Any thoughts on the casting for The Last of Us season 2?
Oh god. So many.
So, I actually have all of TLOU show related tags blocked - because just seeing mentions of the show gets me kind of ticked. I miss the strike era when production of the show was delayed indefinitely.
But as far as the casting - I think Dina's casting is alright. I was one of those people who was naively hoping that Cascina would actually get to play Dina in the show, but I knew realistically that was never actually gonna happen.
Abby's casting however - I genuinely think that Kaitlyn Denver is a horrible choice. Like they looked up all the people who absolutely cannot play Abby and then they picked her.
Someone said that she looks like young Ellie - and I think for a long time, she was a popular fancast for Ellie. And to me, she looks like she can maybe only play young Abby in flashbacks. So unless they're gonna completely surprise people and only have her playing young Abby and then have someone else playing the real main timeline version of Abby - it won't work.
If you guys know me, then you know that I am incredibly protective of Abby's character. And based on the complete bastardization that they did of Season 1/TLOU 1, I already knew that they were going to royally fuck up Abby's character in some way.
And yes, I am basing most of my opinions on the fact that she is small and thin and Abby is supposed to be muscled, but people don't understand how pivotal that aesthetic is as a part of Abby's characterization.
(And they were never going to find someone perfect unless they used 2 different actors - one for flashbacks and one for the main timeline - because Abby gets ripped over years but it is shown in one short story, and her model was made with 2 different people - one for the face and one for the body, so they could keep her face on a younger, thinner body in flashbacks.)
Abby being muscled is actually a pivotal thing - it means she is feared and respected among the WLF, it means that Lev and Yara immediately fall in and trust to follow her through the woods because they view her as a protector when they are vulnerable and alone. Her body is a tool that is useful to her - it makes her completely immune to Isaac's violence right up until the moment she looks him in the eyes and asks him not to shoot Lev, and even then, he is asking her to step away from Lev so that he doesn't have to kill his best solider.
Isaac was more willing to kill Owen - thinking of Owen as disposable - than he was willing to kill Abby. And I think that breach of our society's typical sexism (where a man is always a better fighter, Abby supersedes that) in their post apocalyptic world, is really, truly shown by Abby's large stature.
Not only that, but it makes her physical malnutrition and how much she has wasted away because of the Rattlers that much more shocking. (Which, if they were going to depict that, it would be easy to do so with a heavily muscled actor and then make them look shockingly thin with CGI and makeup - but that scene is one of the reasons why video games are sometimes a better format. It being 100% computer generated means no actors had to be harmed during those scenes.)
Also (I wish I had screenshots of the specific lines) - but Abby and Owen's breakup at the Aquarium is about her training (her urge to gain muscle in order to aid of her long term revenge mission toward Joel) - Owen is surprised when Abby says she can bench press 140 pounds, and therefore, she can easily lift him. And Owen is insulted that Abby wants to spend more time training than she does with him - he is upset that her trauma and her revenge has overtaken her life to the point where she doesn't want to goof off watching spotted seals, and instead - just wants to train more.
And this leads more into the dynamic of - Owen is a disposable pawn (who pretends to take a pacifist stance when he's really a coward) and Abby has to vouch for his life with Isaac because she is infinitely more valued in the organization.
There is just a lot of layers to it - and they're already fucking it up.
I am trying my hardest to ignore the fact that she show exists, but it's actively lowering the IQ of the fandom every single day, and now I am gonna have to take braindead Abby takes from people who have only seen the show, and I genuinely wish it had never been made in the first place.

Ever since I was mildly horrified that Colin Firth is a fancast for Lisa Kleypas's Lord Westcliff (by Lisa herself which.... come on, you need to pick someone who is not hot and yet inexplicably super attractive because of his "vitality" or whatever, Lisa), I've come to realize people actually liken Westcliff to Mr. Darcy, and even call It Happened One Autumn a 'spicy" version of Pride and Prejudice which.... well, we won't get into that particular suggestion, buuuuut I do think likening Darcy to Westcliff is kind of a disservice to both characters (and calling it "spicy" Pride and Prejudice is a disservice to both texts).
For all that Westcliff is shown as this perfect paragon of aristocratic virtue, he's honestly.... kind of not. Apart from him and Darcy sharing a sense of duty and a degree of aristocratic snobbery (which, tbh, most aristocrats or gentlemen would have at the time), they really aren't all that similar personality-wise
Do I think the narrative about Darcy being a brooding borderline douchebag was pushed by by fans post-1995 Pride and Prejudice? Maybe. To a degree. But let's be real here, Westcliff comes way closer to being a dbag than Darcy ever does, particularly his hot-and-cold behavior with Lillian (the time he calls her an easy target for St. Vincent and then immediately pounces on her and fingers her in his butterfly garden comes to mind). Darcy's behavior towards Lizzy is fairly consistent; it's just, they both misinterpret one another's actions until the proposal makes everything clear. That's not to say they don't change their attitudes afterwards, but there was always civility at the least.
And I don't think Darcy is a super broody type, but he is definitely shy around people he doesn't know (awkward too), and seems like the type to socialize with a few close friends (like I'm convinced his only confidantes are Bingley, and then his own cousin Col. Fitzwilliam). Westcliff on the other hand displays no qualms about socializing in large groups, in fact, he seems to command a lot of attention in large group settings like balls and the big house parties he hosts (routinely, based on Secrets of a Summer Night, where he's described as an accomplished host).
I know it's hard to compare a text with on-page sex to a text that is much older and has no point of comparison, but there was this detail in Secrets of a Summer Night that stood out to me:
This is veering into headcanon territory but the more generous headcanon I have regarding Darcy's premarital sex life is largely "widows" and "older women" and that too... I imagine it's a limited number (otherwise, he's a virgin. or partially a virgin; that's my favorite). What I'd never think Darcy would do is "join in" with any village wenches in Lambton (a combination of his shyness and upper-class snobbery about socializing with the lower classes for fun). Nor do I think he'd he exhibitionist enough to do things with paramours at parties where friends could see him. Interestingly, in IHOA, Livia comments that Westcliff has had a few discreet affairs and nothing more, but between a secluded sister and a friend who routinely goes around town with him, I believe Simon Hunt lol; that being said Westcliff is deffo more of a society affair type than a sex worker/courtesan mistress type. To be clear, this isn't me judging Westcliff for having sex with a lot of women, it's just, again, for all that he outwardly behaves in a proper fashion, he really isn't, and has relatively relaxed views on propriety, even as he judges Lillian for her lack of it at first.
In his second proposal to Elizabeth, Darcy basically said he understands that "no means no", while Westcliff..... does not quite understand that.
Ways Westcliff is similar to Darcy:
They both are brought to their knees by women who initially don't fit within their notion of a "right" spouse. But that's such a broad trope, as is the fact that they both "save" their heroines in some sense.
There's a decent amount of language in P&P describing Darcy as a a fair-minded master and "liberal"; while I don't know enough to speculate on his actual politics (though I have read some pieces that suggest he might be, based on, among other things, the real-life figure Jane Austen may have named him after, the Earl Fitzwilliam), what we do know is that he's liberal in the sense of being a very involved master at his estate, liberal with money where his estate and tenants are involved. Basically, he's not stodgy and backwards, just like Westcliff is when it comes to his estate and tenants. Kleypas takes Westcliff's liberal attitudes a step further by aligning him with progressive causes and progressive politicians.
Look, both Westcliff and Darcy are classist to a degree; both initially balk at marrying women with connections to trade, but ultimately, they a) go ahead with marrying them anyway and b) we know they like to associate with people in trade in other ways. For example, Darcy and Bingley are good friends in the way that Westcliff and Simon Hunt are friends. Plus, we know Darcy gets on really well with Elizabeth's Aunt and Uncle Gardner (who are in trade), to the point that they're frequent visitors at Pemberley after their marriage. Basically, their snobbery is not universal.
Westcliff and Darcy are good to their siblings but even here, the actual sibling relationships are different. Westcliff is closer in age to both his sisters so their relationship is (mostly) noninterfering (tbh Westcliff exercises remarkable forbearance when McKenna returns) and Westcliff is less high-handed than I imagine Darcy is with Georgiana who, based on their age gap, likely regards him as a second father of sorts.

okay… so uh, this is new, considering i’ve never done stuff like this before, so… let’s do a fan cast, or well, my fan cast, some choices will probably be bias but I DONT CARE, I LOVE EM—
Note: I haven’t been in the muppet fandom for god knows how long, so if this is inaccurate in any way, you’re free to tweak this cast list to your liking, and… this is my opinion, feel free to change up your own cast lists to your liking and preferences! But, without further ado! (And inspired by one twitter post that I don’t want to scurry Twitter for especially since I don’t have it!)
