“Kiss for the new year..” Draco repeated, confused. “What’s that mean exactly? People wouldn’t shut up about it.”

“It’s a muggle thing.” Harry explained, “People say if you don’t kiss someone on midnight on new year’s eve, your year will be a lonely one or something like that.”

Harry looked up when he felt a hand brush his cheek. Draco was cupping his face gently, looking at him fondly. His grey eyes shining with new light.

“Malfoy,” his heart was racing, ”What’re you-”

“I don’t want you to be alone."

The sound of fireworks erupting was loud enough to wake the whole castle. They filled the dark sky will splatters of different color, dazzling lights, and beautiful designs of swirling dragons that roared. Spells were cast to add to the chaos. Students were cheering, and screaming to their heart’s content, welcoming the new year with open arms.

Harry didn’t see any of it though, his eyes were closed as his lips were too preoccupied with Draco’s. Draco was holding him firmly in place with his hand on the back of his neck, pressing his lips against his over and over again. They broke the kiss to catch their breath, both of their faces flushed. Harry felt his heart flutter when Draco smiled at him, a genuine smile.

Imagine~ Sauron trying to be a good person. And having a very hard time of it because he has these things... I've heard they're called 'feelings'... Anyway. He's finding it a bit hard to deal with, but long story short, think Sauron getting a second chance and go from there.

Then you probably know exactly which moments I'm referencing here, but just in case,

No. 1 is Finrod, just before Annatar is about to have his first full on emotional breakdown, and the No.2 is Maedhros saying thank you. Which is fairly obvious. But still.

I love this fic so much!!!

(this is definitely not the last fanart I'm gonna do from this. Chapter 39 has some amazing moments that I am so gonna draw when I next have time~)

As one, the ballroom bursts into action, multiple Aurors running towards Agnes then halting in their tracks, hesitant to touch her. The security attendants to the side of the stage sweep towards Harry, muscling him back towards curtained safety even as he fights to stay in the action. “No!” he yells, pulling at his shoulders, trying to loosen the Aurors’ restraint even while his eyes dart around the ballroom, following the commotion. He knows, beneath the adrenaline, that a dozen Ministry officials are already at Agnes’ side, but he can also see them hesitating to do anything. Hermione would likely refer to his current urge to join them as more of his ‘impulsive heroism.’ He has no clue what he would do if he reached the action. All he knows is that disappearing behind the stage curtains very much feels like the wrong answer. The muscled men don’t lessen their hold though, as they haul him off the platform. The last thing Harry manages to see before he’s separated from the chaos is Malfoy, wand pointed directly at Agnes, staring furiously and unblinkingly at her bloody form.

Oh! This fic! I love it so so so so much! I've been following it since the first chapter, and already can't wait for the next. Baby Akio is such a cutie, the character conflict is treated wonderfully, and it has what's probably the very best use of amnesia in recent narrative I've ever seen.

It's a truly beautiful work, one of my favorites, and it's making me so happy to see all the love it's been receiving lately! ❤️
