#i want to make an actual post with headcanons about them now

I understand the intention behind this post and I don't disagree with it. I don't.

If you're writing a period piece or something with a certain dark tone, then yes, you absolutely want to keep to that, give your gruff sailor a mumbled line about not being like most other men, or your scattered workaholic scientist can say she never felt like she was missing out on anything by not having a partner while they save the world.

But do not limit the reach of fanfiction by expecting it to be held to the same standards.

Because we need both. Because the target audience for a lot of works that employ this are young, they're disconnected from community, and they're lost. They think they're broken or they don't fit or they are made wrong.

I, a millennial, didn't know about bisexuality until I read about it in fanfic somewhere around 2003 (I was 13). I didn't know any out gay or queer people growing up. It was still scandalous on tv, and my parents didn't have any problem with it, they just didn't talk about it. I can't imagine how isolating it would have felt if my parents prevented me from watching anything with gay characters or spoke negatively about them.

My first discovery of nonbinary identity was in a bandom fic I read in 2010 (I was 20, for those playing the home game). It was maybe two years after that that I began to talk with nonbinary/genderqueer/genderfluid people online. I knew a couple of binary trans people in college, and one in high school, but this was my first time meeting people who weren't a binary gender. In 2012! It took another two years for me, at this point a full-ass adult, to start describing myself that way.

All of this oversharing to say...my understanding of queer identity was not hand-held by anyone in my life, but boy I learned to accept these foreign ideas I saw in myself because I had a safe fictional environment to explore these concepts and terms.

I think it was 2014-2016 when fanfic spaces had a boom of "everyone is trans" AUs and headcanons, and they were often rose-tinted and a bit twee, but that's the point of them. I saw identities I had to look up, and when I asked in follow-up "okay, but what does a person who feels like that look/act like?" it was all crickets, except in fiction, and specifically fanfic.

"But the world is different now, not knowing is no excuse" NOPE. not with anti-lgbtqia legislation passing in the US, or in other hostile countries around the world (I'm from the US, my argument is US-centric based on my experience and knowledge, but by no means exclusionary of people in other countries), or even family situations or rural upbringing or any other circumstance that isolated young queer folk from other queer folk.

A popular live-service video game introduced a nonbinary character and I saw twitch chats full of people who were just confused and uneducated. Ignoring those who were hostile was easy, but the uninformed, especially the non-English-speakers and people who didn't come from Western cultures, were largely open to learning something they never had framework for. Made all the more frustrating in a game environment where the characters didn't make a habit of having these discussions on screen, but that's a different rant.

I don't know if OP intended this in reference to original media, or toward fic, but I saw a lot of established characters in the reblogs so I just want to address that. I'm a characterization first fic reader, so I get it. "Everyone is trans" fics aren't for me, but there's a space needed for them if someone needs to see Captain Kirk and Spock debating the application of terminology of human gender and sexuality in interplanetary cultural settings...now actually I kind of want that fic so I played myself.

Dragon Age Veilguard came under attack for daring to openly and forwardly use the term "nonbinary" in its fantasy world, as though something about the word is inherently incompatible with the fantasy genre? But the game was pretty clear in its goal to create a safe gaming space for marginalized folks when so often their experiences are erased, ignored, tokenized, or stereotyped. The narrative, therefore, had to be hostile to the unaccepting, educational for the ignorant, and validating to the vulnerable. Getting to play in a world where people are referred to as nonbinary (just like me) and where people use they/them pronouns (just like me) and where no one ridicules or attacks them specifically for this? It felt comfortable and safe and the world was ending in the game, but I felt a personal empowerment in my immersion.

More complex and nuanced discussions by characters about their queer identity add to the picture. It shouldn't be in every work because every author has their own angle and their own philosophy about it, but they have just as much a right to a seat at the table. You can have your fics where Tony Stark's sexuality is a smirk and a wink, and you can have your fics where he explains that he used to call himself bisexual but the world is bigger and weirder so he considers himself omnisexual now. And if you don't like that, scroll past it. The author didn't write it for you, but someone else needs to hear that.

Maybe this is just a personal vent that escaped containment, but I feel the need to remind some folks that some people need the LGBT center brochure version because they didn't get one in the mail. It's a tough time for everyone in this community, no need to make it tougher.

How I like to characterize Sprout is that he’s great talking with the ones he’s close with (Cosmo, Astro, etc.) But incredibly socially awkward with others. He comes off as brash, but he’s trying his best.

What guidelines do you try to follow when writing Sprout? I’m just curious.

