I think about Regulus canonically being obsessed with Voldemort, and had news clippings of him all over his room so much.

He was obsessed with a cult and the cult reader. So like...he could be this weird, creepy, low-key fucked up, gothic kid. Borderline satanic or other evil deities worshipping too.

Is It Over Now?

Someone requested this a WHILE back and I wasn't in the mental space, but now I am so I present....Is It Over Now (Jegulus's Version).

It had been three weeks, four days, five hours, and two minutes.

Three weeks, four days, five hours, and two minutes since Regulus had left James. Said it wasn't going to work, refused to hear James's begging or reason. Insisted that it was for the best, even as tears streamed down his own face. Said that he had to become the Black Heir and James had to be the Golden Boy and they just couldn't be together. That they were a fling, and incompatible.

Three weeks, four days, five hours, and two minutes of seeing Regulus with other people.

Because as soon as Regulus had walked out of the door of the little flat that was supposed to be theirs (had he not left before moving in), he'd walked into the arms of someone else.

Well, multiple someone else-s.

James had seen them. All of the dark-haired, tan-skinned men that Regulus picked up in bars. Because he went to the bars, too. Watched.

But tonight, he had enough.

Regulus was on the dance floor, a tall man with black hair and fucking glasses leering at Regulus from behind, grasping at him roughly, making James almost growl with anger. Because Regulus deserved to be worshipped, not manhandled.

"Get the fuck off of him," he said loudly over the music, walking over and shoving the man backwards.

"What the fuck, James?" Regulus yelled, turning to look at him. "You've no right, it's over, I-"

"Over?!" James yelled, bass pounding around them, flashing lights making him squint. "You think so?"

"Yes!" Regulus yelled, but he grabbed James's wrist and hauled him out of the club to a back alley. "Yes," he repeated, only slightly quieter but twice as mad once they were in silence. "Enough. You have no say over who I'm with."

"Oh? But speaking about who you're with," James repeated furiously, just as loud, "All these men you're with- they look pretty damn familiar, don't you think?"

Regulus turned pink. "I-"

"So, 'It's over'? When was it over, Reg?" James asked, half-hysterical. "When you left me alone with no explanation? When you fucked the first bloke that looked like me on your couch? Because I know you did! Or how about when you looked at him while you fucked him and wanted to see me? Or maybe when you kept going out and looking for something better than us and found nothing?"

Regulus just stared, mouth open.

"Y'know," James continued, on a roll, tears falling down his cheeks "sometimes- sometimes I wish something would happen to me so you finally get your shit together and come back to me and finally tell me the reason you left is because you fucking love me and you were too afraid to SAY IT!" is voice cracked on the last few words, his heartbreak bleeding through the anger. Because he knew Regulus hadn't left him because he didn't love him.

It had been because he was scared. Scared of them. Scared of himself. Scared of being so vulnerable.

Regulus was still staring. He looked thoroughly shocked. Like he'd been electrocuted or something.

"It's not over," James whispered, taking a deep breath, hoping so much he was right. "Because you don't want it to be. Do you, Reggie?"

And it was like his words broke something in Regulus because all of a sudden, he was in James's arms, crying, his sobs only broken by apologies. "Was-trying-to-protect....was-scared....need-you..." he whimpered into James's chest, body shaking.

And James cried, too, but it was with relief. Relief that it was not over. "Come here, baby," he whispered, brining Regulus closer. "I love you," he said firmly, even as tears fell. "And you don't need to protect me or...or run from us. You're safe. I'm not going to leave you, Reg. I've got you."

Regulus only mumbled in his shirt, but James swore he heard an 'I love you' in there.

It was the one thing he'd been wanting to hear for three weeks, four days, five hours, and two minutes.

Regulus is all 3 in one; a jock, a goth, and a prep. this is why he is so sexy and why we all worship him so much. In this post I will explain why and how regulus is all 3 of these things at once.

Jock: Ok, I am pretty shocked by how much Jock is losing this tournament. Because I feel like Jock is a very obvious aspect of his personality? Goth: I already explained this in detail, but yes, Regulus is gothic, please read my post about it. I have seen some people say he cannot be gothic due to the origins of the goth movement but we are talking about the modern usage of the word "goth" a word to describe an aesthetic, if you saw regulus walking, you would be like, "whoa, who is that goth guy with the massive sexy ass?" the term goth has changed meanings over time, it refers to an aestehtic more than anything else. and also, I don't think you can try to say the standards of the muggle goth movement apply to wizards. I am using goth in an anachronistic sense; a modern person looking at regulus would say he is goth, and this has nothing to do with what goth meant at the time he was alive.

