#i was toying with the idea of the primes actually not being able to follow when optimus is far from cybertron

Note
we're just oblivious to these demigods seeing our humble species.
YEAH already the autbots themselves are so very big and so very old that it's hard for the humans to wrap their mind around it, so very few can begin to understand what it means when optimus tells them his family is much, much older (and taller :/) than he or most of his friends
also i'm stuck with the mental image of one of their humans being completely in awe of the sheer size of the autobots, especially optimus, and saying something along the lines of "there must be little that can make you feel small, uh?" and optimus being like "you'd be surprised :|" because he's literally being used as armrest by solus as they speak
but you are absolutely right about them being so, so, so glad to see optimus bouncing back after losing cybertron, even if it involves squishy, weird looking tiny aliens. they're just grateful there's something that can make optimus smile agan even if it's not nearly the same as before
(and oh does it ache to know that even their before isn't really what optimus used to be. that they never got to know their youngest at his brightest, that they only met him when he'd already tasted death and betrayal and heartbreak)
they're especially relieved because they too are dealing with the fact that they couldn't save their world again. they too are grieving their planet and all the lives that were lost with it. they too are struggling to keep going after everything that happened.
and, perhaps not the worst of all but certainly the closest to heart, they failed optimus. they were supposed to guide him, to support him, to help him lead their world to a better future. and they failed.
they weren't enough then and they doubt they could be enough now
so when optimus latches onto a tiny, primitive, weird little species that nonetheless brings him a meassure of joy, they cannot help but be grateful at the unexpected lifeline they were granted.
they do kinda wish he could've chosen something less squishy. or delicate. they would even settle for a longer lifespan at least OTL
so what would the primes think of humans?
it kinda depends on who you ask but in general they find them just. very tiny. and squishy looking.
some like onyx and quintus find them kinda cute. others like prima and amalgamous think they're kinda ugly but in a cute way. liege just thinks they're plain ugly. he learns to appreciate them in his own way but he never stops finding them a little weird.
solus is impressed by how much things they can do and how much destruction they can create when they're so tiny and their technology so lacking. their tech is soooo primitive but she's making grabby hands at some of those explosives to see what they can do.
zeta is grateful solus cannot in fact get her hands on any of those explosives.
and megatronus is for once glad he's incorporeal. just the thought of how careful he would have to be to not step on them at all times stresses him out.
#tfone#haunted au#optimus prime#tfp primes#i was toying with the idea of the primes actually not being able to follow when optimus is far from cybertron#because they're technically still bound to primus and the well of all sparks#but honestly. that was too depressing.#imagine having to lose not only your planet but also all your family and support system in the same day.#i do like optimus to suffer and carry an unbearable sadness he can never quite put down. but i have my limits ajskdhkads#so instead i think the primes have a harder time manifesting when off cybertron#only one of them can manifest at a time without putting a strain on OP#and all of them manifesting at once is a special occasion only done when OP can afford to be vulnerable#prima would still have the easiest time doing it but even he struggles more than he used to#they're all still around tho. they can speak to him from inside the matrix with no issue. it's just... a little bit lonelier to not speak t#them face to face like he used to.

Rick Prime & the Central Finite Curve
When the Central Finite Curve was built...
A) ...did it target the universes in which the following is true:
"Rick of X universe is the smartest man in said X universe, therefore X universe is part of the Curve"
(this seems to be the case, because BOTH C-137 AND Prime universes were caught in the Curve, and we know one of them was Rick-less because Rick Prime was dimension hopping and Rick C-137 occupied one or the other)
B) ...or did it ALSO target the universes in which this is true:
"Rick of the X universe has moved in Y universe (which NEVER had a Rick), and is currently the smartest man in Y universe, therefore Y universe is part of the Central Finite Curve"
(in which case shouldn't it ALSO trap Rick Prime, who was busy hopping dimensions?)
Wouldn't options A AND B make sense? I mean, if B isn't true, given Ricks' affinity for hopping dimensions, it's a really poorly made Curve. Rick Prime could skedaddle ANYWHERE and he wouldn't get trapped inside the Curve when it took effect/was built.
But... Rick Prime seemed to be OUTSIDE the Central Finite Curve, at least when we last saw him.
Rick C-137 recommenced his search after Evil Morty brought down the Central Finite Curve. Is that a coincidence? Was the realization that Rick Prime had been outside the Curve all along the reason Rick C-137 had given up the search of him?
HOWEVER, at the same time, Rick C-137 told AI Ghost Diane that Rick Prime is "not findable" after the Curve was brought down. If the issue was that Rick Prime had been outside the Curve all along and Rick C-137 was aware of that, wouldn't he have immediately realized that Rick Prime is find-able now that the Curve is down? Instead he didn't seem to care about that, or at least he never mentioned it. The actual moment he decided to target Rick Prime again was when he realized Rick Prime was stuck in the Prime dimension...!
Did he have no idea whether Rick Prime was inside or outside the Curve???
...Anyway, I'm getting out of track. The point I wanted to make is:
If Rick Prime wasn't caught inside the Central Finite Curve when it was built...
...doesn't that mean that Rick Prime was in a universe where he wasn't the smartest man in the Universe?
Doesn't that mean he was in a universe where there was someone smarter than him??
Because it starts to reason that, among the Universes outside the Central Finite Curve, there are:
Universes where no Rick has ever been (e.g. because earth was destroyed by an asteroid and all life was erased, or because Rick's parents never met etc)
Universes where there's someone ever smarter.
And what had Rick Prime been doing this whole time until Rick C-137 killed him...?
...had he been toying with other... "big fish"...?
...had he been toying with bigger fish?
Was he picking up fights with other super-intelligent beings, singling them out and defeating them one by one?
(and will any of those target Evil Morty, which is my main concern lol)

This particular assignment is one I've been looking forward to for a while. 3D is something I've wanted to (and tried) learn to implant into my art for a long time now, especially as I feel it will help me to feel more comfortable with environments. Several years ago I started learning blender through youtube tutorials (starting of course with blender guru's donut) and Udemy courses to help with my concept art. Every time I would start to get comfortable with the software when some horrible part of my brain would convince me I was taking time away from making portfolio pieces so I could apply for open positions. So I'd revert to just using digital painting, which would move slowly thanks to my full time job, then by the time I got back to blender I'd basically need to relearn the basics. So I'm happy to have an assignment specifically telling me and my internal voice of self doubt that I HAVE to be learning 3D (3rd or maybe 4th time's the charm).
The fist thing I did was basically just play around inside blender seeing what I could remember myself. I also pulled up some of my old Blender files and tried to replicate things I'de done in them. Using basic meshes, the A.N.T. addon, nodes, modifiers and other techniques that I was able to scrape some rust off I set up a few basic scenes (apparently I only save the 2 above though).
Something I had played with before that I wanted to play around with was was creating underwater scenes as it allows you to work on creating interesting lighting situations and volumes. I also thought a sunken city might make for a fun bases for an environment piece. So I followed the Max Hay tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX2gOPm5YIA&t=76s) Leo had suggested in class to pull in a section of NYC to start, and used A.N.T. to create a plane with hight variations that would allow some buildings to look more buried than others. I actually originally tried using my old neighborhood on Boston, but it lacked the verticality of NYC which really helps to sell "city." Then I followed a tutorial by CG Geek (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxWJqMJdL04) to learn how to ad caustics and make the scene look like it was underwater. Then I decided I needed the buildings to look more run down, so I found some post apocalyptic models online and started adding them in one by one until I started wondering if I could distribute them like sprinkles on a donut and went back to Blender Guru (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLrA6eJOfqk&list=PLjEaoINr3zgEPv5y--4MKpciLaoQYZB1Z&index=6, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWTOy5-e4Ns&list=PLjEaoINr3zgEPv5y--4MKpciLaoQYZB1Z&index=7).
During my tutorial with Neal brought up the point that depending how deep I intended the city to be it might make more sense for there to be less light. So after I played around with the density of of the volume nodes being used, and tried to scale down the caustics to make the whole scene look less like it was a toy in a tub. I also spent some time moving around the model trying to find interesting angles, as it's something I've been trying to work on through the semester. On Neals recommendation I also started watching Nautilus on Prime, to see how they handle light underwater, and take a look at some of their creature designs.
Next I wanted to make sure I spent some of my time learning ZBrush so I started following a beginner's tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzDIxMnZ_Po) demonstrating how to sculpt a demon's bust. While following the tutorial I took liberties, trying to make it my own and come up with something that would fit within the city I was working on. Then I continued pushing the bust further after the tutorial was done. It's a small thing but coming around to the idea of working on my own piece during a tutorial is enormously helpful for me. One of the reasons I always pulled myself away from learning 3D in the past is that I followed lessons so closely that I knew I wasn't making anything original and shouldn't use it for my portfolio.
Now that I had a bust for a character I was starting to like I needed to learn how to make a body. So with the help of yet another tutorial I learned how to make one using zspheres (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3W3cX9hvyA&t=3s). I figured out how to merge the two models myself, and based on some issues I had as I modeled the torso I'll probably need to better learn how to do it in the future.
After I had the model where I liked it (which might be further than is really necessary for concept art, but was helpful for learning), I worked on some different color schemes for the character based on various fish that I sound interesting. Initially I tried using a layer set to color blend mode, then gradient maps, but neither really worked the way I hoped. So I ended up using screen blend mode and doing a quick paintover for each, which is why I just did the face, as it saved time and doing more wasn't strictly necessary.
My personal favorite of the colorways was 1 and friends, family and Neal al confirmed it was one of the strongest. While working on the character model I started figuring out that my concept was basically an underwater soulslike (like One Crab's Treasure, but with a tone closer to a FromSoft game). So the undead quality of 1 felt appropriate. While playing with a few armor designs I quickly settled on the idea of doing something inspired by a combination of pacific islands, and the Lost Boy armor from Hook (a staple for any 90s kid). I then proceeded to continue the paintover adding some small elements of photobashing, and ended up with something i'm rather happy with.
I had decided previously in the project that I wanted to have some large creature looming in the background of the city. In fact that and the city where originally meant to be the whole idea, and I just happened to make a character i liked while following that beginner ZBrush tutorial, and decided to work on that and include it. I just out to make this one a silhouette really, as I was planning to just have it faintly in the background, so I just plotted it out in zspheres. I was originally thinking of a swimming leviathan like creature but played around with something lobster-like and found i liked it. Inspired by The One Reborn from Bloodborne which I recently watched a series of streams of (FromSoft games are too hard for me), I decided to have a humanoid figure coming out of the top, which also solidified the idea for me that this was a boss in the game. I then figured out how to get ZBrush models into Blender and set up some scenes for them.
At this point I was short on time but still wanted to try making a more dynamic scene, and set about reposing the PC. I originally tried a technique using masking and rotation I saw Leo demonstrate while sitting in on his undergrad 3D class, but the sphere that controls rotation and movement was always offset from the selected body part and would couse it to move unpredictably. Leo did address this in that class, but I could not for the life of me remember how. So I looked up how to pose using zspheres (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irnuxmVuF1Y&t=904s) and rather liked that way of doing it. I did not get very far with the paintover of this scene, but it was definitely worth learning how to rig models with zpheres.

OK, so apparently my current obsession is with a Regulus lives AU where he disappears and becomes a monk. For bullet point thoughts, click Keep Reading.
Lying in the cave, half dead, Regulus reflected on his life and regrets. The murder and torture never sat well with his faith, but now, with the emerald potion still coursing through his memories, he feels twisted and destroyed. He needs redemption.
Regulus disappears, assumed dead. Toying with the idea that the Dark Mark deactivated either because Regulus came so close to death, or when he takes his vows. Even if deactivated, it’s still visible, just can’t be summoned/tracked.
Regulus goes to Italy or Greece to find a remote, mountain monastery. I am torn because Catholic Regulus is vibes, and if in Italy, I like the idea of Regulus learning Italian from scratch. But Greek heritage Regulus is also a soft spot because family names (i.e. Orion, Sirius...) drawing on Greek mythology and also how it could tie with the late Prince Philip, who was from Greece originally.
Regulus loves singing and gardening, he takes over growing herbs for cooking and herbal remedies. He also secretly uses magic to help out, particularly for illnesses. A few of the higher ups figure out that he’s a magic user (some awareness within the Church of magic, like the way the muggle prime minister is made aware of the magic world). Regulus learns to appreciate that they don’t fear or judge him for his magic.
Other things Regulus discovers is part of his draw to the Death Eaters was a needed for a rigid routine and clear chain of authority. He much prefers the monastery to the Death Eaters.
For asexual, aromantic Regulus, joining the monastery resolves his inner conflict about continuing the family line. He never quiet managed to come to terms with his own sexuality and felt that it was a stupid reason to end a noble bloodline. Becoming a monk and taking a vow of chastity seems much more suitable cause.
Voldemort still returns.
Dumbledore actually figured out that Regulus disappeared and became a monk but didn’t follow up because you know what, good for the little Death Eater and if he did follow it up, chances are that would lead to Regulus’ death because suddenly there’s a trail. Best leave him be. But then with the rise of Voldemort, any help is good.
Sirius is mopping about being stuck in Grimmauld Place and how boring it is. He may be a wanted criminal but all the effort to find Sirius is UK based and no one is looking in Italy/Greece. With a twinkle of mischief in his eyes, Dumbledore sends Sirius to find Brother [whatever pseudonym Regulus is using] because this monk might be able to help.
Shock on both sides. Regulus was not expecting to be found. Sirius was not expecting an alive Regulus.
Regulus realises that Kreacher did not destroy the horcrux and gets permission from the monastery to take a temporary leave of absence.
Sirius teases Regulus way too much about him becoming a monk.
Regulus continues to wear his monk robes throughout.
None of the Death Eaters were expecting Regulus alive, or a monk. Or trying to save their souls but surprisingly still very adept with combat magic when they want to continue with the whole murder thing.

headcanon in two parts, sorry. Ask does not miss it. 1.1 Oh, you know the insecticons from the tfp? Can I have a headcanon where a S/O person is on friendly terms with insecticons?
[TF PRIME] S/O Is Friends With The Insecticons
———————————————————————
* [S/O] meets them by accident quite a bit before the events of the Energon Eaters. Arachnid is still “leader” of the Insecticons by technicality as the only available ‘Queen’ for the hive-mind, however she never really patrols the area or takes care of the hive as she should, rather choosing to wander as a free mind, disobeying orders from everybody.
* You had stumbled upon the hive while taking a short walk along the side of the Jasper highway, leading out of town and to an old coal mine you liked to inhabit on your days off work. A home-away-from-home of sorts, it brought you peace of mind to have a quiet place.
* At least you thought it was a quiet, desolate area until you broke through a thinning in the rock floor of the entry shaft and ended up crashing an Insecticon tea-party.
*It was a rather awkward fall, and it had injured your hip joint on the way down, leaving you temporarily paralyzed in throbbing pains and nerve damage.
* The giant bug-like robots and their shiny, metal wingspans immediately armed themselves and aimed at the shifting dust and rockfall, growling and chittering in a language of some sort, unknown to you.
* “Is it one of those ugly-faced Decepticons ploys again?”
* “It’s too small and squishy, much sooner to be a predacons’ chew toy than any weapon.”
* You looked super confused, absolutely stupefied, completely duped, utterly incomprehensible, awkwardly awed, amazingly idiotic, a-
* Their manner of speech and vocal patterns was practically lost on you. You could pick up remnants of a language similar to broken [language], but really nothing else. In an attempt to make contact with the metallic giants to gain help, you enabled your parroting capabilities.
* Humans have the stunning ability to mimic sounds and specific noise frequencies, at levels other earthen animals, especially mammals, cannot. Using this ability, you managed to copycat the grinding and chattering noises coming from the vocal mass of bug-bots.
* [S/O]: “¿Krrt-grrut vvurrr chechch?”
* Hardshell: “¿Buzzzz vert-tet-brrrz, Erreech?”
* [S/O]: “¿Erreech?”
* Hardshell: “¡VRREE BUZZZ-EECH CLICKLICKIK!”
* The contact went well, unbeknownst to you, and the successful communication meant that you might actually have a chance at escape, or finding a hospital!
* Congrats! You are now [Tiny Bug Child]! You have no idea what they were speaking about, unaware that they were contemplating how to execute you, but you successfully managed to evade death by being cute and cuddly! People say curiosity killed the cat, but it evidently saves the naive human-who-fell-into-an-insect-cult-meeting!
* Hardshell, the Insecticon you nearly landed on top of, begins to lift you out of the rubble, and place you down upon a makeshift stone table, partially destroyed by the collapse. The others—including Wingflap, Bombshell, Shrapnel, Blockhead, and Kickback—gather closely around you, cooing and chirping in their weird language again.
* This was, evidently, how you became the new Queen of the hive, though you didn’t know it, and managed to befriend your way through the entire enclosed community and worm into the spark of every Insecticon, though they were very few in number.
* You made easy friends with Bombshell, and remained close with him up until his untimely death by Bulkheads hammer fist. He would often lay atop the Jasper cliffside with you, and make out shapes in the clouds, constellations in the stars—regaling to you tales of the Old Cybertron, when his own kind weren’t so despised, and were respected as viable assets and allies amongst those with forms like and unlike their own—until the Autobot Elitists ensured they were seen as ugly and malformed, made to hide away in the shadows and step away from society for ‘the greater good’.
* It’s how you came to hate the Autobots—and Decepticons—for all they had done, to their planet and yours, and to your friends as well.
* Your mimicry slowly turned into actual speech patterns and recognition. Repetitive sound signals were a key portion of Archaic Insecticon speech, which made it easy to recognize simple words or phrases, each indicated by a set of whirs, clicks, or beeps.
* Now that you could actively communicate with most of the hive, it was far easier to make friends with even the hardiest of bots.
* Hardshell, of course, was tough to crack. At your constant insistance, he spoke with you once or twice, and made sure to acknowledge your presence when in the room, as well as save you a seat at the underground pub every other weekend. It wasn’t actually a pub per-say, rather a dugout chamber with smooth walls and some stone slabs insert for seating, where the cons enjoyed engex they could sneak off the Nemesis from time-to-time.
* After awhile, he warms up to you, welcoming you back to the hive every day after work, standing alongside his multiple siblings, and pushing others aside to get to hold you first.
* Meanwhile this all happens, they still don’t know what a human is. Their simple understanding of earth comes only from what they’ve seen on the highway from the cliffside, or from video footage of the Autobot pests on the Nemesis. Due to their bulky size and noisiness, they’re banned from most human-inhabited areas.
* Don’t doubt that some of them have attempted to follow their [S/O] home. They have. And some of them won’t stop trying. It’s been more than one awkward encounter between you and some teens to get them to realize they could get you in trouble.
* You all eat [dessert] together sometimes, made with energon supplements for ‘The Boys™️’, with some good ol’ 25-something-kg of sugar mixed in.
* The boys were worried when you didn’t show up for a week due to hospitalization via severe food poisoning medical coma.
* When Arachnid finally returned to Earth, and her fight against Arcee had proceeded about as well as expected, she located the hive and proceeded to force them to engage in business with Megatron. She believed that by implementing her own soldiers amongst the ranks, she’d be better equipped to backstab Megatron when the time came.
* She was undoubtably surprised when Hardshell and some others adamantly refused to take part in her plans at first, until she enforced their compliance through the hive-mind.
*When she learned of your existence, and the very gauge of your importance to her former hive, she came at you with full force.
*The Insecticons were fully unprepared to deal with a fight between their small [S/O] and an extremely angry ex-Queen. In refute, they returned you to the surface without so much as a goodbye, and begged you to escape before Arachnid scented you out.
* It was soon after these events that you learned of Breakdown’s death, Bulkhead’s coma, and Bombshell’s demise due to the combined effects of a substance called Tox-En and injuries sustained during his battle with Bulkhead. It broke you inside to learn there was nothing you could have done to help, but you refused to disobey their pleas to stay away for awhile.
* At the hive, Arachnid rules supreme. Being able to control the hive-mind was a feat a human was incapable of achieving, only Cybertronians able to easily access the imbedded chain of command.
* Hardshell mourned the loss of a true friend—a small, squishy human—but a friend nonetheless.
* Wingflap and Kickback went through a collection of memories you’d left behind with them. Pictures and small objects gifted over the years, a small treasure trove of important parts of their lives, now without you in them.
* Shrapnel stims a lot more now, and has nervous tics that he believes are the result of the loss of his dear friend. He knows you aren’t dead, least not yet, but he knows that you’ll likely never come back.
* Blockhead, as dumb as everybody thinks he is, is actually very emotionally intelligent. He has a way with words he barely understands, and [S/O] acted as a big support for someone like him. Without them now, he can no longer function like normal, and now has nobody left to talk to.
* Arachnid could care less. She absolutely despises [S/O], and would smite them for all she cares. You matter little to her, and only worry her for the loyalty and capacity of her troops.
* It isn’t until the Energon Eaters appear that everything turns completely south.
* [S/O] finally builds up enough courage to march themselves back down to the mine, and demand to meet Arachnid face-to-faceplate.
* The desert is hot, Nevada is hotter, and the trek down the highway seems endless and tedious. You pass by 5 interstate signs on your way to the hive, and count the steps it takes to reach the entrance, parched by the time you make it there.
* In all your sweaty glory, you, [S/O], make your way down the carved pathway into the mineshaft, dark and cramped—just as you left it.
* But everything is exactly as it was left, not an item out of place. The entire hive was empty, including of those you cared about. Their rooms are full of memories, and their energon cubes still lie in a corner, collecting dust and grime.
* The search seems profitable, yet it leaves you with nothing, and the emptiness of the hive echoes around you, and in all the chambers, through the cavern walls of every room.
* You know they’re gone, that they have left without you, and without so much as a simple passing note.
* Perhaps someday you’d find them, hiding away in another Jasper mine, but you never would.
* In their haze of a hive mind, they barely even remember the face of the human they left behind. A long line across the moon—stretching on for miles—and a vampire on a false throne, draining the lifeblood from their veins, and the image of [S/O] from their minds.