MARSHIE’S (unofficial) MUPPET FANCAST OF ROCKY HORROR PICTURE BECAUSE MUPPETS HAVE CLOGGED THE BRAIN!
Brad & Janet - …Yeah, I’m not casting them as humans, not only because I don’t really like muppet x human stuff that comes up with that, but also the fact that i have a very funny idea for who will be the human choice… so… for them, i would have to go with Piggy & Kermit for these roles, and yes, as Brad & Janet respectively, it’s funny like that! Also I feel like it’ll spawn very funny scenes between them, especially with the… things in there, the very smexy things in there wink wink nudge nudge (even though it is adultery BUT COME ON—)
Dr. Frank N. Furter - I will be honest and say that, I was a biiit tongue tied on who to give this role to, I was going to give it to, shockingly, Floyd, because well, I like the bassman, and I have a bias towards him… but now I’m not so sure, I think the best option, besides Gonzo and Bunsen (I have all three saved for… other stuff). I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Dr. Teeth is a perfect fit for that mad role. I will not explain my reasoning other than the fact that it somehow fits, and I think him doing Sweet Transvestite would be absolutely hot and cool at the same time. Plus he just has… vibes of fitting this role to a T, so that’s why. :]
Riff-Raff - See, I told you I had someone saved for other stuff! Because this is the other stuff I’m talking about! Gonzo will be Riff-Raff, mostly because… that was mostly the popular choice for him besides Frank, and because, y’know, the thing with Magenta— you’ll get to see what I mean in the next section, but, needless to say, it is pretty obvious. (Also, i think a weirdo like Gonzo would take on the role, mayhaps to ‘expand his actorial skills and shine like a burning man in honey!’)
Magenta - Camilia. No debate on that, we can’t have Gonzo be all by his lonesome self and not have his girlfriend, no? Just.. a bit of a change though, I would probably change it to instead of Magenta being Riff-Raff’s sister, like in the original version, Gonzo and Camilia are probably romantically involved in this picture show, either engaged or just. dating is fine, wouldn’t mind any other way though! (Plus Camilla will kick ass in this fancast and i love that idea).
Columbia - Janice. okay let’s just get to the next one—
Eddie - OHOHOHO NOW THIS IS AN INTERESTING CASTING CHOICE! Originally, I was going to give this role to the obvious choice and the one that people answered to the most, that being Animal!… but, because of bias stuff and because I just… didn’t see it (yeah surprisingly, I didn’t fucking see the beast who wears leather jackets sometimes in the role of the only one who dresses like a biker boy), so, I thought of the other option, and while looking through it.. I decided to go with Floyd Pepper! Yeah, him!
Not only do I see it (and honestly, him wearing Eddie’s garb would make me, a Floyd Pepper lover, heart SWOON), but I can see Matt Vogel being an absolute powerhouse while singing ‘Hot Patootie’ as Floyd! Come on, look at his verses in ‘MAYHEM’ and (a bit of, mostly because he sings with a more slower and less chaotic timbre there) ‘We Are One’ and tell me that he cannot be bad at that song, because he couldn’t! Maybe just a bit of strain on the fast talking parts, sure, but I don’t doubt it. There’s also the fact that I also casted Dr. Teeth and Janice into Frank & Columbia and… definitely not for shippy reasons whatsoever, no siree, just ignore that fact and say that i just like them together—
Maybe it’s cause I’m admittedly a very big fan of the bassman, but I love this casting choice, and can see him being an absolute showstopper, even though he’s a minor character (also the mental image of Floyd being chased around by an axe wielding Dr. Teeth is very hilarious to me.)
Scott - insert that one interview of Animal and Floyd and Animal repeats the word ‘Scott!’ at the very beginning—
No, but in all seriousness, this one is hard, especially because I don’t want to seem like I’m casting a principal muppet member as a german bad person! I was originally going to go with Sam, but… y’know, I have him saved elsewhere (lies, he’s in here actually.), And… I came into a pickle, that being that… there are two roles that can fit this very easily, and nicely, and these two are… going to be explained in their own sections.
- Dr Bunsen & Beaker - Yeah, obvious reasoning out of the way, they’re scientists, they can pull off this role, and, like Jacob & Robert Marley in the Muppets Christmas Carol, will be a double pack… or maybe Bunsen/Beaker looking for their lost… friend(?), Bunsen/Beaker, whatever the case, it’ll be interesting, also rather funny if it’s a double pack, mayhaps Bunsen does more of the smarter moments while Beaker does more of Scott’s absentminded moments (something to do with Scott’s blindness? My brain is trying to rack it while not sounding ableist.). So, yeah, this is my first option… my second option… is very american
- Sam The Eagle - Yeah, this is just for the funny, but also the irony of a very patriotic eagle playing a german bound doctor is not lost on me, so… it’ll be hilarious, I won’t have him replicate the german accent though, as I just… want him to act the same patriotic way, so… yeah!
Now, why did I lump these two together, well… easy! I decided to work around the.. issue, because even though Muppets is decidedly mature, I don’t feel like I’m too educated on… that whole thing, to really portray the muppets as such, that and.. even though they’re actors, I rather not portray them as such and decided to not do so. So, here’s my idea: Bunsen & Beaker/Sam… is played by a human! Muppet men to be exact but just… an actual human!
Think about it, you come into this mansion, and you see the only glimpses of hope, and it’s a human, a constant reminder of how there is still hope for Kermit and Piggy to escape and be helped by someone, but then, the big reveal happens, Dr. Teeth storms on over to the human, and decloaks them! And that is when either Bunsen+Beaker or Sam is revealed to the audience! Probably a custom audience prompt will be used as well, now that I think about it— But, yeah, this is my premium choice for the human character! As for who would be the exact person playing the human? Uh… I havent thought of it, maybe Tim Curry? But I don’t know… yet.
Criminologist - Statler and Waldorf, come on! It’s hilarious! Plus… I like Statler and Waldorf having a more major role, and this was the option, do you think they’ll break the wall more often to heckle at the tale they’re telling? Or perhaps they heckle each other? Because it will be funny if they do so.
…I think that’s all! We got our main cast members down, and I got myself some cool ass imaginary scenes to make up for my head! I think now it’s time to— oh wait.
ROCKY HORROR - Okay, okay, so, this one is a bit more of a brain racker for me, mostly because I was tied between either making this a human or a muppet, but eventually, I settled on three choices, all of which are muppets, especially since the human is replaced with y’know who already, so, without a further ado!
- Animal - Hahahahha, do you think it’ll be funny if I made this sad in someway? Good because I will… so, what if I made Animal not just the ‘perfect man’, but also someone who was tangentially tied towards Frank, Columbia, &/or Eddie, considering they’re all casted as Electric Mayhem members. Maybe Animal was a past friend of either or maybe even all of those three members, and something happened and Animal died, can be silly, can be sad and dark, but whatever the case, it had caused everyone to try to not only make the perfect man, but also to bring their old friend back, but somewhere along the way, their whole morals were lost and well.. that’s how they ended up. (Probably caused some resentment against the Electric Mayhem in this play as a result, considering that he was grown to be a y’know what toy… or I can just rewrite that purpose into something else, like wanting to bring some epic jams to the whole entire castle or something!) Or just… the general reason of him being ‘the perfect man’ is more than enough! I don’t know! Otherwise, the casting for that video from that Rocky Horror Muppets video inspired me.
- Link Hogthrob - Don’t think I need to explain this one.
- Sweetums- Okay, okay, so, what if the perfect man was this utter buffoon and monstrous, it would be peak comedy.
Alright, and that’s really all for casting! Now, before I go with my extra HCs regarding this play, let’s go over the minor characters quickly.
The Usherette - Walter? Has to be, now, it could be Camilia, I’m not denying that, but come on, Usherette’s whole gimmick is loving B-movies, somewhat like what Walter’s main gimmick is.
Ralph & Betty - Rowlf and Annie Sue. Perfect parallels, bonus points for Piggy thinking Annie Sue is stealing her role as Janet, and Kermit has to break the fourth wall to hurriedly clarify that this wasn’t the case and that he won’t be on the receiving end of an actual karate chop from Piggy
Transylvanias - Basically everyone I haven’t mentioned, maybe even Constantine can make an appearance, but I’ll touch more on that in the HCs section.