ALSO NOTE THAT AT THE END OF THE DAY THIS IS MERELY MY INTERPRETATION OF HIS CHARACTER. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN!! Don't take my post as a mandatory guide to follow.

Let's talk about what's canon:

I like checking the Wikipedia for his dialogues every now and then to make sure he's not too out-of-character.

Sprout comes off as blunt, he does not sugarcoat his words when he has something to say.

Not even an excuse or a reason as to why he doesn't want to join Teagan for tea; It was straight up a "no" until Teagan told him Cosmo will join them too. (Also I want to point out he doesn't immediately say yes when he's told Cosmo will be there, so for all we know he'd still decline even if his best friend's joining Teagan).

Dandy's dialogue when you purchase Sprout. I think about it a lot. Out of all the character dialogues, the one with Astro is what I feel like is an example of his overprotectiveness coming across as "pushy".

He'd definitely be the type to scold his friends. Especially after Gardenview's shutdown with all the Twisteds wreaking havoc and whatnot. I don't think Sprout is fond of going on runs, but only does so he can watch over everyone and keep them safe. He makes sure everyone is focused and on high alert, he doesn't want anyone to be reckless.

He prioritizes safety over answers. His dialogue with Rodger shows that. Maybe he's also curious as to what has happened, because in Vee's dialogue he tried talking to Dandy only for Dandy to walk away. I assume Sprout just wanted to check up on him rather than knowing what's going on with Gardenview and the Twisteds.

Another thing I don't really see often is how Sprout is actually pretty forgetful and impulsive.

For a Toon who's constantly keeping watch on everyone he surely does not apply the same kind of attention to himself.

He talks before thinking about his words, but once he realized that he immediately apologized to Vee. I don't think he always notices when he comes across as rude though.

I actually think he's actually quite reckless when he bakes. I obviously can't show it in this post but if you look at that animation with Cosmo and Sprout baking they're not even measuring the ingredients. I mean what. 😭

The way he bakes feels so impulsive and it just looked like they were winging it. Somehow despite that their baked goods still end up great and that's honestly impressive.

Okay now for that dialogue between Bobette and Sprout, I was getting there-- I've never made a gingerbread house but from what I've seen from other people it requires a lot more patience and carefulness.

Sprout is neither.

According to him, his gingerbread house fell apart immediately and then he stopped trying afterwards. It's honestly funny.

I feel like this also shows through his stats. Both his extraction speed and skillcheck is 2 stars. His stamina and speed is way higher. He prefers running around, probably to make sure he can watch over everyone during their runs. That or because he has long legs.

Anyway to recap; Sprout in canon is blunt, pushy, overprotective, and impulsive. But he genuinely has good intentions and means well. He cares for his friends, which is why he scolds them because he wants to make sure they're safe.

Now for some headcanons:

Okay this is the part where I make stuff up. So it's just my take;

• He has ADHD.

I'M STARTING WITH THE NEURODIVERGENT HEADCANON.

This is not a unique headcanon. I've seen so many people who headcanons this too so it's relatively popular. Personally, I only see him with ADHD. (I'm projecting).

He's forgetful, impulsive, and quite socially awkward in a way aswell. He's easily distracted. He keeps forgetting about the oven. He's impulsive when baking. I'm a very impulsive and reckless person myself, I constantly make mistakes when I draw, yet somehow they end up okay 😭. When I'm not able to draw something right, I give up immediately. (I projected this onto the gingerbread house thing earlier).

• He comes across as intimidating.

You know in Kids' birthday parties when there's a mascot a lotta kids go run and hide? I based it off of that. I remember when I was like, 6 or 7, when a mascot came in I cried and hid under a table. They were tall.. <\3

I feel like there was a concerning number of kids who were actually afraid of him, despite how friendly he appears both in person and in the show. Maybe it's the RBF when he's not smiling..

I also like to think he's taller than some of the kids who comes to Gardenview which plays a factor to the whole "intimidating" thing. The way Sprout deals with this is giving the kids cupcakes or other sweets. Once the kids actually talk to him they're immediately comfortable.

• He was one of the very first to become "Twisted".

I don't have a concrete idea on how the story of the game goes, but I always imagine the Mains being the first victims. Sprout is a healer and he keeps an eye on everyone, so he had to go first.