Possibly Transformers Animated Biggest Weakpoint...
…is how it pins all the blame on Optimus Prime for the Archa 7 Event! 💔🕷🕸
For those that need a quick reminder on what the Archa 7 Event is:
*Sentinel had an idea to go to a forbidden planet that has a Decepticon Warship full of energon and wants to bring Elita and Optimus with him on this mission.
*Elita agreed cause she was curious about the warship’s history and how it works.
*Optimus was reluctant, but gave into peer pressure and also because he wanted to protect his ‘friends’.
*Giant hostile alien spiders attacked them underground.
*Optimus got lost, but found the energon.
*Elita found Optimus.
*Optimus told Elita to help him use the explosive energon as a weapon against the spiders.
*It works, but all the underground caverns were starting to explode.
*Optimus and Elita tried to escape, but Elita’s download of Optimus’ grappling ability expired and she fell.
*Optimus tried to use his other grappling hook to reach her, but he failed.
*Sentinel runs in in time to see Elita fall and he tries to save her, but Optimus stops Sentinel and forces them both to leave the caverns before the final explosion consumes them both.
*Elita watches this while fighting the spiders.
*Elita downloads the spiders’ organic venom (despite Optimus’ warning) and becomes the techno-organic, Blackarachnia.
*Optimus and Sentinel couldn’t find her on the spark radar, cause of her recently created organic half.
*Sentinel blames everything on Optimus, like a jerk.
*Blackarachnia blames Optimus and Sentinel, ignoring her own part in her organic spider corruption.
*And even Optimus blames everything on Optimus.
*Optimus says that he was the leader of the mission during his and Sentinel’s trial and takes full responsibility for what happened.
*Ultra Magnus expels Optimus from the academy. (Although, Ultra Magnus should’ve been smart enough to figure out that it wasn’t ‘goody-two-shows’ Optimus’ idea at all and he’s clearly covering for Sentinel...)
*Optimus meets the other main characters and then later the story of TFA happens...
Frist, let’s talk about Optimus Prime’s PTSD and depression:
*Despite his name, Optimus rarely seems to smile or be happy in general; he’s stoic and usually hides his true emotions.
*After Archa 7, he gains a messed up case of arachnophobia that’s so bad, even fake spider toys can trigger his PSTD memories and either startle him or cause him to attack in self-defense.
*He’s also clearly suffering from Survivor’s Guilt, considering that he completely blames himself for what happened to Elita.
Now, let’s talk more about how Blackarachnia and Sentinel basically gaslight Optimus:
Sentinel Prime:
*It was all Sentinel’s idea, but Sentinel lets Optimus take the blame for everything, including Elita’s fate.
*Sentinel ignores his own responsibility over what happened on Archa 7 and he only says that he’s sorry that they ever went to that spider planet, after encountering Blackarachnia; Sentinel conveniently forgets to mention that they only went to Archa 7 because of him.
*Sentinel also doesn’t seem to really care about Elita all that much anymore (even before he knew about her turning into Blackarachnia) and he was also willing to let Optimus join the Elita Guard Autobots, if Optimus makes Sentinel look good in front of Ultra Magnus... I honestly have no sympathy for this dude what so ever... he deserves worse then what he got in the end.
Blackarachnia/Elita One:
*Yes, her being left behind is tragic and unfair, but in the end... Blackarachnia has honestly nobody to blame except for herself for her permanent transformation.
*It may have been Sentinel’s idea, but Elita was almost just as willing to go to Archa 7.
*Optimus warns her not to use her download ability on the organic spiders, but she does it anyway later on... Why? Why did she do that? Why the frag did she think it was a good idea to absorb spider venom?!
*Both Elita and Blackarachnia are shown to be kinda reckless and selfish.
*Blackarachnia also doesn’t care about the possible lives she ruins/destroys/betrays in her attempts to cure herself or experiment with science, even if they’re people that haven’t even wronged her. (Like Sari, the Dinobots, Wasp and all of Detroit...)
*Despite this, Optimus tries offering her chances to redeem herself and even helping her find a cure, but she keeps rejecting his offers and continues to be a jerk.
*She blames Optimus and Sentinel for everything that happened to her, but she refuses to accept her own responsibility on the Archa 7 Event.
*Blackarachnia doesn’t truly have to forgive them, but she should at least be aware that her becoming Blackarachnia is technically her own fault.
*She’s like the personification of that saying: “I suffered, why shouldn't they?”
Optimus Prime:
*Now I’m gonna be honest, Optimus isn’t completely blameless; he could’ve told Ultra Magnus or one of the teachers what Elita and Sentinel were planning to do, before they did it.
*But instead he went along with it anyway, cause he was somewhat of a pushover back then.
*He also should’ve at least tried to find Elita’s body to give a proper funeral.
*But other then that, he’s the one least responsible for what happened compared to the other two.
*He told them that they shouldn’t go to the forbidden planet and he warned Elita not to use her download ability... but do either of them actually listen to him? Nope!
*And yes, Optimus did leave Elita behind while saving Sentinel from the final energon explosion, which was a messed up thing to do... But I understand why Optimus did it; the explosion was quickly approaching and there was no way that they would’ve been able to save Elita in time... If Optimus and Sentinel went down there with Elita, all 3 of them would’ve died in the explosion (at least that’s what Optimus believes, considering that Elita does survive)... Optimus knew this and was forced to make a choice that he wasn’t happy with making... When Optimus grabbed Sentinel and forced him to leave Elita behind to save themselves, it was honestly the most realistically heroic option...
*And yet it sometimes it feels like the show itself views Optimus as the one who was 90% in the wrong during that whole situation!
Don’t think Ultra Magnus is free from some blame:
*The guy is supposed to be the ruler of Cybertron and/or the ruler of the Autobots and yet he’s so stupid sometimes...
*He made Sentinel his literal second-in-command; no smart nor sane person would do this.
*Optimus is usually a goody-two-shoes, a rule follower (unless he feels that he needs to take action) and has the best grades in the academy and Sentinel was probably some kind of troublemaker... yet Ultra Magnus believes Optimus, when the younger Autobot lies that it was his idea to go to Archa 7?... Megatron treated Optimus with more respect then Ultra Magnus ever did, and Megatron was trying to kill Optimus!
And so, I end this post with one last little saying:

one fight I want to see
While the manga has its differences and tones from the webcomic, I don’t think ONE has many regrets about how he’s writing the webcomic. And rightly so.
There is, however, one regret we know of. I think not having enough time to develop the old man’s story is one of ONE’s webcomic regrets, which he puts nicely in his Unpopularity poll.
Translation: 'I'm going to become a semi-regular character by supporting Genos occasionally...' Or so I used to think. But it's actually hilarious how rarely I show up lol."
Murata the workaholic has been helping ONE develop Kuseno more and with Genos being a) happy with his choice to become a cyborg b) a person who has given himself a bigger goal in life than hunting down the mad cyborg c) a person who has surrounded himself with people he respects and trusts and d) able to push back more at Dr Kuseno, something the doctor has so far seen as positive, I think the aftermath of the Monster Association is prime for a Very Important Difficult Conversation.
The question that had been in my mind for a long, long time was ‘how can you possibly justify turning a child into living weapon?’ The story has made it clear that the answer is ‘You can’t.’ Dr Kuseno has been living with the guilt of it. Until recently, we’d not known what it was but many readers have thought he was making up for something in the way he’s been willing to get Genos any damn-fool expensive toy the latter sets his heart on, which he’ll play with for a day and then get bored of.
It’s also been notable that he’ll pull consecutive all-nighters to give Genos the hero whatever the latter thinks he needs in the moment, but is much more ambivalent about supporting Genos the avatar of venageance.
Unfortunately, all the space there was to explore why in the webcomic was a literal deathbed confession, leaving us with too many questions. And while that’s fine for that setting -- I mean, there’s a good place for Genos never getting the closure of understanding Kuseno -- the manga has the space. None of this convenient deathbed confession shit. The doctor has some explaining to do and he’d best get on with it.
In the aftermath of the Monster Association debacle, it’s not like Genos is going to be in a fit state to go anywhere in a hurry, so I really hope they take the time to take a breath and talk.
As far as awkward situations go, saying ‘I destroyed your body and your future to use you to further my selfish vendetta and I’ve repented of it but I have no idea how I’m going to make it up to you, however, I want to quit, sorry’ might not have the same moral bankruptcy as embezzling the funds raised for a neighbour’s baby’s heart transplant and spending it all on poker in Las Vegas, but it’s just as inexcusable.
I don’t care how it goes. Whether it's a bit funny, like Genos tells Kuseno " I can not forgive you..." the old man faints and so doesn't hear the rest "...because you've done nothing wrong," and there's a bit of hoo ha until the misunderstanding's resolved. Or it's a less funny misunderstanding because Genos thinks that Kuseno is cutting him off for his repeated failures and it all gets a bit angsty. Or it gets incredibly ugly and Kuseno realises that he’s horrifically underestimated how obsessive and angry Genos is, I don’t care.
I don’t care whether or not they come to an immediate resolution, or it’s a matter that rolls along over the days and weeks to follow, whether they understand each other better, or it puts a strain between them.
All I care about is that the doctor stops chickening out and comes clean. Before it’s too late. However ugly it is, it’s better coming from him than maliciously garbled from a third party.
#meta#Dr Kuseno#Genos#conflict may be painful#but sometimes it's necessary#and we do need to know more#even if the story is set as a bonus story we need it#OPM#One Punch Man

Hey:) have you read the ATLA comic Love is a Battlefield? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it !
The comic makes me seriously wonder what the person who okayed it was drinking.
For one, it’s the single best demonstration anyone might need that the conflict the ship is based on isn’t one you want to have in your romance under any circumstances—that between a girl who’s just not that into a guy and said guy who won’t take no for an answer.
It single-handedly validates every anti-cataanger out there—Aang’s portrayed as entitled, selfish, and utterly delusional about his relationship with Katara who is supposed to have no voice in it and quietly conform to his idea of her and their bond instead of functioning as a separate being with her own wants and notions.
But let’s bring the receipts, shall we?
So the story begins innocuously enough, with Aang drawing the air and water symbols in the sand and adding a heart around them. Cute and innocent so far, I like. Katara appears, acting as though she wants to talk to him, and Aang concludes it’s about the invasion kiss. Why would he think that is beyond me but let’s roll with it. But instead of delving into that particular can of worms, Katara splashes Aang with some water in an attempt to get him to practice.
He doesn’t take it well.
Notice the bold “finally”. What this says to me is that in Aang’s mind, it’s Katara’s job to come to him and report as his girlfriend, just by virtue of being kissed, and it’s been mighty upsetting to him that she “failed” to do so.
After all, consider The Ember Island Players:
“We kissed at the Invasion, and I thought we were gonna be together.”
Aang doing a thing means that Aang & Katara did a thing mutually.
In his view, he isn’t supposed to be the one who approaches her and explains why he saw fit to plant one on her; who opens up about his feelings and initiates a frank conversation. No, that was a claiming kiss at the invasion and Katara can only acknowledge it as such and reciprocate.
Our Every RomCom Guy Ever doesn’t realize that Katara not talking to him about it is the answer to where they stand.
This is the third time in as many pages, btw, that Katara tries to get Aang to practice. And for a good reason because we’re a short while removed from The Western Air Temple where he yet again refused to face up to an unpleasant truth and instead had to be literally chased around like an unruly child. Katara’s fully in a sifu mode here, not even perceiving the opportunity to talk about their relationship. And if an assertive fourteen-year old doesn’t think to talk about her second ever kiss with the guy who gave it to her, that should tell you all you need to know about how much she appreciated it.
Aand that’s fourth time. Katara really seems to think that taking down this Fire Lord dude is important or something and that Aang is once again failing to prepare for it. Look, she even has a nickname for it at this point. Yet for some reason, Nice Guy Aang reframes the situation—WHILE HIDING IN A LITERAL ROCK—as a role reversal where it’s Katara running away from confrontation and having to face the truth, even though he revealed in this very scene that he didn’t think it was his job to be open about his feelings with the girl he believes he loves.
At last, Katara realizes Aang’s hinting at the invasion kiss and reacts like any girl who’s harbouring a secret crush would—by visibly cringing and pretending she doesn’t know what he’s talking about and the wind’s really strong for her to hear what he’s saying anyway so maybe it’d be a good idea for Aang to come out and practice? (fifth time)
Finally, supreme gentleman Aang does the one thing he’s not supposed to do—he loses control and depending on how charitable you are either puts Katara in harm’s way (by firebending, weird how that keeps happening), or outright assaults her in blind rage.
Luckily, Katara’s just glad that Zuko’s training is yielding results and maybe the world won’t end in an Ozai-induced inferno by the end of the summer.
Scorned LoverBoi couldn’t give less of a shit, though.
And there you have it, explicitly in the text. Katara, despite showing no signs of attraction and not encouraging Aang’s advances in any way, is perceived by him as someone who’s cruelly toying with his feelings—simply because her reactions don’t conform to what he wants them to be. The relationship is utterly about him and it’s so mean of Katara that she doesn’t feel like playing the demure cut-out in his hero-gets-the-girl routine.
Let’s not mince words, this is some prime incel logic Aang’s operating on.
And the creators don’t seem to realize this. Which is why they never challenge him on his behaviour in the show, reward it in the finale, and go on reaffirming it in every single post-canon material there is.
And I find it sort of infuriatingly hilarious that someone not only conceived of the ship this way, but thought it was a good idea to present it to the world as a basic vanilla romance.
Which makes me wonder.
Because as strange as this might sound, there is a universe where this story is not only perfectly okay, but absolutely crucial to the overall narrative.
That is if the show actually followed up on The Guru and culminated in Aang letting go of Katara to unlock the Avatar state.
From start to finish, the comic proves Pathik completely and utterly right—what Aang feels for Katara isn’t selfless love, it’s selfish attachment. But instead of it being cloaked in vague religious language, we see it manifest in a painfully tangible way. The story’s kinda unintentionally brilliant if you read it like this—it’s show to Pathik’s tell. Aang is too wrapped up in what he feels to see the signs and runs away from having to acknowledge the painful reality that’s clearly evident, i.e. that Katara doesn’t love him. And because he’s so invested in his delusions, he blows up whenever challenged on them, acting on entitlement and baseless expectations and going so far as to slowly kill the beautiful relationship they actually do have—a lifelong bromance.
If this story foreshadowed that Aang needed to let go of his attachment not only to save the world, but to even keep Katara in his life, I’d be fully on board.
But for that to happen, the creators would have to take a step back, start considering perspectives beyond Aang’s, and stop treating him like an infallible bringer of truths who deserves human prizes just for doing his job.
And if they were able to do that then we wouldn’t be here in the first place.

Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 // Masterlist
*
*
*
When you left the previous night, you didn’t want to think about what could have happened between Taehyung’s projects. For the past 72 hours, you’ve seen at least 49 different ways last night could have gone, and each one was worse than the last. You refused to acknowledge any tugs you felt all night and right now the only thing you want to do is make sure nothing was damaged beyond repair.
Hoseok sits on the chair behind the security desk, eating a breakfast sandwich despite not actually needing sustenance the way the humans do. He insists it’s only to keep up his human appearance, but you both know it’s because he’s become obsessed with the taste and the sensation. You try not to roll your eyes when you think about how many he’d shoved into the fridge at his - and Yoongi’s - apartment.
“Don’t you think we would have heard about something by now?” He asks, “Besides, can’t you just look at your hands?”
You sigh, “I’d rather look at the events and see which path they chose. I’ll worry about everything else later.”
Of course you could just look at your hands, but being able to see the vision clearly can sometimes be far too overwhelming even for you. Just the tugs on your fingers are enough to make you itch constantly. You’ve even gone as far as to buy ‘fidget toys’ - as the humans call them - to distract humans from the constant twitching you’ve become so used to. Though you have to admit that the toys themselves give you a brief moment of relief.
With his mouth full, Hoseok side-eyes you, “Sometimes it worries me just how much you know.”
“Show me the tape.”
Hoseok shrugs and turns to the monitors in front of him. He logs into the system and clicks around, finding the footage from the night before and following every camera Eunha goes through. He rewinds the tape back to a bit after everyone left for the night. It shows Eunha making her rounds and walking to the king’s exhibit. Both of the deities watch as she shines her light through the gate and walks away. As they speed through the footage, it looks like no interaction happened the previous night at all.
Hoseok pauses the footage after Eunha returns to the security room and turns to you, who's just as confused as he is, “That looks like nothing.”
“It isn’t nothing.” You can feel it. You’ve practically already seen it. There is no way the two didn’t meet last night, “Show me his cameras.”
Hoseok does as he’s asked. He finds the set of 4 cameras hidden in the exhibit room and clicks on the widest angle. This camera shows Eunha entering the exhibit and taking a look around, but nothing more. It isn’t until she passes the necklace case that you see the glittering jewels shine within the glass. “There.”
“The spell...” Hoseok’s peaceful demeanor diminishes and an unusual scowl covers his features, “Did he even try to break it?”
You nod, “Even if he didn’t, I did.” You weren’t stupid enough to believe that Taehyung would actually try to get rid of his creation. You’ve been far beyond giving him the benefit of the doubt for quite some time now. However, actually destroying the necklace he designed proved to be much harder than a simple conversation with the Moon God himself.
“We’ll just have to stay on top of them.” You stand up from the chair you’d brought over to the desk and stand, raising your arms up high to stretch before you leave.
Hoseok picks up his office phone and hovers his finger over the keypad, “Should I page Taehyung?”
You wave the security guard off, “No. I’ll find him later. Just let me worry about this.”
You leave Hoseok to get back to work and leave for your own office. Not only do you have your regular responsibilities as a deity to attend to, but your human ones as well. Hours spent at your desk not only speaking to employees as needed, but also looking at your strings and following tugs against them. Most tugs come from your own friends and their daily interactions with museum patrons. You try to ignore them, but it’s hard to just let them interact with mortals when you know how bad the outcomes could be.
Taehyung is your prime example of just how true that can be.
You find the blonde in the children’s exhibit he took over curating, helping the youngest of museum patrons to interact with the activities around them. He’s tucked himself between two young children in front of a LEGO station. He tries to help them recreate the dragon behind the glass, but the children are much more creative then the blueprint laid in front of them.
You approach the group from behind as the young boy on Taehyung’s left turns to him with a smile, “Do you like my dog, Mr. Kim?” He shows him a combination of green and blue blocks, resembling a table more so than a dog but Taehyung still gasps dramatically.
“It’s amazing!” He clasps his hands together in celebration, but you’re still stuck on the child’s inability to realize that the object they’ve created is not a dog.
“That’s a table.”
You watch as Taehyung and the boy turn to you, one confused and the other seeming slightly irritated. With big brown eyes, the young boy pouts, “No, it’s a dog!”
“It doesn’t have a head.”
“Yes it does.” Taehyung interjects, “The head is right here. Isn’t that right, Beomgyu?” He points to the singular blue block that holds the top pieces together, not even close to resembling what he and the boy claim it to be. Even when the boy nods, you’re still left unconvinced.
You bend down to be on their level with furrowed brows, “It doesn’t even have a tail.”
“It doesn’t need a tail!”
“Yes it does.”
“No it doesn’t.”
“It’s not a dog if it doesn’t have a tail.”
“You’re wrong!” At this point, little bubbles of tears are welling in the young boy's eyes. His feelings are hurt, but you’re none the wiser to his discomfort. You’re taken by complete surprise when he stands up and throws his creation back onto the table, “Mom!”
“No, Beomgyu, it’s-” Taehyung tries to reassure him that his creation is perfect just the way it is, but he stops trying as the little boy runs to the next room in disheartened tears, “-okay…”
You’re left ignorant to the scene you created, instead grabbing the pieces the young human boy threw down and putting them back with the pile at the center of the table. You settle onto your knees in front of the work bench to help clear it off for the next children, “Having a good day?” You ask the blonde beside you.
His shoulders fall, utterly defeated, “I was.” He sounds hostile, and you’re left oblivious as to why. To you, the small child is nothing. But to Taehyung, Beomgyu is a sweet, creative little boy with so much potential. And you...you just potentially crushed his dreams. The amount of anger Taehyung is starting to harbor for you is beginning to overshadow his fear, “What can I do for you today, Madame Director?”
There’s malice in his tone, but you don’t register it, “I want to know about last night. Hoseok and Yoongi said you had her touch the necklace.”
“I did.”
“And did you stay to watch?”
As much as Taehyung wanted to stay and watch the long awaited meeting unfold in front of his own eyes, he couldn’t risk messing up again. The last time he interfered, he only made everything worse. When an opportunity came for him to intervene, he was too late. He didn’t understand, and that lack of understanding is what brought him - and everyone else - where they are now. He’d never admit it out loud, and especially not in front of you.
The lack of response from the god beside you is the only answer you need, “So you don’t know either.”
“I wanted them to meet on their own,” He says, not lying but not telling the whole truth, “I was just going to see her in a bit and check in about last night. Did you know she’s been working constantly without a day off since Chanyeol left?”
“Hoseok might have mentioned that. But considering this whole situation is your mess-” Taehyung rolls his eyes,“-checking in sounds like a great idea! I want you to talk to her and update me.” The blonde is quick to turn his head, fearing he’s heard you wrong, but you only stare back at him expectantly. “Agreed?”
“Yeah! I can do that.” To say the god is surprised would be an understatement. From day one of him orchestrating this whole charade, you haven’t wanted any part of it. You haven’t wanted to put up with him. You specifically told him that this was between himself, Hoseok, and Yoongi and that you wanted no part of it. Your sudden involvement has Taehyung beaming with curiosity, “Any reason for the new interest?”
You frown and throw the conjoined lego pieces in his direction, hitting his shoulder and falling behind him. He flinches back, his hands pulling close to his chest before reaching up and over his left shoulder to try and catch the miniature building blocks. You try to hide a smirk, “Don’t read into this, Taehyung. This is my job.”
Taehyung retrieves the pieces you threw at him, “Mhm, sure! Sure…”
“I’m serious, Taehyung. I know a lot more than you do.”
“Yeah, you don’t have to remind me...” Taehyung mumbles.
They way he says it is just as condescending as he usually is when you bring up your job. It seems no matter how many times you try to explain to him what your job entails, it goes in one ear and right out of the other. He never actually listens to you, he just continues to think whatever he’d like.
You sigh, “You know, I don’t act like this to be mean.”
“Then why act like this at all?” He asks.
“You wouldn’t get it.”
“Of course I would!”
You scoff, “Considering you don’t understand it yet, I sincerely doubt you would even comprehend what I’m talking about if I were to tell you.”
And there you go again, telling Taehyung how unintelligent he is just so you can be right. It’s never an off switch with you. Always a vague explanation and a promise that he’ll understand, but he never does. “Oh yeah, it must be so hard looking at your fingers all day.”
And just like that, the both of you have gone back to square one.
You set down what you were picking up and stand. Without so much as a frown you say, “Do what I asked and I won’t make Hoseok follow you around.” And walk away from the activity table, leaving Taehyung just as displeased with your attitude as you are with his.
To Taehyung, you have no right to be angry with him - you have a few rights to be angry with him. Sure, he’s made some mistakes here and there, but there’s no reason to continue to hold it against him! He’s learning. Everyone learns. It’s completely unfair that he should have to face relentless reminders of such a simple fact.
Nevertheless, he does as you’ve asked. He had intended to watch for Eunha to arrive anyway. He wanted to know what had happened the night before just as everyone else did, but he knew he had to wait and be subtle.
When she finally arrives, she looks a bit out of it. She makes a detour around Seokjin when she would normally greet him. Her hair isn’t as neat as she usually keeps it and the bags haphazardly thrown onto her shoulder show she’s in a bit of distress. Her walking is much faster than her normal pace, and Taehyung hopes that’s not a bad sign.
He decides to wait for her upstairs in the king’s exhibit, taking a seat on his favorite bench in the museum. It’s always a nice place to sit and have a rest throughout the day, it let’s him think back to old times when his plan was much simpler. A time where his friend didn’t spend all hours of the day inside of a dusty box waiting for his soulmate to return to him.
It’s moments like this that Taehyung can’t help but wonder what would have happened if he’d left Namjoon alone. If he had just ignored the King’s prayer for help, would he have still fallen ill? Were they destined to meet the same way even if he hadn’t interfered? Would Namjoon and Eunha have been able to meet in this life as well if it hadn’t been for his insistence to give the King a companion? Even worse, what if you’re right?
You told him that if he meddles too much that their strings could knot and burn. If that happens, then everything he’s worked for goes down the drain. Eunha and Namjoon will never get their happy ending and it will all be his fault. If only Yoongi would just make everything easier.
“Damn it!” Taehyung curses, more to himself than anything. He’s working himself up and that won’t do him any good. In moments like this, he takes a page from Namjoon’s book and does something to calm himself. He pulls a small sketch pad out of his bag and throws a leg over his knee, focusing all of his worries and anxieties onto the piece of paper in front of him. Namjoon always wrote in his journals when he was worried about something, but Taehyung has never been great with words. Instead, he draws doodles of patrons and co-workers, even sketches of flowers to ease his ramped mind.
Taehyung hears the clicks of her shoes before he sees her, “Having fun there?”
He wants to lift his head and tell her he’s really worried beyond belief, that he’s the reason she looks so tired. But revealing himself now would ruin everything, so for now he remains a friend in the background.
---
His talk with Eunha went about as well as he expected. She was definitely lying so she wouldn’t worry him - or sound absolutely insane to any normal human. But he could tell just how freaked out she was, and if she wasn’t accepting Namjoon now, then there’s a good chance his plan just took a turn for the worst. He’ll just keep that bit to himself, though. What you don’t know, won’t hurt him.
Hopefully.
He saves himself the hassle of having to unlock and re-lock your door in favor of just appearing inside; however, he didn’t expect to see you sitting at your desk eating a bag of chips. Your one leg is tucked under you while your foot rests on the cushion of your chair. You’re staring at your computer with great interest, so you must be reading something.
You cast a quick glance at your sudden intruder and sigh, but continue your reading, “I did leave the door unlocked.”
Taehyung checks to see if you’re lying, and he’s completely shocked to find you telling the truth, “Why didn’t you lock it? She could come in here!”
“This isn’t an area patrons can enter. Besides, she won’t come here.” You place both legs on the ground and lean over your work to pat your desk, “Have a seat.”
Taehyung is more than hesitant to join you, but he does take a seat. He studies the contents of your desk and finds not one, but two empty chip bags, “Shrimp chips?”
You shrug, “Hoseok. He’s been going overboard with the human food and leaving me gifts every morning. Of all the things he’s left, this one is the most satisfying.”
Taehyung cracks an amused smile, “You’d think Yoongi would want comfort food more than Hoseok.”
“Comfort food?” You ask. You haven’t heard that term before.
“Yeah. That’s what humans would consider chips.” Taehyung explains, “They call them snacks too! They’re things you can enjoy when you get hungry or you just really want to eat something.”
“Isn’t that the same thing?”
“Far from it actually.” You give Taehyung a quizzical look and he shrugs, “I don’t understand it yet either. Humans are very confusing.”
“Tell me about it.”
“So what are you doing here? I figured you’d be as far away from the museum as possible.” Taehyung asks, eyeing the high pile of papers that decorate the top of your desk.
You shrug, “I’d rather take care of all the human work I’m supposed to do so I can do my real job when it comes up.”
The blonde leans back in his chair, “And this has nothing to do with Eunha and Namjoon?”
“Oh, it has everything to do with them.” You assure him. You take a moment to sit back and look at what you’ve done so far and let out a heavy sigh, “I can’t sit still knowing that they’re both here alive and-...Well-...together.”
Your eyes stray to your hands and Taehyung takes notice of the blank look that takes over, “What are you so afraid of?”
You close your eyes, shake your head, and smile, “Fear has nothing to do with it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
With that you get back to work, hoping to finish your human duties before the morning so you can spend your day doing your real job. Taehyung remains in front of you, silently watching you work away after brushing him off so easily once again. He doesn’t take any offense to it anymore - though it does annoy him to no end - at this point it’s like your own way of communicating.
However, Taehyung is focused on one thing and one thing only after a long day of stress and hard work.
“Could I have a chip?”
---
It’s been about a week and a half since Taehyung managed to bring Namjoon and Eunha together and despite how optimistic it had seemed, he’s now beginning to realize just how flawed this plan really is.
“She’s not even willing to give him a chance!” The blonde complains, picking at the chicken on his plate instead of eating it.
Jimin - who sits across from him eating his own food - shrugs, “He did scare the living shit out of her.”
“I can confirm that her soul left her body for a solid 7 seconds when they first met.” Hoseok pipes up, his mouth still full with food.
“Why don’t you just go back to fanboying?” Jeongguk asks, taking a sip of his soda, “Wasn’t that working?”
“Not anymore.” Taehyung sighs. He’d been talking non-stop about the dead king since he first landed his job. He’s done nothing but keep up appearances since then in hopes of intriguing Eunha into liking Namjoon just as much as he does, but hopes seem to be quickly going down the drain, “What if (Y/n) is right and this is all just going to bite me in the ass again?”
Hoseok laughs, “I could have told you that.”
The three lower tier gods turn to Death, but only Jimin is bold enough to question him while he gorges himself on human pleasantries, “Why are you here again?”
Hoseok’s ears surprisingly turn red in embarrassment and he swallows the food in his mouth, “You guys said you were getting food here…Ms. Oh gives me extra kimchi when I come here.”
Taehyung can’t help but chuckle, “You really do think with your stomach.”
Hoseok’s brows furrow, “Who told you that?”
“(Y/n).”
Jimin stops eating, “You two have been hanging out?”
The blonde shrugs, “She just wants updates on Namjoon and Eunha and the choices they make. She obviously can’t be bothered to do it herself. It’s not like it isn’t her job.”
Jimin scoffs and Hoseok chews away quietly at his food, but Jeongguk doesn’t seem too convinced with Taehyung’s assumption, “Maybe she’s just trying to make conversation the only way she knows how.”
“She couldn’t ask about my day instead?”
“You give (Y/n) way too much credit.”
Jeongguk shakes his head, “A guy in my philosophy class acts the same way! He’s really bad at making conversation, so he starts talking about class related stuff to drive himself.”
Taehyung thinks back to their most recent meeting where Fate had asked him about Namjoon and if he’d been causing problems. He remembers how the conversation started, but how it digressed into complaining about Yoongi and Jeongguk he’d never know.
“Still-” Taehyung refuses to falter, “-I do a lot with my day.”
“Taehyung. I hate to break this to you, but knowing what happens to Namjoon and Eunha is what you do with your day.” Jimin points out. Taehyung flings a piece of his chicken in the blonde’s direction, and he blocks with the back of his hand before it can hit and ruin his work shirt. He sends Taehyung a glare and cleans his hand with a napkin, “But I do agree, she could try a bit harder if she’s trying to have a real conversation.”
“You guys really don’t get her, do you?” Hoseok asks.
“Of course we do! She’s Fate.” Jimin says, “She holds the strings of the future in her palms and it’s up to her to keep the universe balanced and blah blah blah.”
Hoseok sighs at Jimin’s mockery, “There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with holding the universe in your hands.”
“Yeah, that’s why Hui sits with the others while the rest of us do work.” Jimin scoffs.
Hoseok bites the inside of his cheek, “He has more responsibilities than you. You messed that up on your own.”
Jimin shrugs and takes a sip of his water, “Not everyone wishes to be walked all over.”
Hoseok almost looks offended, “You think we walk over you?”
“What else should I call it? Aggressive advice?” Jimin leans forward like he’s challenging Hoseok. The air surrounding the table goes cold as Hoseok slowly sets his chopsticks on the table with a firm grip. It’s obvious he’s trying to hide his anger.
“Listen-”
“Hoseok~!” The god’s anger disappears completely at the mention of his name. From behind him, sweet Ms. Oh comes right up to him with a small package of extra kimchi. She places a hand on his shoulder and presents the to-go container to him, “I put in a little extra kimchi in there for you.”
Hoseok accepts her offer graciously with both hands, “Thank you, ma’am. I promise to eat it all!” Ms. Oh pinches his cheek and turns to return to her kitchen. Hoseok waits until she’s completely out of ear shot before he lets his frustrated frown return, “Just think about it this way: Maybe it’s not just humans she doesn’t understand.”
Taehyung can’t help but look down to his plate, ‘Had he been too quick to judge Fate because of their own history together?’
Hoseok piles his finished dishes on top of each other and stands from the table, “I’ll see you after your lunch.”
Jimin glares after Hoseok until he leaves, “Yeah, it’s pretty obvious that she doesn’t understand much,” He scoffs. He looks at his own plate and wills it all to go away, leaving only the mess so he doesn’t hurt Ms. Oh’s feelings. Leaning back in his chair he sighs, “Maybe I can try talking to Eunha again. What do you think?”
Earth looks to the Moon, but he’s somewhere else in his own space in the universe. He can’t help but rethink his most recent interruptions with Fate again and wonder if her stubbornness - as well as his own - is what’s kept them from seeing eye to eye. If he wants to help Namjoon and Eunha then he’ll have to get Fate’s approval. But how?

