I?” Giving her a bow, he offered her a hand. “Will you dance, Captain Hera?”
Placing her hand in his, Hera said, “With you, I will.”
The two of them moved out onto the dance floor together. The music in the background was sweet and elegant, and she had an excellent partner. True to form, Kanan’s movements were smooth and graceful. “You dance better than I expected,” Hera observed.
“I’ve been practicing,” Kanan admitted with that crooked grin of his. “Didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of my fiancee, after all. Spin.”
Hera obligingly twirled away from Kanan, her hand still locked securely in his. With a gentle tug, Kanan brought her back to him, his arm slipping back around her waist. Hera felt her breath catch as she met his eyes, and was suddenly very aware of the space between them. She was close enough she could sense the warmth of Kanan’s skin, and the look in his eyes as he gazed at her sent a flutter through her stomach.
“You’re staring, dear,” she told him in a soft undertone.
“Is it that obvious?” he asked, his voice equally low.
Lifting an eyebrow, Hera said, “I mean. A little.”
A small wince crossed Kanan’s face. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable.”
“Uncomfortable isn’t the word I’d use,” Hera replied, and something flickered in Kanan’s eyes.
“Then… what would you call it?” he asked, his low baritone holding a soft question beyond his words.
“Cherished.”
The word slipped out before Hera could help it. But it was true. No one had ever looked at her the way Kanan had, the way he was looking at her now. Not like she was an object or a price on the slave market. Like she was something truly priceless.
Kanan’s eyes widened, and he started to speak. But before he could, a voice caught their attention. “Kanan! Mind if I have a word?”
Hera glanced towards the sound, catching sight of Anakin Skywalker heading towards them, a bearded man at his side who Hera realized must be Obi-Wan Kenobi. He shot Hera a look that could only be translated as “I am so sorry for this” as Anakin paused next to them.
“It’s important,” he told Kanan as he and Hera came to a halt.
“Of course,” Kanan said, releasing Hera and stepping away from her. Hera thought she saw a flash of reluctance in his eyes, but if it was there, he masked it well. Glancing at her, he said, “I’m sorry--”
“It’s fine, love,” Hera told him, forcing a smile. “I’ll leave you to it.”
She slipped away from the three of them and headed into the crowd, feeling Kanan’s eyes follow her as she walked. But it wasn’t long before she was out of their sight.
At the far end of the ballroom, there was a door that led out onto a balcony overlooking the Lothal prairie beyond the house. Hera made her way there, and slipped outside.
The cool night breeze was a relief after the nearly stifling warmth of the ballroom-- although not all of it was from the amount of people in there, Hera knew. She felt heat sweep over her again as her mind wandered back to dancing with Kanan, the warmth of his skin seeping through her dress.
Taking a quick breath, Hera pressed her hands against the cold stone of the balcony railing and stared out at Lothal’s moons shimmering amongst the stars above them. Two out of the three were full, just like the night when she’d first met Kanan. She never would have thought that evening that all of this would come about, that she would end up engaged to a man she’d just met.
That she would end up falling in love with him.
Hera pressed her eyes shut, taking a shaky breath. Force. She wasn’t even sure if he felt the same way. But that didn’t exactly stop her from thinking about Kanan, from wanting to be near him, from wondering what it would be like to kiss him.
“Hera?”
Kanan’s voice came from directly behind her, low and warm. Hera took in a quick breath, then turned to face him. The light from the doorway illuminated him from behind, the shadows obscuring his expression.
“Depa said she saw you heading this way,” he said, moving up next to her. “Mind if I join you?”
“Not at all,” Hera said, and Kanan settled beside her, resting his forearms on the balcony railing.
“Sorry we got interrupted earlier,” he said, flicking a quick glance her way. “Apparently, Skywalker’s daughter had collected some important intel he wanted to share as soon as possible.”
“It’s fine, love,” Hera said. “I understand.”
She sensed Kanan stiffen next to her, and frowned. What did I-- oh.
“You called me love,” he said, his voice soft.
“I-- yeah, I did,” Hera said, feeling herself flushing. Of course this would be how it came out. She was trying to think of what to say next when Kanan spoke.
“Do you ever wish this was real?”
Hera froze, her brain going blank. All she could manage to say was, “What?”
“This whole thing, this engagement. Do you ever wish it was real? Because I-- I can’t lie to you, Hera.” Kanan turned towards her, and Hera felt her heart stutter against her breastbone as he met her gaze. “I do,” he said. “I’m sorry--”
“Don’t be.” The words slipped out of Hera’s mouth, but she didn’t even try to take them back. She couldn’t, not with the way Kanan was looking at her now, his eyes wide but full of something that made Hera flush.
“Hera,” he whispered. “I would never, ever do anything to push past your boundaries.”
“I know,” Hera said, her gaze locked on Kanan’s face and her heartbeat steadily rising as she watched him.
“But I really, really want to kiss you right now.” Kanan paused, his eyes lingering on her, then stepped a little closer. “Can I…?”
Hera closed the distance between them without hesitation. Her lips met his, and Hera was nearly swept off her feet by the dizzy array of emotions washing over her. A strong arm slipping around her waist steadied her as Kanan kissed her back, gently drawing her close.
They broke apart a few moments later, and Hera took a quick breath in. “Force, Kanan.”
“Can you tell I’ve been waiting a while to do that?” Kanan asked, his voice amused.
“Maybe a little,” Hera said, letting her forehead rest against his. “I-- how does this even happen? Who could have seen this coming?”
Kanan paused, then let out a soft chuckle that Hera more felt that heard. “Uh. Possibly Mace.”
“What??” Hera pulled back enough to see his face. “What are you talking about?”
“The first day you were here, he told me the Force led him to you, and it wanted you here,” Kanan said. “I didn’t know why at the time, but he seemed pretty confident.”
“And you think the Force wanted us together?” Hera said, lifting an eyebrow. “The mystical Force that binds the whole galaxy together could not possibly be invested in our relationship.”
“Well, you never know,” Kanan said, giving her a cocky smirk. “We are pretty amazing.”
“You are a pain, dear,” Hera said with a roll of her eyes.
“Lucky for you I’m your pain,” Kanan said. Pausing, he asked, “Will you call me love again?”
“Kiss me, love,” Hera said, and Kanan happily obliged.

I got a couple of different asks about Luke and Ahsoka in other side AU 10, so I guess I will just make it a regular post after all so I can answer all of them at once.
@slecnaztemnot:
Okay i just read your latest other side chapter and I wanted to ask about Ahsoka and Luke dynamics. I wonder what exactly where their heretics disagreemts about the jedi doctrine? while i can guess some of the stuff like attachements i guess i mostly see ahsoka as nonjedi and therefore someone who should not be attached to doctrine about attachements (haha) so i am wondering how you see her. i would actually love your take on how their first meetings went. continued in next ask, 1/2
1/2 continuation since most people write them as Ashoka immediately spilling the beans about the whole Vader situation to Luke and yours Ahsoka didn't. So I am curious what do you think Ahsoka feels about it. I got of course lot of it from the fic itself so i am mostly asking about how did you base your interpretation, if that makes sense and what led you to the narrative choices to portray their relationship in such way.
@comentter:
I'm most interested in what Luke and Ahsoka know about each other. Luke doesn't know much about Ahsoka obviously, but does he have any idea why she seems to hate him? He must be desperate lol. And how much does Ahsoka know about what happened on the DS2? And how much does Kanan know about these events? What was Hera able to tell him and what else did Luke and Ahsoka tell him? I always figure that everyone but Luke and a few people he told (like Leia) think the Emperor and Vader from the DS2 explosion.
I now have this image in my head of Ahsoka spending time with Rex and her laughing as Rex does something like tell a joke or a specific gesture. Then Luke walks by, does the exact same thing and Ahsoka is like "Of course, you'd do this stupid thing, you idiot!" :D
I think shortly before I started writing this sequence I had seen some cute art of Luke and Ahsoka hugging, which is a pretty common art trope and which has never sat quite right with me.  I also have the tendency to want to do the opposite of common fanon, which I can’t leave out either.  I also wanted to logic out what the hell was going on with Ahsoka’s charaterization in her Mando episode on a Watsonian level rather than a Doylist one (which I did a few weeks ago), even if other side takes place well before Mando and doesn’t intersect with it in any meaningful way.
When it came to the Luke and Ahsoka relationship (or lack thereof), it came down to three questions for me:
Who knows what?
What do they know?
When do they know it?
I made the decision early on in the chapter to leave Leia out of this relationship entirely, since the new canon seems to at this point in time (within a year of RotJ) be keeping it relatively quiet that she and Luke are siblings, and it’s not something that Hera would have a reason to know.  (Note also that this entire sequence is told from Hera’s POV, which plays into the “who knows what when” angle.)
As per Rebels S4 (not the epilogue, because Mando’s thrown that out the window), Ahsoka knows (or has good reason to believe) the following:
Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader, Sith Lord
Darth Vader was directly or indirectly responsible for the genocide of the Jedi Order and the deaths of any Jedi who survived the Purge (”you and your Inquisitors saw to that”)
Padme Amidala is dead
Obi-Wan Kenobi is dead (Obi-Wan was not dead, but she has no way to know this)
no Darksider can return to the Light side
At the end of RotJ (not taking into account anything that happened in the comics or ancillary novels, which I’m not up to date on), Luke knows (or has good reason to believe) the following:
Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker
everyone Anakin ever knew is dead, mostly because of him
Vader returned to being Anakin Skywalker at the end of his life
(Leia presumably also knows all of this, perhaps with a few more details based on things her parents might have told her, but her feelings about Darth Vader are: Bad, Do Not Want, to be glib about it.)
Now, there’s one other factor here, which is Rex.  Rex knew Anakin and knew Ahsoka and was in the Rebel Alliance -- we know that he was on Yavin IV prior to Luke’s arrival and we know that he fought in the Battle of Endor. (And turns up in a couple of scattered art panels from the comics.)  If we want to take his brief appearance in Galaxy of Adventures with Han Solo’s strike force as canon, then he may have also known Han and probably Luke -- certainly his ears would have pricked up at the name “Skywalker.”  (Okay, there’s one other factor, which is R2-D2, but Artoo never tells anyone anything despite knowing...everything. Or most things, anyway.)  Rex doesn’t seem to know that Anakin became Darth Vader (I believe there’s an interview somewhere where Dave or Pablo or someone says that a meeting between Rex and Vader would be “awkward,” but there’s no canonical reason to believe that he knew about the Anakin/Vader connection), but he probably found out at some point that the 501st was the battalion involved in the assault on the Jedi Temple.  He also, as of Rebels S3-4, assumes that Vader killed Ahsoka -- presumably Ezra would have told him as much as he could.  (And Ezra does know that Vader is Anakin, so he may have told Rex that as well.)  Rex also knows that Anakin Skywalker was having an affair with Padme Amidala, but presumably didn’t know about (a) the marriage or (b) the pregnancy, because how would he know?
Then we come to Ahsoka’s return and unfortunately the current canon gives us no time point for when it actually happened: presumably Ahsoka did not or could not return to the greater galaxy at the point she “left”, during the fight on Malachor (3 BBY), because as of Rebels S3-4 everyone still believes she’s dead.  Maybe she’s still stuck on Malachor without a way to get off, who knows; maybe after S4 Ezra grabbed her into the World Between Worlds she decided to stay on Malachor until she ~caught up with the main timeline, which...you then have to believe that Ahsoka is going to deliberately remove herself from the war, which I can get to, but is not something I’m totally comfortable with.  Or she pops out in the timeline at the same time that Ezra returns to the main timeline and is able to more or less immediately return to the main timeline narrative, plus or minus a few weeks.  (There are, after all, still a couple of Advanced TIE fighters parked in the Sith temple, even if they were potentially damaged in the temple collapse.  Ahsoka could have repaired them or used the comms systems to call for a pick-up -- this is, btw, what happens in Crown.)  We don’t know when the S2 finale scene/S4 WBW scene of Ahsoka walking back into the temple actually takes place in the timeline; it doesn’t have to be at the exact same time as the rest of the S2 finale sequence (since obvs Vader dragging himself out, Maul flying off, and the Rebels crew looking sad doesn’t all take place at the exact same time).
Other side AU is deliberately vague about when Ahsoka returns from the World Between Worlds/Malachor/to the Rebel Alliance; it’s not stated in the story, but I made the assumption that she came back shortly after the (non-epilogue) end of the Rebels finale, but was still deeply messed up from her Malachor revelations.  (Also, like, Sidious, I guess, but she was probably so messed up about Anakin/Vader that Sidious being around barely registered.)  Since she never seems to have held a formal position in the Rebel Alliance, I assumed that after she returned and let everyone know she was still alive, she then immediately took off to try and figure out what the hell happened with Anakin at the end of the Clone Wars, since she saw him like a week before he snapped and at the time he seemed fine.
The problem is that almost everyone involved is dead.
Now, at this point (shortly before Scarif and ANH), a few people are still alive who then die shortly, but whom Ahsoka may have no reason to believe were involved.  Bail Organa, for example, is still around, but aside from him being Padme’s friend Ahsoka doesn’t have a reason to know that Bail was there when Padme died -- and since they were in contact for the nineteen years preceding there’s no reason for her to assume now that he was keeping something for her.  Back in the comics (before I stopped reading them), Vader did some digging to figure out what was going on with Padme and his child; Ahsoka probably would have done the same digging (without having to torture anyone), but without necessarily knowing that Padme was pregnant.  Knowing the date of Padme’s death (same as the Republic, essentially), she may have had a previous assumption that Padme was assassinated on Palpatine’s orders, but knowing that Vader is Anakin probably moves that assumption closer to the truth, that Anakin was somehow involved in Padme’s death one way or another.  Sooner or later Ahsoka will turn up the fact that Padme was pregnant, come to the obvious conclusion that Anakin was the father, and possibly find out the same thing that Vader does in the comics -- that the child was born before Padme died.  (But also probably not that Padme was carrying twins, but even if she found that out, it wouldn’t make a difference.)