Before you ask, no, i’ll not be making one for Shock Treatment, unless people really want me to, but with that said, that’s all for the fan casts! Now, onto some light trivia on what I would love to see in this hypothetical movie!
- Electric Mayhem covers of all of the songs, all throughout, even when the Electric Mayhem is going down one by one and is supposed to be dead, they won’t hesitate to provide the backing tracks. Bonus points if you can see them in the back, and/or if someone points out that someone is supposed to be dead, and the electric mayhem just comes up with the most batshit excuse.
- “Aren’t you guys supposed to be dead?!”
- “Yeah, man. But the boogie of these songs are magicilious!”
- Small bits of backstage or behind the curtains, one of which is in which Animal has to be comforted by Floyd when Animal began almost sobbing when Floyd was (fake) killed (or almost bulldozing Teeth because of that…)
- Other behind the curtain bits are Kermit holding back Ms. Piggy after a scene, or Fozzie trying to get a major role in the picture show and just being shut down by the criminologists.
- No one knew what kind of costumes the others would be wearing, they just knew their characters, and scripts, and were given their own costumes and was told by someone (Kermit and maaaybe Deadly) to keep them a surprise from the others.
- Cue the Electric Mayhem almost gawking at the sight of Dr. Teeth doing drag.
- But seriously everyone fucking applauded Deadly for the fashion work after the stage show i just know it
- Constantine will be a very recurring cameo, sneaking onto the show to take over the muppets once again and hoping to be more than just a weakling to the eyes of the audience (and the muppets), but just ends up vibing along to the song, by then the moment he is kicked out, he actually wants back in, but insists it’s only for world domination of the play.
- Same for Lips & Zoot, don’t ask why, but I like the idea that considering they’re the only two of the EM that don’t get major roles, that they sometimes just intrude in and just improvise or observe the actions of the others.
- In general though, besides the recurring cameos, i would love to have different cameos from even the original or even the remake Rocky Horror shows, or just random cameos in general!
- AUDIENCE PROMPTS!! Only some of them will be changed to fit more of the adult yet kid friendly sort of style, like whenever Piggy is shown, it won’t be the s-word, it’ll be something like ‘PIG!’, it goes to the point that Floyd is just. heard on the right side of your ear screaming that word whenever Piggy is shown or even speaks, and Kermit has to stop her from literally throat chopping the bassman.
- LOTS of cultural and meta references with this as well, we have behind the curtain segments for this reason.
- Still going to keep a lot of the mature themes for the muppets, it’s what Jim Henson would’ve wanted… maybe not the nazi parts though or the rapey parts or the transphobic parts, I feel uncomfortable with that.
Aaand that’s all! If you have any suggestions, please feel free to reblog and share your own opinions! See ya!

Hi!! I just started American Queen by SS and I was wondering if you had any fancasts for our wonderful throuple?
OOoh, congrats because that series... ugh yes. I just ordered paper copies of the trilogy!
That's hard for me because I generally have a hard time with... seeing people hot enough to play the fictional characters in my head? Especially men. Take from that what you will lol.
Elle Fanning has been a Greer Galloway girly for me, though, because a) Elle is an amazing actress, and I think that in a hypothetical world where this could ever be adapted in live action form Greer would need someone who can capture like, frosty poise AND emotional vulnerability and extreme horniness, which, uh, check out The Great starring Elle Fanning, she's a superb actress b) aesthetically Elle can very easily read as very "ladies who lunch" All American Blue Blood to me.
And I mean. If Elle is Greer, why not cast Nick Hoult as Embry Moore? Tall? Check. Dark-haired? Check. Blue-eyed? Check. Handsome in a very "Prince Charming But Maybe He Has a Dark Side" kind of way? Check. IT'S NICK HOULT. And he already has experience with playing a spoiled brat in love with Elle Fanning, so.
HOWEVER. I also would say that another person who SCREAMS Embry Moore to me is Austin Butler. More so than Nick, probably. Again, beautiful, perfect eyes, has the ability to broadcast natural tragedy, a face someone would ruin their own life over. I can see him forlornly making popcorn garlands while wanting to fuck and be fucked by President Sexy and First Lady Fuck Me Harder.
Ash. Lmao. Anyone's guess, babyyyy
Ash is the most difficult to me because he's the least accessible of the three (and that's not a critique, I think it was very much intentional) and perhaps the least... morally complex? I love Ash. Ash is also my least favorite of the triad because he's ultimately a really good person who doesn't always do the right thing and is plagued by that. I find Greer's natural desire for All Of It and Embry's all-consuming envy and guilt over that to be more relatable. (Embry is one of my all-time favorite romance characters, regardless of gender, because he's both so jealous and so AWARE and so IN LOVE that he just ends up being twisted up in knots.) It would be really hard to play Ash and make him human, you know?

wait thats embarrassingjsvoejdfkjd i actually didnt confuse the two actors because they look alike (although they do i cant tell white people apart) its because i had been seeing BOTH bomer and guy-from-suits as fancasts for him. so sorry!
but like, i totally get what you mean, alot of these actors go to easily in one direction, whether its their fault or the script. I dont really agree with the praise pattis0n gets with his portrayal anymore because hes so like, emotionally obtuse it begins to stray from being sympathetic or understandable it just makes him look like hes a dickhead on purpose and the only thing it accomplishes is it serves to piss me off lmao. I do agree with you on affleck, hes probably the best we had so far. But i also think val kilmer did okay with. what he was given? if this were a ranking id put him in like second or third place imo
but on that hand, thats sort of why i adore the model they created for telltale batman. I know this is straying away from the discussion because its not like, a live action actor, but i love his face model. perfect mix of like someone who could be seen as a charming playboy, a doe-eyed lover and someone with his heart on his sleeve but also unassuming and stoic when needed. lol.
and that thing you mentioned about the decade long film concept sounds interesting but it doesnt sound like something superhero companies are willing to do. like that requires alot of planning, care and consideration and most of all time because they would be aging in real time. but companies need things done STAT because $$$$$. its a shame the new franchise is starting with damian because were yet again getting an older batman, i wouldve loved a movie about early years young bruce and dick. (and side note, i believe gunn had said he wanted him and supes to be similar in age, but he also wants damian robin? how does that work? what is he cooking oml)
i have a talia mutual who also swears by the val kilmer version so i will definitely try to watch it soon, you have me so intrigued! and omg when you say telltale batman do you mean troy baker. that's so strange for me to wrap my head around bc i know him as sam from uncharted but i've also never watched the telltale batman cutscenes so maybe i need to do that too 🧐 i feel like when i look at him i see oliver more but that might also be bc of the color of his hair and the mustachejgkjdflhdf
#and yeah i def agree about the decade long film concept it's like delusional fantasy but nonetheless i love it dearly in theory lol#also am with you on the gunn stuff i have no idea what he wants to accomplish and i'm scared lmao#outbox

Who should play Batman in the DCU?
This is a question that I think no one really wants to answer.
After the success of Matt Reeves The Batman, Michael Keatons return to the role, Kevin Conroy's Death, and Ben Affleck leaving it, I think it is safe to say people have had enough Batman, and enough good takes of the character.
Even so, Andy Muschetti is currently set to direct The DCU's Brave and the Bold, which will show a new Batman, now older and with his son, Damian Wayne.
Recently a popular fancast surfaced of John Krasinski for the role, to some fans love and some fans dismay.
Personally, I don't think he was suited for Reed or for Bruce. I can see him more as a Green Lantern. But this did get my wheels turning, hopefully to do better. And I got some picks. But first, we need to answer a few questions.
What live action versions are we pulling from?
We want to pull key elements from different versions, but there are so many iterations Jesus.
I am not going to go into all of them, I'll stick with 3. But know that I am a fan of most iterations of The Batman.
Ben Affleck
Love him or hate him, Ben Affleck's Batman was memorable. Personally he has a lot of things I want to incorporate into our DCU Batman. For one, he is our older Batman. Our actor should be similar aged to Ben.
He is also a complete unit. After being Batman for so long, he has had to make himself more of a unit in order to properly take out foes.
This is also the best voice, suit, and fighting style I've seen for a live action Batman. The voice modulator works wonders.
I think Ben had a presence that made it clear he was a leader of the team, if not Thee leader. I want our Bruce to feel the same.
Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson is a little weirdo. And I mean that in the best way.
This was the first time I think it was properly shown how uncomfortable it might be to be around such a presence as Batman. He is fear personified, and working with someone like that can and should be awkward.
Pattinson also took being Batman way too seriously, our Bruce should do the same. Batman's a religion to Bruce.
We need someone who can be a middle ground between these two as Batman.