Taehyung looks at the guard schedule you handed him, studying the 4 blank days beside Eunha’s name. He looks up to you - still awkwardly typing away on your computer, “Days off?”
You nod, “Yes, Hoseok thinks it’ll be good for her.”
“And do you?”
“Do I what?”
“Do you think it’s a good idea?”
You stop typing, your fingers curling in as you think about what to say, “I think it’ll help her figure things out for herself.” If you were a human and had everything pushed onto you the same way, you’d probably feel as overwhelmed as she looks. Even a few weeks into this whole charade and she still seems too in over her head, “Everything is still very new for her, and the stress might eat her away if she doesn’t get some kind of break.”
Taehyung laughs in disbelief, “When did you become efficient with humans?”
You choose to ignore the blonde and return to your typing, “Efficient? Wow, that’s a big word. I’m impressed.”
“Mocking me doesn’t answer my question.” Taehyung points out, sitting back in his chair and resting one leg over the other.
“Doesn’t it?” You ask, raising a brow in his direction. You shrug your shoulders and look back at your screen, “I’ll have you know that I’ve always been efficient with humans.”
“Really?” He scoffs, “Is that why you told that one lady her love line was doomed if she didn’t stop sleeping around?”
“I had to warn her.”
“She ran out of the bathroom crying.”
“The truth hurts.”
“She hit Seokjin with her purse.”
“And I bought Seokjin a coffee and a donut in return.”
“You know that’s not how you’re supposed to deal with that situation, right?”
You smile, unaffected by your actions, “I’ll consider it a learning experience then.”
“Do you even know what you should do in that situation?” He asks.
That has you pausing. Of course, in an ideal situation you wouldn’t be involved at all. But you’re not acting as a god anymore, you’re parading around as a human. And while you’re confident you know more than Taehyung about humans and their society, you can’t help but wonder if you’re more out of touch than you thought.
Taehyung sits up and moves so he can rest his arms against your desk with his chin resting on his forearms, “Are you sure you really know humans?”
The last time you had been on Earth to associate yourself with the humans was almost 7 years ago, and it was only to warn Taehyung about his own future. You’d only bumped into a few humans on the street, and you didn’t even have to speak to anyone at all. Your knowledge of humans in the last 100 years - at least - has been almost entirely reduced to nothing.
You know for a fact that Taehyung was taught about humans by Jimin himself after the blonde’s first run on the troublemakers planet. It leaves you wondering just what Taehyung has learned and if he’s capable of making better decisions than before.
You turn to the curator and mirror his position, leaning on your desk, “What would you have done?”
“Well, I wouldn’t have had to apologize to Seokjin or the lady because I wouldn’t have said anything.”
You laugh, “Well, yeah. Your lady days are behind you.”
“Once again, mocking me won’t make me wrong.” Taehyung says, tapping you on the nose with a smug grin.
You wrinkle your nose but make no effort to move and show no sign of disgust, “Are you sure?”
Taehyung finds himself staring at you longer than he normally does. You're obviously unimpressed with him, but you still seem happy. It’s like when he talks about Namjoon to Eunha and she pretends she’s not annoyed out of her mind. He thinks back to the other day with Hoseok at Ms. Oh’s and he can’t help but wonder if he could change your mind .
“Why don’t we make a deal?” He asks.
You barely gave him a chance to finish his sentence, “No.” You sit up and return to your working position.
“Come on-”
You hold up a finger to silence him, “We’re in the process of one of your deals, and I don’t like your track record.”
“Just humor me.” He pleads.
You close your eyes in annoyance, “Speak.”
“Eunha gets 4 days off. We don’t have to keep an eye on her or Namjoon. Let’s go out and really experience the human world together.” He pushes your stacks of paperwork aside, “Let me show you what humans are really like.”
“And…?” You ask, knowing he has more up his sleeve than just showing you the humans of today.
“If I prove to you that humans are more than just random strings that come and go, then you have to really help me with Eunha and Namjoon. If they’re not, then I’ll convince them to destroy the necklace on their own.” Taehyung knows he’s risking everything just to prove a point, but he’s confident that if he plays his cards right then he can get you to at least see things from his point of view, “They’re more than you give them credit for, and I think you would change your mind if you saw them in a different light than that of a god.”
“If you’re so confident you can change my mind that you’d give up after 1,000 years, then who am I to deny?” Your response has Taehyung jumping from his seat in glee, almost stumbling over the chair he was sitting in from moving too fast. You hold back a chuckle as he tries to put everything back where it belongs, “I’ll approve your time off for tomorrow.”
“You won’t regret it.” He assures you.
“I’m sure I won’t.” Despite his annoying persistence and his inability to comprehend the simplest of explanations, you can’t deny that he does try his best with everything.
Taehyung is just happy that you actually agreed. He was sure that you’d turn him down and he’d go home to figure out another way to sneak around you, but this will be perfect! All he has to do is win you over. Which may be a bit daunting now, but he’s sure he’ll get over it.
He’s about to leave when you call out to him, “Taehyung-!”
He turns and you smile, “Make sure it’s something really special if you’re going to get me to agree.”
“Trust me, it will be.”
—
“You’re an idiot.”
Not the words Taehyung expected to hear after he told Jimin and Jeongguk about his new plan. He figured they’d have some distaste for his plan, but this was a bit much.
“Come on, Jimin. Do you really have that little faith in me?” Taehyung asks.
“Yes.” The blonde walks away from the living room to go to the kitchen.
“He’s made it pretty obvious.”
Taehyung turns to the youngest deity with a frown and points a finger at him, “You have no room to talk.”
The two follow Jimin to the kitchen where the eldest of the three makes himself a glass of water at the fridge over his usual glass of champagne. When he turns and sees Taehyung again, he heaves a heavy sigh and sets the glass on the island in between them, “If you think you’re going to convince Fate that humans are something special then you have another thing coming to you, Taehyung! (Y/n) has never valued humans and she never will.”
“Like you have? She took them from you for a reason, didn’t she?” Jimin narrows his eyes at Taehyung and the Moon continues on, “Maybe she just forgot how that feels.”
“Or she won’t and this will ruin everything we’ve worked for. Did you think about that?” He asks.
“Of course I did! But I know that won’t happen.” Taehyung leans on the counter and makes himself eye-level with his friend, “You have to trust me.”
“You better not blow this.” Jimin picks up his glass and walks out.
“I won’t!” Taehyung calls after him, but the Earth has already left his orbit.

If someone were to look up the definition of worry and anxiety in a dictionary, they’d find a picture of Taehyung. Asking Fate to make a deal with him had seemed like a great idea when he first thought of it, but now as the blonde stands at the bus stop waiting for her to arrive he’s starting to have second thoughts. As much as he hates to admit it, your track record for being correct is far more superior to his. The chances of him changing your mind are about as high as Yoongi smiling at him without being forced to.
“Taehyung?” You ask, pulling the god out of his thoughts. You’re sitting right next to him and he didn’t even notice you arrived. For once, you look worried, “Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah, the bus should be here soon.” Taehyug assures you with the best false confidence he can muster. If today is going to go well, then he needs to leave every worry on this bus bench and focus all of his energy on you and what would make you more likely to finally see from his point of view.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?” You ask.
He shakes his head, “Not yet. Our outing for today will remain a surprise until we get there. Unless you’ve already looked ahead?”
He’s teasing you and you know it, “I’ve kept my hands to myself, thank you.” You assure him with a light nudge to his side, trying to ignore the amused smile that paints his features.
He nudges you back, “Good. Keep it that way.”
The bus arrives a few moments later, it’s door stopping in front of Taehyung. The both of you get up and approach the doors, waiting off to the side for previous passengers to exit. You’re about to walk around Taehyung when the last one exits, but his arm flies in front of your chest and stops you in your tracks. You have half a mind to snap at the blonde, but your anger disappears when you see why he stopped you.
“Here let me help you.” Taehyung steps forward to grab the front end of a child’s stroller, gently lifting it and helping the mother carefully steps down herself with a little girl right behind her. Taehyung sets the stroller’s wheels on the ground and turns to the little girl with a bow on the top of her head and her hair poking out like a sprout and offers her a gentle hand with a wide smile, “Here you go, baby. Watch your step.”
The young girl takes his hand and jumps off the last step, just barely reaching the sidewalk with a little help from Taehyung. Her mother cheers for her and reaches out a hand for her to come back by her side. With a quick bow she thanks Taehyung and they continue on their way. You can’t help but watch the little girl bounce after her mother, her little feet almost dancing as she toddles on. No doubt Taehyung had just made that mother’s day easier and her child’s day happier.
“Ladies first.” Taehyung motions for you to board in front of him and you climb the steps, scanning your bus pass, and walking to the first available seats close to the back. You slide into the window seat and pull your bag into your lap, Taehyung settling into the seat beside you
The bus starts moving and the two of you are locked into a peaceful silence. Well, as peaceful as it can be for Taehyung. He told himself to leave his worries behind, but he’s still sitting next to you with every worry resting on his shoulders.
You’re more than happy not worrying about the humans around you or the mischievous god to your left. It’s a nice change of pace from the museum, especially with the view of the city right outside of your window. Leisure trips aren’t something you’re often used to. Unless someone needs you or you’re required to intervene, you really don’t go anywhere. It’s almost pleasant, but it’s hard to forget the company you keep when his legs won’t stay still.
“Are you okay?” You ask.
“Huh?”
“Are. You. O-K?” You repeat slowly, “Your leg is shaking like crazy.”
“I’m just excited for our destination, that's all.” He assures you.
You nod, deciding to let it go for now. You’d find out soon enough.
The bus comes to a stop in front of a large, colorful building no Taehyung shoots up, “This is our stop!” He races from his seat down the aisle and you stand up and follow after him. You exit a few people after him and find the blonde staring at the large building in front of you. Dozens of children run freely, their parents rushing after them as teens and young couples parade around hand in hand.
You come to a stop beside Taehyung and give his arm a playful nudge, “Don’t tell me you were excited just to look at a building?”
He shakes his head, “I think you’re really going to enjoy yourself today.”
Without even thinking about it, Taehyung takes your hand and drags you behind him. All the way to the front doors of the building where a small line of people wait. He doesn’t miss a second and pulls out his phone, moving his head close to yours and smiling at his screen. His phone goes dark for a split second before he pulls it back to his chest. He moves on like what he did was nothing, but you’re left confused.
“What was that?” You ask.
Taehyung stops scrolling through his phone, long enough to raise an eyebrow at you. “You aren’t serious.” When you nod his eyes go even wider, “You work at a museum and you don’t know what a picture is?!”
“It’s a painting.”
“That’s a portrait.”
“There’s a difference?”
“Yes. There is, and I’m going to take millions and millions of pictures to prove it!” To make his point, he pulls the hand holding yours away to throw it over your shoulder. He taps relentlessly at his screen, occasionally switching up the angle. You try to throw a hand in front of your face to block his new attack, but he’s quick to adjust his camera to continue his harmless assault. “Why are you hiding? I’m trying to teach you what a real picture is.”
“Taehyung!” You try to push away, but the blonde has a tight grip on you.
“Take pictures with me!” He whines, trying to inch his face even closer to yours.
You can hear the humans snickering around you, but your companion doesn’t seem to care at all. He has no problem keeping you caged against him while he “takes real pictures” in a weak attempt to persuade you. He doesn’t give up in the line or on the escalator going down until you get closer to the front and he has to let you go.
“Have you purchased your tickets already?” The kind woman asks as you attempt to fix your hair from Taehyung’s attack.
Taehyung slaps his thighs with both hands before shoving them inside his far pocket and pulling out folded papers. He hands them to her, “Here you are.”
She unfolds them and takes a quick look over the words on each page, pulling a scanner similar to the ones at the museum to check them both in before handing them back with a smile, “Enjoy your time today.”
“Thank you. We will!”
The both of you move on, walking to the second set of doors beyond the ticket line and walking through to see just how big the building really is. The outside doesn’t do justice to the humans who designed something so beautiful. The entrance gives a great view of the entire park, showing off several buildings and attractions, as well the flora and special decorations placed to appease the humans that visit. Everything is so well cared for, and the glass roof just makes everything look so bright and inviting.
“Do you see anything you’d like to do first?” Taehyung asks.
You’ve heard plenty about amusement parks. Many human’s string’s will entangle themselves in gears and doors, tied to trivial things like rides and children’s games. Their opinions all seem to differ with most of them split in half on how they truly feel about the park.
You shrug, “Why don’t you choose?”
You should not have let Taehyung choose. Especially not what the humans call a rollercoaster. What insane, psychopath designed a high speed death trap that turns you on your side and flips you upside down in a metal cage?! Only one deity is sadistic enough to test the limits of Life and Death like this, and you’re positive Yoongi had something to do with the creation of such a monstrosity. At one point, you were sure Taehyung was going to lose his hands!
Not every ride was as terrible. The pirate ship had seemed gentle enough at first, but then it kept going higher and higher and you started to feel yourself slipping out of your seat. You even wrapped your arm around Taehyungs to ensure you didn’t go flying over the metal bar they’d placed against your lap.
Every ride the two of you climbed onto felt like one death trap after another. There was no way Yoongi himself didn’t come down and design each and every inhumane attraction himself just to create some form of chaos. Anyone who actually enjoyed a near death experience needs to sign themselves up for human therapy.
After your last brush with Death, you sat yourself down on a bench to catch your breath and maybe your sanity as well.
“Are you okay?” Taehyung asks.
“What?”
“Are. You. O-K?” He teases, “You’re looking a little pale for someone that isn’t capable of getting sick.”
“Well, my complexion is all thanks to you and your death traps!” You remind him. You feel like your stomach is in your throat and you don’t even have a stomach! “How could humans actually enjoy these things?”
The blonde shrugs, “You’re just not a thrill chaser. Humans like a rush.”
You look at him astonished and bewildered, “Do they forget they’re mortal?! They could die!”
“That’s the fun of it!”
You groan and lean into the back of your bench, “Oh, you really have lost it.”
Taehyung can’t help but laugh at your misery. This is the first time he’s seen you so out of your element, and it’s almost refreshing. But he reminds himself that you’re supposed to be having fun. “C’mon, we went on some nice rides.”
“Oh, yes! The children’s rides! Those were much safer.” Taehyung laughs again and you give him a quick glare to shut him up, “Why can’t the humans just enjoy simple things?”
“Because YOLO.”
“Bless you.”
“No, it’s a saying. It means ‘you only live once’,” Taehyung explains, “There are quite a few humans that live by that.”
“They would risk the one life they have for a phrase?”
“They would risk it for a chance to have fun and feel alive.” He says, rephrasing the words in a way you could understand, “Most humans have to work to live. There are only a few that don’t need to worry about food or shelter. So, those that can make a point to have as much fun before they can’t anymore.”
“I guess that’s admirable...” You’d never really taken the time to consider why humans do what they do. It all seems pointless when you’re eternal. The concept is nice to think about when you give some thought to it. It almost makes what Taehyung has been trying to do a decent idea.
You stand before you can continue thinking as a human would, “Alright, what death traps are left?”
Taehyungs smile grows, “I’m glad you asked.”
---
“Where’s the bar?”
“It’s behind you.”
When Taehyung dragged you to the large, circular ride with couches around it’s side, you weren’t sure what to expect. But if there’s one thing you’ve learned about human rides, it’s that they need bars in front of you.
“Excuse me? What about a lap bar?”
“This ride doesn’t have one.”
“Not even a belt?”
“Nope.”
“What do I do if I can’t hold on?”
“Just hold on tight.” As soon as he says this, the ride starts. It just spins around at first, and that isn’t so bad. At least, not until the ride starts to bounce as well. The first one has you falling out of your seat and onto the floor.
Taehyung grabs your hand, having expected this to happen, “I told you to hold on!” He pulls you back into the seat next to him and you grab onto the bar once again. The blonde tries to let go, but you reach for his shirt and hold it like you could actually die if you fell again. He laughs, “You’re not supposed to hold onto me!”
“If I’m going down then so are you!” You yell, gripping the bar behind you and hoping for the ride to be over soon.
Every bump has you edging closer and closer to the moon god and it’s a miracle you aren’t sitting in his lap by the end of the ride. As soon as it stops, you’re finally able to catch your breath. You find yourself praying to Hui, hoping he’ll hear your plea and switch your job with Yoongi’s.
Taehyung, however, is trying not to freak out at your close proximity to him. You’re holding onto his jacket like the kitten he’d visited at the pet store, like falling is only inevitable if you let go of him. Your head is resting under his chin, the hand holding onto your top being the only thing to stop you from hitting him.
“Are you still okay?” He asks.
You pull away slowly, unbothered by how close the two of you had been due to your fear of dying on a human toy, “Fortunately.”
“How about we go on the last ride now?” Taehyung suggests, exchanging the hand he holds you with to take the elbow closest to him.
You don’t bother hiding the frown on your face, “Do we have to?”
“I think you’ll like this one.”
The blonde helps you off of the ride and lets you cling to his arm all the way to the other side of the park where your last ride awaits. Another circular ride, only this one has cars similar to the rolling death trap he’d locked you into only 4 rides into your experience.
You stop in the middle of the walkway, pulling Taehyung back and causing the humans to move around you, “You want me to go on the spinning death wheel? Two in a row?!”
“It’s not what you think.” You give Taehyung a look and he rolls his eyes, “Come on.”
You let him take you through the line, deciding to lift yourself up for the ride instead of letting the fear you have tear you apart. Even as you’re let on the ride and once again locked in next to Taehyung you’re trying to decide if fleeing to the other side of the planet is worth blowing your cover.
“Are you okay?” The worker settling your bar in place asks.
You offer him a weak nod, “Yeah… I’m fine.”
He hands you a small, blue plastic bag with a ring holding it open and smiles, “Just in case then.”
He goes to start the ride and you’re left confused, “What’s this for?”
“How should I know?”
The ride lurches and you grab on tight to the bar, finding yourself going backward a few feet and stopping.
“Just calm down.” Taehyung coos. He places his hand over yours and rubs his thumb over the back of it, “You worry too much.”
Your eyes are locked on his hand over yours, “Why are you doing that?”
“To comfort you.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re freaking out.”
“Oh…”
“I can stop if you want.” Taehyung starts to let go, but the ride moves again and you grab onto his hand yourself.
“No!” You cry. Taehyung can’t help but laugh at how different you are in this moment, and you try your best to brush it off, “Just until we get off. That way if this monstrosity breaks you have no choice but to go to.”
Taehyung smiles knowingly, “Whatever makes you feel better.”
You cling to Taehyung as the ride continues to stop and go, squeezing his hand on the occasional tilt the car makes. It isn’t until the ride - starts to actually spin continuously that you really begin to enjoy the ride itself. You somehow manage to actually like this ride, so much so that you convince the ride attendant to let you go around again. Taehyung has no complaints, especially if you’re going to smile the whole time.
You come to a stop near the top and the blonde turns to you, “So, are you enjoying yourself?” He asks with a teasing smile.
You, however, couldn’t care less if you were wrong or not at this moment. Up in the air looking down at the colorful lights of the other rides, you feel free. You have no responsibilities up here. You exist peacefully and happily without any problems holding you back.
You’re no one.
“I’ll give you this, Moon god, this ride is nice.” You lean back in the car, letting your body rest into Taehyung’s, “I think I can understand this.”
“Not the others?” He asks, teasing more than genuine curiosity.
You shrug, “Humans are strange. If they have natural Death wishes then so be it, but I suppose that the thrill could have some appeal to the right people.”
Taehyung sighs and let’s go of your hand, using his arm to wrap around your shoulders, “I was hoping you'd see things my way.”
You smile and poke his nose the way he’d done to you the other day, “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Taehyung. We’re not there yet.”
“Yet~” He says with an air of hope.
“We’ll see how you play your cards.” You say. For now, you intend to enjoy the moment while it’s still here.
---
“So, what are we doing here?” You ask.
Taehyung had told you today would be even better than yesterday before the two of you parted last night - and with how terrible those rides had been it should be pretty easy to make a good impression. Anything would be better than getting on those traps again.
“We’re shopping!” He says excitedly, but his enthusiasm has you confused.
“Why?”
“Because it’s fun?”
“But you don’t need to buy things.” You remind him, “You’re a deity. You can make whatever you want.”
“Yeah, but this feels more human.”
You tilt your head in confusion, “Why would you want to feel human?”
He sighs - he won’t get anywhere when you’re like this, “Why don’t I just show you and then you can ask questions?”
You move to the side and extend your hand, presenting the way for him, “Lead the way.”
He takes your outstretched hand and leads you down the sidewalk, walking in front of you with your connected hands behind his back to lead you through the crowd. You begrudgingly walk behind him, looking at the shop windows as you pass.
“This way!” Taehyung squeezes your hand and pulls you to the left, and you unconsciously squeeze back and follow him. He takes you to the entrance of a store with it’s door wide open, a rack full of children’s clothes keeping the door from closing.
The store itself is filled with nothing but clothes of all types and various accessories scattered across the shop. Young women cling together as they scan the racks and some show off their finds near the back. An older gentleman and a boy who looks to be his son stick to the men’s section to the right of the store, the son shaking his head here and there when his father shows him a new item.
Taehyung immediately takes off for the women’s section without you and you’re not really sure why he’s the excited one. You follow him anyways, arms crossed and so far highly unimpressed with his first pick of the day.
“Trying to relive the old days?” You jest as the blonde sifts through the rack.
“Nope.” He says, choosing to ignore you in favor of looking through the clothes. He keeps going for a few seconds until he finds something he deems worthy enough, “Here it is!”
You half expected him to pull out a dress, but you’re surprised when he pulls out a shirt very similar to his. You double take and realize that it is the same shirt before you’re back to being unimpressed, “What is that?”
“A shirt.”
You’re offended that he would think you’re that incompetant, “I know it’s a shirt! Why would I want it?”
“So we can match!” He shakes the shirt out of excitement and almost drops it when he spots something else, “Look! They even have cute little scrunches!” He picks one up, a little, blue hair piece with yellow crescents all over it.
“You mean like this?” You ask, placing your palms flat as if they’re against a table and lifting, flipping them over to reveal the same bow, “Something I can make?”
Taehyung feels deflated and he doesn’t say anything right away. You’re a very to-the-point person, and he knows there’s only one way he can really get through to you.
“Could I see that for a second?” Taehyung asks, pointing to the scrunchie in your hand. You look down at it and shrug, handing it over to him without a second thought. He smiles, “Thanks.”
He takes both your scrunchie and the scrunchie he had picked up and chucks from across the store, one landing on a rack and the other in someone’s hair. You’re stunned by the fact that he - of all people - would even consider such a thing, “Taehyung-!”
Taehyung smiles - as if he hadn’t just done anything wrong - and places his empty hand on your shoulder, “New plan. You don’t get to say no to this.” He turns you around by the shoulder and nudges you in the direction of the exit, “Come on.”
You groan as he leads you to the register. Yesterday was fine, but if this is how the rest of today is going to go, then you want it to end now.
Taehyung stops in front of the register and places both the shirt and the scrunchie in front of the attendant, “We’ll take these, please.”
“Oh! Matching shirts! The both of you are going to look so cute! Here-” The girl scans the shirt, grabs a number placard, and hands both of them to you, “You can use our changing room to put it on before you leave.”
“No, that’s o-” You were perfectly happy denying her help, but the kicked puppy look Taehyung is giving you has you back peddling. You muster the most sincere smile you can, “Yes. Thank you. I appreciate the offer.”
You leave Taehyung to pay the human, begrudgingly walking to the fitting rooms she had so kindly offered you. This was not your idea of fun. This is an unnecessary waste of your time. Why anyone would willingly waste their day just to change clothes you don’t think you’ll ever understand.
Looking at yourself in the mirror, you can at least appreciate the color. It’s simple enough that you don’t have to worry about standing out. But standing next to Taehyung wearing matching shirts isn’t going to help you any.
“(Y/n)? Are you done?” Taehyung asks, his voice echoing from the other side of the door. You sigh, relenting to a fate of your own and open the door, the shirt you were wearing hanging over your arm.
“Well?” You ask. The blonde takes a step back from the door, eyeing you up and down.
“Wow…” His smile is so wide you’d think the action hurts. He looks like a child seeing snow for the first time. He's so excited. His beaming smile - as well as the giggling girls standing in front of the room next to you - has you feeling hot with embarrassment.
You shuffle forward and cross your arms, “Are you happy now?”
“Very.” He assures you. He knew you were pretty, but you just look so cute when you’re all flustered. It’s nice to see you finally being the one grasping for straws. “Come on, we have a lot to do.”
---
“Food?” You ask, eyeing the numerous stalls that line the street in front of you.
Taehyung nods, “You’ve only had a diet of shrimp chips and strawberry milk. I think it’s time you branch out.”
He leads you to the first stall and points to a tray before he hands the man money in exchange for two sticks with something skewered to them. He hands one to you, and you’re left staring at the item in your hand, “And this is?”
“Food. Eat it.” You’re unsure at first, but you agreed(forcefully agreed) to do whatever Taehyung decided to do for the day. You take a hesitant bite, but one bite is all it took to understand. Taehyung must be able to tell by whatever expression you’re making, “Good, isn’t it?”
You turn to the vendor with your mouth still somewhat full, “Can we get 2 more, please?”
He nods and gets you two more, but Taehyung is quick to take them out of his hands before you can. “Don’t fill up! We have a whole street to go through.” He gestures to the other stalls around you, and for once you’re actually excited to listen to the mischievous god.
It takes you almost 2 hours just to get back to where you started, and you’re sure you’d be on the ground if you were a human. You have to give Taehyung credit where it’s due, this was a great idea.
“What’s next?” You ask, turning to Taehyung with a bit more hope for the future.
He shrugs, “I guess we could go around for seconds but that might scare the humans.”
You frown, realizing how reckless you’ve been, “I guess you’re right.”
Your change in demeanor throws Taehyung for a loop. This isn’t the first time you’ve dismissed him - or anything - like this. He knows you’re reluctant to tell him, so he thinks of something that’ll get your attention, “Lets look at what trinkets are being sold.”
“Trinkets?” You ask curiously.
“Like the things Jimin sells in the gift shop.”
“Merchandise?”
He shrugs, “Sure.”
Taehyung leads you back down the street, passing several food stalls before he reaches a jewelry stand that might catch your attention. He takes a quick look over the items on display before he finds one you might actually enjoy.
He turns around and pulls you closer to the stand, pointing to the simple, silver necklace with a glittering ball charm, “What do you think about this?”
You shrug, “It’s no soulmate necklace, but I guess it’s nice.” Taehyung seems disappointed by your response so you take a closer look. It’s nice in theory, pretty and sparkling. You’d have to guess anyone would enjoy something like this. “The charm is shiny.”
“Well, yeah. It’s supposed to be.” You give him a look, and he chuckles. He gets the vendor’s attention and waves them over, “How much is this?”
“5.”
Taehyung pulls out some money and hands it over, “Here you go.”
You watch him as he puts the money away, “Why’d you buy it?”
“The little things! Now, turn around.” You give in and turn around, waiting for the inevitable push forward to come. But instead, Taehyung’s hands come down over your head and with one end of the necklace in each hand, “There. Now you look even better.”
“Oh? So I was ugly before?” You ask, turning around to face the Moon god with a teasing smile.
Taehyung’s eyes widen, “What? No! That’s not what I meant! You’re beautiful, I just-” He finds it hard to come up with the right words to say, “-I just think this compliments your look.”
“Thank you.” You say, feeling the heat in your cheeks. You’re also at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond. You’ve never been complimented by someone, “Um-...What else did you want to do today?”
Taehyung looks at his watch and sighs, “It’s not time for us to go to our next surprise, so I guess we’ll have to be spontaneous.”
“Spontaneous? What a big word, I’m impressed.” You tease, earning a glare from the blonde. You sigh, “Fine. I’m sorry. Lead the way.”
The two of you were able to find a park. At least this one wasn’t full of death traps like the other had been. This one only had slides, a merry-go-round, swings, and rocking horses. Of course, you were skeptical at first, but Taehyung’s judgement had proved to be good enough. It was simple enough, and far less terrifying than the amusement park. He was right when he said it’d buy you some time, because the two of you spent quite a bit of time enjoying the playsets made for human children until you finally had to leave for your next surprise.
“Next!” The attendant calls out before the family in front of you even moves. Taehyung leads the way around them to the counter, and you follow behind him like you have all day. The human teenager seems less than enthused to be stuck in a box, “For two?”
Taehyung nods, “Yes. We’d like the 7:30 showing of Save Me.”
The boy tells him the price and holds out his hand, accepting the money Taehyung gives him and handing back two tickets in return, “Enjoy the show. Next!”
“I think we just found Yoongi’s twin.” Taehyung says, more to himself than to you, but it has you bursting into laughter. The blonde opens the door for you, amused by your reaction, “Oh, so you do think I’m funny?”
“No!” You stop and wait for him to catch up with you before you relent, “Okay, so maybe you can be funny, but it’s not a common thing for you.”
He scoffs, “Uhuh, sure. Let’s just get some snacks.”
“Comfort food?”
“As much as we can handle.”
And he stays true to that. The two of you put the poor girl behind the snack counter through the ringer with the amount of candies you buy. The tray to hold your hot food is so packed that you have to carry the popcorn and two of the boxes you bought so it all could fit! The humans that you pass on your way to your movie send you judgemental looks, but if you were them, then you probably would too.
Taehyung leads the way to a small, two-seat balcony section over the theater’s entrance, the first row so you don’t have to hold your tray throughout the movie. You both get settled while videos play on the screen - something that the human’s call previews. Taehyung picks up the hot food he had bought first to eat, and you have no complaints eating them while you wait for your movie to start.
When the lights do finally dim and the crowd in the theater begins to hush, you can’t help but turn to Taehyung, “This isn’t going to be scary, is it?”
“Can I be honest with you?” He asks. You nod, “I have no clue.”
---
Thankfully for you, the movie had not been scary. There were some parts that had you jump from the sudden action, but nothing terrible. It was entertaining for something made in the eyes of a human.
“How clever are humans to paint Fate so well? I’m actually impressed with their interpretation!” You rave as you leave the theater.
Your smile is radiant and Taehyung can feel himself relax, “So, does that mean you liked the movie?” He asks.
“It was enjoyable,” You agree. You can’t deny that seeing your job portrayed correctly has taken you off guard. Not only that, but it’s amusing to think that humans understand your duties better than the deity in front of you. “Though, I’m confused as to why Fate was a talking house cat.”
He shrugs, “Humans are innovative. Their creativity doesn’t have any bounds.”
“I suppose you could say that.” The both of you walk around the corner of the building to the alley, out of eyesight from the humans, “Same time tomorrow?” You ask.
Taehyung nods, “Yeah. Wear sneakers.”
“Sure thing. I’ll see you later.” You look around before you disappear, leaving Taehyung to stare at the empty space where you stood.
This is only your second day out and it feels like an eternity. But the feeling isn’t bad at all. Neither of you have really pushed at the other like you normally do and it’s weird. It’s like that line of friend and enemy has been crossed and you don’t have to be Fate or Moon God.
You’re just (Y/n) and Taehyung.