While Ahsoka is doing her digging (and there really isn’t much information out there to find), the events of Rogue One and ANH happen, and Ahsoka comes back to the Rebel Alliance to find out which of her friends are still alive.  (Maybe Rex is with her at this point, who knows.)
Everyone in the Rebel Alliance is talking about some young hotshot named Luke Skywalker.
Luke Skywalker who has a very familiar lightsaber, who claims his father was Anakin Skywalker, and who had some kind of relationship with Obi-Wan Kenobi, who turned up on the Death Star, fought Darth Vader, and died.
Ahsoka has just spent the past few months trying to figure out what happened with Anakin, and as best she can reassemble the facts it mostly comes down to “Anakin did something dumb for Padme, that something dumb was ‘turn to the Dark Side and kill literally everyone,’ and then Padme died, the Republic was overturned, and the Jedi Order was wiped out.”  Ahsoka presumably walks into a room, hears the name Luke Skywalker -- maybe sees him -- and is all at once face to face with the living evidence of just how badly Anakin fucked up.
This is just too much for Ahsoka to deal with at the moment, so she takes off again, and spends the next five years brushing in and out of the Rebel Alliance doing odd missions that can really only be done by a trained Force-user.  Rex, who seems to have a more stable position in the Alliance, is always going to side with Ahsoka over anyone else; if she tells him not to tell Luke that she knew Anakin, he won’t.  (And for that matter, he may have somewhat fraught feelings about Luke himself.)  She may have the odd interaction with Luke -- who has heard that there’s another Jedi in the Alliance and wants to be friends/get real training -- but Ahsoka just does not want any part of this. It’s irrational! She knows it’s irrational! But this is the living evidence of Anakin’s failure, Anakin who last she saw him TRIED TO KILL HER, who was at least partially responsible for the deaths of everyone she ever knew.  (And honestly, finding out that Vader topped it all off by killing Obi-Wan is not going to help.)
Ahsoka may also be feeling a certain amount of survivor’s guilt: if Ezra had not pulled her out of the Malachor temple at that exact moment, she came pretty close to bringing the temple down on both herself and Vader, and may have succeeded in killing him.  She did not do so, and who knows how many people died because of that in the years between Malachor and Yavin?  (Just because Tarkin was the one who gave the order doesn’t mean that Ahsoka may at least partially blame Alderaan’s destruction on Vader, if she knew he was on the Death Star then.) She knows he killed Obi-Wan.
The Yoda lineage is very good at going “yikes, I am going off to live alone and beat myself up over my failure for years” and Ahsoka is very much an example of that lineage.
She and Luke have a relationship of “Hi, I’m Luke Skywalker, do you want to talk?” and “I have to leave immediately,” maybe with the odd “please stop using that lightsaber grip it is physically painful for me to watch, do it like this instead, okay, bye.”  Luke probably told all of two other people about what happened with Vader on the Death Star, Leia and Han; he has no reason to tell anyone else about it because it won’t matter to them.  Why would he tell Ahsoka, whom he has no relationship with?  He doesn’t know that Ahsoka knew Anakin Skywalker and would only know if one of four people told him: Ahsoka herself (no), Rex (no), R2-D2 (maybe), or Admiral Ackbar (would never have occurred to Luke to ask, might have occurred to Ackbar to say).  (We also don’t know that Mon Mothma knew Ahsoka very well, or at all, for that matter; they never interacted in TCW.)
As for her swinging harder into overt Jedi-ness by Mando after her blatant “I am no Jedi” of Rebels, it reads to me as a response to the Anakin/Vader revelation (especially the attachment thing).  She had made certain assumptions in the TCW period (see her saving Rex in the TCW finale) and prior to Rebels; Kanan’s method of Jediness was something she could accept in the time period and in those circumstances; the Anakin/Vader revelation shattered all of that, followed immediately as it was by Kanan apparently going full Jedi self-sacrifice despite his attachments.  (Her reaction to Ezra being a trauma response about two very different circumstances.)  All of a sudden what she thought might have been mutable based on the circumstances became something that had to be adhered to in case of dangerous results, which she had just had brought home to her in extremely bad circumstances.
I made a crack somewhere about Mando’s central tension being between “being Mandalorian” and “being doing Mandalorianness”; I think in the post-OT period with Ahsoka and Luke we’re seeing something similar with “being Jedi” and “being doing Jediness.”  Even if Ahsoka isn’t actively claiming the title Jedi anymore (because what does that accomplish in most contexts?), she’s leaning far more into the tenets of the Jedi Order -- which Luke doesn’t know and doesn’t know he doesn’t know.
Thus the doctrinal dispute.
Ahsoka grew up in the Jedi Order.  That’s what she knows, that’s how she knows how to be a Jedi; for her being a Jedi is being part of the Jedi Order, whether or not the actions associated with performing Jediness are being actively practiced.  Luke doesn’t have that context.  For Luke, being a Jedi is...being doing Jediness.  (This is super awkward phrasing.)  Performing the actions of a Jedi.  Luke has a few holocrons, but I’m guessing that a lot of what is on those holocrons makes the assumption that whoever is opening with them has the context of being a part of the Jedi Order and doesn’t explain really basic stuff about the Order or what that means.  Luke’s Jedi Order is not going to be the Republic Jedi Order made anew; it’s going to be something that has a resemblance to it and is based on a similar view of the Force, even arguably its heir, but is just not going to be the same thing.  It can’t be.  Luke doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.
Kanan, of course, is coming into all of this from a similar context as Ahsoka: he grew up in the Jedi Order, it’s what he knows, it’s who he is.  Except Kanan never walked away from the Order, so while Ahsoka had been disconnected from her Jediness at the time of the Purge, he never lost his -- part of Ahsoka’s tension from TCW S7-Rebels was “I can’t be a Jedi because the Order is gone” and Kanan’s was “can I be a Jedi without the Jedi Order?”  (Ezra is a whole ‘nother thing but is somewhat outside the scope of this.)  The Jedi Order never factors in Luke’s Jediness at all.  (There’s some lineage doctrinal dispute here as well -- the Yoda lineage seems to be very closely connected to the Order as the font of Jediness, the Windu-Billaba lineage somewhat less so.  The Yoda lineage is like...the hardcore conservatives of the Jedi Order, though, and are probably not typical.)
Poor Kanan came back from the dead, after a week in another universe (which had its own problems; he’s been trying to very gently convince his counterpart that even after being an Inquisitor for months he can still be a Jedi), into Luke trying to build a new Jedi Order from scratch, Ahsoka firmly believing it couldn’t and shouldn’t be done and not wanting to be in the same room as Luke at all (not to mention that she really did not believe that they should have gone for “hey, let’s send Hera Syndulla to another universe” as even being an option), and both of them having essentially incompatible notions of being a Jedi at each other -- this is probably the most time Luke and Ahsoka ever spent in each other’s presence.  They’ve probably never articulated their problems at each other, just assumed that the other knew them.  And Kanan has his own “how to be a Jedi” approach, which is from a very different than either Ahsoka or Luke because despite originating from the same context as Ahsoka, he had a very different path to get to his present position.
As for what Kanan knows -- uh, pretty much only what Hera knew, and Hera knew very little?  She was friendly with Luke and Leia, but didn’t have much interaction with them -- she states that she had a tendency to avoid Luke because even if she would never say it to Luke’s face, she silently believes that if any Jedi should have been in the Rebel Alliance, it should have been Kanan and Ezra and not this relative newcomer.  If the Death Star 2 news about Vader and Palps was never common knowledge, then Hera wouldn’t have known it.  Kanan’s in a position of having to play catch-up, but also having a completely different priority (finding Ezra).  He sat through this meeting where after they’d finished grilling him on “you were in ANOTHER UNIVERSE and also you CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD?” they politely sniped at each other with a bunch of context he didn’t have and flat out decided that wow, he did not want to deal with this at all, whatsoever.
(This is also not stated in the story, but Luke and Ahsoka also disagreed about whether Jacen should be trained or not: Luke said, yeah, of course, when he’s a little older! and Ahsoka said nope, he’ll be fine, it will go away. Hera was just very “...I will deal with this later” about it since it wasn’t an urgent issue.)

Okay so. Long rant/rambling about TRoS. Spoilers below, you’ve been warned. Posting this on a side blog and reblogging it so it won’t be “uncut” on mobile dashes.
The first... Fifteen minutes of ROS was... Too fast. There was a LOT going on that had no explanation.
Light speed skipping. That made no sense and was a little over the top. An icy outpost with contacts with no names getting information through unmentioned communication lines. Conversation with this Unnamed character that insinuated he was important, especially since we later see his HEAD in Kylo's grasp. Or was it a Knight of Ren, idk bc things went that fast.
LOVED the interaction between Rey Finn and Poe. They argued like a married trio though the whole movie and it was amazing. There was also a LOT of jealousy from Poe every time Finn tried mentioning his feelings for Rey. (Seriously, Poe was more concerned about cosmetic damage to BB8 than he was about the Falcon LITERALLY BEING ON FIRE and I just. Oh, Poe.) The group hug at the end just sealed the OT3 for me, end of story.
There was Force healing and I was excited to see that. Then... It got overused to the point of being a deus ex machina.
The Unknown Regions were mentioned and the path to the Sith world was full of solar storms and black holes and electrical flares and there was no mention of how canonly, that path was mapped by Thrawn, but OKAY,THAT'S FINE.
I was honestly scared to death when Hux was all "I'm the mole," because I was afraid they were making him run like a coward, but no, thankfully, he was being a Petty shit trying to sabotage Ren which is so ic for him.
His death, just a point blank, off handed shot to the chest and him sprawling on the deck of the Finaliser and being completely shrugged off was.... Disappointing. Very disappointing. His character had been played up as this ruthless, cruel and calculating battle tactician and he was made a joke in tlj and RoS. He was a fascist asshole and despite what people say, it wasn't Kylo who destroyed worlds and killed all those people, it was Hux, and it completely undermined how dangerous people like him ARE and I felt his death should have had more substance to address what he'd done and who he was.
He's a villain, a war criminal, and he should have had more weight, been held accountable, idk, it was just utterly dismissive and HONESTLY I feel bad for Domnhall. Now I know why he didn't want to do any press at all about RoS. You could tell he really enjoyed playing Hux in TFA and I bet that kind of stung.
ANYWAY.
Leia’s death just... it felt detached? There was little to no build up to her death, and then she was just... gone. It didn’t really affect me until I saw Chewie’s reaction, and then it felt like I’d been punched in the GUT and couldn’t breathe for a hot minute.
Was REALLY amused Rey just took Kylo’s ship and bailed. “Thanks for the battle, taking your shit and leaving you here.”
When I heard Han say “Hey kid,” I felt my heart break a little bit, and that moment of Kylo saying the same line to Han- and ACTUALLY THROWING HIS SABER AWAY....
Which brings me to Daisy and Adam’s acting????? JUST?????
The DIFFERENCE in their faces when playing Rey Palpatine/Kylo Ren, and Just Rey/Ben Solo was INCREDIBLE. Their posture, their expressions, the set of their faces, the way they held themselves, was AMAZING. Daisy’s face went so HARD and COLD like a diamond, and Adam’s went so SOFT and OPEN and it was INCREDIBLE, AUGH
I am mad Rose was sidegated. Mad that there wasn’t more to Jannah. Mad that there wasn’t more of the Ghost or even a VOICE cameo of Hera.
LUKE LIFTING THE XWING OUT OF THE WATER MADE ME CRY.
I AM SO MAD AND UPSET OVER SNAP’S DEATH. WEDGE WAS THERE, MY FLYBOY WAS THERE AND HE HEARD HIS STEPSON DIE OVER THE COMMS AND I CANNOT FATHOM WHAT THAT MUST HAVE DONE TO HIM AND I AM STILL UPSET OVER IT.
Force Sensitive Finn. I love it, I knew it, so happy it’s canon, now I need a million fics of Rey helping him train and building a lightsaber with him.
I am not even touching the fuckery that was Sheev having a secret love child because the connotations are not pleasant.
I don’t understand why he didn’t possess Rey after she killed him, maybe it was because she had a Mass Cameo Moment with All the Jedi and reflected his lightning back him and made his powers Null and Void?
The lightning was cool af, even if it was More Extra than Necessary.
The Snoke Jar didn’t explain what Snoke was, who the template was- was it Sheev? Was it a random person? Hell, it could have been Ezra for all we know. It also didn’t explain why he was so easy for Kylo to kill.
Also, how did Hux keep hiding shit from Kylo? How did Kylo hide his plans from Sheev? Why is it the mind reading is very situational? I get Kylo maybe being able to shield his thoughts, but Hux? For three movies straight? And only his Petty Ass Behaviour getting him caught by Pryde and not Kylo? JJ/RIAN EXPLAIN.
The Star Destroyers/Sith Destroyers were pornographic. I said it. The scene with the fleet rising gave me a boner, y’all know I have a Thing for Star Destroyers, and there was a whole gorram ATMOSPHERE FULL OF THEM.
WHICH BRINGS ME TO A HAPPY POINT.
FINALLY. FINALLY. SHIP PHYSICS WERE ACCOUNTED FOR IN THIS MOVIE.