Thinkin' Jayvik thoughts (to nobody's surprise)

I wanted to explore how their bodies would change with the added weight, how the fat would settle on them differently

Jayce has always been a big guy, his muscular, square-ish build giving him plenty of mass to start off with. I see him being more of a top heavy/barrel chested kinda guy once he gets bigger, carrying it all pretty evenly, but he still maintains that square shape, despite being much rounder and softer around the middle. He's still very strong, probably even more so now that he has all that bulk to give him some more leverage- man eats like he'll never see food again, especially after a long session in the forge-

Viktor however, starts off very thin, so it's more of a mystery to them both how he would start to accumulate the pounds over time. Once he starts gaining, it wouldn't be as noticeable at first, since it would start as his body just filling out to a healthy weight, opposed to his more gaunt, sickly form from act 2 season 1 and onward-

Eventually though, it shifts, from having just enough to finally provide some cushion and insulation so his bones don't protrude as much, to slightly plump. He looks healthier than ever, and finally has developed more of an appetite. He grows into a pear shape, most of the fat settling in his hips, thighs and lower belly. Jayce ends up making his braces a little more easily adjustable for both his leg and back, since he's been outgrowing them pretty fast as of late >;]

I decided to do their season 1 looks as well as a little post-canon concept just for funsies~ ;p

I didn't add Viktor's braces in the first one since I wanted to show off the fun chonk, but I did add a bit of bruising where they would normally sit on his body

In the second one, his braces are now a part of his body, shown in his scars, similar to his hexcorized form from s2 ;]

Jayvik Feedism Headcanons

Just based off of their characters, Viktor would be more of a passive gainer, with Jayce encouraging him to take care of himself more and actually eat regular meals, he'd sometimes forget how much smaller Viktor's appetite is compared to his own (big 6'4 beefy guy who works in a forge half the time) and Viktor would probably end up eating more than he should thanks to Jayce's coaxing and big wet puppy dog eyes when he asks him to finish off what he made for him

They're both scientists and work long hours in a lab together, so Jayce would probably bring more food to the lab to make sure Viktor doesn't skip meals (cause in canon he does severely neglect a lot of his own needs because he's so focused on just his own research, he forgets he's a human who needs to take care of his vessel-)

He would start to gain noticeably, and he ends up looking much healthier and more alive, he has more energy and stops looking so gaunt and underfed. He just looks thin, but not dangerously so

That doesn't stop his partner from continuing with the doting and favors, always insisting he have his fill, though lightheartedly

Vik starts getting noticeably fat and Jayce notices. And it drives. Him. Mad.

He tries to ignore it and act normal but it's definitely having an effect on him when he's messing up equations and missing chunks of Viktor's rambles about their projects because he's just. Staring.

I mean can you blame him, man's got the tummy tucked into the pants and everything, it's just begging to be freed atp-

Eventually Viktor makes him spit out what's got him so flustered and they both learn of their mutual attraction to one another

Bing bang boom they keep going, with Viktor now being very open and almost teasing Jayce with his growth, and pushing Jayce to eat more too and to gain with him.

Jayce, always eager to please, goes full in and just constantly stuffs himself in front of Vik, melting from all the praise and loving touches he gets. Sometimes he does it even when Viktor isn't there, just because he misses the feeling or when he's stressed about a project. Viktor finds it endearing

Jayce would do anything for him, and proves it time and time again when Viktor pushes him past his limits consistently, reduced to a panting, whining, burpy mess >:3c

He gets big. Like big..

And they both love it-

yeah! i plan to include that! initially it was for adamas' reaction cuz i had to make headcanons about the titanomachy (this old post here) and i placed iapetus as adamas' opponent, who adamas obviously defeats and kills

buuuuuuut now that the spinoff is out and prometheus is a canon ror character, i can also talk about his reactions too!!!!

honestly, prometheus might actually shed a tear of joy when he sees pjo!iapetus (or bob now). cuz later on, bob eventually regains his old memories of when he was iapetus, but instead of reverting back to his evil and cruel self, he chooses to be good 🥺🥺🥺

The Rise of Team E-Scope Headcanons: Part Four

Idea Post Part One Last Part

• Paris challenge was one that Noah vehemently hated. Not only because he was made to go through the stupid lasers but also because stupid Justin and sneaky Alejandro kept trying to partner up with him to find their statue pieces and he kept having to remind them it was a team challenge. The attention caused an uptick in Heather's dislike for Noah, but he thought it was because they had been close to beating The Amazons, not because she was jealous of him.

New format for headcanons for this AU and maybe others! You may have noticed that I have a need or want for things to be organized, and the way the headcanons are now has kind of gotten to me. XD. They're not bad, but they are all over the place, so I think I'm going to do episode by episode headcanons so they are easier to follow! Let me know which format you like better!

Anywho, onward to the rest of the headcanons!