Both you and Taehyung walk down the street, fairly close to the museum. He’d taken you for a late morning-early afternoon bike ride through the park a few blocks over. Taehyung himself has always found bikes to be a bit more exciting than cars, enjoying the feeling of flying through the air and seeing nature’s colors without a shield.
You sigh, “I’ve never realized just how beautiful trees can be.” You’ve never spent much time on Earth - even in the past few weeks that you’ve spent babysitting. But today you both spent a good hour or so just riding around the park - you even biked the path next to the river. Of course, like everything else, it took a moment for you to really get into everything, but today has been the fastest you’ve given in and felt something other than indifference. Not only did you relax, but Taehyung was able to as well.
“It’s a lot nicer when you can feel the wind through your hair. It makes it feel more magical.” Taehyung agrees. He’d never say it outloud, but this version of you has really captured his attention. He’s barely even thought about worrying over Namjoon and Eunha. There’s just something about the time you’ve spent together that just feels right now.
“I guess it does.”
Taehyung smiles and jogs in front of you, stopping in front of a restaurant, pulling open the door, and offering you a deep bow, “Madame~”
You attempt to bite back a smile and give a small nod back, “Thank you.”
Walking into the cozy little restaurant, you are quickly greeted by the middle aged woman at the counter, “Welcome!”
She’s turned around, so she doesn’t see who’s entered, but Taehyung walks up to the counter and greets her back, “Good afternoon, Yuna!”
Yuna turns around and coos when she confirms it’s Taehyung, “Taehyung!” He waves back at her and she nods, turning back around and tapping the window cut into the wall, “Mom! One of your regulars is here.”
“Who is it?” You hear her before you see her, the door to the kitchen opening to reveal Ms. Oh with her hair tucked away in a hair net. She scans her restaurant and a smile breaks out on her face when she sees Taehyung standing at her counter, “Oh! Taehyung, my handsome boy! Give me a hug.” Ms. Oh all but runs around her front counter and holds out her arms, Taehyung wrapping his arms over the elder woman. She squeezes him tight and sways him back and forth, pulling away to look over his shoulder, “Where’s Hoseok and Jimin?”
He shrugs, “They’re working today.”
“Oh, I see...” She nods in understanding. Turning her attention to you, her eyes going back and forth between you and Taehyung before something seems to click in her brain and any confusion she had turns into mischief, “And who’s this lovely lady~?”
You smile, “(Y/n), it’s nice to meet you.”
“We’re here on a date.” Taehyung adds, a mischievous smile of his own.
Ms. Oh gasps, “A date?!” Taehyung nods and poor Ms. Oh looks like she’s going to have a fit. She turns Taehyung around and pushes him towards you, the deity grabbing onto your shoulders to steady himself, “Oh, you sit down and stop talking to a little old lady like me. You have this beautiful young woman next to you and you’re going to waste time talking to some prune?!”
Taehyung adheres to her advice and starts to lead you to a table by the window, Ms. Oh following the two of you with a menu. He can’t stop himself from adding on as you sit down, “Her beauty is only second to yours, Ms. Oh~”
“You’re not getting a discount. Sit.” She taps his shoulder with the menu and he complies, sitting down and accepting her menu with both hands.
She ruffles his hair and walks away, leaving you both amused and confused, “Well, she’s charming.”
“Ms. Oh is full of personality. Hoseok only comes here for her.” Taehyung laughs before adding on, “And her kimchi.”
The two order their food and continue to make small talk as they wait. It’s hard to miss Ms. Oh peeking over the order window, and Taehyung makes a show out of waving at her everytime he catches her. It’s no surprise when she personally delivers their food to them.
“Here we are~ I expect this food to be all gone before you leave, do you understand?” She gives both of you an expectant look.
Taehyung nods, “Yes, ma’am.”
“Good. Now-” She grabs a chair from a nearby table, pulls it over, and sits down, “-how did the two of you meet?”
“(Y/n) is actually the owner of the museum.” Taehyung explains, taking a bite of his food.
This seems to impress Ms. Oh, “She is?!” She looks to you for confirmation and you do with a hand covering your mouth. She leans back in her seat with a small, seemingly knowing smile, “Wow, so you’re really hitting it off with the boss~”
You choke on your food and Taehyung chuckles, “You could say that.”
Ms. Oh sighs, “I understand. I was hitting it off with the boss’ son back in my day. It got me this restaurant!”
“Mom! Leave that poor couple alone!” Yuna scolds from across the room.
You wave your hands before you speak up, “No, she’s fine!”
She smiles at you and Taehyung continues the conversation, “So, you took over your husband’s family business?”
“I’m afraid it wasn’t until after he died that I took over, but we did run it together for 45 years.” Ms. Oh looks out the window, most likely reminiscing on old days when her husband was alive and well. You give Taehyung a small kick under the table for bringing up a sensitive topic, and his hiss of pain has Ms. Oh breaking out of her thoughts. She must catch onto what happened, because she puts her hand over yours and laughs, “You sweet thing! Your friend Hoseok reminds me of him when he stops by. He likes my kimchi almost as much as my Changbin did.”
Even with a smile, you can still tell how much pain she went through, “I am so sorry for your loss.”
She sighs, “It was a while ago. That wound has closed over now.”
“Still-...those 45 years must have been wonderful.” Taehyung adds, offering a warm smile.
“I cherish every single moment and memory. I keep my most important one’s close to me.” Ms. Oh looks over to where Yuna hands over a delivery order.
“Is Yuna your only child?” You ask.
She squeezes your hand, “My eldest - Hanbin - died in the car accident with his father. Soobin hasn’t spoken to me since he graduated high school.”
“I’m so sorry…” You’re at a loss for words. Comforting humans - comforting others - is not something you’re used to.
“That’s Fate for you.” She shrugs, unbeknownst to her that she’s holding Fate’s hand. Your eyes widen and you look to Taehyung for help, but he’s keeping his head down. Thankfully, Ms. Oh’s determination and free spirit can’t be stopped by something as trivial as strings, “But Fate has brought me wonderful customers such as yourself.”
You smile, “Thank you.”
“And besides, I get plenty of handsome young men coming into my store everyday. Fate blessed me there.” She looks at Taehyung with another bright smile, but you’re no longer as happy as you were, “Oh, look-! I’ve dampened the mood.” Ms. Oh stands up and puts her chair back where it belongs, “The two of you eat up and enjoy each other’s company. Make the most of it.”
“Thank you.” Taehyung gives her a small bow before she walks back to her kitchen, leaving you to sit and think about this nice human who’s had everything cut short by her own family’s strings.
Your strings.
Taehyung sets his head on the table where your eyes stare at nothing, “You okay?”
You meet his eyes and look past him to watch Ms. Oh hug her daughter, “She’s so happy...yet she’s had so much taken from her.”
Taehyung shrugs, “You haven’t been kind to her.”
You nod in agreement, “I wish I could have been.”
---
After lunch with Ms. Oh, you had to make a quick stop by the museum. You didn’t say what you had to get, but Taehyung was happy to wait for you by the front doors. He made good conversation with Jin, even found out a bit more about the man’s many, many failed relationships. Thankfully, you were back within a few minutes, and the two of you still managed to make it to the mall and window shop before you were called away by the council.
Council meetings always come on like cold chills, and it was hard to miss with how violently your body shook. He could tell you were reluctant to go, especially if he wasn’t going with you. But he let you go, assuring you that the outing for tomorrow would need rest anyway.
Now, he stands in front of his apartment door fiddling with the keys to enter his apartment the correct way for the first time in days.
“Hey, I’m ho-Oh!” Taehyung stumbles back, throwing a hand over his eyes. Jimin takes up the couch, sharing his “time” with someone he can’t see, “Sorry…”
Jimin stands up and sighs, fixing his shirt, “It’s okay. Nothing we can’t get back to.” Jeongguk sits up with his brown mop tousled and bruises all over his neck and chin - As surprised as Taehyung is, he really shouldn’t be. Jimin sits back down and crosses his arms, “I see you’re still alive. I wasn’t sure when you didn’t come barging into my room.”
“Yesterday and today went great!” He explains. He begins to take off his shoes, “I took her to an amusement park the first day - and that probably wasn’t my best decision - she really didn’t like a lot of the rides, but she actually relaxed for once! And then today! I took her shopping and we got matching shirts, and we ate tons of food, and I even bought her this cute little necklace. SHe actually liked it. And we-!”
Jimin holds up his hands, “Woah, woah, woah! Hold on! Slow down for a minute.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re starting to sound like you like her.”
Taehyung shrugs, “So? Isn’t that a good thing?”
“No! If you like her then she can use you!” Jimin hits the coffee table with his hand and stands from the couch, “I should’ve known this would happen.”
Taehyung tilts his head in confusion, “What would happen?”
“You!” Jimin yells, “You’re too soft! Too good. If you keep going like this then she’ll only stab you in the back.”
“I’m just getting to know her!”Taehyung defends, “She’s actually not that bad once you find common ground. She actually does this cute little thing with her nose when she’s scared-”
Jimin crosses the room and grabs Taehyung by the front of his shirt, “-Stop it! Listen to yourself! Friends shouldn’t be cute to you!”
“I think you’re overreacting, Jimin.” Jeongguk pipes up from the couch.
JImin turns around with a glare, “Stay out of this, Kookie!”
Taehyung takes this opportunity to push Jimin’s hands off of him, “I’m just trying to get her on our side.”
“Yeah? Well, don’t forget who dropped everything to help you in the first place.” The blond reminds him.
Taehyung is stunned for a minute, “You could’ve said no.” He’s never shown distaste since the first day he agreed to help him. He’s only used every opportunity to reinvent this new version of him. If Jimin was unhappy, then he had ample opportunity to tell him.
“A good friend would help you!”
“Then why are you so angry?!”
“Because you’re letting Fate blind you!” Jimin pushes against Taehyung’s chest and the Moon god stumbles back into the wall behind him, “You’re letting her get into your head, and before you know it everything we’ve worked for will be for nothing-!”
“-You’re wrong!” Taehyung yells, pushing back against him in retaliation, “You don’t know that!”
Jeongguk tries to grab JImin in hopes of reeling him in, but the Earth god throws his arms out to the side, “She doesn’t care, Taehyung! She doesn’t care about the humans and she doesn’t care about you!”
“Then stay out of it!” Taehyung turns his back to his friend and returns to the door where his shoes are.
“Where are you going?” Jimin asks, still very angry.
Taehyung picks up his shoes and shrugs, “If you won’t help with my plan then I won’t force you.”
“Taehyung wait-!” Jeongguk tried, but the Moon couldn’t care less. He’s been around people that don’t want to be near him long enough to understand when he should just go.
He finds himself by the river again. Not even 12 hours ago he was here with you and he was smiling and happy and free and now it’s tainted. He can feel his own rays of light shining down to give him warmth, but it’s for nothing. He doesn’t feel it.
At a moment like this, he just wants to feel something.
You’d like to feel less.
Council meetings have never been anyone’s favorite. It’s very rare that every deity is required to attend, and it’s tasked upon the High 6 to meet regularly to maintain balance. You’ve done it since the beginning of the universe and you doubt it wil stop until the very end. The only thing worse than a regular meeting and a full meeting, is a meeting called to discuss the Pillars of Balance.
These meetings are never in your favor.
“Have the 3 of you forgotten how your jobs work?” Seowoo - the Cosmos asks, annoyance dripping from her tongue.
You, Yoongi, and Hoseok stand before the other 3, holding your ground together as they all stare you down. Seowoo is almost livid, while Juhyun looks like he doesn’t care either way. Hui - as always - is almost impossible to read.
“It’s not like we haven’t been trying. You try spending 6 days straight with Taehyung and see if you can tolerate him enough.”
Juhyun sighs, “Why don’t we just strip his powers away? Won’t that fix the problem?” He doesn’t even attempt to hide his boredom.
Seowoo shakes her head, “He needs to be stripped of his powers! We warned him the first time and look where that got us!”
You absolutely disagree, “Don’t you think that’s a bit harsh?” You ask.
She scoffs, “You’re the reason we’re in this position in the first place!”
“Excuse me?”
“We should have taken his powers away years ago, but you just had to baby him!”
You’re offended, “Because it was his first offense and I thought he learned his lesson! You’re the ones that didn’t try to understand him!” You’ve never once shown special treatment to anyone. You definitely aren’t now.
“Oh, I understand him alright. He’s a menace, and you’ve only encouraged his behavior!”
“I tried to do what was best for him!” You argue.
Juhyun pipes up, “What about what’s best for everyone else?”
He makes a valid point, but you know that taking the powers away really won’t be helping anyone, “He’s lonely on his planet. Taking away his ability to visit others won’t fix that.”
“Maybe he’d stop trying to do everyone’s job…” Seowoo mumbles, crossing her arms over her chest and sitting back in her chair.
“This is just a rough patch for him.” You explain. You know Taehyung, and as much as he thinks you’re changing, he’s changing just as much. “He needs to see that this isn’t going to go the way he wants and he’ll stop!”
“Or he’ll do it all over again!” Seowoo argues, completely exasperated.
Juhyun looks to Hoseok and Yoongi on either side of you for some kind of helpful input, “Are the two of you listening to this?”
Hoseok nods, “We stand behind (Y/n)’s decisions.”
Seowoo groans in annoyance and turns to the only other person who can do anything, “Hui, talk some sense into them. Into her.”
“(Y/n)-” He stands from his chair and leaves his platform, extending his arm to you, “Come with me.”
You ignore the pleased smile on Seowoo’s face and take his arm, allowing him to lead you away from the enclosed room. He takes you to a small balcony just off the room, a curtain being the only door between you and the others. The balcony has a beautiful view of the galaxy, showcasing twinkling stars and distant planets. You try to enjoy it, but your nerves are too on edge.
Hui joins you, resting his arms on the railing, “Have you been alright?”
This takes you by surprise, “Of course! What kind of question is that?” You ask.
“You’ve been acting differently for quite some time now.” He explains, “I’d say since Taehyung first started causing trouble.”
You shake your head, “I think you’re wrong. I’m the same person I’ve always been.”
He turns his head to look at you, “I don’t believe you are.”
You sigh, “Look, Seowoo has always been dramatic. I promise you that I am taking this situation seriously.”
“When Jimin severed the humans from their soulmates, you nearly ended his entire career. You didn’t give Taehyung that treatment.” He’s not wrong, but Jimin’s situation was so much different from Taehyung’s.
“Taehyung messed with the fate of 2 individuals, not an entire population...” You remind him.
Hui looks down and back up, sighing, “What are you trying to achieve?”
“Taehyung doesn’t understand. I’m trying to help him come to terms with their future, but it’s just taking a little longer.”
Hui laughs, “He’s a moon. He doesn’t understand, and it’s very likely he never will. He’s not like you.”
“Taehyung has never had anyone call out to him for help.” You explain, “He’s only insistent on doing this because Namjoon came to him and now he feels responsible!”
“So, that’s what’s wrong with him…” The Universe seems to understand.
“I thought after what happened the first time, he would have understood. That he would have given up on something that was so doomed from the start, but he’s determined.” In a way, you really feel for Taehyung. He’s doing what he thinks is right, but his determination is only causing more pain than good. “I’m just trying to help him.”
“I think you and I both know that helping him is no way to help him.”
“I’m hoping to lessen his pain! We stripped Jimin of his powers and now look at him!” After stripping him of his powers, the Earth god became so much more human-like than anyone could have anticipated. He found other ways to play with humans and make them praise him, and his resentment has yet to fully diminish.
Hui tilts his head in confusion, “We?”
You heave a heavy sigh, “I.”
Hui shrugs, “I thought you said he deserved it? You thought it was best.”
“Well I was wrong!” You admit, slapping your hand against the cool marble railing. Watching Jimin over the years try to assimilate has always made you feel terrible. No matter how justified your actions may have been, watching him has always felt wrong, “Let me make this right.”
He sighs, “You know, Fate has no use for Hope.”
You laugh, “Some omnipotent being I am…”
Hui shrugs, “You can’t help that you’ve fallen in love.”
His words have you whipping your head faster than the speed of light, “What?”
“You can’t help that yo-”
“No. I heard you the first time.” You assure him. You heard him loud and clear and he could not be more wrong, “I’m not in love with Taehyung.”
He smiles knowingly, “I never said it was Taehyung.”
“But you implied it was!” He raises an eyebrow as if to challenge you, and you’re astonished. You can feel the heat rising on your cheeks and you find yourself stumbling over your words, “I am not in- In love with Taehyung! He’s a thorn in my side!”
He chuckles and turns his attention to the view in front of you, “You’re lucky.”
“Excuse me?”
“Your job brings you close to humans. You get to experience their emotions far more than the rest of us.” He explains, his gaze locked on the inhabited planet.
You’re completely confused, “Is there a point you’re trying to make? Gods have no use for emotions.”
“Is that so?” He asks. He turns his head to you with a mischievous smile, “Or is that just what we decided was best?”
You pout, “We’ve already seen what human emotions can do to us 1 too many times…”
“And we’ve learned.” He agrees, “Why don’t you give it a shot?”
You shake your head, “How is an emotion like love supposed to help me right now?”
“Let me ask you this: Are you doing this to give Taehyung a second chance? Or is this your 4th?” He asks.
It’s been far too long since you were first created as the Goddess of Fate. In that time, you’ve learned the in’s and out’s of what it takes. Most importantly, you’ve experienced most of your rules first hand. It’s been so long and pushed so far out of your mind, that even you forget about your own shortcomings.
“You’ve made mistakes and you have regrets. You’re not perfect.”
You scoff, thinking of Seowoo, “Perfect is apparently a part of the job...”
Hui sighs and pushes away from the railing, “I’ll tell the other’s that this situation is no longer any of our business and you, Yoongi, and Hoseok will make everything right, just as you always do. But do me a favor and remember what we’ve talked about.”
He walks away, leaving you on the balcony by yourself to think. He’s always such a strange character, and sometimes he’s almost unconventional. He should be a God of Mischief instead of your Universe. But he does leave you with many things to mull over.
Are you projecting your own past regrets onto Taehyung without even realizing it? Are you hoping that by fixing Taehyung, you’ll feel better about all of your past mistakes? Do you really see him as just an acquaintance, or are you actually in love with him? It doesn’t make sense to you. There are many reasons to treat him differently.
You can’t be in love with Taehyung.
You feel a tug on your finger, and it’s very light at first, but it soon gets harder and more urgent. This usually means that someone is doing something they shouldn’t, and if the track records are anything to go off of then the Moon god is the one to blame.
You quickly make the travel from Star 13 to Earth, following your strings to the mischievous god. You’re not surprised to see him flinging rocks into the river, nor are you surprised to see the overturned trash cans and benches along the path to him. Taehyung has always been emotional, and he tends to go overboard when he gets upset. You fix most of his mess and hurry to stop him, hoping to get to him before someone calls the human authorities on him.
“You know-” Taehyung stops mid-throw, “there are easier ways to contact me.”
He’s surprised - and he really shouldn’t be. He knew if he caused a big enough scene then you’d have no choice but to come and see what he was up to. A part of him knew exactly what he was doing, but his irrational side would never let him admit it.
Taehyung lets his arm fall to his side and he lightly tosses the last rock into the water, “When have I ever used a normal means?”
You shrug, “I suppose I should’ve expected something like this.”
Neither of you are sure what to say after that. Taehyung is fighting an inner battle with himself, unsure if he actually wants your help or regrets trying in the first place. And you’re still reeling from the conversation with hUi and what exactly it is that you’re feeling. But either way, you are there and Taehyung does need help.
“So-” You start, coming up next to him and sitting in the grass, “What’s bothering you?”
“Why do you think something’s bothering me?” “Okay, so, maybe something is bothering me.”
“Wanna talk about it?” “You ask, patting the spot next to you, “I promise I’ll try my best to not-...” You hesitate, “-be so me.”
“You aren’t the problem,” Taehyung sighs, “Well-” He sits down cross-legged next to you, “-you are, but you aren’t.”
“That doesn’t make sense.”
“I know, just bare with me.”
“Okay.”
Taehyung sighs, “Jimin and I got into a fight over the deal you and I made.”
“Why?” You ask.
“He doesn’t think you can change.” He admits.
Knowing your relationship with Jimin, you really can’t blame him for thinking that way, “I guess to someone like Jimin, that would make the most sense. I’ve never really been easy on him.”
“Yeah, but that’s biased!”
“Are you saying you aren’t biased?” You ask. Taehyung opens his mouth, but words don’t come out. You place a hand on his shoulder, “Jimin has his reasons.”
Taehyung sighs and looks to his lap, “I know, that’s what scares me…”
“Well, you kn-Oh!” You feel something cold at your feet and stand up. The water of the river has risen, slowly coming closer to you, “We should move back. The water is really coming in.” You take a few steps back, but Taehyung stays in his spot, “Taehyung?”
The moon god just lays back and looks to the sky where his planet shines bright, “Most of Jimin’s planet is made up of water. I’ve always loved it’s color and how beautiful it looks from my planet. I guess I’m just attracted to it.”
“It’s normal to be attracted to beautiful things.” You rationalize.
Taehyung tilts his head back to look at you, “Did you know that humans are 70% water?” He asks. You shake your head and he positions his so that he can see his planet again. “I think I have an obsession.”
“No.” You move to sit just above his head in the grass and lean over him ever so slightly, making sure the god can see you, “I think you have feelings.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes, “Is that really any better? Gods aren’t supposed to have feelings.”
His point is exactly what you had said to Hui, but the Universe had made some fair points as well, “Then why do we have them?”
“We?” Taehyung questions.
“You heard me. We all have them, even Hui and Yoongi do! Why would we have feelings if we aren’t supposed to have them?” You ask. Taehyung looks confused. He reaches his hand up and rests it at your cheek, holding it there for a moment before pinching it between his fingers “Ow!”
You slap his hand and he pulls it away, “Sorry, I just had to make sure you aren’t from Planet 181.” You give him a hard glare and he holds his hands in front of his chest, “It’s just weird that you’re being so positive and-...supportive.” You’re not usually a very supportive person. Of course, he’s been able to see a new side of you these past few days, but it’s still so new. It starts to make him think something else is going on.
He sits up and scoots himself back so he can sit next to you, “Did something happen with the council?”
“They-uh…” It’s hard to meet his eyes. You can only think back to what Hui had said about your own feelings in this moment, and you have to remind yourself that this needs to be a professional moment. You decide to tell him the better news. “Hui is leaving the situation in my hands. They’re going to stay out of it from now on.”
“I honestly can’t tell if that’s good news for me or not.” He jokes. You shake your head, but you find it hard to be mad at him. Over the past few days, you’ve really seen a change in him, and you’d be lying if you said you haven’t noticed your own changes. Maybe you can both win at the end of this.
“Maybe it can be good.” He tilts his head in confusion and you sigh, “I will try to help you from here on out.”
Taehyung’s eyes widen in surprise, “Really?! But we still have one more day!”
“And you can still show me whatever you have left. I just-” You look for the right words to say. You don’t want to give him false hope, but there are ways to trick Fate. You just can’t do it alone, “Maybe there is something more I can do.”
“Really?!” You nod, “Oh! Yes! Thank you!” Taehyung tackles you to the ground with a hug, “You’re amazing! I knew I could change your mind!”
“Yeah, yeah.” You awkwardly pat Taehyung on the back, “Just know I’ll do my best. Now, get off of me!”
Taehyung rolls off of you, but he’s not ready to let go. His hand finds yours and he intertwines your fingers with his, “Thank you.”
“For what?”
He squeezes your hand, “Giving me a chance.”
“Fate isn’t very notorious for letting things just magically fall into place,” You admit. You turn your head to look at him and smile, “But second chances can happen.”
“I promise not to let you down.” He says. He looks back to the sky and sighs, “I just hope Eunha and Namjoon get the opportunity to spend time like this.”
“Like this?” You ask, slightly confused.
“Together.”
He says it so innocently, that you’re unsure if he considers your relationship with him to be similar to theirs or if he enjoys the new dynamic the two of you have. He looks so at peace lying next to you, holding your hand and enjoying the view of his planet. His own rays bathe him in a healthy glow and you can feel a flutter in your chest. You can’t help but think of what he means to you.
Maybe you are in love with Taehyung.