Ren brings the Finaliser into atmo and there are effects felt on the ground from the ship. The Falcon gets too close to the Finaliser and it affects the troopers in the hangar bay.
THE STAR DESTROYERS WERE AFFECTED BY BEING IN ATMO AND NEEDED TIME TO BRING UP THEIR SHIELDS.
I SORT of was all “...what” at their lack of navigation, but THEN AGAIN- when your viewport is full of nothing but the ships above, beside, in front and behind you, yeah, you need some synchronised navigation going on from a command ship.
(Am I STILL mad about the Star Destroyer above a city having no effect, but a Lambda taking off shot people all over the walkways in Rogue One? YES, YES I AM, ROGUE ONE SAID “FUCK SHIP PHYSICS, WE DO WHAT WE WANT, INCLUDING JUMPING TO HYPERSPACE WHILE STILL IN ATMO, LET ALONE THE GRAV SHADOW OF A PLANET” AUGH FUCK YOU)
The line “That’s not a Navy, that’s people.” So good. So. GOOD.
The scene with The Not Navy- GOOD. SO GOOD. (Though it’s like... how did Lando get ALL THOSE PEOPLE when LEIA didn’t?? RUDE)
BEN SHOOTING HIS BLASTER BLINDLY BEHIND HIM LIKE HAN MADE ME SQUEAK, I NEEDED THAT AND NOW I JUST WANT A MILLION AU FICS OF BEN AS A FORCE SENSITIVE SMUGGLER AUGH.
The Rey/Ben(Kylo? I think he was Ben at this point?) kiss was uh. I didn’t like it. And not because I don’t ship Reylo? (Because I HONESTLY do NOT mind Rey/Ben Solo- it’s Rey/Kylo Ren that I’m eeeeehhh about) but because it was generally just... awkward and Ben just “Aight, I’ma fade out” right after just made it more awkward??? IDEK.
All in all, I didn’t think it was BAD. It was an okay Star Wars movie. It is NOT my favourite- but it was not BAD.
It just felt like it was rushed, that some crucial content was cut in order to keep the plot goingandgoingcan’tstopgoing, and it honestly felt like the three movies was a passive aggressive pissing match between JJ and Rian.
LOT of amazing parts, a LOT of wtf parts, a LOT of disjointed plot points. Enjoyed it, but much could be done/handled better to have made it a more poignant ending to the saga.

Skywalker twins meet their clan!
Based off of @prankprincess123 au prompts and @eyeloch native Lothalian au. Don't know why but I want to combine the two ideas. Hope this pleases you.
The twins meet their youngling clan -including Galen Marek, Ezra Bridger and Mara Jade - for the first time.
A Galaxy reunited. Chancellor Palpatine has been exposed as the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, he flees to wild space with his follwers in tow. Palpatine’s conspiracy reveled thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of Padawans Ahsoka Tano, Barriss Offee and Caleb Dume. With Bail Organa as Chancellor and Padme Amidala as Vice Chair many have joined or rejoined the republic. With Mace Windu stepping down from his postion as Master of The Order and giving the position to his former Padawan Depa Billaba in hopes she will help the mass reformation succeed caused by her Padawan Caleb Dume. Now in the court yard of the Coruscant Temple Anakin Skywalker and his wife Padme Amidala walk with many other parents and guardians delivering their children to their clans.
The halls of the Jedi temple were bustling with activity. Returning students bid their families farewell as they start a new year of lessons while the families of new initiates were being led by Padawans. Families that have Jedi in them like the Mareks, Skywalkers and Koons need no assistance finding their ways.
“How many people are we sharing a room with?” “Will  their be any girls my age?” “Will they be all human or other species?”
Little Leia and Luke excitedly bombard their father Anakin with as many questions they can think of. Padme chuckled at her husband’s look over the multiple questions.
“My Sweets, one at a time. Let your Father process them first.” Her children looked at sheepishly. “It’s okay Padme. Luke and Leia are just very excited.” “Yeah Mama, Luke and I are gonna be Jedi like Daddy!” “Where going to be the greatest Jedi ever!” The two seven year olds cheered.
“Skywalker!“ Anakin turned from his family to the source of the voice, recognizing his fellow knight. “Marek!”
Kento Marek and his son Galen approached the Skywalkers with two other families in tow. Anakin and Padme greeted their friend. “Galen!” The twins cheered seeing their friend. “Luke! Leia! I want you me my new friends and our clans mate.”  “I'm Mara Jade.” “Hello I'm Jai Kell.” The red headed girl and rusty hair boy greeted.
The adults chuckled at the chattering children as they try to usher the children to their clans quarters. “Knight Marek aren't we supposed to have one more student with us?” Mr. Jade inquired. “Oh yes were going to meet him with Padawan Dume.”
“Is Padawan Dume his older brother?” Mrs. Jade asked. “No, Padawan Dume is Ezra Bridger’s future master. They have a special connection called a Force Bond.” Kento explained
“I’m afraid Ezra is one of the many orphans of war. Him also being a hybrid of a rare, nearly extinct species with a wide array of health concerns that come from being a hybrid is in the Jedi custody.” Padme supplied.
“Please Caleb No!” “Speak of the Hutt.” Anakin Joked.
The group came upon a nerf tailed young man with stubble holding a small boy with stripes and tiny spots . A green Twi’lek with tattooed lekku wearing a flight academy uniform helping her companion calm the child.
“Hera don't let Caleb leave me here!” Ezra cried. “Little love, Caleb and I have classes. So do you.” “Yeah Ezra, you get to make new friends and learn new things. You’ll have lots of fun.” Ezra’s only response was to whimper and bury is snot covered face in the crook of Caleb’s neck. Hera snorted at her boyfriends grimacing face.
“Padawan Dume. Lady Syndulla. Its nice to see you two again.”  Hera’s lekku twitched in agitation over noble rank being used. “Vice Chair Amidala, its nice to see you too but I'm actually going by Cadet Syndulla.”  She replied icily. “I’m sorry, its just your father seemed to be agai-” “Senator Syndulla does not dictate every aspect of my life Vice Chair!” Hera venomously retorted. Caleb and the other members of the group rubbed their necks or coughed nervously.
“Riiiiiiggghhhht. Right. Um Ezra look one of your crèche mates are from Lothal too.” Caleb tried to Lessing the tension in the air. Ezra brought his head up from Caleb’s neck to see.
“Do you want to come down and say hi to the others?” Ms. Kell offered him. Ezra finally decided to come down an introduced himself to the group. Leia and Mara grabbed Ezra’s hands and dragged him to the other children.
The adults and two teens managed to herd the children to the crèche master of clan wolf. “Welcome younglings to Clan Wolf, for the rest of the week we will be introducing and getting to know one another. Then we will begin your training.” The elderly master addressed everyone. After a brief meeting on the odds and ends, parents said their goodbyes and hugged their children.
“Be a good girl Mara and don't forget to leave us messages.” “The apartment will be lonely with out you my Sweets.” “I’ll see you again on vistior day Jai.” “Your mother will be back from her mission soon Galen. She’ll be happy to see your new friends then.”
“Don't worry Ezra I'll come to visit and Caleb will be here if you need anything.” Hera was hugging Ezra, burying her face in his fluffy hair. With the rest of the parents gone. Leia, Mara, Luke, Jai, Galen and reluctant Ezra introduced themselves.
Leia, Luke and Galen learned Mara, Jai and Ezra were birthday buddies. Mara told them how her parents were astronomers. Jai’s mother was a seamstress. Everyone already knew who the twins and Galen’s parents were. Ezra shyly told them how his father was a doctor while his mother worked in with broadcast towers.
Once they started talking about animals Ezra began to open up some more. The five seven year olds were amazed by his knowledge. Mara and Leia noticed how soft Ezra hair was and began playing with it. Galen and Luke started to trace some of Ezra’s smaller spots on his arms.
“Stop! Your not supposed to touch his hair or markings.” Jai panicked. “Its just hair.” Mara stated. “His markings looks so cool.” Galen whined. “Because it’s considered rude.” “But we touch people’s hair all the time.” Luke replied with confusion. Leia who seemed the most diplomatic of the six understood Jai’s outburst. “Our cultures might see it as okay but Ezra and Jai’s don't see that way.”
“Sorry Ezra we didn't mean to offend you?” “We didn't know next time well be carful.” “Its okay guys next time ask someone but you can still play with my or markings. You too Jai you have permission.” Jai hesitantly began tracing the spots long with the boys. The five developed a circle around Ezra. He felt safe around them and began to purr out of content.
When the crèche master went to put them down for a nap she noticed the three boys and two girls using Ezra as a pillow. His Purring had lull them to sleep. Taking a picture she sent it to Dume, Skywalker and Marek.
Marek sent the picture to his wife Mallie, the Jades and Ms. Kell. Skywalker sent it to his Wife Padme, Master, Padawan and various other family members and clones of the 501st. Caleb sent it to Hera, their friend Zeb on Lasan, the Masters of his Lineage, Styles and Gray with the rest of the battalion. Even Wolffe, Rex and Gregor got it sense they were the ones to find Ezra.
Not wanting to disturbed them the Crèche master placed blankets on them. It caused the children to snuggle into the Ezra even more making him purr louder and mewl like a kitten.
This took longer then I wanted it too. Constructive Criticism is always welcomed. Hoped everyone likes this.  Now I'm going to bed because I have 4:30am to 2pm shift tomorrow and its 11:40.

Okay I’m just going to vent some below the cut...spoiler warning for Jedi Night and Dume
First off...last night I freaking cried even more than I had already cried because I saw some things online that made me think something was going to happen in the next two episodes of Rebels and I did NOT want to have to deal with more pain after losing my cat...But of course Dave loves pain...though I really only got emotional because of the crew’s reactions (which seems to be the case with most things I watch)
Now for my thoughts...
Cliches...disappointment...looking at the screen going “seriously?” Yes I got a little emotional but after crying my heart out yesterday it was nothing.
First off, the series isn’t over, and I still have hope, but Dave will have to do some really great things to redeem this...
One of my first issues is how Kanera seemed to just like...jump out of nowhere, I saw a better articulated post but it seems like Kanera was zeroed in on while Ezra’s relationships are pushed to the side. Yes, I love Kanera but it just felt...so...off...like they cared about each other so much and you are telling me they never kissed before or talked about the future even though they’ve acted like they were married for years? I think the “I love you” was a good part but it’s also like a “oh look fit this in and then kill a character.” And then when Hera was captured we saw Kanan being the only one that really stopped, if you don’t think Ezra, Sabine, and Zeb wouldn’t of wanted to go back too then I don’t know what show you’ve been watching. (especially Ezra...)
And other Kanera moments...like I want them to have a talk but not when they are TRYING TO ESCAPE. I guess they wanted to have Kanan talk because the thought he was going to die, and Hera was under the influence of a drug thing but...still...That being said, Hera’s reaction to Kanan’s ‘death’ did feel real and sad and the bead on the kalkori was good (though I think all of the space fam deserve a bead on there)
Another thing...Kanan gave Ezra the mission and then Kanan is still the one to go and save Hera...even though Ezra was in charge was because Kanan’s judgement was clouded...that...just seems...hypocritical. I mean I guess it was Ezra’s idea but I don’t know it just seems....strange...also once again, disregarding Ezra’s connection to Hera too. (Maybe that’s just because it wasn’t shown in the show and there isn’t the Force between then but you can’t tell me Ezra doesn’t love Hera as a mentor/parental figure just as much as Kanan...)
And then...that end scene from Jedi Night...I’m sorry but if you are going to kill a character don’t do it like that. My first thought was, “Couldn’t he do that from the ship?” Heck Ezra could’ve helped him out maybe some too...like...it was just so...stupid? Like, I might’ve been a little more okay with Kanan’s death but the way they did it just ugh...like even when they saw the thing was going to explode just jump on the ship and try to make a force shield of sorts so none of the explosion hits them like...really guys... not only that, but the whole “The mentor has to die for the student to learn” is so overdone especially in Star Wars. So honestly I really hope Kanan isn’t actually dead...that doesn’t excuse the annoyingness of how he died but like...can we just stop with the mentor dying? It’s getting to tiresome and if you don’t do the death well to begin with just...ugh...
Okay, aside from those things, I did like some of the parts. The character’s reactions to the death seemed really true to character and I enjoyed that. Also Sabine and Zeb noticing things and not rushing into the city, and them sending a message with Rook was cool (and Sabine painting him, I legit thought she put a real bomb on him at first and I was like...”dude...” xD) Also Zeb finally hugging someone and Chopper holding Hera’s hand, those were both great (though please I need Ezra hugging Sabine too plz, and Hera hugging her kids they went through crap let them hug!) And Ezra being so despondent...though we didn’t see him crying or wiping his eyes which...come on...unless he was crying into Zeb’s shoulder, which is would be the only good explanation for me.
I like the wolves but...it did seem strange...I mean I feel like they were trying to get Ezra where they wanted him to go but I think an interview said otherwise which is weird to me. Like “this is how you repay your master for what he has done, by being scared?” Me “Umm dude he just LOST SOMEONE SHEESH GIVE HIM A BREAK!” Like I was despondent after losing my cat and Ezra lost pretty much his second DAD so ughhhh...sorry this became annoyed ranting again...But that is another point...Ezra has already lost so much...why does he have to lose more?
I don’t know...I think some of my reaction is just from what has been going on with my life and my hope that Kanan will come back is my way of coping with the pain I’ve been going through. But either way, I’m really hoping Dave can fix this...he said trust him in Recon so...you better not let me down anymore Dave...

New ask for Philly
Which parent do they look the most like?