Walk Like An Egyptian Pt 1 & 2:

• Noah, of course, already knew about the singing part of their contracts and told Izzy and Eva. Chris let him know so he could help convince Eva to stay for the new season. It took a lot of convincing from him and Izzy, but thankfully, Eva agreed to sing.

• Again, Ezekiel has a deal with Chris/ the network to go "feral," so him being thrown out of the plane was planned. As was his stowing-away in the cargo hold till they got to Egypt.

• This season will have reward challenges, elimination challenges, and double elimination challenges since it is a bigger cast and supposed to be the bigger and better season. Chris, of course, chooses when a challenge is a reward, elimination, or double elimination. Sometimes, it's purely strategic views wise, and others he rolls a dice.

• Those who go over the pyramid: Alejandro, Bridgette, Lindsay, Tyler, Courtney, Gwen, Duncan, Katie, Sadie, Trent

• Those who go "under": Noah, Izzy, Owen, Eva, Leshawna, Harold, DJ, Cody, Sierra, Heather, Justin, Ezekiel

• If you think Eva would go over the pyramid, you're absolutely right, but only if she was by herself on the season. She would also go over if it was just Team E-Scope that got on the show. She would carry them the whole way up and down kinda like Alejandro did with Lindsay and Bridgette. But because Owen is there, she knew Noah and Izzy would go through the pyramid, and she didn't want to leave them, so she went with her friends. UwU she a ride or die friend.

• They do get separated, she stuck by mummy Izzy, and they somehow lost Noah and Owen.

• Noah and Owen do run out screaming, and when the others tease him about running away from Zeke, he just dead pans, "You guys know the peanut gallery had to watch the show right? Gwen ended up facing an actual escaped convict in season one. A convict who was a serial killer. I'm not taking my chances."

• Everyone is so nonchalant in how they agree, and a couple even laughed about that incident except Alejandro, who on the inside was terrified by how casual they were about it and even more how they laughed like it was a fond memory. He regrets all his decisions. UwU

• When they're weaving the boats, Heather makes fun of Noah for actually trying because she thinks he regrets getting out so early in season one by not being a team player. Everyone is surprised at his reaction. He laughs.

"Honey, you're not as smart as I thought, which mind you wasn't much, if you didn't figure out that I got myself thrown off."

"WHAT!?" From everyone except Team E-Scope + Owen. Alejandro's was more confused than outraged like the others.

"What do you mean what? Do you really think I was going to stay in that rinky dink run-down camp when we were promised a resort? Yeah, no."

"But...but..."

"I mean, sure, I missed out on the money, but think of it this way. I got to stay in a five-star, fully catered, fully equipped resort for the whole competition, and you got to be humiliated on international television. Looooved your work in 'I Triple Dog Dare You', by the way."

Did Alejandro feel his heart skip a beat at the little smirk Noah had at the end? Not that anyone can prove and not that he could understand the reason why. Perhaps he was just excited to know there was someone at least a little funny on his team.

"And before you start yapping like the chihuahua you are, I was already punished for being thrown off on purpose by the producers. Why do you think I was Chris's assistant?"

"Because you love me?" Chris said out of nowhere.

"Ha."

• That's how everyone found out Noah was made to be Chris's assistant. Which is true! For at least the rest of season one, but he was so efficient that Chris asked him to continue and Noah actually liked the work despite the chaos and agreed.

• Ezekiel is voted out like planned, but Chris is still upset that Duncan quit. It threw off the numbers and the uniform look of the teams!!

• Back on the plane, Justin immediately gets started on flirting with Noah because he finds his anger so entertaining. In this au, Noah and Cody joke about being ex boyfriends like in my other au, so Cody jumps in.

"Flirting with another in front of me? Noah how could you! The wound is still fresh."

"Good to know you're still obsessed with me. It's been like what? Two years since our summer camp romance? I'm flattered."

Justin is irritated that his entertainment was cut short, but the way the two joked with each other was somehow so wholesome it had the whole cast amused. That is until they heard a loud thud and saw Eva on top of Sierra.

• Eva tackled Sierra because the girl had been ready to lunge at Noah. Or well, it looked like it to Eva. The bubbly stalker's face in that moment had honestly scared her, and she worried for her friend.

• After that, the Amazon's awkwardly went to first class for the night while the rest went on about their own business, but they all were thinking about Sierra and her reaction to Noah and Cody play flirting. Noah was disturbed and not that he would admit, but also a little terrified.

• That night, Izzy made Noah sleep between her and Owen just in case Stalkerlicious came out for some odd idea of revenge. Little did they know, but Eva didn't get a lot of sleep because she was watching the door from her spot on the sofa closest to it for that same reason. She wouldn't let anyone hurt her little brother.

