So sad to me that Lucas/Max/Dustin isn't a more popular ot3. Like Lucas and Dustin spent the first half of everything trying to woo Max into their friend group together, it wasn't until we get into the Upside Down stuff that they actually start having some conflict over them both having a crush on Max. I honestly think they would balance each other well too.

i do, but suddenly every ship i’ve ever enjoyed has fled from my mind.

i think my most, like, furthest from canon, crack ship is steve and kali (el’s sister). the two fanfics they have just hit so hard lmao.

does wlw stancy count as a rarepair lmao? nancy is a straight girl to me, but something about wlw stancy just hits different.

oh, stomarol also. forgot that’s probably considered a rarepair lol. it’s just so big in my circles.

i’m also actually obsessed with diane and dick (steve’s parents).

there are so many that, like, i enjoy coming up with hcs and au’s of and stuff like that, but that i don’t know if i’d go so far as to say i actively ship them. like dulumax is very fun to think about, both within the story and character-wise, but i don’t really ship any of the kids.

To me, all three members of Dulumax (Dustin/Lucas/Max) are bisexual, but they all have very different journeys to acceptance.

Lucas is a lot like how I picture Steve though, less slutty about it lol. There's probably some denial there, but he is the most aware that he is attracted to other guys. It's something that is percolating in the back of his mind for a while before he gets to the point of realizing he likes Dustin. Part of him also puts it off because it doesn't matter anyway when he has Max. (Never mind the fact that they're so on and off they could be a sitcom.)

Max is the most in denial about it. Has some weird internalized biphobia where she just refuses to consider it. Is totally fine with Lucas (and Dustin) being bi, didn't even really have any hang-ups about it, but for some reason she just can NOT compute it with herself. It takes her a while after to come to terms with it.

Dustin was the most oblivious about it. He didn't refuse to consider it beforehand, but just straight up didn't. He likes girls, he likes girls a lot, and that's that! So he is completely blindsided by the idea that he might have a crush on a guy? Has a crush on LUCAS? Also to him, Lucas is just the hottest guy in their age group. That's fact, that doesn't make him gay. (Well....) Once the seed is planted though he hits the ground running, trying to scientificate it. Has to run experiments and examine everything he did in the past like 5 years searching for answers.