She’s a pretty good mix of both her parents. She got her eyes from her dad, nose from her mom, and her skin is a mix of the two. Each of her parents like to say she looks more like them, but if Philly had to give a definite answer, she got the softer features from her dad.
Is there a name they were almost given (either by their parents or during character creation)?
Her parents wanted to name her something Greek to show some of the Library’s roots, and Philomena meets “friend of strength” and overall “friend, lover” and wanted to show their daughter that she would be the one that would become a hero and friend of the world.
What were they like as a kid (if they’re currently a child, what would they be like as a teen)?
Contrary to popular belief, Philly wasn’t always the posh put together person that she appears to be. She was a rambunctious kid who liked seeing what places she could play hide and seek (because lbr she’s an expert at it) and liked playing games with her friends and parents. It wasn’t until that she became Ezra’s mentor that she started becoming the Philly we all know and love.
What’s their drinking tolerance and what kind of drunk are they?
Philly has an exceptionally low drinking tolerance, which is why she never drinks in front of people. At like two drinks, she’s a cuddly drunk but just self-aware enough that she doesn’t cuddle with anyone without them first asking if she wants to. So at that point she’ll just hug a pillow.
Where do they like to be touched?
Will someone please put their hand on this girl’s shoulder and tell her they’re proud of her. She looks up to authority (mostly because said authority is her parents, mentor, and former best friend’s mom) like no other and just wants to have a comforting hand on her.
In terms of sexual/romantic touches, she loves exploration and having her partner touch all of her body including and especially her tiddies.
What’s their favorite position (top/bottom/switch/pillow princess/etc.)
True switch. She’s only had really one sexual partner so far, but given that both are extremely versatile, she’s loves being both the one in control and giving commands and also just letting someone taking all the decisions out of her hands for a while.
What are their kinks?
Big into rope both for her and her partner (if they’re also into it), When she’s topping, she loves pegging (and actually did it invisible a couple times), a little bit of exhibitionism, very into teasing and edging, and like everything else she’s found out from her brief relationship with Clark, temperature play.
How do they feel about adrenaline (roller coasters, extreme sports, etc.)?
Philly doesn’t seek it out necessarily, but she’s not afraid of it. The few times she’s left the Library with the kids for excursions and they found themselves at an amusement park, she’ll go on rides with Ezra, but if something gets a little bit too scary for her, she runs the risk of glitching out.
What is their fight or flight response?
She fluctuates between fight and freeze. She’s pretty good at fighting back when she needs to and has fast reflexes, but when it comes to something that involves emotional issues, she will freeze and start to glitch and usually needs help to come out of it.
What’s their pain tolerance?
Philly likes to say she has a high pain tolerance, and she’s been able to build it up after almost ten years of training, but especially with her power, she tends to be a little weaker than others and focuses more on being fast than hardy. But she has trained herself to ignore the pain and keep working through it.
What character archetype are they the most like (the Innocent, the Hero, etc.)
Heavy is the head the wears the crown, she is The Ruler. She doesn’t want to necessarily, but she is responsible for everyone and she is going to do her very best to make sure that no one gets hurt under her watch.
What TV-Tropes trope would they be?
The Defrosting Ice Queen. When the squad arrives at the Library, she has many stressors and is emotionally closed off, but as people start being nice to her and being her friend and convince her that she doesn’t have to have the world on her shoulders, she can start to relax and love and smile again.
What John Mulaney quote/bit do they most embody?
“My wife Team Leader’s a bitch and I like her so much!”
With the exception of love interests and immediate family, who are they closest to?
Since Hera never becomes a love interest for her and Ezra’s her sonboy, it would be Hera. Hera definitely drives her up the wall sometimes because of her (arguably manipulative methods) but she appreciates that at the end of the day, Hera cares about her.
What is their moral alignment? What would have to happen for it to shift?
She is the Lawful Good that everyone needs but not everyone necessarily likes. She knows that you need authority to have a central leadership but that leadership is only as good as its followers. She is not authority for the sake of authority, she is an authority person(s) should exist to help those they lead and if they are not doing their job, the system must change. Once she gets a little more disillusioned in the organization (or the team) she gave so much of her life to, she might slide into Neutral Good. But she does care about her team so much. Even if they don’t see it.
Are they a morning person? What are they like before 8am?
Philly is not necessarily a morning person and is just a hint more snappy before 8, but she wakes up everyday at 5 to start her day. So whether she likes it or not, she became a morning person.
What are they like when they’re tired?
Philly doesn’t get tired, she gets results. (In all seriousness, she just gets more withdrawn and is prone to glitching spells until someone forces her to sleep).
What are they like in arguments?
Philly has two modes in arguments: either she thinks your feedback is valid or it isn’t. If she thinks its valid, she will listen, albeit be a little exasperated, but if she thinks that your feedback is stupid, she will either go invisible and just walk away or stand there for the amount of time you’re talking and then say “are you finished being an idiot because some people have work to do.”
What is their dominant hand?
Left
Out of 10, how happy are they? How happy do they think they are?
Philly has had an entire sect of an organization on her shoulders since she was around eleven years old. She recently had her not-a-boyfriend abandon her without a goodbye, and she’s stuck with people who hate her. She’s doing at a rough 6/10. And she’s not deluding herself that she’s happier than she is, but she is taking the responsibility head on.

“Heroes of Mandalore” Liveblog
A little late, but hey.
I have been waiting for this for ages LET’S DO THIS PEOPLE!
Some familiar barren Mandalorian desert here.
AND RIGHT IN WITH MY BABIES BEING BATTLE COUPLE!
Aaah, this episode is going to spoil my filthy sabezra heart, I can tell.
I’m so proud of Sabine.  So, so proud.
Aww, Ezra is having problems adjusting to his jetpack.
You wanted one Ez, you don’t get to complain now.
Such banter.  Much cute.
Wooo Sabine!
Lol and Chopper was totally like, “Here we go again.
LOL, AWW EZRA!
Hnngh oh gosh the animation is so fluid and smooth.
Sabine and Ezra banter aaah it’s so good!
Noooo Sabine! D:
Ezra, the last time y’all were pinned down like this you went all Dark Side on the chicken walker, you’d better not--
Oh good, he’s learning.
Hi Bo-Katan!
Ha ha I love how Kanan isn’t even using a jetpack, he just Force Jumps.
So I imagine the Satine references are probably making some Clone Wars fans cry, but I never really cared for her so...
Awwwww, Ezra looking all concerned at Sabine.
And now they’re going to have a talk, good, good.  Feed my thirsty shipper heart.
(Sidenote: Holy cats this music cue ashlfakhsflakj--)
Chopper go away, they were having a moment!
Oh hi Mom Wren.  Hi Tristan.
Kanan and Hera are having marital bickering lol.  And it annoys Chopper.
Oh but Hera honey, slow down and stop being all, “BUT THE MISSION!”  You’re not Batman.
And back with my sabezra babies they are having more cute banter.  D’aww.
Can I just... sit here and watch them interact forever?
They’re so precious.
Oh no, “the weapon”.  Problem.
Oh, that’s a nifty use for those transport side pockets.
HNNGH THIS MUSIC.
Kevin Kiner have my children.
Lol Chopper.
Go Kanan.  Woo!
“Are you with Sabine?”  “Yeah I’m with her.  I mean--I’m not with her with her--”
SAKFSJHAKFJAH IS THIS HAPPENING?!
“I’m just friends... with her.”
Oh my gosh Ezra you dork.
I can die happy now.
Ho ho ho shit Ezra got awesome.
And there’s Sabine to grab him.
MY BABIES ARE SO CUTE.
Aww hugs.
Hey, Mom Wren’s helmet looks like it has cat ears, kinda.
Oh shoot, there’s the weapon.
And poor Sabine!
Just... ouch with Tiya’s voice-acting here.
That was one of her cousins probably.
I mean, that had better not have been Tristan.
Nope.  I refuse.
Sabine blaming herself naturally.
Ursa and Tristan are alive OH THANK FORCE.
Wrath of Sabine.  Wow.
Fang fighter to the rescue!
Or, wait... is that the Gauntlet we stole from Maul?
...It’s a Gauntlet at any rate.
Lol aww Ezra.  You sure you don’t wanna be a Mandalorian?
OH HI THRAWN.  HI HI HIIIIII.
Please go away.
Aaaand I was right.  The weapon targets Mando armor specifically and fries people inside it.  Yikes.
Heh.  Thrawn is thinking through the practical implications of threatening a Proud Warrior Race with a direct affront to their battle pride.
“I only have pieces of the prototype.”  Ha ha because Sabine wrecked it, didn’t she?
Thrawn does not like your lack of appreciation for “art”.
Awww Mom and Dad Wren!
Ezra moving to defend Sabine of course.
Ezra offering a very practical solution.  Unfortunately cultural pride is more important to Mandos than it is to Hera.  *cough*
Aaaand here we go with people giving Sabine grief again.
(Ezra’s so protective of her aaaah!)
Time for planning!
Sooo... Can Rau/Katan be a thing?
I bet they’d be cute.
Here we go, let’s get to the capitol.
The weapon is named after Satine?  Pfft--I’m sorry just--ha ha ha--that’s... that’s too perfect.
Lol-ing forever.
Noooo Sabine!  (Again.)
I see Saxon 2.0 is as arrogant and obnoxious as the first mode.
Go Ezra, save Sabine!
Such good action.  Much excite.
She turned it on the stormtroopers didn’t she?  Ha ha, and Saxon 2.0 is gonna flip the switch.
Nice.
Oh, careful!  Ezra’s scout helmet!
Sabine showing off her slightly bloodthirsty revenge side, as in “Protector of Concord Dawn”.
I see Ezra is not the only one going to be exploring the theme of How We Fight this season.
And I can already hear people kvetching about the schematics between Sabine turning the weapon on the stormtroopers versus them dying in the explosion she caused.
Look it’s really not that hard: there’s a distinct difference between actively murdering your enemies out of revenge (while they’re defenseless, after deliberately making them suffer to boot) and them dying incidentally as a side result of you performing your actual mission.
Motivation, people.
Anyway, glad Bo-Katan is there to be the voice of wisdom.
And she’s also stepping up to be Mandalore’s new leader awesome.
ASFDLKAHLFS WHAT IS THIS TENDER MEANINGFUL LOOK BETWEEN YOU AND EZRA, SABINE?!
And a lovely music cue to close us out.
So!  That wasn’t as much of an emotional wrecking ball as last season’s.  (Though let’s be honest there isn’t that much that can top the return of Kanan’s “I’ve got you.” at the most appropriately tearjerking moment of the episode.)
But very good!  The action was so fluid and dynamic and Tiya’s voice acting broke my heart in places and SO MUCH EZRA AND SABINE INTERACTION YES GOOD.
My only disappointment is that Ezra and Sabine never got a back-to-back saber fight.

Wolf’s Heart
So I got a new story idea I wanted to show you guys. If you like it, I’ll continue it. It’s basically a fantasy AU where Ezra is captured by a werewolf and has to learn more about it in order to save the village he grows up in. It’ll swap character’s POV, but it’ll be in first person. Hope you guys like it. Enjoy! :D
Chapter 1. Ezra
Everyone who grew up in the village knew about the wolf. The village elders claimed the land was cursed, that a deal with a demon of sorts had been made. Once a month, the wolf would take a tribute, a sacrifice of sorts, and in exchange leave the villagers at peace. For years, it went that way. Some say the uneasy peace lasted centuries even. But after so many years, the wolf added another condition. Once every seven years, on the night of the Blood Moon, a human had to be offered to the wolf from a family of its choosing. It was usually at random and the wolf would only accept young children. The village lived in fear of the night before the blood moon, when a newborn or toddler was to be taken from the poor family.
Nobody to this day knows what happened to those kids. Most assume they’re eaten. The families with lost loved ones grieved, but like in all things, life went on. Besides the whole haunted by a wolf thing, the village itself was rather safe. The population wasn’t all that big and everyone knew everyone. We have festivals and fairs, and we celebrate special occasions. All in all, it was actually a nice place to live.
I was adopted when i was eight by Kanan and Hera Jarrus, who ran their own farm in the village. While we were relatively well off, we preferred to do all the work ourselves. Sometimes we got help from relatives who were just coming to visit, like uncle Zeb and Aunt Ahsoka. But visits from there were rare and far between. We liked keeping busy, despite the time consuming work. I loved the animals too. We had horses, a few cows, a small herd of goats, and even a couple pigs. My job was mostly cleaning out pens and feeding the animals. Every so often I’d also collect some eggs for Hera from the small flock of chickens we had. I sometimes even got to help Kanan with repairs on pens and some machinery. Those were the best times to me really.
But when I wasn’t working, I sometimes took walks around the village or spent time with my friend Sabine. She came from a family of hunters and they themselves had a personal vendetta against the Wolf. From what I heard, one of her mother’s closest friends was killed by the Wolf. It had marked her door the night before a Blood Moon, but she refused to give the baby to it. The village learned what happened when you didn’t obey the wolf. It killed the mother and stole the son by force, and the boy hadn’t been seen since. The woman and her child were Sabine’s godmother and god brother. Ever since, it was clan Wren’s mission to find and kill the beast.
Our door was marked last month, and everyone knew it. My family and I were shunned for the most part, but Clan Wren didn’t. Ursa Wren, Sabine’s mother, knew how close we were, and offered to help our family if we needed anything. So far though we were making it. I found Sabine training as usual after a hard day’s work with the animals.
“So...are you guys ready for tonight?” Sabine asked when she saw me and put her new silver blade away.  “We’ll be alright. It’s just Wolf Night. The Blood Moon isn’t for another year” I remembered, “Kanan’s putting a goat to the post for tonight”.