Your weekend with Taehyung made you feel special and light, a bit more free than you’ve felt in a millennia. For once, you’ve haven’t worried over strings or worried about their pull. You only worried about yourself and you got to focus on what it’s like to step outside of the box. You got to be you, and now you’re one step closer to knowing how you feel about Taehyung.
But all good things must come to an end.
There’s a moment in time when a dam breaks that everything seems to slow down. It’s like gravity forgets to pull down and everything is left hanging in the air. Your stomach drops and life just seems to drain out of you knowing the inevitable is coming whether you want it to or not. That’s how it feels looking at your hands and following every last string to it’s end.
“Are you going to tell him?” Hoseok asks.
You shake your head, “No.” You want to more than anything, but you can’t let your feelings cloud your judgement. Even if you did, you know Taehyung’s would guide him, and that has never worked well for anyone in the past. “Telling him won’t help him.”
“But he’s going to be really angry with you when he finds out.” Hoseok - the sweet God he is - picked up on your changes a while ago. He figured out your feelings even before Hui did, and seeing your progress be disrupted by this has him on edge.
“I’ll deal with it when I get there.” You assure him. You can’t worry about the future when you really need to focus on the now, “Did you find him?”
He nods, “It took a while, but Yoongi managed.”
You nod in approval, “Good. Don’t be too hard on him.”
“That’s not fun, (Y/n).” He whines.
You wave him off, “Just take Yoongi and do what I tell you.”
“Fine, but you owe me.” He relents. He turns to leave, but he turns back with a sly smirk, “Maybe we should call you the love god.”
“Goodbye, Hoseok!”
He finally leaves, and you’re left with the possibilities ahead of you.
A happy ending isn’t written, it’s hardly even a good ending as far as humans would be concerned. The string knots and breaks every single time. It’s disappointing to say the least, especially after the promise you made to Taehyung. This will crush him just as much as it will crush Eunha to say goodbye, but you can’t let it continue on any longer. At this point, there’s nothing else you can do but wait for gravity to fall.
And fall it did.
Everything was fine. He was over the moon with the relationship he formed with you. Eunha seemed so happy after her break, especially after taking Namjoon with her. He’d hoped they bonded just like the two of you had. It seemed like all the strings were finally converging nicely, but he never thought something like this could happen.
He storms into your office without so much as a warning, “Did you know this would happen?!”
“Well, hello to you too.” You’re taken aback by his entrance, “Don’t worry, I wasn’t busy.”
“Did you know?” He asks again.
He’s angry, and there’s only two possible reasons why he’s behaving like this. But there’s only one way to be sure, “Did I know what?”
“Stop pretending like you don’t know!” He demands, “Eunha told Namjoon she wants to break the necklace.”
“So she chose that future…” You confirm. You look down at your hands, the faint glow of the strings illuminating them. There’s nothing you can do now, especially now that she’s already begun the process, “That’s her decision Taehyung, I don’t control her free will.”
“Can’t you change something?!” He asks.
“You should already know it’s not that simple.”
“How?! Every time you talk to me, you never talk to me!” He complains.
You’re confused, “What do you mean? I always talk to you.”
“No. You talk at me. There’s a difference.” He explains bitterly, “You don’t think I can handle the truth.”
You shrug, “Well, you can’t.”
“Yes, I can.”
“Can you really?”
“Yes!”
“Well, it doesn’t seem like you can because you never seem to get it through your head!” You yell.
Taehyung scoffs, “And whose fault is that?”
“You think it’s mine?!”
“Well, it’s not for lack of communication on my part!”
“Bullshit!” You curse, “I’ve told you multiple, multiple, multiple times exactly what needed to be done and how things would play out and now it’s up to them and you never listen! You think I’m lying and that I’m working against you, but you don’t even understand how my job works!”
“Like looking at your hands is a big deal.”
“It’s a whole lot more than that and you know it!” Every time you think you’re past this argument, he always brings it back around, “I know you want them to be happy, and you want to keep your promise. I get that, but they can’t go on like this anymore. It’s only a matter of time before they break.”
Taehyung feels defeated. You had told him that you might be able to do something, but from where he’s standing you’re not making any effort at all. You’re just letting them both fall victim to their strings, and ignoring his pleas. It’s like you never really cared in the first place.
Of course, you want to do more, but there’s only so much one can do. Controlling Fate isn’t an option, “I really am sorry, Taehyung, but this is out of our hands.”
A scream rings out through the hallways and it catches the both of you off guard. To you, this is the beginning of the end. For Taehyung, this is his last and final chance.
You meet his eyes and you already know what he’s thinking, “There’s nothing you can do for them, Taehyung.”
“Watch me.”
He bolts, knocking a chair over in the process of running out the door. It catches you off guard, but you have far more tricks up your sleeve.
You travel to the main hall, just outside of the cafe, 10 feet in front of Taehyung who insists on running, “Taehyung, please stop and just listen to me for once.”
“I’m not just going to let this opportunity slip away!” He runs around you and you work fast to get in front of him again.
“Kim Taehyung! Don’t make me hold you down, because I will!” You threaten. You hold your hands out in front of you to block him, “You’re not thinking rationally! Stop behaving like a human!”
“Stop acting like a god!” He yells back, “You may be all-knowing, but you really don’t know as much as you think you do! They still have a small chance, and I’m not going to give up and let them slip through my fingers like you do!”
“Then you leave me no choice.”
You place your hands in front of you and pull them apart to reveal the strings that bind them together. You gently pull your pointer finger back, causing the string to tighten. Taehyung trips over it as another scream rings out through the museum.
He tries to get up, but you pull back again, “What are you doing?!” He yells.
“I’m trying to make this as painless as possible for everyone!” You explain, holding him tight in the chaos of your strings.
Another scream rings out and Taehyung struggles to break himself free, “Eunha needs me! Let me go!”
“You’ll just get hurt if I let you go, Taehyung!” You try to explain. You know how this ends, and you know how devastated he’ll be. You can’t do that to him. He’s been through enough, and this needs to end here and now before anyone else gets hurt. “I’m trying to help you!”
“Then stop trying!” He demands, “That’s how you can help me.”
You know he’s hurting, but you can’t pretend you aren’t hurt by his words, “Fine.” You let him go, but you’re not done yet, “But you’ll be too late.”
You make a fist with both hands and tug hard, a cacophony of sounds echoing down the hall. An entire hoard of museum exhibits have been brought to life and freed, and you let them. Taehyung is appalled, “You promised!”
“I promised I would help and do what I can.” You remind him, “This is the best possible outcome.”
You have good intentions, but Taehyung just can’t see it, “Letting them go through with it?! Breaking the spell! Making them say goodbye?!”
“Goodbye’s aren’t forever.” You know firsthand that this isn’t their end. Their paths most likely will never cross again, but that doesn’t mean they never will. Breaking the spell is the best chance they have at saving any connection they have, “Taehyung, you just have to trust me-”
“I’m done trusting you!” He yells, “Jimin was right, I never should have made that stupid deal! It was all for nothing.”
He feels stupid and used, but most importantly, he feels betrayed. You promised him, but it was to play against him. He thought you changed, but you’re the same person you’ve always been. Uncaring, cold, and a god.
You’re Fate.
You try not to take his words to heart, but you can’t help it, “Was it really all for nothing?” Taehyung doesn’t say anything, and you feel the uneasiness in the pit of your stomach. You’re both silent.
And so is the museum.
Taehyung’s heart drops when he realizes that the once noisy hall is now bathed in silence, “No-”
He looks to you for confirmation, and you can’t deny him the truth, “I’m sorry.”
“Eunha!” Taehyung takes off down the hall and disappears into thin air, no doubt to the King’s exhibit. He leaves you standing alone, wondering why doing the right thing has to hurt.

Taehyung never came back down from the 3rd floor exhibit. After Namjoon was officially gone and Eunha was left with the remains of their bond, Taehyung took off to mourn yet another loss. You never saw him leave, and Eunha didn’t say anything on the way out. You can only hope that she doesn’t let this affect her.
You really hope Taehyung will be forgiving.
“He hasn’t come back to the apartment since our fight.” Jimin confirms.
You stare out the window of your office, arms crossed as you scan the street for any sign of the Moon. It’s been 11 days since anyone has seen Taehyung, and you’re really starting to worry about him.
“Did you check his planet?” You ask.
“He’s not there.” You turn to look at him, ready to ask if he checked the whole planet, but Jimin is 2 steps ahead of you, “I checked both sides.”
“Dammit!” You curse. You raise your hand to hold onto the shining necklace he’d bought you on your outing. You haven’t taken it off since he put it on you, and you’ve found yourself holding onto it to ground you when your strings start to pull you. “Please keep me updated.”
“Yeah…” Jimin looks you over. You’re nervous. Which is strange because the only emotion you ever usually show is anger. He’s seen plenty of humans act this way, and you seem to be genuinely worried about Taehyung. “You really care about him, don’t you?”
“Is that a problem?” You ask, glaring at him.
He shrugs, shoving his hands in his pockets, “I didn’t peg you for someone with emotions.”
You sigh, “You’ve never had any reason to.” You sit down in your chair and lean back, “I’m sorry about that, by the way.”
“I don’t think it was all that bad. I got to expand my knowledge of humans, experience their cultures, and their unique qualities.” He explains, “Even the pleasurable ones.”
You close your eyes and choose to ignore that last part, “Well, at least you had something good come from it.”
“Hey-” He gets your attention, “I deserved it. You don’t have to regret it. Just promise me you’ll make this up to Taehyung.”
“I will.” You promise.
Jimin nods in approval and turns to leave. On his way out, he bumps into Yoongi, “Well, hello Yoongi~”
“Hi Jimin.” Life greets, unamused by his presence.
You wait for Jimin to leave before you sit up and get to business, “Have you found him?”
“Which one?”
“Taehyung.”
“No.” Your shoulders fall and Yoongi sighs. He sits down across from you, “Give him some time to process this.”
You shake your head, “This is exactly what I was afraid of.”
“You did the right thing.” He assures you.
“It doesn’t feel like it.”
“Just hold out a little longer.”
“Fine.” You agree. Yoongi has never steered you wrong, so you don’t see why he would now. Holding out a bit more hope won’t hurt you.
“Hoseok and I are almost ready, by the way.” He adds.
“And you’re sure it’ll work?” You ask. Yoongi shrugs, not a very good sign for what you have planned. “Yoongi!”
“There’s a first time for everything!” He argues, “We put our faith in you, now you do the same.”
You really don’t want to chance this blowing up in your face - you know Seowoo would never let you hear the end of it - but this may be the only way to fix everything. You can only hope Yoongi and Hoseok can actually pull it off, “Please don’t make me regret this.”
Yoongi seems to be able to read you mind, “I don’t want to deal with Seowoo just as much as you don’t want to.”
A knock comes from the door, “Excuse me?” Both you and Yoongi turn to see Seokjin standing in your doorway. He seems very apologetic as he looks between the both of you, “Sorry to interrupt, but I was told to come and see you.”
“No problem at all! We’re just finishing up.” You assure the human.
Yoongi stands and brushes off his pants, “I’ll let you know what happens later.” He says goodbye to Seokjin and the greeter bows as he leaves.
“Have a seat, Seokjin.” You offer, pointing to the chair in front of you. He accepts your offer and you pull open your desk drawer to grab the file you made specifically for him, “I just wanted to start off by saying thank you so much for continuing to be such a hard worker. Every time I see you, you’re engaging our patrons with a smile on your face, and I have received numerous compliments from others about what a wonderful greeter I have at my front door.”
He smiles, “Thank you, ma’am. I really try my best to make our guests happy and feel welcome.”
He’s so humble, and that’s one of the things you like the most about him, “I know, and that’s why I wanted to offer a promotion to you.”
“A promotion?”
“You’ve worked well with us for a few years now, I think a promotion is appropriate. You’re very familiar with Ms. Kang, yes?” You ask, knowing very well that he knows his supervisor.
“Of course! She’s a wonderful supervisor.”
“Well, she wants to retire, and I want you to fill her role.” You explain, “You’re still more than welcome to maintain your position as a greeter with your promotion, but entrance maintenance and customer satisfaction will be left to you.”
“Oh wow...I don’t know what to say.” He admits, taking in the new information.
You nod in understanding, “I don’t need an answer now. Her retirement is a few months away, but I want to put it on the table.”
“Yes! Of course! Thank you!” He struggles to find the right words to express his gratitude, “I would love to take over when she steps down!”
“I’m glad to hear that.” You hand him the file you made, all of the information he’ll be needing tucked away inside, “You’ll be working closely with our curators and our security, so I would start to build those relationships if you haven’t already. But I’m sure you already have.”
He nods, “Yes, ma’am. I’m good friends with a lot of the museum staff.”
“If you need someone to help you, check with Kim Taehyung. He’s very much a people person.” You suggest.
“I will!” He agrees, “I know he’s not here today, but I’ll ask him when he’s done at the river.”
“The river?” You ask.
“He called in again today. He said he hasn’t been feeling himself.” Seokjin explains, “I sent him a text just to check in and he said he just needed some time to think in his favorite spot. His favorite spot is by the river.”
“Yes. I see.” You hum. As much as you’d like to continue your conversation with him, you want - more than anything - to go find Taehyung and talk to him. You fake checking your watch and smile, “I look forward to seeing how you grow, Seokjin, but I’m afraid I need to be on my way to a meeting with a few sponsors.”
“Of course!” He stands and so do you, extending a hand to congratulate him. “Thank you again for this opportunity.”
You nod, “Anything I can do.”
He leaves and you quickly pack your things, walking out of the building to keep up appearances. You make it around the corner to a section of sidewalk completely unlit by streetlights before you travel to the river in search of the moon god. The last time he was here, he’d caused havoc and quite literally trashed whatever was in his path. Your hope is that you’ll find him exactly where you had last time.
You don’t see him in the grass when you first pass by, but taking a second look, you do find him with the water up to his chest and his legs floating in front of him. His eyes are closed and he looks to have blocked out everything around him. He just lays in the quiet, in the water, under the stars.
“Taehyung…” You approach him slowly, coming to the edge of the water, and hesitantly taking a seat. You bring your knees to your chest and wrap your arms around them, “If you’re not careful, then you’ll drift away.”
He sighs, “I’d rather drift away than feel nothing anymore.”
You don’t know what to say to that. He’s in mourning, and you understand that this all must be hard for him. Especially dealing with a loss for a second time. You want to comfort him, but comfort isn’t something you really know how to do.
Of course, Taehyung knows you don’t know what comfort is. That’s all he’s been able to think about since that night at the museum. You tried so hard to keep him away from what was happening to protect him, and he refused to listen. You weren’t lying when you said you were doing what was best for him.
You weren’t lying about a lot of things.
“Why am I cursed to be the moon? Why must I be so lonely and powerless compared to others?” He asks aloud. You don’t have an answer, and he doesn’t expect one, “Dwarf planets aren’t required to stay with their planets, they don’t require attention. So, why do I have to stay with mine when I have nothing to offer?”
“I don’t know...”
“I’m just the Moon. There’s nothing special about me. I’m just a hopeless romantic ruining the lives of others for my own personal enjoyment.” He’s defeated. He tried so hard. He did everything he possibly could and it still wasn’t enough. “I’m the exact thing I told you I wasn’t.”
Of course, you’ve known how this would inevitably end from the beginning. Whether you were on his side from the start or not, you knew that trying to bring Eunha and Namjoon would end in goodbye for everyone. Of course, there were multiple bad and good outcomes, but this was luckily one of the better ones.
Is he a hopeless romantic? The biggest one you’ve ever seen.
But was he wrong? You’re not entirely sure. However, if there’s one thing you know for sure, it’s that Taehyung deserves to know the truth.
He deserves to know everything.
“That first time you tried to bring them together-” He turns his head to look at you, “Namjoon still would have died from sickness. It wouldn’t have gone away.” You’d hoped that maybe for once, you wouldn’t be right. If you were lucky, then his necklace would work and he’d feel proud and he’d go home. But you couldn’t let it work just for Namjoon to die. “That’s why I sent the guards in.”
“Why didn’t you tell me then?”
“I thought that if I told you then, that you would’ve tried again.” You say. Thinking about it makes you laugh considering where you are now, “I guess you would’ve tried anyways.”
He sits up in the water and scoots back, “Yeah...I probably would have.”
“Do you remember when Namjoon died and I came to present you to the counsel?” You ask. He nods, “You told me that maybe if I had an ounce of compassion that people would like me better?”
“Yeah...” He had said that to you. It was out of anger and sorrow, and he never did get the chance to apologize for it.
“I think I’d like myself better too.” You admit, “When I was younger and more naive, I always thought I could pull my strings how I pleased. I thought I could do whatever I wanted, and that ended with ruined lives and the deaths of thousands.”
“You? Ruining lives and causing death?” He asks, almost in disbelief.
You nod, “Hui had to stop me before it got too bad, and he introduced me to Hoseok and Yoongi. He had us learn together how to keep balance, and he told me that I couldn’t allow myself to get caught up with one measly human or I’d never treat any of them fairly.” He was right in a way, but he himself has grown more too. “That’s why I’ve been so terrible.”
Taehyung shakes his head, “You’ve been doing your job.”
You scoff, “Some job I have.”
“No one ever said it was easy to do what you do.” He says. You’re shocked to say the least, he’s the last person you would have expected to back you up. But he’s had time to think everything over. “I shouldn’t have said it was. I’m sorry it took me so long.”
“We all have to learn. It’d be easier if it stuck quicker for some.” You tease, earning a laugh from the Moon. He didn’t pick up on the severity of the situation quite as quickly, but maybe he would have if you had been more honest with him. “Actually, you’re familiar with Seokjin, right?”
“Of course! He’s a good friend.”
“He’s one of the first and last strings I ever knotted.”
“Wait, really?” You nod, “Is that why he can never keep a date?”
“It was very early on, humanity had just been created and I was figuring everything out. At the time, I was much more compassionate towards humans.” You explain. You were very much like Taehyung when you first started, but you didn’t stay like that for long. “He liked this girl, and I thought if I just pulled a few strings then they would come together and live happy for the rest of their lives, but-”
He gasps, “Their strings knotted.”
“I tried to fix it. I thought I could tie them back together, but I couldn’t.” You still remember watching Seokjin say goodbye to his destined lover. He was devastated and it was all your fault. He hasn’t run into them since, and you don’t know that he ever will. “I ruined their lives because I couldn’t do my job.”
“You did what you thought was right.” Taehyung assures you, placing a hand on your shoulder to comfort you.
You smile, “So did you.” You lean against his side and rest your head on his shoulder.
Taehyung rests his head on top of yours and sighs, “What are we going to do about Eunha?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing?” He asks, surprised, “But she knows.”
“She won’t tell. She’s too busy mourning to worry herself over us.” You seriously doubt she’ll risk telling everyone about the two of you. But still, everything she’s going through right now can’t be easy. “I guess it really isn’t easy to be in love.”
“Love?”