• They did get to stay in Egypt for about two days once they landed the plane closer to a city. It was nice. They got to stay in a hotel, and Eva got to hang around her friends without it seeming suspicious or like they were in an alliance.

• It's during this time that Noah and Izzy see how Alejandro's flirting was getting to Harold and saw the way this seemed to please the charming boy. Izzy is the one who guessed Harold and Leshawna were Alejandro's first targets. But over the two days, Harold had been getting on Noah's last nerve with how the dude always tried to correct something Noah said or debate the validity of whatever Noah said. Noah knows he's right each time because he legit can't forget information he takes in, so it just irritated him that Harold thought he knew more than him.

• It's not in an arrogant way, Noah is legit a genius with an eidetic memory. It's not that he thinks he's right. He knows he's right. The way Harold had been confronting him had him feeling overwhelmed and more than a little frustrated.

• Izzy is so ride or die she's prepared to throw Harold off the plane herself once they are told it's time to fly again, but Noah just got this look on his face before he smiled maniacally and Izzy knew he had a plan. Thankfully, he did, and over the days they were flying, Noah and Izzy made sure to talk up the cultural insensitivity of Chris and the show in Egypt. What with the costume and the way he didn't even learn about the culture.

• I do see Chris as Birdie coded from Glass Onion, so he genuinely doesn't see what he's doing as wrong or incorrect.

• Noah and Izzy were hoping Harold would be so annoying that he would get Chris so mad he sabotaged the team by giving them a disadvantage, or he annoyed his team so much they sent him home.

• No one knows they planned this. Not even the viewers because they don't apologize and confess in the confessional like in future eliminations. It looks like it was all Alejandro's fault, which looks great for them as they view his as competition/the enemy.

• They know because, look, Noah can put two and two together and a guy who was going to be on a show called Total Drama: Dirtbags has got to he bad news but also because he's the one who cast him in the show in the first place. He knows what he's capable of. But also because he's attracted to him, and he almost always found the bad guys in movies/shows to be really attractive.

hi guys heres my melvin dipp headcanons cuz i cant remember if i ever posted them. been accumulating them for a while now so ignore the poor quality its normally just me ranting whenever i had a thought

- originally tried out for the football but didn’t make it. instead, he joined the track team hence why ponyboy is his number 1 opp.

- brings up sergei whenever he can. “nobody even likes you melvin 😒😒” “SERGEI DOES. 😡” whenever he isn’t around he also accidentally mentions their inside jokes only to be met with pure silence while he laughs by himself… “ts wasnt even funny” “SERGEI IS THE ONYL 1 WHO GETS IT 😡😡😡😡”

- in modern day would be an ipad kid. blockblast brainrotted. bullies kids on fortnite squads gamechat. he tried to play COD but ended up crying when all the grown male adults bullied him in gamechat

- light freckles around his nose and cheeks (very few and VERY light)

- was gifted a pickup line book as a gag gift one year for his birthday… would use the cheesy lines on ace but SERIOUSLY. like hes leaning against the wall and mewwing just to say “if you were a fart, i’d clench you so hard to never let you go 😏” she stared at him in disgust.

- more outgoing/extroverted but this isn’t necessarily a good thing.

- MELVIN DIPP. i whole heartedly stand by melvin being trips younger brother. it’s the reason he tags along every now and then with the socs. seen by them sort of how steve sees ponyboy i’d assume like a tag-a-long. (Brie Leftwich is diaBOLICAL for leading people to believe melvin is chet’s little brother. that’s his OPP!)

- would have some weird fuck ass pet because his grandma doesn’t want fur everywhere. probably a bird or a gecko.

- melvin is actually dying to be like trip and his friends. he acts annoyed when his grandma makes him go out with trip (hands in pockets puffing out his cheeks WHY) but in reality he’s secretly excited. even if that means he’s just going to be either picked on or ignored the entire time.

- gumball waterson scream: full of voice cracks and high pitched yet hitting puberty scream

- trip when all he can see when he looks melvin is himself despite them being from different dads and looking nothijg alike. its his mannerisms and the way hes become to dependent on cigarettes to get him buzzed reminds trip of himself and alcohol 😴😴😴😴 sinilar bruises blooming over his ribs and cheeks a tell tale sign that hes been getting into fights he cant win 😴😴😴 worrying that the younger is gonna end up in the newspaper the next morning cuz hes digging himself a grave

- melvin has a lisp. he was born with it and did the public school speech classes which somewhat worked but his progress all went to waste cuz of his teeth. he had originally messed up teeth — not to bad but it was bad enough where he had to get it fixed. so when he got braces they literally FUCKED him over. being teased left and right by bob and the others, making fun of his mouth full of metal. not to mention his lisp was still lingering so it just added on. when he finally got them off, he thought he was free at last… little did he know he would have to wear a retainers at night so his teeth don’t revert back. HOWEVER. his grandma FORCES him to wear it ALL THE TIME cuz she’s so worried about all the money she put into those “pearly whites” going to waste. so he has a more noticeable lisp (than he already did because he had one growing up) because of the metal retainer. which, of course, the socs all poke fun at him for. especially when hes pissing them off.