In the center of the village were a pair of man made structures. The first was huge, sturdy wooden pole where animals were tied to once a month. The other was an altar like structure where kids and babies were left every seven years. In all the years I lived here, I never once saw grass grow in that area, not even in the best seasons.
“Hopefully that all stops tonight” Sabine gazed at the pole intensely, “No one should have to lose anything to that monster”.  “Are you sure you guys are ready?” I asked, “I mean that thing’s probably ancient and seen all the traps in the books”.  “We have actual silver this time. A cut from a blade or dagger should be more than enough. We may not even have to actually stab it or anything”.  “Sometimes I wonder why it hunts us”.  “Because it’s a cowardly monster”.  “Well yeah I know that but have you ever wondered why it’s here, what it wants? Some actually say it can talk”.  “Ezra, I hate to tell you this, but it doesn’t want to talk. If it did, I’m sure a better understanding could possibly be made but for us it’s a monster, a beast that needs slaying”.  “But what if it actually did? I think it’d be kinda interesting to hear its side of things. I’m not saying I like what it does, I’m just curious I guess”.  “Well you know what they say about curiosity...just don’t tell that to Chopper” Sabine joked and I cracked a smile, “But in all seriousness, this isn’t some dog that can be captured and tamed. It’s a giant wolf that feasts on the flesh of the innocent. It has to be stopped, and if not by us then who?”
I wanted to say something else but Hera called for me. “Ezra! It’s time to come in! Sun’s almost down”.  “Alright, be there in a minute” I turned and hugged Sabine, “Just be safe okay? Try not to get killed”.  “I’ll be fine” she hugged me back. “I’ve been training for this for years. I promise I’ll bring the village back its head”.
I believed it but I still worried for Sabine. I watched from my room as Kanan tied a goat to the pole. Tonight I hoped to see the Wolf, alive or dead. The sun went down and a haunted eerie silence fell over the village. The silence was only broken as a single lonely howl sounded from the forest of coniferous trees somewhere in the distance. I sighed and worry made my stomach turn. It wasn’t that I didn’t have faith in Sabine or her training. I just couldn’t bear the thought of my friend dying by the creature’s fangs. When I was sure Kanan and Hera were asleep, I grabbed the hunting knife Kanan gave me for my birthday and carefully climbed out the window. I heard a harsh meow and turned to see Chopper staring at me on the front porch. Chopper was our resident mouse catcher, an orange tabby who wandered freely around the farm, and he seemed to be berating me.
“What? You expect me let Sabine get killed? If things get to be too bad, I’ll run straight inside okay? I promise”.
Chopper meowed and blinked, unconvinced. I sighed and facepalmed.
“Whatever...” I took off with only the big full moon as my only light.
The goat was still secured to the pole when I hid behind the altar. All I could possibly do now is wait and see what happened...

Rewatching “Heroes of Mandalore”
OK, so I actually had to split up the reactions between Parts 1 and 2 because so much crap went down in the premiere and I took a lot of freaking notes.
Part 1
BACKSTREET’S BACK ALRIGHT!
OH MY GOD WE’RE BACK AGAIN
Just noticed the tiny detail of Fenn Rau using military hand gestures but gently tapping Kanan to get him to stop.
There’s Manda’o going across Fenn Rau’s vision in his helmet
Oh my gosh Chopper flapping his mechanical arms
*Sabine unleashes the Darksaber*  HECK YEAH!
Craap there wasn’t an opening theme...
*Ezra continues having difficulty with his jetpack*  Oh my God Ezra...
KANAN’S FREAKING FLYING WITH THE FORCE
*Bo-Katan and her forces arrive*  The calvary is here!
Holy crap Kanan...he’s freaking jumping everywhere!
“Her [Bo-Katan] sister Satine once ruled Mandalore.”  Ugh I don’t need these feels...
“I’m not my sister.”  Aaaagghhhh...
What is this music here when Bo-Katan turns down the Darksaber because it is so pretty
Hey, um @starwars, I would love to see the concept art for this episode
The animation is so freaking good here oh my God
“Your [Sabine’s] father’s being brought back to the capital for public termination.”  They’re gonna try and pull a freaking Ned Stark on us...
The color palette for Mandalore is just broowwwnnn....
“Oh... having trouble overthrowing the Empire without me [Kanan]?”  Oh my God YOU’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR ZONE
Freaking Kanan’s smile
THAT FREAKING LITTLE JINGLE THOUGH
“You know what I [Hera] mean.”  “Well, you know how I feel.”  I dunno, Kanan, tell us how you feel!
*munches on popcorn*  Take us to church!
“Are we still talking about the mission?”  OK GUYS something had HAD to go down between S3 and S4... I mean, C’MON...
Chopper’s exaperated grumbles at Hera and Kanan is literally me right now!
I like the little detail of Kanan drumming his fingers on his arm after Hera ends the holocall
Also, take a shot every time you see his ponytail flap in the wind
You can actually understand Chopper more here
“I do love the capital.”  Oh my gosh I love Sabine’s dad.  Who plays him?
These actions scenes though are fantastic
We even get freaking POV shots of the driver in charge of the carrier that has Sabine’s dad!
*Kanan kicks ass*  YESSS KANAN!
[Saxon trooper peeks underneath the carrier] *starts scatting the Pink Panther theme*
Just saying this:  I totally want more of Fenn Rau and Bo-Katan working together
*Kanan closes the top and kicks everyone’s asses in the dark*  HE PULLED A ROGUE ONE THIS IS AMAZING
“Are you [Ezra] with Sabine?”  “Yeah, I’m with her!  I mean, not with her with her- I’m just friends... with her.”  HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Oh my gosh guys, Ezra has matured so freaking much since his blueberry days in S1
He’s [Ezra’s] pulling a freaking Legolas from “Battle of the Five Armies”
Oh my gosh Ezra’s scrambling up the cliff.
This animation’s so freaking good!
*Sabine and her father hug each other*  Aggghhh don’t mind me crying into my sleeve...
OK so I’m definitely drawing their hug
Sabine’s dad an art critic.  I love it.
OH SHIT IT’S HER WEAPON
OH SHIT SHIT SHIT SON
It’s a freaking nuke...
Kevin Kiner, you bastard, you put Sabine’s Catharsis in freaking minor!
I READ YOUR BOOK!
Part 2
*Ursa and Tristan emerge alive*  TOLD Y’ALL THEY DIDN’T GET KILLED OFF
Yet again they don’t play the opening theme...
Pretty sure that one random Clan Kryze member is played by Phil LaMarr
“I [Ezra] don’t wanna be a Mandalorian”  Well I don’t wanna be a pirate...
*Ezra smacks against the windshield of the TIE fighter*  Pfffttt...
Holy crap totally didn’t see the Thrawn cameo coming
*A demonstration is shown of the weapon against Mandalorians*  Holy crap they just showed that onscreen
This is definitely not a kids’ show anymore...
Can we talk about the fact that Tiber Saxon is played by freaking Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies) from Game of Thrones?!?
Holy crap talk about some star power.  We need more actors to come over from GoT
You can hear Lars Mikkelsen’s Danish accent come out when he raises his voice
*Bo-Katan slams Sabine against the wall in anger*  Oh crap.
“So why not make your [Mandalorian] armor out of something different?”  Ezra no
“My armor I [Sabine] wear is over 500 years old.”  That’s awesome.
“Any attack on my [Ursa’s] daughter is an attack on Clan Wren.”  Go Mom!
The color palette for this premiere is brown, yellow, grey, black, orange, blue, and purple
“The Duchess?  You name the weapon after my sister, the former ruler of Mandalore?”  Umm awkward...
“Palpatine has shown me [Tiber Saxon] the way to true power!”  Did Palpatine show the Saxons freaking Force Lightning?!?
“Oh, I’m moving!”  YESS!
Holy crap that shot of Ezra looking at the fight in the hangar is awesome and is giving me sudden onset Clone Wars flashbacks
OK, I can totally see Tristan and Ezra hanging out
Sabine’s pulling a freaking Palpatine from ROTJ!  HOT DANG!
Holy crap we’re getting the Dark Side here in Sabine!
Honestly though, for the last ten minutes of this, me and @dynamicdiplomacy were just in silent shock the first time we saw this
*sniffs tearfully*  Sabine’s Catharsis...
Clan Vizsla?!?
*Bo-Katan accepts the Darksaber and everyone bows down*  Bow down, bitches!
THIS MUSIC IS AWESOME!
Oh that last shot of everyone kneeling is awesome!
*internally screaming*
*externally screaming*

Finished watching Season 3 with my niece! (with bonus Rogue One!)
Hey! I finally finished watching Season 3 with my niece, and just like the previous two seasons, I made a compilation of most of her comments and impressions. As we had to wait for the Latin Spanish dubbed episodes to come out, we had the chance to also watch Rogue One, TPM, AtoC and the TCW movie. She had a meltdown with the S2 finale a couple of months ago so everything was still fresh for her. My own comments to her are in double brackets.
STEPS INTO SHADOW
“Where is Kanan? Why is Kanan not there? He’s always on the mission with them. Oh god, he’s dead, is he?”, ((The episode is just starting, watch)), “He’s dead in life…!! [wails]”
“WHAT? IS THAT EZRA!? How many years have passed?? I hate his new haircut, but… but he looks so grown up! And thin. Very thin. He’s a grown up noodle” (( HAHAHAHAHA)))
“Hey, I remember him! The pirate guy!”
“Woah. Ezra got a new gun”, ((blaster)), “Yes! He’s getting good! WOW! LOOK AT THOSE MOVES! Acrobatic fighting! He’s amazing now!”
“Great! He also got better with the Force. He’s going to-… [the walker scene plays out]… Oh no… Oh no! HE’S TURNING TO THE DARKSIDE! Kanan definitely didn’t teach him that! Who taught him that?? MAUL?”
“Ezra needs to chill, he’s too angry. The darkside will-… [holocron glows inside the helmet]. No. No. NO. Don’t touch the helmet. Put it down! NO. THE SITH HOLOCRON!?? NO! So dumb!! Haven’t you learn anything!?? Kanan needs to scold him! Set him straight!”
“Kanan is not there in the meeting either… ARRGH! Why wont they show him! That’s what we all want to know! They are making us suffer! [squirms on her seat]”
“FINALLY!”
“Kanan also changed, got older”, ((Just the beard))
“Is that a real voice? Is the sith holocron speaking to Kanan too? Nooo”
“Oh, ♫ here comes the scolding~! ♪”
“See? Only someone who uses the darkside can open it. Ezra’s going to use both! Light and dark”, (([poker face]))
“Yeah, take it from him. Make sure he doesn’t have it. It’s for your own good!… -[GASP] Talking back to Kanan! The nerve! He should ground him”
“Who is talking to Kanan? Is it a bad guy? He should be careful, it could be a trap”
[Bendu appears] “What is THAT!?”
“[eyes widen] Ashla? Bogan? He’s the one in the MIDDLE? THE BENDU!?? [starts going hype on her seat] SEE! THAT’S EZRA! EZRA IS LIKE HIM! Light and dark! He’s BENDU too!”
“He’s going to teach him how to see better with the Force? Neat”
“Who’s that scary blue guy”, ((His name is Grand Admiral Thrawn. He’s very intelligent and dangerous)), “I can tell”
“He can see the spiders now! And yes, yes, Ezra needs you right about now! Go!”
“Hahaha recovery operation”
“The phantom fell! D: Hera is going to be angry”
“Don’t worry Ezra. I’m so glad I know Hera and Kanan are on the way”
“Kanan should tell Ezra with the Force that he’s here to rescue him. He can do that, right?”
“He better catch him”
“Aww… they made up. Good!”
THE HOLOCRONS OF FATE
“Ezra still wants to use the holocron? Doesn’t he learn anything?”
“Oh. OH NO. MAUL. [RAGES]”
“Awesome! Bendu is going to be Ezra’s new teacher? To use the Light and the Dark?”
“I hate the spiders”
“Yeah, Sabine and Zeb are good, but they are no match against MAUL”
“Well, Kanan might have forgive him, but I still think THIS IS YOUR FAULT EZRA! HE WILL NEVER SEE HERA’S FACE! Ugh! I want to punch him!… and maybe hug him later, but slap him for sure!”
“Loook awaaaaay. LISTEN TO YOUR DAD”
((Who do you think Maul’s talking about? )) “Well, of course… [roll eyes] Obi Wan”
ANTILLES EXTRACTION
“Uuuh Sabine is going into the academy! Sneaky!”
“It’s nice that Ezra is worried about her”
[Kallus finds them] “Oh no, Agent Kallus is going to sto-…” [stares at me in disbelief] D: “Did he just… became a good guy?” ((Well, he still owed Zeb, remember)) “Yeah… you might be right”
HERAS’S HEROES
“Why are they risking going inside? Just for… that thing?”
“That blue guy will figure out she was a spy. He’s good.”
“See, he did.”
THE LAST BATTLE
“Those are the same droids we fight on Disney Infinity! This is awesome!” Note: She hasn’t seen clone wars or PT at this point.
“They have Zeb as a prize? Hahahaha”
“How was Rex programmed? Is he a also half robot?”
“Uhm… Ezra is good making friends”
“Yay! They got a new ship!”
IMPERIAL SUPERCOMMANDOS
“Who’s that again?” ((Fenn Rau)) “….who?”
“Why are the Mandalorians attacking them?”
“Her mom is BAD?”
“Hahahahaha, Ezra’s worried about his personal space! Look at his face!”
“They should just beat another mandalorian and steal his jetpack so Ezra can fly away with her”
“NO! THE JETPACK WAS SHOT!”
