I have been re-binging the Sanders Sides series lately and I cannot stress enough how absolutely incredible it is; it genuinely is astounding how it manages to blend entertaining story with very real topics about mental health and self-love, and is all portrayed perfectly by one person doing a huge majority of the acting

Dan Drambles is currently posting a video daily for his Wholesome Halloween series. He did this twice in the past, and you can find those playlists on his channel. The first year was more focused on kitschy and campy movies, then the second year was all about slashers specifically. This year will feature horror in general, and so far I'm really enjoying it.

I have no ties to Dan or anything, this series is just what got me to finally watch some horror movies, and I think it's really cool of him to donate his ad revenue to Trans Lifeline for the month, so I figured I'd share his channel and if any of you decide to check it out your views will help get more money to charity

I don't think I have enough words to express just how much this little show healed something within me by treating all it's characters storylines with love and very human lenses, especially its main ones.

Between the traumatized man who we, as the audience, leave still sleeping in his closet because he's still healing, because he's not magically cured overnight, but we're shown he's getting better; and the deaf man who got reassured again and again that not being able to hear was not a flaw, that he didn't have to compensate for the things he couldn't control, this story keep on repeating that you will find love, friends, family, and it will be caring and patient and kind, and you won't be alone in your journey, as long as that is, because you don't have to prove anything or be anything else than yourself to find it, you just have to let yourself live it.

something i adore about nikolai's character is there's still something selfish about his moments of selflesness, and sometimes there's moments of cowardice in his bravery. he puts himself on the front lines of war with fjerda, and races towards the battle during the bombing of os alta because he won't ask his soldiers to take a risk he isn't willing to take, because he needs to do something, because he needs to feel like a privateer instead of a king again, and perhaps because of a desire to die in the place of someone he would otherwise have to send to die. but what happens to ravka if he dies? he's still risking his people because ravka becomes so much more vulnerable without a leader. it's wild that nikolai seems to find staying alive and safe to lead in the aftermath of trauma on a personal and national scale a much more terrifying prospect than dying honorably in a way that hopefully saves at least one other person, because neither he nor zoya can take one more loss. but he's also a ruler of an unstable nation, with no heir, and can't afford the luxury of being brave.