Christian Bale
While those two perfected Batman, no one has done Bruce Wayne better than Bale.
Bale by far did the act of Bruce Wayne most convincingly. It is one of my favorite aspects of his films. We need someone who can pull off charming douchebag when needed, but slip back into dark loner.
Bale was also funny in a way Batman hasn't been in awhile. We need someone when comfortable be able to joke with Clark.
You can see why casting a Batman can be extremely difficult. Balancing all these characteristics are crucial to making it work.
What ethnicity is Bruce Wayne?
All iterations of Batman have been white.
Now, is there value in making him another ethnicity? Maybe. Making him a person of color could be part of why he doesn't trust the police and takes matters into his own hands. Perhaps maybe his parents being new money is why they are killed. Who is to say?
For now, I will say Batman can be any ethnicity.
Other Stipulations
The DCU Batman is confirmed to have a son, Damian Wayne. Assuming he has already raised Dick Grayson, Tim Drake and Jason Todd is already dead, this Batman has to be in their 50s. We're looking for an older actor.
George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson and Ben Affleck have all taken up the role, meaning we need a name. Someone who immediately you know, whether you like it or not. But we also need someone surprising.
We need someone who we can see doing this for awhile. At least 5-8 years. The DCU is just starting, so someone with longevity is a must.
He should probably be tall.
Finally, as always, someone not known for past superhero roles. Let's begin.
3. Jamie Dornan
Jamie Dornan may be the safest and most controversial choice for The Batman.
Like Pattinson before him, Dornan is known for playing the love interest in some pretty bad movies, but since has made a career for himself full of wins. Projects like Belfast, Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar and the Tourist proves Dornan has the acting chops for it.
He is a little younger than we would like, but he can play older, and looks a lot like a classic Bruce Wayne.
I have two main concerns for Dornan. One, would he be better off as a villain? In the DCU, he may make a fantastic Gotham City villain like Harvey Dent. But in the MCU, does he have the making of a fantastic Doctor Doom? I think so.
Finally, the character he plays in Fifty Shades of Grey is BASED on Edward Cullen, who was played by Robert Pattinson, our current Batman. The comparisons will be built in from the beginning, and we something fresh.
I think Dornan can kill it, but there's too much against him for him to be my main pick.
2. Bradley Cooper
Now I know what you're thinking, he's Rocket Raccoon!
Yes he is, but the Guardians movies are now finished. And unlike his teammates, Cooper doesn't really show his face when playing the character. In a way, he is oddly detached from Marvel.
He has also worked with James Gunn before, is currently producing Joker: Folie a Deux, and has an incredible career to back up him as a pick.
From American Sniper to Nightmare Alley to A Star is Born, Cooper consistently delivers. He can do suave, he can do loner, he can do troubled, and he can do comedy. I think he could be a spiritual successor to someone like Ben Affleck, and lead the Justice League in a way that feels natural.
He'd also be useful behind the camera, as he was the director of A Star is Born.
My biggest concern with Cooper is whether he would want to do it. One of the benefits of playing a raccoon is you get to work from a booth for maybe a few hours and you're done. This would be a commitment.
There also comes the question of whether Cooper is bigger than the role. We want people to be lost in the story, so finding an actor who convincingly be Batman is crucial. Cooper might be just a little too big for this.
Of my three, I think Cooper is the most likely to land the role, and that may be for the best.
1. Alexander Skarsgård
If we're looking for a surprising pick, with range, physicality, a name that is big but not bigger than the role, I give you: Alexander Skarsgård.
Known for roles in The Stand, Succession, The Northman and Infinity Pool, Skarsgård is one of those actors who is often forgotten but people are excited to see when he pops up.
He is a dramatic actor who can do funny, scary, and anything in between. He's played fantasy characters in The Stand, a billionaire asshole in Succession, and a warrior in The Northman, all praised. He has all the making of a great Batman.
He is classically handsome, and at 6'3, 46 years old, he is just in the age range we're looking for, and towers over most heroes.
He doesn't feel like any other Batman before him either, which will help us stay away from those comparison conversations.
I don't think there really is a perfect answer as to who should be the next Batman. But of all my options, Skarsgård makes the most sense. I could see him and David Corenswet leading the league for years to come.

Imagine, if you will, a reboot of The Lost Room, as a full series with all intended content and maybe a couple more seasons. That's what I've been doing with my weekend -- imagining that, I mean; and also fancasting it because why not.
Doing some character analysis as well so there will be some spoilers. Go watch Lost Room.
Note I'm not super familiar with current TV, the most current thing I've watched was Poker Face, so my pool is limited and I'm open to other suggestions.
Probably won't matter but I'm imagining this still set in the early 2000s, because I choose to and because working modern social media into the story sounds like a headache.
Without further ado, fancasting.
Joe Miller
Original Actor: Peter Krause
Our main man, Joe. Joe Miller is competent, not book-smart but picks up on things fast -- he's an audience stand-in for a smart audience. Yes, he's a cop, but he's fictional so we won't hold that against him. He's the loving single father of a bright eight-year-old girl, whose disappearance becomes his main driving force. Violence is rarely his first resort, and he gets as far as he does often by just talking to people and asking them for help.
Joe has to be curious, charismatic, a little charmingly naive, occasionally intimidating, and deliver the extreme emotions of a man who would absolutely rip the world apart if it would get him his daughter back.
Fancast: David Castañeda
(Listen I told you up front that my most current watch was Poker Face. You were warned.)
I promise I'm not just fancasting Castañeda because he plays one of my favorite tough-yet-pathetic sadboys, Diego Hargreeves.
I am fancasting him because he is incredibly good at having eyes, and I genuinely think he would crush it as every aspect of Joe: The smart detective, the naive newcomer to a strange world, the grieving but determined father, the subdued rage facing Weasel and Ruber.
He'd bring a different vibe, sure, but what's the point of a reboot if you don't do something a little different with it?
Wally Jabrowski
Original Actor: Peter Jacobson
Wally is described by the showrunner (...somewhere, I swear, I think it was a reddit AMA but I can't find it now) as being a sort of chaotic neutral trickster figure. He's a weird little imp who wanders the countryside, consigning people to Hell (New Mexico) for any perceived slight. Joe manages to get on his good side using the Key and some sheer determination, so Wally helps him out and ends up becoming his first ally in the world of Objects. How does Wally know so much? Who knows. He's there to dispense key lore to our hapless hero, not talk about himself.
Wally keeps on helping Joe right up until it starts to jeopardize his own safety and comfort, at which point he backs out, because he is ultimately out for number one -- but he sticks his neck out pretty far for Joe before he hits that point.
The actor for Wally needs to be able to sell that gremlin energy, the self-centeredness undercut by a genuine friendship with this guy who refused to stay gone.
Fancast: Natasha Lyonne
Wait no stop hear me out. Listen. Am I biased because, as already mentioned several times, I just finished watching Poker Face? Absolutely. BUT. Tell me to my face that Natasha Lyonne does not have the perfect chaotic neutral gremlin energy to play Wally. Imagine the diner scene with her. Run any of Wally's lines through her charmingly fried voice. She's perfect.
You wouldn't even have to change the name, just some pronouns. Yeah, her name is Wally. Is it short for something? Maybe. Doesn't matter. Enjoy Hell.
The only further casting choice that I'm confident in is--
Suzie Kang
Original Actor: Margaret Cho
Suzie Kang is an information broker. She can dig up information about Objects in a flash and will sell that information to whoever is buying -- although she doesn't come cheap. She never touches the Objects herself, though. She's smarter than that.
Kang is a self-assured businesswoman who knows what's what and has carved her place into it. She has no interest in morality and actively refuses to work with the Legion given that they keep removing Objects from circulation. She'll happily upcharge if you seem new, or desperate, or if she knows you're good for it.
Fancast: Stephanie Hsu
'Did you just cast everyone from the shit mountain episode' SHUT UP
Stephanie Hsu was amazing in EEAAO and, yes, Poker Face, and I think she'd pull off Suzie Kang's amoral self-confidence really well, not to mention Kang's teenage mall-goth sense of style. I can see her delivering the unironic "Those things'll kill you" line with the cigarette burning in her fingers, and that's important.
I'm not settled on any of my other casting choices, but I have ideas for a couple more.
Howard "The Weasel" Montague
Original Actor: Robert Bart
The Weasel is my favorite character in this show and he is such a specific kind of endearingly pathetic little bastard man that casting him is tricky.