Chapter 3 let’s go!
Three chilly October days after Ron’s abrupt departure from London - which Juliet was still seething about - she arrived home from the store to a different person she expected to never hear from again. Lottie stood at the front door, muttering to herself about whether or not to knock. Juliet was especially surprised because it was raining, which would have normally kept the editor indoors if she could help it. Juliet watched a moment, not wanting to give away her presence immediately. It satisfied her to watch Lottie fret like this. After a few moments, Juliet caved and cleared her throat.
Lottie gasped as she whipped around, clutching at her chest. “Heaven's sake, Juliet! How long have you been standing there?”
“Not long,” Juliet said, intentionally vague. “Can I help you, Lottie?”
“Well…” Lottie hesitated, shifting her weight and toying with the fingertips of her gloves. “Shall we go in? I really need to speak to you.”
Juliet decided not to comment on Lottie’s self-invite into the house. She figured with no other job openings popping up, this could be her opportunity to try and gain back some favor at the London Pursuit. She couldn’t imagine that Lottie was here for a personal reason. That was not the sort of manager she was.
Once inside, Lottie followed Juliet to the kitchen - again, kindly not saying anything about the state of the house. Juliet set her grocery bags on the table before taking her coat off. Lottie shrugged hers off as well, removed her hat and gloves, and took a seat.
“Cuppa?” Juliet offered.
“Sure,” Lottie replied.
Juliet put the kettle on. Then she started unloading the bags.
“So, what did you want to speak to me about?” she asked, trying to sound as casual as she could.
“It’s the Albourne story,” Lottie said, voice tight, almost like she was spitting the words out. “All the other reporters are too busy to cover it. And if I have to go through the process of hiring someone new, we won’t get it in time.”
“I’ve already told you, I think it’s -”
“You needn’t remind me of your insolent remarks,” she snapped.
Juliet sighed, picked up a can of beans and placed it slowly in the cupboard, forming as polite a response as she could muster. But Lottie beat her to the next word.
“If you agree to cover this story, I’ll let you cover the war down there,” she said.
Juliet almost slammed the cupboard door shut in surprise. “What?”
“You can cover the war news from there,” Lottie repeated.
“Do you know something the rest of us don’t?” Juliet returned. “Because if you know the Germans are in Aldbourne and you haven’t said anything until now, you might be in trouble, Lottie.”
Lottie rolled her eyes. “You know what I mean, Juliet. The Americans are there, you could write about them.”
Juliet bit back the snappy retort she had about that, and dialed it down. “Fascinating as the Yanks are, I reckon they’re not doing much actual fighting in Aldbourne. Unless you mean brawling in pubs.”
The English had almost adjusted to the American presence by now. However, Juliet had slipped out of more than one pub after a fight broke out between some bright-eyed, blue-blooded American who spoke too boldly about their importance in the war effort and an Englishman who naturally took offense to the effort of “our own lads” being minimized. It escalated. Drinks were thrown, followed shortly by fists. Others jumped in to either assist or attempt to separate the combatting parties, only to get swept up in the action either way. It was entertaining, sure, but Juliet thought it made rather a mockery of the term “Allies.”
“They’re doing something there,” Lottie insisted. “And I give you full permission to try and find out what. As long as you cover the story about the girl as well.”
“Observing Americans isn’t really covering the war, and you know it, Lottie,” Juliet said.
“I’m not sending a woman to the front line, there would be a mob at the office door,” Lottie said. “I personally don’t care if you want to go and get yourself shot, but your blood cannot be on my hands.”
Juliet had to concede that point. Other papers had already suffered the ramifications of sending women reporters even within the vicinity of the front. There were boycotts led by counter-feminist groups and concerned mothers about the message it sent about women’s roles. It was one thing for women to work while men fought the war, but to put them in the line of fire? That was just indecent.
“Well, good to know my life isn’t as much of your concern as public opinion,” Juliet joked.
Lottie frowned. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Relax, Lottie, I’m taking the piss,” Juliet returned with a wave of her hand.
She paused, mulling over the offer Lottie was bringing. She wasn’t in much of a position to refuse work, but the idea of covering that gruesome story was almost too much to bear. Even if she was a bit interested in what the Americans were doing. Then, something else crossed her mind.
“Why do you want this covered so badly?” she asked.
Lottie’s face flushed and her mouth drew tight, which Juliet understood to mean the reason would not be to her liking. She braced herself.
“A family friend is with the Wiltshire police,” Lottie admitted. “He thinks it would look good for the department to solve a case like this and put the murderer away. And to have the press cover it, especially a London paper with circulation throughout the country.”
Juliet couldn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes. “You’re killing me, Lottie.”
“This is the deal I’m offering,” Lottie sighed. “I know you’re opposed to it, but this is the compromise I’m willing to make.”
Juliet considered her options. She did need the money. But the subject matter and the reasoning were so against her ideals and ethics as a journalist. How could she live with herself if she broke them for money? But there was her mother to consider as well. Which brought up another objection.
“Even if I wanted to,” she said. “I can’t. It leaves no one here to look after Mum.”
“I thought you had a brother,” Lottie returned.
“He lives on Guernsey,” Juliet reminded her, minding her tone so she wouldn’t sound too bitter. “Otherwise, I’m certain he’d be here.”
Lottie shifted uncomfortably. “I apologize. I forgot.”
“S’fine,” Juliet replied.
“Can’t you hire someone to look after your mother?” Lottie asked.
Juliet only raised a disbelieving eyebrow at her - as if to say, “you’ve seen the house, you think we can afford help?” Lottie understood the implication.
“What if…” Lottie trailed off, considering. “What if I hired someone to look after her?”
Juliet blinked. “That’s...generous of you, Lottie, but I’d never be able to pay you back or -”
“Don’t worry about that,” Lottie said. “I want this story and - believe it or not - I want it done well. I know you’ll handle it as tastefully as possible and you could really show that -”
She was cut off by the kettle screeching its completion to boil, so Juliet went to take it off the burner and fetch some tea cups. She poured the tea and served it, and Lottie thanked her quietly, almost abashed by her admission to decency. But there was something more.
“Really show what?” Juliet pressed.
Lottie heaved a defeated sigh. Like admitting this was something that exasperated her. “That women can handle tough topics. It’s not covering the war, but it’s a step in that direction.”
Juliet couldn’t help but agree. If women could handle murder and the investigation surrounding it, surely women could be seen as sensible enough to tackle tragedy on a larger scale. They weren’t going to faint at the sight of blood or burst into tears over sentimentality. She couldn’t help herself. Juliet wanted to be part of that narrative.
“Lottie, I’m surprised at you,” she teased. “I didn’t take you for such a feminist.”
Lottie’s jaw dropped and she gaped at Juliet, totally affronted at the suggestion. “I am no such thing!”
Juliet shrugged, unfazed. “Yeah, I probably wouldn’t be either if I had your tits.”
Lottie could only sputter in response and Juliet snickered before sipping her tea.
“Juliet!” Lottie scolded.
“I’ll do it,” Juliet said suddenly.
Lottie closed her mouth, stunned. “You’ll - you’ll do the story?”
“Yes,” Juliet assured her, smiling. “You’ve given me a real reason to. And if there’s someone here to look after Mum and I can get a bit of war news as well, then what choice do I have but to say yes? You drive a hard bargain, Lottie.”
Lottie’s relief was palpable. “Thank you, Juliet. Really.”
“When do I go?” Juliet asked.
“There’s a train to Aldbourne tomorrow morning at nine,” Lottie said.
“I’ll be on it.”
***
Aldbourne was probably a village that once called itself sleepy. But now it was overrun by Americans - mostly paratroopers - which created an upheaval the likes of which many residents had never seen before. There was life in the town. The Women’s Land Army, or “land girls” as they were called, were taking full advantage of the flirting opportunities that arose with these American men, who lacked British decorum and were therefore prime targets for a fling. As Juliet walked from the station to her lodgings, with all the people mulling through the heart of the village, she found it almost hard to believe she was there to report on a murder.
Lodgings were difficult to come by with the Americans billeted in just about any space they could fit. Even horses were having to share their stables. But Lottie pulled some strings and got Juliet a room above the Blue Boar, a pub. She wasn’t sure how much sleep she’d really be able to get with the noise of a pub below her, but she didn’t dare complain. Not when she was one step closer to getting what she wanted.
The owner was a portly, older gentleman by the name of Jacob Powell. His kind, round face welcomed Juliet warmly, and she was grateful for the reception. She didn’t want to infringe too much on his hospitality, so she refused a cup of tea for the moment, insisting she needed to get unpacked and to the police station as soon as possible.
“Oh, yeah, that's a gruesome business about the little girl,” Jacob said. “Are you really going to write a story about it?”
“I’m no Agatha Christie or anything, but I’m going to do my best,” she returned, keeping her tone light. She wasn’t in the habit of discussing a story with just anyone.
He shook his head. “It’s just a right shame.”
“Concisely put, Mr. Powell,” she replied. “If you’ll excuse me.”
“Right, sorry,” he said bashfully, and he reminded her that the offer for tea still stood if she changed her mind before closing the door behind him.
First, Juliet set down her suitcase with her clothes. Second, she heaved her typewriter onto the desk in the corner of the room. It was beside the one window that looked out onto the street. Juliet approved of the set up since she liked natural light while she wrote. She got her things exactly where she wanted them, but hadn’t bothered to remove her hat and coat since she was going right back out. Securing her notebook, pen, and room key, she left.
The police station was one of the dullest she’d ever seen. Given the nature of the town, it didn’t surprise her. Lottie’s contact was Otis Allen, a lieutenant in the Wiltshire Police, who was still in Aldbourne to lead the investigation. He was a tall, thin man, with kind blue eyes and straw-like blonde hair. Rather unimposing for being in law enforcement. But Juliet observed right away the misshapen mound where his right ear should have been. He mentioned it before she had the opportunity to ask.
“Sorry about the grisly ear,” he said. “My gift from the Germans last time they had a go at us.”
“A bit rude,” she teased. “Flowers would have suited just fine, I think.”
He chuckled at that as he gestured for her to take a seat across from him at his desk. With that, she noticed a gnarled hand - the few fingers he had left were permanently curled under themselves. He disguised it fairly well with a glove, but she saw anyway.
“Those Jerries really overdid it on the gifts,” she remarked. “I bet it wasn’t even your birthday.”
He fully laughed at that and she noticed his expression softened. When they’d met, he’d been a bit rigid, but his muscles relaxed now, put at ease by her gentle humor.
“Thanks for that,” he said.
She cocked her head to the side. “For what?”
“For the jokes,” he answered. “Ever since that war, all I get are pitying looks or fear. Thanks for treating it like it’s...normal.”
“I’ll leave pity to the nurses,” she said with a smile. “Now, what have you got so far on the case?”
He went over the basics with her. In September, a six-year-old girl, Peggy Lee, was drowned in the tub, allegedly by her host, Meredith Fisher. Peggy had been with the Fisher’s since January with no reported issues. When Peggy did not arrive for school the next day, her teacher phoned the Fisher’s home with no answer. They chalked it up to Peggy being ill or some other explainable matter, and moved on. When she was absent the following day as well, they called again, and Meredith told them that yes, Peggy was ill, and could not come to school for a few days. Ashley Fisher, Meredith’s husband, was in London on business at the time, and when he returned at the end of the week, found Peggy’s body and called the police. Meredith claimed initially there was an accident, but evidence from Peggy’s autopsy proved foul play was involved. Juliet took fervent notes as Otis explained it all, trying not to get disgusted by the whole thing.
“Where is Mrs. Fisher being held now?” Juliet asked. “Surely not here in Aldbourne.”
“‘Course not, she’s in Trowbridge,” Otis assured her. “Mr. Fisher is here though, if you’d like to speak to him.”
She blinked. “Is he an expert on the case or something?”
“Well, no -”
“Then what insight could he possibly give me?”
“He’s a witness,” he reminded her.
“Investigators and lawyers question witnesses,” she said. “I need facts from experts to put the story into context. His testimony would only sway readers' emotions, and that’s not what I’m after.”
He smiled. “Well. You’re not like any reporter I’ve ever met.”
“I should hope not,” she returned. “I’m not covering this for the sensation. Why do you think I haven’t asked you where the Lee family is?”
His eyebrows went up a ways on his forehead. “You’re not going to interview them at all?”
She shook her head. “Nope. An interview with them is even less useful than an interview with Mr. Fisher. They weren’t even witnesses.”
His eyes sparkled as he looked at her. “Right. Emotional appeal instead of factual.”
“Exactly,” she said. “And besides, I’m sure the last thing they need right now is some reporter sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong.”
“I like you, Miss Fletcher,” he said simply. “You’ve got...surprising respect for this. And a good head on your shoulders.”
Juliet forced a smile to swallow her question if he’d be surprised by her if she were a man. She didn’t know where her control came from during interviews, but she was grateful for it.
“Thank you, Lieutenant,” she said. “Lottie told me the goal was to get this story widely circulated, and I truly believe that’s possible with the facts alone. I don’t believe in patronizing the audience to get their attention.”
“You’ve got more faith in people than I do,” he scoffed. “But I like your style. I look forward to working with you.”
“The feeling is mutual,” she returned. She did like Otis, even if he had briefly underestimated her. “Tomorrow I’ll be able to meet with the doctor who conducted the autopsy, yes?”
“Yes,” he confirmed. “The prosecution is having a psychiatrist evaluate Mrs. Fisher this week, so I’ll keep you updated on that as well.”
“I’d love an interview with the prosecutor too, if that’s possible,” she said.
“I’ll speak to him about it,” he told her. “Have a good evening, Miss Fletcher.”
“Thank you, Lieutenant.”
They shook hands before she parted. She made her way back to the Blue Boar, dodging GIs all along the way. They were winding down for the day, it seemed, going for runs, dates, or drinks, depending on their mood. She got a whistle or two, which she ignored, mentally going over her notes. She was also relieved she wasn’t going to have to fight Otis on how to do the story. She really was getting free reign on how to put this all together, and she was excited by the opportunities that meant for her.
Her excitement was sucked away when she reached the Blue Boar and found her things had been hurled onto the street. Her mouth fell open. She had only just arrived, what on earth could she have done?
She marched toward the door, straightening up to her full height, prepared to demand an answer from Jacob. But she didn’t have to go far, he met her at the doorway, blocking her entrance with a glower on his face that could have melted snow.
“What’s the meaning of this?!” she demanded.
“I don’t want any of your sort staying in my establishment!” he shot back. “Did you think you could fool me?! I read the papers!”
“What the bloody hell are you talking about?” she returned. “What papers?!”
He pulled a rolled up newspaper out of his back pocket and threw it at her. She caught it and opened it with a snap. She recognized it as a society gossip periodical that she usually tried to avoid. On the side of the page, she read the headline “ARTHUR BURNS’ EX-FIANCE TURNS LADY OF THE EVENING?” with a photo of her leaving the hotel she’d met Ron in, looking furious as she absolutely was that day. Her heart dropped as she read the copy beneath.
Desperate times must truly call for desperate measures, it began. Juliet Fletcher, 31, who just earlier this year was scorned by Arthur Burns when he terminated their engagement, was spotted leaving a hotel after a rendezvous with a mysterious American. The receptionist, who wished to remain anonymous, said Fletcher returned the following day, found the Yank gone, and stormed out, seething.
‘It was clearly a dispute over money,’ the receptionist said. ‘They left the hotel together early in the morning, and she came back in the evening after he’d checked out. She was so sneaky about what she needed, I knew it couldn’t be anything respectable. And then to be as furious as she was about his leaving, it was obviously about an unpaid sum.’
Could it be that Miss Fletcher has fallen into disgrace after Mr. Burns left her? Could it be that she needed additional income after becoming accustomed to the Burns lifestyle? What else could possibly drive her to stoop to such lows?
The Burns family refused to comment for this story, and Miss Fletcher herself appears to be out of town at the moment. And who can blame her?
“Oh, this is ridiculous!” she cried. “It isn’t true!”
“Pictures don’t lie, missy,” Jacob practically spat. “Now clear off from my property or I’ll have the police on you!”
A small crowd had gathered to watch the confrontation unfold. Doubtless, the raised voices had drawn attention to them, but Juliet could not bring herself to care. The injustice of it made her blood boil. She squared her shoulders and planted her feet.
“It’s not true, you idiot!” she shouted. “This paper is known for misrepresenting the people they write about!”
“I said - CLEAR OFF, YOU!” he roared.
She scowled at him as fiercely as she could manage, but he slammed the door in her face. Head held high, she went and snatched her things off the ground, slinging them onto her shoulders before facing him again.
“THIS ISN’T OVER!” she hollered back. When she turned on her heel and saw the Aldbourne residents watching with avid interest, she snapped at them too. “Should we have sold tickets?! Mind your business, people!”
Properly scolded, they scattered like roaches. Juliet heaved a sigh, wondering where to point her feet. Fuming, she considered parking herself outside the door and shouting until Jacob had no choice but to hear her out, but she couldn’t risk arrest. Not when she was relying on the police as sources for her story.
Her thoughts were completely interrupted when a platoon of paratroopers jogged across the square from where she stood. Leading them was the man Juliet held solely responsible for all her troubles as of late - Ron Speirs. She told herself not to get distracted by the sweat on his brow or the way his backside looked in the little shorts he had on, and focus on what mattered. He was getting away with what had happened - or rather not happened - while she was publicly shamed. Abandoning her bags, she hurtled after the platoon, catching up with surprising speed in her heels.
“HEY!” she bellowed.
The whole platoon stuttered in their cadence, and the few in the back turned their heads at the sound of her voice. Ron either didn’t hear her, or ignored her, and she wasn’t sure which was more infuriating. She gained on them. Taking a deep breath, she prepared to get louder, absolutely refusing to be ignored.
“RONALD SPEIRS!” she yelled.
He called his men to a halt, stopping alongside them and turning to face her. He blinked in surprise at the sight of her - he had evidently not expected her here - but he didn’t say anything right away. She caught her breath as she marched up to him. This time, she was ready, wallet in her coat pocket. She whipped it out and brandished it like a sword.
“No one pays me a kindness and gets away with it!” she shouted, popping the wallet open and fishing out the bills she owed him. “That,” she slapped the first few onto his chest, and he caught them before they fluttered to the ground. “Is for my half of the hotel room!” She did not acknowledge the snickers that went through the platoon, and then forced a second handful of money into his hand. “And that is for the potatoes and cab fare!”
He looked levelly at her. “I really didn’t expect to be -”
“I don’t care what you expected!” she continued. “You left me to look like a prize idiot!”
He glanced at his platoon, who were murmuring to each other as speculation began about how their lieutenant knew this strange woman.
“I’d rather have this conversation in private if it’s all the same to you,” he said.
“It’s not all the same to me, you punk!” She accentuated this with a shove to his arm. He didn’t move, but it made her feel better. “You humiliated me in front of the stupid hotel girl, which has now resulted in me losing my lodgings, so yeah, I’m going to stand here and embarrass you in front of your little mates!”
“Juliet -”
“How dare you leave before I could pay you back!” she went on fiercely. “You said you’d be there! You lied right to my face! Like a - a - a liar!”
“Eloquently said,” he returned.
“I don’t need your wise-ass remarks!”
“Settle down.”
“I WILL NOT SETTLE DOWN!”
Her face was red with how much yelling she’d been doing, so she took a deep breath to collect herself. She felt a tingle in her throat, so she tried to clear it.
“I’m going to, though,” she said. “Not because you told me to, but because my voice is getting hoarse.”
He stared at her for a beat. “Okay. Why don’t you start from the beginning?”
“The receptionist at the hotel in London spoke to a gossip columnist about seeing us together,” she said. “Now, the owner of the Blue Boar says he won’t have one of ‘my sort’ in his rooms.”
“I see,” he said with a nod. “I’ll sort it out.”
“No, I can’t owe you another favor,” she returned.
“So you just came over here to yell at me?” he asked, to clarify.
“And pay you back!” she insisted. “Now that’s been accomplished, we can part ways and I’ll never speak to you again. Starting now.”
“Juliet -”
“Starting now!”
With that, she turned on her heel and stormed away. He watched her go for a moment, enjoying the way her skirt swished around her legs, the shape of which he enjoyed more than he cared to admit. Shaking his head to clear it, he faced his men again. He noticed the stifled laughter behind their hands and smirks on their faces.
“Something funny?” he snapped with a scowl.
They straightened up and muttered quick “no, sir”s under his glare.
“Good, we’ve got a run to finish,” he said.
They continued down the road. But Ron knew just what he was going to do afterward.
***
Night fell over Aldbourne like a frigid shadow. Juliet, with aching feet and chattering teeth, took shelter in a phone booth across from the Blue Boar, having scoured the village for anywhere else to stay to no avail. And she was not a moment too soon in closing the booth door. Just seconds after she did, a soft rain began to patter against it.
She needed to call Lottie and see what her options were. She couldn’t stay in Aldbourne without a room, but that put everything on hold. She pushed the coins into the slot and called Lottie at home, adding guilt to her weariness.
“Hello?” came Lottie’s voice after just two rings, which relieved Juliet a little since it meant she was not in bed already.
“Lottie, it’s Juliet,” Juliet said. “Look, something’s happened and your friend Jacob’s given me the boot.”
“What?” Lottie questioned. “Why?”
“Some stupid fucking article accusing me of being a prostitute,” Juliet snapped.
“There’s no need for that kind of language,” Lottie replied coolly.
Juliet hesitated a beat. “Okay, given the nature of what I said, I’m not sure if you’re referring to ‘fuck’ or ‘prostitute.’”
“Both,” Lottie said, and before Juliet could protest, she went on. “Tell me what you’re talking about.”
Juliet explained everything - that her arrival went fine, but at some point during her interview with Otis, Jacob had read that article about the hotel nonsense, and had refused to let her back inside.
“Now I’m stuck in a phone booth,” she finished.
A beat passed and Juliet feared for a fleeting second that her time had run out. She dug in her pocket for more coins, but Lottie spoke again.
“So...what were you doing in a hotel room with an American?” she asked.
“That’s your takeaway from everything I just said?!” Juliet cried, incredulous. “Lottie, I’m exhausted and freezing, I need a place to stay or a ticket home!”
“Was it something indecent?” Lottie pressed.
“No!” Juliet returned. “Look, I got drunk, I almost got hurt, and he just looked after me for the night, but nothing happened, I swear. Believe me, he’s the last man on Earth I’d ever want to shag, even if he is ridiculously good loo-”
She stopped suddenly and whipped around when she heard a knock on the door. There he stood. Ronald Speirs, looking expectantly at her.
“Son of a BITCH!” she swore, stamping her foot.
“I beg your pardon!” Lottie gasped.
“Must go, Lottie, my mystery American has returned,” Juliet said through clenched teeth. “Aldbourne’s about to have another murder on its hands.”
She hung up harshly, slamming the phone down before Lottie could protest. Then she wrenched the door and faced him, eyes blazing. She opened her mouth, preparing to dismiss him completely, but he beat her to the punch.
“Jacob changed his mind,” he said. “You can have your room back.”
She deflated and blinked at him in surprise. “I said I didn’t want -”
“Do you want a bed for the night or not?” he cut across her.
Her drained muscles screamed at her to agree, but her pride was stronger. She started to refuse him again.
“Buy me a drink, and we’ll call it even,” he said, as if reading her mind.
“That’s not really the same,” she argued.
“I didn’t go out of my way,” he told her. “The Blue Boar is where the officers drink. It came up, I explained, simple as that.”
“Okay, one drink.” She held his gaze. “And then we’ll never speak again.”
He looked into her eyes, so long and so intensely, in any other context she would have thought he might kiss her. But he didn’t. In fact, he didn’t do anything. He just shrugged, turned, and walked back toward the pub. She didn’t totally blame him since the rain was beginning to come down harder. With a defeated sigh, she scrambled to collect her things and followed him.