Prep: Well I don't need to explain this one since everyone Is already voting for it, but yes, regulus is 1. rich and 2. pretentious (see: the note he has on his bedroom door), so yes, I would say he is a prep.

So yes, he is all 3, goth, jock, and prep, which is part of what makes him so sexy, that he is able to encompass everything on this earth all at once, this is why I love him so.

Why do people like Lily? From what we've seen of her in the books she seems like a charming and good hearted person but also someone who is shallow, judgemental, a social climber, a classist and immature. Why do people make her out to be this feminist, kind hearted role model that is always morally above others and everyone likes her because she is oh so kind and great? It makes me cringe. From the text we can see that she had a black and white thinking, was shallow and probably self righeous, always thinking she's right and not being able to see the perspective of others. (We can see this in her interactions with Snape) So why do people love her? Do people really need a 'girl boss' in every fandom? There always seems to be one that's just made up by the fans. It looks like people just need a character they can point at and say "see we care about female characters, this one is oh so great, she can't do no wrong, worship her please." 🙄

Look, no offence, but... what? 'Shallow, classist, judgmental, social climber' what? Where are you getting this? Because she stopped being friends with a boy who literally called her a slur? Because she criticised that boy for defending and befriending people who were bigoted against people like herself? Like sorry but I think I'm entirely the wrong person to come to with this kind of thing. I fully disagree. I could not disagree more.

Black and white thinking? The opposite. Lily remained friends with someone who espoused the exact opposite of her beliefs for way too long. Not just her beliefs, but her right to exist. She tolerated Snape (and I do love him as a character, but still) way more than she should have, objectively speaking. That's the opposite of black and white. She was way too understanding, way too empathetic with him. She didn't judge Snape hard enough, in my opinion.

Nah, look idk what you were hoping with this ask but I'm sorry, I'm generally a staunch Lily defender and I heavily disagree with what you're saying. It's not that I think she's a perfect person, she certainly has her flaws like anyone. I don't think that she should be idealised, I think she should be given complexity like any character, but neither do I think she's classist (esp since she's meant to be working class) nor particularly judgmental nor shallow nor immature. I love Snape but he was terrible to her. He befriended people who wanted her dead. Lily didn't owe him anything, and her """righteousness""" as you say is not only entirely justified, but objectively speaking she should have dropped that bitch way earlier.

Why do people (including myself) love Lily? Because she was a good person. Because she was brave and decent and kind. She remained friends with Sev for years despite peer pressure and common sense and she defended him without hesitation. She dedicated her life to fighting for what was right. Lily is a good person. She's not inherently, morally above others, she's not perfect but she was a good, kind person, the way her son is a good, kind person.

Not that difficult to understand imo, unless you have way higher standards for male characters than female characters. Not everyone has to like or be interested in Lily but pretending she's somehow worse/less worthy of interest than Snape, James, Sirius, Regulus, etc (and I imagine you've got to be a fan of some of these marauders era characters if you're reading my blog) because she dropped a guy who wanted to join a fascist group that wanted her dead is absolutely ridiculous.

Lily is so kind and great. Her act of bravery and sacrifice is what kickstarts the entire HP series. Sorry. Like absolutely not, I completely disagree with you about Lily's character. People liking a female character doesn't mean that they have a shallow 'girl boss' approach to that character, and I find that a condescending explanation for why people like myself might be fans of Lily Evans. Maybe, and you perhaps should consider this, us fans of Lily just enjoy and are interested in female characters the exact same way we might be interested in male ones.

Regulus is trying to keep the tears at bay, but it’s hard when Sirius is looking at him like that, saying things like that. Even harder when there’s one person who comes to the forefront of his mind, who is definitely not Barty. He knows it, and Sirius knows it.

Regulus nods, trying to lighten the conversation by saying, “You realise you’re trying to push me right back into your best friend’s arms, right?”