Howard Montague is an ex philosophy professor turned small-time criminal and Object hunter, whose main goal is to find the Prime Object, for unknown purposes. He's the first villain we see and kind of sets the tone for the series with his cocksure attitude and unhesitating, physics-defying double homicide. Weasel isn't dumb, but thinks he's smarter than he is, and has a hard time letting go of ideas he's sure of -- contrasting with Joe's ability to think outside the box.
He's vicious in the way that a little dog is vicious, he will bite but he needs the confidence of a weapon like the Pen to pull off any kind of intimidation, otherwise he's kind of just adorable.
He's also just... made to be a henchman. He falls into working alongside Joe so easily when they hit Kreutzfeld's, this man should not be in a leadership position, he is made to be right-hand man. (I have... many headcanons about this, but I will stick with canon for this post.)
Finding someone to fit this specific concept has been difficult, but here's some of the candidates I've considered (and why they do and don't fit the bill).
Potential Fancast: Aidan Gallagher
Back to casting from TUA. Aidan Gallagher as Five proved that he can absolutely play a weird vicious little man who thinks he's the smartest person in the room and you kinda want to punch him for it. The reversed dynamic with his and Castañeda's characters would be entertaining. Unfortunately Gallagher is nowhere near old enough to be an ex professor, not to mention Joe throwing around someone that much younger would have a much worse vibe.
(Gallagher would be great as a longtime Object user, though. Consider him as Harold Stritzke, perhaps.)
Potential Fancast: Con O'Neill
Izzy Hands from OFMD is another favorite pathetic little bastard man and O'Neill could definitely pull it off. I'd buy him as a philosophy prof, too. The problem is... Con O'Neill is intimidating. I buy that he would murder someone, but he would not need the Pen to do it. (As my boyfriend agreed, "he'd just use a regular pen.")
Potential Fancast: Aldis Hodge
Hodge has the least 'weird little guy' energy here, but his role as Hardison in Leverage proves that he can pull that off. Philosophy professor, sure. Small-time criminal, sure. Smart, but not quite as smart as he thinks he is, sure. My hesitation here is that I don't think I've ever seen Hodge vicious. I struggle to see him committing a casual murder, and that's a pretty important part of the character.
Ah, well. I will think further on it.
Karl Kreutzfeld
Original Actor: Kevin Pollack
Karl Kreutzfeld is a wealthy man, an ex member of the Legion, who began collecting Objects and has amassed a pretty impressive collection. He still needs more, though, with the particular goal of the Eye -- which he needs to cure his beloved son Isaac's leukemia. It's obvious from pretty early on that he's not a good man, but his goals seem reasonable, and he and Joe strike up an alliance over their apparently shared goal of saving their children. What's a little burglary and attempted murder between friends?
Spoilers, but if you've gotten this far into a Lost Room post you know or don't care: Karl is the Big Bad. His son has been dead for some years, and he wants specific Objects not to heal him but to rewrite the universe to bring him back. And if that breaks the universe in the process -- so be it.
Karl serves as a sort of dark mirror to Joe. They're both fathers driven to extremes to protect their children. Joe at one point says that he would break the world to get his daughter back -- Karl has the money, resources, and ruthlessness to actually do it.
Karl can be played by someone who usually plays villains, because him being a bad guy is not a particular surprise. It's the depth to which he is willing to go that comes out of left field and leaves you (and Joe) reeling. Until that twist comes out, though, he has to be ruthless but also charming, a loving father, and someone Joe would reasonably trust despite all evidence otherwise. Someone Joe could physically push around is also ideal, given the kidnapping scene.
I had trouble with fancasting this one, but I really like my bf's suggestion.
Potential Fancast: Giancarlo Esposito
Now, I haven't seen Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul (look, I'll get to it) but I know Esposito by reputation (and by his role in Abigail, which was great). He might be a little too big for a weird genre show these days, but goddamn if he wouldn't kill it as Karl.
I don't have specific ideas for the rest of the cast, unfortunately.
Jennifer Bloom
Original Actor: Julianna Margulies
Jennifer Bloom is in product development for a cereal company, whatever that means, but we never see her at her day job (I somehow got the idea she was in real estate, not that it matters either way.) More importantly, she's a Legion member, one of the two that are ever named (counting Arjun, not counting Karl or Marco). She genuinely believes in the Legion's goals of removing the Objects from circulation, having seen firsthand how they drove her brother insane. Jennifer's goals are loftier than Joe's and she has a little bit of that 'ends justify the means' mentality, but not such that she's willing to hurt him over it, or even refuse him information when he needs it. She's not above a little subterfuge, though. There are hints that she has a temper, and that she's a little more vicious than she lets on (with a particular hatred for betrayal, real or perceived), but those traits don't show through often. She believes in the Legion's code against killing and is strongly affected when she's forced to kill in self-defense, but later when shit goes down with Karl she doesn't hesitate and even has a little quip to go with it.
It might just be me, having rewatched the series too many times, but a few watches in I got the vibe that she was supposed to be a red herring -- that we the audience (or possibly Joe) are meant to think she is slipping information to Karl. She's not, but there's a few scenes where you could get that idea. Hitting a little harder on that could introduce some good conflict and foreshadow the actual mole more.
Should this reboot be a continuing series, Jennifer would have a lot to reckon with in the aftermath of the last episode. Her high-and-mighty organization was sold out, most of them are dead, she's attempted murder, and her boyfriend Santa Claus'd himself into semi-godhood.
Who would play her? No idea. There's a lot of great actors out there who could play this part well. The most important elements, I think, are chemistry with Joe and the emotional depth to show how well she is -- or isn't -- handling her world getting turned upside-down.
Dr Martin Ruber
Original Actor: Dennis Christopher
(Sidenote, finding a picture of this guy was so hard, wtf)
Ah, him. This motherfucker. What a tool.
A forensic scientist, Ruber is initially friendly with our detectives, banters with Lou and Joe, and tries to protect Joe. In the meantime, however, his curiosity leads to him seeking out the Objects, and very quickly dives headlong into obsession before he's even directly interacted with one.
Initially unassuming, witty, kind of mousy, Ruber quickly becomes unhinged enough to kill Lou over the Key. Failing to take it, he sets another man on fire to join the Order, and then backstabs them when he has another chance at the Key. By the end of the series he's well on his way to becoming a full-on cult leader with delusions of prophet-hood, handily setting him up as the next Big Bad after Karl.
A fun role for whoever plays this guy, but no idea who that ought to be.
Anna Miller
Original Actor: Elle Fanning
Anna is a bright eight-year-old girl whose first instinct when presented with a magic door is to throw things in there and see what happens. She also has a beloved stuffed animal named Lester Boneyfish. The kid is a born scientist.
She gets kidnapped and then spends most of the series stuck in the Room, so mostly you need a child actor with good delivery and a decent scream. In a continuing series she might be called on to do more, but as is she could be played by anyone.
(I can NOT find good pictures of any of these other characters and Tubi doesn't allow screenshots, might edit something in later but for now you'll have to take my word for it. Or go watch Lost Room.)
Lou Destefano
Original Actor: Chris Bauer
Joe's partner, a good friend who's encouraging him through his custody issues and tries to keep him and Anna happy and occupied. The only person Joe reveals the Key to, and reacts to it well. A great guy all around. Shame he dies at the end of the first episode.
Since he's the first one to die, he should probably be a white guy. He could be played by a bigger-name actor, too, since he'll only be there for a small part. Otherwise, no ideas.
Lee Bridgewater
Original Actor: April Grace
Another Philly detective. Lee has daughters of her own and is friendly with Joe and Anna. When the two of them disappear, Lee points out how bad it looks for Joe, but Lou still suggests her as the first person they reveal the Key to. She's got a good head on her shoulders and doesn't freak out about things. After Lou's murder, she's the first to be skeptical about Ruber's story.
Joe tries to keep her out of all this, even when she arrests him, but that goes down the drain when Ruber hits her with the Cards. From that point on Lee suffers from contextless nightmares about the Motel. She goes after Ruber and fully would have shot him if he hadn't had the Glasses.
Lee is a tough character going through some serious shit without any of the support network Joe manages to pick up, and in a continuing series would probably go through a lot more -- seeing as that motherfucker Ruber is her only source of information on what the hell is going on. Like Jennifer, this character needs someone with a lot of emotional depth to convey just how much she's going through, and I'm not sure just who that is.
The Sood
Original Actor: Jason Antoon
Like Suzie Kang, The Sood is an information broker who works out of a bookshop in Vegas. He has a somewhat more sophisticated set-up, but he also caters to a more exclusive clientele.