I loved your recent post about Marty and his ADHD! It was soo spot on. And, I saw in the tags that you mentioned Alex Keaton and how you believe he’s not neurotypical either. Care to elaborate? Do you have any headcanons about neurodivergent™ Alex? I’d love to hear your thoughts! :)
Oh, hey, thank you! Marty having ADHD seems to be one of the most common headcanons in the fandom, so that post was a lot of fun to work on.
As far as Alex goes...yes, I will elaborate, BUT I'm putting it under a cut because ya girl is really going to E L A B O R A T E.
I've mentioned before that I think Alex's overall personality/demeanor comes from a variety of different places. Some parts of who he is are likely caused by all the pressure put on him to be a high achiever, due to being so academically gifted from a young age. Other parts are due to being overly coddled and spoiled by Elyse and Steven. Still, there's probably a part of Alex that genuinely enjoys being difficult and getting a rise out of people. Then, there's the obvious anxiety he struggles with, which even MJF has talked about in some interviews when discussing how he approached playing a guy like Alex.
"Giftedness" & anxiety are already included under the umbrella of neurodiversity but in Alex's case, I actually think there's even more to it than that. Yeah, Alex is a funny character whose actions/words are so often played for laughs. He can also be a really irksome character when he's dishing out the sarcasm and being selfish. But I also can't help but look at Alex and think, This guy is just so not NT and he is struggling, somebody Help Him. And since Alex P. Keaton is one of my favorite characters AND I love to analyze/ do deep dives AND the topic of neurodiversity is a particularly strong interest of mine... well, here you go....
Mans is autistic.
• Difficulty with social cues and "reading the room". Seriously, there are so many instances of everyone around him all being on the same page about something or dealing with something serious, and Alex walks in and just proceeds to miss every single cue people throw his way. Two scenes that pop into my head, in particular, are the Reflective Pajamas one and the Clam Puff one, lol.
• He frequently struggles with putting himself in other people's shoes: Alex is certainly shown to be a compassionate person. He can recognize when people are hurting and will do the right thing, but sometimes he needs some help to get there. It seems that a lot of the time, all he knows is how he feels or thinks about something, and it doesn't occur to him that another person could be experiencing it differently. Then, once Steven, Elyse, Ellen, etc, break the situation down for him and explicitly say things like, Hey, that person's feelings are hurt because... or Here is the exact reason this person is angry... Alex is finally able to connect the dots, which usually leads to him being like, I hadn't ever thought about that/ I didn't mean it. (Of course, there are also times where Alex is just purposely being a jerk, but I'm not focusing on those)
• Specific, intense interests: Politics & economics, obviously. It's made well-known that Alex has been completely fixated on these two areas since he was a toddler. He's prone to enthusiastic, overly detailed discourse on the topics and either doesn't care or can't pick up on when people are growing bored at listening to him.
• Also, can we talk about how it's established that Alex's favorite toy as a little kid was a box? Like, he carried it everywhere, played with it, slept with it, and was devastated when it fell apart. Idk, I know kids can be attached to random objects, but it's just interesting that Alex is noted as having been enamored with a box. I'm just picturing little Alex, ignoring all the toys he has in favor of just sitting and staring at a box, and his parents are like, Yeah, this is normal.
• Highly intelligent, bordering on genius/prodigy (He was doing long-division at like, 3 years old) but has difficulty connecting with peers & making friends: This is most prominently shown in "A, My Name is Alex," where we see glimpses of various events in his childhood. In the scene where Alex meets Greg, we learn that Alex spends recess inside, helping the teacher plan her lessons rather than going out to socialize with his classmates. He's bewildered at Greg's invitation to come play, meaning he likely spent the majority of his childhood on his own due to being considered an outcast by his peers and just generally relating more easily to adults. (He also mentions taking night classes at a local college at age SEVEN. So like. If the long-division story and night class thing are taken to be actual facts of Alex's childhood...we're looking at something similar to hyperlexia/hypernumeracy here. This kid must have been bored out his mind having to sit through elementary school if he was that advanced)
• Very literal at times/ misses sarcasm: Interestingly enough, APK is very fond of being sarcastic but doesn't do so well when he's on the receiving end of it. Someone will make a joke or spin the sarcasm towards him for once, and he'll either just stare blankly like ???? or smile/thank them and they're like, Yeah, that wasn't a compliment, or, I was kidding.
• Black and white/ inflexible thinking: This might be the biggest one. Alex is super concerned with rules and ensuring that everyone is following them correctly. There's right and there's wrong, with no gray areas or middle ground as far as he's concerned. My favorite instance of this is in the episode where the family goes to visit Steven's mother and Rob, Alex's uncle, is telling a story of how Steven got in trouble as a kid for refusing to put his name in the upper right corner of his test papers. Everyone around the table laughs...except for Alex, who is deeply troubled by the information.
Just...Steven's delivery. The way he pauses and stares at Alex before replying with a ridiculous punishment that obviously didn't happen, but Alex shows no signs of being aware of or amused at the joke and is just glad his father faced the consequences of his actions. It's great, and a prime example of Alex's preoccupation with "the rules."
Another good example (& one that crosses into the empathy category as well) is "Big Brother is Watching", where Alex exposes a cheating scandal at school (that involves Mallory) and then can't wrap his mind around why everyone is angry at him when he gets the students who were involved suspended. He spends half the episode saying things like, But cheating is wrong. It's wrong and I told the truth about it. I did what's right. You (Steven) told me to always tell the truth, which I did. WHY PEOPLE ANGRY???
And so Steven has to basically spell it out and be like, You got those students suspended, Alex. They are upset with you because of this. They were exposed publically, which embarrassed them, and people tend to not like being embarrassed.
And Alex is like, Oh.
• Repetitive behavior/movements: Most often seen when Alex is distressed or scared, his mannerisms definitely stand out in many scenes. He paces, taps his foot/bounces his leg, rubs his hands together or over his lap, rocks back and forth, and avoids eye contact. I made a post about this a short while back because it really is interesting (and a testament to how well the character was played). There are moments where Alex is completely confident and "calm", and you can see that reflected in the way he carries himself. But whenever he's upset or anxious, you'll start to notice a variety of the things listed above.
So. Yeah. All these things considered...I headcanon Alex as possibly being autistic?? Which is not a take I've ever seen anyone else mention (and I seriously doubt anyone working on the show had this angle in mind at all) but watching through the series, my radar just goes off when it comes to APK.
I have no idea how this will be received. (If anyone even reads it because wow, this got away from me).
Thanks for the ask. As you may be able to tell, I enjoyed being able to spew out my thoughts.
#family ties#alex p keaton#apk#asks#do you see why it takes me so long to answer asks sometimes?#I'm out here writing an essay#I guess it's good that so few people I actually know watch/are fans of FT#because they would not have the option to keep scrolling and ignore me in situations like this#BUT! I was recently watching FT with someone who is new to the show#and I had said nothing about anything relating to this post or my thoughts here#after enough eps that they were able to get the full picture of Alex#they said ''You know...Alex could be autistic''#and I was like !!!!!!!! YOU SEE IT TOO

Yeah, forget side content, just gonna steam on ahead with the Sports Festival and onwards. I might not actually stop and start trying to do overarching plot stuff until ~chapter 100 (more specifically, post ch 97, the last chapter of the Kamino Arc) because then there will be enough material to actually like. Do stuff. Might also have something smaller after the Sports Festival since that’s ~chapter 50. Shrugs.
Anyways, onwards. Don’t you miss the days when the main trio of the series was Izuku, Tenya, and Ochako? Man, don’t I. :(
[No. 22 - That’s the Idea, Ochako!]
Character sheet! I am honestly laughing super hard at everything because just. ‘Very Ochako.’ Thank you, Horikoshi. A few things about the sheet:
1) god I love that her fingerpads are called soft. Like. Actual cat paw pad fingers going on here. just imagine if you like pressed one of them like you do with cat paw pads and like, she had cat claws that would extend. cute but also menacing.
2) strong legs. leg day squad. her, izuku, and iida all doing leg day workouts together tho... katsuki wishes he had the leg strength of those three y'all
3) That quirk description… that’s not quite how centrifugal forces work, but I mean. Superhero comic physics. At least he made an attempt at explaining her quirk.
Anyways, onto the actual chapter.
We open up in a staff meeting in a conference room at UA, with Tsukauchi presenting the results of the police investigations. He states that the one called Shigaraki has a quirk that allows him to disintegrate anything he touches. They (the police) have been through the list of men in their twenties and thirties in the quirk registry with no luck - and nothing turned up on the ‘warp gate’ user Kurogiri either. With neither registered, both using aliases, and no quirk records, they’re pretty much confirmed to be members of the underworld.
God sorry, I’m just distracted with the sheer size difference between Toshinori and Nedzu here.
What the fuck. Why did you put the largest person in the room next to the smallest?
Whatever. Snipe surmises that they know next to nothing, but they need to learn fast, or the leader of the villains, Shigaraki, will heal up and be back again. Toshinori is thoughtful as he mulls over the use of ‘leader’, which Nedzu catches quickly and inquires into. Probably still heavily banking on Toshinori’s instincts here since he was technically right about his bad feeling about the USJ just two days before.
I mean, how it has to sting Nedzu that all his state of the art systems meant to keep out intruders and alert UA to situations on campus failed at the critical moment, while Toshinori’s instincts on something being wrong had been absolutely on point and, if Nedzu had let him go, might have solved the situation that much sooner.
(I mean, there’s arguments for what could have happened if All Might did arrive early, so. Shrugs.)
And so we get into the segment I like to fondly consider a prime example of the fact that yes, Toshinori does in fact have a 6/6 intelligence score for a reason.
He brings up how nothing about the situation feels normal. It was an especially daring attack - and not just in the meticulous planning! Shigaraki had started going on about some ridiculous ideology… and though he didn’t say anything about his own quirk, he couldn’t keep himself from bragging about the nomu’s quirk. And when things didn’t go his way? He threw a tantrum. Toshinori then admits with grit teeth and clenched fist that the business about quirks was meant to provoke him, and that it did hurt.
Nedzu says that even so, it’s foolish for villains to reveal quirks in a battle against heroes and so waste the element of surprise.
Toshinori surmises his previous observations about Shigaraki - spouting a plausible yet deluded ideology, bragging about the toy he brought along, simple-mindedly assuming all would go his way. If they thought about how the attack was carried out, it seems clear that Shigaraki couldn’t hide his childish nature, the sense that he does what he wants, and then flat-out calls him a man-child.
Vlad King sums up Toshinori’s words as Shigaraki being a kid with too much power. Midnight adds on how Shigaraki might never have received general quirk counseling in elementary school; Vlad wonders whether that even matters.
Tsukauchi steps back into the conversation to give the rest of the arrest results - a total of 72 villains were apprehended at the USJ. He states that all of them were just back-alley thugs, but the question is why so many of them would agree to follow this ‘man-child.’ He points out that modern society is saturated with heroes, so small-time villains like them, who always get kicked around, might have been drawn in by that sort of pure, unaffected evil.
Toshinori having a flashback here, though his expression… I wonder if he’s having doubts already. And honestly, that flashback bit has me wonder just how common ‘uncontrollable’ quirks really are… and what COUNTS as ‘uncontrollable’ in their society.
To avoid a longer derail, Tsukauchi finishes up by saying that thanks to the heroes, the police can focus on their investigation. They’ll expand their search and devote efforts to apprehending the perpetrators.
Nedzu finishes out the scene by musing over the use of ‘man-child,’ stating that in one way, Shigaraki is a lot like their students. He has potential to grow, if only he had a proper mentor to follow. It’s difficult to think about these things.
And so we shift scenes back over to 1a. I doubt this sports festival talk is happening at the same time as the staff meeting, if only because Aizawa should have been at said staff meeting. Or maybe he wasn’t supposed to be there at all and the homerooms were meant to handle themselves that morning? Wait, hold on-
That clock reads 8:25. This is happening during the homeroom period, which means that the other classes are having independant homeroom. Which also means it’s no surprise that Aizawa isn’t at that meeting, because he’s busy hobbling to his class to announce the sports festival. He probably had to be caught up on the meeting stuff later.
Anyways. The class is surprised over the announcement of the sports festival, someone calling it ‘totally ordinary’ while another (I think Mineta) questions whether Aizawa’s sure about this, since they just had that villain attack. Aizawa states that it’s necessary to demonstrate that UA’s crisis management protocols are sound - or that’s the thinking, anyways. There will be five times the police presence of previous years. Oh, and also the sports festival is the greatest opportunity the class will get. It’s not something that can be cancelled over a few villains.
Mineta (again?) asks if he’s sure about that, muttering about how it’s ‘just a stupid sports festival.’ Izuku seems completely horrified at the idea that Mineta might have never seen UA’s sports festival, which Mineta hastens to correct - he has, that’s not what he meant.
I’m sorry just. That face. I can’t with this kid. Jdsjlgkd.
Also, we finally get to the page that had me double-take when I got to it because, well.
So yeah, apparently the BNHA timeline didn’t have certain current events happened that would force the cancellation of the Olympics. (I mean, obviously Hori had no way of knowing the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo would be cancelled, but it’s still like a huge sign of how long this series has been running that this is here.)
Moving on, basically the above surmises for readers that the sports festival is as big an event to them as the Olympics are to us. So basically, super hype. Momo notes that all the nation’s top heroes will be watching and scouting. Kaminari adds on how the heroes will be looking to hire the hero students as sidekicks after they graduate. Jirou makes a cutting retort how a lot of those sidekicks never manage to go solo, stuck as sidekicks forever, before telling Kaminari that’ll be him.
Shot through the heart.
(Also a total aside I just realized: current manga events likely mean there will be no sports festival for 2a. I mean, I would say the events happening there are large enough in scope that UA just doesn’t have the inclination or interest in broadcasting vital information the villains could use. And like, no scouting, no internships, no purpose for it.
And I mean, even if they did, would any of the kids even be able to focus on doing their best? God knows how stressed and nervous they all must be with how society is basically collapsing outside the school.)
Aizawa tells the class that they’ll gain valuable experience and popularity if they’re picked up by a big-name hero. However, their time is limited. They need to show the pros what they’re made of to make futures for themselves. This happens once a year, so they have three shots. If they want to be heroes, this is an event they can’t miss.
The whole class seems to be taking this seriously, but Izuku…
Well, he doesn’t seem as enthused as expected.
Anyways, I’ll cut it there and leave the rest for next time, since there’s a time break in here anyways. It’s not quite halfway, but eh.

please do a hc of amy finding out who told mac the word “stupid”
(did I already think this up when writing that bit? maybeee~)
It had to be someone on the squad.
They hadn't been able to visit her family for a few weeks, Roger had been away for 'work' again, and Karen would never dare.
So, Amy reasoned, it had to be someone from the squad who dropped the cursed s-word in front of Mac, causing him to pick it up and make it part of his daily repertoire of words. And boy, did he make it part of it. 'Shtoopid!' rang through the apartment at least two or three times a day, and even through the park several times. That, along with the well-loved 'No' almost made her wish she could go back to a time where Mac's talking was just a constant stream of gibberish, of blerbler's and googoo's as he crawled around on his playmat.
(That wasn't really true - she definitely didn't want to go back to before the magic little moment where he looked up at her one morning from his crib, smiling that wide gummy smile and shouting Mama at her. Or the moment a day later, when Jake came back from getting dinner and was greeted with an excited Dada that made him drop whatever box he was holding to swoop their little on up in a spin-and-hug. He was so happy about it he didn't even bother moaning about being secondary to her yet again.)
Anyway, it had to be someone from the squad. Terry was quickly out of her consideration, as he vehemently protested and swore that he didn't even use such words in front of his much older girls, so he would never dare use it with Mac, and she truly believed him. She highly suspected Charles - he could barely watch his mouth if he started on some story or restaurant review - but Rosa was also a viable option. Not that she'd intentionally teach her godson something like that, but she was also most likely to forget herself in front of him and drop a casual 'stupid' into her few short sentences. Amy even considered Scully and Hitchcock for a while - not that Mac spent any time with them, but they were always somewhere in the background when they brought him to the precinct, and the likelihood of them shouting about something being 'stupid' loud enough for Mac to hear was high.
Jake, of course, had been her first and prime suspect for a long time. A lot of circumstancial evidence pointed to him - he was obviously around Mac the most apart from her, and he had an infamous motormouth, and he would also definitely be one of the few who might find the idea hilarious. But she could read her husband like one of her most beloved books, and she could see the exhasperation in his face every time Mac leveled whatever he offered him to eat or play with another 'shtoopid!', and she knew he was just as annoyed by it all as she was. If he actually had taught him to say that, he would've confessed to it by now, and probably punished himself worse for it than she would.
"Is that really a case that needs solving?" He asked instead as she went on another rant about it on the way to the precinct. Mac was happily gurgling in his carrier in the backseat, and she'd drop him off at daycare after her morning meeting, but she was still worried he might pick up another bad word from his time with Jake and Aunt RoRo in the breakroom. Holt was a kind enough boss to overlook how often they had to bring him to work with them for a while as they juggled babysitters and daycare and grandparents, sometimes even offering to watch Mac himself while he was working in his office, but he wasn't going to let two of his detectives skip working on their new case for an hour while they played with him, so there'd definitely be some heavier talk over evidence pictures while Mac entertained himself with some toys.
"I just want to know so I can re-direct my frustrations about it away from Mac." She admitted with a huff, and Jake silently hoped she'd never figure it out, to spare the poor victim the onslaught of Amy's subsequent mommy rage. He didn't dare say it, though, opting for a comforting kiss to her cheek instead as she went up with him and Mac in the elevator, ready to give Rosa some very unneeded instructions for the 60 minutes he'd be in her care with his dad present.
She was quickly stopped with a very distinct look from Rosa and shooed back into the elevator to actually get to her meeting. A small sigh escaped her before the doors even closed, and she noticed someone stepping in next to her.
"Good morning, Sergeant Santiago." Kevin's by now familiar voice startled her. As much as he'd warmed up to his husband's squad, he was still not too fond of actually visiting the bullpen.
"Oh, good morning Dr. Cozner. What brings you here?"
"I have some matters to attend to downtown. Raymond thought it was most logical to drive here together and then split up." She nodded as he continued what he probably considered smalltalk. "How is your child? Raymond tells me he's developing faster than expected, which must make you and Jacob quite proud."
"Oh, he's wonderful!" Amy started to beam instantly - Kevin knew all too well that complimenting a baby was the way to every mother's heart. "He's crawling everywhere and starting to talk now - he knows quite a few words already - except he keeps sticking with 'no' and 'stupid', which can be tiring." She sighed again as it was now Kevin's turn to nod.
"Ah yes." His voice seemed to change into a slightly lower, more chagrined tone. "I have been meaning to apologise for that."
Time seemed to stop for just a second, before the elevator doors pinged open and they both stepped out to the ground floor.
"You- you mean you-" Amy stuttered and felt a confusing mixture of anger and fear rise in her.
"Oh no, not me. But I am afraid it was my choice of infant literature for the last time we babysat McClane that caused Holt to go on a more than heated tirade once we thought the child was asleep. We did not realise until it was too late that he was still awake."
She was left speechless, which Kevin didn't seem to notice, as he apologised again and then said his good-byes. Her phone was in her hand before she even sat down at her desk to prepare for the morning meeting, frantically sending a text to Jake.
- It was Holt.
- With the candlestick in the library? he answered.
- Holt said stupid in front of Mac. Probably several times.
- Dang, the answer came back - Jake had resolved to even stop swearing in writing, to keep him from slipping up in front of the baby. So no public chewing out the perp as planned?
- Oh, that will definitely happen. Maybe not too publicly.
- Babe, plz don't get urself fired
Jake's text was interrupted by another notification from Rosa, who was probably sitting right next to him and being updated in real time.
- Could be worse, her first message read, and then another followed:
- your dads coulda taught your kid 'bone'

