Thoughts on G3 promotion

I really would like to know what the marketing strategy is right now for monster high g3 because rn all the official socials are majority g1 dolls and the collector dolls. Are they relying fully on the Nick cartoon, YouTube short animations, and the movies? Is that truly enough to pull in a new generation of fans?

idk? Because MAYBE that is enough for young kids. Then the social media strategy is maybe to only cater to the “Monster High alumni” fans. WHICH IS INTERESTING because it almost seems like they didn't think we would like the dolls, which we DO. SO MUCH. As the intent was G3 dolls for a new generation of kids and Collector/ higher end dolls for the older fans. G3 marketing putting more focus and their entertainment avenues for the kids and G1 relying on nostalgia.

The alumni fans want to show support for the new dolls too. We want social media posts about the new doll lines. Posts that don’t originate with leaks and fans. From the outside looking in WITHOUT the recognition of their strats toward their target audience of young children. It LOOKS like the older fans are doing all the work and the team behind the new dolls doesn’t care. Which is far from the truth.

tl;dr

Mattel is building the new generation of monster high fans through the movie and TV franchises with Nick as well as on YouTube.

They made G3 with the intent that these were for the kids and the collector dolls were for the adult collectors

They (possibly) did not factor in that the adult collectors would love the new dolls too and have not met the social media bridge to interact with this fanbase. Instead, circling G1 nostalgia with little to no recent promotion of the new doll lines causing confusion.

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #wen qing #wen ning #WWX's main weapon as the Yiling patriarch is considered to be 'Wen Ning' - which makes sense as far as the whole necromancer thing goes.#However...That *is* Wen Qing's beloved baby brother!#In her perspective WWX skipped town for a few days (or so) and took WN with him #only for them both to show up bloodied and in a state of disarray.#There's no way he told her he was going out to duel Jiang Cheng. For several reasons.#He doesn't want to involve her in his messes anymore than he already has.#It's less that she would try and stop him and more so that he honestly wouldn't even think to say something about it to her.#WQ and him aren't partners in this situation. He actually openly disregards her opinions several times.#Wei Wuxian's emotional distance from everyone around him is a big part of this arc.#Like all good tragedies...his biggest flaw is his hubris. He doesn't *need* anyone when he's so capable on his own.#He doesn't need to ask permission when obviously this is the only way forwards.#He has to do it all on his own! No one else needs to be involved!#And if you've been in the position of realizing you have a problem of toxic self-reliance - you know how harmful this mindset is.#It's why it's so satisfying to see WWX in his 'new' life start to let other's share his burdens.#I will die on the hill of 'love means carrying each other's weight. All a burden means is that I can give you support and you support me.'#YLLZ is less 'competent and sexy' and more 'depressed and can't see it'.#Another lovely nod to the main theme here is how he starts leaning more and more into the rumours about him.#Though we are also still confronted with how these rumours fail to actually live up to reality.#Rumour has it the Yiling Patriarch is undefeatable. What a shame if that rumour turned out to be untrue!

Episode Seven and White Tears

The trial's allegory is not just a lynching, it is a lynching for a Black person entering a relationship with a respected White man, and proceeding to leave him. It's not a murder case, as seen through the show, there's actually very little emphasis on the murder in the episode in regards to Louis. The emphasis is on his "seduction", his "ungiving nature", and "refusing to give his body". It is a public humiliation and lynching for turning a respected white man down. The crime isn't hurting Lestat, it's hurting his feelings.

Lestat doesn't speak to the audience about the pain of his throat being slit. He speaks of loneliness, the audience chants and jeers about how cheating was justified if Louis isn't putting out. Santiago isn't talking about the murder, he's talking about how much of a sexual deviant Louis is the second he is introduced. The show is telling us what's important to the case, and what language hurt and stuck out to Louis the most. The deciding factor in the eyes of the audience, the story that Sam and Santiago are trying to tell, is that the crime is heinous because Louis turned down Lestat.

The audience isn't mad about the murder, they're mad about Lestat's emotions, they're mad about the betrayal, and they are mad that Louis and Claudia didn't put up with things. The case built against the two of them isn't based on violence, it's based on white tears. Louis isn't called a monster for slitting Lestat's throat, the audience member calls him a monster for turning down Lestat's advances.