“Yes, idiot. That’s the whole damn point,” Sirius laughs, before turning sincere again. “I know I used to joke about being grossed out by the two of you together, but it was all in good fun. You’re both miserable without each other.”

i dont exactly hate jegulus and jily in the context of the marauders fandom but here’s what i DO hate: james is treated like a fucking accessory in both of them.

james is my favorite character, and i hate when the bright, happy, innocent, strong characters get turned into one dimensional props.

whenever i see anything about jily in this fandom it’s just james being a stupid simp who only talks about how much he loves his wife.

whenever i see jegulus, it’s just james being regulus’ rescuer, the sun to regulus’ moon, the one who carries regulus around and worships him.

why can’t james just be a person. like- a fully fleshed out human person in ships without him turning into a walking trope that does nothing but serve the other character?

that’s why i like james x sirius and james x remus as much as i do, i think. the ships aren’t as popular so there aren’t a lot of people finding new ways to turn james into a stupid mindless happy-go-lucky perfect boyfriend cardboard cutout. also with james x sirius and james x remus, i feel like both remus and sirius are able to see through james. they know who he really is. all his gritty, nasty flaws. they SEE it. they don’t just view him as a savior. they see him for the person he is and still love him anyway. james doesn’t have to change himself in order to be loved by sirius or remus.

"Good book?" he asked as he approached, trying desperately not to seem awkward. He didn't usually approach men in cafes.

He expected the man to say no, of course. But he was surprised when he looked up and nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! God, it's great! And it's based on a true story! Have you read it?" His eyes sparkled behind his glasses as he asked, and Regulus felt his stomach swoop a bit.

"Yeah," the man nodded. "The main character, Arcturus? He really doesn't realize how much of a decent guy he is! And I just feel like he must know, at least a little!"

Regulus blinked, fighting to keep his mouth from popping open. Arcturus was based on himself. "Arcturus...he did a lot of bad things," he muttered, slowly sitting in the chair across from the man. "He...hurt people. Before he left his family."

"Right," the man nodded again, and Regulus felt almost disappointed at his agreement. But then he went on. "But...he learned, you know? And, don't spoil it for me, but, if his brother's a good guy, he's got to forgive him, right?"

Regulus sucked in a small breath. "I...well, I can't spoil it for you," he murmured.

"Well...he should," the man said, as if it decided the matter.

Regulus contemplated walking away for a moment. Keeping the whole thing a secret. The book, based off of his tumultuous childhood, his guilt at how he used to worship his parents, and his reconnection with Sirius when he'd finally gotten his head out of his arse, had been such a personal thing to create, that it felt insanely vulnerable to admit to this man that he'd written it.

But he was also drawn to him. To the man who saw him as good.

"Who's it by, again?" he asked, feigning ignorance.

"Erm..." the man flipped to the inside jacket, where Regulus knew his picture lay. "It's..." And then he looked up. "It's you?" he finished, looking awestruck.

Regulus chuckled wryly. "Sorry. I know you asked for no spoilers."

"You ruin everything you touch. Everything. You were the favorite son. You were always loved more. You made it in to Slytherin. They wanted you." Sirius was heaving, chest panting like he'd flown a hundred laps of the pitch. It couldn't be like this. Sirius had left and no one asked him to stay - not even his brother.

"It was never supposed to be like this." Regulus never knew how to uphold himself around his brother. He couldn't run because Sirius would follow. He couldn't hide because Sirius would find him. But that was then. And this was now.

Regulus didn't know why he sought out his brother. Why two years after being abandoned by the only person he truly believed loved him, he needed to see him. His guilt did not purify him. He hoped the mark to be gained would.

"You don't remember, do you?"

"Remember what?" Sirius' voice was dry, biting even.

"I was five. Mother had just crucio'd me for the first time." Regulus' eyes were dark and glazed over. "You told me something and I held on to it with two hands." Even after you left. Even after you left me. It goes unspoken.

Sirius stopped pacing. He stood so still, he might have stopped breathing.

Regulus wondered why of all the things to say, he chose this. Of all the arguments and the promises and words left unsaid, he chose to drip his blood into his brother's hands. He would've bathed Sirius in his blood if that cleansed them.

Regulus set his jaw. He wouldn't falter. His voice would not shake. "I will be the Son of the House of Black, but you, Regulus Arcturus…"

"…Shall be mine." Sirius' whisper was wet and shaky. "You, Regulus Arcturus shall be mine."

Regulus reached out to his brother's bowed head, cradled his jaw in hand, felt that shared warmth one final time. He dragged his thumb over his brother's temple. This was their goodbye. I worship in your temple, Sirius Black.

Regulus' footsteps echoed down the corridor. He did not look back.