I have no strong opinions on who should play him... as long as they can do the Eyes.

my redacted face claims / fancasts pt. 2
aka the squeakquel
the response to these has been so overwhelming in the best way possible. these face claims have become very important and indulgent to me over the near year(!!) i've been into redacted, and knowing that other people like them means a lot to me as well
so, here's a pt 2 of sorts. i only have three face claims in this one, but i'll make up for it by adding my piercing hc's for some of the characters (because piercings are a special interest of mine)
let's go!
GEORDI
andrew garfield (actor) (the amazing spider-man)
; so he originally was my guy face claim because "30/90" is one of my guy songs, but then i thought about it, and andrew garfield in his spider-man movie is literally so geordi coded i had to change it up. do you see the vision?? like with the glasses and everything??
; i think part of why this works so well is that while andrew garfield is incredibly attractive, in tasm he plays peter parker so awkward and wallflower-ly that it screams geordi to me. also, his range as an actor would be so good for geordi's videos, since there's so many different emotions that go through his playlist
PORTER
kit young (actor) (shadow & bones)
; OK HEAR ME OUT. i started watched s&b around the time i got into redacted, but when the hyperfixation for redacted won, i kinda stopped watching it. but that didn't stop me from filing kit young away as a potential face claim. i just had to wait a few months before porter got introduced
; kit young's jesper portrayal was so impressive (i've never read six of crows tbh but my point still stands) and multilayered that really translates well to porter. he's flirty, he's deep, his history is a mystery but explains why he does the things he's doing—it's the perfect concoction that makes up porter as well. also, imagine this guy just covered in tattoos. that's my porter solaire right there
LASKO
matthew gray guebler (actor, author) (criminal minds)
; this, fun fact, wasn't my first pick for a lasko hc. however, after seeing an edit on tiktok (because of course) of mgg meeting with a fan, it hit me like a ton of bricks that he was lasko. i mean. guys. c'mon. like not even because i had a very strong attachment to reid when i watched criminal minds and it feels like a stereotypical casting choice for lasko
; mgg’s portrayal of spencer reid was very important to me when i started watching the show, and i think that even if lasko is a bit more expressive than reid, and goes on tangents that are more fluttery than factual, mgg definitely can do it right. also, imagine lasko with reid’s bird-headed cane? or, because part of my hc that after the inversion, hux cut off his locs/shaved his hair, and my freelancer insert also shaved his hair, lasko ended up cutting his hair—so it was almost like reid’s very long hair to shorter hair transition in the seasons. am i overexplaining this?? oh well, it fits i suppose hdskdhks
ok! we’ve gotten to the bonus content! here are some piercings i think some of the redacted bois have (cw for some spicy piercings)
GUY he has a few actually! - he has both of his lobes pierced once, and on his right ear he also has a helix piercing he wears with a little horseshoe hoop - he used to have an eyebrow piercing in high school. he took it out after starting college cuz it got infected, but he replaced it with a lip ring on the left side of his mouth. usually wears a hoop in it - he also has a tongue piercing. i am indulgent with my faves, what can i say? he originally got it for spicy spicy times but after it healed he learned it was also really good for fidgeting with at work also he only has one nipple piercing cuz he got the first one and hated how painful it was and chickened out of the second one, so now he only has one pierced
GAVIN hoo boy - so gavin is maybe my most pierced character (or might be tied). this man has sooooo many piercings. the ones on his ears are inspired by visual kei/j-fashion styles (just imagine in gold instead of silver). he has at least ten in each ear (that's just a general idea not the specifics), included large stretched ears - this size specifically (16mm / 5/8th) - on his face, he has a septum, snake bites and his tongue (you cannot escape my tongue piercing hc’s) - on the rest of his body, gavin has both nipples pierced, as well as some below the belt… (three of them in fact) - for some extra-ness, his horns are also pierced, two in his left and one in his right. they kind of only appear in aria though
LASKO - he has three in each ear: standard lobe for both, a second lobe and a conch in the right ear, and a helix and tragus in his left - has the right side of his nose pierced (which he got after my freelancer took him with them to get a new tattoo) and plans to eventually get a septum - most of lasko's jewelry is silver and plain looking due to D.A.M.N.’s rules about body mods (you can have them the jewelry just has to be very simple)
if i get the energy to make more of these i will. or, if anyone would be interested in my listener oc's and sonas, let me know and i could maybe talk abt them
my redacted face claims / fancasts
literally only two ppl asked for this ( @infiniterotting @mrsmiagreer youre both responsible for this /j) but i will take any chance to infodump
most of these are based on the vibes i get from the characters, if you perceive them differently that’s alright! i’m just having fun with it :]
let’s go!
GUY
ross lynch (musician, actor)
; somehow i didn’t think of him while i was first trying to figure out who my face claim for guy would be. originally i had my geordi face claim as my guy one, but you’ll see why i swapped them eventually dhjsdh!! ; ross has the like perfect amount of chaotic energy but also playful flirting that works really well with guy. like, the shaggy dirty blond hair, the dimples, his eyes… like, yeah. also this mf is 6’, which is taller than i had for guy originally, but him being tall is lowkey funny
━━☆
ELLIOTT
josh hutcherson (actor)
; as my hc of elliott includes him being trans, i wasn’t intentionally looking for a short actor to face claim for him (he's 5'5). but then i saw the first pic of josh hutcherson and all thoughts went out the window. as a member of the beanie boy elliott committee, it felt like fate. like imagine him with the piercings erik has, creating dreamscapes and fighting blake. god i wanna destroy him. elliott's one of my faves, and this face claim just makes my brain happy ; josh hutcherson has got the range to be able to play a character like elliott i think. also, like, y’know. it just makes sense to me ok dhsjdhj
━━☆
DAMIEN
calum hood (bassist for 5 Seconds of Summer)
; so doing research on calum hood made me learn that he’s scottish/māori, which was surprising to me. my hc for damien doesn’t line up with that at all, but i think calum hood has the perfect look for him regardless. strong but not muscly, a nice smile, and the hair?? i think yes ; my damien hc includes him being trans, fun fact. he’s extremely stealth, like only his mom and the damn crew know he’s trans. its ok firecracker, you’re still valid. ik calum hood isn’t trans, but his vibes still fit the resident fire boi
━━☆
IVAN
leonardo decaprio (younger) (actor)
; i literally cannot explain why he’s my ivan face claim. i think i saw someone else fancast him, and was like “oh yeah, that works!” and then never thought abt it again dhsjhddj!! i have nothing else to say abt this honestly
━━☆
HUXLEY
wasabi no ginger (big hero 6) / harry samba (model)
; so wasabi was my first casting for huxley because i have the hc that he had locs that he cut off after the inversion as a form of starting over, and when thinking about what his hair would look like afterwards, i thought abt wasabi. and then i thought abt how they’re similar in that they’re both not taken seriously in their fields due to stereotyping, and how wasabi is big and gentle and huxley is big and gentle too, so here we are. i think this makes sense ; i thought having an actual real person face claim for hux would be good to have, since the other characters have them too. i found this model after doing a bit of looking on pinterest, and i like this guy’s confidence (also he’s like. built. which works perfectly). he seems confident but goofy, which is so perfectly hux-coded. just imagine them combined to make my huxley face claim fgdhsjk or like wasabi is s1-s2 hux & harry samba is s3 or something
ok so i don't wanna make this post like ten pages long so if this gets enough attention i will do a pt 2 with more of my face claims (and maybe some extra goodies like my piercing ideas for the speaker characters)
thank you for indulging me dhskhdks

IKEA GAME VERSE FANCAST
So I got bored... and decided to make a fancast for IKEA Verse, because I might as well. I stuck with Marinette, the boys, and Bruce for right now, until we meet the rest of the crew on screen. Assume Henry Cavil for Superman, Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman, and Michael Cane for Alfred. For most of these, I went off general looks/vibes. This is subject to change if anyone can give me better ideas!
Thaddea Grahm as Marinette (Age 19 in IKEA Game)
This one is based on a total look here. I never really had a fancast for Marinette, so I went and looked at a few others people had done and Thaddea popped up a few times. I love the sass in a lot of her headshots/pictures. She's a little older than I picture Marinette in the Verse - more in her mid 20's than her late teens like how I imagine Marinette, but I can let it slide.
David Mazouz as Damian (Age 19 in IKEA Game)
Young Bruce Wayne from Gotham, as my Damian? It's more likely than you think. I thought he did a great job as young Bruce, and I imagine Damian as like, a younger version of him. Of course, he would play him with a bit more sass and ferocity, but I think the season where Ra's has him hypnotized and nearly brainwashed to kill Alfred (yeah that happened, Gotham was a ride at times) kinda showed what he'd be like as a Damian.