“She’s going to fix it, right?”
IRON SQUADRON
“They are going to regret not following Hera’s orders”
“Woah, Ezra, you are all mature now…. IS STILL YOUR FAULT KANAN LOST HIS EYES THO!”
“I think I can understand what Chopper says now”
“Now THAT is a Star Destroyer”
“Ezra and the others should just have left them” ((HAHAHAHAHA))
The Wynkahthu Job
“Yeah… Ezra trusts the wrong people easily. Like Maul. THANKS EZRA”
AN INSIDE MAN
“Who is that guy again?”, ((Ryder. From Season 2. The man who told Ezra his parents were dead)) “Uhmm….:|”
“Wait… is Thrawn going to make him ride the bike?… uh-oh… is he injured or…?” ((He’s gone)) “HE EXPLODED?”
“I LOVE WHEN THEY STEAL THE UNIFORMS. They just look at each other and it’s like they know what the other is thinking!” ((That’s kind of an ability with the Force too…)) “It’s awesome”
“Oh… there he is. Agent Kallus again. Ugh. Heh, at least he doesn’t know-… NOPE. HE KNOWS! HE KNOWS! …wait WHAT? He’s HELPING THEM? HE IS FULCRUM!? WHAT!? WHAAAAAAAAAT? He’s been a guy good all along?? BUT HE HURT THEM BEFORE!” ((It’s been only recently… maybe since that episode with Zeb. He helped Sabine, right?)) “YEAH BUT-… why does he stays with the Empire then!?” ((He’s a spy. He needs to keep face!)) “Is he going to come along with them?”
“WHAT? How… How does Thrawn knows what are they going to do?? He’s TOO SMART! D:”
“Ah, Ezra is smart by using the other walker as cover… small cover but its something”
“Oh, was that woman the wife of the guy who exploded? His… young wife? She does look young.”
“Thrawn knows it’s Kallus. He KNOWS it’s him. Thrawn is too smart! D:”
VISIONS AND VOICES
“That was a voice. Someone is calling Ezra. uh-oh… Ezra is going crazy”
“Oh no, no, no, no… it’s Maul, right? It has to be Maul”
“TELL THEM EZRA! SO MOM AND DAD CAN HELP YOU!”
“NO! IT’s RIGHT BEHIND-… WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM! IS EZRA DEAD!? He just fainted right? RIGHT? Oh, look at them…! They are all worried about him! EVERYONE IS WORRIED ABOUT EZRA! THEY ALL LOVE HIM” [starts sobbing] ((hahahahah, yeah, they all worry about-…wait… are you actually crying??)) “YES. They have become a real family! I’m so proud of them! They care about each other! It’s so beautiful!” (( [comforts/hugs her] o___________o [POTENTIAL DEAD OF KANAN AND EZRA STARTS MAKING ME FUCKING SWEAT] ))
“Look at them! They are waiting by his bedside! [dries tears]” (( .____. -OMFG- ))
“He is REALLY going crazy”
“Bendu is going to help them right?”
“Don’t turn around, don’t turn around, don’t- WAAAAAAAH!”
“He’s not your apprentice! Go Kanan! KILL HIM!”
“Well, Maul is right. They do need to defeat the sith. Uhmm… ok”
“He’s not going to hurt Ezra, is he?” ((No, remember when he said he was only loyal to him?)) “Yeah, but I thought he was lying… and because he keeps hurting his friends”
“oh, nonononono… Maul’s starting to talking about himself. I hate when he does that because it makes me care for him. His past is so sad” ((shitshitshitshitshit))
“They killed everyone… all his people”
“What is that place?”
“Is that a lightsaber?” ((Yep… you have seen it. Remember the fight we saw? Of Maul vs Lord Sidious?)) “Uh… yeah, where he kills his brother” (( Maul also had another lightsaber. A black one)) “Oh, that’s right, who made that one? A sith?” ((No… keep watching ;) ))
“Sabine would surely know”
“wait… is he… IS HE GOING TO MAKE EZRA DRINK ALCOHOL!?” ((uh… no, that’s like a dark magic potion)) “IT IS ALCOHOL. EZRA CANT DRINK THAT! He’s not 18 yet!!” ((… yeah, he’s 17 but that still not alcohol)) “It is! LOOK! Maul just toasted with him!” ((No, it is not)) “Ezra is coughing. It is totally alcohol…” ((….I…. ok… ))
“What did they just see? I don’t understand” (( A desert planet with two suns… Tatooine)) “oooohhh… that’s right. Obi Wan.”
“What’s that-! GHOSTS! GET AWAY! DONT LET THEM TOUCH YOU!”
“NOOO THEY TOOK KANAN AND SABINE! NOOO! ITS YOUR FAULT, EZRA! AGAIN!”
“Master versus Student. Nope. NOPE. NOPE”
“FIGHT IT, KANAN! You are the best! You can shake their control!”
“Ezra needs to bring the others outside the cave. Lure them”
“…. like brothers? He misses his family. But is he going to hurt Ezra now??… uh? HE LEFT?” ((Yep. He’s not going to hurt him.)) “Woah… maybe he is loyal to him after all. Evil loyal”
“How is it possible that Sabine is using that lightsaber?? SHE DOESNT KNOW HOW!”
“Ezra, you are a genius!”
“Sabine is going to take the lightsaber with her, right? Just like the jetpack. AWESOME”
( BONUS COMMENTS FROM ROGUE ONE!!)
I wasn’t able to take my niece to Rogue One when it came out because she was off on vacation during the holidays, so I was waiting for the blu-ray to come out. To start, my niece understands this is “3.5” on the timeline. Rebels’ placement is still a little confusing for her. These were her comments and impressions.
Who’s that? why are they looking for them?“
Woah… those troopers… they don’t look the same. ((Death troopers)) Uh-oh.
What… what’s going on? I don’t understand. Why are they leaving the girl? ALONE?
Is that the bad guy from Rebels? ((You mean Tarkin? No. His name is Krennic)) what a weird name…
Trust the Force? Is she a Jedi like Ezra and Kanan?
Where is Darth Vader? Is Darth Vader in this movie?
And now she’s an orphan. Great. They should have just ran.
Why is she in prison? What did she do!?
WHERE ARE WE NOW? What’s going on!?? Why aren’t they explaining anything!??
Why did he shot that guy!? Is he really a good guy? Why-? What-?
WHAT
Ok, so… there’s a message… and that guy brought it and… it’s important for someone called Saw Guerrera? Who send it again?
So her father is with the Empire and made the Death Star? He was forced to do so, I guess.
They want to KILL HER DAD? Are these really the Rebels we know?? ((They think he’s making more weapons, they want to stop him))
K2 is really funny.
That guy looks Mexican. ((He is)) HE IS!? OH! GREAT! Did he have problems with his accent? ((They kept his accent… there are many accents in Star Wars)) Oh, that’s good! :D [NOTE: We are Mexican]
What are they going to do to the pilot?? ((read his mind with that monster)) But he is not lying and he could lose his mind! ((Well, Saw Guerrera is an extremist, right?)) Overkill.
[Chirrut appears] Oh no… no. NO! HE REMINDS ME OF KANAN! HIS EYES! NOOO!
Kyber Crystals? ((Jedi use that for their lightsabers. Like Ezra, remember? It makes the laser.)) Oh… OOOOH, that’s right!
Is he a Jedi? ((Nope. A guard. He feels the Force but can’t use it like Ezra and Kanan))
Jyn can fight!
The blind guy is going to kick everyone’s butt…. THERE.
Hahahaha he’s blind. It won’t matter if they cover his face.
Why does Saw sound like that? ((There is something wrong with his lungs.)) The actor’s or the character’s? ((The Character))
He left her! He raised and left her! But why? He seems to like her enough.
[Galen’s message plays] oh… he did all of this… for her… [sniffles] …this is the first time I cry with a movie.
They are not shooting the Death Star right at them, right? RIGHT? OH NO. RUN! RUN!
He still wants to kill her dad?? He can’t do that! He wants to save them!
Chirrut is going to feel his bad intentions with the Force.
Does he look like a killer? xD Hahahaha.
Yay, the Rebels are sending help. ((Not, really, they are going to bomb the lab)) WHAT!? NO!!
Why won’t she start shooting!? Kill Krennic! He’s right there!
Grab your dad and get out of there!… oh, he’s not going to make it? It didn’t look that bad… :(
What planet is this? (( "Where Jedi go to die?”)) oh. OOOOH.
Hahaha Krennic is scared. Darth Vader is so intimidating.
Ohhhh, hahahaha, that was a great joke. He’s good! xD
They don’t believe her? bah… I would believe her.
((Did you hear that?)) Huh? ((They are calling for General Syndulla)) Yeah. (( Hera Syndulla)) Yeah, so? ….. [beat] …. [eyes widen] HERA? HERA SYNDULLA!? IS SHE IN THE MOVIE!? WHERE!? WHERE!? ((It was just a mention)) For the fans?
Sorry, I’m trying to see if I can spot anyone from Rebels in the background. ((Not yet. I’ll tell you when))
Will the others come too? Are they volunteering? That’s good. But they are so few…
[Jyn gives the speech] You know… I want you to know… I love how the main character is a woman in the new movies. It’s just so cool. Like with Rey. I love it. (( I know))
Why is Hera not helping them? (( I don’t know, maybe she had another mission?))
What a pretty planet. Was all that made with the computer? ((Most of that place is real… the bigger buildings are not)) With like… all the little islands and stuff? ((Yep! Is a beautiful place! Maldives, I believe)) Woah.
Hahaha they stole the uniforms. Classic.
You know, I like how Star Wars doesn’t show much blood everywhere. They get shot but is not like BLEARGH IM BLEEDING OUT. I rather watch it like this.
[I pause it just in time] ((DO YOU SEE HIM??)) CHOPPER! THERE’S CHOPPER!! I LOVE HIM!
Wooo! Here they come helping! YEAH!
WALKERS! RUN! RUNRUNRUNRUN!
They closed the barrier! They need to send the files through WiFi? ((Uhm…Yeah, kinda? lol ))
THERE’S THE GHOST! [several times through the battle]
Oh No, they are shooting K2. No. No, no, no. Please… not him… oh no.
Chirrut… the Force is with him…
Throw the granade away Bhodi-!…too late…
They are all dying.
She’s very strong to be able to climb like that. Crossfit?
I can imagine Hera flying through all of that and like Kanan and Zeb on the turrets shooting at all those TIE. ((We don’t know if Kanan and Ezra are around at this time. Yoda says Luke is the last Jedi on the other movies)) [looks at me dead serious] I don’t care what Yoda says. I don’t care if Luke is not the last Jedi. All I care is that Ezra and Kanan are alive. That’s it! They already took his eyes! THAT’S ENOUGH!“
Send the files through the wifi! NOW!
Who’s there in the hallway? As long as is not-… yeah, it’s him. They are dead.
Oh, OH, RUN. NOW! GO GO GO! Hahahaha [CHEERS] THEY DID IT! IT WAS A CLOSE CALL!
[GASPS] PRINCES LEIA! How did they make her look so young!?? AMAZING!
GHOSTS OF GEONOSIS
"SAW GUERRERA!”
“Where is Jyn? Is she going to show up here?”
“Kanan can sense him with the force”
“Woah Kanan is amazing! So cool! He’s the best!”
“hahaha, not a Skywalker”
“Those droids are too much for Zeb and Sabine”
“I think the alien bug is scared”
“Saw is really extreme”
“Ezra is good at making friends”
“When will Saw get his funny voice?”
“NOOOO, he only wants to protect the egg! Saw is being just MEAN!”
“Poor Klic-Klac! STOP HIM EZRA! SLASH HIS HAND OFF!… ok, you can tackle him too, fine”
“Sabine got her jetpack fixed! YAY! She’s going to kick their butts!!”
WARHEAD
“Well, AP5 is not wrong. Zeb is kinda like the muscle of the group. He’s not that smart”
“Woah, that robot is scary”
[The droid returns to the Star Destroyer] “They are screwed” ((because the droid is going to explode?)) “No, because Thrawn will know at least one his droids did found the Rebels.” ((…. O______O…. ))
“See? He now knows they are in one of those planets the droids visited. He’s too smart!”
TRIALS OF THE DARKSABER
“Uh… so this Mandalorian Jedi must have been, like, super cool”
“SABINE’S ROOM IS AWESOME! [SQUEAL]”
“Why is Sabine’s family angry with her? THEY ARE FAMILY”
“She doesn’t want the responsibility…. Heraaaa don’t push her”
“You know… [a little embarrassed] I kinda wish Sabine and Ezra had a thing together.” ((I don’t know if Sabine cares for Ezra like that. They don’t have time for dating anyway)) “There’s nothing wrong if she does… I mean… when she’s older and she wants kids” (( …even after the war, that might be complicated)) “But if she does…” ((…maybe… but so far they are like siblings)) “But they aren’t. They can end up happy together like Kanan and Hera” (( [stares ahead] Yes… end up happy like Kanan and Hera… o_____o [♪ HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND ]))
“She needs to be careful with the darksaber or she will get hurt- AAAAAAAAAH! DID SHE LOSE HER HAND!?” ((no, she just signed it)) “She’s going to get angry”
[Sabine opens up] “….woah….”
“They will fight for her. They are family”
LEGACY OF MANDALORE
“Uh, I don’t understand what she’s saying. What is she speaking?” ((Mandalorian))
“I bet one of those Mandalorians is a sibling of hers. That one must be her brother” (( O_O ok…)) “SEE!”
“She’s in trouble with her mom!”