GUYS- ok I honestly don’t even know lol

I feel like. If people hadn’t stolen Snape’s characteristics and given them to other characters like Sirius, Barty, Regulus, and even James- practically worshipping them for those stolen traits- but then completely dehumanizing and Villainizing Snape, removing those traits or making them seem like they’re just so undeniably wrong. That the marauders fandom could’ve been something so much better.

Snape does not deserve all the hate he gets within that fandom. However, I feel like. If you take away the characterization that belongs to Snape that was given to the others and come up with new characterizations for the Marauders- something original, not based off Snape. We could have a cool adventure story they seem to be wanting??

And I mean. If it’s an adventure story anyways. Why make them good people? That’s lame, overused, boring (at least to me). Keep the marauders as the bad guys. Keep their horrible canon personalities. Explore their bad traits! Don’t make them heroes, don’t make them good people. They’re not.

Maybe they get character development and improve during your story through shared experiences. That’s great! That would be amazing! But don’t right off the bat completely change them- making them basically into ocs.

What I think a lot of people may enjoy is some bad dudes hanging out. Going on adventures, breaking rules, stabbing people in the back, just being total jerks.

They sound horrible when I put it like that? GOOD. How fun would it be too see that? I mean. If adventurers are following the rules, the laws- are they really adventurers? They’re staying within reason. They’re not pushing the limits. They’re just. Normal, boring people that like to travel.

A lot of people like pirates. Pirates break the laws, they go on adventures, they can be real jerks, they can be horrible people- but they’re still well liked.

So, I feel like. If people had stuck to the original characterizations of the characters- explored it a little, made them worse by a lot or a little- focused on them breaking the rules and going on adventures similarly to how pirates do- (very important part here: WITHOUT VILLAINIZING SNAPE) we could’ve gotten a lot better fandom there. Now, I’m not saying everyone apart of that fandom is bad, I’ve met a couple people that were chill that were in that fandom. But, think of how much more interesting the stories could be if we focus on the bad traits of the Marauders.

You can still put random characters with them like Barry and Regulus- but tell us why and how through the stories, because realistically speaking, James would absolutely despise people like Regulus and Barty. Not because of their ideals- but because they’re slytherin.

Bad guys can be extremely interesting too! You don’t need to change the Marauders to make interesting enjoyable stories- it’s ok to like characters with horrible or questionable morals (as long as you don’t agree with them, if you agree with them… ehh.. maybe seek help-? I don’t know-!!)

BUT COME ON. Marauders being total jerks, bad people- but going on adventures. That’s interesting- and Snape? He can be his curious self. Suspicious of their actions. Maybe as he gets older he’d be apart of the law enforcement- who’s looking for the Marauders for their crimes, to make sure justice is served.

Y’all I don’t know- but I find this more interesting than whatever the current marauders stories are.

7. Hmmm… I think I don’t like Regulus because of fandom. I actually used to LOVE Regulus because the potential of him is actually great! But the characterization of him as a victim of Sirius’s neglect takes away all of his agency. I personally love oily, icky characters. He’s so “snitcher” coded. I would LOVE to see a redemption arc from him where he continually fucks up until he finally gets it right—like a much less cool/sympathetic Zuko.

16. I do NOT know why people make Sirius obsessed with Muggle rock music—particularly if he’s wearing their merch. It actually drives me crazy. First of all, Sirius Black isn’t going to do free advertising for anyone. Second, extremely private Sirius Black doesn’t care to broadcast his likes/dislikes, and good god, he’s not going to hero-worship anyone (except James Potter). If he likes Muggle music, he’s at LEAST a decade behind the trends. If he wears Muggle clothing, it’s based on practicality, particularly if he’s trying to blend in.

Also, I’m pretty sure he had short hair before Azkaban. Am I open to overgrown/I haven’t had a haircut in too long pre-Azkaban Sirius? Yes. Long-haired Sirius? No. I think he lets his hair get long when he’s depressed because he’s just not grooming or taking care of himself.

23. Dude. I still don’t like Wolfstar that much—mostly because there must be VERY PARTICULAR characterizations + situations that would compel me enough to ship them. I really do think they’re well-matched as friends, but I don’t care for them as an established couple. I also, mostly, don’t like the assumption that everyone ships them (I hate being told what to like!!!!!!!). Okay, and also, I did NOT want to ship Harry/Sirius. I really resisted it because I love Parent Sirius so much. But whatever, it’s hot. I am strong enough that I can separate Sirius the Dad and Sirius the Daddy.