- personally, i don’t think ace likes melvin back especially with the way tilly and melody make it out to be. it’s just like a teen boy crush (celebrity crush almost really in a sense), so he’s trying to hit her up and she just glares at him before turning away. he would definitely tell sergei about her though and how he finds her attractive.

- very set on ponyboy and melvin parallels. both on the track team, both strained relationship with their older brother, both no parents, etcetc. also both are CHRONIC smokers. but for different reasons. MELVIN IS NOT THE END OF THE CYCLE. (read dipp brothers lore in case you don’t know). sergei HATES when he smokes strictly because of the smell. it’s terrible and it always lingers on the blond’s clothing.

i really want to hear more about your headcanons...

Alright, I have no idea where to start so I’ll start with one I’m sorta hesitant to speak on, since a this one in particular is one that really is just me projecting, but I’m gonna post it anyway, just to get it out of the way. There is no way in hell Gaara doesn’t have some kind of Paranoid Disorder, AND I absolutely believe that the three main symptoms are stress or sleep deprived hallucinations, problems with eating, and fears or vulnerability (physically and emotionally).

I'll elaborate more in depth on these some other time (maybe), but for now, this post should suffice.

Starting with the hallucinations. Anyone under enough specific conditions can suddenly have their mind play tricks on them, regardless of any prior condition. Mental illness might make someone more susceptible to hallucinations, but anyone can have them if they have a particularly terrible few months, and Gaara has had quite some particularly terrible years. The stress of believing that there’s always someone out to get you (caused by someone ACTUALLY having been out to get you), combined with sleep deprivation and isolation, make very terrible conditions to be in, and that makes for perfect conditions to start experiencing things that are not happening. The headcanon here is that Gaara experiences primarily auditory hallucinations, with or without influence from Shukaku. Mostly noises that don’t quite come from any particular direction, but the occasional voice does chime in.

Problems trusting food or drink made or handled by others is something that primarily happens in public settings, the fear lies in the possibility that someone put something in there with malicious intentions. I imagine that after years of people trying to kill him, Gaara would most likely develop some skepticism regarding anything anyone ever tries to get him to eat or drink. Headcanon-wise, this is why I think he’s so scrawny and thin. (This specific headcanon also ties in to another one that I have, that being that Gaara knows enough about desert wildlife to be out there eating things that most people don’t like to think about eating.)

Fears of vulnerability in both physical and emotional ways. Physically getting hurt is bad enough, and the risk of being killed is always on the mind, any situation that could be dangerous is to be avoided, and anyone who can bypass whatever security you do have is an immediate threat. Getting hurt emotionally is a whole other beast entirely, you don’t need to know how to wield a weapon to cut out a piece of someone’s soul. Fears, doubts, ideals, hopes, all manner of thoughts filtered before letting them out to anyone, told carefully to a specific few people. There is always a possibility of someone seeing the parts of your soul that you’ve shown, and remembering them only to stab you there later. Knowing anything about Gaara lore should make it clear as to why this would be a thing. It’s a special kind of terrible to be hurt by the people who are supposed to love you.

Anyway, thoughts over. It took me like a day to get my thoughts in order, so I need to zone out and recharge my brain cells. I’ll elaborate more some other time maybe, and get into those nice and horrible specifics later! If you read all this, go drink water, get a snack, and think about an animal you like.

I'm gonna reblog myself now that it's not 6am and I've woken up a bit and try and to a better job of what I was attempting to communicate here.

it is not vague posting. it is addressed at an unnamed audience, just like you don't need to say "not all men" it's "not all fandom", I am expressing concern at what is certainly loud, and often seems a majority. as I also said in all of the other posts from this series, I say how it is as much the fault of the questions being curated as it is the people asking them, and how one behaviour feeds into the other.