“Ezra is so silly and cute at the same time. Just shut up, hahahaha”
“So sad. Her dad is a prisoner… Maybe Ezra and Kanan can help her rescue him. That would make everyone happy and they would join”
“[GASP] Her mom is a traitor! She will betray Sabine! HOW DARE SHE!?”
“Ezra is such a gentleman, giving Sabine his lightsaber to defend herself” ((xD))
“Is no one really going to help her!? REALLY??”
“She can fix her jetpack, right?”
“She’s not a normal Mandalorian. Maybe she- [GASP] SHE GOT SHOT!? OH GOD, NOO!! HE SHOT HER!… ah, ok, it was her mom. GOOD JOB MOM!”
“Wa-wait… she’s staying!? WHAT!…. [sigh] Ok, ok, she’s right. She needs to save her dad and her people… [beat]… IS SHE NOT GOING TO GIVE EZRA A GOODBYE HUG!??”
THROUGH IMPERIAL EYES
[GASP] “What is Ezra doing here!?”
“He knows Fulcrum is Kallus, right??”
“YEAH! This is really dangerous Ezra! What were you thinking!?…Oh. They might know of Kallus? ok, then that’s fine then. They will need to flee quickly”
“What are those lizard things in Thrawn’s office?”
“Thrawn knows is Kallus. He knows. He’s just waiting for him to slip”
“Hahaha stop doing that… good old times”
“Not even Thrawn’s stormtroopers can resist the mind trick”
“Ezra! Push the rock on top of Thrawn! USE THE FORCE NOW! SQUISH HIM!”
“They think Ezra is Lyste. So funny!”
“‘You want to fill me in?’… :( … I keep forgeting Kanan can’t see… uuugh, WAAAAaaah! Why!? WHYYY!… [sigh]… seems like I’ll have to resign myself that he will stay like this forever…”
“W-what? Is Kallus staying!? AFTER ALL THEY WENT THROUGH!? IS HE STUPID? Thrawn knows it’s him! SO DUMB!”
“See? SEEE!? THRAWN KNOWS! UUUUUGH! [throws arms up] Great! GOOD JOB KALLUS!”
SECRET CARGO
“That droid again!”
“Uh-oh, these Rebel groups don’t like each other”
“Ezra knows how to fly those ships! Thanks Hera! He will make you proud!”
“That’s… that woman from the news” ((Do you remember her from Rogue One? The one that told Jyn they couldn’t do anything in the meeting)) “oh, right… so she joins the Rebels now”
“THE GHOST IS BURNING! NO HERA! NO! STOP! NOT THE GHOST. ITS YOUR BABY”
“Well, those ships really got there fast… like… too fast. She stopped talking and 'Hey! We are here!’. Weird.”
DOUBLE AGENT DROID
“Hahahah AP5 and Chopper are so funny”
“They are going to hack Chopper!? FIGHT IT CHOPPER!”
“AP5’s going to realize something is wrong. He’s being too nice”
“Careful with the codes! and with the base location!”
“No!… AP5 is lost in space! They can go back for him, right?”
“Yeah! Don’t mess with her droid!”
“YEAAAH EXPLOSIONS! Sabine would love this! Too bad she’s not here.”
“HAHAHAHAHAHA, He’s singing! HAHAHAHAHA”
TWIN SUNS
“Who’s that… Maul…”
“Easy Maul. I know a way to bring Kenobi out. Just use a kid. A young one preferably. That should work. It’s what I would do if I was evil… see? He’s going to use Ezra” (( [nervous laugh] ))
“I still don’t get it” ((What?)) “Why does Maul want to kill Obi Wan? What does he expect to happen?” ((Maybe feel better?)) “But Maul already made him suffer before and did nothing for him… now he wants to kill him again?” ((He doesn’t know any other way to fix the way he feels)) “Uhmmm… [unconvinced]”
“That’s Kanan’s room… but where is Kanan??” (( [holding back a 'ON HERAS ROOM! YEAH’]))
“Why won’t they let him go? Hera… don’t be so strict. He’s a grown teenager now. Kanan can go with him and it would be quick”
“He’s going… ALONE?… ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Ezra! He’s Maul! MAUL! You can’t beat MAUL alone! He’s way more experienced than you! Even if you got better, you don’t have a chance against him! Leave that to the grown ups!”
“It’s amazing what the Holocrons can do”
“Of course it was a trap”
“[worried look on her face] You know… When Ezra hears Maul’s voice and makes him go a little crazy… I fear he will end up evil like Anakin”
“He should have stayed home”
“OBI WAN! HE CAME TO RESCUE HIM”
“OH MY GOD! THERE HE IS! Is he going to teach Ezra too??”
“Aw… ok, he needs to leave. Yep, he was manipulated. Kenobi will deal with that. Ezra has no business here”
“Does Maul want to get slashed through the middle, AGAIN?”
“He’s protecting… OH THAT’S RIGHT! LUKE!”
[Maul and Obi Wan prepare to fight] ((That’s Qui-Gon’s pose… the one he used when Maul killed him)) “oooooh”
“Bye bye lightsaber and… wait… Obi Wan got him too!?”, ((Yep, on the chest))
“THE CHOSEN ONE! Obi Wan must feel awful because he believed Anakin was the Chosen before and loved him, but at least he has Luke now”
“Is Maul bipolar or what. First he wants to kill Obi Wan, then he gets all emotional being held by him like he loves him… He can’t make up his mind. Oh well, at least the Chosen One will avenge him, that’s what mattered to him”
“Is… is Ezra keeping that ship!? Woah!”
“The family is back together! As it should be!”
ZERO HOUR
“Thrawn knows about the attack. Well… Kallus better tell the others.”
“Wait… WAIT. THAT’S EZRA’S ROOM! From the begining!” ((Kallus is sending his messages from that tower)) “SO COOL!”
“…what… THRAWN! Oh no…”
“Thrawn is going to win this fight… I don’t even know why Kallus thinks he can win. Just flee!”, ((He needs the message to reach them, he can’t leave before that))
“Those are the black troopers! From Rogue One! The really good ones!” ((Yep! Death Troopers))
“Heh, they had erased the planet from the maps… just like what happened with Kamino in the movies… but they couldn’t fool Thrawn either” ((Yeah, exactly, good catch. -Note: We saw TPM, AotC and TCW movies at this point… still need to watch RotS))
“Kanan still needs to teach him more things like a father… see? Ezra is right. Teach him more about life!”
“Wait, they even have a code signal to evacuate the whole base?” ((Well, yes, they need codes to know what to do, they are in war after all!))
“Heh, Kanan needs to go for Bendu”
“They can’t enter hyperspace… they can’t escape!”
“Mmmh… I don’t think Bendu is going to help them”
“What is Sato going to do? He rather die with a few…? Ok then”
“Oh… he rammed into the other ship-…WAIT! WHERE IS KALLUS!? He’s not in that one right? Oh! Phew! He was on the other ship with Thrawn. That was close”
“Well, now Hera is officially in charge of the whole base… not surprising”
“Kanan is making him angry. I think Bendu will end up attacking both sides”
“I still wonder if Ezra will end up in the Middle, like Bendu…”
“Why is he asking Mon Mothma for help?” ((She kinda became one of the leaders of the Rebellion, remember? When all the other ships showed up in the previous episodes)) “They won’t help… how ungrateful. Now what is Ezra going to do?” [“SABINE”] “What… WHAT? SABINE?? He can’t bring her into this! She has her own problems at home! He shouldn’t put her in more danger and there’s little they both can do!” ((He means her family, the Mandalorian)) “SNORTS HA! THEM? Please! The Mandalorians only care for their own people and their wars. You saw that. They are not going to help the Rebels just like that” (( [speechless] ))
“What is Thrawn’s plan now?” ((Attack them on ground and capture the higher ranks)) “What…? Why?” ((If he captures Hera and Dodona, he might be able to extract more information about the Rebellion and make an example of them by executing them later)) “Bah, Hera would die before revealing anything” ((They do have torture droids but they haven’t shown them in the show because this is for kids… they are very effective)) “Nah, Hera wouldn’t talk even then, they would have to kill her”
“How do shields work?” (( Sorry, I don’t know. Technology in Star Wars is sometimes a little fantastic… it just works)) “[unconvinced]”
“Oh no…. KANAN. KANAN FIND COVER NOW. NO. NO. NO! HE’S BLIND! STOP SHOOTING AT HIM!”
“That’s just funny because you are live! hahahahaha… yeah”
“I hate that they make Kanan 'look’ by turning his head around like he can still see. It confuses me…”
“I told you… the Mandalorians aren’t going to help Ezra”
“Ok, it won’t be an army… but I hope that’s enough to help them escape”
“Yeah, Kallus is not like Thrawn. He’s not blue! hahahahaha”
“Zeb and Rex are really good friends… I love how they fight together”
“They even brought those walkers! D:”
“The death troopers! They better run!”
“This is cliché… there’s a storm comming because OF COURSE it is [rolls eyes]” ((Isn’t it strange? This is a desert planet after all)) “Yeah, they have to get a storm in the story to make it feel more dramatic” ((well, you are not wrong but…))
“Ezra is here! Everybody run-!… HAHAHHAHA look how AP5 runs! HAHAHAHAH!”
“oh… is that… IS THAT BENDU?…”
“Ezra has a space suit!! HOW COOL!”
“Bendu is really going to attack both sides… Kanan better run. He’s reaaally angry at him”
“He’s the light, the dark, the one in the middle… it would be better if he was the one in charge of everything, instead of the Emperor. There wouldn’t be any fights” (( I’m… not sure about that))
“HAH! Thrawn thinks he can kill Bendu!… He-…what…he shot him down? WHAT!??? HE CAN’T DO THAT!”
“Is Pryce really going to throw him out to space??” ((did you catch Kallus’ smile there?)) “Yes! Maybe those two troopers are also spies of the Rebellion and they are going to help him escape!?” ((Erh… keep watching)) “Oh, well, that’s ok too… he’s very good fighting after all… only Thrawn has defeated him that badly”
“Is time to flee!”
“Do you see that Pryce!?? HUH! IN YOUR FACE! THEY ARE ESCAPING IN YOUR FACE! UUHH!! WOOOOOH!! [dances in front of the tv]”
[Bendu dissapears] “Heh…surprised, Thrawn?”
“Aaaaw… I don’t think I ever heard someone praising Kallus for a job well done like that… this is great, they are so accepting”
“They will make it happen!”
EXTRA:
Reaction to the Season 4 trailer: “Wait- wait… ’End like this’? Does- does she mean like 'in a good way’ or 'a bad way’?” ((…we don’t know…)) “Woah, this is very fast paced, very epic! Looks great!”
When told Season 4 is the last one: “WHAT!? WHY? Rebels is so good! What are they thinking? I still want more! They can’t do this!” [excruciating sounds]
When shown Forces of Destiny announcement and dolls: “They look amazing! I want to watch that series too and I want the dolls for Sabine, Ahsoka and Hera… there IS a Hera doll, right??” ((I sure hope so kiddo))
In general, I’m really freaking nervous with Season 4 because Kanan is pretty much her favorite character, and in her eyes Hera and Kanan are definitely together, being Ezra’s adoptive mom and dad. Her crying when Ezra fainted in Visions and Voices caught me completely off guard. He had just fainted. Dear lord, I don’t want think the problem I’m going to have in my hands with her mom if she returns home an emotional mess if they die. I don’t know about other target audience, but she made it clear to me during Rogue One that they MUST be alive. And I’m just here, praying and hoping she’s right.

Ex’s
So I was wondering what it would be like if Kanan ran into one of his ex-girlfriends, so I wrote it down.
Enjoy
It was a busy day in the streets of Lothal. Kanan, Hera, Zeb, Sabine and Ezra were in Capital City’s biggest market looking for some much needed supplies. They had been eating ration packs for the past few weeks and everyone was sick of it. Well, everyone except Hera. After all these years Kanan was still surprised at how delighted she would get when any type of food was put in front of her, even if it made the rest of them want to puke, and they were no strangers to hunger either.
Kanan scanned the different fruit and vegetable stands looking for the ingredients necessary for a stew he hadn’t had in years. For some reason, he was really craving it recently. It went back to his days as a bachelor, working on some diner in a backwater world. He wasn’t a bad cook. People seemed to really like his food and, hey, he liked it too.
He was going through the recipe in his head when Sabine’s voice interrupted his train of thought.
“Kanan?”
It came from behind him, turning around to look at her he found her staring at him with a strange pleading look in her eyes.
“Yeah?” he responded.
“There’s an art store there” she said, gesturing towards it, “Can I go check it out?”
Oh of course. Art supplies. As if she doesn’t have enough already, he thought musing to himself. But he was in a good mood, and Sabine was a good kid. She deserved it. “Sure”
“Can I go with her?” Ezra said.
“Yeah, sure. I’ll go with you guys. Zeb! Hera!” He called back “Keep looking for the supplies we’ll be right back” At Zeb’s grumbling response they went on their way.
The art store wasn’t much. It mostly had traditional paints used for Lothal folklore art (Kanan was surprised the Empire hadn’t cracked down on that yet). It also had drawing pencils, sketchbooks, water paints, etc… Pretty regular art store if you ask him, but, of course, Kanan was never much of an artist.
As soon as they got to the store, Sabine launched herself into the place. Her eyes glued to the different materials in the various shelves. While, Ezra mysteriously stayed at his side staring at the store from where they were both standing. Silent. Huh
“So…” Kanan ventured, raising an eyebrow.
“So what?”
“Aren’t you gonna go take a look?”
