I could go on a tangent about THE Homura Akemi ALL DAY. People probably didn't really understand what happened in Madoka Magica JUST BECAUSE it was very trippy and strange to viewers when it first came out. I remember people jokingly recommending it all too well. But I remember the storyline by heart, far worse than my knowledge on Sonic.

Homura is not completely evil. Her intentions are selfless in her eye, but to the others she's become the enemy. And she doesn't even mind that. She accepted the fact that they're going to hate her, no matter what, all because she wanted them to live. She became the devil just so she could change the world around her, to take things back the way they were with the real Madoka. Not the clone she made within her witch's dreamspace. Her Madoka. The one she sent spiraling into the same fate over and over, simply just to save her.

She was always best friends with Kyoko. You probably wouldn't recognize it at first but golly gee it was pretty obvious she always went to Kyoko each time she went through another loop. (Someone mathed up that she's been in a time loop for about 10 years.) So she's constantly teamed up with Kyoko, no matter what happened. In Rebellion, she went to Kyoko FIRST to share everything she found out. She probably still considers Kyoko her best friend, all because she never judges. She still enjoys Mami's company, but Mami always questions and suspects her of everything. So she tries to watch her from a distance. She still warned Mami, even if she didn't have to, in hopes that she would finally listen to her for once.

She wiped Sayaka's memories of being part of the new law Godoka created simply so Sayaka could live the life she wanted as a human girl. In the last timeline of where Madoka became God, Sayaka was distressed when Kyubey told her that their souls were no longer part of their body, to the point she became a witch. Her only wish was to fall in love like any other girl, but couldn't because she was a zombie.

In Rebellion, when she spoke with Madoka, her dream Madoka claimed that she would of been heartbroken to of been separated from all of her friends/left them all behind. So Homura tore Madoka apart so she could live her life with her family and friends again. Of course it had to hurt. But she was willing to do what she needed to just so her friends could live normal lives again.

She doesn't care how her friends view her, so long as they're not DYING over and over again.

I'm so freaking excited for the Walpurgisnacht Rising movie releasing this (or next) year, it's gonna add so much to my view on Homura and how she literally threw everything she had away for her friends. (And more importantly, Madoka, because she was her first friend ever. Her best friend forever.)