I do not like you using the fires as an excuse for this latest episode, it is an issue that has been ongoing with 4SD and fireside and I have spoken on beforehand (and it feels kinda yucky to pick and choose which real world things to apply to forgiving programming or executive decisions or to back up your own pov, yes it makes sense but as I said, it falls flat as an argument for the series as a whole), and once again, if your whole beef with me here really is that you believe I am picking on your friend and not holding the people actually at fault accountable, then why bring the fires up in the first place?

it's happened a handful of times now where I have made a post or comment on something I either genuinely believe is bad behaviour or inadvertently harmful, or tried to give insight in what I believe is good etiquette or something that should be encouraged, and I've had people come for me like why are you calling me out like this, and I don't know what to say. that's not me gunning at you. that's not what I'm doing. if it triggers a response in you then that's something you need to sit with, and that's what I do if I see a post that addresses something that I do that maybe needs questioning. I don't need to lash out, defensively or otherwise. I do not like being told I am bullying people who I have only ever said nice things to. sorry you find my opinions annoying or disagree with them. for me fandom is community and that means differences but community also means accountability. if you think I'm crying over a small dumb thing, fine. but we are on the small dumb fandom website. changes start locally. that expands to everything.

if you want to say any more to me about this then you can message me, if my behaviour is upsetting for you then please block me. I acknowledge I can sound brash often, call that a failure of my grip on language. I assume the word selfish is what maybe set you off, but i do stand by that feeling, to take up time (and once again, as I've said many times, in the context of a campaign where people feel like they don't care as much about the characters for an assortment of reasons) asking a question that is at its very base asking for your headcanon/au to be validated or seeds to be planted for such, then yes, it is selfish (and allow me not to be vague here, I mean the dumb gender children question.) yes it's a silly complaint. yes it's just a show. yes they're all just trying to have fun. I'm just expressing why I think it does a disservice to the show, and that there are plenty of other spaces to engage with that sorta fantasy in (keep it in your word docs).

I shouldn't be surprised by the fireside chat being the state it was, seeing as I don't follow any CR themed blogs myself or really go into the tags because I find it frustrating but still, the bleed over of fanon is depressing and a lot of you are showing your asses in terms of how you don't actually gaf about the characters or the story the players have chosen to tell.

I love my au's, I love my headcanons, I love my not quite canon ships, but they're for me and the people who chose to enjoy them if they want to. and what makes creating those things more fulfilling is trying to really be true to the character it's about, otherwise just go play with OCs

this will be my last salty post on the matter (guess we'll see) but man, the timing? all of this crazy shit is going on, it is well established that the audience is frustrated with how little downtime we've had with these characters and getting to see those long rest bonds we got to enjoy with previous campaigns, 4SD is over, and that's what you wanna ask about? it's selfish, honestly.

Like Lucas and Dustin spent the first half of everything trying to woo Max into their friend group together, it wasn't until we get into the Upside Down stuff that they actually start having some conflict over them both having a crush on Max. probably i am the only person who cares about this but im such a big hater of the headcanon that sheriff sam isn’t from night vale.

like i kind of get it, i understand why one would come to that conclusion but it only makes sense on surface level. and i find it just ?? boring …?. because to me everything about sam’s mentality and the way they behave suggests that they’ve lived in night vale their entire life. they’re like an example of how badly the brainwashing and experience of an upbringing in night vale can just,, destroy ur sense of humanity and trust in other people. idk. like yeah they perpetuate the system but pretty much solely because of how it ended up effecting them specifically. the idea that they just come from somewhere else and just happen to be really weird and neurotic anyways is boring and genuinely serves no narrative purpose.

and also at that point in the story how does it make any logical sense that night vale would allow someone from out of town into that position?? one of the major plot conflicts of that year is focused on night vale’s distaste towards outsiders. come on. and narratively?? sam is meant to represent the sentiments of the majority of night vale at that time so WHY???? would they be from somewhere else????????????????????????

Remember when this video came out there were people who heard the voice at the end and thought the voice was either Sammy or the Ink Demon? Man, those were the days. However with all due respect, I'm glad neither case was right in the end lol.

On this day 5 years ago, "Unknown - April 14th" was posted on YouTube, which means it's been 5 damn years since we first heard from Wilson...

It's interesting to think that even though it's been 5 years, we've only known who Wilson really is for 2 years now (or more appropriately, 1 year and 5 months of those 5 years). Of course, now, after BATDR was released, we know who he is and what his place is in the Bendy universe. But between April 1, 2019 and November 1, 2022, all we knew about him was that he…existed. He was someone - someone bad apparently - who sounded old and who would have some relevance in the plot of Dark Revival. And that's it. We had no name, no appearance, nothing. He was someone, but we didn't know who.