The show is clear that the trial isn't really about the murder, it is about Louis not "giving enough" for Lestat. It's about Louis asking Lestat to turn Claudia and literally bargaining his happiness where he literally gets on his knees and says "I'll be happy for you, I will never leave you if you do this for me". It's never been about the murder, it's quite literally just shaming Louis for not "loving a good man who might be abusive".

At the end of the day, the trial as framed and written by Sam is building a case off of Lestat's tears, not actual physical harm.

Like my skin is crawling but also the show is so chilling with how it portrayed the "He's a good man so hold your tongue and endure! Lest you read as ungrateful".

Anyways someone take the laptop from me before this becomes my life.

Something I really like about timebomb is that Ekko actually knows what he's getting into.

I'm not really seeing it get talked about but in season 1 they mention that Ekko and the firelights help people addicted to shimmer get off it and lead more fulfilling lives within the community. I should probably rewatch the scene for the exact wording (might be misremembering tbh) but that comment implies A LOT.

First: Ekko's mission is helping people where he can, he would probably try and help Jinx even if he wasn't in love with her

Second: He has experience dealing with severe mental illness as that often goes hand in hand with drug abuse, namely depression/suicidal ideation like what Jinx was exhibiting

Third: He's probably mapped out best course of action FOR dealing with this and has already figured out his own limits/boundaries. Meaning he knew what he was getting into trying to talk Jinx out of suicide, and was thus more equipped to deal with the aftermath

Fourth: He's probably helped ex members of Silco's gang. The firelights seem to have a theme of healing and repairing and recovering, so they've probably also learned to forgive. If they're mission is to rebuild the lanes into a safe space, they can't exclude people they don't like, they have to make room for them. I think they fought Silco out of necessity, and I doubt Jinx would be the first person they help who's killed one of them.

These all might be a bit of a stretch but I think it really fits. Beyond that, it shows that Ekko can ACTUALLY help Jinx. As much as unconditional love can do, Ekko has the tools for Jinx's recovery and a path ready for her. He also probably knows that her "healthy" will look different from AU Powder's "healthy." On top of that, I expect he knows how to respect her even in the middle of psychotic breaks and won't agitate her already frail mental state

I have a hard time reading her but a lot of the vibes I get off her feel like she just likes having the power #over vi #I KNOW THAT'S A STRONG CLAIM #hear me out #Vi in her search for unconditional love does a lot of enabling #a good example is when Caitlyn arrests that henchman in episode 3(?)#Vi is VISIBLY uncomfortable with that and for good reason!#Caitlyn just locked someone up for life for... nothing?#kinda like Marcus did to her (yes Marcus was trying to protect her but I doubt that's how Vi sees it)#but Vi doesn't voice this or push Caitlyn on it #instead she asks Caitlyn not to change #not great communication on Vi's part #but also indicative of how little their values align #and how little Caitlyn actually considers Vi and her problems and history #Caitlyn doesn't help Vi heal and she turns on Vi the second Vi stops enabling her and letting Caitlyn do as she thinks is best #neither of them are ready to deal with the others problems or communicate well #again. willing to discuss this. my opinions are swayable.#I just personally found Caitlyn made the most sense and was most compelling when she was going down facist dictator path #sure she could be more but I don't think the show ever really transitioned her away from that #you can see it in the way she treats Maddy #hhhhhh I should go to bed rather than spill every last thought I've ever had

This artwork (link below) is giving me sooo many ideas for jayvik x hp crossovers, especially post s2 …. I used to be SUCH A FIEND for harry potter crossover fics (still a fiend for crossover fics in gen) and it would be so cool if like after jayvik get zapped away by the stone they come out the other side in the hp universe and then have to learn how to navigate this world where magic exists?? But in a different form from the arcane and its revered in a way?? and an entire secret society and school exists just to teach kids magic?? And in this school theres no tech, no engineering?? Plus not to mention all the political bs as well omg

And how would they get involved with the school in first place…maybe they pop right into the school? I wish i remembered more from the books bc i feel like theres totally an event i could use but I just can’t remember much outside from like the first two books 😭

If anyone wants to brainstorm with me feel free bc like i said i loooooveee crossovers and now that im finally on break (and i have adderall now) I think i might actually start some fics

The more I think about it, the more I think that Persuasion has my favorite premise of all of Jane Austen's novels

Anne Elliot as a character speaks to my soul. She feels tremendous guilt for a decision she made eight years ago. Her life is lonely, as she doesn't really have anyone she can truly confide in despite being surrounded by people. So she swallows her pain, the yearning she feels deep in her soul, and vows that if nothing else at least she'll be helpful.

