i love it when in fandom you have this one guy where most fan work of him present him as this troubled guy haunted by the demons of his past and they use catholic imagery and all that but then you watch the show or read the book or whatever and hes literally just a whore with daddy issues

I’ve been updating my Charles Xavier Spotify Playlist and I’ve found songs for my three favourite Charles relationship dynamics that makes me sad 😭 these are going to include headcanons probably but most are close to what Charles really goes through

My Only Friend by Amy Shark (Ft. Tom DeLonge) - I feel like this song really fits Hank and Charles’ relationship before and during Days of Future Past. They’re my favourite friendship and I love seeing their dynamic explored in fics because it’s such a complicated relationship but for the longest time they were definitely each other’s person.

Dorothea by Taylor Swift - This song really made me imagine it as Charles talking to Raven or thinking about Raven when he misses her. He wishes he still had his sister and reminisces about their youth and the way things used to be. It really fits the sad feeling over her leaving as well as the hope of reconciliation one day.

Now with Erik I have so many that could fit different aspects of his relationship with Charles and how Charles feels about him so I’m going to list songs that I think fit the different emotions Charles may feel in regards to their relationship and especially the events in FC and DoFP.

The Grudge by Olivia Rodrigo and First Burn from Hamilton - These two songs definitely fits the anger Charles feels in regard to his relationship with Erik. He obviously loves Erik a lot but I believe that at least in the early years he felt so much anger and sadness over the miscommunication and his sister leaving that he must’ve occasionally had angry thoughts that he usually wouldn’t have. It’s an anger that he would later move on but I think it’s definitely shown in DoFP and I headcanon anyway that he felt so angry at times at Erik. The Grudge definitely feels more like Charles getting upset at Erik but saying these things to himself about what happened to him and trying to come to terms with what happened and First Burn feels more like he’s actually talking to Erik.

I miss you, I’m sorry by Gracie Abrams and The Moon Will Sing by The Crane Wives - These are definitely the sad aspect which I always love looking into because I love angst. I miss you, I’m sorry is more of a mourning the relationship song where Charles thinks back on before everything went wrong and how happy he was with him and how upset he is over the separation. The lyrics “I don’t wanna go, think I make it worse. Everything I know brings me back to us” to me show how dependent they are on each other and that they’re always going to be a part of each other no matter how many years go by. He’s always going to be connected to Erik and miss him even if things originally ended badly. The Moon Will Sing feels like it’s fits the trope of a character helping another find their spark but losing their own in the process. Charles loves Erik and Erik loves Charles but their relationship has made things difficult and Charles kind of lost himself for a bit after everything but he did eventually find his way back.

I am routinely baffled by any criticism of jgy fans' interpretation and defence of his character that can be boiled down to "but genre conventions!!!!" as if defying genre conventions isn't how newer, cooler, more interesting stories end up being told.

i have never really posted about them, but lloyd and whitney are probably the most important duo in vegas.

lloyd henreid is randall flagg's right hand man. he's burnt out and has basically nobody there for him... except for whitney. whitney checks on him after the crucifixions, they sit and talk together, whitney is comfortable enough telling lloyd henreid, flagg's main informant, that he's planning on hopping town. and not just that he's planning on leaving, but that he wants lloyd to come with him and the rest of their group.

the fact that lloyd declines this offer tells me a few things, and all of them can either be separate interpretations or all a part of the same thought process depending on how you see lloyd and analyze his character.

lloyd is so deep into this delusion that flagg is somehow deep down capable of caring for him that he still feels obligated to stick by him

lloyd is so beat down by flagg that leaving him after everything, good and bad, that flagg has done to/for him keeps his feet planted to the ground

lloyd wants to leave with whitney, but is terrified of flagg finding him and punishing him the same way bobby terry got it

lloyd wants to leave but is scared of whitney and the others being hurt by flagg... which is honestly much more likely considering how flagg loves to torment lloyd.

whitney was one of lloyd's best friends and probably the only person he ever truly made a connection with. whitney consistently shows concern, love, and real kindness towards lloyd... and yet in the end flagg is more important than him. because flagg could kill lloyd or whitney in an instant, and that keeps lloyd away.

lloyd tells whitney he can't leave flagg because he believes that he owes flagg his life, but i think it's really because he didn't want whitney to lose his.

too bad he did anyway.

omg i wrote this RIGHT after watching jjk s2 back in feb, when i was still an anime watcher only lolll... i think i picked up the core themes (the value of human life, life purpose, man as an individual vs as a part of humanity, etc) p well????? thank god it isnt turning out 2 b NEARLY as depressing as i was expecting 0_0���

Episode one of Supernatural is so flawed that, had I watched it for the first time last night (instead of for the third), I would not have have watched the second. Ever. The flaws are things I simply didn't pick up on when I was thirteen, and memory glazed over with emotional attachment. I understand why these flaws are there, what the writers tried and failed to do through clumsy dialogue and strange character decisions. There's no subtlety. Everything Sam says is direct exposition, specifically the things that he would not have to say to his brother.

I do not do reviews so that's all I'm going to say.

fascinated with the fact that it’s the surrendering of coriolanus’ “fatal flaw” that leads directly to his death. i’ve seen people call it stubbornness, pride, violence - either way, these are all things that coriolanus surrenders leading up to his death, when he changes his mind, goes back on his word (which we know he values from act 1: “i do hate thee worse than a promise breaker”) and chooses peace. and if he hadn’t, he would have survived, at least for a little longer (aufidius almost definitely would have killed him eventually but this is still what directly led to his canon death). his “fatal flaws” were really what kept him alive, and surrendering them and choosing to do the right thing is a death sentence for him

Someone has probably thought of this before but I just realized,, I wonder how much Jin Ling actually knows about his family?? Like obviously Jiang Cheng didn’t speak about the good times with Wei Wuxian and he probably spoke highly of Jiang Yanli,, but I wonder how much he actually said?? How much could he actually speak about either of them before remembering became too sad too much?? I wonder how many small stories Jin Ling knows, how many anecdotes? He probably know the base version of what Jiang Cheng portrayed but not them as actual human beings and that’s so fucking sad