It's no wonder he was only referred to as "Unknown" by fans during these 3 and a half years.

In the end, I would say that this drawing is a mix of 2 things. The first being the result of an idea I've had for a while, which is basically making a drawing in relation to the original video/"unknown" tape, but this time with Wilson, since now we know it was recorded by him. Plus it's been 5 years since the original upload,5 years of Wilson. I think this would be the perfect time to do this.

And second, a strange kind of redux/homage/"final chapter" in this kind of "collection" of drawings I did between 2019 and 2022 all based on the idea of "the unknown weirdo from BATDR saying How Very Interesting Such Knowledge" and so on. All of them having other characters in mind in the role of the Unknown. And now, here I am, redoing this idea again, only with The Man Himself this time. The real Unknown. Now as the Known, so to speak.

Going back to what I said before, you can see this drawing as a kind of farewell to this particular idea that I've kind of repeated over the years, as I've now done it again only with Wilson this time. (Does this mean I'll never draw this concept/line of thought again? I mean, I assume so. But there's no guarantee I can't make something similar again down the line. Who knows what the future holds. We will see what happens in the next 5 years.)

But,yeah. 5 years of Such Knowledge™.

What artistic skill does Izzy possess?

I think he has a lot of 'practical' artsy skills. he’s decent at sewing (mending your own clothes isn't just useful, it's almost a requirement at sea with limited possessions and resources) he's probably decent at braiding hair from having to splice rope- simply anything with roots in being useful I think he has done enough to be decent at by this point in his life.

Singing comes into this as well, holding a rhythm is important for certain sailing tasks, and while I think he can sing in ways that don't translate to shanties, I don't think he has utilised this in a long long time (so excited that we are apparently getting an Izzy singing scene in s2!!!! I need him to know he can have fun)

Another thing is I think he was a really good tattoo artist! I don't actually see him as having the creativity to come up with interesting and unique designs but I do think he is excellent at the act itself, and at copying requested designs. you need a swallow? an anchor? a ship? any common sailors tattoo? he can absolutely do it and it will probably be the best tattoo you have. it was always a mark of honour if you could convince him to do yours on the Queen Anne- he was very busy and didn't often do them, and definitely wouldn't do them if he didn't respect you. He's done a lot of Ed's 'quality' tattoos (though I think Ed also does a lot on himself), he's done tattoos for Fang, and Ivan, and he will do them for the rest of the kraken crew in the future. (he will even do one for Lucius one day, one of his own pieces of art as long as its not an Ed face or a dick. They understand each other now)

anything else? I don't know, I see him very much as, he won't let himself do things if they aren't practical. his canon whittling is as close as he gets and that's more of a 'thing to do with your hands while watching the deck' kind of thing. have knife will whittle

I think ultimately, Izzy doesn't let himself do things for himself. if you love something, if you have a soft spot, it can be targeted, taken away.

I do think he maybe dances though. He always plays it off as something Ed forces him to do when they're drunk/on shore but... he loves it- the motion; the reliance on another partner and the intimate understanding of exactly what they're gonna do next? I think he would love that actually.

I think dancing might be the one thing he always does for fun. He never lets himself have it, but if Ed demands a partner? Yes, of course, anything for his Captain.

(Ed always demands a partner. he likes dancing well enough but he likes seeing Izzy do it more- he knows Izzy will never do it on his own, he understands why, but Ed is Blackbeard. Nobody fucks with Blackbeard- and if he wants to dance? if he wants his first mate to dance? they're fucking dancing.)

but that's not the truth of the situation, really.

It always takes him a second to let his guard down, but he relaxes into it. He lets himself loose in a way Ed only sees when he's deep into the rhythm of a swordfight. And perhaps it's the same, to him- finding the flow of the battle, of the music. Feeling his partner, understanding them and being understood in return? It's all the same- but dancing is safe. Dancing is fun. In a swordfight there are stakes- and he loves the stakes, he loves that this thing that means everything to him matters, but sometimes, just sometimes, it really is nice to move like that in a way that doesn't matter.

And when they really get going- all twirls and jumps and frankly being a little ridiculous, Izzy laughs. A deep belly laugh, a kind of joy you didn't think was possible from him. But here he is, letting go at last. He laughs and he smiles and he feels such joy, the rest of the world melts away, and it is just him and his partner, dancing.

(later- much, much later, a man will play a battle song over their raids, a jaunty little tune that throws off everyone they fight against, and Izzy gets to dance, and fight, and feel free, unburdened by the weight that he's carried with him his whole life. They'll dance after too, and he will have finally found a place where he completely belongs)
