Im curious because I think I might be crazy
Also what are the movies you guys are rewatching?
My thoughts on each answer:
Only Once: Your favourite movies!?! Really!?!? …Okay 🤷🏻‍♀️ I genuinely don’t understand how that’s possible. I pretty much only ever watch a movie once if I really disliked it…even then I’ll probably wait some years and try watching it again
2-5 Times: This is how often I watch most movies..even ones I only kinda liked. I like to rewatch everything before actually deciding if I like it or not. The thing is..once I’ve seen it about 3 times I start to get too comfortable and decide I love it no matter what. I do this with songs too
6-10 Times: Okay this one I’ll accept depending on the reasons. If the first time you watched it was within 5-7ish years then I’ll accept it. I will also accept it if its a favourite, not because it’s a comfort movie, but because it’s genuinely amazing and you don’t want to become apathetic to it’s amazing-ness
11-20 Times: There are definitely quite a few movies I’ve seen this many times. Mainly ones that are shorter and have come out more recently.
More than 20 Times: You are my people. You get me. I have seen an unreasonable amount of movies dozens and dozens of times and I will watch them more times. To add some perspective I have seen Attack of the Clones seven times since January. That’s not even 4 months…imagine how many times I’ve seen it in total :)

this is just my opinion but i think any good media needs obsession behind it. it needs passion, the kind of passion that's no longer "gentle scented candle" and is now "oh shit the house caught on fire". it needs a creator that's biting the floorboards and gnawing the story off their skin. creators are supposed to be wild animals. they are supposed to want to tell a story with the ferocity of eating a good stone fruit while standing over the sink. the same protective, strange instinct as being 7 and making mud potions in pink teacups: you gotta get weird with it.
good media needs unhinged, googling-at-midnight kind of energy. it needs "what kind of seams are invented on this planet" energy and "im just gonna trust the audience to roll with me about this" energy. it needs one person (at least) screaming into the void with so much drive and energy that it forces the story to be real.
sometimes people are baffled when fanfic has some stunning jaw-dropping tattoo-it-on-you lines. and i'm like - well, i don't go here, but that makes sense to me. of fucking course people who have this amount of passion are going to create something good. they moved from a place of genuine love and enjoyment.
so yeah, duh! saturday cartoons have banger lines. random street art is sometimes the most precious heart-wrenching shit you've ever seen. someone singing on tiktok ends up creating your next favorite song. youtubers are giving us 5 hours of carefully researched content. all of this is the impossible equation to latestage capitalism. like, you can't force something to be good. AI cannot make it good. no amount of focus-group testing or market research. what makes a story worth listening to is that someone cares so much about telling it - through dance, art, music, whatever it takes - that they are just a little unhinged about it.
one time my friend told me he stayed up all night researching how many ways there are to peel an orange. he wrote me a poem that made me cry on public transportation. the love came through it like pith, you know? the words all came apart in my hands. it tasted like breakfast.

finally back again!!!
I'll be back writing reviews soon, I had been busy lately but it's finally summer and I've got more time now so...
Anyway, here are some movies I've seen recently and the ratings I gave them:
MINOR SPOILER WARNING
- The Witch (2015)
Tumblr media
7/10 - honestly, I only watched this for Anya Taylor-Joy but it was good. Folk horror 🫶
- I Saw the TV Glow (2024)
Tumblr media
9/10 - First thing I said after watching this was: what? Then, a few minutes later and after analizing what I had just seen I could only think that this was a really good movie.
It's weird, really weird, and most of the time I couldn't quite understand what was going on but once you get it, oh. And the ending; I normally like bittersweet endings but this time I was wishing it would end up differently. However, I think that if it did it wouldn't be so good. Highly recommended.
- The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Tumblr media
6.5/10 - My expectations were too high. I love found footage but this wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. It's still a decent movie though + it manages to keep you entertained (maybe that's just because the main characters won't stop arguing and fighting and complaining).
- REC 3 (2012)
Tumblr media
"John Esponja"
3/10 - You know something's wrong when you're watching smth and you can't tell if it's a horror or a comedy movie; plus, this was supposed to be a found footage franchise, why change that if it was working so well???
The ending was good though, they reminded me of demolition lovers. And the kiss...I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
- Alien (1979)
Tumblr media
8/10 - I wanted to start watching the Alien franchise and the first one didn't disappoint me at all. I'm going to watch all the others + the one that's going to be released this year.
- mother! (2017)
Tumblr media
1.6/10 - I'm not even going to talk about this.
- The Truman Show (1998)
Tumblr media
9.8/10 - In case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening and good night!
This is exactly how every movie should be. I wish they would play movies like this at the theater again. Also imagining how people would react to the things I do if I was in his situation keeps me entertained.
- Jaws (1975)
Tumblr media
7.5/10 - A classic. Probably wouldn't recommend you to watch it if you want to go the the beach and swim this summer.
Also, they should've thrown the mayor to the water. 🦈

Ratatouille would have been a better and potentially much more interesting story if Remy had partnered with Collette instead of Linguini. Two underdogs with talent and passion forced to maintain a dangerous ruse. Fiercely independent Collette giving up temporary control of her body to a creature who, despite the insanity of a rat wanting to cook professionally, she can relate to on a personal level and who she does want to teach. The inner conflict of wondering if Remy’s growing talents are eclipsing her own, if the praise their food is earning belongs more to him than to her. Her guilt over feeling resentment and jealousy towards this little guy who wouldn’t have a hope of realizing his talents if not for her trust and protection. Both of them unraveling the mystery of that sweet but bumbling kitchen boy with the obvious crush on Collette being Gusteau’s secret son, and working together to thwart the new evil owner’s plans to stop Linguini from claiming his birthright. The message of the movie not being this weird, almost smug “some people are born with talent, some people aren’t, and that’s how being a ~great artist~ works”, but something more like, “if you have a dream, you deserve to pursue it, and be supported and encouraged in your pursuit of it, even if other people tell you that, because of some intrinsic aspect of yourself or the circumstances you were born in (like being a human woman in the restaurant industry, or being a literal rat), you have no place pursuing this dream. Also, raw talent can only get you so far, and skill and passion existing in the right balance is key.” I’ve been thinking about this for seventeen years. I’m breaking my silence