“Oh no…” He shrugged “I’m not much of an artist. Besides, I just wanted to get out of the streets. My hands get itchy when I’m around big crowds”
Kanan hummed and nodded in understanding. After years in the streets, pickpocketing was as natural to Ezra as breathing, he had needed it to survive. Shaking the habit must be tough, but he was still making the effort, which they all appreciated. The less attention drawn to themselves the better.
“You should still get something” Kanan insisted, “You could use a hobby”, which was true, Ezra was a busy kid. Between missions and training, Kanan wondered what he did whenever he did have time off.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean something to do in your spare time, you’re really busy. You could use something to help you cool off you know?”
“I already have hobbies”
Well, that was a lie if he’d ever heard one.
“Really?”, Kanan said, incredulously, “Like what?”
“Uhhhh… I clean the ship”
“That’s your hobby?”
“Yeah…”
“And you actually enjoy doing it?”
“Yes” Ezra said, with as much fake confidence as he could muster. Crossing his arms across his puffed chest.
“Then why do you whine every time Hera asks you to do it?”
“Uhhhh… it’s… you know…”
“Ezra” Kanan interrupted him, Ezra had clearly lost this battle “Go pick something, I’ve seen you doodle I know you like it”
“It’s fine, Kanan” He said, in an exasperated tone, “It’s money we could spend on something else”
Kanan sighed, So that’s what this is about then. The kid still had trouble letting other people take care of him, but this was an old argument. He pinched the bridge of his nose, took a deep breath and released it.
“Ezra”, Kanan said, slowly and patiently “We’ve talked about this. It’s no trouble”
Ezra sighed then looked up at him “Are you sure?”
“Yes!” He responded, chuckling slightly “Go!” he encouraged Ezra by pushing him slightly with his hand on his back.
Before Ezra went to explore he turned around “Hey Kanan?”
“Yeah?”
“Thanks”
The made him smile “No problem, kid”
The minutes ticked by as the kids went through apparently every item this store had to offer, leaving Kanan alone. He rested his back against the wall and closed his eyes. Today was a good day. It was just him and the kids and no one was going to attack them. Today was a luxury.
He smiled to himself. They really were like a family. He did consider them his kids.
“Oh my gods! Kanan?” A familiar voice cut him out of his trance and made him open his eyes.
The sight was of a dark skinned woman with deep blue eyes and a curly long hair. One that he recognized.
“Jadah?!”
Before he could say anything else a sharp pain struck him across the face. Yep, he was pretty sure he was gonna be walking around with a handprint on his face for the rest of the day. He instinctively reached up to grab it, trying to soothe it.
“Ok,ok” he muttered, putting his free palm up in defeat. “I deserved that”
He did. He really did.
“Yeah you certainly did” She said, as if echoing his thoughts. “After what you did to me I’d say you deserve more”
“What did he do?” Sabine’s voice came from behind him. He turned around to see her and Ezra standing right behind him, art supplies long forgotten. Great, he thought. Just perfect.
He had kept drunken past mostly hidden from the kids. He wasn’t proud of it. It was a dark time in his life. And now his past was staring at him in the face, in the form of a very beautiful woman who he had slept with a few alcohol-fueled nights then left behind as soon as he could. Although, in his defense, he had thought that she was a little insane at the time.
“Well, for starters, he...”
“WOW WOW WOW”, he interrupted her as soon as she started speaking, he doubted anything she was going to say was appropriate for the kids. His breakup with Jadah (or, well, his leaving Jadah) was due to a horrible misunderstanding. One that he did not want to explain in front Sabine and Ezra, “They don’t need to hear it”
“They don’t need to hear WHAT, Kanan?!” She snapped “The fact that you propose to me then left without so much as a note?”
“Ugghh” he groaned. Rubbing his face with his hand. He really wished the kids weren’t here.
“Wow Kanan” Said Sabine behind him
“I didn’t propose” he muttered into his hands
“What?” Jadah said, clearly annoyed
“I didn’t propose!”
“Oh yeah right now you’re just denying it!”
“No, I am not!”
“Oh yeah? How was I supposed to interpret ‘I want to marry you?’ huh?”
“I said COULD, I COULD marry you!” then he leaned in a spoke between clenched teeth “And considering the situation we were in I wouldn’t have taken it very seriously”. They had been together three nights the ‘incident’ happened in the last one.
“Oh so you’re saying I’m the fool for thinking you loved me while I had my lips around your...”
“Can we PLEASE not do this in front of the kids?” He interrupted.
“WOW Kanan” Said Sabine again, this time there was a slight chuckle in her voice.
“Sabine!” He said warningly, shooting her a look. Ezra looked puzzled. She just looked amused
“Who are these kids anyway?” She questioned, frowning as she said it, “Are they yours?”
“Uhhhh….”He hesitated, looking back at them. They just shrugged “Kinda?”
“What? How old were you when you got her pregnant? 13?”
“I’m taking care of them.”
“Who’s dumb enough to entrust you with their kids?”
“I’m a different person now.”
“HA! Like I would believe that”
“I am.”
“Really?  What sort of life changing decisions have you made since we last saw each other?”
“I quit drinking” Karabast, the kids would now know he was a drunk. Great. Just fantastic.
Jadah was taken aback, her eyebrows flew up in visible surprise “Wow” was all she could say. They hadn’t been together for that long, but she knew the type, the drunk drifter. Who spent all the money they won on booze. But she had given herself to him in hopes he would be different, she was thoroughly disappointed.
“Yeah” He said, grabbing his neck with one hand, looking down. “It became a real issue”
“Well what changed?
As if on cue Hera’s voice cut his response. “Kanan are you in here? What’s taking so long?,” As she saw the scene before her there was a slight pause and the she asked “What’s going on?”
Kanan sighed, then “She did”. Zeb was right behind her. Now everyone would see him humiliate himself. Great!
Hera walked over to Kanan’s side, put an arm around his waist and gave him a questioning look. He just gestured to Jadah in response, he was red. She then raised her free hand towards Jadah, inviting her to shake it. “Hey, I’m Hera”
“Jadah” She said, accepting the invitation.
“So… you and Kanan are… what exactly?” She said, a slow smirk tugging at the side of her lips.
Kanan turned to glare at her. Of course she knew what they were. She was probably enjoying this.
“Someone who he owes an apology to”
“Huh! I bet he does” She laughed and gave Kanan the do-this-or-no-sex-for-a-month look, at that point he didn’t have much of a choice.
“Listen, Jadah. I’m sorry, I really am. I was an asshole back then and you deserve to hate me. I am a different guy now. Hera and I have lived together for six years now and we have our own little family. I don’t deserve your forgiveness, I know, but… I’m still asking for it” He meant every word.
Hera’s arm tightened around his waist, she looked up at him and smiled. There was pride in her eyes. He smiled back.
“Wow, so you have changed.” Jadah said in disbelief.
“I have” He shrugged.
“Apology accepted.” She smiled.
He reached away from raise his arms in invitation for a hug. She accepted and hugged him then pulled back
“Have a nice life, Kanan”
“You too”
And the she walked away.
They all watched her leave and then Kanan sighed and buried his head in his hands. That had been embarrassing and a reminder of the time of his life when he was wandering pointlessly around the galaxy hurting people in the process. It was not a nice reminder. The one thing that made it better was when Hera put her arms around his waist again and nestled by his side. “You did good” she whispered. Yes, he would always be grateful for her. Without her he’d probably be dead in a ditch somewhere. Death by alcohol. Or drugs. Or worse.
He leaned his head against Hera’s and their foreheads touched. He closed his eyes and focused on her presence, that always managed to calm him down. They were both enjoying the silence Sabine’s uncontrolled laughter broke it.
“YOU…” She said in between breaths “You… proposed…while… while… SHE WAS GIVING YOU A BLOWJOB?!” and now everyone was laughing. Even the store manager who, apparently, had been listening to the whole thing. Kanan wanted the ground to swallow him up, or a lighting to strike or really anything at this point.
Hera was doing her best to contain her laughter but some giggles slipped out. She gave him a sympathetic grin and said “Come on, luv. Let’s go home.”

whats good dorter now do swr for that meme
the first character i ever fell in love with: Agent Kallus. It was either the promo video or the actual pilot episode itself, but in all likelihood, the sideburns were probably involved somehow. If anything, I will say that the second character is Tua, the moment she stepped into the shuttle way back in DoD. Like, yo.
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: Darth Maul. But his usage of his EXPERIMENT 2000 DEGREE KNIFE on Kanan’s eyes, Ezra’s innocence, but most importantly, the Inquisition, is the last straw.
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: Kanan/Seventh, since FPJ and SMG are married, yeah. Didn’t last long, since now it’s Fifth/Seventh and I don’t particularly trust a majority of the fanbase anymore to make legible, sane, and legal fanwork where Kanan isn’t in a relationship with Hera/where Seventh is in a relationship at all. Yikes.
my ultimate favorite character™: don’t make me choose
prettiest character: All the female characters look good, and as for the ‘handsome’ kind of pretty, Kallus, Kanan, and the prettiest Lasat in the Galaxy.
my most hated character: Kind of hard to like the I/r/o/n Squadron, since their episode had poor characterization for them, building solely off of them being S1 Ezra clones. They could definitely improve though! And I do have a few headcanons on what they’ve been up to since that episode.
* And I definitely LOVE Zeb, that’s why I hate how they keep… ‘minimizing’ him? Like in “Warhead”, as funny as it was, I didn’t like that the crew and the others were like 'woah you can think?’, 'that was actually very smart of you!’, 'ugh can’t you take charge of the base for one day without trouble’, etc. The writers are obviously trying to show us that Zeb is much more than muscle, but c'mon, really? This kind of stuff is how you treat the audience like they’re goldfish as well as disrespecting the character. Instead of conveying the message that 'Zeb is both smart and strong!’, it comes off more as 'Zeb is strong, but secretly smart!’ or something condescending like that.
my OTP: Mallus, yeah yeah yeah whatever
my NOTP: S/a/b/3/z/r/a, it seems clear to be that they’re just supposed to be like brother and sister. I don’t like a majority of the shippers because they seem to be missing the point (like I remember reading the comments of a clip of where Sabine hug-grabs Ezra in the jetpack chase scene and 90% of it was full of shippers that I swear couldn’t have been older than 12.), but I will say that I like some of the fanart.
favorite episode: “Droids In Distress” (I don’t know, I just watched it a lot back then; in hindsight, I’d say it was a good start to the show), “Empire Day”, “The Honorable Ones”, “The Forgotten Droid” (again, I don’t know, I just liked AP’s and Chopper’s dynamic), “An Inside Man”, “Trials of the Darksaber”, I can safely say “Through Imperial Eyes” because Kallus rests in pepperoni. 😎
saddest death: Hearing Tua died in tSoL way back during Celebration 2015 hit me pretty hard, actually.
favorite season: Season 1 + parts of Season 3, mainly the latter half so far.
least favorite season: Season 2 + the timeskip/transition to Season 3, because it felt like it was rushed; there’s a disconnect between the episodes, especially in the latter half (I suspect it’s due to the writers still being in a TCW mindset, where arcs with completely different stories happened one after the other — not that I’m saying that it’s okay for the writers to do, especially because their intent is obviously for SWR to be in a different format. It’s just that I can see why it happened and I hope that at this point in time, they can at least learn from their mistakes…).
So because of that, new information and the problems are just rapid-fire out of pretty much nowhere instead of foreshadowed or anything like that as well as being solved in a flash, like:
* Hera’s some years of father-daughter estrangement with Cham are dealt with in one episode.* The Inquisitors should’ve done more to build up their credibility, like I thought Seventh was gonna be a rival to Kanan and challenge him as a master to Ezra, but I guess that got given to Maul in the S2 finale.* Fifth is apparently blind, but they didn’t do nothing with that, they could’ve foreshadowed something about it with Kanan, and they also seemed like he was gonna be Seventh’s rival or something (at the time, I imagined it like Ventress and Grievous during TCW), but he ended up just being her lackey.* But no, and then everyone in-universe was like 'eh’, so that ended up being reciprocated by the audience as well.* Also, while we’re on that topic, as 'memetic’ as it was, helisabers really did worsen their credibility than it already was.* I honestly was kind of on the fence about Sabine for a while, since I didn’t like that nothing at least semi-permanently bad happened to her until Season 3 and I just generally don’t like haughty characters that don’t seem to struggle.* Kallus being smug for like the first half of tHO like he’s always been up to that point, and then when he tells his backstory, that attitude is GONE for the rest of the show and then we don’t even get to see the transition from him as a loyal and ruthless Imperial that seemed to enjoy the hunt, to someone who is about the exact opposite.* Ezra’s storyline suffers from something similar, like it looked like it was going somewhere with obsessing with the Sith Holocron and/or doing much more questionable things, but that only gets touched upon in SoS because all of it already happened during the timeskip, so by the time we see Ezra, it’s instead just an excuse for the writers to start having him do more action-y stuff and be problematic (like tWJ).
I like most of the ideas behind them, it’s just that there’s definitely much more to be desired out of them. Yeah, I guess they could do a novel/short story/whatever about these things like the timeskip developments, but that seems kind of sloppy, telling the explanation afterwards instead of showing it when it was the most relevant. I want the writers to respect their characters (and therefore, us) more. It’s certainly possible to do, but it’s not constant; it just comes and goes, as seen here and in TCW.
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: I definitely like/love Chopper, but the memes about him being a Dark Lord or a Darth undercover or whatever are being run into the ground.
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: Agent Kallus, Governor Pryce. Inquisitors technically didn’t make the choice to be this way, so I didn’t count them here.
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: the Inquisitors. And Tua.
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: Mallus, Fifth/Seventh, yeah.
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: Kanera.