Richard Madden as Dick Grayson (Age 32 in IKEA Game)
I mean, what else can I say, that this picture doesn't. I'm imagining Madden in his Cinderella Era from 2015, just a bit younger, to play Dick here. Give him a gymnast's body too of course, but otherwise, yeah Prince Charming with a bit of sass.
Jensen Ackles as Jason Todd (Age 29 in IKEA Game)
This is the fan cast that starts it all. I loved Jensen voicing Jason a fucking decade ago, and I've never been able to unsee him as Jason ever since. Every fanfic that I read has his voice as Jason. Including my own. I mean, come on look at that badass cosplay! He did that! Of course, this would be Jensen about a decade and a half ago at the end of his 20's for my Jason, but it's my fictional world I can cast who I want to.
Aiden Gallagher as Tim Drake (Age 26 in IKEA Game)
Okay, so I know Aiden is a bit young for this, but I don't care he's my perfect Tim Drake. Have you seen him play 5 in Umbrella Academy? No? Yes? Go watch a clip of 5 being a bit unhinged and asking for coffee, and there you go. That's my gremlin boy Tim Drake!
Tom Ellis as Bruce Wayne (Age 47 in IKEA Verse)
Do I think Ellis could actually pull off Batman? Maybe. Do I think he would give it a shot? Sure. Do I also think he's a dead ringer for David in 20+ years? Absolutely! He also does the sarcastic quipping and banter that my Bruce thrives on, as well as a genuine care for his children, and confusion about relatively day-to-day aspects of being a person because, he's well, a billionaire vigilante!
If anyone has ideas on who to play any others that pop up in my series, do not be afraid to add! I might even add it in as an official headcanon!

So Let’s Cast the Night Vale TV Show - Part One, The Radio Station and the Science Lab
Hello all and welcome to a series I’m calling So Let’s Cast the Night Vale TV Show, in which we create a fancast for the night vale TV show. I’m going to do this in multiple parts, but I’d like everyone’s input, because my opinion is just my opinion.
First things first - in a perfect world, all the amazing voice actors could play their respective characters, but that’s very unlikely. Some of them aren’t screen actors, some of them don’t fit the canon ages or descriptions and some were just once-off guests.
I’m not going to recast Cecil and Carlos. Cecil because I don’t think they’d make the show without Cecil Baldwin, and Carlos because I personally think Dylan would be down just because of how much love he has for the show. And because I’m biased and I love him. Same thing with Kevin - as Cecil’s double, he’d probably be played by Cecil Baldwin but voiced by Kevin R. Free. If you have your own ideas though, you’re welcome to share them!
Lastly, I’m going off of appearance, age, past roles, and general vibes while I list my picks. I’m not intimately familiar with every actor I name.
If you want to add to this fancast, use the hashtag #nightvalefancast and maybe we can do polls or something.
Without further ado, let’s cast the radio station and science lab!
The Radio Station
For the interns, I tried to stick with people who are under thirty, since they’re mostly described as being around college-student age. You’ll notice there’s a lot of people from horror franchises; that’s because the interns are usually met with a terrible fate, so horror actors would fit well.
Intern Dana Cardinal: Originally voiced by Jasika Nicole. Fancast, Jasmin Savoy Brown
Jasmin Savoy-Brown has had roles in Scream 5, Yellowjackets, Grey’s Anatomy, and more. She’s very talented, and she’s also queer! I think she’d bring a lot of the perseverance Dana has to life, based on her role in Scream.
Intern Maureen: Originally voiced by Maureen Johnson. Fancast, Maya Hawke.
I mean, come on, do I need to say anything more? With her iconic role in Stranger Things, her brief stint in Fear Street, and recently Do Revenge, she’s worshiped by lesbians everywhere. She’s also a singer, which would be cute because we could see her and Michelle duet! She’s got the spunk of Intern Maureen and honestly please just give me Maya Hawke as Maureen I’m on my knees begging please please please.
Intern Chad Bowinger: Not voiced. Fancast, KJ Apa
HEAR ME OUT! Riverdale wasted this man, but he is actually quite a good actor, and he deserves the chance to go batshit unhinged like Intern Chad calling an evil beagle. Also, intern Chad disappeared into a used sporting goods store. Sports = epic highs and lows of highschool football. Okay bye now.
Intern Kareem Nazari: Voiced by Adal Rifai. Fancast, Nik Dodani
He was in Escape Room, a Blumhouse horror film. He was in The Owl House, a series beloved by Tumblr. And he was in Dear Evan Hansen, one of the most terrifying movies to be released in the last decade. With Kareem getting more prominence in the podcast, I bet he would get a bigger role in the show, and I think Nik Dodani would do a great job.
The Scientists:
They only appear in brief mentions throughout the podcast, and in larger roles of It Devours! I tried to cast people in their thirties and forties; people who could conceivably have a master’s degree, and who seemed like they’d look good in a lab coat.
Nilanjana Sikdar: Not voiced. Fancast, Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan is a Bollywood actress, but I heard about her for her activism. She promotes body inclusivity and representation for fat actors and actresses, battling what she refers to as “the size zero standard” for Bollywood. She’s been acting since 1995, with an extensive body of work. She even hosts a radio show! With her grace and passion, Ms. Balan would make a great Nilanjana.
Luisa: Not voiced. Fancast, Melissa Barrera
Another pick from Scream 5. What can I say, I really liked Scream 5. Not much is known about Luisa, but I personally imagine the Night Vale TV show as being split between Carlos and Cecil’s perspective. With that in mind, all of the scientists would play a much larger role than their brief appearances in It Devours! But that’s just me. Melissa Barrera is also Vanessa, and gave us “Usnavi all night you barely even danced with me” which is the best meme of the 2020s so far.
Mark: Not Voiced. Fancast, Ashley Zukerman
To me, Mark was always the most generic of the scientists, no offense. He’s just some dude! He likes science and he does his experiments! Ashley Zukerman gives me the energy of “Just some dude!” but also brings an incredible presence to his role in Fear Street. He’s also been in Fear the Walking Dead, Succession, Designated Survivor, and many more. If they do flesh out the scientists more, he could be a good pick.
That’s it for now! I really want to hear your fancastings, and hope you’ll stick around for part two, where we’ll be casting the Palmer-Carlsberg family.

my tiktok algorithm thinks im 16 again so here is MY ideal casting of if they ever make a movie of the secret history (which i both doubt and dont want) cause ive seen way too many wrong videos. first. richard MUST be gravely misinterpreted as the good guy actually and i demand he be played by a quirky charming hollywood ingenue. less weird than timothee chalamet and more weird than tom hollad are the example vibes, like miles teller pre-topgunification, or when logan lerman was in perks of being a wallflower. the cute preteen girlcrush vibe is so important for the whole direction of the movie, and if there are y/n fanfics about him on tumblr thats a plus. next the class which in my opinion should be a bunch of overall unknown/indie actors where maybe they were in an older a24 movie or mainly do theatre or are like an obscure nepo baby. a good vibe for francis typecast wise would be jaeden martell or even noah schnapp - former portrayals of sad gay children not required but has to believably have been a sad gay child (i want the ginger hair to specifically look too fake, think archie riverdale). this is already so long jesus. charles opinion (unpopular amongst dane dehaan fancast community) is i dont want him to look sleazy at all i want him to be an all american charm prettyguy type i want them to do the same thing they did when hbo cast ncw as jaime in got, except i unfortunately dont think the actor theyd get for charles would have the range to give the complex deep performance ncw did but the guy that played the love interest in where the crawdads sing movie that i saw begrudgingly is like, an acceptably flat boring option. with henry i think you could possibly go with making him poc (most probably asian) as either "blind casting" or "updating the source material" since im not sure if a major enough part of the people who would actually go see this movie would care enough about how its missing the point of the story. still this hypothetical movie would have bad reviews anyways. i predict he would have something a lil fucked up or quirky going on with his face. camilla i want to be a girl who is maybe a model or friends with lily rose depp predominantly, in the same category as the girls they got for the new pll, NOT mia wasikowska but the vibe of when mia wasikowska played jane eyre. and in a hotd world i would even suggest milly alcock cuz i think she could agree to that and it would be fun (mia goth could have been this but shes having her big moment now and has too much of a fanbase). in a compeltely opposite vein they literally have to get a random brashy popstar girlie to play judy, like charli xcx or bhad bhabie or even just go nuts with it and get keke palmer to do it. whats important is star factor and general chaotic messy vibe. bunny is difficult bc on one hand it would be fun to me if they made bunnys character the sweet poor little pathetic niceguy whose mean friends bully him for being fat stereotype but on the other hand a guy who has the aura of a victorian dandy meets content house fuckboy oscar wilde part time model would be absolutely perfect. maybe they could do both i want it to be both. and finally julian and now i get to the tiktok that made me think about this for over an hour straight i saw someone say richard gere and to that i say yes that absolutely makes sense. pick a former hollywood romcom guy whos old now but people still call him a daddy even though he is definitely way too old for that. hugh grant is also an option. im literally so smart

Second Chances - Faceclaims
@noesapphic asked me to share my fancast for my series Second Chances (a Modern Desire and Decorum AU), so I'm sharing the ones I have (I do not have one for every character and for some of them I have two or more faceclaims I draw inspiration from and use on the social media edits).