Primed for Sin (2/10)
SUMMARY: This is Arthur's point of view of meeting Elena and the effect it has on him. Arthur doesn't really know what he's gonna do but he doesn't know that she's the one.
WARNING: Delusions, masturbation, smut, stalking, smoking weed and mental illness (Borderline Personality Disorder and PBA)
Please kindly do not read this if these offends or triggers anyone. Im always here to listen if someone needs it.
Hey again. This is part 2 of idk how many parts to the Primed for Sin story. Like I said before idk where I'm gonna go with this but this chapter is gonna be more dark when it talk about stalking and mental illness. I decided to have Elena too have stuggles with mental illness as well because I felt it better represent what I'm going through with my own mental health. So I apologize if I offend anyone or if anyone feels misrepresented.
Primed for Sin Part 1
Arthur could feel his whole body ache as he sat on the couch in the apartment he shared with his mother. His legs bounced as he sat back on the couch. One of his hands coming up to his mouth to take a drag of a cigarette while the other one held the boys toy train. He could feel another one of his laughing fits hit once again.
He couldn't help the raging fits of laughter that escaped him as he felt the sharp pain of anxiety shocking his body. He remembers the events that had happen earlier that day.
He tried to think of something else, anything else but he couldn't stop himself from thinking of how beautiful that girl was when she had smiled at him earlier. How she smelled of peppermint, it reminded him of Christmas. Even though he never really was able to really celebrate it, something about the season always brought him comfort.
He felt his pain starting to ease as the laughter once again started to die down for what seemed to be the millionth time today. Ever since this morning he's been having laughing attacks left and right. He squeezed the toy train even harder. His thoughts beginning to roam again. He didn't know anything about that girl but he knew he needed to know more. No, craved to know more. There was nothing that would keep him from her. He already knew this, he just didn't know how far he would take himself for it.
He imagined that she would be the perfect good girl for him. She's already seemed to be a mother figure which delighted Arthur. Maybe one day she would be round with his child.
No. Stop it Arthur, he thought to himself. There will be plenty of time for that. For now, he wanted to know more about the boy she was with. Who was he to her? Her son? Has she been with another man? Is she a virgin?
The thoughts ran rapid through his head as he started to spiral. Nothing made him more upset than thinking about another man's hands on her. So he did what his thoughts told him to do. He gathered information on her. Anything he could find. The easiest way to do this was to follow the woman as she goes about her day. He knew it was wrong, the small voice in his head told him so but there there even larger voices telling him to go through.
After a few days of this, he was able to find out more about the sweet girl. Her name was Elena Wheeler. She worked at a comedy club, one that Arthur had gone to often. She did singing gigs on the side while she bartended for the most part. Arthur noticed she like to cover 50s songs as well as write some of her own songs. Arthur would find himself relax while enjoying her voice each night. She would work this job most days while the boy would go to a behavioral center for children.
The boy on the other hand wasn't her son but her younger brother, yet she was the one who had custody over him. This was most likely so he too wouldn't end up in the system.
This gave Arthur some relief as his virgin theory might be true. He'd watch the two of them interact with one another. Almost being jealous of the way they played together. He wish he had that with someone. He will, soon.
It was obvious that the boy had some major abandonment issues. He would cry every time she would kiss him goodbye. Only calming down hours later when he's starts watching a cartoon or until she returns. But Arthur could also tell that Elena had some issues of her own. She too would be antsy every time she was away from the child. Never allowing herself to rest until she knew she was ok.
Arthur would watch her through the window of the complex building. One thing he did notice immediately was the constant hits from a bong. He was honestly surprised how much she could smoke. If she were drinking, he would actually be concerned for her. The girl was small and shouldn't take much to get a high yet there she was coughing up a storm from hitting it so much. Michael was in the other room watching his Thomas show. Arthur couldn't help but wonder why she did this so much. Maybe she was lonely too.
Arthur was able to keep track of her favorite things, what upset her, what made her happy. Everything and anything. He would notice her moods would change frequently. She would be happy one minute and crying the next especially when she was away from Michael. He could see her trying her best to hold it together for the little guy. He really did. His heart leaped just watching it. His heart leaped even more when he saw he watching the Murry Show being played most nights after putting Michael to bed. She's perfect.
Arthur started to understand her more when he was able to get his hands on some of her records. He won't say how but let's just say he has his ways aka breaking and entering. He was glad he did when he saw an entire file dedicated to her.
She had been diagnosed with Boderline personality disorder when she was 18. She herself had been in behavioral centers for having difficulty controlling her anger. She also lived in foster home for most of her childhood it seemed since both her parents abandoned her when she was around 4 years old. Even though her parents had started coming in and out of her life when she turned 18, she never really gained anything from it.
It saddened Arthur to see she had had to struggle so much but that just seems to be a common theme around here in Gotham.
_________________________________________
After a long day of clowning around at his extremely emotionally draining job. He had done his nightly routine of watching Murray and cooking for his mother. After what seemed like an eternity, his mother had finally drifted off into sleep. He felt himself finally relax and with this he let his mind wander.
He wanted to see her. Just see her face. That's all he needed. Even if it was through a window in the freezing cold in the ally way behind the building. Luckily she didn't live on a high floor. That was enough for him to take action.
Arthur quietly grabbed his coat and shoes as he slipped out the door and into the cold. He shivered as the coolness hit his body.
Finally making it to his usual spot for that last few days and set himself up, only looking up when he was finished. His eyes focused on Elenas apartment window. It was dark with the only light coming from the TV in one of the bedrooms. He figured she had put Michael to bed because he could see her all alone, he paused, in only a gray tank top and black panties.
His heart started to race and he could already feel his throat starting to react. The laughter was ready to pour out.
Maybe this isn't a good idea, he thought to himself as he started to reach down to grab his things.
Yet he still couldn't tear his eyes from what he was seeing. Her tangled in the covers with her short brown hair all messy from moving around. It certainly was a sight to see. His cock agreed as it immediately started becoming hard.
The small voice in his head told him to stop. He knew it was wrong to watch her but when her hand started to move up and down her bare leg he knew he couldn't turn away. It was like she knew he was there almost. Like she was putting on a show just for him.
He grew harder and harder the more he watched. Watching her eventually making her way down to her panties, slipping her hand just inside. It didn't take long for her face to start turning and her body to start squirming. It didn't take long before he became hard enough it started to hurt leaning against his pants. He wanted to relieve himself so bad. More importantly he wanted to relieve himself in her but knew that couldn't happen right now.
He couldn't take it anymore when she started to grab at the sheets of the bed. He pulled out his cock that was already leaking with precum. Arthur didn't get a lot of action so when he did he just couldn't contain himself.
Arthur placed his dick in his hand as he started to slowly pump himself. He tried to match the same movements as her, trying to think it was her hand instead. He imagined they would be gentle and soft. His were the total opposite.
He imagined her saying his name. Whispering as she cums or screaming it as he fucked her. He knew he wasn't gonna be able to last long with all these dirty thoughts roaming his head. To his delight she couldn't seem to either. Elenas back was arched as her hands started to tease her breasts underneath her tank top.
He was right as her body started to shake, her chest move up and down swiftly as she starts to come down from her high. This gave Arthur the silent ok for him to cum as well. And when this boy cums, he cums everywhere. He just can't hold himself back. Shamefully cumming in a nearby trashcan so no one would see.
He quickly cleaned himself up, looking up and down the ally to make sure no one is watching. He couldn't help the connection he felt with her. She was so sweet the first time they meet and she's perfect now weak against her mattress.
Ok its time to make a move.

Fundy Dream SMP Chaos 01 APR 21
Delayed Liveblogging Part 1/1
I’m late cause I was on Wills stream.
He was laughing and complaining about not being able to burn things.
He’s happy he made a thing.
Oh no. Why is he tnting the castle and arsoning?
Why is Fundy causing problems on purpose?
Fundy honey please don’t break the holy land.
Oh it’s supposedly a fake server.
I need to read chat more to learn what is happening.
I guess I trust chat with fake smp?
OH WAIT! It’s April first!
I expected Fundy to prank us but I’m honestly too stupid for my own good sometimes.
Alright install hacks. Let’s go.
Chat has been burned before today.
Just casually looking at the reach mods.
The reason I don’t trust this is be a fake server is because he was on the real server earlier.
Fundy honestly might just be trying problems on purpose and it wouldn’t surprise me.
Sneaking under the half door! Oh wait never mind.
Oh no. Not memory dream stuff. Please your chat will cry.
Arson the Tommy house.
Arson the trees.
Oh an awesome old house.
Ah yes more tnt.
Fox boy has had quite the explosion obsession lately.
Upwards MLG. So talented.
I still don’t trust this not to be real. Because Fundy very well might explode things.
My dog is laying on my foot.
Lots of explosions.
Making more tnt nice.
Fundy gets banned arc! Let’s goooo.
Ok I want to see Fundy make this shot.
Explosion hour!
You can do it!
Chat is so divided between encouraging chaos and desperately hoping this is an April fools prank.
It’s still April first over there isn’t it?
1000% cannon
I love how Fundy understands that people do what they are told not to. So he tells them not to prime.
So close.
Come on! Explosion!
FOR THE PRIMES!
Yesssss!!!
MLG Fire. All the talent of this man.
I was so excited for Pokémon cards. But no face cam.
Wait don’t do Pokémon cards. We can’t see. 😢
Ah yes, Pokémon card asmr...
I wish I could see the cards. I love Pokémon cards.
I don’t know what some of these Pokémon he is vaguely describing are.
Oh wait! What was the last one???
Oooo what is it? What is it?
Rainbow glitter doesn’t limit it.
I could not understand that name. I can’t tell if it’s good.
Also Fundy. Time to look at this card.
Quit retaking the picture and just post it.
I swear he is enjoying toying with us.
We’re being shot while he’s trying to take a picture.
Ok time to check the bird site.
I have replied to the tweet with the requested phrase.
I don’t believe it’s worth a lot but it’s pretty.
Finally we’re done being stabbed by the skeleton.
Skeleton coming into close shot range.
Please don’t drown sir.
He’s comin’
Anyway back to causing problems.
Or you know back on memory lane...
Oh wait nevermind. Problems on purpose.
Really cool idea?
Another lovely ranged shot.
Aww. Didn’t quite make it.

Lazy way now.
“Eek” -Fundy
That’s one way to get revenge.
Chat keeping on calling for the death of Michael.
Casually sneaking into creative cause he’s out of tnt.
Tnt balloon launcher!
Oh Fundy planning on causing trouble at the other prison.
Tnt launcher let’s go.
Oh a being donated 100 lovely.
They deserve to have a tnt launcher named after them.
The chests being full has me suspicious but I still doubt the boy is truly causing problems on purpose.
Tnt launcher did not work.
L the streamer.
Oh Niki is going live on the smp. I suppose that’s one way we can find out if it’s the true smp.
Off they went. But it’s not accurate.
We’re just working with Fundy to cause trouble.
Nope. He just can’t do it.
Wow he’s flying like magic! (And covering that with tnt)
Making homemaker a bigger target isn’t going to work.
He’s gathering so many arrows.
Not a single one hit. Awesome looking but a lovely failure.
I tried to check on Nikis stream but the only thing that happened is I had to watch an ad to get back to Fundy.
Also Niki was hosting Minx. I missed her.
Awesome explosion Fundy.
Ah. Auto build.
Oh we auto built a bunch of signs. And none of them have the message.
Fungi grave. With diamonds. Lovely.
I am enjoying this even if I know better.
Ah. A lovely pile of tnt.
Poof!
Someone should have let Fundy have tnt sooner.
Casual flight.
I always love the music on Fundy’s streams. Just That lovely nostalgia.
Just piles of tnt by the hotel.
Chat is so panicked.
I don’t think most of them know it’s April first.
Oooo are we gambling?
Nope not gambling. But it did work gorgeously.
I’m not a griefing kind of person, but this does my heart good.
Enjoying problems.
“Oh what’s this place” adds tnt “gone” -Fundy
Come on chat people. Just encourage him. Quit saying check the date and that it’s a fake server. Just role with it.
Oh that was a very pretty explosion.
Exploded early but it worked (stupid egg bits)
A gorgeous sideways explosion.
We still aren’t destroying... oh wait. We are exploding. No sign.
No escape. But he survived. And the prime bell is still safe.
Castle explosion time.
I’m kinda sad about the castle I’ll admit. But I’ll still up for a good explosion.
Made the lil house and now he explodes things.
Chat blowing up the rainbow castle isn’t homophobic. Hush.
Oooo shaders. That’ll look pretty.
Cant wait to see the pretty screenshots the artists use.
Probably a back up. We’ll see.
Oh I’m also a bit sad about the museum. But you know. If we gotta explode things we gotta explode things.
I can’t wait to see the shaders with this.
Struggling to explosions.
Oh pretty. And the hotdog survives!!!
Cinematic. Beautiful.
Donos playing along saying he’ll be banned. Or donos just confused.
This boy truly pretending he hacked his way into creative on the smp.
Ok that was a pretty cinematic shot.
Holo mellons
Sniff raid! Lovely!
Also the person telling them to check out foolish’s stream. Hush. Let us worry people.
Oh did Fundy build the funky cube thing? I doubt but still.
Prison time.
Oh got to get the skeppy and bad house
And whatever that pit building is.
Everyone still talking about how it ain’t real. Quit it y’all. Come on. Join the joke.
Our dearest mods trying to keep everyone from spoiling it.
The prison is a really pretty build. And it does look explodable.
Explode the prison. Yes and 5up is hot is what are winning.
The no’s can’t catch up. It’s fire time.
You can tell the prank has failed, but it’s still good for the heart to see it explode. It is still a game after all as emotionally attached as we have gotten to it.
A small thing. A small explosive thing.
Everyone changing lag already.
Everyone already ready to fight Fundy if he were to blow up Michael.
Button time.
Oh we even have the cool undertake music.
And the cannon didn’t reach.
Auto build plus lots of tnt.
This is the grand finale of the prank I believe.
I might to go foolish after this. Get some chaotic building man.
Prime bell!!!
Poof and pop.
Oh that was pretty.
Wait... inner wall...
Well. Lore people take your notes on prison construction.
This knowledge will help you on your quest later.
Prison couldn’t even be broken by a fox with a tnt canon.
Phil Raid! Hooray!
Please be a real raid. I want the extra half hour of chaos.
Even though the fox should be yelled at to go to sleep.
Oh. Was it a real Phil raid? I half expected it not to be.
The chat is both confused and chilling.
You get that hype train rich people.
Walking around trying to pretend we haven’t been blowing everything up.
Casually walking around showing off his destruction.
It’s not even April first over theee anymore is it?
Ah. Yeah it is April fools joke.
Ah. Is Fundy actually coming clean about his stuff.
Ah no. He’s continuing to pretend nothing is happening.
Lots of tnt.
Gorgeous. Magnificent. Fantastic.
I love tnt particles for whatever reason. They always look so good.
That actually did a lot.
Yes join the fox discord! Yes follow the fox Twitter! I’ve already done both. I don’t really check either but still.
Showing off his explosions.
Oh we’re doing a reenactment.
Let’s gooo.
L’manhole v. 3 (4?)
Lots of tnt. Always good.
Oh. Oh no. It’s lagging bad.
The tnt. Isn’t going.
Ah now the true lag.
“Cool guys don’t have the frames to look at explosions” -Fundy
That was a good explosion. How deep did it go? No very probably.
TNT parkour! We love it!
That didn’t work but that was a nice explosion. Plenty of bedrock.
Good job with the hype train rich people.
We enjoy our streamer causing problems.
And the sign has changed again. You know the one. “You heart...”
Trying to fill the orb thing with tnt.
That was a very contained explosion.
Good explosion time.
Ok. We’re talking concrete replacement.
Blood vines exploding this early again.
Casually exploding the tiny Eret.
Everyone convincing him not to blow up the tiny Eret.
I love how those who watch one watch the other.
L’manburg yeah explode it. Eret? No.
Oh wait don’t look at the spoilers.
Secret Base Here.
Ahh. Blowing up his tower as well.
Nevermind. We like the tower.
Reasons. Mhm. Didn’t plan on that when he set this up. (In relation to snowchester)
Boy’s tnt penmanship is like that of a toddler.
Great explosions.
Oh we’re poofing the Targay next.
I love the two types of people. People like me, playing along, and the people who are panicking and praying it’s a copy.
Love the mods telling everyone it’s real.
Aww he died.
It’s ok. We respawned.
Defiantly cannon.
We don’t want it to be? That’s worrying for future lore.
But we’re not talking future lore. We’re doing therapy explosions.
Oh an ad. I didn’t get it. I won’t complain.
All the levels gone so sad. Not like they can spontaneously appear.
No. We aren’t going to snowchester. Too far away.
Where is the next level?
Random fire arrows???
Yes we are question marking.
Coder boy? Minecraft commands?

Kissed by the Baddest Bidder Part 1 - Eisuke Ichinomiya Route (up to Proposal Epilogue)
This is my next guilty pleasure game lolol. Honestly, the premise of the heroine getting sold in an auction and being bought/saved by one of the dodgy rich guys makes it a dubious premise, but I love this kinda "trash"🤣 Eisuke seems like one of the most popular Voltage guys so I do want to see him in sequels haha, and yes, I already played the main story since it was free on the app, but I've kinda forgotten it, so I'll refresh my memory by playing it on the Switch again haha. I also bought My Forged Wedding and Our Two Bedroom Story so yay, more to come~ hahaha. I hope to also buy Scandal in the Spotlight and Kings of Paradise (when it comes out and goes on sale XD) when I'm done with others so yep, lots of Voltage stuff coming I guess hahaha.
I always feel sorry for the heroine that Eisuke makes her run to him within 5 minutes when he calls her, like dudeee, that's ridiculous. Anyway, it's nice that he's teaching her stuff so she's not just his toy to use. I remember finding it hilarious how Eisuke planned to use Soryu as the next "sacrifice" from the beginning and have Carolina fall in love with him instead🤣 She's very tame and silly for an Italian mafia boss' daughter but I guess we should feel blessed about that lol. Even though a lot of the things Eisuke does is questionable, it's nice to know that his reason for being involved in all this underground stuff is because he's searching for his little sister that he got separated from when their parents passed away and they were adopted by different families. It's interesting to think that Eisuke wasn't born a rich boy and actually worked very hard to get where he is now in repayment to the Ichinomiya family but also because I'm sure all this power helps him get more connections to hopefully find his sister one day. I think it's really cute how much he's opening up to the heroine now, but I kinda feel sorry for her in a sense that when Takahiro (her boss) and her finally have a nice thing going on, she's falling for Eisuke.
To be honest, their "love" is rather questionable considering how it's mostly just the heroine listening to everything he says, caring about him, whilst he uses her for what he needs to do and then kinda warms up to the idea of her staying with him and enjoys it. I mean, he barely let her go out and always called her back for trivial things lol. So yeah, even though he's "nice", I find it difficult to accept him, but I guess hopefully the sequels might change that since there's so many haha. I appreciate him trying to protect her though, it's nice to see those rare moments he shows how much he cares about her. I have to say though, that dramatic ending where the heroine picks between Takahiro and Eisuke is so... weird lol, kinda cringy loll. Anyway, let's see His PoV! Honestly, His PoV was nice but doesn't really add that much to what we already knew tbh, like I guess you can see his thought process for the important events, but yeah doesn't really feel like I read anything haha. The epilogue was nice mainly because he FINALLY got rid of all his groupies, like geez, took him a while considering his intolerance for such women who follow him around all the time lol, but the highlight was definitely the heroine getting him to honestly tell her that he loves her. I think it really helps how she always voices to Eisuke what is important to her, and he in turn understands that it's important to her so he listens and reciprocates, it's pretty sweet.
I'm glad Eisuke found his sister in the Season 1 Sequel. Yukari is so cute. I thought it was really nice how the heroine understood how much Eisuke cherished the possibility of meeting his sister again, so if he's rejecting meeting her then there must be a good reason for it. It's pretty dramatic how Eisuke ended up having to save Yukari's husband's father and their wedding in order to have the father have a better opinion of him lol. I'm just happy that Eisuke doesn't have to force himself and lie about his feelings towards finding his sister again and stuff tbh, but it was kinda sad how Eisuke really didn't look for the heroine for days when she "left" him due to not being able to understand his attitude towards Yukari before everything was resolved. I have to agree with the heroine though, Eisuke is just really stubborn about not showing his feelings, but I guess he's getting better at it with the heroine so it's all good lol. I kinda find it cute how Baba was the one to tell the heroine how much Eisuke cares for her, I guess all the guys will get a chance to cheer her up and tell her different sides of him?🥲 It was cute how they visited Yukari's new home and thought about marriage~ Lmao at Eisuke just building a hotel in Dubai because her dart fell on it.
Ooh so, S2 revolves around Dubai~ Gotta feel sorry for the heroine that she nearly got killed for trespassing when it wasn't even her fault. But now she's forced to work at the Dubai hotel as a sort of "punishment" and to let her go from her crime lol. Gotta love how Eisuke just bought an island to live on here lol. Aww, it took a long time, but it's actually really cute how soft Eisuke is with the heroine. I also really like how he's pretty open with their relationship to the others. Do a lot of Japanese people really hate green peas?? I find it so funny that a lot of characters hate green peas, but I guess it's more seen as a "childish" thing haha. So yeah, seeing Eisuke try to say he hates green peas in a prideful way was adorable to say the least. Anyway, Hishikura is quiteeee dodgy and weird lol, why does he want to be an auction manager though, does that help him become the future prime minister?🤔 And I found it so silly the way the heroine "won" Hishikura and left him, like shouldn't the first thing Eisuke and them thought of was the fact that this was an illegitimate auction bid when the product (heroine) was obviously not the dancing girl that was supposed to be sold?? Why did we have to waste so much time on something so simply solved just like that?? Honestly though, I'm sure Hishikura could have made some other excuse though, but still, could they have not resolved it better and had a better reason to allow Hishikura be a part of the gang? Lol.
Sometimes I think I underestimate how much Eisuke likes the heroine, because wow, to protect her, he's willing to let people think he's "running away" from Dubai and all the troubles there, and I guess last time with Hishikura, he made it pretty obvious how important she was to him. Like, Kishi and Soryu being bodyguards for the heroine are understandable (but honestly a waste of their time lol) but I'm not sure if Hishikura, Ota and Baba are very good lol. Anyway, trust Eisuke to propose in such an unromantic way loll. Full just gave her the papers and told her to sign it loll. Anyway, I'm surprised they never had a hotel branch in London, but it doesn't matter since Eisuke can build wherever he likes lol. Wow, like I know Eisuke is selfish and the heroine is very accommodating, but I'm surprised she wasn't mad or even annoyed at all that Eisuke just took back the "proposal" and said nah, not getting married anymore since it's unnecessary. Like excuse me??? And the way the heroine knows he loves her is always just through sex lol, like c'mon heroine, sure he shows his love in many ways, but his attitude still annoys me a lot lol, it really is as if marriage is nothing to him and the heroine hasn't even told him that it's special to her because she'll become his wife. Honestly, he probably said it so she wouldn't feel pressured about it anymore (since she was undecided) but still.
Well, I was going to say Frank and his butler are kinda cute but dang lol, getting revenge for something that happened in middle school that was your own fault is pretty petty of Frank. I'll admit that Eisuke being up for auction and the heroine being auctioneer was pretty fun and interesting haha. Especially when she just started revealing everything about him to the crowd lol, but I guess that way she was able to show how deep her feelings were for him and how much she wanted them to be family instead of him just distancing himself from others and her. I'm so happy Eisuke finally proposed properly and said she'll be his family~~ Anyway, I'm disappointed that they didn't allude anything about Eisuke and London (aside from this Frank guy) when I think it would have been fun to see more about Eisuke's life back in the day instead of a random villain. For once, it was nice to see Eisuke's PoV to the marriage thing. So he suggested marriage to the heroine because he wanted to give her financial security just in case anything happened to him, and he wanted to do it in a way where she wouldn't be scrutinised by the public eye, and that's why he wanted her to be his wife so that everything would "look proper" to others. I guess I can see why he was so shocked and sad when she didn't immediately accept him haha. It was nice seeing Eisuke realise his mistake in saying he wanted to the marry the heroine but in the same breath say he didn't need a family, and understand that this was why the heroine was so hesitant. It was really nice to see Eisuke grow and straightforwardly ask Akira (his dad) why did he adopt him and whether he only cares about him because he has a talent for business. Seeing Eisuke face things he usually avoids because of the heroine's support and love makes me happy for him.
Okay, the DLCs (Scattered Cards onwards) on the Switch are too expensive so I'm not going to buy them right now hahaha😅 Overall, I'm not a fan of Eisuke tbh. He definitely got much better over the course of the seasons, but from the heroine's perspective alone, he is a bit frustrating lol, but at the same time, I'd say the same for the heroine for how silly she is lol so I guess they fit well. I think what I'm most disappointed in though is that the premise itself is really just the premise and nothing really "evolves" from it, because the following stories are really just the guys expanding the hotel and dealing with people trying to wreck that rather than stuff about auctions and bidding? I did enjoy Eisuke reuniting with his sister and learning more about how he views family, and then having the heroine make him realise that he does crave family warmth and other things, he just tries to hide it with his bad attitude lol. But yeah, otherwise Eisuke is not bad, just not my type lol, and the stories are rather cliche and bad at some points so yeah, I'd say the plot suffers more than his attitude does for me.