And of course she is reunited with Frederick Wentworth (the one that got away) who seems to hate her now, and she just keeps going. She keeps being kind and supporting her loved ones while slowly carving out a life for herself. There's something about her classic heroism that just feels so attainable. I don't have Elizabeth Bennett's wit, or Jane Bennett's unwavering belief in the goodness of everyone, or even Elinor's constant composure. But I can be like Anne and just keep moving forward attempting to be helpful

Of course it all works out in the end, and Anne is finally surrounded by people who truly appreciate her, even if she had to wait an extra eight years. Others have observed the fairy tale quality of the ending, and perhaps that's why it speaks to me. The idea that if you just keep doing your best and being kind, you'll eventually find happiness

y’know i was talking about genderfluidity and trying to find a way to make my body as satisfying as possible for me with my mom and i mentioned not wanting top surgery but instead wanting to get tattoos of the scars and she worried about it coming off as offensive to other trans folks or people who’ve had mastectomies. SO i figured i’d ask the people of these communities myself!

*a realistic tattoo would be designed to look as accurate to actual scars as possible, whereas a stylized tattoo would be more cartoony- think the “eyelash/starburst” scars you see in a lot of transmasc art

reblogging for sample size would help me out a ton with gauging community opinions and such but obvi there’s no pressure :] just looking to know how ppl feel! thanks in advance folks

everybody/npcs being obsessed with dorian and callin him good looking and stuff, he gets all bashful and orym silently smiles.

orym talking to dorian with such a soft voice when speaking of his opal experience. “i know that was a nightmare for you…” UGHH.

laudna suggests they all have funerals for each other. to say what they need to say. robbie and liam sharing a glance???

whenever dorian interacts with his dragon horse, orym always looks so admiringly at dorian.

the way orym remembered how dorian vowed to not abandon the big task in front of his father, and then repeating that they all are okay with taking on the weight- WHILE GLANCING TOWARDS DORIAN, who nods shortly after.

AGH dorian charming chetney!!! the sillies!!!!

just wanna mention how fucking amazing dorian was playing that music for all of the military/war camps. it shows his character so much. and everyone, including liam, was SOOO into it. the little things robbie chooses to make dorian do, because “there’s no other choice”. matt describing how dorian’s presence just uplifts the entire encampment….

dorian laughing when coming back from his small trip, all jolly and happy, positive about him and his friends and the journey ahead. orym making a surprised but ultimately happy face when dorian arrives.

”is this goodbye?” “no this is a go get em.” BADASS.

not orym’s family members recognizing and greeting dorian immediately. holy shit. sick. unwell. yelling. screaming.

braius dragging dorian away to have a secret conversation with him about the group HAHAHA

I'm not a big fan of the interpretation that hinako had no idea about what was going on behind the scenes of kazui's stage, or atleast the feeling I get from how some people talk about her like she was completely naive or in the dark

I mean, half shows their relationship straining quite clearly. they're shown on opposite sides of the room, not even facing each other. I feel like any partner would start to wonder and have doubts about why things aren't the same as they used to be, why their love isn't spending as much time with them anymore and starting to pick up habits associated with Drowning One's Sorrows in (drinking and smoking)

No, I think she most definitely had her doubts. I think she brushed these aside, justifying them with the whole "he would never" shebang, I mean kazui was the one who asked her out in the first place so surely not? Right?

I think it makes her reaction contextualised a lot more, and it makes more sense to me.

This isn't the face of just someone realising their partner has never romantically loved them, it's also the face of someone whose deepest worries, that they brushed away because they trusted their partner, being proven right.

#based on nothing except my own opinion. obviously #you think the best of the people you love and all that. you brush your anxieties aside and shake your head “no / thats impossible”#so . those worries being proven RIGHT? you were right all along? yeah. that would definitely send me spiralling #not that i dont think the other scenario wouldnt ofc but i feel like hinako being completely in the dark would have to be supported by the >#fact that their relationship is shown to be only perfect which just isnt the case when you look at half #thats why im less inclined to believe it !#milgram #hinako mukuhara