Since it will be a long post, there will be more after the cut, and a little explanation about my choices. Click the images for better resolution.
I'm starting with the main character Elizabeth and her romantic interest, sorry, I mean, her friend Hamid.
Before I started writing Second Chances, I knew Débora Nascimento, a Brazilian actress, would be the faceclaim for the OC Elizabeth. She's got the right hair, the bright expressive eyes and her acting inspired me for this character.
Hamid, on the other hand, was a tough choice. I had other faceclaims before, but since @princess-geek suggested Şükrü Özyıldız, I've found my perfect Hamid. This Turkish actor has got all the perfect smiles, nice hair and watching the him playing different parts has given me a lot of inspiration to write Hamid.
For Ernest Sinclaire, I'm going with @princess-geek's choice. I considered Tom Hughes (and got pictures of him in my Pinterest folder) because of the hair and sideburns, and I keep hearing Sinclaire speaking with Collin Firth's voice, but this time I'm going with James Norton. He's got the hair and is the one who reminds me the most of him.
For Annabelle Parsons, I have different faceclaims, but my favorites are Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott, the first matches the height and how strong and vibrant a woman Miss Parsons is, while the second also reminds me of her because of her looks and the fashionable way she dresses which matches my headcanons for Annabelle in the modern AU (and maybe her performance in Aladdin helped just a little).
I also had other faceclaims for Luke Harper, but Ronald Epps just has the perfect smile and energy and there's no one else ever since I've found his picture while browsing Pinterest last year. He's the perfect Luke Harper for Second Chances.
Briar Daly is also another character I have multiple faceclaims for. For social media because of the bangs and the sexy selfies, I sometimes use Cindy Kimberly as suggested by @noesapphic (even though she's not British), but my favorites are the Indian actress Banita Sandhu (we never got Briar's backstory, but her mother's name gives us a hint of their possible ancestors) and Jameela Jamil just inspires me for writing because of her energy and humor (she's my older version of Briar).
And finally, Chambers and Konevi. Mathew Lewis just gives me the right energy, even though they do not look alike, and Barış Arduç is such a handsome Turkish actor, and has the perfect smile for Yusuf, and I've picked him ages ago. And I think they'd look awkward and awfully cute together.
That's the cast for now.
---------------------------
I must say I'm not very good at picking faceclaims for the side characters, and I'm truly undecided (and even to do this list I have changed more than once the ones I've picked) and for some I never found a perfect faceclaim.
For instance, I never found the perfect Edmund Marlcaster, though I do have a picture of a model from a 90s' advertising from glasses saved on his Pinterest folder. And for the others I have just random inspiration, like sometimes BIll Nighy just vibes with Professor Richards... sometimes he doesn't (and I find it hard to associate the actors I like to characters I dislike lol).

Not that this would ever happen, but I like rolling around the idea of fancasts in my head, so here’s some ideas for an Omori fancast (I used mostly anime VAs since they tend to do video games too). I’ll put a couple roles next to the names in case you don’t recognize them so you can look them up:
Main Cast
Sunny/Omori - I mean. This VA would get Persona levels of “no actual voice lines”, since neither of these characters speak until the last 5% of the game, but still… I saw someone suggest Kyle McCarley (Hyde Kido from UNIB, Shinji from Fate/stay night, Narancia from JJBA: Golden Wind) for this, and even if I weren’t a huge fan of Kyle, I still would choose him for this. It’s actually a really good fit. (Of course, this video contains an… interesting alternate suggestion.)
Aubrey - Cassandra Lee (Taiga Aisaka from Toradora!, Kyubey from Madoka Magica). Again, this is a bit of personal bias since she’s one of my favorite VAs, but she can do both the “cute little girl” voice (for Headspace Aubrey) and the “abrasive” voice (for the real Aubrey), so I think this works out really well.
Kel - Two VAs for this one. I think in real life, Kel would be one of those boys who’s tiny and cute when he’s little, but grows up to have a surprisingly deep voice, so for Headspace Kel I went with Brittney Karbowski (Selim Bradley from FMAB, Black Star from Soul Eater) since I think she’s one of the few female VAs that can do an actually good impression of a little boy’s voice. (Maxey Whitehead (Alphonse Elric from FMAB) would also work.) For the real Kel, I would probably go with Austin Tindle (Karma Akabane from Assassination Classroom), since he sounds friendly (though Karma is really anything but).
Hero - This was the hardest one for me, because I feel like Hero’s voice needs to be just right. After a lot of deliberation, I settled on two - Johnny Yong Bosch (Yu Narukami from Persona 4) or Bryce Papenbrook (Shirou Emiya from Fate/stay night). I still don’t know if these are correct, so if you have a better idea, tell me.
Mari - Cristina Vee (Sakura Matou from Fate/stay night and countless others). This is one of those that I can’t really explain, only say that it fits in my head. Don’t you agree?
Basil - ...okay. I’m just going to say - I actually don’t like the “female VA plays young boy” trope. Yes, I know I did it for Kel above, but I used two actresses who I actually think can pull it off - I just don’t think most female VAs are good at it (not that they’re bad actors - it’s just that despite similar pitches, a young boy’s voice still sounds different from an adult woman’s). All that said… there’s no way I hear Basil with a male VA. Maybe one with an extremely high-pitched voice, but until someone can suggest one of those, I’ll go with Lindsay Seidel (Nagisa Shiota from Assassination Classroom). She’s among those few actresses I mentioned who can somewhat pull off the “young boy” voice. Of course, I also chose her because of the similarities between Nagisa and Basil - young man, looks like a girl (kinda), bad parents, seems shy but has a hidden dangerous side, etc. So yeah. (This explanation was unnecessarily long.) ...except several meme videos have also made me read Basil with the voice of Red Van Buskirk (Silver from Real-Time Fandub), which, despite being a joke idea, works scarily well.
Side Characters
Pluto - One of two actors. Either Christopher Sabat or Patrick Seitz, as they are the biggest hams the English-speaking VA community has to offer. (See: Vegeta and Dio.) Now that I’m thinking about it, Sung-Won Cho (a.k.a. ProZD) would be perfect too.
Space Boyfriend - Thanks to Osulan, I am unable to unhear SB as Chase Young (a.k.a. Mephiles from the Real-Time Fandub series). This is not a serious choice, but it’s the only one I have.
Sweetheart - Due to Sweetheart essentially being “Beatrice+Erika minus the nasty bits”, I really want to say Sayaka Ohara (the voice of Beatrice). But I did say English voice actors, so we’ll go with Mela Lee (Rachel Alucard from BlazBlue), mainly because Rachel and Sweetheart are both “elegant lady”-type characters.
Mr. Jawsum - Probably Patrick Seitz again. Yeah, actually I think this one works.
Slime Girls - I really don’t know about this one… Probably Monica Rial for Marina, Jamie Marchi for Molly, and Laura Bailey for Medusa. That sounds about right.
Humphrey - As a joke idea, Humphrey with the voice of Tom Kenny (Spongebob from… well) would be absolutely hilarious. (Imagine Spunch Bop saying “I fucking love air conditioning”.) Anyway, for a real idea, maybe Sonny Strait because Koro-sensei’s and Humphrey’s laughs are eerily similar. (Also, Sonny Strait is scarily good at changing his voice pitch. I would never recognize Krillin, Hughes, and Kyuzo as all being the same person.)
Hooligang - Unfortunately, I couldn’t really think of any except Todd Haberkorn (Ling from FMAB, Italy from Hetalia) for Mikhael, so if you have any ideas, add them.
I’m out of ideas. (Sorry, Polly.) Feel free to debate (politely) and add more.
