have some fodder for your fic from just a few curated stories from my personal life:

in 2022 i partially tore four ligaments in my ankle while walking to work, continued to work after that because im a dumb bitch with a high pain tolerance (and i work a job that requires me to be on my feet), and then got ousted from my housing situation a few days later. so i moved myself into two temporary airbnbs and then finally my own apartment that was a 2nd floor walk up on at this point a pretty severely damaged ankle. its been three years and i still have daily chronic pain from this injury

in june of 2024 i gave myself a concussion by knocking my head into a bookshelf. it left me nauseous and dizzy and gave me migraines that made working agony, but i couldn't afford to take time off because i was about to go on leave for top surgery.

a month after the concussion, while i was still experiencing post concussion symptoms, i had to go off of my prescription anti-inflammatory medication in preparation for surgery. i have also been dealing with a wrist injury for 4 years or so that results in a ton of pain and swelling, so without my pain meds, i could barely even move my hand. it was *agony*

i got top surgery in august of 2024!!! i did not even care that i was in so much pain from the wrist injury that even the fucking narcotics i was on from surgery could barely water it down

i was feeling so on top of the world that i thought i could definitely make it to my friends birthday party at the ren faire two weeks post op. in the mid august heat. i nearly passed out and did manage to trip and fall, dislocating my left shoulder. still couldn't stop me i was so damn happy.

i did however develop a cold a few days later and coughing with a very freshly cut open chest was uhhhh an experience i'd love to not repeat. to add insult to injury, part of my incision got infected.

stuff has mostly been healing pretty good! but then two weeks ago i hit my head AGAIN. and i had just been getting over the initial concussion symptoms. so im back to the constant nausea and dizziness and headaches.

last night i was setting up for an event at work and a super heavy table FELL ON TOP OF ME, hitting my left shoulder. the same one that dislocated after i fell on it at the ren faire. i went to urgent care and they told me i seriously sprained it, causing some nerve damage. i will be traveling out of state in 4 days using non accessible train stations so im sure that will go well, given my track record. yeehaw.

if you do actually take any inspiration from this post for a fic i ask that you tag me so that i can derive some joy in seeing someone else get inspiration from my suffering
