“The fuck is there snow on this beach?”

Billy’s face was drawn and pinched with pain as he stared at the greyish waters and the heavy dusting of snow atop the sand.

Steve shrugged.

“Not all beaches are as warm as the ones in California.”

Going out to the coast, to the Harrington family cabin at Christmas had been a tradition as long as Steve could remember. Now that Steve had been dating Billy for around five years, he was pretty much considered a Harrington.

Steve suspected now that he’d stopped listening at the word beach and hadn’t heard that they weren’t going somewhere particularly sunny.

He watched his boyfriend glare at the tide before stomping his way down in massive winter boots

“S’alright”

Steve suspected that was the best he was going to get so he took it.

The little cousins were making snow angels on the sand and Steve watched Billy’s expression slowly soften as he lay on the ground with them.

Steve gently grabbed his hand.

Billy wrinkled his pink nose at him.

The best bit was getting back to the cabin and drinking hot cocoa under blankets. Billy really enjoyed that.

As Steve relaxed into the Hargrove affectionate death grip, he suspected Billy didn’t mind a cold beach anymore.

Doing a quick interest poll because me and @intothedysphoria are thinking about running a little stranger things fanfic book club. It'd be a very low pressure thing (run through a tumblr blog) where we just share fic recs for the fandom, read things together, and encourage one another to comment and share the love for the talented writers in our fandom

It's probably not going to be something we can get running for a little while yet, but I'm still doing a quick interest check to see what people think of that. So...
